[0001] Around the world, people are repeatedly shot dead by public officials (e.g., police officers) because they feel threatened by these individuals or others from an attack with a knife or similar weapon.
[0002] These potential threats are usually in a state of psychological distress – often only temporary. It seems advisable to develop a method that incapacitates these potential attackers in a different way. Furthermore, the aim is to avoid, as far as possible, the subsequent trauma for the public official (police officer) resulting from the killing of a person.
[0003] This is what the so-called manstop is supposed to accomplish: A steel flare / signal pistol - Fig. 1 - 1. as a breech-loading pistol (1) 1. with rooster (2) 2. with a tilting barrel (3) such as this one from Heckler & Koch with a bore of 30-40 mm, a length of 100 to 150 mm, the pivot / tilt axis (6) and the trigger guard (7). The tilting barrel - Fig. 2 - enables quick cartridge changes. 2. These contain a cartridge (4) based on a standard shotgun cartridge - Fig. 3 - a propellant charge (8) which is capable of pressing a propellant charge in front of the propellant charge polyester mesh or other rubber-like material (5) - Fig. 4 - The net is hurled to a distance of 2 to 10 meters, the usual proximity between the individuals involved. This prevents them from freeing themselves quickly enough to avoid being restrained by police officers or even launching an actual attack.
