Abstract

The invention relates to a method for setting up a stimulation device (10) with at least one stimulation electrode (40) for stimulating at least one muscle, which is coupled to a control device (20) that transmits stimulation signals to the at least one stimulation electrode (40), and with at least one sensor device (50) for detecting a muscle contraction of a muscle, which is coupled to the control device, wherein a setup pulse is transmitted to the stimulation electrode (40) and the signal intensity of the setup pulse is dimensioned such that a muscle response of the stimulated muscle is detected by the sensor device (50) and the intensity of the stimulation signal is reduced to a level below the setup pulse.
