Abstract
Description
BACKGROUNDArea of Revelation
[0001] The present disclosure relates to communication devices, infrastructure equipment, and methods for more efficient operation of communication devices and infrastructure equipment in a wireless communication network.
[0002] This application claims priority under the Paris Convention to European patent application number EP22187188.2, filed on July 27, 2022, the contents of which are hereby incorporated by reference. Description of the state of the art
[0003] The "Background" description provided herein is intended to provide a general context for the disclosure. The work of the presently named inventors, to the extent described in this Background section, as well as aspects of the description that might not otherwise be considered prior art at the time of filing, are not expressly or by implication admitted as prior art to the present invention.
[0004] Previous-generation mobile telecommunications systems, such as those based on the 3GPP-defined UMTS and Long-Term Evolution (LTE) architecture, are capable of supporting a wider variety of services than the simple voice and messaging services offered by previous generations of mobile telecommunications systems. With the improved radio interface and data rates provided by LTE systems, a user can, for example, use high-data-rate applications such as mobile video streaming and mobile video conferencing that would previously have been available only over a fixed-line data connection. Demand for the deployment of such networks is therefore high, and the coverage area of these networks—the geographical locations where access to the networks is possible—is expected to continue to grow rapidly.
[0005] Current and future wireless communication networks are expected to routinely and efficiently support communications with an increasingly broad range of devices associated with a wider range of traffic profiles and types than existing systems are optimized to support. For example, future wireless communication networks are expected to efficiently support communications with devices including reduced complexity devices, machine-type communication (MTC) devices, high-resolution video displays, virtual reality headsets, extended reality (XR), etc. Some of these different device types may be deployed in very large numbers, for example, low-complexity devices supporting the Internet of Things, and may typically be associated with the transmission of relatively small amounts of data with comparatively high latency tolerance. Other device types, supporting, for example, high-resolution video streaming, may be associated with the transmission of relatively large amounts of data with relatively low latency tolerance. Other device types, used, for example, for autonomous vehicle communications and other critical applications, may be characterized by the need to transmit data over a network with very low latency and very high reliability. A single device type may also be associated with different traffic profiles / characteristics depending on the application(s) being executed. For example, different considerations may apply to efficiently support data exchange with a smartphone when it is running a video streaming application (high downlink data volume) than when it is running an internet browsing application (occasional uplink and downlink data) or is used for voice communications by an emergency responder in an emergency scenario (data is subject to strict reliability and latency requirements).
[0006] In view of this, it is expected that current wireless communication networks, for example those that can be referred to as 5G or New Radio (NR) systems / New Radio Access Technology (new RAT) systems, or even future 6G wireless communications, as well as future iterations / versions of existing systems, will be required to efficiently support connectivity for a wide range of devices associated with different applications and different characteristic traffic profiles and requirements.
[0007] One example of a new service is called Ultra Reliable Low Latency Communications (URLLC), which, as the name suggests, requires a data unit or packet to be communicated with high reliability and low communication latency. Another example of a new service is Enhanced Mobile Broadband (eMBB), which is characterized by high capacity and a requirement to support up to 20 Gbit / s. URLLC and eMBB services therefore represent challenging examples for both LTE and 5G / NR communication systems.
[0008] 5G NR has continued to evolve, and the current work plan includes 5G NR Advanced, which is expected to deliver several further improvements, particularly to support new use cases / scenarios with higher requirements. The desire to support these new use cases and scenarios presents new challenges for the efficient handling of communications in wireless communication systems. SUMMARY OF REVELATION

DETAILED DESCRIPTION OF THE EMBODIMENTS Long-Term Evolution Advanced Radio Access Technology (4G)
[0015] Fig. 1 provides a schematic diagram illustrating basic functionality of a mobile telecommunications network / system 6 that generally operates according to LTE principles, but may also support other radio access technologies, and may be configured to implement embodiments of the disclosure as described herein. Various elements of Fig. 1 and certain aspects of their respective operating modes are well known and defined in the relevant standards maintained by the 3GPP(RTM) organization and also described in many books on the subject, for example, Holma H. and Toskala A. [1]. It is understood that operational aspects of the telecommunications networks discussed here that are not specifically described (for example, with respect to specific communication protocols and physical channels for communicating between different elements) can be implemented according to any known techniques, for example, according to the relevant standards and known proposed amendments and additions to the relevant standards.
[0016] The network 6 includes several base stations 1 connected to a core network 2. Each base station provides a coverage area 3 (ie, a cell) within which data can be communicated to and from communication devices 4. Although each base station 1 in Fig. 1 as a single entity, it will be understood by a person skilled in the art that some of the functions of the base station may be performed by various interconnected elements, such as antennas (or antenna stations), remote radio heads, amplifiers, etc. Together, one or more base stations may form a radio access network.
[0017] Data is transmitted from base stations 1 via a radio downlink to communication devices 4 within their respective coverage areas 3. The data is transmitted from communication devices 4 to the base stations 1 via a radio uplink. The core network 2 forwards data to the communication devices 4 via the respective base stations 1 and provides functions such as authentication, mobility management, charging, and so on.
[0018] Terminal devices may also be referred to as mobile stations, user equipment (UE), user terminal, mobile radio, communication device, and so on. Services provided by the core network 2 may include connectivity to the Internet or to external telephone services. The core network 2 may further track the location of the communication devices 4 so that it can efficiently contact (i.e., via paging) the communication devices 4 to transmit downlink data to the communication devices 4.
[0019] Base stations, which are an example of network infrastructure equipment, may also be referred to as transceiver stations, nodeBs, e-nodeBs, eNB, g-nodeBs, gNB, and so on. In this regard, different terminology is often associated with different generations of wireless telecommunications systems for elements that provide largely comparable functionality. However, certain embodiments of the disclosure may equally be implemented in other generations of wireless telecommunications systems, and for convenience, certain technology may be used regardless of the underlying network architecture. That is, the use of a particular term with respect to certain example implementations is not intended to imply that these implementations are limited to a particular network generation that may be most closely associated with that particular terminology. New radio access technology (5G)
[0020] Systems incorporating NR technology are expected to support different services (or types of services), which may be characterized by different latency, data rate, and / or reliability requirements. For example, Enhanced Mobile Broadband (eMBB) services are characterized by high capacity and a requirement to support up to 20 Gbit / s. The requirements for Ultra-Reliable and Low-Latency Communications (URLLC) services are for a 32-byte packet to be transmitted from the radio protocol layer 2 / 3 SDU input point to the radio protocol layer 2 / 3 SDU output point of the radio interface within 1 ms with a reliability of 1-10 -5 (99.999%) or higher (99.9999%) [2].
[0021] Massive Machine Type Communications (mMTC) is another example of a service that can be supported by NR-based communication networks. Systems can also be expected to support further enhancements related to the Industrial Internet of Things (IIoT) to support services with new requirements for high availability, high reliability, low latency, and, in some cases, high-accuracy location determination.
[0022] An example configuration of a wireless communication network that uses some of the terminology proposed and used for NR and 5G is shown in Fig. 2. In Fig. 2, a plurality of transmission and reception points (TRPs) 10 are connected to distributed control units (DUs) 41, 42 via a connection interface represented as a line 16. Each of the TRPs 10 is configured to transmit and receive signals via a wireless access interface within a radio frequency bandwidth available to the wireless communication network. Within an area for conducting radio communications via the wireless access interface, each of the TRPs 10 therefore forms a cell of the wireless communication network, as represented by a circle 12. As such, wireless communication devices 14 located within a radio communication area provided by the cells 12 can transmit and receive signals to and from the TRPs 10 via the wireless access interface. Each of the distributed units 41, 42 is connected to a central processing unit (CU) 40 (which may be referred to as a control node) via an interface 46. The central processing unit 40 is then connected to the core network 20, which may include all other functions required to transmit data for communication to and from the wireless communication devices, and the core network 20 may be connected to other networks 30.
[0023] The elements of the Fig. 2 can operate in a similar manner to corresponding elements of an LTE network, as described with reference to the example of Fig. 1. It is understood that operational aspects of the Fig. 2 and other networks discussed herein according to embodiments of the disclosure that are not specifically described (e.g., with respect to specific communication protocols and physical channels for communicating between various elements) may be implemented according to any known techniques, for example, according to currently used approaches for implementing such operational aspects of wireless telecommunications systems, e.g., according to the relevant standards.
[0024] The TRPs 10 from Fig. 2 may partially have functionality corresponding to a base station or an eNodeB of an LTE network. Likewise, the communication devices 14 may have functionality corresponding to the UE devices 4 known for operation with an LTE network. It is therefore understood that the operational aspects of a new RAT network (for example, with regard to specific communication protocols and physical channels for communicating between different elements) may differ from those known from LTE or other known standards for mobile telecommunications. However, it is also understood that each of the core network components, base stations, and communication devices of a new RAT network is functionally similar to the core network component, base stations, and communication devices, respectively, of an LTE wireless communication network.
[0025] In terms of comprehensive functionality at the top level, this can be compared to the Fig. 2, the core network 20 connected to the new RAT telecommunications system shown in Fig. 1, and the respective central units 40 and their associated distributed units / TRPs 10 can be broadly regarded as providing functionality that is similar to the base stations 1 of Fig. 1. The term network infrastructure equipment / access node can be used to include these elements and more conventional base station type elements of wireless telecommunications systems. Depending on the application at hand, the responsibility for scheduling transmissions scheduled on the radio interface between the respective distributed units and the communication devices may lie with the control node / central unit and / or the distributed units / TRPs. A communication device 14 is in Fig. 2 within the coverage area of the first communication cell 12. This communication device 14 can therefore exchange signals with the first central unit 40 in the first communication cell 12 via one of the distributed units / TRPs 10 associated with the first communication cell 12.
[0026] It is further understood that Fig. 2 merely represents an example of a proposed architecture for a telecommunications system based on a new RAT, wherein approaches according to the principles described herein may be applied, and the functionality disclosed herein may also be applied with respect to wireless telecommunications systems having other architectures.
[0027] Therefore, certain embodiments of the disclosure as discussed herein may be implemented in wireless telecommunications systems / networks according to various other architectures, such as those described in Fig. 1 and Fig. 2. It is therefore understood that the specific wireless telecommunications architecture in any given implementation is not paramount to the principles described herein. In this regard, certain embodiments of the disclosure may generally be described in the context of communications between a network infrastructure equipment / access node and a communication device, wherein the specific nature of the network infrastructure equipment / access node and the communication device depends on the network infrastructure for the present implementation. For example, in some scenarios, the network infrastructure equipment / access node may comprise a base station, such as an LTE-type base station 1, as shown in Fig. 1, which is configured to provide functionality according to the principles described herein, and in other examples, the network infrastructure equipment may comprise a control unit / control node 40 and / or a TRP 10 of the type described in Fig. 2, which is adapted to provide functionality according to the principles described herein.
[0028] A more detailed diagram of some of the components of the Fig. 2 shown network is Fig. 3 provided. In Fig. 3 includes a TRP 10, as in Fig. 2, as a simplified representation, a wireless transmitter 30, a wireless receiver 32, and a controller or control processor 34 operable to control the transmitter 30 and the wireless receiver 32 to transmit and receive radio signals to and from one or more UEs 14 within a cell 12 formed by the TRP 10. As shown in Fig. 3, an exemplary UE 14 is shown as including a respective transmitter 49, a receiver 48, and a controller 44 configured to control the transmitter 49 and the receiver 48 to transmit signals representing uplink data to the wireless communication network via the wireless access interface formed by the TRP 10, and to receive downlink data as signals transmitted by the transmitter 30 and received by the receiver 48 according to standard operation.
[0029] The transmitters 30, 49 and the receivers 32, 48 (as well as other transmitters, receivers, and transceivers described with respect to examples and embodiments of the present disclosure) may include radio frequency filters and amplifiers, as well as signal processing components and devices to transmit and receive radio signals, for example, in accordance with the 5G / NR standard. The controllers 34, 44 (as well as other controllers described with respect to examples and embodiments of the present disclosure) may be, for example, a microprocessor, a CPU, a dedicated chipset, etc., configured to execute instructions stored on a computer-readable medium, such as non-volatile memory. The processing steps described herein may be performed, for example, by a microprocessor in conjunction with a random access memory operating according to instructions stored on a computer-readable medium. The transmitters, receivers, and controllers are shown in . Fig. 3 schematically depicted as separate elements. However, it is understood that the functionality of these elements may be provided in many different ways, for example, using one or more suitably programmed programmable computers, or one or more suitably configured application-specific integrated circuits / circuitry / chips / chipsets. It is understood that the infrastructure equipment / TRP / base station, as well as the UE / communication device, generally comprise various other elements associated with their operational functionality.
[0030] As in Fig. 3, the TRP 10 also includes a network interface 50 connected to the DU 42 via a physical interface 16. The network interface 50 therefore provides a communication link for data and signaling traffic from the TRP 10 via the DU 42 and the CU 40 to the core network 20.
[0031] The interface 46 between the DU 42 and the CU 40 is referred to as the F1 interface, which can be a physical or logical interface. The F1 interface 46 between the CU and the DU can operate according to the 3GPP TS 38.470 and 3GPP TS 38.473 specifications and can be formed from fiber optic or other high-bandwidth wired or wireless connection. In one example, the connection 16 from the TRP 10 to the DU 42 is via fiber optic. The connection between a TRP 10 and the core network 20 can generally be referred to as a backhaul, which includes the interface 16 from the network interface 50 of the TRP 10 to the DU 42 and the F1 interface 46 from the DU 42 to the CU 40. Full Duplex Time Division Duplex (FD-TDD: Full Duplex Time Division Duplex)
[0032] NR / 5G networks can operate using time division duplex (TDD), where an entire frequency band or carrier is switched to either downlink or uplink transmissions for a period of time and can be switched to the other of downlink or uplink transmissions at a later period. Currently, TDD operates in half-duplex (HD-TDD) mode, where the gNB or UE can either send or receive packets at a given time, but not both simultaneously. As wireless networks transition from NR to 5G Advanced networks, a new feature proposed for such networks is to enhance duplex operation for time division duplex (TDD) by enabling full-duplex operation in TDD (FD-TDD) [3], [4].
[0033] With FD-TDD, a gNB can transmit and receive data to and from UEs simultaneously on the same frequency band. Furthermore, a UE can operate in either HD-TDD or FD-TDD mode, depending on its capabilities. For example, if UEs are only capable of supporting HD-TDD, FD-TDD is achieved at the gNB by scheduling a DL transmission to a first UE and a UL transmission from a second UE within the same OFDM (Orthogonal Frequency Division Multiplex) symbol (i.e., at the same time). Conversely, FD-TDD is achieved at both the gNB and the UE if the UEs are capable of supporting FD-TDD, where the gNB can schedule these UEs simultaneously with DL and UL transmissions within the same OFDM symbol by scheduling the DL and UL transmissions on different frequencies (e.g., physical resource blocks (PRBs)) of the system bandwidth.A UE supporting FD-TDD requires more complex hardware than a UE supporting only HD-TDD. Current 5G network development focuses primarily on enabling FD-TDD at the gNB, with UEs operating in HD-TDD mode.
[0034] Motivations for improving duplex operation for TDD include improving system capacity, reducing latency, and improving uplink coverage. In current HD-TDD systems, for example, OFDM symbols are allocated only for either a DL or UL direction in a semi-static manner. Thus, if there is less or no data in one direction, the excess resources in the other direction cannot be used or are, at best, underutilized. However, if resources can be used for DL data and UL data simultaneously (as in FD-TDD), resource utilization in the system can be improved. Furthermore, in current HD-TDD systems, a UE can receive DL data but cannot simultaneously transmit UL data, resulting in delays. If a gNB or UE is allowed to transmit and receive data simultaneously (as in FD-TDD), traffic latency is improved.Furthermore, UEs are typically limited in UL transmissions when located near the edge of a cell. While UE coverage at the cell edge can be improved if more time-domain resources are allocated to UL transmissions (e.g., retries), if more time resources are allocated to the UL direction, fewer time-domain resources can be allocated to the DL direction, which may lead to system imbalance. Enabling FD-TDD would help ensure that more UL time resources can be allocated to a UE when needed, without sacrificing DL time resources. Cross-link interference (CLI) between cells
[0035] In NR systems, a slot format (i.e., the allocation of DL and UL OFDM symbols within a slot) can be configured semi-statically or dynamically, where each OFDM symbol (OS) within a slot can be configured as downlink (DL), uplink (UL), or flexible (F). An OFDM symbol configured semi-statically as flexible can be dynamically indicated as DL, UL, or further indicated as flexible by a dynamic slot format indicator (SFI) transmitted in a group common (GC) DCI using DCI format 2_0, where the CRC of the GC DCI is masked with SFI-RNTI. Flexible OFDM symbols that remain flexible after being instructed by the SFI can be changed to a DL symbol or a UL symbol by a DL or UL authorization, respectively. That is, a DL permit that plans a PDSCH overlapping with flexible OFDM symbols would convert these flexible OFDM symbols to DL, and similarly, a UL permit that plans a PUSCH overlapping with flexible OFDM symbols would convert these flexible OFDM symbols to UL.
[0036] Since each gNB in a network can independently change the configuration of each OFDM symbol, either semi-statically or dynamically, it is possible that, in a given OFDM symbol, one gNB is configured for UL and a neighboring gNB is configured for DL. This causes cross-link interference (CLI) between cells among the competing gNBs (due to UL / DL symbol collision for one or more symbols). Inter-cell CLI occurs when the UL transmission of one UE interferes with DL reception by another UE in another cell, or when the DL transmission of one gNB interferes with UL reception by another gNB. That is, inter-cell CLI is caused by misaligned (competing) slot formats between neighboring cells. An example is shown in Fig. 4, where gNB1 411 and gNB2 412 have synchronized slots. For a given slot, the slot format of gNB1 411 = {D, D, D, D, D, D, D, D, D, D, D, D, U, U, U, U}, while the slot format of gNB2 412 = {D, D, D, D, D, D, D, D, D, U, U, U}, where 'D' indicates DL and 'U' indicates UL. Inter-cell CLI occurs during the 11th OFDM symbol of the slot, in which gNB1 411 performs UL and gNB2 412 performs DL. In particular, the CLI 441 occurs between cells between gNB 1411 and gNB2 412, where a DL transmission 431 from gNB2 412 interferes with a UL reception 432 from gNB1 411. The CLI 442 also occurs between UE1 421 and UE2 422, where a UL transmission 432 from UE1 421 interferes with a DL reception 431 from UE2 422.
[0037] Some legacy implementations attempt to reduce inter-cell CLI in TDD networks caused by flexible and dynamic slot format configurations. Two CLI measurement reports for managing and coordinating scheduling between neighboring gNBs include: Sounding Reference Signal (SRS), Reference Signal Received Power (RSRP), and Received Signal Strength Indicator (RSSI). In SRS-RSRP, a linear average of the power contribution of a UE transmitted by a UE from a neighboring cell is measured. This is measured across the configured resource elements within the considered measurement frequency bandwidth in the time resources in the configured measurement opportunities. In CLI-RSSI, a linear average of the observed total received power is measured only at specific OFDM symbols of the measurement time resource(s) in the measurement bandwidth across the configured resource elements for measurement by a UE.
[0038] Both SRS-RSRP and CLI-RSSI are RRC measurements and are performed by a UE to mitigate CLI between cells from UE to UE. In SRS-RSRP, an aggressor UE (i.e., a UE whose UL transmissions cause interference to another UE in a neighboring cell) would send an SRS in the uplink, and a victim UE (i.e., a UE experiencing interference due to a UL transmission from the UE in the neighboring cell) in a neighboring cell would be configured with a measurement configuration that includes the SRS parameters of the aggressor UE so that the interference from the aggressor UE can be measured. An example is shown in Fig. 5 shows where the 11th OS (OFDM symbol) of gNB1 511 and gNB2 512 causes a CLI between cells at a specific slot. Here, gNB1 511 has configured UE1 521, the aggressor UE, to transmit an SRS 540, and gNB2 512 has configured UE2 522, the victim UE, to measure the SRS 540. UE2 522 is provided with the SRS-configured parameters of UE1 521, e.g., used RS sequence, frequency resources, frequency transmission comb structure, and time resources, so that UE2 522 can measure the SRS 540. In general, a UE can be configured to monitor 32 different SRSs, with a maximum rate of 8 SRSs per slot.
[0039] In CLI-RSSI measurements, the UE measures the total received power, i.e., signal and interference, according to a configured periodicity, start and end OFDM symbols of a slot, and a set of frequency resource blocks (RBs). Since SRS-RSRP measures a transmission by a specific UE, the network can target a specific aggressor UE to reduce its transmission power and, in some cases, not schedule the aggressor UE concurrently with a victim UE reporting a high SRS-RSRP measurement. In contrast, CLI-RSSI cannot be used to identify a transmission by a specific aggressor UE, but CLI-RSSI provides an overall estimate of the inter-cell CLI experienced by the victim UE. Cell-intracellular cross-link interference (CLI) and subband full duplex (SBFD)
[0040] In addition to inter-cell CLI and long-distance interference, FD-TDD also suffers from intra-cell CLI at the gNB and the UE. An example is in Fig. 6, where a gNB 610 is FD-TDD capable and simultaneously receives a UL transmission 631 from UE1 621 and transmits a DL transmission 642 to UE2 622. At the gNB 610, an intra-cell CLI is caused by the DL transmission 642 at the gNB's transmitter itself interfering with its own receiver 641, which is attempting to decode UL signals 631. At the UE2 622, an intra-cell CLI 632 is caused by an aggressor UE, e.g., UE1 621, transmitting in the UL 631 while a victim UE, e.g., UE2 622, receives a DL signal 642.
[0041] The intra-cell CLI at the gNB due to self-interference can be significant, as the DL transmission can in some cases be over 100 dB stronger than the UL reception. Accordingly, complex RF hardware and interference suppression are required to isolate this self-interference. To reduce self-interference at the gNB, one possibility considered in [3], [4] is sub-band full duplex (SBFD). In SBFD, the frequency resource of a TDD system bandwidth or bandwidth part (BWP) (i.e., at the UE / gNB) is divided into two or more non-overlapping sub-bands, where each sub-band can be DL or UL [5]. An example is given in Fig. 7, where simultaneous DL and UL transmissions occur in different non-overlapping subbands 701 to 704, i.e., in different sets of frequency resource blocks (RB): subband#1 701, subband#2 702, subband#3 703, and subband#4 704, such that subband#1 701 and subband#3 703 are used for DL transmissions, while subband#2 702 and subband#4 704 are used for UL transmissions.
[0042] Although Fig. 7 shows the system bandwidth as divided into four subbands, essentially any number of subbands could be used. For example, the system bandwidth can be divided into three subbands, which may include two downlink subbands 701, 703 and one uplink subband 702, although other subband arrangements are envisaged. To reduce leakage from one subband 701 to 704 to another, a guard subband 710 can be configured between the UL and DL subbands 701 to 704. Guard subbands 710 are configured between UL subband #4 704 and DL subband #3 703, between DL subband #3 703 and UL subband #2 702, and between UL subband #2 702 and DL subband #1 701. The arrangement of subbands 701 to 704 shown in Fig. 7 is only one possible arrangement of the subbands and other arrangements are possible and guard bands can be used in essentially any subband arrangement. Interference between subbands
[0043] In addition to cross-link interference between cells, SBFD also suffers from interference between (and within) subbands caused by transmission leakage and receiver selectivity. Although a transmission is typically planned within a specific frequency channel (or subband), i.e., a specific set of RBs, the transmit power may leak into other channels. This occurs because channel filters are not perfect, and therefore, the filter roll-off causes power to leak into adjacent channels of the intended particular frequency channel. While the following discussion uses the term channel, the term subband, such as the one used in Fig. 7 shown subbands can be used instead.
[0044] An example of a transmission that creates adjacent channel leakage is shown in Fig. 8. Here, the desired transmit power (Tx) is the transmit power in the selected frequency band (i.e., the assigned channel 810). Due to the roll-off of the transmit filter and nonlinearities in components of the transmitter, a portion of the transmit power leaks into adjacent channels (including an adjacent channel 820), as shown in Fig. 8. The ratio of the power within the assigned frequency channel 810 to the power in the adjacent channel 820 is the adjacent channel power ratio (ACLR). The leakage power 850 causes interference to a receiver receiving the signal in the adjacent channels 820.
[0045] Similarly, a receiver's filter is also imperfect and will receive unwanted power from adjacent channels due to its own filter rolloff. An example of filter rolloff at a receiver is shown in Fig. 9. Here, a receiver is configured to receive transmissions in a dedicated channel 910. However, the imperfection of the receiver filter means that a portion of a transmitted power 950 may be received in adjacent channels 920. Therefore, when a signal 930 is transmitted on an adjacent channel 920, the receiver unintentionally receives the adjacent signal 930 to some extent on the adjacent channel 920. The ratio of the received power in the dedicated frequency channel 910 to the received power 950 in the adjacent channel 920 is the adjacent channel selectivity (ACS).
[0046] The combination of the ACL of the transmitter and the ACS of a receiver will result in Adjacent Channel Interference (ACI), also known as interference between subbands, at the receiver. An example is in Fig. 10, where an aggressor transmits a signal 1010 in an adjacent channel with a lower frequency than the victim's receive channel 1020. The interference 1050 caused by the aggressor's transmission involves the ACL 1051 of the aggressor's transmit filter and the ACS 1052 of the victim's receive filter. In other words, the receiver will experience interference 1050 in the ACI frequency range defined in Fig. 10 is shown.
[0047] Therefore, due to adjacent channel interference (ACI), despite the use of different subbands 701 to 704 for DL and UL transmissions in an FD-TDD cell, as in the example from Fig. 7, cross-link interference (CLI) still occurs. The proposed SRS-RSRP and CLI-RSSI measurements specified for inter-cell CLI assume that an aggressor and a victim transmit and receive in the same frequency channel. That is, the measurements for SRS-RSRP and CLI-RSSI are performed on a victim UE in the same frequency channel as the aggressor's frequency channel. These approaches therefore do not consider ACI and the use of subbands 701 to 704 to provide information to the planner to mitigate intra-cell CLI. Intra-subband interference
[0048] Intra-subband interference can occur when the subband configurations between gNBs are not aligned in the frequency domain. Here, CLI can occur in the overlapping frequencies of inter-cell subbands. An example is shown in Fig. 11, where a system bandwidth of a gNB1 1111 in UL subband UL-SB#1 1152, which f 0 to f 2 occupied, and DL subband DL-SB#1 1151, which f 2 to f 3 occupied, while a system bandwidth of a gNB2 1112 is divided into UL subband UL-SB#2 1154, which is 0 to f 1 occupied, and DL subband DL-SB#2 1153, which f 1 to f 3 occupied, is divided. The unaligned subband configurations 1150 cause UL-SB#1 1152 to overlap with DL-SB#2 1153, thereby providing an intra-subband CLI within the overlapping frequencies f 1 to f 2 In this example, an intra-subband CLI 1141 occurs at the gNB1 1111 because a DL transmission 1132 of the gNB2 1112 within f 1 to f 2 in DL-SB#2 1153 with a UL reception 1131 of the gNB1 1111 from the UE1 1121 within f 1 to f 2in UL-SB#1 1152. In addition, an intra-subband CLI 1142 occurs at UE2 1122 because a UL transmission 1131 of UE1 1121 is within f 1 to f 2 in UL-SB#1 1152 with a DL reception 1132 of the UE2 1122 within f 1 to f 2 interferes in DL-SB#2 1153. Frequency Domain Resource Allocation (FDRA)
[0049] The PDSCH frequency resource is allocated in a DL grant or an activation DCI for semi-persistent resources (SPS). Similarly, the PUSCH frequency resource is allocated in a UL grant or an activation DCI for a configured grant (CG) PUSCH. The frequency resource allocation is specified in the Frequency Domain Resource Assignment (FDRA) field of the DCI for PDSCH and PUSCH. There are three types of FDRA: Type 0 and Type 1 are used for PDSCH and PUSCH, and Type 2 is used for PUSCH only in Rel-17 (i.e., for NR-unlicensed (NR-U)).
[0050] In Type 0-FDRA, the resource blocks (RBs) in the bandwidth portion (BWP) are divided into N RBG Resource block groups (RBG: Resource Block Group), whereby the size of the RBG is configurable and depends on the size of the BWP N BWPin RBs. This is shown in Table I below, which is reproduced from [6], where it is included as Table 5.1.2.2.1-1. The FDRA consists of a bitmap with a size of N RBG Bit, where the gNB has the flexibility to specify which RBG a PDSCH or PUSCH occupies; i.e., the PDSCH and PUSCH frequency resources can be discontinuous. Table I: RGB size (reproduced from [6]) Bandbreitenteilgröße Konfiguration 1 Konfiguration 2 1-36 2 4 37 - 72 4 8 73 - 144 8 16 145 - 275 16 16
[0051] In Type-1 FDRA, the PDSCH or PUSCH occupies a contiguous set of RBs. The FDRA specifies the starting RB of the PDSCH or PUSCH and the length of RBs occupied by the PDSCH or PUSCH. The gNB does not have the flexibility to allocate discontinuous RBs for the PDSCH or PUSCH as in Type-0 FDRA, but has a finer granularity of PDSCH / PUSCH size (i.e., a granularity of one or more RBs instead of RBGs) compared to Type-0 FDRA. The number of bits used for Type-1 FDRA is log 2 [N BWP (N BWP + 1) / 2]. Although Type 1 FDA can generally be considered more efficient in terms of the amount of resources allocated (due to the lower granularity), it is less flexible than Type 0 FDA in that allocations cannot be discontinuous.
[0052] The UE may be configured to dynamically switch between Type 0 and Type 1, using the most significant bit (MSB) (1-bit) of the FDRA to indicate that either Type 0 or Type 1 FDRA is used. The number of bits used for dynamic switching of FDRA is therefore max(log 2 [N BWP (N BWP + 1) / 2], N RBG ) + 1.
[0053] In unlicensed operation, the frequency resource of a BWP is divided into RB sets, each with a bandwidth of 20 MHz. The gNB can allocate one or more RB sets to a UE, e.g., for PUSCH transmission. Regulations for unlicensed operation require that an RB set be fully occupied so that its energy can be detected by another device for LBT purposes.
[0054] Type 2 FDA is introduced for an unlicensed operation to meet the requirements for an unlicensed operation, whereby Type 2 FDA assigns the RBs in a nested manner. M Verschachtelung = either 10 or 5 interleaving patterns defined for a subcarrier spacing (SCS) of 15 kHz or 30 kHz, respectively, where for each interleaving pattern the assigned RBs start at a different RB offset, followed by steps of M Verschachtelung RBs. An example of a 30 kHz SCS interleaving assignment is shown in Fig. 12 where it is M Verschachtelung = 5 patterns numbered as {0, 1, 2, 3, 4} in a 20 MHz RB set. The gNB can allocate a PUSCH to occupy one or more interleaving patterns. For example, in Fig. 12 nested patterns, numbered 1 and 3, are assigned for a PUSCH. Once the nesting patterns for an RB set are assigned, the gNB can further assign multiple RB sets in the BWP, where the RB sets are defined by defining the starting RB set and the number of contiguous RB sets to be assigned. In the example in Fig. 12, the gNB specifies RB set 1 and 3 RB sets, thereby assigning the PUSCH to occupy RB set 1, RB set 2 and RB set 3, using nested patterns 1 and 3 in each RB set.
[0055] The bit size of the FDRA field for Type 2 is XNesting+log2⌈NRB_Set(NRB_Set+1)2⌉, where N RB_Satz is the number of RB sets in the BWP and X Verschachtelung = 6 and 5 for an SCS of 15 kHz and 30 kHz SCS respectively, indicating the assigned nested pattern(s).
[0056] Two frequency configurations considered for subbands are 2 DL + 1 UL and 1 DL + 1 UL, as shown in Fig. 13 or Fig. 14. However, a person skilled in the art will understand that such configurations as shown in Fig. 13 and Fig. 14 are merely two examples and that any possible configurations could be used, with one or more DL subbands and one or more UL subbands arranged in any conceivable pattern.
[0057] The configuration of 2 DL + 1 UL consists of 2 DL subbands 1301, 1303, with the UL subband 1302 located in the middle, i.e. between the two DL subbands, as in Fig. 13. The configuration of 1 DL + 1 UL consists of a DL subband 1401 and a UL subband 1402, as shown in Fig. 14. For the subband configuration of 1 DL + 1 UL, the UL subband 1402 may start at the lower end of a frequency bandwidth (e.g., starts at f 0 ) and end in the middle of the bandwidth (dhf 1 ), as in the above configuration Fig. 14, followed by the DL subband 1401, or the UL subband 1402 may start in the middle of the bandwidth (ie, at f 2 ) and at the higher end of the frequency bandwidth (at f 3 ), as in the configuration below Fig. 14, end after the DL subband 1401.
[0058] For Type 0 and Type 1 FDRA, the bit size of the FDRA field is proportional to the number of RBs in the BWP, N BWP However, in SBFD operation, only a portion of the BWP is used for either PDSCH or PUSCH, which means that some of the FDRA bits are redundant. Furthermore, for the subband configuration of 2 DL + 1 UL, as shown in Fig. 13 (or indeed any SBFD configuration with more than one DL and / or UL subband positioned discontinuously), a discontinuous PDSCH assignment, such as Type 0, is required if the two DL subbands need to be assigned for a UE. This is because a Type 1 assignment would be limited to only one of the DL subbands because it is not possible for Type 1 assignments to be discontinuous. It should be noted here that for a Type 0 configuration (referring to Table 1 above), which provides finer RBG granularity, Type 0 FDRA uses more bits than Type 1, making it ineffective. If Type 2 FDRA were considered, the same problems of a large number of bits being used would arise, thus making it ineffective as well. Furthermore, Type 0 is not available for a fallback DCI, ie DCI format 0_0 and 1_0 for UL approval and UL certification respectively.DL authorization, which is a DCI (which can be used for such initial access) with a relatively small number of bits, and for which a Type 0 FDRA may be too coarse. Therefore, a new FDRA method suitable for SBFD operation is required.
[0059] Embodiments of the present technique therefore aim to provide solutions to address such problems and propose new FDRA methods that are effective and suitable for SBFD operation. Mirror image FDA for SBFD companies
[0060] Fig. 15 shows a partially schematic, partially message flow diagram representation of a wireless communication system comprising a communication device 1501 and infrastructure equipment 1502 according to at least some embodiments of the present technique. The communication device 1501 is configured to transmit and / or receive signals to and / or from the wireless communication network, for example, to and from the infrastructure equipment 1502. In particular, the communication device 1501 may be configured to transmit and / or receive data to and / or from the wireless communication network (e.g., to and from the infrastructure equipment 1502) via a wireless radio interface provided by the wireless communication network (e.g., a Uu interface between the communication device 1501 and the radio access network (RAN) including the infrastructure equipment 1502).The communication device 1501 and the infrastructure equipment 1502 each include a transceiver (or transceiver circuitry) 1501.1, 1502.1 and a controller (or control circuitry) 1501.2, 1502.2. Each of the controllers 1501.2, 1502.2 may be, for example, a microprocessor, a CPU, or a dedicated chipset, etc.
[0061] As in the example from Fig. 15, the transceiver circuitry 1501.1 and the control circuitry 1501.2 of the communication device 1501 are in combination for receiving 1510, from the wireless communication network (e.g., from the infrastructure equipment 1502), a control signal that specifies a resource allocation for the communication device 1501 either to transmit an uplink transmission to the wireless communication network (e.g., to the infrastructure equipment 1502) or to receive a downlink transmission from the wireless communication network (e.g., from the infrastructure equipment 1502) within a set of contiguous resource units (which may define a bandwidth portion (BWP)) of a wireless radio interface (e.g.,a Uu interface between the communication device 1501 and the infrastructure equipment 1502), wherein the set of contiguous resource units comprises one or more uplink frequency sets, each comprising a plurality of uplink resource units, and one or more downlink frequency sets, each comprising a plurality of downlink resource units, and wherein the resource allocation indicates either at least one of the uplink resource units of a first one of the uplink frequency sets for uplink transmission or at least one of the downlink resource units of a first one of the downlink frequency sets for downlink transmission, for receiving 1520 from the wireless communication network (e.g.from the infrastructure equipment 1502), a replication indication, wherein the replication indication indicates either that the resource allocation for the uplink transmission in the first uplink frequency set is repeated in one or more other of the uplink frequency sets and / or in the first uplink frequency set, or that the resource allocation for the downlink transmission in the first downlink frequency set is repeated in one or more other of the downlink frequency sets and / or in the first downlink frequency set, and configured to transmit 1530 the uplink transmission to the wireless communication network (e.g., to the infrastructure equipment 1502) or to receive the downlink transmission from the wireless communication network (e.g., from the infrastructure equipment 1502) according to the resource allocation and the replication indication.
[0062] Here, one skilled in the art would understand that the first uplink frequency set and the first downlink frequency set referred to in the previous paragraph and elsewhere herein are not necessarily the first sets in frequency (although this might be the case in some implementations), but instead refer to any one of the uplink frequency sets and any one of the downlink frequency sets.
[0063] Essentially, embodiments of the present technique propose introducing a new type of FDRA (which may be referred to as a mirror-image FDRA), wherein the allocated RBs of a PDSCH or PUSCH / PUCCH in one frequency set are also allocated in one or more other frequency sets. Here, in some arrangements of embodiments of the present technology, the frequency sets may be DL or UL subbands, although it will be understood by one skilled in the art that embodiments of the present technique may equally be applied to arrangements where the frequency sets are not DL or UL subbands.Although reference is made to frequency sets and subbands in this disclosure, one skilled in the art will understand that such terms are interchangeable, and indeed, even when DL or UL frequency sets are referred to as DL or UL subbands, such description is intended to extend to arrangements where the frequency sets described are not DL or UL subbands.
[0064] In some arrangements of embodiments of the present technique, whether the mirror image FDRA scheme is used may be semi-statically configured. In other words, the replication indication may be received within radio resource control (RRC) signaling.
[0065] In some arrangements of embodiments of the present technique, whether the mirror image FDAA is being used may be dynamically indicated in the DCI. For example, a one-bit field may be defined in the DL Grant or UL Grant, or in an activation DCI for SPS / CG PUSCH, to enable or disable a mirror image FDAA according to arrangements of embodiments of the present technique. In other words, the replication indication may be received within a downlink control information (DCI), where the DCI may be the control signal (i.e., the signal carrying the UL / DL grant).Furthermore, the control signal may be an activation DCI indicating that at least one instance of a set of permissionless resources is either activated or deactivated, wherein the set of permissionless resources is the resource allocation in which the communication device is configured to either transmit the uplink transmission to the wireless communication network or to receive the downlink transmission from the wireless communication network in a permissionless manner.
[0066] In some arrangements of embodiments of the present technique, the DCI holding the DL grant or UL grant (or activation DCI) using SBFD-based FDRAs may use a separate Radio Network Temporary Identifier (RNTI) for a DCI holding a DL grant or UL grant (or activation DCI) for non-SBFD (i.e., legacy TDD)-based FDRAs. In other words, the control signal may be associated with a first identifier, wherein the first identifier implicitly indicates the replication indication and is different from at least a second identifier that may be associated with another DCI that does not include the replication indication.
[0067] In some arrangements of embodiments of the present technique, the search space and / or CORE SET on which the DCI carrying the DL grant or UL grant (or activation DCI) is transmitted using SBFD-based FDRA may be different from the search space and / or CORE SET on which a DCI carrying a DL grant or UL grant (or activation DCI) is transmitted for non-SBFD-based FDRA (i.e., legacy TDD). In other words, the control signal may be received by the communication device within a specific set of resources (i.e., search space or CORE SET) of the wireless air interface, wherein receipt of the control signal within the specific set of resources implicitly indicates the replication indication.
[0068] In some arrangements of embodiments of the present technique, it may always be configured such that a bandwidth of (at least) two of the frequency sets is the same if mirror image FDRA is applied. For example, the number of RBs in two of the DL subbands may be the same. In other words, at least two of the first uplink frequency set and the one or more other uplink frequency sets may each have the same bandwidth, and / or at least two of the first downlink frequency set and the one or more other downlink frequency sets may each have the same bandwidth.
[0069] In some arrangements of embodiments of the present technique, a common modulation and coding scheme (MCS), new data indicator (NDI), and redundancy version indicator (RI) may be applied in the DCI to each PDSCH or PUSCH (or PUCCH) assigned in each frequency set. In other words, the DCI maintains individual MCS, NDI, and RI values for each PDSCH, PUSCH, or PUCCH. That is, the control signal may define a single value of each of one or more communication parameters for all of the first uplink frequency set and the one or more other uplink frequency sets, and / or the control signal may define a single value of each of the one or more communication parameters for all of the first downlink frequency set and the one or more other downlink frequency sets.
[0070] In some other arrangements of embodiments of the present technique, each of MCS, NDI, and RI in the DCI may be individually applied to each PDSCH or PUSCH assigned in each frequency set, respectively. In other words, the DCI maintains multiple MCSs, NDIs, and RIs corresponding to all frequency sets, where each MCS, NDI, or RI value may apply to one or more of the frequency sets on either an individual or group basis, but they are not common across all of the frequency sets. That is, the control signal may define a different value of each of one or more communication parameters for each of the first uplink frequency set and the one or more other uplink frequency sets, and / or the control signal may define a different value of each of the one or more communication parameters for each of the first downlink frequency set and the one or more other downlink frequency sets.
[0071] In some arrangements of embodiments of the present technique, the DL and UL sub-bands (or frequency sets) may be semi-statically configured or dynamically assigned by the gNB. In other words, the one or more uplink frequency sets and the one or more downlink frequency sets may be configured within RRC signaling received by the communication device from the wireless communication network, and / or the one or more uplink frequency sets and the one or more downlink frequency sets may be dynamically assigned by a DCI received by the communication device from the wireless communication network. For dynamic allocation, the frequency set configurations, i.e., locations, may or may not be transparent to the UE.This means that if the frequency sets are transparent to the UE, DCI planning would implicitly configure the frequency sets at the UE without the UE needing to know the configuration of those frequency sets. Instead, the UE would only know the allocated resources within those frequency sets. One skilled in the art would understand that the mirror image FDRA techniques, as defined by embodiments of the present disclosure, are applicable to both semi-statically configured and dynamically allocated subbands (or frequency sets).
[0072] In some arrangements of embodiments of the present technique, the mirror image FDRA may repeat the RBs of a PDSCH / PUSCH / PUCCH every O Spiegel and N Spiegel -times. It should be noted here that the RBs of the PDSCH N Spiegel-times across the frequency domain (i.e., as may be defined by the set of contiguous resource units that themselves define a BWP) and not the PDSCH / PUSCH / PUCCH itself. That is, only a single PDSCH / PUSCH / PUCCH is assigned across these repeated RBs. The gNB specifies the RB assignment for a frequency set, and the RB assignment is then N Spiegel times with an offset of O Spiegel RBs. In other words, either the resource allocation in the first uplink frequency set in the one or more other uplink frequency sets may be repeated according to a first parameter (ie, N Spiegel ), which defines a number of times the resource allocation is repeated, and a second parameter (ie O Spiegel) which defines an offset between each repetition of the resource allocation, or the resource allocation in the first downlink frequency set may be repeated in the one or more other downlink frequency sets according to the first parameter (ie N Spiegel ) and the second parameter (ie O Spiegel ) can be repeated.
[0073] An example is in Fig. 16, where a PDSCH can be planned to occupy RBs that are discontinuous across three frequency sets 1602, 1603, 1604. The gNB specifies an FDRA 1601 that f 1 to f 2 , where this assignment N Spiegel =3 times with an offset O Spiegel 1605 is to be repeated, which results in the PDSCH-RBs frequencies f 1 -f 2 , f 5 -f 6 and f 9 -f 10 It is also understood that, although the example in Fig. 16 for a DL transmission, which is carried out by Fig. 16 are also applicable in a similar and corresponding manner for UL transmissions. According to such an arrangement, the gNB is able to use a smaller FDRA bit size because it only needs to specify one FDRA within a frequency set instead of within the entire bandwidth portion. The gNB can further utilize a Type 1 DFRA to achieve discontinuous allocation across the BWP, thereby enabling DCI format 0_0 and 0_1 to specify discontinuous RBs while benefiting from the granularity advantages of Type 1 FDRA.
[0074] The offset O Spiegel and the RB repetition factor N Spiegelmay, like the previously described frequency sets themselves, be configured semi-statically, dynamically specified in a DCI, and / or fixed in the specifications. In other words, the first parameter and / or the second parameter may be configured within an RRC signaling received by the communication device from the wireless communication network. Alternatively or additionally, the first parameter and / or the second parameter may be dynamically specified by a DCI received by the communication device from the wireless communication network. Alternatively or additionally, the first parameter and / or the second parameter may be predefined and known to the communication device (and indeed to the wireless communication network / infrastructure equipment). Some of the parameters may be configured semi-statically and some may be dynamically specified; for example, the O Spiegelbe configured semi-statically, while N Spiegel is specified dynamically in the DCI.
[0075] It should be noted that in some arrangements of embodiments of the present technique, the RB repetition method may also be applicable within a single subband by O Spiegel configured to be smaller than the subband size. In other words, either the resource allocation in the first uplink frequency set may be configured according to a first parameter (ie, N Spiegel ), which defines a number of times the resource allocation is repeated, and a second parameter (ie O) Spiegel ) which defines an offset between each repetition of the resource allocation, or the resource allocation in the first downlink frequency set may be repeated in the first downlink frequency set according to the first parameter (i.e. N) Spiegel ) and the second parameter (ie O) Spiegel) can be repeated.
[0076] An example is in Fig. 17, where the subband configuration consists of 1 DL + 1 UL, and here O Spiegel 1705 smaller than the DL partial bandwidth. The DL authorization only needs one PDSCH 1701 to allocate f 1 to f 2 (ie within the DL subband 1702) and the RB repeat would then f 3 to f 4 , i.e. an offset O Spiegel 1705, for the PDSCH. In this example, N Spiegel assumed to be 2. It is understood that this arrangement can also be applied to cases where there are no subbands to be configured, in which case the RB repetition occurs within the BWP itself.
[0077] Furthermore, in some other arrangements of embodiments of the present technique, one skilled in the art would understand that the RB repetition method may be applicable both within a single subband and across one or more subbands. For example, in a DL-UL-DL arrangement, as in Fig. 13, a PDSCH within a single DL subband to the previously described with reference to Fig. 17, but also within the other DL subband (and here, in the other subband, the PDSCH can be repeated either once or twice, for example). In some implementations, this can be achieved by two different O Spiegel parameters (i.e., one smaller than the DL subbandwidth and one larger).
[0078] In some arrangements of embodiments of the present technique, the offset O Spiegelthe frequency separation between two DL subbands or between two UL subbands. In other words, the offset defined by the second parameter may be equal to a frequency separation between either at least two of the first downlink frequency set and the one or more other downlink frequency sets, or at least two of the first uplink frequency set and the one or more other uplink frequency sets. That is, the second parameter defines that either the resource allocation in the first uplink frequency set may be repeated in at least one of the uplink resource units of the one or more other uplink frequency sets corresponding to the at least one of the uplink resource units of the first uplink frequency set indicated by the resource allocation, or the resource allocation in the first downlink frequency set may be repeated in at least one of the downlink resource units of the one or more other downlink frequency sets corresponding to the at least one of the downlink resource units of the first downlink frequency set indicated by the resource allocation.
[0079] In some arrangements of embodiments of the present technique, the RB repetition factor N Spiegelequal to the number of DL subbands or the number of UL subbands in the BWP. In other words, the number of times the resource allocation is repeated, as defined by the first parameter, may be equal to either the total number of the first downlink frequency set and the one or more other downlink frequency sets or the total number of the first uplink frequency set and the one or more other uplink frequency sets.
[0080] In some arrangements of embodiments of the present technique, the mirror image FDRA may be a mirroring of the RBs allocation in a first frequency set at a mirroring line to a second frequency set. In other words, either the resource allocation in the first uplink frequency set may be mirrored to the one or more other uplink frequency sets according to a mirroring parameter that defines a mirroring line within the set of contiguous resource units at which the resource allocation is mirrored, or the resource allocation in the first downlink frequency set may be mirrored to the one or more other downlink frequency sets according to the mirroring parameter.
[0081] An example is in Fig. 18, where the gNB plans a PDSCH to allocate discontinuous RBs. Here, the gNB issues an FDRA 1801 to allocate RBs in the first frequency set 1802 to allocate f1 -f 2 and according to such arrangements a reflection line 1804 is defined, which in the example from Fig. 18 is located in the middle of the first frequency set 1802 and the second frequency set 1803. The RBs assigned in the first frequency set 1802 are therefore mirrored to the second frequency set 1803, resulting in RBs that are f 5 -f 6 prove.
[0082] One way to implement such arrangements is simply for the mirroring parameter to explicitly define this mirroring line 1804 (i.e., a frequency value or RB at which the resource allocation is mirrored). In other words, the mirroring parameter can explicitly define the mirroring line. Alternatively, another way to implement such arrangements is to specify an offset O Spiegelung 1805 between the edge of the first frequency set 1802 at f 0 and the assigned RB, e.g., f 1, and then calculate the offset O Spiegelung 1806 from the opposite edge of the second frequency set 1803 at f 7 to apply the mirrored RB, e.g., at f 6 , as in the example in Fig. 18. In other words, the mirroring parameter may define either, for each of the uplink resource units of the first uplink frequency set, an offset between that uplink resource unit and a start of the first uplink frequency set, or, for each of the downlink resource units of the first downlink frequency set, an offset between that downlink resource unit and a start of the first downlink frequency set. Both such techniques (or indeed techniques according to any other contemplated implementation) are performed for each assigned RB in the first frequency set, such that the mirrored RBs are also assigned in the second frequency set. As previously mentioned, one skilled in the art would understand that other implementations for determining the mirrored RBs may, of course, be used.
[0083] The mirroring parameter - e.g. the offset O Spiegelungor the reflection line - (and similar to the offset O Spiegel , the RB repetition factor N Spiegel and the frequency sets themselves, as previously described) may be configured semi-statically, dynamically specified in a DCI, and / or fixed in the specifications. In other words, the mirroring parameter may be configured within RRC signaling received by the communication device from the wireless communication network. Alternatively or additionally, the mirroring parameter may be dynamically specified by a DCI received by the communication device from the wireless communication network. Alternatively or additionally, the mirroring parameter may be predefined and known to the communication device (and indeed to the wireless communication network / infrastructure equipment).
[0084] It should be noted that the RB mirroring method may also be applicable within a single subband or within a BWP (either with or without any subband-level configuration) by placing the mirroring line within a subband (or within a BWP). In other words, either the resource allocation in the first uplink frequency set may be mirrored within the first uplink frequency set according to a mirroring parameter that defines a mirroring line within the set of contiguous resource units at which the resource allocation is mirrored, or the resource allocation in the first downlink frequency set may be mirrored within the first downlink frequency set according to the mirroring parameter.
[0085] An example is in Fig. 19, where the BWP is configured with a subband configuration of 1 DL + 1 UL and the mirror line 1904 is placed in the middle of the DL subband 1902. The DL authorization uses a Type 1 FDA 1901 to assign RBs that are 1 to f 2 and using the RB mirroring method, RBs in f 3 to f 4 allocated, providing discontinuous RBs for the planned PDSCH.
[0086] Furthermore, in some other arrangements of embodiments of the present technique, one skilled in the art would understand that the RB mirroring method may be applicable both within a single subband and across one or more subbands. For example, in a DL-UL-DL arrangement, as in Fig. 13, a PDSCH within a single DL subband to the previously described with reference to Fig. 19, but can also be mirrored into the other DL subband (and here, in the other subband, the PDSCH can be included either once or twice, for example). In some implementations, this can be achieved by two different O Spiegelung -values and / or multiple mirroring lines are achieved (for example, one of them is placed within the first DL subband for mirroring within this DL subband and one of them is placed within, for example, the UL subband for mirroring into the other DL subband).
[0087] In some arrangements of embodiments of the present technique, an assignment of RBs of a first frequency set to RBs in one or more other frequency sets may be defined. In other words, the communication device (and indeed correspondingly the wireless communication network / infrastructure equipment) may be configured to determine an assignment between each of the uplink resource units of the first uplink frequency set and a corresponding uplink resource unit of at least one of the one or more other uplink frequency sets and / or each of the downlink resource units of the first downlink frequency set and a corresponding downlink resource unit of at least one of the one or more other downlink frequency sets, and to determine that either the resource assignment in the first uplink frequency set is repeated in the one or more other uplink frequency sets according to the determined assignment or that the resource assignment in the first downlink frequency set is repeated in the one or more other downlink frequency sets according to the determined assignment. Here, this mapping can be defined by a lookup table or based on an equation for which an RB of a first set of frequencies can be used as an input and from which the corresponding RB of a second set of frequencies can be determined as the output.
[0088] An exemplary mapping using a lookup table is shown in Table II below, where in this example the frequency set consists of 10 RBs labeled 1st, 2nd, 3rd, etc. RB, and the mapping is between a first frequency set 2001 and a second frequency set 2002 of Fig. 20. A gNB may specify in the FDRA field of a UL authorization (or equally a DL authorization or an activation DCI or the like) that the 4th, 5th, 6th and 7th RBs in the first frequency set are to be allocated 2001, which inherently, by the allocation as shown in Table II, also specifies that the 9th, 10th, 1st and 2nd RBs of the second frequency set are to be allocated 2002, as in Fig. 20. It will be understood by a person skilled in the art that the assignment shown in Table II is only an example of an RB assignment and other assignments are of course possible. It will also be understood that such arrangements of embodiments of the present technique can be described with reference to the example of Fig. 20 are also applicable to DL transmissions in addition to UL transmissions (PUSCH and PUCCH). Such an assignment may be extended to further frequency sets, ie, an assignment between the first frequency set 2001, the second frequency set 2002, and a third frequency set, as well as assignments between later frequency sets in a BWP or between the first frequency set 2001 and only some of the other frequency sets of the BWP. Table II: Example RB assignment Frequenzsatz 1 Frequenzsatz 2 1. RB 6. RB 2. RB 7. RB 3. RB 8. RB 4. RB 9. RB 5. RB 10. RB 6. RB 1. RB 7. RB 2. RB 8. RB 3. RB 9. RB 4. RB 10. RB 5. RB
[0089] In some arrangements of embodiments of the present technique, the assignment of RBs between one frequency set and RBs in one or more other frequency sets may be configured semi-statically. In other words, the assignment may be configured within RRC signaling received by the communication device from the wireless communication network.
[0090] In some arrangements of embodiments of the present technique, the allocation of RBs between one frequency set and RBs in one or more other frequency sets may be specified in the specifications. In other words, the allocation is predefined and known to the communication device (and indeed, the wireless communication network / infrastructure equipment).
[0091] Fig. 21 shows a flowchart illustrating an exemplary process of communications in a communication system according to embodiments of the present technique. Fig. The process shown in Figure 21 is a method of operating a communication device.
[0092] The method begins in step S1. The method comprises, in step S2, receiving, from a wireless communication network (e.g., from infrastructure equipment of the wireless communication network), a control signal specifying a resource allocation for the communication device either to transmit an uplink transmission to the wireless communication network (e.g., to the infrastructure equipment) or to receive a downlink transmission from the wireless communication network (e.g.,from the infrastructure equipment) within a set of contiguous resource units of a wireless radio interface, wherein the set of contiguous resource units comprises one or more uplink frequency sets, each comprising a plurality of uplink resource units, and one or more downlink frequency sets, each comprising a plurality of downlink resource units, and wherein the resource allocation indicates either at least one of the uplink resource units of a first one of the uplink frequency sets for the uplink transmission or at least one of the downlink resource units of a first one of the downlink frequency sets for the downlink transmission. In step S3, the method comprises receiving, from the wireless communication network (e.g.from the infrastructure equipment), a replication indication, wherein the replication indication indicates either that the resource allocation for the uplink transmission in the first uplink frequency set is repeated in one or more other of the uplink frequency sets and / or in the first uplink frequency set, or that the resource allocation for the downlink transmission in the first downlink frequency set is repeated in one or more other of the downlink frequency sets and / or in the first downlink frequency set. Then, in step S5, the process comprises transmitting the uplink transmission to the wireless communication network (e.g., to the infrastructure equipment) or receiving the downlink transmission from the wireless communication network (e.g., from the infrastructure equipment) according to the resource allocation and the replication indication. The process ends in step S5.
