Abstract

A display device and an electronic device are provided which, for example, are able to suppress the detachment of an adhesive layer from a layer arranged on the outermost surface of a base body connected to a second substrate when the second substrate and the adhesive layer connecting the second substrate to the base body have deteriorated.The display device comprises the following: a base body having a display area and a first substrate; a light-emitting element having a structure in which a first electrode, an organic layer, and a second electrode are laminated onto the first substrate in that order; a protective layer covering the light-emitting element; a color filter formed on the top of the protective layer; and a peripheral light-shielding section formed outside the display area; a second substrate facing a surface of the base body on which the light-emitting element is formed; and an adhesive layer arranged between the base body and the second substrate, bonding the base body and the second substrate together.If, in a top view of the basic body, an area within an inner edge section of the peripheral light-shielding section is a first area and an area outside the inner edge section of the peripheral light-shielding section is a second area, then the basic body has a color filter.
