Description

[0001] The present invention relates to a profile element, in particular a construction profile, comprising a profile body and a deformable sealing element which is attached to the profile body and has a contact surface pointing away from the profile body, on which a first adhesive means for fixing the profile element to a frame part, a wall or the like is provided.

[0002] A profile element having the features of the preamble of claim 1 is known, for example, from WO 2010 / 099935 A1.

[0003] These types of profile elements are used in a variety of ways in construction. One important application is sealing joints, such as those between the frame of a window or door and the adjoining masonry. The adhesive allows for quick and easy placement of the profile element in the desired position. Furthermore, the bonding of the contact surface to the corresponding mating surface, such as the frame or masonry, ensures a reliable seal. Fixing the profile element with the adhesive is generally understood as a pre-fixing step during installation. The final fastening of the profile element to the masonry or frame can be carried out separately after fixing, for example, by embedding it in plaster and / or screwing it in place.

[0004] To give the sealing element a particularly high degree of flexibility, it can be designed, especially when the profile element is installed, to define a cavity. This cavity has a first inner wall section that is spaced away from the profile body and faces it. In principle, the cavity can be completely closed. However, this is not mandatory. The cavity can also be a laterally open space within the sealing element, i.e., between a section on the profile body and a section on the contact surface. Furthermore, the cavity can also be divided into multiple parts or subdivided. The aforementioned inner wall section is an inner wall section insofar as it forms the outer boundary of the cavity. Since the inner wall section faces the profile body, it also forms the boundary of the cavity or cavity section in the opposite direction, i.e., towards the contact surface.Such a sealing element can absorb relatively large movements that can result, for example, from different thermal expansions of frame components and masonry.

[0005] During assembly, a high degree of flexibility in the sealing element can be a disadvantage, as the fixed profile element then moves relatively significantly under transverse stresses, especially laterally. In other words, the fixed profile element tends to wobble during assembly.

[0006] One objective of the invention is to provide a profile element that is user-friendly during assembly and at the same time ensures a reliable seal even with greater movement.

[0007] The problem is solved by a profile element having the features of claim 1 and by a method having the features of claim 8.

[0008] According to the invention, a second adhesive is provided by means of which at least one area of the first inner wall section can be detachably fixed to the profile body in order to keep the sealing element, in particular in a delivery state of the profile element, in a compressed state.

[0009] Fixing the inner wall section, which is spaced apart from the profile body, to the profile body reduces the cavity and thus compresses the sealing element. In this state, the sealing element is only deformable to a relatively small extent or even largely rigid. This increases stability and considerably facilitates handling the profile element during installation, because the profile element has a relatively firm fit after being fixed to the masonry, frame component, or the like. However, since the fixing of the first inner wall section to the profile body is releasable, the cavity can be enlarged later. This can be done, in particular, by applying a tensile force to the profile body in a direction away from the masonry or the frame. After the first inner wall section is detached from the profile body, the sealing element has reached its intended state of use and exhibits a high degree of flexibility. This allows even a larger degree of movement between the profile body and the masonry or frame part to be reliably compensated for.

[0010] The profile body can be made of polyvinyl chloride or metal, for example sheet metal. Preferably, the profile body is at least substantially rigid.

[0011] Depending on the application, the second adhesive can provide either direct or indirect fixation of the first inner wall section to the profile body. For example, an adhesive layer, a material layer of the sealing element, and / or an additional insulating element can be located between the first inner wall section and a surface of the profile body to which the sealing element is attached and which is therefore referred to below as the fixing surface. Preferably, the fixing is such that there is no gap between the releasably fixed area of the first inner wall section and the fixing surface of the profile body.

[0012] Preferably, the first adhesive element comprises an adhesive layer and / or the second adhesive element comprises an adhesive layer. Adhesive layers are cost-effective and can be easily adapted to achieve the desired releasability under tensile stress. Alternatively, the releasable fixing of the first inner wall section to the profile body could also be achieved by snap-fit elements, hook-and-loop fasteners, or similar devices.

[0013] According to an advantageous embodiment of the invention, a tape is attached to the contact surface of the sealing element, in particular by adhesive, wherein the tape itself can be attached directly or indirectly to the frame part, the wall, or the like, in particular by adhesive. The first adhesive can therefore also comprise this tape.

[0014] Furthermore, according to another advantageous embodiment of the invention, the sealing element can be attached to the profile body by means of a band, in particular by adhesive bonding. In this case, the first inner wall section can be fixed to the profile body by means of the second adhesive agent in such a way that the inner wall section can be fixed to the band, which in turn is attached to the profile body, whereby, in principle, further layers, in particular a material layer of the sealing element, can be located between the first inner wall section and the profile body.

[0015] In both of the aforementioned embodiments, it is advantageous if the respective band is designed as a foam band. This allows the contact surface to be moved further towards the profile body even when the sealing element is still or again fully compressed, due to the compression of the foam band. In this way, an additional reserve for compensating for movement can be created. If both bands are provided, preferably at least one of the bands is designed as a foam band.

[0016] If the aforementioned band is attached to the contact surface of the sealing element, and the sealing element is also attached to the profile body via the aforementioned band, it is further preferred if both bands project beyond the sealing element at least on one side, i.e., in at least one of the two transverse directions oriented perpendicular to the longitudinal extent of the profile element and parallel to the contact surface or the aforementioned attachment surface of the profile body, and preferably on both sides, i.e., in both transverse directions. This ensures that the sealing element is largely, and in particular completely, enclosed between the two baths. In the compressed state of the sealing element, the two bands, with their sections projecting beyond the sealing element, can at least approximately abut each other, so that the sealing element is protected from the outside by the projecting bands.

[0017] A particularly simple embodiment of the invention provides that a double-sided adhesive tape or a double-sided foam tape is adhered to the contact surface of the sealing element. A double-sided foam tape comprises a foam element with adhesive layers applied to both sides and gives the sealing element additional flexibility. In particular, one of the aforementioned tapes can be formed by this double-sided adhesive tape or this double-sided foam tape.

[0018] A further specific embodiment provides that the sealing element is adhered to the profile body using double-sided adhesive tape or double-sided foam tape. This allows for particularly simple and cost-effective manufacturing. In particular, the other of the aforementioned tapes can be formed by this double-sided adhesive tape or this double-sided foam tape.

[0019] According to an advantageous embodiment, the sealing element comprises a plastic, which can be, for example, polyvinyl chloride, particularly flexible PVC, or polyurethane. Furthermore, the sealing element is preferably designed as a film, a membrane, or a foam. This has proven advantageous with regard to elasticity and manufacturing costs. To enable particularly simple and cost-effective production, the sealing element can, in particular, be designed as a foam tape. Foam tapes are available in many different variations at relatively low prices.

[0020] The second adhesive can be designed to detachably fix only a central area of the first inner wall section to the profile body. This central area can be positioned at least substantially in the center of the contact surface. If the first inner wall section is only partially fixed to the profile body, subsequent removal is simplified. Furthermore, if a reduction in the cavity size and a corresponding temporary stiffening of the sealing element is desired, it may be sufficient to fix only a relatively small area of the first inner wall section to the profile body.

[0021] According to the invention, the sealing element comprises a flat base body made of a bendable, in particular elastic, material. In particular, this base body can be made of one of the materials mentioned above for the sealing element.

[0022] According to a first embodiment of the invention, the base body is bent into a tubular profile. The aforementioned cavity can then correspond to the interior of the tubular profile. The tubular profile has a laterally open cross-section, i.e., a transverse direction oriented perpendicular to the longitudinal extent of the profile element and parallel to the contact surface or the aforementioned mounting surface of the profile body, so that the aforementioned cavity is also open to the outside. In cross-section, the base body of the sealing element can, in particular, have a U-shape or a C-shape, the opening of which is arranged laterally, i.e., in one of the two transverse directions perpendicular to the longitudinal extent of the profile element, and neither towards the profile body nor towards the contact surface. The lateral opening can, in particular, be formed by a gap between two edges of the tubular profile, which may optionally face each other.

[0023] In a second variant of the invention, alternative to the aforementioned first variant, the sealing element again comprises a planar base body made of a bendable, in particular elastic, material, which, however, has a cross-sectional shape open on both sides, i.e., in opposite lateral directions, so that the cavity is divided in two by the base body and the two parts of the cavity are open outwards in opposite directions. These directions are, in particular, the aforementioned transverse directions, which are perpendicular to the longitudinal extent of the profile element and parallel to the contact surface or the aforementioned mounting surface of the profile body. In cross-section, the base body of the sealing element can, in particular, have an S-shape. Depending on the viewing angle and radii of curvature, the shape can also be considered a 2-shape or a Z-shape.In particular, the shape can comprise a profile-side section that rests on the profile body essentially parallel to the aforementioned mounting surface and whose free end points in one transverse direction; a contact-surface-side section on which the contact surface is formed or arranged and whose free end points in the other transverse direction; and a middle section that connects the profile-side section and the contact-surface-side section, thereby dividing the cavity into two. In the delivered state, i.e., when the sealing element is compressed, the profile-side section, the middle section, and the contact-surface-side section lie flat against each other, thus forming the layers of the three-layer folded sealing element.

[0024] The cross-sections described, as well as those described below, each refer to cross-sections perpendicular to the longitudinal extent of the profile element.

[0025] According to a further advantageous embodiment, the profile body is elongated and extends, in particular with a constant cross-section, along a longitudinal axis. Preferably, the sealing element extends at least substantially over the entire longitudinal extent of the profile body.

[0026] A profile element according to the invention can be designed, in particular, as a connection sealing strip. For this purpose, the profile body can comprise a perforated plaster leg and a drip edge projecting from it. Connection sealing strips are used, in particular, for the reveal connection of windows and doors and generally must be designed for a comparatively large degree of movement.

[0027] The invention also relates to a method for manufacturing a profile element, in particular a profile element as described above, comprising the steps: (i) providing a profile body, and (ii) attaching a deformable sealing element to the profile body such that a cavity is formed which has a first inner wall section spaced apart from and pointing towards the profile body.

[0028] According to the invention, (iii) the sealing element is compressed, reducing the cavity, and (iv) at least one area of the first inner wall section is fixed to the profile body by means of an adhesive to keep the sealing element in a compressed state, at least temporarily.

[0029] Step (iii) of compressing the sealing element serves only to prepare for the subsequent step (iv) by ensuring that the sealing element assumes its compressed state, in which it is then held by fixing the inner wall section to the profile body. If the sealing element is already in its compressed state, the compression in step (iii) can therefore be limited to ensuring that the sealing element is compressed.

[0030] By fixing the first inner wall section to the profile body, for example by gluing, the sealing element can be held in its compressed state, at least temporarily, in a particularly simple manner. After installation, the first inner wall section can then be detached from the profile body, for example by tensile stress, in order to bring the sealing element back to its intended state, in which it exhibits increased deformability or elasticity compared to the compressed state. This allows for the greatest possible compensation of movement between the profile body and the contact surface of the sealing element, which is used to fix the profile element to a respective component.

[0031] According to the invention, in step (ii) a planar base body made of a bendable, in particular elastic, material, which may, for example, comprise a foam, a film and / or a polyvinyl chloride, in particular flexible PVC, and which may in particular be designed as a foam strip, is bent into a tube-like profile that is closed on all sides or open on one side, or into a shape open on both sides and dividing the cavity in two; subsequently, the base body, in its bent state, is adhered to the profile body by means of a strip, in particular by means of a double-sided adhesive tape or a double-sided foam adhesive tape. The cavity, which may be enclosed (O-shape or C-shape open towards the profile body), open to the outside on the side (U- or C-shape open on the side), or open to the outside on both sides (S- or Z-shape), is created when the base body is bent into shape and therefore does not need to be introduced into the material in a complex manner.

[0032] When bending the flat base body into a tubular profile with a U or C shape, a gap can be left between the edges of the flat base body, particularly those facing each other, so that the flat base body is bent into a ring with an open cross-section. The gap can then point in one of the aforementioned transverse directions, so that the cavity is open laterally.

[0033] Further developments of the invention can also be found in the dependent claims, the description and the accompanying drawings.

[0034] The invention is described below by way of example with reference to the drawings. Fig. 1 shows, in a schematic cross-sectional view, an unclaimed first embodiment of a profile element in its delivered state. Fig. 2 shows the profile element according to Fig. 1 Fig. 3 shows, in a schematic cross-sectional view, an unclaimed second embodiment of a profile element in a delivery state (top), a section of the profile element in a mounted state (middle), and the same section in a stretched state (bottom). Fig. 4 shows, in a schematic cross-sectional view, an unclaimed third embodiment of a profile element in a delivery state (top), a section of the profile element in a mounted state (middle), and the same section in a stretched state (bottom). Fig. 5 shows, in a schematic cross-sectional view, a first embodiment of a profile element according to the invention in a delivery state (top), a section of the profile element in a mounted state (middle), and the same section in a stretched state (bottom).Figure 6 shows, in a schematic cross-sectional view, a second embodiment of a profile element according to the invention in a delivery state (top), a section of the profile element in a mounted state (middle), and the same section in a stretched state (bottom).

[0035] The in the Fig. 1 and 2 The illustrated, unclaimed profile element 11 has a profile body 13 made of a material that is at least substantially rigid, for example polyvinyl chloride or metal. The profile body 13 is preferably elongated and has a longitudinal axis 19 which, according to the figure, extends perpendicular to the plane of the drawing and along which the profile element 11 has a cross-section that is at least substantially constant.

[0036] The in the Fig. 1 and 2The unstressed profile element 11 shown is designed as a sealing strip. For this purpose, the profile body 13 has, in a generally known manner, a plaster leg 15 and two transverse legs 17, 18 projecting laterally from it. End flanges 20 are located at the outer end regions of the transverse legs 17, 18. A mounting surface 21, extending away from the plaster leg 15 and formed by the transverse legs 17, 18, is, as shown, at least substantially flat. A double-sided adhesive tape 22 is applied to the mounting surface 21. A deformable sealing element 25 is attached to the mounting surface 21 of the profile body 13 by means of the double-sided adhesive tape 22. The section of the sealing element 25 extending away from the profile body 13 forms a contact surface 33 for contact with a wall 40, a frame part, or the like. Another double-sided adhesive tape 35 is applied to the contact surface 33.

[0037] The sealing element 25 comprises a planar base body 27 made of a flexible and elastic material. In particular, the base body 27 can be a foam strip. The sealing element 25, like the profile body 13, is elongated and preferably extends at least substantially along the entire length of the profile body 13. The planar base body 27 is bent such that, in cross-section, it forms an open loop. That is, there is a gap 30 between the facing edges 31, 32 of the bent base body 27.

[0038] Due to the loop-like shape of the base body 27, the sealing element 25 defines a cavity 45, which has a first inner wall section 47 facing the profile body 13 and an opposing second inner wall section 48. The second inner wall section 48 is interrupted by the gap 30.

[0039] Due to the gap 30, the double-sided adhesive tape 22 applied to the mounting surface 21 is partially exposed. A central area 37 of the first inner wall section 47 is in the Fig. 1 The profile element 11 is glued to the mounting surface 21 of the profile body 13 in the delivery state shown, using the double-sided adhesive tape 22.

[0040] Preferably, the gap 30 is arranged centrally with respect to the mounting surface 21, as shown. Furthermore, it is preferred that the size of the gap 30 is relatively small in relation to the size of the mounting surface 21, although this is not mandatory.

[0041] Due to the area 37 of the inner wall section 47 being bonded to the profile body 13, the sealing element 25 is compressed in the shown delivery state of the profile element 11 and therefore exhibits comparatively high stability. In particular, it is only slightly deformable in transverse directions 38 running parallel to the mounting surface 21 and perpendicular to the longitudinal axis 19. The profile element 11 can therefore be easily placed on a wall 40 with the contact surface 33 facing forward and bonded to it, whereby a protective film (not shown) may need to be removed beforehand from the double-sided adhesive tape 35 applied to the contact surface 33.

[0042] If, after the profile element 11 has been fixed at a desired position on the wall 40 as described, a tensile force 41 pointing away from the wall 40 ( Fig. 2 When pressure is applied to the profile body 13, the central area 37 of the inner wall section 47 detaches from the double-sided adhesive tape 22. The sealing element 25 then defines an enlarged cavity 45.

[0043] The in Fig. 2 The depicted state of the sealing element 25, with spaced-apart inner wall sections 47, 48 of the cavity 45 and the first inner wall section 47 spaced from the profile body 13, corresponds to the assembled state of the profile element 11. In this state, the sealing element 25 exhibits particularly high flexibility, both in and against the direction of the tensile force 41, as well as transversely to it. This means that the sealing element 25 can accommodate relatively large movements between the profile body 13 and the wall 40.

[0044] Once the profile body 13 has reached the desired final position, the profile element 11 can be plastered in. Here, one of the transverse legs 17, 18 serves as a screed edge for the plaster, while the other transverse leg 17, 18 acts as a spacer to an unplastered surface. Fig. 1 and 2 The section of masonry not shown serves this purpose. A section formed in the plaster leg 15, in Fig. 1 and 2 The inconspicuous perforation ensures reliable plaster adhesion.

[0045] During the production of the in the Fig. 1 and 2In the unclaimed profile element 11 shown, the profile body 13 is first provided, and the double-sided adhesive tape 22 is applied to the mounting surface 21 of the profile body 13. If necessary, a protective film (not shown) is removed from the double-sided adhesive tape 22. The flat base body 27, preferably in the form of a foam strip, is then provided, cut to size if required, and bent into a tube-like profile. The edges 31, 32 of the base body 27 are not brought completely against each other, but are left at a predetermined distance from each other, which defines the width of the gap 30. The base body 27 is then adhered to the profile body 13 with the gap 30 leading, using the double-sided adhesive tape 22. The second inner wall section 48 is then brought against the first inner wall section 47, thereby reducing the size of the cavity 45.The joining process continues until the central area 37 of the second inner wall section 48 adheres firmly to the double-sided adhesive tape 22. Subsequently, the additional double-sided adhesive tape 35 is applied to the exposed front surface of the base body 27, which forms the contact surface 33 of the sealing element 25. Alternatively, a base body 27 could be provided at the beginning of the manufacturing process with the additional double-sided adhesive tape 35 already applied to it. After the second inner wall section 48 has adhered to the profile body 13, the profile element 11 can be delivered.

[0046] Due to the temporarily reduced deformability of the sealing element 25, handling the profile element 11 during assembly, and in particular fixing it to the masonry or frame part, is facilitated. In principle, the second inner wall section 48 could also be glued to the first inner wall section 47. In such an embodiment, it would not be absolutely necessary to provide a gap 30 between the edges 31, 32. For example, double-sided adhesive tape could instead be applied to the first inner wall section 47 or to the second inner wall section 48. In such a design, the sealing element 25 could be configured as a completely closed tubular profile, as described below and in Fig. 4 The case is the unclaimed embodiment shown.

[0047] The Fig. 3 and 4 show two further unstressed profile elements 11; in addition, the Fig. 5 and 6 Two embodiments of a profile element 11 according to the invention. In all four cases, the profile body 13 is identical in construction to the profile body 13 of the one described in the Fig. 1 and 2 The profile element 11 shown is designed as described above and will therefore not be described again. However, the profile elements 11 differ from one another with respect to other elements. Elements that are fundamentally equivalent to one another, particularly with regard to their respective functions, are each marked with the same reference numeral, even if they are designed differently in the various embodiments.

[0048] The in the Fig. 3 bis 6 The profile elements 11 shown are depicted in the upper part of each figure in their as-delivered state, in which the sealing element 25 is compressed by detachably fixing at least one section of the first inner wall segment 47 of the sealing element 25 to the profile body 13. In contrast, the middle and lower parts of each figure show a section of the respective embodiment in its assembled (normal) state (middle) and in a correspondingly extended state (bottom), respectively. The profile element 11 can assume this extended state when it is assembled and the component to which it is fixed with its contact surface 33 moves away from the other component to which the profile body 13 is attached. The flexibility of the sealing element 25 ensures that the joint between the components remains sealed despite such relative movement.

[0049] The one in the Fig. 3 bis 6 The profile elements shown in section 11 have in common that they differ from the one shown in the Fig. 1 and 2The profile element 11 shown differs in that, instead of the thin double-sided adhesive tapes 22, 35, thicker tapes designed as double-sided foam adhesive tapes 49, 51 are provided. The sealing element 25 is connected to the mounting surface 21 via one tape designed as a double-sided foam adhesive tape 49 and has the other tape designed as a double-sided foam adhesive tape 51 at its contact surface 33, so that the sealing element 25 is arranged between the two tapes. The use of foam adhesive tapes 49, 51 complements the compressibility of the sealing element 25 with the compressibility of the foam adhesive tapes 49, 51, so that the profile element 11 can not only compensate for relative movements of the components between which the profile element 11 is inserted away from each other by means of the deformable sealing element 25, but can also accommodate particularly large relative movements of the components towards each other.

[0050] Both belts are positioned in the aforementioned transverse directions 38, both in the delivery state and in the mounted and, if applicable, extended state (see below). Fig. 1 ) on both sides over the sealing element 25, so that in the delivered state, when the two bands are almost abutting each other, the sealing element 25 is almost completely enclosed by the bands and is hardly accessible from the outside. The two bands have at least essentially identical dimensions.

[0051] The in the Fig. 3 bis 6 The profile elements 11 shown differ from each other essentially in the shape of the base body 27 of the respective sealing element 25.

[0052] At the in Fig. 3 In the unclaimed embodiment shown, the sealing element 25 is similar to that in the embodiment shown in the Fig. 1 and 2The profile element 11 shown is formed. The flat base body 27 is bent into a tubular profile, with a gap 30 left between the opposing edges of the base body 27, forming a recess in the second inner wall section 48 opposite the first inner wall section 47. This allows the first inner wall section 47 to be detachably fixed to the profile body 13 in the delivery state (above) by being adhered to the double-sided foam adhesive tape 49 with a central area 37 through the gap 30.

[0053] The in Fig. 4 The unclaimed embodiment shown is the one in Fig. 3 The embodiment shown is very similar. However, here the base body 27 of the sealing element 25 has a completely closed, tube-like shape, so that no gap is provided. In the delivered state (above), the first inner wall section 47 is therefore not detachably bonded to the double-sided foam adhesive tape 49 through a recess, but directly to the opposite second inner wall section 48 and thus indirectly detachably fixed to the profile body 13 via the second inner wall section 48 and the double-sided foam adhesive tape 49. The adhesive means provided for bonding the first inner wall section 47 to the second inner wall section 48 can, for example, be formed by an adhesive layer applied to one of the inner wall sections 47, 48.

[0054] One of the in the Fig. 3 and 4 The illustrated profile elements 11 similar embodiment according to the invention is in Fig. 5 shown. In this first embodiment according to the invention, the tubular shape into which the base body 27 is bent is as shown in the Fig. 3 and 4 The profile elements 11 shown are not completely closed, but interrupted. However, the gap between the edges of the base body 27 is different from that shown in the Fig. 3 and 4 The profile elements 11 shown are not aligned towards the profile body 13, but rather in a direction parallel to the mounting surface of the profile body 13 and to the longitudinal axis 19 (cf. Fig. 2 ) of the profile body 13 is aligned in the vertical transverse direction 38. The resulting U-shape of the tubular profile is open laterally, so that the cavity 45 is also different from that in the Fig. 3 and 4The profile elements 11 shown are open to the outside. Since the opening is oriented laterally and the second inner wall section 48 therefore has no recess, the first inner wall section 47 is, in the delivery state (above), as in the Fig. 4 The profile elements 11 shown are detachably glued to the second inner wall section 48 and thereby detachably fixed to the profile body 13 via the second inner wall section 48 and the double-sided foam adhesive tape 49, whereby an adhesive layer applied to one of the inner wall sections 47, 48 can again be provided as an adhesive agent.

[0055] At the in Fig. 6 In the second embodiment of the invention shown, the planar base body 27 of the sealing element 25 is folded into three layers in the delivered state (top), wherein the first inner wall section 47, which is formed by the section of the contact-surface layer furthest from the profile body 13 that points towards it, is bonded to the adjacent middle layer for releasable fixation to the profile body 13. Alternatively or additionally, a section 47' of the middle layer that points towards the profile body 13 in the delivered state could also be bonded to the profile-side layer closest to the profile body 13 and thus releasably fixed to the profile body 13. An adhesive layer applied at the appropriate location can be provided as the bonding agent in each case. Regardless of at which of the two locations the fixation takes place, or whether it takes place at both locations, the sealing element 25 is delivered in the state shown in the illustration. Fig. 6 maintained the compact state shown above.

[0056] In the assembled state (center), the two double-sided foam adhesive tapes 49, 51 are spaced considerably further apart, so that the fixing of the first inner wall section 47 detaches from the profile body 13. Due to the double bending, the base body 27 of the sealing element 25 assumes an S-shape or Z-shape, which divides the cavity 45 between the profile-side position and the contact-surface-side position of the base body 27 into two parts 45.1, 45.2, which are open outwards in opposite transverse directions 38.

[0057] As with the profile elements 11 described above, the following can be observed in the Fig. 6 In the profile element 11 shown according to the invention, the sealing element 25 can be stretched to the state shown below or compressed again to the compressed state shown above in order to reliably bridge and seal joints that expand or contract, without the stability of the fastening of the profile element 11 to the respective components being impaired by the movements.

[0058] The advantages of a temporarily compressed sealing element 25 are particularly evident in connection sealing strips, jamb connection profiles, and the like. In principle, however, the invention can be implemented in all types of profile elements where a deformable, especially elastic, sealing element must accommodate a comparatively large degree of movement.
