Abstract
Description
[0001] Manual juicer
[0002] The invention relates to a manual juicer, in particular for fruits such as nuts, tropical fruits, citrus fruits or pomegranates, consisting of a stand with a base, an upper pressing head which can be manually moved vertically via a lever arm and a lower receiving housing with a pressing insert.
[0003] Manual juicers consist of a stand with a base, whereby the base is dimensioned so that the juicer has a secure stand. The upper pressing head can be manually adjusted in height using a lever arm, whereby the lever arm is designed to achieve sufficient pressing pressure. The pressing head is pressed into a receiving housing with a pressing insert after tropical fruits, nuts, citrus fruits or a pomegranate have been placed inside. With the help of the upper pressing head, the fruit is pressed against the pressing insert of the receiving housing so that the fruit juice can flow out. The receiving housing usually has an outlet in the lower area so that the fruit juice can flow through the outlet, for example into a container or a glass.Such juicers are used in the home, but also in offices to provide family members or staff with freshly squeezed juice.
[0004] Because this is a manual juicer, the fruit residue must be removed from the juicer housing after juicing. Depending on the pressure applied, the fruit residue may be crushed to the point where it is no longer in a single piece, requiring considerable manual effort to remove the residue from the juicer housing.
[0005] The present invention is therefore based on the objective of improving the disposal of fruit residues by making them easier to remove from the receiving housing. To achieve this objective, the receiving housing is designed to accommodate a press assembly consisting of a press insert and a manually operable pulp remover. Further advantageous embodiments of the invention are set out in the dependent claims.
[0006] The press assembly used consists of a press insert and a manually operated pulp remover. Using a pulp remover for the fruit residues makes disposal of the residues much easier. The juicer operator no longer has to remove the residues by hand or laboriously clean the receiving housing of the residues; instead, they can now use the pulp remover to lift the residues from the press insert so that they can be quickly disposed of in a provided waste bin for organic waste. The pulp remover, together with the press insert, lies in the receiving housing, and the press insert remains in the receiving housing; only the pulp remover is lifted so that the pulp remover, along with the residue, can be removed from the receiving housing.Furthermore, the housing, the press insert, and the pulp remover can easily be cleaned under running water if necessary and then reused. Such thorough cleaning is usually only necessary after several pressing cycles.
[0007] In one embodiment of the invention, the pulp remover consists of an annular segment with at least one inwardly directed web and a handle, wherein the annular segment is preferably designed as a circular ring. The annular segment has an inner diameter which is slightly larger than the diameter of the pressing insert so that the segment can be guided over the pressing insert. With the help of the inwardly directed web, preferably several webs, the fruit residues are lifted up at the same time when the pulp remover is lifted so that they can be disposed of properly. For this purpose, the pressing insert has corresponding recesses in which the web(s) lie.
[0008] The pulp remover can preferably be equipped with two, four, six, or eight bars arranged in the plane of the annular segment. Multiple bars facilitate the lifting of the residues. These bars are preferably arranged in opposite pairs and have a width of approximately 4 mm to 10 mm to form a sufficient contact surface for the residues to be completely lifted and thus removed via the pressing insert. If the bars are arranged in opposite pairs, for example, with a total of four bars, the pressed parts of the fruit are lifted evenly, thus preventing them from falling. The higher the number of bars, the more securely the residues are held on the pulp remover.
[0009] Alternatively, the pulp remover can consist of a sieve insert with a handle. This sieve insert is preferably used for smaller fruits such as grapes or similar, which can also be juiced using a manual juicer. To better remove the skins from smaller fruits, a sieve insert is used in this case, on which the skins rest and can be easily disposed of after being lifted out of the housing.
[0010] To operate the pulp remover, it is provided with a handle which protrudes radially outwards at least twice over the upper edge of the housing. This allows the juicer operator to easily grasp the pulp remover and remove it upwards from the housing along with the residue. Alternatively, the pulp remover can be equipped with a thickened edge instead of a handle, which also offers the possibility of grasping the pulp remover and lifting it together with the residue in order to dispose of the residue. In an embodiment of the invention, it is provided that the handle is connected in one piece to the annular segment and that the annular segment, the webs and the handle are made of a flat material. The material itself can be made of stainless steel, for example, but also of a plastic material. The flat design provides a large contact surface with the underside of the residue, thus not only lifting all residues but also allowing them to rest securely on the pulp remover. The sieve insert can also be manufactured in a similar shape, also with a handle that is integrally connected to the sieve insert. Both the sieve insert and the handle can be made of stainless steel or a plastic material. In this design variant, the sieve insert can also consist of a flat disc with perforations, to which the handle is integrally molded.
[0011] In a further embodiment of the invention, the pressing insert is provided with recesses corresponding to the webs so that the webs can lie in the recesses. Preferably, the pressing insert, like the pulp remover, is provided with two, four, six or eight recesses to accommodate the webs of the pulp remover. For this purpose, the webs and recesses are each provided with an identical angular distance from one another so that the pulp remover can be inserted at different angles to the juicer depending on the number of webs present. It is easily possible for the number of recesses in the pressing insert to be greater than the number of webs so that the pulp remover can be inserted into the pressing insert in different rotational positions.
[0012] In a further embodiment of the invention, the diameter of the annular segment is larger than the diameter of the pressing insert. This ensures that the pulp remover can be easily attached to the pressing insert, regardless of the number of ribs or recesses in the pressing insert. The pressing insert further consists of a hemisphere with a circumferential rim, which is located in the receiving housing. This allows for the interchangeability of different pressing inserts, for which corresponding pulp removers can be provided if necessary.
[0013] In a further embodiment of the invention, the edge of the press insert has a wave-shaped structure on the upper side, such that the lowest point is located in the area of the recesses. This measure ensures that the pressed juice can flow laterally from the edge to the recesses provided. The recesses extend through the press insert to the underside of the press insert, allowing the pressed juice to flow downward into a funnel or the like.
[0014] To facilitate insertion of the pulp remover, the recess in the press insert is wider than the width of the pulp remover's ribs, allowing sufficient clearance to easily place the pulp remover onto the press insert. To ensure easy insertion of the press insert into a lower collecting tray, the recesses in the lower, circumferential edge of the press insert are V-shaped. If a sieve insert is included, this also rests within the housing and can be lifted using the handle to remove the residue.
[0015] The juicer is also equipped with an upper pressing head, which is shaped like a hemisphere, for example, and is intended for attachment to a vertically arranged pressure block. The pressure block is part of the manual juicer and can be adjusted vertically using a lever arm, so that the lever arm applies appropriate pressure to the pressure block, which in turn is intended to be used to press the tropical fruits or pomegranates. The upper pressing head is preferably bell-shaped and can be screwed to the pressure block, for example. Alternatively, the upper pressing head can have an inner bowl, which is held in the pressing head by a clamp, for example. The inner bowl can be easily removed from the upper pressing head, so that the inner bowl can also be cleaned.
[0016] In a special embodiment of the invention, the press head is provided with a radial recess on the inside below the screw connection or the inner shell. This radial recess serves to accommodate the stem ends, for example, of a pomegranate, so that the pressing pressure is not exerted on the stem, but rather on the lateral shells of the pomegranate, for optimal juice extraction. The stem thus rests in the recess and is not crushed during the pressing process.
[0017] In a further embodiment of the invention, the upper pressing head consists of a hollow cylinder with a base. In this case, the base is oriented upwards so that the fruit resting on the sieve insert can be crushed. The hollow cylinder can have a low overall height in this case; it is important that the base comes into contact with the fruit, allowing it to be pressed between the base and the sieve. Alternatively, a plunger can be used for pressing.
[0018] Furthermore, it is possible for the upper press head to be provided with a splash guard, which, for example, is arched and covers the press head, so that fruit juice splashing upwards is caught and drips from the splash guard into the lower housing.
[0019] In a further embodiment of the invention, a lower pressing bowl for the pressing insert is equipped with vertically running beads that project inwards and correspond to the slots. The beads prevent the pressing insert from twisting on its own, while the pressed juice can still flow downwards through the slots and the receiving pressing bowl has a hole through which the juice can flow. The base of the pressing bowl is conical or stepped for this purpose. The pressing bowl itself is pot-shaped with a circumferential rim into which the beads are pressed inwards, wherein the beads extend at least over part of the height of the circumferential rim in the vertical direction of the pressing bowl.
[0020] The present invention is characterized in that a manual juicer is equipped with a pulp remover, which facilitates the removal of residues from, for example, tropical fruits or pomegranates. The pulp remover serves to lift the residues from the receiving housing and dispose of them properly. After the residues have been disposed of, the pulp remover can be reinserted into the receiving housing. To lift the residues, the pulp remover is advantageously equipped with at least one, preferably several, webs that grasp the residues and lift them upwards. Both the pressing insert and the pulp remover are equipped with a certain number of corresponding webs or recesses so that the webs can each lie in the existing recesses. The pulp remover is generously sized so that it can be placed on the press insert without jamming, and the ribs rest in the recesses. The recesses also serve as a drainage aid for the pressed juice, which can be collected in a lower funnel and, if necessary, poured into another container or a glass.
[0021] In an alternative embodiment, a sieve insert is used instead of a press insert, on which smaller fruits can be stored and pressed using a hollow cylindrical press head or plunger. In this case, too, the fruit residue can be removed from the housing using a pulp remover.

[0039] Fig. 17 shows a perspective view of the pressing head with splash guard.
[0040] Figure 1 shows a perspective view of a manual juicer 100, which consists of a base 101, a stand 102 and a pivoting lever arm 103. The base 101 is approximately U-shaped and has two legs 104, 105, which ensure stability, whereby a glass or other container, for example, can be placed between the two legs 104 and 105. Directly above the base 101 is a receiving housing 106, which can be used to hold different pressing inserts. A pressing head 107 is connected to the lever arm 103 via a push rod 108, so that when the lever arm 103 is pressed down, the pressing head 107 can be moved vertically. The push rod 108 is received in a joint 109 of the stand 102. The stand 102 itself has a handle 110 to stabilize the juicer if necessary.
[0041] The other figures relate to the possible uses of the receiving housing 106 and the pressing head 107. Figure 2 shows a perspective view of a pulp remover 1 which is equipped with an annular segment 2 consisting of a full circle, with webs 3 aligned towards the center and a handle 4. Both the annular segment 2 and the webs 3 and the handle 4 are made of a flat material, preferably stainless steel, but they can also be a plastic material. The webs are each offset by 90 degrees and point to the center of the segment 2. The handle 4 is formed in one piece onto the segment 2 and has a first bend 5 and a second bend 6, so that the end of the handle 4 is offset parallel to the plane of the segment 2.The bends 5 and 6 are designed in such a way that the handle 4 protrudes from the receiving housing so that the pulp remover 1 can be lifted.
[0042] Figures 3.1 to 3.4 show the pulp remover 1 in a top and side view, as well as in a developed view. The top view reveals the embodiment as already known from Figure 1, namely with an annular segment 2, the webs 3 and a handle 4. The side view, in contrast, reveals the height offset between the annular segment 2 and the handle 4. The further illustration of the bending also shows the pulp remover 1, from which it can be seen that the pulp remover 1 is punched out of the desired material in one piece, and the handle 4 is brought into the desired position by bending it twice.
[0043] Figures 4.1 and 4.2 show two perspective views of a pressing insert 10, specifically the top and bottom of the pressing insert 10. The pressing insert 10 is inserted into the receiving housing and has recesses 11 distributed around the circumference, which have a corresponding angular distance to the webs 3 of the pulp remover 1. The pressing insert consists of a hemisphere, in which the recesses are machined on the one hand and, on the other hand, a circumferential edge 12 is formed, which has a wave-shaped structure that slopes down towards the recesses so that the pressed-out liquid can drain off. From the perspective bottom view of the pressing head, it can be seen that the recesses 11 extend into the underside of the pressing head 10 so that the pressed-out liquid can drip down. With its flat underside, the press insert 10 comes to rest in the receiving housing, which also has a drain at the bottom so that the pressed juice can run off into a container or, if necessary, into a glass placed underneath.
[0044] Figures 5.1 to 5.3 show three views, namely a side view, a top view, and a sectional view, of the pressing insert 10, as known from Figure 3. The first side view shows the hemispherical shape of the pressing insert 10, as well as the peripheral edge 12, which has a wave-like structure corresponding to the respective recesses 11. The top view shows the four recesses 11, which correspond to the webs 3 of the pulp remover 1. The sectional view along the section line AA shows a section along two opposite recesses 11, so that only the central core area of the pressing insert 10 is shown in section.
[0045] Figures 6.1 to 6.5 show, in two perspective and three further views, a pressing insert 13 which, compared to the embodiment according to Figure 5, has slots 14 which open in a V-shape in the lower circumferential edge 15. The slots 14 are provided, on the one hand, for the fruit juice to drip off and, on the other hand, through the V-shaped opening, serve to facilitate insertion into a pressing bowl, as shown in Figure 7. The pressing insert 13 has, for example, four slots 14, each offset by 90 degrees, and is designed with hollow walls, so that the lower central region 17 of the pressing insert 13 is hollow. In this case, the slots 14 are each delimited by a U-shaped web 16. The V-shaped opening 18 of the slots 14 is clearly visible from the present views.
[0046] Figures 7.1 to 7.4 show a pressing bowl 25 that tapers downwards in a stepped manner. The pressing bowl 25 is cup-shaped and has a beveled, circumferential edge 26 in the upper area and ridges 27 on the inside. The ridges 27 extend vertically over approximately the entire height of the circumferential edge 28. The bottom also has a hole 29 through which the fruit juice can drain.
[0047] Figure 8 shows a perspective top view of the press shell 25 with the press insert 13 inserted. The beads 27 protect the press insert 13 from twisting within the press shell 25, with the V-shaped extensions 18 each receiving the beads 27.
[0048] Figures 9.1 to 9.2 show two perspective views, one from above and one from below, of the upper pressing head 20, which is connected to a pressure rod of the juicer. For this purpose, the pressing head 20 has a hexagonal recess 21 in an upper cylindrical section 22. The pressing head 20 is otherwise also hollow-spherical in shape, forming a hemisphere, the inner surface of which is intended to rest against the tropical fruits or pomegranates and, due to the pressure exerted by a lever arm, can squeeze juice from the tropical fruits or the pomegranate. Alternatively, the pressing head 20 can also be equipped with an inner shell, which is clamped within the pressing head 20 and can be removed for cleaning.
[0049] Figures 10.1 to 10.4 show a total of four views of the pressing head 20, as known from Figure 5. A side view shows the basic bell-shaped form of the pressing head 20, the inner surface 23 of which rests against the tropical fruits or pomegranates. A cylindrical projection 22 with a hexagonal recess 21 serves for connection to a pressure block of the juicer. The inner surface 23 has a radial recess 24, in which, for example, the stem of a pomegranate can be placed, so that the stem is not pressed, but only the outer shell of the pomegranate. As long as tropical fruits are to be squeezed, this radial recess 24 is not important. A first top view shows the underside of the pressing head 20, and a second top view shows the top of the pressing head 20 with the hexagonal recess 21 and the cylindrical section 22.The sectional drawing along section line AA further shows the wall structure of the pressing head 20, with the cylindrical section 22 and the hexagonal recess 21 as well as the inner side 23 with the radial recess 24.
[0050] Figures 11.1 to 11.3 show, in a perspective view and two side views, a pulp remover 30 as used together with a sieve insert according to Figure 11. The pulp remover 30 consists of a disc 31 provided with a plurality of openings 32. The openings 32 serve to drain the fruit juice, while the fruit residue remains on the disc 31. A handle 33 is integrally formed on the disc 31. The handle 33 consists of two sections that are angled twice relative to the disc 31.
[0051] The shape of the pulp remover 30 can be seen again from the side view and top view, with the disc 31 and the openings 32 as well as the handle 33.
[0052] Figures 12.1 to 12.3 show, in a perspective and two side views, a pressing insert 40 with openings 41 provided for draining the fruit juice. The pressing insert 40, in the form of a flat disc 42, is inserted into the receiving housing, and the pulp remover 30 is then placed onto it before the fruit is placed into the receiving housing. The pressing insert 40 and pulp remover 30 are preferably used for smaller nuts such as grapes or strawberries.
[0053] Figures 13.1 and 13.2 show two perspective views of a pressing head 50, as used with the pulp remover 30 and the pressing insert 40. The upper pressing head 50 consists of a cylindrical pressure plunger 50, which can be connected to the pressure rod via a receiving opening 52. The pressing head 50 can consist of a flat disc or, alternatively, a short hollow cylinder with a base.
[0054] Figures 14.1 to 14.3 show in three views the pressing head 50 as already shown in Figure 13, with a cylindrical pressure stamp 51 and a receptacle 52 for connection to the pressure rod.
[0055] Figure 15 shows a perspective view of the construction of the press insert, as used, for example, for smaller fruits. The housing 60 serves to insert a press insert 40 and a pulp remover 30, onto which the fruits to be pressed are then placed. Above the pulp remover 30 is a pressing head 50, which can be moved vertically using the lever arm, thus pressing the inserted fruits. The entire assembly is integrated into the manual juicer and can be used as needed.
[0056] Figure 16 shows a side view and a sectional view along section line AA of a pressing device 70, consisting of a receiving housing 71, a pressing insert 72 inserted therein and an insertable pulp remover, which is not shown in the drawings, however, and a pressing head 73, which can be moved vertically with the aid of a lever arm, wherein an operative connection of the lever arm to a pressure rod 74 is made via a toothing 75. The pressing head 73 in this case consists of a flat disc which has circumferentially distributed recesses 76 which correspond to the beads 77 of the pressing pot 71, so that the pressing head 73 lies in the receiving housing 71 in a rotationally secure manner. In order to prevent the fruit juice from splashing upwards, a splash guard 78 is provided which curves bell-shaped over the pressing insert 73.
[0057] The sectional view along section AA shows, on the one hand, the applied press screen 72 and, on the other hand, the recess 76, which are arranged corresponding to the beads 77. Figure 17 shows a perspective view of the pressing device 70, as known from Figure 16. The receiving housing 71 is shown semi-transparent in this case, so that the pressing insert 72 with holes 79 for draining the fruit juice is visible. The beads 77 simultaneously form an anti-twist device and correspond to the recesses 76 of the pressing head 73, which is covered by a splash guard 78.
