Description

COMMUNICATION RESOURCE USAGE BASED ON CROSS-LINK INTERFERENCE MEASUREMENTBACKGROUND

[0001] Field of the Disclosure

[0002] Aspects of the present disclosure relate to wireless communications, and more particularly, to techniques for selecting resources for communicating based on resources scheduled for performing cross-link interference (CLI) measurement.

[0003] Description of Related Art

[0004] Wireless communications systems are widely deployed to provide various telecommunication services such as telephony, video, data, messaging, broadcasts, or other similar types of services. These wireless communications systems may employ multiple-access technologies capable of supporting communications with multiple users by sharing available wireless communications system resources with those users

[0005] Although wireless communications systems have made great technological advancements over many years, challenges still exist. For example, complex and dynamic environments can still attenuate or block signals between wireless transmitters and wireless receivers. Accordingly, there is a continuous desire to improve the technical performance of wireless communications systems, including, for example: improving speed and data carrying capacity of communications, improving efficiency of the use of shared communications mediums, reducing power used by transmitters and receivers while performing communications, improving reliability of wireless communications, avoiding redundant transmissions and / or receptions and related processing, improving the coverage area of wireless communications, increasing the number and types of devices that can access wireless communications systems, increasing the ability for different types of devices to intercommunicate, increasing the number and type of wireless communications mediums available for use, and the like. Consequently, there exists a need for further improvements in wireless communications systems to overcome the aforementioned technical challenges and others.

[0006] SUMMARY

[0007] A user equipment (UE) may be configured to use certain communication resources to perform cross-link interference (CLI) measurement. Such communication  resources may be referred to as CLI measurement resources. For example, a network entity may send an indication to the UE to use certain communication resources as CLI measurement resources. In some cases, the UE may also be configured to send other types of uplink communications on the same communication resources the UE is configured to perform CLI measurement. For example, the UE may be configured to send repetitions of physical uplink shared channel (PUSCH) , sounding reference signals, demodulation reference signals, and / or the like, in the same communication resources the UE is configured to perform CLI measurement. However, it may not be possible for the UE to both perform CLI measurement and send uplink communications in the same communication resources. For example, the additional interference from sending uplink communications may cause CLI measurements to be inaccurate.

[0008] Accordingly, certain aspects herein provide techniques for the UE to use certain resources for sending uplink communications that avoid CLI measurement resources. Advantageously, this allows the UE to send uplink communications without interfering with CLI measurements, thereby leading to more accurate CLI measurements. For example, certain aspects provide techniques for a UE to not use CLI measurement resources to transmit PUSCH repetitions (e.g., PUSCH repetition Type B) . In particular, in certain aspects, a UE is configured to encode a transport block around any resources of a PUSCH repetition that are CLI measurement resources, such that the UE sends the transport block in resources of the PUSCH repetition that are not CLI measurement resources. In another example, certain aspects provide techniques for a UE to not count a slot as available for communication when any symbols of the slot are used for CLI measurement (i.e., are part of a CLI measurement resource) , or when any symbols of the slot allocated for uplink transmission (e.g., uplink only symbol or a flexible symbol) are used for CLI measurement. Accordingly, the UE advantageously shifts transmission of uplink transmissions to slots where symbols of the slot are not used for CLI measurement, thereby avoiding interference.

[0009] One aspect provides a method for wireless communication at a user equipment (UE) . The method includes obtaining an indication of one or more cross link interference (CLI) measurement resources, the one or more CLI measurement resources being resources for the UE to perform CLI measurement; obtaining an indication of a repetition configuration, the repetition configuration indicating a number of nominal physical uplink shared channel (PUSCH) repetitions and a length of a nominal PUSCH repetition; and  sending a repetition of a transport block in each of a plurality of actual PUSCH repetitions based, in part, on the repetition configuration, wherein the repetitions of the transport block are encoded around the one or more CLI measurement resources, and wherein at least one of the plurality of actual PUSCH repetitions has a length less than the length indicated in the repetition configuration.

[0010] Another aspect provides a method for wireless communication at a UE. The method includes obtaining an indication of a number of available slots; and sending one or more signals in one or more available slots counted from a starting slot based on the number of available slots, wherein any slot from the starting slot that includes at least one symbol that is both for the UE to perform CLI measurement and for the UE to perform uplink transmission is not counted as an available slot.

[0011] Another aspect provides a method for wireless communication at a network entity. The method includes sending an indication of one or more CLI measurement resources, the one or more CLI measurement resources being resources for a UE to perform CLI measurement; sending an indication of a repetition configuration, the repetition configuration indicating a number of nominal PUSCH repetitions and a length of a nominal PUSCH repetition; and obtaining a repetition of a transport block in each of a plurality of actual PUSCH repetitions based, in part, on the repetition configuration, wherein the repetitions of the transport block are encoded around the one or more CLI measurement resources, and wherein at least one of the plurality of actual PUSCH repetitions has a length less than the length indicated in the repetition configuration.

[0012] Another aspect provides a method for wireless communication at a network entity. The method includes sending an indication of a number of available slots; and obtaining one or more signals in one or more available slots counted from a starting slot based on the number of available slots, wherein any slot from the starting slot that includes at least one symbol that is both for a UE to perform CLI measurement and for the UE to perform uplink transmission is not counted as an available slot.

[0013] Other aspects provide: an apparatus operable, configured, or otherwise adapted to perform any one or more of the aforementioned methods and / or those described elsewhere herein; a non-transitory, computer-readable media comprising instructions that, when executed by a processor of an apparatus, cause the apparatus to perform the aforementioned methods as well as those described elsewhere herein; a  computer program product embodied on a computer-readable storage medium comprising code for performing the aforementioned methods as well as those described elsewhere herein; and / or an apparatus comprising means for performing the aforementioned methods as well as those described elsewhere herein. By way of example, an apparatus may comprise a processing system, a device with a processing system, or processing systems cooperating over one or more networks.

[0032] Aspects of the present disclosure provide apparatuses, methods, processing systems, and computer-readable mediums for selecting resources for communicating based on CLI measurement resources.

[0033] CLI is interference caused by the transmissions of one UE being received at another UE that is not the intended recipient of the transmissions. A UE may be configured to use certain communication resources (e.g., symbols or other time-frequency resources) to perform CLI measurement. For example, a network entity (e.g., a base station (BS) ) may send an indication to the UE to use certain communication resources as CLI measurement resources. A CLI measurement resource may include one or more symbols used to perform an instance of CLI measurement. In some cases, the UE may also be configured to send other types of uplink communications on the same communication resources the UE is configured to perform CLI measurement. For example, the UE may be configured to send PUSCH repetitions, sounding reference signals (SRS) , demodulation reference signals (DMRS) , and / or the like, in the same communication resources the UE is configured to perform CLI measurement. For example, the network entity may configure the UE to use certain communication resources as CLI measurement resources semi-statically, such that the configuration is not changed often. Therefore, such CLI measurement resources may occasionally collide with other uplink communications. However, it may not be possible for the UE to both perform CLI measurement and send uplink communications in the same communication resources. For example, the additional interference received at the UE from due to its own uplink communications being received may cause CLI measurements to be inaccurate.

[0034] Accordingly, certain aspects herein provide techniques for the UE to use certain communication resources (e.g., symbols, slots, mini-slots, frames, or other time resources) for sending uplink communications that avoid CLI measurement resources. Advantageously, this allows the UE to send uplink communications without interfering with CLI measurements, thereby leading to a beneficial technical effect of more accurate CLI measurements.

[0035] In another example, certain aspects provide techniques for a UE to not count a slot (or mini-slot) as available for communication when any symbols of the slot are used for CLI measurement, or when any symbols of the slot allocated for uplink transmission (e.g., an uplink only symbol or a flexible symbol) are also allocated for CLI measurement. Accordingly, as another advantage, the UE advantageously shifts transmission of uplink transmissions to slots where symbols of the slot are not used for CLI measurement, thereby avoiding interference. Though certain aspects are discussed with respect to slots, it should be noted that the techniques described herein may be applicable to other suitable communication resources, such as mini-slots.

[0036] Introduction to Wireless Communications Networks

[0037] The techniques and methods described herein may be used for various wireless communications networks. While aspects may be described herein using terminology commonly associated with 3G, 4G, and / or 5G wireless technologies, aspects of the present disclosure may likewise be applicable to other communications systems and standards not explicitly mentioned herein.

[0038] FIG. 1 depicts an example of a wireless communications network 100, in which aspects described herein may be implemented.

[0039] Generally, wireless communications network 100 includes various network entities (alternatively, network elements or network nodes) . A network entity is generally a communications device and / or a communications function performed by a communications device (e.g., a user equipment (UE) , a base station (BS) , a component of a BS, a server, etc. ) . As such communications devices are part of wireless communications network 100, and facilitate wireless communications, such communications devices may be referred to as wireless communications devices. For example, various functions of a network as well as various devices associated with and interacting with a network may be considered network entities. Further, wireless communications network 100 includes terrestrial aspects, such as ground-based network  entities (e.g., BSs 102) , and non-terrestrial aspects, such as satellite 140 and aircraft 145, which may include network entities on-board (e.g., one or more BSs) capable of communicating with other network elements (e.g., terrestrial BSs) and UEs.

[0040] in the depicted example, wireless communications network 100 includes BSs 102, UEs 104, and one or more core networks, such as an Evolved Packet Core (EPC) 160 and 5G Core (5GC) network 190, which interoperate to provide communications services over various communications links, including wired and wireless links.

[0041] FIG. 1 depicts various example UEs 104, which may more generally include: a cellular phone, smart phone, session initiation protocol (SIP) phone, laptop, personal digital assistant (PDA) , satellite radio, global positioning system, multimedia device, video device, digital audio player, camera, game console, tablet, smart device, wearable device, vehicle, electric meter, gas pump, large or small kitchen appliance, healthcare device, implant, sensor / actuator, display, internet of things (IoT) devices, always on (AON) devices, edge processing devices, or other similar devices. UEs 104 may also be referred to more generally as a mobile device, a wireless device, a station, a mobile station, a subscriber station, a mobile subscriber station, a mobile unit, a subscriber unit, a wireless unit, a remote unit, a remote device, an access terminal, a mobile terminal, a wireless terminal, a remote terminal, a handset, and others.

[0042] BSs 102 wirelessly communicate with (e.g., transmit signals to or receive signals from) UEs 104 via communications links 120. The communications links 120 between BSs 102 and UEs 104 may include uplink (UL) (also referred to as reverse link) transmissions from a UE 104 to a BS 102 and / or downlink (DL) (also referred to as forward link) transmissions from a BS 102 to a UE 104. The communications links 120 may use multiple-input and multiple-output (MiMO) antenna technology, including spatial multiplexing, beamforming, and / or transmit diversity in various aspects.

[0043] BSs 102 may generally include: a NodeB, enhanced NodeB (eNB) , next generation enhanced NodeB (ng-eNB) , next generation NodeB (gNB or gNodeB) , access point, base transceiver station, radio base station, radio transceiver, transceiver function, transmission reception point, and / or others. Each of BSs 102 may provide communications coverage for a respective coverage area 110, which may sometimes be referred to as a cell, and which may overlap in some cases (e.g., small cell 102’ may have a coverage area 110’ that overlaps the coverage area 110 of a macro cell) . A BS may, for  example, provide communications coverage for a macro cell (covering relatively large geographic area) , a pico cell (covering relatively smaller geographic area, such as a sports stadium) , a femto cell (relatively smaller geographic area (e.g., a home) ) , and / or other types of cells.

[0044] While BSs 102 are depicted in various aspects as unitary communications devices, BSs 102 may be implemented in various configurations. For example, one or more components of a base station may be disaggregated, including a central unit (CU) , one or more distributed units (DUs) , one or more radio units (RUs) , a Near-Real Time (Near-RT) RAN Intelligent Controller (RIC) , or a Non-Real Time (Non-RT) RIC, to name a few examples. In another example, various aspects of a base station may be virtualized. More generally, a base station (e.g., BS 102) may include components that are located at a single physical location or components located at various physical locations. In examples in which a base station includes components that are located at various physical locations, the various components may each perform functions such that, collectively, the various components achieve functionality that is similar to a base station that is located at a single physical location. In some aspects, a base station including components that are located at various physical locations may be referred to as a disaggregated radio access network architecture, such as an Open RAN (O-RAN) or Virtualized RAN (VRAN) architecture. FIG. 2 depicts and describes an example disaggregated base station architecture.

[0045] Different BSs 102 within wireless communications network 100 may also be configured to support different radio access technologies, such as 3G, 4G, and / or 5G. For example, BSs 102 configured for 4G LTE (collectively referred to as Evolved Universal Mobile Telecommunications System (UMTS) Terrestrial Radio Access Network (E-UTRAN) ) may interface with the EPC 160 through first backhaul links 132 (e.g., an S1 interface) . BSs 102 configured for 5G (e.g., 5G NR or Next Generation RAN (NG-RAN) ) may interface with 5GC 190 through second backhaul links 184. BSs 102 may communicate directly or indirectly (e.g., through the EPC 160 or 5GC 190) with each other over third backhaul links 134 (e.g., X2 interface) , which may be wired or wireless.

[0046] Wireless communications network 100 may subdivide the electromagnetic spectrum into various classes, bands, channels, or other features. In some aspects, the subdivision is provided based on wavelength and frequency, where frequency may also be referred to as a carrier, a subcarrier, a frequency channel, a tone, or a subband. For  example, 3 GPP currently defines Frequency Range 1 (FRi) as including 410 MHz -7125 MHz, which is often referred to (interchangeably) as “Sub-6 GHz” . Similarly, 3GPP currently defines Frequency Range 2 (FR2) as including 24, 250 MHz -52, 600 MHz, which is sometimes referred to (interchangeably) as a “millimeter wave” ( “mmW” or “mmWave” ) . A base station configured to communicate using mmWave / near mmWave radio frequency bands (e.g., a mmWave base station such as BS 180) may utilize beamforming (e.g., 182) with a UE (e.g., 104) to improve path loss and range.

[0047] The communications links 120 between BSs 102 and, for example, UEs 104, may be through one or more carriers, which may have different bandwidths (e.g., 5, 10, 15, 20, 100, 400, and / or other MHz) , and which may be aggregated in various aspects. Carriers may or may not be adjacent to each other. Allocation of carriers may be asymmetric with respect to DL and UL (e.g., more or fewer carriers may be allocated for DL than for UL) .

[0048] Communications using higher frequency bands may have higher path loss and a shorter range compared to lower frequency communications. Accordingly, certain base stations (e.g., 180 in FIG. 1) may utilize beamforming 182 with a UE 104 to improve path loss and range. For example, BS 180 and the UE 104 may each include a plurality of antennas, such as antenna elements, antenna panels, and / or antenna arrays to facilitate the beamforming. In some cases, BS 180 may transmit a beamformed signal to UE 104 in one or more transmit directions 182’. UE 104 may receive the beamformed signal from the BS 180 in one or more receive directions 182”. UE 104 may also transmit a beamformed signal to the BS 180 in one or more transmit directions 182”. BS 180 may also receive the beamformed signal from UE 104 in one or more receive directions 182’. BS 180 and UE 104 may then perform beam training to determine the best receive and transmit directions for each of BS 180 and UE 104. Notably, the transmit and receive directions for BS 180 may or may not be the same. Similarly, the transmit and receive directions for UE 104 may or may not be the same.

[0049] Wireless communications network 100 further includes a Wi-Fi AP 150 in communication with Wi-Fi stations (STAs) 152 via communications links 154 in, for example, a 2.4 GHz and / or 5 GHz unlicensed frequency spectrum.

[0050] Certain UEs 104 may communicate with each other using device-to-device (D2D) communications link 158. D2D communications link 158 may use one or more  sidelink channels, such as a physical sidelink broadcast channel (PSBCH) , a physical sidelink discovery channel (PSDCH) , a physical sidelink shared channel (PSSCH) , a physical sidelink control channel (PSCCH) , and / or a physical sidelink feedback channel (PSFCH) .

[0051] EPC 160 may include various functional components, including: a Mobility Management Entity (MME) 162, other MMEs 164, a Serving Gateway 166, a Multimedia Broadcast Multicast Service (MBMS) Gateway 168, a Broadcast Multicast Service Center (BM-SC) 170, and / or a Packet Data Network (PDN) Gateway 172, such as in the depicted example. MME 162 may be in communication with a Home Subscriber Server (HSS) 174. MME 162 is the control node that processes the signaling between the UEs 104 and the EPC 160. Generally, MME 162 provides bearer and connection management.

[0052] Generally, user Internet protocol (IP) packets are transferred through Serving Gateway 166, which itself is connected to PDN Gateway 172. PDN Gateway 172 provides UE IP address allocation as well as other functions. PDN Gateway 172 and the BM-SC 170 are connected to IP Services 176, which may include, for example, the Internet, an intranet, an IP Multimedia Subsystem (IMS) , a Packet Switched (PS) streaming service, and / or other IP services.

[0053] BM-SC 170 may provide functions for MBMS user service provisioning and delivery. BM-SC 170 may serve as an entry point for content provider MBMS transmission, may be used to authorize and initiate MBMS Bearer Services within a public land mobile network (PLMN) , and / or may be used to schedule MBMS transmissions. MBMS Gateway 168 may be used to distribute MBMS traffic to the BSs 102 belonging to a Multicast Broadcast Single Frequency Network (MBSFN) area broadcasting a particular service, and / or may be responsible for session management (start / stop) and for collecting eMBMS related charging information.

[0054] 5GC 190 may include various functional components, including: an Access and Mobility Management Function (AMF) 192, other AMFs 193, a Session Management Function (SMF) 194, and a User Plane Function (UPF) 195. AMF 192 may be in communication with Unified Data Management (UDM) 196.

[0055] AMF 192 is a control node that processes signaling between UEs 104 and 5GC 190. AMF 192 provides, for example, quality of service (QoS) flow and session management.

[0056] Internet protocol (IP) packets are transferred through UPF 195, which is connected to the IP Services 197, and which provides UE IP address allocation as well as other functions for 5GC 190. IP Services 197 may include, for example, the Internet, an intranet, an IMS, a PS streaming service, and / or other IP services.

[0057] In various aspects, a network entity or network node can be implemented as an aggregated base station, as a disaggregated base station, a component of a base station, an integrated access and backhaul (IAB) node, a relay node, a sidelink node, to name a few examples.

[0058] FIG. 2 depicts an example disaggregated base station 200 architecture. The disaggregated base station 200 architecture may include one or more central units (CUs) 210 that can communicate directly with a core network 220 via a backhaul link, or indirectly with the core network 220 through one or more disaggregated base station units (such as a Near-Real Time (Near-RT) RAN Intelligent Controller (RIC) 225 via an E2 link, or a Non-Real Time (Non-RT) RIC 215 associated with a Service Management and Orchestration (SMO) Framework 205, or both) . A CU 210 may communicate with one or more distributed units (DUs) 230 via respective midhaul links, such as an F 1 interface. The DUs 230 may communicate with one or more radio units (RUs) 240 via respective fronthaul links. The RUs 240 may communicate with respective UEs 104 via one or more radio frequency (RF) access links. In some implementations, the UE 104 may be simultaneously served by multiple RUs 240.

[0059] Each of the units, e.g., the CUs 210, the DUs 230, the RUs 240, as well as the Near-RT RICs 225, the Non-RT RICs 215 and the SMO Framework 205, may include one or more interfaces or be coupled to one or more interfaces configured to receive or transmit signals, data, or information (collectively, signals) via a wired or wireless transmission medium. Each of the units, or an associated processor or controller providing instructions to the communications interfaces of the units, can be configured to communicate with one or more of the other units via the transmission medium. For example, the units can include a wired interface configured to receive or transmit signals over a wired transmission medium to one or more of the other units. Additionally or alternatively, the units can include a wireless interface, which may include a receiver, a transmitter or transceiver (such as a radio frequency (RF) transceiver) , configured to receive or transmit signals, or both, over a wireless transmission medium to one or more of the other units.

[0060] In some aspects, the CU 210 may host one or more higher layer control functions. Such control functions can include radio resource control (RRC) , packet data convergence protocol (PDCP) , service data adaptation protocol (SDAP) , or the like. Each control function can be implemented with an interface configured to communicate signals with other control functions hosted by the CU 210. The CU 210 may be configured to handle user plane functionality (e.g., Central Unit -User Plane (CU-UP) ) , control plane functionality (e.g., Central Unit -Control Plane (CU-CP) ) , or a combination thereof. In some implementations, the CU 210 can be logically split into one or more CU-UP units and one or more CU-CP units. The CU-UP unit can communicate bidirectionally with the CU-CP unit via an interface, such as the E1 interface when implemented in an O-RAN configuration. The CU 210 can be implemented to communicate with the DU 230, as necessary, for network control and signaling.

[0061] The DU 230 may correspond to a logical unit that includes one or more base station functions to control the operation of one or more RUs 240. In some aspects, the DU 230 may host one or more of a radio link control (RLC) layer, a medium access control (MAC) layer, and one or more high physical (PHY) layers (such as modules for forward error correction (FEC) encoding and decoding, scrambling, modulation and demodulation, or the like) depending, at least in part, on a functional split, such as those defined by the 3rd Generation Partnership Project (3GPP) . In some aspects, the DU 230 may further host one or more low PHY layers. Each layer (or module) can be implemented with an interface configured to communicate signals with other layers (and modules) hosted by the DU 230, or with the control functions hosted by the CU 210.

[0062] Lower-layer functionality can be implemented by one or more RUs 240. In some deployments, an RU 240, controlled by a DU 230, may correspond to a logical node that hosts RF processing functions, or low-PHY layer functions (such as performing fast Fourier transform (FFT) , inverse FFT (iFFT) , digital beamforming, physical random access channel (PRACH) extraction and filtering, or the like) , or both, based at least in part on the functional split, such as a lower layer functional split. In such an architecture, the RU (s) 240 can be implemented to handle over the air (OTA) communications with one or more UEs 104. In some implementations, real-time and non-real-time aspects of control and user plane communications with the RU (s) 240 can be controlled by the corresponding DU 230. In some scenarios, this configuration can enable the DU (s) 230  and the CU 210 to be implemented in a cloud-based RAN architecture, such as a vRAN architecture.

[0063] The SMO Framework 205 may be configured to support RAN deployment and provisioning ofnon-virtualized and virtualized network elements. For non-virtualized network elements, the SMO Framework 205 may be configured to support the deployment of dedicated physical resources for RAN coverage requirements which may be managed via an operations and maintenance interface (such as an O1 interface) . For virtualized network elements, the SMO Framework 205 may be configured to interact with a cloud computing platform (such as an open cloud (O-Cloud) 290) to perform network element life cycle management (such as to instantiate virtualized network elements) via a cloud computing platform interface (such as an 02 interface) . Such virtualized network elements can include, but are not limited to, CUs 210, DUs 230, RUs 240 and Near-RT RICs 225. In some implementations, the SMO Framework 205 can communicate with a hardware aspect of a 4G RAN, such as an open eNB (O-eNB) 211, via an O1 interface. Additionally, in some implementations, the SMO Framework 205 can communicate directly with one or more RUs 240 via an O1 interface. The SMO Framework 205 also may include a Non-RT RIC 215 configured to support functionality of the SMO Framework 205.

[0064] The Non-RT RIC 215 may be configured to include a logical function that enables non-real-time control and optimization of RAN elements and resources, Artificial Intelligence / Machine Learning (AI / ML) workflows including model training and updates, or policy-based guidance of applications / features in the Near-RT RIC 225. The Non-RT RIC 215 may be coupled to or communicate with (such as via an A1 interface) the Near-RT RIC 225. The Near-RT RIC 225 may be configured to include a logical function that enables near-real-time control and optimization of RAN elements and resources via data collection and actions over an interface (such as via an E2 interface) connecting one or more CUs 210, one or more DUs 230, or both, as well as an O-eNB, with the Near-RT RIC 225.

[0065] In some implementations, to generate AI / ML models to be deployed in the Near-RT RIC 225, the Non-RT RIC 215 may receive parameters or external enrichment information from external servers. Such information may be utilized by the Near-RT RIC 225 and may be received at the SMO Framework 205 or the Non-RT RIC 215 from non-network data sources or from network functions. In some examples, the Non-RT RIC 215  or the Near-RT RIC 225 may be configured to tune RAN behavior or performance. For example, the Non-RT RIC 215 may monitor long-term trends and patterns for performance and employ AI / ML models to perform corrective actions through the SMO Framework 205 (such as reconfiguration via O1) or via creation of RAN management policies (such as A1 policies) .

[0079] In various aspects, UE 104 may likewise be described as transmitting and receiving various types of data associated with the methods described herein, In these contexts, “transmitting” may refer to various mechanisms of outputting data, such as outputting data from data source 362, memory 382, transmit processor 364, controller / processor 380, TX MIMO processor 366, transceivers 354a-t, antenna 352a-t, and / or other aspects described herein. Similarly, “receiving” may refer to various mechanisms of obtaining data, such as obtaining data from antennas 352a-t, transceivers 354a-t, RX MIMO detector 356, controller / processor 380, receive processor 358, memory 382, and / or other aspects described herein.

[0080] In some aspects, a processor may be configured to perform various operations, such as those associated with the methods described herein, and transmit (output) to or receive (obtain) data from another interface that is configured to transmit or receive, respectively, the data.

[0081] FIGS. 4A, 4B, 4C, and 4D depict aspects of data structures for a wireless communications network, such as wireless communications network 100 of FIG. 1.

[0082] In particular, FIG. 4A is a diagram 400 illustrating an example of a first subframe within a 5G (e.g., 5G NR) frame structure, FIG. 4B is a diagram 430 illustrating an example of DL channels within a 5G subframe, FIG. 4C is a diagram 450 illustrating an example of a second subframe within a 5G frame structure, and FIG. 4D is a diagram 480 illustrating an example of UL channels within a 5G subframe.

[0083] Wireless communications systems may utilize orthogonal frequency division multiplexing (OFDM) with a cyclic prefix (CP) on the uplink and downlink. Such systems may also support half-duplex operation using time division duplexing (TDD) . OFDM and single-carrier frequency division multiplexing (SC-FDM) partition the system bandwidth (e.g., as depicted in FIGS. 4B and 4D) into multiple orthogonal subcarriers. Each subcarrier may be modulated with data. Modulation symbols may be sent in the frequency domain with OFDM and / or in the time domain with SC-FDM.

[0084] A wireless communications frame structure may be frequency division duplex (FDD) , in which, for a particular set ofsubcarriers, subframes within the set ofsubcarriers are dedicated for either DL or UL. Wireless communications frame structures may also be time division duplex (TDD) , in which, for a particular set of subcarriers, subframes within the set of subcarriers are dedicated for both DL and UL.

[0085] In FIG. 4A and 4C, the wireless communications frame structure is TDD where D is DL, U is UL, and X is flexible for use between DL / UL. UEs may be configured with a slot format through a received slot format indicator (SFI) (dynamically through DL control information (DCI) , or semi-statically / statically through radio resource control (RRC) signaling) . In the depicted examples, a 10 ms frame is divided into 10 equally sized 1 ms subframes. Each subframe may include one or more time slots. In some examples, each slot may include 7 or 14 symbols, depending on the slot format. Subframes may also include mini-slots, which generally have fewer symbols than an entire slot. Other wireless communications technologies may have a different frame structure and / or different channels.

[0086] In certain aspects, the number of slots within a subframe is based on a slot configuration and a numerology. For example, for slot configuration 0, different numerologies (μ) 0 to 5 allow for 1, 2, 4, 8, 16, and 32 slots, respectively, per subframe. For slot configuration 1, different numerologies 0 to 2 allow for 2, 4, and 8 slots, respectively, per subframe. Accordingly, for slot configuration 0 and numerology μ, there  are 14 symbols / slot and 2μ slots / subframe. The subcarrier spacing and symbol length / duration are a function of the numerology. The subcarrier spacing may be equal to 2μ × 15 kHz, where μ is the numerology 0 to 5. As such, the numerology μ = 0 has a subcarrier spacing of 15 kHz and the numerology μ = 5 has a subcarrier spacing of 480 kHz. The symbol length / duration is inversely related to the subcarrier spacing. FIGS. 4A, 4B, 4C, and 4D provide an example of slot configuration 0 with 14 symbols per slot and numerology μ = 2 with 4 slots per subframe. The slot duration is 0.25 ms, the subcarrier spacing is 60 kHz, and the symbol duration is approximately 16.67 μs.

[0087] As depicted in FIGS. 4A, 4B, 4C, and 4D, a resource grid may be used to represent the frame structure. Each time slot includes a resource block (RB) (also referred to as physical RBs (PRBs) ) that extends, for example, 12 consecutive subcarriers. The resource grid is divided into multiple resource elements (REs) . The number of bits carried by each RE depends on the modulation scheme.

[0088] As illustrated in FIG. 4A, some of the REs carry reference (pilot) signals (RS) for a UE (e.g., UE 104 of FIGS. 1 and 3) . The RS may include demodulation RS (DMRS) and / or channel state information reference signals (CSI-RS) for channel estimation at the UE.The RS may also include beam measurement RS (BRS) , beam refinement RS (BRRS) , and / or phase tracking RS (PT-RS) .

[0089] FIG. 4B illustrates an example of various DL channels within a subframe of a frame. The physical downlink control channel (PDCCH) carries DCI within one or more control channel elements (CCEs) , each CCE including, for example, nine RE groups (REGs) , each REG including, for example, four consecutive REs in an OFDM symbol.

[0090] A primary synchronization signal (PSS) may be within symbol 2 of particular subframes of a frame. The PSS is used by a UE (e.g., 104 of FIGS. 1 and 3) to determine subframe / symbol timing and a physical layer identity.

[0091] A secondary synchronization signal (SSS) may be within symbol 4 of particular subframes of a frame. The SSS is used by a UE to determine a physical layer cell identity group number and radio frame timing.

[0092] Based on the physical layer identity and the physical layer cell identity group number, the UE can determine a physical cell identifier (PCI) . Based on the PCI, the UE can determine the locations of the aforementioned DMRS. The physical broadcast channel (PBCH) , which carries a master information block (MIB) , may be logically  grouped with the PSS and SSS to form a synchronization signal (SS)  / PBCH block. The MIB provides a number of RBs in the system bandwidth and a system frame number (SFN) . The physical downlink shared channel (PDSCH) carries user data, broadcast system information not transmitted through the PBCH such as system information blocks (SIBs) , and / or paging messages.

[0093] As illustrated in FIG. 4C, some of the REs carry DMRS (indicated as R for one particular configuration, but other DMRS configurations are possible) for channel estimation at the base station. The UE may transmit DMRS for the PUCCH and DMRS for the PUSCH. The PUSCH DMRS may be transmitted, for example, in the first one or two symbols of the PUSCH. The PUCCH DMRS may be transmitted in different configurations depending on whether short or long PUCCHs are transmitted and depending on the particular PUCCH format used. UE 104 may transmit sounding reference signals (SRS) . The SRS may be transmitted, for example, in the last symbol of a subframe. The SRS may have a comb structure, and a UE may transmit SRS on one of the combs. The SRS may be used by a base station for channel quality estimation to enable frequency-dependent scheduling on the UL.

[0094] FIG. 4D illustrates an example of various UL channels within a subframe of a frame. The PUCCH may be located as indicated in one configuration. The PUCCH carries uplink control information (UCI) , such as scheduling requests, a channel quality indicator (CQI) , a precoding matrix indicator (PMI) , a rank indicator (RI) , and HARQ ACK / NACK feedback. The PUSCH carries data, and may additionally be used to carry a buffer status report (BSR) , a power headroom report (PHR) , and / or UCI.

[0095] Aspects Related to Cross-Link Interference (CLI)

[0096] CLI, also referred to as inter-UE interference, refers to interference measured at a first UE based on transmissions by another UE that are not intended for the first UE.

[0097] FIG. 5A depicts an example of inter-cell CLI. In particular, FIG. 5A depicts a first UE 504a in communication with a BS 502a in a cell 510a and a second UE 504b in communication with a network entity, such as BS 502b in a cell 510b. Reference to a UE 504 herein may refer individually to any of UE 504a or 504b. Reference to a BS 502 herein may refer individually to any of BS 502a or 502b. Further, though certain aspects are discussed with respect to a BS, it should be noted that other suitable network entities may perform the operations discussed with respect to BS 502. Each of the UEs 504 may  be an example of a UE 104, depicted and described with respect to FIG. 1 and 3. Each of the BSs 502 may be an example of the BS 102 depicted and described with respect to FIG. 1 and 3 or a disaggregated base station depicted and described with respect to FIG. 2. Each of the cells 510 may be an example of the cell 110 depicted and described with respect to FIG. 1.

[0098] As shown, signals transmitted by first UE 504a to BS 502a in cell 510a are received at second UE 504b in cell 510b. Such signals transmitted by first UE 504a may interfere with signals transmitted by BS 502b to second UE 504b, thereby causing inter-cell CLI at second UE 504b. In such a scenario, UE 504a may be referred to as the aggressor UE as it causes the interference, while UE 504b may be referred to as the victim UE as it experiences the interference.

[0099] For example, UE 504a may be configured to communicate in a first slot according to a first slot format, and UE 504b may be configured to communicate in the first slot according to a second slot format. A slot format indicates how each symbol within a slot (e.g., in periodically occurring slots) is used, as in whether the symbol is used for uplink communications (U) , downlink communications (D) , or flexible (X) (e.g., can be used for uplink or downlink communications) . In some cases, the first slot format may indicate for UE 504a to perform uplink communications in a given symbol of the first slot, while the second slot format may indicate for UE 504b to perform downlink communications in the given symbol of the first slot. Accordingly, the uplink communications in the given symbol of the first slot by UE 504a may interfere with the downlink communications received by UE 504b in the given symbol of the first slot.

[0100] FIG. 5B depicts an example of intra-cell CLI. As shown, signals transmitted by first UE 504a to BS 502a in cell 510a are received at second UE 504b in cell 510a. Such signals transmitted by first UE 504a may interfere with signals transmitted by BS 502a to second UE 504b, thereby causing intra-cell CLI at second UE 504b. The cause of the interference, as discussed, may be due to UE 504a and UE 504b being configured to communicate in the same slot according to different slot formats, and in particular where UE 504a is configured to transmit while UE 504b is simultaneously configured to receive.

[0101] In certain aspects, a UE 504b is configured to perform different types of CLI measurements. One example type of CLI measurement is to measure CLI caused by  sounding reference signal transmission. For example, CLI at UE 504b may be caused by transmission of SRS by UE 504a to BS 502a. UE 504b may measure, for example, a reference signal received power (RSRP) of the SRS transmission as received at UE 504b, as a measure of CLI. Another type of CLI measurement is to measure CLI caused by any uplink transmission (e.g., PUCCH, PUSCH, SRS, etc. ) . For example, CLI at UE 504b may be caused by transmission of an uplink transmission by UE 504a to BS 502a. UE 504b may measure a received signal strength indicator (RSSI) of the uplink transmission as received at UE 504b, as a measure of CLI. In certain aspects, there is no dedicated transmission for an aggressor UE to transmit for a victim UE to measure CLI.

[0102] In certain aspects, a UE 504 is configured to use one or more communication resources (e.g., symbols) for performing CLI measurements (e.g., one or more types of CLI measurements) . Each set of one or more communication resources used to perform CLI measurement may be referred to as CLI measurement resource. For example, a BS 502 may send signaling to a UE 504 indicating one or more CLI measurement resources. In certain aspects, the BS 502 sends the indication of the one or more CLI measurement resources in RRC signaling to the UE 504. In certain aspects, the indication of the one or more CLI measurement resources indicates one or more symbols in one or more slots for UE 504 to measure CLI. In certain aspects, the indication of the one or more CLI measurement resources indicates which symbols of a slot to use to measure CLI, and a periodicity of which slots to measure CLI (e.g., every 2 slots, every 3 slots, etc. ) .

[0103] In certain aspects, CLI measurement has a higher priority than uplink and / or downlink communication between a UE 504 and a BS 502. For example, in certain aspects, a UE 504 is not expected to transmit uplink communications (e.g., PUCCH, PUSCH, SRS, etc. ) on symbols on which the UE performs (or is configured to perform) CLI measurements, as in symbols of CLI measurement resources. In certain aspects, UE 504 is further not expected to transmit uplink communications on 1 symbol before a symbol (e.g., starting symbol) of a CLI measurement resource, such as when the UE 504 is communicating using 15 kHz or 30 kHz subcarrier spacing on FR1. In certain aspects, UE 504 is further not expected to transmit uplink communications on 2 symbols before a symbol of a CLI measurement resource, such as when the UE 504 is communicating using 60 kHz subcarrier spacing on FR1. In certain aspects, UE 504 is further not expected to transmit uplink communications on 1 symbol before a symbol that ofa CLI measurement resource, such as when the UE 504 is communicating using 60 kHz subcarrier spacing on  FR2. In certain aspects, UE 504 is further not expected to transmit uplink communications on 2 symbols before a symbol of a CLI measurement resource, such as when the UE 504 is communicating using 120 kHz subcarrier spacing on FR2. In certain aspects, the number of symbols UE 504 is not expected to transmit uplink communications before a symbol (e.g., starting symbol) of a CLI measurement resource is a function of subcarrier spacing and communication frequency. Such symbols may further avoid interference that may be caused by the timing difference between the CLI measurement resource and the UL communication of the UE 504.

[0104] In certain aspects described herein, a UE may be configured to avoid transmitting PUSCH repetitions on CLI measurement resources. Further, as above, the UE may be configured to avoid transmitting PUSCH repetitions for a set number of symbols (e.g., 1 or 2 symbols) before a CLI measurement resource. In such cases, the set number of symbols preceding a CLI measurement resource (also referred to as back-off symbols) may be treated like a CLI measurement resource. In certain aspects, a UE may be configured to not count a slot as available for communication when any symbols of the slot are used for CLI measurement, or when any symbols of the slot allocated for uplink transmission (e.g., an uplink only symbol or a flexible symbol) are used for CLI measurement. Similarly, a UE may be configured to not count a slot as available for communication when a set number of symbols (e.g., 1 or 2 symbols) before a CLI measurement resource is in the slot or allocated for uplink transmission (e.g., an uplink only symbol or a flexible symbol) .

[0105] Aspects Related to PUSCH repetition

[0106] In certain aspects, a UE, such as UE 504, is configured to perform PUSCH repetition. In particular, the UE 504 is configured to transmit repetitions of a transport block in PUSCH repetitions, such as to a network entity, such as BS 502. The UE 504 may be configured to perform PUSCH repetition for a PUSCH transmission scheduled either by dynamic grant (DG) or configured grant (CG) in DCI. Each PUSCH repetition may span one or more symbols. There may be different types of PUSCH repetition, such as Type A and Type B.

[0107] In PUSCH repetition Type A, one PUSCH repetition occurs per slot, and the PUSCH repetitions occur in consecutive slots. In particular, the configuration parameters for PUSCH repetition Type A include K, L, and S. K is a number of nominal repetitions  of PUSCH. L is the nominal length in number of symbols of each nominal repetition of PUSCH. S is the starting symbol within a slot for each nominal repetition of PUSCH. As discussed further herein, a repetition may be referred to as a “nominal” repetition because PUSCH may not actually be transmitted in such a nominal repetition. In certain aspects, S and L are given by a parameter referred to as a starting length and indicator vector (SLIV) . A SLIV may be indicated by a row index in a time domain resource allocation (TDRA) signaled in DCI for a scheduled PUSCH. In certain aspects, K is also signaled in the DCI. For example, BS 502 may send a DCI indicating the configuration parameters for PUSCH repetition Type A to UE 5 04.

[0108] FIG. 6A illustrates an example of PUSCH repetition Type A. FIG. 6A illustrates a timeline 600a that increases in time from left to right. In the example, K = 2, L = 4, and S = 10. As shown, DCI 602a scheduling PUSCH transmission is transmitted by a network entity, such as BS 502, and received by a UE, such as UE 504, in symbol 3 of slot n. DCI 602a may indicate the configuration parameters K, L, and S. Accordingly, based on K = 2, there are 2 nominal repetitions of PUSCH, also referred to as nominal PUSCH repetitions. The 2 nominal repetitions of PUSCH occur in slot n, the slot in which DCI 602a is received, and slot n+1 which is the next consecutive slot to slot n. In particular, nominal repetition 604a occurs in slot n and nominal repetition 604b occurs in slot n+1. Further, each of the nominal repetitions 604 of PUSCH start at symbol 10 of respective slots n and n+1. The length of each of the nominal repetitions of PUSCH is 4 symbols as shown.

[0109] In PUSCH repetition Type B, PUSCH repetitions occur in consecutive symbols. In particular, the configuration parameters for PUSCH repetition Type B also include K, L, and S. K is the number of nominal repetitions ofPUSCH. L is the nominal length in number of symbols of each nominal repetition of PUSCH. S is the starting symbol within a slot for the first nominal repetition of PUSCH. Further, all the nominal repetitions of PUSCH are in consecutive symbols starting from the symbol S. In certain aspects, the configuration parameters for PUSCH repetition Type B may be signaled from a network entity to a UE in the same manner as the configuration parameters for PUSCH repetition Type A.

[0110] FIG. 6B illustrates an example of PUSCH repetition Type B. FIG. 6B illustrates a timeline 600b that increases in time from left to right. In the example, K = 2, L = 4, and S = 10. As shown, DCI 602b scheduling PUSCH transmission is transmitted  by a network entity, such as BS 502, and received by a UE, such as UE 504, in symbol 3 of slot n. DCI 602b may indicate the configuration parameters K, L, and S. Accordingly, based on K = 2, there are 2 nominal repetitions of PUSCH. The 2 nominal repetitions of PUSCH occur in consecutive symbols, starting in slot n, the slot in which DCI 602b is received. In particular, first nominal repetition 604c starts at symbol 10 of slot n with a length of four symbols, meaning nominal repetition 604c ends at symbol 13 of slot n. Further, second nominal repetition 604d starts at the next consecutive symbol after nominal repetition 604c ends, in this case symbol 0 of slot n+l, and ends at symbol 3 of slot n+1. Though in the example nominal repetitions 604c and 604d are completely in separate slots, it should be noted that in other examples nominal repetitions may be completely or partially in the same slot.

[0111] The K nominal repetitions of PUSCH may be referred to as “nominal” because PUSCH may not actually be transmitted by the UE in each occurrence of a nominal repetition of PUSCH, or the nominal repetition may be divided, also referred to as fragmented, into a plurality of PUSCH repetitions that are transmitted. Accordingly, the nominal repetitions of PUSCH may be considered “intended” repetitions of PUSCH. Each PUSCH repetition that is transmitted by the UE may be referred to as an actual repetition or actual PUSCH repetition due to such repetition actually being transmitted. For example, a nominal PUSCH repetition may be indicated or scheduled based on base station signaling or other configuration techniques (e.g., an implicit grant or contention-based signaling) but may or may not be transmitted by the UE, for example, because the UE is configured to perform other communications in symbols that overlap with the nominal PUSCH repetition, as further discussed herein. In another example, a nominal PUSCH repetition may be fragmented into multiple PUSCH repetitions transmitted by the UE where the UE is configured to perform other communications in symbols of the nominal PUSCH repetition that fragment the symbols of the nominal PUSCH repetition into different sets of consecutive symbols, as further discussed herein.

[0112] The nominal length L of a nominal PUSCH repetition is referred to as “nominal” because PUSCH may be actually transmitted in a different number of (e.g., fewer) symbols. For example, a UE may be configured to perform other communications in one or more symbols of a nominal PUSCH repetition. In some cases, the UE still transmits the actual PUSCH repetition in one or more other symbols of the nominal  PUSCH repetition that are not the one or more symbols of the nominal PUSCH repetition where the UE is configured to perform other communications, as further discussed herein.

[0113] Aspects Related to CLI Measurement for PUSCH repetition Type B

[0114] As discussed, in certain aspects, a UE, such as UE 504, is configured to perform PUSCH repetition Type B. Further, as discussed, in certain aspects, the UE is further configured to perform CLI measurement on one or more CLI measurement resources. In some cases, some of the one or more CLI measurement resources may overlap or conflict with one or more resources of one or more nominal PUSCH repetitions. Accordingly, in certain aspects, the UE is configured to fragment a nominal PUSCH repetition around any CLI measurement resources, as further discussed herein.

[0115] FIG. 7A illustrates an example of PUSCH repetition Type B according to a timeline 700a that increases in time from left to right. In the example, K = 3, L = 4, and S = 10. Accordingly, three consecutive nominal repetitions of PUSCH 704a-704c are illustrated, starting at symbol 10 of slot n. Further, as shown, each of symbol 13 of slot n and symbols 2-5 of slot n+1 is configured as a symbol of a CLI measurement resource 708. Therefore, symbol 13 of slot n, and symbols 2-5 of slot n+1 are both CLI measurement resources 708 and resources for nominal repetitions of PUSCH 704a-704c. Thus, there is a conflict (e.g., overlap) between the scheduling or location for CLI measurement resources 708 and nominal repetitions of PUSCH 704a-704c, which poses a technical problem. Accordingly, as a technical solution, a UE, such as UE 504, is configured to fragment the nominal repetitions of PUSCH 704a-704c around the CLI measurement resources 708.

[0116] In certain aspects, fragmenting a nominal repetition of PUSCH refers to not using one or more symbols of the nominal repetition for PUSCH. Any remaining symbols of a given nominal repetition may form one or more sets of consecutive symbols, where each set of consecutive symbols includes one or more symbols. Each of the one or more sets of consecutive symbols may be used for transmitting an actual repetition of PUSCH, such as to a network entity, such as BS. In certain aspects, a set of consecutive symbols with a single symbol is not used for transmitting an actual repetition of PUSCH if L is larger than 1.

[0117] For example, nominal repetitions of PUSCH 704a-704c are fragmented into actual repetitions of PUSCH 706a-706c, which may be transmitted by a UE, such as UE  504, to a network entity, such as BS 502. In particular, nominal repetition of PUSCH 704a includes a CLI measurement resource 708 at symbol 13 of slot n. The remaining symbols (symbols 10-12 of slot n) of nominal repetition of PUSCH 704a form a set of consecutive symbols that are used to transmit actual repetition of PUSCH 706a. Nominal repetition of PUSCH 704b includes part of a CLI measurement resource 708 at symbols 2 and 3 of slot n+1. The remaining symbols (symbols 0-1 of slot n+1) of nominal repetition of PUSCH 704b form a set of consecutive symbols that are used to transmit actual repetition of PUSCH 706b. Nominal repetition of PUSCH 704c includes part of a CLI measurement resource 708 at symbols 4 and 5 of slot n+1. The remaining symbols (symbols 6-7 of slot n+ 1) of nominal repetition of PUS CH 704c form a set of consecutive symbols that are used to transmit actual repetition of PUSCH 706c. In the example of FIG. 7A, the number of nominal repetitions of PUSCH 704a-c equals the number of actual repetitions of PUSCH 706a-c, however, this may not always be the case.

[0118] As shown in FIG. 7A, the actual repetitions of PUSCH 706a-c have an actual length (i.e., actual number of symbols) that may be different than the nominal length L of the nominal repetitions of PUSCH 704a-c. Each actual repetition of PUSCH 706a-c, in certain aspects, includes the same transport block, such that transmission of the multiple actual repetitions of PUSCH 706a-c corresponds to multiple repeated transmissions of the transport block.

[0119] In certain aspects, in order to encode the transport block on actual repetitions of PUSCH having different actual lengths, the coding rate used to encode the transport block on an actual repetition of PUSCH may be based on the actual length of the actual repetition of PUSCH, which may also be referred to as rate matching. For example, an actual repetition of PUSCH with more symbols, such as actual repetition of PUSCH 706a, a UE may use a lower coding rate for encoding the transport block on the symbols of the actual repetition, as compared to the coding rate used by the UE for encoding the transport block on the symbols of an actual repetition of PUSCH with fewer symbols, such as actual repetition of PUSCH 706b. In other words, in some aspects, more symbols may lead to a lower coding rate and fewer symbols may lead to a higher coding rate. Accordingly, as the nominal repetitions of PUSCH are fragmented around the CLI measurement resources into actual repetitions of PUSCH, and a repetition of the transport block is encoded in each of the actual repetitions of PUSCH, the repetitions of the transport block are, in effect, encoded around the CLI measurement resources.

[0120] FIG. 7B illustrates an example of PUSCH repetition Type B according to a timeline 700b that increases in time from left to right. In the example, K = 3, L = 6, and S = 4. Accordingly, three consecutive nominal repetitions of PUSCH 704d-704f are illustrated, starting at symbol 4 of slot n. Further, as shown, each of symbols 6 and 7 of slot n and symbols 4 and 5 of slot n+1 is configured as a symbol of a CLI measurement resource 708. Accordingly, the UE is configured to fragment the nominal repetitions of PUSCH 704d-704faround the CLI measurement resources 708.

[0121] For example, nominal repetitions of PUSCH 704d-704f are fragmented into actual repetitions of PUSCH 706d-706h. In particular, nominal repetition of PUSCH 704d includes a CLI measurement resource 708 at symbols 6 and 7 of slot n. The remaining symbols (symbols 4-5 and 8-9 of slot n) of nominal repetition of PUSCH 704d form two sets of consecutive symbols that are used to transmit two actual repetitions of PUSCH 706d and 706e. Nominal repetition of PUSCH 704e includes no CLI measurement resources 708, and therefore actual PUSCH repetition 706f spans the same resources as nominal repetition of PUSCH 704e. Nominal repetition of PUSCH 704f includes a CLI measurement resource 708 at symbols 4 and 5 of slot n+1. The remaining symbols (symbols 2-3 and 6-7 of slot n+1) of nominal repetition of PUSCH 704f form two sets of consecutive symbols that are used to transmit two actual repetitions of PUSCH 706g and 706h. In the example of FIG. 7B, the number of nominal repetitions of PUSCH 704d-f is less than the number of actual repetitions of PUSCH 706d-h.

[0122] FIG. 7C illustrates an example of PUS CH repetition Type B according to a timeline 700c that increases in time from left to right. In the example, K = 3, L = 4, and S = 10. Accordingly, three consecutive nominal repetitions of PUSCH 704g-704i are illustrated, starting at symbol 10 of slot n. Further, as shown, each of symbols 13 of slot n and symbols 4-7 of slot n+1 is configured as a symbol of a CLI measurement resource 708. Accordingly, the UE is configured to fragment the nominal repetitions of PUSCH 704g-704i around the CLI measurement resources 708.

[0123] For example, nominal repetitions of PUSCH 704g-704i are fragmented into actual repetitions of PUSCH 706i-706j. In particular, nominal repetition of PUSCH 704g includes a CLI measurement resource 708 at symbol 13 of slot n. The remaining symbols (symbols 10-12 of slot n) of nominal repetition of PUSCH 704g form a set of consecutive symbols that are used to transmit actual repetition of PUSCH 706i. Nominal repetition of PUSCH 704h includes no CLI measurement resources 708, and therefore actual  PUSCH repetition 706j spans the same resources as nominal repetition of PUSCH 704h. Nominal repetition of PUSCH 704i includes a CLI measurement resource 708 at all symbols of nominal repetition of PUSCH 704i, and therefore no actual repetition of PUSCH is transmitted in nominal repetition of PUSCH 704i. In the example of FIG. 7A, the number of nominal repetitions of PUSCH 704g-i is greater than the number of actual repetitions of PUSCH 706i-j.

[0124] In certain aspects, symbols of a nominal repetition of PUSCH configured for one or more purposes other than transmitting PUSCH may also not be used for actually transmitting PUSCH, similar to how symbols that are part of CLI measurement resources are not used for actually transmitting PUSCH. For example, the nominal repetition of PUSCH may further be fragmented around symbols used for one or more other purposes, such that repetitions of transport blocks are similarly encoded around such symbols.

[0125] In one example, a symbol of a nominal repetition of PUSCH at a slot border (e.g., regardless of what the symbol is allocated for) is not used for actually transmitting PUSCH. In certain aspects, a symbol at a slot border is the first symbol in time of the slot or the last symbol in time of the slot.

[0126] In another example, a symbol of a nominal repetition of PUSCH allocated for downlink communication (e.g., a symbol semi-statically configured, such as by RRC signaling, for downlink communication) is not used for actually transmitting PUSCH.

[0127] In another example, any invalid symbol of a nominal repetition of PUSCH is not used for actually transmitting PUSCH. In certain aspects, an invalid symbol is a symbol indicated to a UE, such as UE 504, in an invalid symbol pattern. For example, a network entity, such as BS 502, may transmit an invalid symbol pattern to the UE, the invalid symbol pattern indicating one or more symbols that are considered invalid symbols. The network entity may send the invalid symbol pattern to the UE in RRC signaling, such as in an information element (IE) . An example invalid symbol pattern information element (InvalidSymbolPattern) can be found in 3GPP TS 38.331 -RRC protocol specification Release 17.

[0128] In certain aspects, the invalid symbol pattern indicates a periodicity in terms of slots and a pattern in terms of symbols in the slot at which invalid symbols occur. In certain aspects, the invalid symbol pattern information element found in 3GPP TS 38.331 -RRC protocol specification Release 17 is limited in which symbols it can indicate as  invalid symbols. In particular, the invalid symbol pattern information element found in 3GPP TS 38.331 -RRC protocol specification Release 17 has a limited number of periodicities and a limited number of patterns that it can indicate. This is in part due to the format of the invalid symbol pattern information element found in 3GPP TS 38.331 -RRC protocol specification Release 17, such as size in terms of number of bits, and interpretation of the bits.

[0129] In contrast, the signaling used by a network entity, such as BS 502, to indicate CLI measurement resources to a UE may not be as limited as the invalid symbol pattern information element found in 3GPP TS 38.331 -RRC protocol specification Release 17. For example, a network entity, such as BS 502, may send to the UE a resource configuration for CLI indicating one or more symbols to perform CLI measurement. The network entity may send the resource configuration for CLI in RRC signaling, such as in an IE. An example IE indicating CLI measurement resources includes a MeasObjectCLI IE found in 3GPP TS 38.331 -RRC protocol specification Release 17. The MeasObjectCLI may include a srs-ResourceConfig that specifies SRS resources to be used for CLI measurements and / or an rssi-ResourceConfig that specific CLI-RSSI resources to be used for CLI measurements. The MeasObjectCLI IE is able to indicate a greater range of symbols than the invalid symbol pattern information element found in 3GPP TS 38.331 -RRC protocol specification Release 17, which is due to the difference in format between the two Ies.

[0130] Accordingly, in certain aspects, the network entity is configured to signal an invalid symbol pattern and CLI measurement resources to the UE, using separate information elements, as discussed.

[0131] In certain aspects, the UE is configured to use the information element indicating CLI measurement resources to determine which resources are CLI measurement resources that the UE encodes repetitions of a transport block around. In particular, the UE is specifically configured to encode around CLI measurement resources based on them being indicated in the information element indicating CLI measurement resources.

[0132] In certain aspects, the UE is configured to use the invalid symbol pattern information element and not the information element indicating CLI measurement resources to determine which resources the UE encodes repetitions of a transport block  around. Accordingly, in certain such aspects, the network entity is configured to indicate, as invalid symbols in the invalid symbol pattern, at least the same resources (and in some cases additional symbols) as indicated in the information element indicating CLI measurement resources. Therefore, since each CLI measurement resource configured at the UE is also indicated as an invalid symbol by the invalid symbol pattern information element, the UE encodes around the CLI measurement resources due to the UE being configured to encode around the invalid symbols. In particular, the UE may not be specifically configured to encode around CLI measurement resources based on them being indicated in the information element indicating CLI measurement resources.

[0133] Since the invalid symbol pattern information element found in 3GPP TS 38.331 -RRC protocol specification Release 17 is limited in which symbols it can indicate as invalid symbols as discussed, certain aspects herein relate to a new format for the invalid symbol pattern information element. For example, the invalid symbol pattern information element may instead use the same format as the MeasObjectCLI IE. As another example, the invalid symbol pattern information element may be extended to include additional bits as compared to the invalid symbol pattern information element found in 3GPP TS 38.331 -RRC protocol specification Release 17, such that additional values of the invalid symbol pattern information element are possible. The additional values may be mapped to additional periodicities and / or patterns of symbols, allowing the invalid symbol pattern information element to indicate a greater range of symbols. In certain aspects, the additional values may be mapped to additional periodicities and / or patterns of symbols that match periodicities and / or patterns of symbols that can be indicated in MeasObjectCLI IE, but were not indicated in the invalid symbol pattern information element found in 3GPP TS 38.331 -RRC protocol specification Release 17.

[0134] Aspects Related to Available Slot Counting

[0135] In certain aspects, a UE, such as UE 504, is configured to count certain slots as available for certain types of communication, or unavailable for certain types of communication. A slot considered available for certain types of communication may be referred to as an available slot. For example, slots that meet one or more criteria may be defined as available slots for uplink transmission, while slots that do not meet the one or more criteria may not be available slots for uplink transmission.

[0136] The use of the concept of available slot counting can help make uplink transmission more efficient by avoiding counting slots that are not available for uplink transmission when considering various uplink transmissions.

[0137] For example, as discussed with respect to FIG. 6A, a UE may be configured to perform PUSCH repetition type A. Further, the value of K defines the number of nominal PUSCH repetitions, and without the concept of counting only available slots, each of the nominal PUSCH repetitions are in consecutive slots in time. However, certain slots of the consecutive slots may not be available slots for actually transmitting PUSCH repetitions. Accordingly, the number of actual PUSCH repetitions transmitted may be fewer than the number of nominal PUSCH repetitions configured by a network entity, such as BS 502, as only nominal PUSCH repetitions can be used for transmitting PUSCH repetitions. The network entity may estimate that a certain number of repetitions of a transport block may need to be received from the UE to be able to successfully decode the transport block. Accordingly, as the number of actual PUSCH repetitions transmitted may be fewer than the number of nominal PUSCH repetitions configured by the network entity, the network entity may configure the UE with more nominal PUSCH repetitions than the network entity estimates it needs for the transport block. This technical problem may lead to inefficient use of resources, as the UE may use more of the nominal PUSCH repetitions than needed and transmit more repetitions of the transport block than needed. As a technical solution, with the concept of counting only available slots, however, nominal PUSCH repetitions may only be defined in available slots, such that the nominal PUSCH repetitions are in consecutive available slots, but not necessarily in consecutive slots in time. Therefore, the number of actual PUSCH repetitions may equal the number of nominal PUSCH repetitions, as each nominal PUSCH repetition is in a slot that is available for transmitting an actual PUSCH repetition. Thus, the network entity may configure the UE with only as many nominal PUSCH repetitions as the network entity estimates it needs repetitions of the transport block, leading to more efficient use of resources as a technical effect.

[0138] FIG. 8 illustrates an example of available slot counting. In particular, FIG. 8 illustrates slot n through slot n+5, where time increases from slot n to slot n+5. Slots n though n+2 and slots n+3 through n+5 are shown vertically stacked to fit in a single figure. Slots n+ 1 and n+3 are shown as unavailable slots. The remaining slots are available slots. As an example, assume a UE, such as UE 504, is configured to perform PUSCH repetition  type A starting at slot n (e.g., DCI (e.g., DCI format 0_1 or 0_2) configuring PUSCH repetition type A is received in slot n) , with a K value of 4. When not using available slot counting, each of slots n, n+1, n+2, and n+3 includes a nominal PUSCH repetition, and actual PUSCH repetitions may only be transmitted by the UE to a network entity, such as BS 502, in slots n and n+2, illustrating the described technical problem. When using available slot counting, slot n+1 and slot n+3 are not counted as available slots, and thus each of slots n, n+2, n+4, and n+5 includes a nominal PUSCH repetition, and actual PUSCH repetitions may be transmitted by UE 504 to BS 502 in all of slots n, n+2, n+4, and n+5, illustrating the described technical benefit.

[0139] ] In certain aspects, available slot counting is applicable to determination of a slot for transmitting SRS (e.g., aperiodic SRS transmission) . For example, in certain aspects, a network entity, such as BS 502, is configured to transmit DCI to a UE, such as UE 504, the DCI being a triggering DCI indicating to the UE to transmit aperiodic SRS. The DCI may indicate an offset value k (unrelated to the K number of nominal PUSCH repetitions) , which indicates an offset in number of slots at which the UE should transmit aperiodic SRS. For example, with respect to FIG. 8, assume the UE receives DCI in slot n triggering aperiodic SRS transmission with an offset value k of 3. Without available slot counting, the UE is configured to transmit aperiodic SRS in slot n+k, which is slot n+3. However, slot n+3 is indicated as an unavailable slot, and therefore, transmission of aperiodic SRS fails, illustrating the technical problem of failed communications. With available slot counting, the offset value k indicates the kth available slot after the slot in which DCI is received. In particular, the offset value k may be considered a counter that decrements each time an available slot is counted, and aperiodic SRS is transmitted in the slot where the counter reaches 1. In particular, with available slot counting, after slot n, slot n+2 is the first available slot, slot n+4 is the second available slot, and slot n+5 is the third available slot, and therefore aperiodic SRS is transmitted in slot n+5, instead of failing, illustrating the technical benefit of reducing failed communications.

[0140] In certain aspects, available slot counting is further applicable to transmission of a transport block over multiple slots (TBoMS) . TBoMS differs from PUSCH repetition type A in that in PUSCH repetition type A, the multiple repetitions of a transport block are transmitted in multiple slots, while in TBoMS one transport block is encoded across multiple slots and transmitted across the multiple slots. In certain aspects, a network entity, such as BS 502, is configured to send DCI (e.g., DCI format 0_1 or 0_2) to a UE,  such as UE 504, configuring the UE to transmit a transport block over multiple slots. The DCI may indicate a number of slots K (unrelated to the K number of nominal PUSCH repetitions) over which to transmit the transport block. For example, with respect to FIG. 8, assume the UE receives DCI in slot n triggering transmission of a transport block over multiple slots K equal to 4. In certain aspects, based on the DCI being received in slot n, slot n is the slot in which transmission of the transport block begins. When not using available slot counting, each of slots n, n+1, n+2, and n+3 count toward transmission of the transport block, but the transport block can only be transmitted in slots n and n+2, such that the transmission fails, or the transport block is only encoded over slots n and n+2, which may lead to a technical problem of failed communications. When using available slot counting, slot n+1 and slot n+3 are not counted as available slots, and thus the transport block is encoded by the UE over slots n, n+2, n+4, and n+5 and transmitted to the network entity over all of slots n, n+2, n+4, and n+5, illustrating the technical benefit of reducing failed communications.

[0141] In certain aspects, available slot counting is further applicable to DMRS bundling. In DMRS bundling, the same or coherent DMRS is sent in multiple time slots, such as for coverage enhancement. The DMRS may be for multiple uplink transmissions by a UE, such as UE 504, across multiple slots. A bundle of DMRS, accordingly, may include a plurality of DMRS. In certain aspects, a network entity, such as BS 502, is configured to send DCI or other signaling to the UE configuring the UE to transmit a bundle of DMRS over multiple slots. The signaling may indicate a number of slots K (also referred to as a time domain window) (unrelated to the K number of nominal PUSCH repetitions) over which to transmit the bundle of DMRS. For example, with respect to FIG. 8, assume the UE receives signaling in slot n triggering transmission of a bundle of DMRS over multiple slots K equal to 4. In certain aspects, based on the signaling being received in slot n, slot n is the slot in which transmission of the bundle of DMRS begins. When not using available slot counting, each of slots n, n+1, n+2, and n+3 count toward transmission of the bundle of DMRS, but the bundle of DMRS can only be transmitted in slots n and n+2, such that the transmission fails, or the bundle of DMRS is only transmitted over slots n and n+2, illustrating a technical problem of failed communications. When using available slot counting, slot n+1 and slot n+3 are not counted as available slots, and thus the bundle of DMRS is transmitted by UE 504 to BS  502 over slots n, n+2, n+4, and n+5, illustrating the technical benefit of reducing failed communications.

[0142] In certain aspects, whether a slot is counted as an available slot or not is based on whether the slot includes any part of a (i.e., at least one symbol of a) CLI measurement resource. In certain aspects, if a slot includes any symbols that are configured for CLI measurement (i.e., any symbols configured as part of a CLI measurement resource) for a UE, the UE does not count the slot as an available slot. In certain aspects, ifa slot includes any symbols allocated for uplink transmission based on the slot format of the slot (e.g., the symbol is an uplink only or flexible symbol according to the slot format of the slot) that are also configured as part of a CLI measurement resource for a UE, the UE does not count the slot as an available slot.

[0143] In certain aspects, a UE is configured to not count a slot as an available slot when the slot is configured for uplink transmission, and at least one symbol, of the slot, that is allocated for uplink transmission, based on the slot format of the slot, is also configured as a downlink symbol (e.g., as indicated in a configuration received by the UE from a network entity, such as tdd-UL-DL-ConfigurationCommon, tdd-UL-DL-ConfigurationDedicated) or as a symbol of a SS / PBCH block (e.g., as indicated in a configuration received by the UE from a network entity, such as an index in ssb-PositionsInBurst) .

[0144] Example Operations by a User Equipment

[0145] FIG. 9 shows a method 900 for wireless communication at a UE, such as UE 104 of FIGS. 1 and 3.

[0146] Method 900 begins at step 905 with obtaining an indication of one or more CLI measurement resources, the one or more CLI measurement resources being resources for the UE to perform CLI measurement. For example, as discussed a BS 502 may send signaling to a UE 504 indicating one or more CLI measurement resources. The CLI measurement resources may include symbols for performing CLI measurements.

[0147] Method 900 then proceeds to step 910 with obtaining an indication of a repetition configuration, the repetition configuration indicating a number of nominal PUSCH repetitions and a length of a nominal PUSCH repetition. For example, as discussed, a BS 502 may send a DCI indicating configuration parameters (repetition configuration) for PUSCH repetition Type B to UE 504. The configuration parameters  may include K, L, and S. K is the number of nominal repetitions of PUSCH. L is the nominal length in number of symbols of each nominal repetition of PUSCH. S is the starting symbol within a slot for the first nominal repetition of PUSCH.

[0148] Method 900 then proceeds to step 915 with sending a repetition of a transport block in each of a plurality of actual PUSCH repetitions based, in part, on the repetition configuration, wherein the repetitions of the transport block are encoded around the one or more CLI measurement resources, and wherein at least one of the plurality of actual PUSCH repetitions has a length less than the length indicated in the repetition configuration. For example, in certain aspects, nominal PUSCH repetitions indicated by the repetition configuration are fragmented to not use one or more symbols of the nominal repetitions for PUSCH for transmitting the transport block. In particular, any symbols of the nominal PUSCH repetitions that are also indicated as part of a CLI measurement resource are not used for transmitting the transport block. Any remaining symbols of a given nominal repetition may form one or more sets of consecutive symbols, where each set of consecutive symbols includes one or more symbols. Each of the one or more sets of consecutive symbols may be used for transmitting the transport block and be referred to as an actual repetition of PUSCH. As some of the symbols of a nominal repetition may not be used for transmitting the transport block, the actual PUSCH repetition may have a length less than the length indicated in the repetition configuration for the nominal repetition. In certain aspects, in order to encode the transport block on actual repetitions of PUSCH having different actual lengths, the coding rate used to encode the transport block on an actual repetition of PUSCH may be based on the actual length of the actual repetition of PUSCH, which may also be referred to as rate matching.

[0149] In one aspect, the repetition configuration indicates a plurality of nominal PUSCH repetitions, each of the plurality of nominal PUSCH repetitions has the length indicated in the repetition configuration, and the plurality of nominal PUSCH repetitions span a plurality of consecutive symbols.

[0150] In one aspect, the one or more CLI measurement resources comprise one or more symbols, and each of the plurality of actual PUSCH repetitions comprise a set of consecutive symbols while excluding the one or more symbols.

[0151] In one aspect, method 900 further includes obtaining a configuration of an invalid symbol pattern, wherein the invalid symbol pattern identifies the one or more CLI  measurement resources as invalid symbols that the UE is prohibited from using to encode the repetitions of the transport block.

[0152] In one aspect, the repetitions of the transport block are further encoded around one or more of: one or more symbols defined in an invalid symbol pattern; one or more slot borders; or one or more symbols allocated for downlink communication.

[0153] In one aspect, the indication of one or more CLI measurement resources is obtained via RRC signaling.

[0154] In one aspect, the one or more CLI measurement resources comprise at least one of one or more resources for performing CLI measurement based on a sounding reference signal associated with a second UE or one or more resources for performing CLI measurement to determine received signal strength indicator.

[0155] In one aspect, method 900, or any aspect related to it, may be performed by an apparatus, such as communications device 1300 of FIG. 13, which includes various components operable, configured, or adapted to perform the method 900. Communications device 1300 is described below in further detail.

[0156] Note that FIG. 9 is just one example of a method, and other methods including fewer, additional, or alternative steps are possible consistent with this disclosure.

[0157] FIG. 10 shows a method 1000 for wireless communication at a UE, such as UE 104 of FIGS. 1 and 3.

[0158] Method 1000 begins at step 1005 with obtaining an indication of a number of available slots. In certain aspects, the indication of the number of available slots is an indication of a slot offset for sending a sounding reference signal (SRS) transmission (e.g., aperiodic SRS transmission) after receiving the DCI in the starting slot. In certain aspects, the indication of the number of available slots is an indication of a number of physical uplink shared channel (PUSCH) repetitions (e.g., for PUSCH repetition Type A) . In certain aspects, the indication of the number of available slots is an indication of a number of slots over which the UE is scheduled to transmit a transport block (e.g., for TBoMS) . In certain aspects, the indication of the number of available slots is an indication of a number of slots for transmitting as bundle of demodulation reference signals (e.g., for DMRS bundling) .

[0168] Note that FIG. 10 is just one example of a method, and other methods including fewer, additional, or alternative steps are possible consistent with this disclosure.

[0169] Example Operations by a Network Entity

[0170] FIG. 11 shows a method 1100 for wireless communication at a network entity, such as BS 102 of FIGS. 1 and 3, or a disaggregated base station as discussed with respect to FIG. 2.

[0171] Method 1100 begins at step 1105 with sending an indication of one or more CLI measurement resources, the one or more CLI measurement resources being resources for a UE to perform CLI measurement. For example, as discussed a BS 502 may send signaling to a UE 504 indicating one or more CLI measurement resources. The CLI measurement resources may include symbols for performing CLI measurements.

[0172] Method 1100 then proceeds to step 1110 with sending an indication of a repetition configuration, the repetition configuration indicating a number of nominal PUSCH repetitions and a length of a nominal PUSCH repetition.

[0173] Method 1100 then proceeds to step 1115 with obtaining a repetition of a transport block in each of a plurality of actual PUSCH repetitions based, in part, on the repetition configuration, wherein the repetitions of the transport block are encoded around the one or more CLI measurement resources, and wherein at least one of the plurality of actual PUSCH repetitions has a length less than the length indicated in the repetition configuration. For example, in certain aspects, nominal PUSCH repetitions indicated by the repetition configuration are fragmented to not use one or more symbols of the nominal repetitions for PUSCH for transmitting the transport block. In particular, any symbols of the nominal PUSCH repetitions that are also indicated as being part ofa CLI measurement resource are not used for transmitting the transport block.

[0174] In one aspect, the repetition configuration indicates a plurality of nominal PUSCH repetitions, each of the plurality of nominal PUSCH repetitions has the length indicated in the repetition configuration, and the plurality of nominal PUSCH repetitions span a plurality of consecutive symbols.

[0175] In one aspect, the one or more CLI measurement resources comprise one or more symbols, and each of the plurality of actual PUSCH repetitions comprise a set of consecutive symbols while excluding the one or more symbols.

[0176] In one aspect, method 1100 further includes sending a configuration of an invalid symbol pattern, wherein the invalid symbol pattern identifies the one or more CLI measurement resources as invalid symbols that the UE is prohibited from using to encode the repetitions of the transport block.

[0177] In one aspect, the repetitions of the transport block are further encoded around one or more of: one or more symbols defined in an invalid symbol pattern; one or more slot borders; or one or more symbols allocated for downlink communication.

[0178] In one aspect, the indication of one or more CLI measurement resources is sent via RRC signaling.

[0179] In one aspect, the one or more CLI measurement resources comprise at least one of one or more resources for performing CLI measurement based on a sounding reference signal associated with a second UE or one or more resources for performing CLI measurement to determine received signal strength indicator.

[0245] The various illustrative logical blocks, modules and circuits described in connection with the present disclosure may be implemented or performed with a general purpose processor, a digital signal processor (DSP) , an ASIC, a field programmable gate array (FPGA) or other programmable logic device (PLD) , discrete gate or transistor logic, discrete hardware components, or any combination thereof designed to perform the functions described herein. A general-purpose processor may be a microprocessor, but in the alternative, the processor may be any commercially available processor, controller, microcontroller, or state machine. A processor may also be implemented as a combination of computing devices, e.g., a combination of a DSP and a microprocessor, a plurality of microprocessors, one or more microprocessors in conjunction with a DSP core, a system on a chip (SoC) , or any other such configuration.

[0246] As used herein, a phrase referring to “at least one of” a list of items refers to any combination of those items, including single members. As an example, “at least one of: a, b, or c” is intended to cover a, b, c, a-b, a-c, b-c, and a-b-c, as well as any combination with multiples of the same element (e.g., a-a, a-a-a, a-a-b, a-a-c, a-b-b, a-c-c, b-b, b-b-b, b-b-c, c-c, and c-c-c or any other ordering of a, b, and c) .
