Description

Description Title of the invention: Control of an air conditioning system by a graphical interface [1]The present invention claims priority from French application 2307728 filed on 19.07.2023, the content of which (text, drawings and claims) is incorporated herein by reference. The present invention belongs to the field of controlling a motor vehicle air conditioning system. [2]Control interfaces for an air conditioning system typically include a bulky physical knob requiring precise control, which is poorly suited for driving situations where the driver controls the vehicle's trajectory in addition to adjusting the air conditioning system. [3]More recent control interfaces rely on the use of a touchscreen displaying a graphical interface that can receive tactile inputs from the driver. However, such an interface is usually shared between a large number of vehicle functions, including infotainment functions, and controlling the climate control system can be complex. In addition, it is usually necessary to set the set temperature of the climate control system precisely, for example to the nearest degree Celsius, which, again, is not very suitable during driving situations. [4] There is thus a need to have a user interface for controlling the air conditioning system of a vehicle, which is both easy to use and intuitive, including during vehicle driving situations. [5]The present invention improves the situation. [6]To this end, a first aspect of the invention relates to a method for controlling a motor vehicle air conditioning system, comprising the following steps: - control of a touch screen of the motor vehicle to control a display of a graphical interface in a first configuration, the interface graphic in the first configuration comprising at least a first area comprising at least a side portion and a central portion; - receiving a first touch input from the user on the graphical interface displayed by the touch screen; - if the first touch input is a vertical slide in said at least one lateral part, sending a control signal to the air conditioning system indicating a change in the temperature of air blown by at least one passenger compartment nozzle of the vehicle; - if the first touch input is a vertical swipe in the central portion, controlling the touchscreen to control a display of the graphical interface in a second configuration, the graphical interface in the second configuration comprising a first area enlarged relative to the first area in the first configuration, the first enlarged area indicating at least one additional information of the air conditioning system or an additional control function of the air conditioning system, relative to the first area of the first configuration. [7]Thus, the first configuration allows the user, in particular the driver, to control the temperature of the air conditioning system by a simple vertical slide, which is compatible with simultaneous control of the vehicle's trajectory. In other situations, the driver can display the second configuration so as to control the air conditioning system with greater precision. This makes it possible to have an intuitive and uncomplicated graphical interface during driving situations, while allowing the driver precise control in other situations. [8]According to embodiments, the first area may be a lower area of the GUI in the first configuration and the GUI in the second configuration may be displayed if the first touch input is a vertical swipe up and down in the central portion. [9]This makes it possible for the user to switch from the first configuration to the second configuration in a simple and intuitive manner.

[0010] According to embodiments, the graphical interface according to the first configuration may comprise a left part for controlling a temperature of air pulsed by at least a first passenger compartment nozzle located on the left in a passenger compartment of the vehicle, and a right part for controlling the air temperature blown by at least a second passenger compartment nozzle located on the right in the passenger compartment of the vehicle. [1 l]Thus, differentiated control of the air temperature of the passenger compartment nozzles located on the right and the passenger compartment nozzles located on the left according to the invention is enabled, without inducing complexity in the temperature control, since the user can apply a vertical slide to the right on the touch screen to control the passenger compartment nozzles on the right, and to the left to control the passenger compartment nozzles on the left.

[0012] According to embodiments, if the first touch input is a vertical swipe in the at least one lateral portion of the first zone, the change in pulsed air temperature is determined based on a length of the vertical swipe and / or based on a speed of the vertical swipe.

[0013] This makes it possible for the user to intuitively and easily control the temperature of the air conditioning system while driving.

[0014] According to embodiments, the graphical interface according to the second configuration may indicate one or more of the following additional control functions: - control of an air conditioning intensity value of the air conditioning system; - step-by-step control of a set temperature of the air conditioning system; - control of a mode of the air conditioning system, the mode indicating a direction of air pulsation.

[0015] Thus, the second configuration allows more precise control of the configuration system by the vehicle user than the first configuration.

[0016] In addition, the graphical interface according to the second configuration can indicate an additional function of synchronizing the temperature of air blown by said at least one first passenger compartment nozzle and by said at least one second passenger compartment nozzle.

[0017] This makes it easier to control the air conditioning system when the user wants to reduce or increase the temperature evenly in the vehicle's interior.

[0018] According to embodiments, the graphical interface according to the second configuration may further comprise a closing area, and may further comprise receiving a second touch input when displaying the graphical interface according to the second configuration. If the second touch input is in the closing zone, the method further comprises controlling the touchscreen to control the display of the graphical interface according to the first configuration.

[0019] This allows the user to easily switch from one configuration to another depending on the driving situation.

[0020] A second aspect of the invention relates to a computer program comprising instructions for implementing the method according to the first aspect of the invention, when these instructions are executed by a processor.

[0021] A third aspect of the invention relates to a control device for a motor vehicle, comprising: - a processor capable of controlling a touch screen of the motor vehicle via a first interface of the control device, to control a display of a graphical interface in a first configuration, the graphical interface in the first configuration comprising at least a first zone comprising at least a lateral part and a central part. The first interface is capable of receiving a first touch input from the user on the graphical interface displayed by the touchscreen and the processor is configured to: - if the first touch input is a vertical slide in said at least one lateral part, sending a control signal via a second interface of the control device, to an air conditioning system indicating a change in the temperature of air pulsed by at least one passenger compartment nozzle of the vehicle; - if the first touch input is a vertical swipe in the central portion, controlling the touchscreen to control a display of the graphical interface in a second configuration, the graphical interface in the second configuration comprising a first area enlarged relative to the first area in the first configuration, the first enlarged area indicating at least one additional information of the air conditioning system or an additional control function of the air conditioning system, relative to the first area of the first configuration.

[0026] [Fig 3] is a diagram illustrating the steps of a method according to embodiments of the invention;

[0027] [Fig 4] illustrates the structure of a device according to embodiments of the invention.

[0028] Figure 1 illustrates the interior of the passenger compartment of a vehicle 100 according to embodiments of the invention.

[0029] The vehicle 100 notably comprises a control device 101, which may be a centralized control device responsible for a plurality of functions of the motor vehicle. The control device 101 may be of the ECU type in particular, for “Electronic Control Unit” in English.

[0030] The control device 101 may at least be responsible for controlling a graphical interface displayed on a touch screen 102 of the vehicle, the graphical interface being detailed with reference to the following figures.

[0031] The touchscreen 102 is capable of displaying a graphical interface under the control of the control device 101 and receiving touch inputs from a user of the vehicle, for example the driver of the vehicle. For example, touch inputs of several types may be received or detected by the touchscreen 102.

[0032] There are no restrictions on the technology associated with the touchscreen 102, either for its function of displaying the graphical interface, or regarding the detection of the user's touch input. For example, the touchscreen 102 may be of the capacitive or resistive type.

[0033] The vehicle 100 further comprises an air conditioning system comprising an air conditioning control unit 103 and at least one passenger compartment nozzle. 105.1 capable of delivering air of a given temperature and with a given flow rate, controlled by the air conditioning control unit 103.

[0034] The control device 101 is further capable of controlling the air conditioning system by sending control signals to the air conditioning control unit 103.

[0035] In a known manner, the air conditioning system may further comprise other elements not shown in FIG. 1, such as a compressor, a condenser, a dehydrator, an expansion valve and / or an evaporator, capable of receiving air from outside the vehicle and drawing air of a given temperature and with a given flow rate into the passenger compartment of the vehicle, under the control of the air conditioning control unit 103.

[0036] The vehicle 100 may in particular comprise at least two passenger compartment nozzles, in particular at least one first passenger compartment nozzle located on the left in the passenger compartment, and at least one second passenger compartment nozzle located on the right in the passenger compartment. In the example of FIG. 1, two first passenger compartment nozzles 104.1 and 104.2 are located on the left in the passenger compartment, driver's side, and two second passenger compartment nozzles 105.1 and 105.2 are located on the right in the passenger compartment, passenger side.

[0037] Figure 2a shows a graphical interface 200 displayed by the touch screen 102, under the control of the control device 101, in a first configuration, according to embodiments of the invention.

[0038] The graphical interface 200 comprises a first zone 201 dedicated to the air conditioning function, allowing the user to adjust the operation of the air conditioning system of the vehicle 100.

[0039] As shown in Figure 2a, the first area may be a lower area, located at the bottom of the graphical interface 200. However, no restriction is attached to the positioning of the first area according to the invention.

[0040] The first zone may comprise a left portion 202, a right portion 203 and a central portion 204.

[0041] The left part 202 is dedicated to controlling the temperature of the air delivered by the at least one first passenger compartment nozzle, that is to say by the two first passenger compartment nozzles 104.1 and 104.2 in the example of figure 1.

[0042] The left part 203 is dedicated to controlling the temperature of the air delivered by the at least one second passenger compartment nozzle, that is to say by the two second passenger compartment nozzles 105.1 and 105.2 in the example of figure 1.

[0043] In the example shown in Figure 2a, the set temperature of the left part 202 is 22 degrees Celsius, while the set temperature of the right part 203 is 21 degrees Celsius.

[0044] According to the invention, the set temperature can be controlled in the left part 202 and in the right part 203 by a user of the vehicle, driver or passenger, by a touch input from the user consisting of a vertical touch slide.

[0045] A vertical touch slide from bottom to top detected by the touch screen 102 is interpreted by the control device 101 as a command to increase the temperature of the air delivered by the first passenger compartment nozzles or by the second passenger compartment nozzles, depending on whether the vertical touch slide is detected in the left part 202 or in the right part 203. The control device 101 then transmits to the air conditioning control unit 103 a control signal indicating the set temperature thus increased, for the first nozzles or for the second nozzles.

[0046] A vertical touch slide from top to bottom detected by the touch screen 102 is interpreted by the control device 101 as a command to reduce the temperature of the air delivered by the first passenger compartment nozzles or by the second passenger compartment nozzles, depending on whether the vertical touch slide is detected in the left part 202 or in the right part 203. The control device 101 then transmits to the air conditioning control unit 103 a control signal indicating the set temperature thus reduced, for the first nozzles or for the second nozzles.

[0047] Such touch-swipe control of the set temperature allows for intuitive and easy input, even when the driver is driving, which is advantageous compared to prior art solutions.

[0048] The length of the vertical touch swipe and / or the speed of the vertical touch swipe may be detected by the touchscreen 102, and taken into account by the control device 101 in determining the changed, increased or decreased setpoint temperature. For example, the longer the touch swipe The longer the vertical touch swipe, the greater the change in the set temperature by the control device 101, upwards or downwards. Alternatively or in addition, the faster the vertical touch swipe, the greater the change in the set temperature by the control device 101, upwards or downwards.

[0049] When the vehicle 100 only includes first passenger compartment nozzles on the left, the right part 203 of the graphical interface 200 may be empty.

[0050] When the vehicle 100 only includes second passenger compartment nozzles on the right, the left part 202 of the graphical interface 200 may be empty.

[0051] The central portion 204 of the first zone 201 may display one or more pictograms, each pictogram indicating a state of the air conditioning system.

[0052] In the example of Figure 2b, a first pictogram 205 indicates an activation state of the air conditioning system, among an activated state and a deactivated state. A user press on the first pictogram 205 can be detected by the touch screen 102, and interpreted by the control device 101 as a command to change the activation state of the air conditioning system, from the activated state to the deactivated state or from the deactivated state to the activated state. The control device 101 thus sends an activation or deactivation signal to the air conditioning control unit 103.

[0053] A second pictogram 206 indicates a state relating to the intensity of the air conditioning system, the intensity being able to vary between at least two intensity levels, and preferably more than three intensity levels. The state indicated by the second pictogram 206 is thus the current intensity level. Each intensity level can correspond to a given speed of the air blown by the passenger compartment nozzles. When the user presses the second pictogram 206, the control device 101 can control the display of a graphic element allowing the user to select the desired intensity level as the current intensity level. Following the selection of the desired intensity level, the control device 101 sends a control signal to the air conditioning control unit 103, the control signal indicating the desired intensity level.

[0054] A third pictogram 207 indicates a status relating to one of several air conditioning modes. The status indicated by the third pictogram 207 is thus the current air conditioning mode. The mode can for example indicate one or more directions of air pulsation by the passenger compartment nozzles. The air can in particular be pulsated towards the users' face, towards the trunk, towards the legs or even towards the windshield, or towards several of these directions. When the user presses the third pictogram 207, the control device 101 can command the display of a graphic element allowing the user to select the desired air conditioning mode as the current air conditioning mode.

[0055] The graphical interface 200 may further comprise one or more second zones 208, each second zone 208 allowing, by pressing on the zone, access to a function of the vehicle or displaying a menu or a file stored in the vehicle. For example, the second zones 208 may comprise a second zone 208 dedicated to a telephone call function, a second zone 208 dedicated to accessing the vehicle settings, a second zone 208 dedicated to a menu of an infotainment system and a second zone 208 dedicated to vehicle documents, such as a user manual or warranty documents for example.

[0056] The graphical interface 200 may further comprise a third zone 209 capable of displaying menus of various functions of the vehicle 100. For example, the third zone 209 may be dedicated to the infotainment system, and indicate audio content currently being reproduced by the infotainment system. The user may in particular select audio content to be reproduced from a set of available audio content.

[0057] The second zones 208 and the third zone 209 are optional and given for illustrative purposes. No restrictions are attached to the respective size, shape and arrangements of the first zone 201, the second zones 208 and the third zone 209.

[0058] Figure 2b shows a graphical interface displayed by the touch screen 102, under the control of the control device 101, in a second configuration, according to embodiments of the invention.

[0059] The control device 101 can control the graphical interface 200 so as to switch from the first configuration to the second configuration, upon detection of a touch input corresponding to a vertical slide in the part central 204 displayed in the first configuration. Such a touch input can for example be a vertical swipe from bottom to top.

[0060] In the second configuration, a first enlarged area 211 is displayed on the interface 211, the first enlarged area 211 being larger in area than the first area 201 of the graphical interface 200 in the first configuration.

[0061] Thus, the first enlarged zone 211 can comprise at least one additional information and / or at least one additional control function, relating to the air conditioning system, compared to the graphical interface 200 in the first configuration.

[0062] The first enlarged zone 211 may in particular cover one or more of the second zones 208 and / or the third zone 209 of the first configuration.

[0063] A complementary area 219 that is complementary to the first enlarged area 211 may be displayed on the graphical interface 200 in the second configuration.

[0064] For example, the complementary zone 219 may display the information or functions of the third zone 209 previously described. Alternatively, the complementary zone 219 may display the information or functions of the second zones 208 previously described.

[0065] The first enlarged area 211 thus comprises at least one function or information which is not displayed or available in the first area 201 of the first configuration.

[0066] It is thus made possible for the user to switch to the second configuration for precise control of the air conditioning system. Such precise control can in particular be implemented by the user when the vehicle is not in motion and the user can concentrate on the graphical interface 200 of the touch screen 102.

[0067] the first enlarged zone 211 can thus comprise: - a left part 212 dedicated to controlling the temperature of the air delivered by the at least one first passenger compartment nozzle, that is to say the first two passenger compartment nozzles 104.1 and 104.2 in the example of figure 1. The left part 212 may be different from the left part 202 displayed in the first configuration, in particular to allow more precise control of the set temperature. The left part 212 may in particular include graphic elements “+” and “-” to control the set temperature step by step, to the nearest degree Celsius; - a right part 213 dedicated to controlling the temperature of the air delivered by the at least one second passenger compartment nozzle, that is to say the two second passenger compartment nozzles 105.1 and 105.2 in the example of FIG. 1. The right part 213 may be different from the right part 203 displayed in the first configuration, in particular to allow more precise control of the set temperature. The right part 213 may in particular comprise graphic elements “+” and “-” to control the set temperature step by step, to the nearest degree Celsius; - a part 214 for controlling the intensity level of the air conditioning system. The part 214 can in particular identify the current intensity level and allow, step by step, the selection of the intensity level directly higher or directly lower than the current intensity level, by tactile input from the user; - a pictogram 215 identical to the first pictogram 205 previously described, and having the same function of activating or deactivating the air conditioning system by the control device 101; - another pictogram 216 capable of controlling, upon user pressure, synchronization by the control device 101 of the temperatures of the air blown by the first passenger compartment nozzles and by the second passenger compartment nozzles, so that the same set temperature is applied to the right and left in the passenger compartment; and / or - a zone 217 comprising several pictograms indicating the air conditioning modes, for example the different directions of pulsation of the passenger compartment nozzles. One of the pictograms in zone 217 is highlighted, for example in bold, so as to indicate the current air conditioning mode. The user can select an air conditioning mode other than the current mode by pressing a pictogram corresponding to the other air conditioning mode.

[0068] The interface 200 in the second configuration may further comprise a closing zone 218. When the user presses in the closing zone closing 218, the control device 101 is able to control the graphical interface 200 so as to return to the first configuration.

[0069] Alternatively, the graphical interface 200 in the second configuration does not include the closing zone 218. In this case, the user can request a return to the first configuration by a touch input of the vertical touch swipe type, for example by a vertical touch swipe from top to bottom.

[0070] Figure 3 is a diagram illustrating the steps of a method for controlling a motor vehicle air conditioning system by a graphical interface of a touch screen, according to embodiments of the invention.

[0071] The method according to the invention is implemented by the control device 101 described previously.

[0072] In a step 301, the control device 101 controls the touch screen so as to display the first configuration of the graphical interface 200, in accordance with the explanations given with reference to FIG. 2a.

[0073] In a step 302, the control device 101 receives a signal from the touchscreen 101 indicating a first touch input from the user.

[0074] In a step 303, the control device 101 determines whether the first touch input is a vertical swipe in the left portion 202 or in the right portion 203 of the first area 201.

[0075] If this is the case, i.e. if the first touch input is a vertical swipe in the left part 202 or in the right part 203 of the first zone 201, then the control device 101 determines a modification of a setpoint temperature for the first passenger compartment nozzles or for the second passenger compartment nozzles, depending on whether the first touch input is in the left part 202 or in the right part 203, at a step 304. The modification of the setpoint temperature may in particular be determined by the control device 101 as a function of the direction of the vertical touch swipe, i.e. upwards or downwards, and optionally as a function of the length of the vertical touch swipe and / or the speed of the vertical touch swipe, as previously described.

[0076] If this is not the case, i.e. if the first touch input is not a vertical swipe in the left part 202 or in the right part 203 of the first area 201, the control device 101 can determine whether the first touch input is a vertical touch swipe in the central portion 204, including a vertical touch swipe from bottom to top, at a step 305.

[0077] Note that step 305 may alternatively be implemented before step 303, or at the same time as step 303.

[0078] If this is not the case, that is to say if the first touch input is not a vertical touch slide in the central part 204, then the control device 101 executes a command, at a step 306, according to the area of the first touch input, and optionally according to the type of the first touch input. For example, in the event of pressing in one of the second areas 208, the control device 101 can execute the function or display the information corresponding to the second area 208 touched.

[0079] If this is the case, i.e. if the first touch input is a vertical touch swipe in the central portion 204, the control device 101 controls the touch screen 102, at a step 307, so as to display the graphical interface 200 in the second configuration, in accordance with the description given previously in FIG. 2b.

[0080] At a step 308, while the graphical interface 200 in the second configuration is displayed, the control device 101 receives a control signal from the touchscreen 102 indicating that a second user input has been detected.

[0081] In a step 309, the control device 101 determines whether the second user input is in the closing zone 218.

[0082] If this is the case, that is to say if the second user input is indeed in the closing zone 218, the control device 101 can control the touch screen 102 so as to display the graphical interface 200 in the first configuration, and the method returns to the step 301 previously described.

[0083] If this is not the case, i.e. if the second user input is not in the closing zone 218, then the control device performs a function or displays information on the touch screen 102, depending on the position of the second touch input and depending on the type of the second touch input. The second touch input may for example be a press on the “+” symbol of the left part 212 of the first enlarged zone 211, in which case the control device 101 transmits a control signal to the climate control unit 103 to increase the temperature by one degree Celsius. instructions for the first passenger compartment nozzles which are located on the left in the passenger compartment.

[0084] Figure 4 shows the structure of a control device 101 according to embodiments of the invention.

[0085] The control device 101 comprises a processor 401 configured to communicate unidirectionally or bidirectionally, via one or more buses or via a direct wired connection, with a memory 402 such as a memory of the “Random Access Memory” type, RAM, or a memory of the type “Read Only Memory”, ROM, or any other type of memory (Flash, EEPROM, etc.). Alternatively, the memory 402 comprises several memories of the aforementioned types.

[0086] The memory 402 is capable of storing, permanently or temporarily, at least some of the data used and / or resulting from the implementation of the method described with reference to FIG. 3.

[0087] In particular, the memory 402 may store a lookup table comprising actions, such as performing a function or displaying a GUI configuration or information, associated with touch inputs, which may include a position and a touch input type. The memory may further store vehicle information, such as a warranty or explanatory leaflet.

[0088] The processor 401 is capable of executing instructions, stored in the memory 402, for implementing the steps of the method according to the invention, described with reference to FIG. 3. Alternatively, the processor 401 can be replaced by a microcontroller designed and configured to carry out the steps of the method according to the invention, described with reference to FIG. 3.

[0089] The control device 101 comprises a first interface 403 capable of exchanging bidirectionally with the touch screen 102, in order to send display commands, and in order to receive information on the touch inputs detected by the touch screen 102.

[0090] The control device 101 may further comprise a second interface 404 capable of communicating with the air conditioning system, in particular with the air conditioning control unit 103, to send control signals based on the user's touch inputs on the graphical interface 200.

[0091] The control device 101 may comprise other interfaces for communicating with other equipment of the vehicle 100, in particular with an infotainment system.

[0092] The present invention is not limited to the embodiments described above as examples; it extends to other variants.
