AI Technical Summary

Technical Problem

Current software for optimizing glass cutting plans by guillotine fails to account for the specific placement constraints of glass pieces on trestles, leading to suboptimal cutting plans and increased glass losses.

Method used

A computer-implemented method and device that determine an optimized cutting plane by constructing a tree of partial cutting plans, adhering to predetermined placement constraints, and selecting a complete cutting plan based on an optimization criterion, minimizing glass losses.

Benefits of technology

The method facilitates the design of multiple cutting plans that comply with placement constraints, reducing glass losses and simplifying the operator's task, while being easily parallelizable and adaptable to various optimization criteria.

Abstract

This computer-implemented process makes it possible to determine an optimized plan for guillotine cutting of a batch of rectangular glass pieces in at least one glass tray. The pieces are intended, after cutting, to be stacked on at least one easel, the pieces from one easel having to be placed on the trays according to a predetermined sequence for each easel. It comprises: - a step (E5) of defining cutting constraints and positioning constraints of said parts and an optimization criterion; - the creation (E10, E35) of a tree comprising a root, leaves each representing a complete cutting plan making it possible to cut all the parts of said batch, each other node of the tree representing a partial cutting plan, the cutting plan associated with a node of the tree being obtained (E35) by adding to the partial cutting plan associated with the parent node of this node, while respecting said constraints, the next part of a said easel determined according to the predetermined sequence of this easel; and - a step (E100) of selecting a complete cutting plan associated with a leaf of the tree according to said optimization criterion.
