Description

Title of the invention: Mounting support for sheet metal of a tank for transporting and / or storing gas in liquid state

[0001] The present invention relates to the field of tanks for transporting and / or storing gas in liquid state and more particularly concerns a mounting support for sheets for such tanks for transporting and / or storing gas in liquid state.

[0002] In order to operate an efficient transport and / or storage of gas in liquid state, the tanks reserved for this purpose are designed so as to ensure both sealing to prevent any leakage of the gas in liquid state and thermal insulation to prevent a rise in temperature of the gas in liquid state causing its evaporation.

[0003] Thermal insulation is provided by a plurality of insulating panels assembled so as to form a layer of thermal insulation defining a wall on which is subsequently assembled a sealed sheet made up of a plurality of metal sheets.

[0004] Mounting the metal sheets onto the wall of the thermal insulation layer is therefore a crucial step for ensuring the tank's watertightness and thermal insulation. The sheet to be mounted is first attached to a positioning frame and lifted using this frame. Due to the sheet's large size, several operators are required to position and secure it correctly. Furthermore, to guarantee optimal mounting, the sheet must be positioned very precisely relative to the sheets already installed.

[0005] However, the positioning of the sheet metal is not always consistent, and a potential accumulation of human error and / or procedural defects in sheet metal assembly can lead to lengthy and costly rework. Furthermore, the positioning frame used to mount the sheet metal creates a camber in the sheet metal which, after removal of the positioning frame, makes it difficult to position the sheet metal being fastened relative to the immediately adjacent sheet metal.

[0006] The present invention overcomes all of these problems related to the mounting of the sheets by proposing a mounting support for at least one sheet constituting a membrane of a tank for the transport and / or storage of gas in the liquid state, comprising at least one fixing module configured to reversibly fix the mounting support to at least one wall of the tank and a support area configured to support a sheet intended to be installed against the wall of the tank and to receive a slice of said sheet.

[0007] The mounting support according to the invention thus ensures improved mounting of the sheets at the level of a wall of the tank under construction, for example at the level panels of the tank's insulation layer. Indeed, supporting the sheet metal from below ensures greater stability before it is attached to the wall and also improves the accuracy of the attachment. Furthermore, the mounting bracket eliminates the need to attach the sheet metal to a positioning frame, thus preventing any deformation during installation.

[0008] The mounting module secures the mounting bracket to the wall, thus determining the starting position of the sheet metal to be mounted. Once the mounting bracket is fixed, the sheet metal is positioned against the wall, resting on the mounting bracket's bearing surface. The sheet metal is thus mechanically supported from below along all or substantially all of its length by the mounting bracket, which greatly improves stability and accuracy compared to lifting the sheet metal using the positioning frame. Optionally, the sheet metal can also be supported from above in addition to the mechanical support provided by the mounting bracket. It is thus understood that the mounting support according to the invention is particularly advantageous for fixing the various sheets forming the membrane on a vertical wall, that is to say on a wall where the sheets fixed to it are subjected to gravity in a direction parallel to one of the principal dimensions of said sheets.

[0009] The bearing area is arranged so as to be perpendicular or substantially perpendicular to a surface of the wall against which the sheet metal is intended to be fixed, in order to position the edge of the sheet metal on the bearing area so that the sheet metal extends against and along the wall. The bearing area is preferably oriented horizontally so that positioning the sheet metal on its edge allows for a predominantly vertical orientation of the sheet metal. The term "edge" of the sheet metal refers to the surface corresponding to the dimension along a given thickness of the sheet metal.

[0010] Once the sheet metal has been secured, the mounting bracket can be detached from the wall and repositioned at another location where the next sheet metal is to be attached. Despite the need to regularly move and secure the mounting bracket, it ensures time savings and efficient sheet metal installation.

[0011] According to one feature of the invention, the mounting support comprises at least a first adjustment means capable of moving the support area in a first direction and at least a second adjustment means capable of moving the support area in a second direction, the first direction being parallel to a principal dimension of the support area, the second direction being secant to the principal dimension of the support area.

[0012] The adjustment means allow for faster and more precise positioning of the sheet metal than fully manual positioning carried out by a plurality of operators.

[0013] The first and second adjustment means allow movement in two directions, which define a plane preferably parallel to the surface of the wall to which the sheet metal is intended to be fixed. This makes it possible to position the sheet metal so as to maintain alignment with the sheets already positioned and thus optimize its assembly in order to construct a tank guaranteeing watertightness and thermal insulation.

[0014] According to one feature of the invention, the first adjustment means and / or the second adjustment means comprises a position adjustment device. By way of non-exhaustive example, the position adjustment device of the first adjustment means and / or the second adjustment means may be a wrench, a ball screw, a screw-nut system, or any other element that can be rotated clockwise or counterclockwise to move the support area in a first vertical and / or horizontal direction or a second vertical and / or horizontal direction opposite to the first vertical and / or horizontal direction. The position adjustment device is easily operated and does not require multiple operators to adjust the position of the sheet metal.

[0015] According to one feature of the invention, the fastening module comprises at least one fastening element configured to be inserted into an insert in the wall. The fastening element is preferably configured for easy and quick insertion and removal. The inserts may be implemented in the wall specifically for fastening the mounting bracket, or they may be inserts initially implemented for at least one other function. The fastening element may, for example, be a screw or bolt that can be screwed into the insert and unscrewed from the insert. Preferably, the mounting bracket, once fixed to the wall, is flush against it with a tolerance of between 0 and 5 mm.

[0016] According to one feature of the invention, the first adjustment means is formed by a first rail and a second rail, the second rail being superimposed on the first rail and adapted to slide along the first rail in the first direction, the second rail forming the support area. This is a first embodiment of the mounting support according to the invention. The two rails are one on top of the other, and the sheet metal is positioned on the second rail, which is the upper rail in this case.

[0017] The first rail is fixed and the second rail is able to move along the first rail, thus ensuring the movement of the sheet metal in the first direction and constituting the first means of adjustment. The sliding of the second rail along the first rail can, for example, be achieved using a ball bearing. The first rail and the second rail can also have complementary shapes so that the second rail is nested within the first rail and sliding can be operated.

[0018] Advantageously, the first adjustment means of the first embodiment of the mounting support includes at least one stop element ensuring that the sliding of the second rail is limited in the first direction, in order to prevent the second rail and any sheet metal potentially positioned on it from falling.

[0019] According to one feature of the invention, at least the second rail is configured to extend along a main dimension less than or equal to a main dimension of the sheet metal. By way of example, the main dimension of the second rail may be between three and four meters. Such a dimension allows the sheet metal to be correctly positioned without risk of tipping. This dimension is measured between the two longitudinal ends of the rail.

[0020] It is understood from the above that, according to the first embodiment of the mounting support, the first rail and the second rail form the first adjustment means, while the second adjustment means is a position adjustment device as described previously.

[0021] According to a second embodiment of the mounting support according to the invention, the first adjustment means and the second adjustment means are both position adjustment devices. The bearing area can be a surface that is horizontally adjustable to millimeter precision by the position adjustment device acting as the first adjustment means in order to correctly position the sheet metal horizontally.

[0022] Independently of the embodiments presented above, the second adjustment means can also be a position adjustment device allowing the support area to be moved vertically or substantially vertically, i.e. in the second direction.

[0023] Regarding the second embodiment, the first adjustment means and the second adjustment means can be two independent position adjustment devices or be combined into a single position adjustment device capable of implementing a horizontal and vertical displacement of the support area.

[0024] According to one feature of the invention, the bearing area comprises at least one polytetrafluoroethylene bearing member configured to protect a lower edge of the sheet metal. Advantageously, the bearing member is the only element in contact with the edge of the sheet metal. The polytetrafluoroethylene, or Teflon™, material prevents any deformation of the edge or lower edge of the sheet metal which must support its own weight by being positioned on its edge.

[0025] In addition to the protective function, the support member also improves the retention and positioning of the sheet metal, which contributes to the safety of operators interacting with the mounting support.

[0026] Preferably, the support area comprises a plurality of support members along the support area, so that the sheet metal can be supported exclusively on the support members and in a stable manner.

[0027] The lower edge should be understood to mean a lower portion of the sheet metal surface extending primarily parallel to the wall. The lower edge is therefore located near the edge, which corresponds to the surface corresponding to the dimension according to the thickness of the sheet metal.

[0028] According to one feature of the invention, the support member is complementary in shape to the lower edge of the sheet metal. It is indeed possible that the lower edge may not be entirely flat and may include, for example, convex portions or corrugations designed to improve the tank's capacity. In this situation, the support member can be shaped to accommodate such convex portions so that these portions can also rest on at least one of the support members during the sheet metal mounting. It is understood from the above that, in order to improve the stability of the sheet metal positioned on the mounting support, a width of the mounting support, corresponding to a dimension perpendicular to the wall, is preferably equal to a thickness of the sheet metal, that is to say, taking into account the edge of the sheet metal as well as the dimensions of the convex portions.

[0029] According to one feature of the invention, the support member is capable of moving along a third direction intersecting the first and second directions. The third direction is preferably perpendicular to the first and second directions. The movement of one or more of the support members allows the sheet metal to be pressed against the tank wall while keeping the sheet metal supported by the support members so as not to damage it. The sheet metal can therefore be moved closer to or further from the wall depending on the adjustments made.

[0030] Advantageously, in the presence of several support members, these are configured so that the movement along the third direction is synchronized for all the support members, in order to maintain the stability of the sheet metal on the mounting support and to avoid any displacement of the sheet metal relative to the wall.

[0031] According to one feature of the invention, the mounting support comprises at least one retaining member configured to hold the sheet metal parallel to the wall. The retaining member provides additional support to the horizontal support. and to further improve the stability of the sheet metal once it is installed on the mounting support and before being fixed to the wall.

[0032] According to one feature of the invention, the retaining member comprises at least one end piece configured to come into contact with the sheet metal. As with the support member, the retaining member may, for example, have a shape due to its ends pieces designed to accommodate a particular shape of the sheet metal, for example, a corrugation thereof, always with the aim of optimizing the stability of the sheet metal when it is positioned on the mounting support. Alternatively, the ends pieces may be a flat plate bearing against a flat area of the sheet metal. The ends pieces may be made of polytetrafluoroethylene, or Teflon™, so as not to damage the parts of the sheet metal that are in contact with said ends pieces.

[0033] The invention also covers a method for mounting a tank plate for transporting and / or storing gas in a liquid state onto at least one wall of said tank, implemented by means of a mounting support for at least one plate as described above, during which: - The mounting bracket is attached to the wall using the fixing module, - The sheet metal is positioned on the support area of the mounting bracket, - the sheet metal is fixed to the wall.

[0034] Such a method, using the mounting support described above, ensures faster and more precise sheet metal installation and also requires less manpower to guide the sheet metal, thus allowing for faster overall tank construction. The sheet metal fixing step can, for example, be carried out by welding it to another sheet metal that has been previously installed.

[0035] According to a feature of the method, the position of the mounting support and the sheet metal can be adjusted using the first adjustment means and / or the second adjustment means once the sheet metal has been positioned on the support area.

[0036] Other features and advantages of the invention will become apparent from the following description on the one hand, and from several illustrative and non-limiting examples of embodiments given with reference to the accompanying schematic drawings on the other hand, in which:

[0037] [Fig-1] The [Fig. 1] is a perspective view of a first embodiment of a mounting support according to the invention;

[0038] [Fig.2] [Fig.2] is a side view of the first embodiment of the mounting support;

[0039] [Fig.3] [Fig.3] is a perspective view of a second embodiment of the mounting support according to the invention;

[0040] [Fig.4] [Fig.4] is a side view of the second embodiment of the mounting support.

[0041] Fig. 1 is a perspective view of a first embodiment of a Mounting support 1 according to the invention. Mounting support 1 is used for the construction of tanks for transporting and / or storing gas in its liquid state. The gas in its liquid state is stored at a very low temperature, for example -163°C. Such a tank must therefore meet specific requirements in order to maintain the gas in its liquid state at such a temperature. The two major factors relating to such tanks are therefore leak-tightness and thermal insulation.

[0042] The walls of a tank are made up of a plurality of panels forming at least one layer of thermal insulation and delimiting at least partially an internal volume of the tank, at least one of the walls of the thermal insulation layer is subsequently covered by a plurality of sheets forming a membrane and ensuring the sealing of the tank.

[0043] Each sheet of metal is therefore fixed to at least one wall of the thermal insulation layer, and it is important to fix each sheet precisely so that the resulting membrane meets the sealing criteria. The sheet of metal is fixed to the wall using a positioning frame attached to and supporting the sheet. Positioning and fixing are carried out by operators who communicate with each other, particularly to correctly position the sheet being installed so that it is aligned with one or more sheets already installed. Due to negligence and / or lack of time, this alignment is not always optimally maintained, which can create misalignments or imperfections that may compromise the sealing and / or thermal insulation of the tank and may then require lengthy and costly corrective measures.Furthermore, the positioning frame, being fixed to the sheet metal, exerts mechanical stresses on it, which can lead to deformations.

[0044] The mounting support 1 according to the invention makes it possible to increase the speed of assembly while greatly limiting any errors in the assembly of the sheets. To this end, the mounting support 1 comprises a fixing module 2 for fixing the mounting support 1 to the wall of the thermal insulation layer, and a support area 3 configured to receive the sheet intended to be fixed against the wall of the thermal insulation layer.

[0045] The mounting bracket 1 is initially fixed to the wall via the fixing module 2, in the vicinity of an area where the sheet metal is to be fixed. The sheet metal is then positioned against the support area 3, resting on its edge. Thus, the sheet metal is placed parallel to the wall against which it is intended to be fixed. The sheet metal is also supported from below, which improves its stability and allows for more precise adjustment.

[0046] The mounting support 1 includes at least one first adjustment means 4 and at least one second adjustment means 5, allowing at least a portion of the support area 3 to be moved along a first direction X and a second direction Y. The first direction X and the second direction Y define, in particular, a plane parallel to the wall against which the sheet metal is intended to be fixed, and are respectively parallel and intersecting, ideally perpendicular, to a principal dimension of the support area 3. Thus, it is possible to adjust the positioning of the sheet metal precisely so that it can subsequently be fixed in such a way as to respect the alignment mentioned above and guaranteeing the sealing and thermal insulation of the tank under construction.Such an adjustment operation, combined with mechanical support from below, is therefore more precise than when the sheet metal is suspended using the previously mentioned positioning frame. Furthermore, the adjustment means 4 and 5 reduce the number of people required to install a single sheet metal panel, as they are easily handled by only one or two operators. The overall installation is thus greatly improved in terms of speed if multiple mounting supports 1 are used by multiple groups of operators.

[0047] According to the first embodiment of the mounting support 1, the latter comprises, in particular, a first rail 6 and a second rail 7 superimposed on the first rail 6 along the second direction Y. The first rail 6 and the second rail 7 preferably extend, by a principal dimension less than or equal to a principal dimension of the sheet metal, for example between three and four meters, from one longitudinal end of the first rail 6 and / or the second rail 7 in order to correspond to the dimensions of the sheet metal. Such a dimension allows the sheet metal to be correctly positioned without risk of tipping.

[0048] It is the upper rail, here the second rail 7, that constitutes the support area 3 on which the sheet metal rests. The support area 3 also includes two support members 8 attached to the second rail 7 and configured so that the sheet metal rests on them. In [Fig. 1], two support members 8 are shown, but the mounting support 1 can include any number of support members 8. The support members 8 are advantageously made of polytetrafluoroethylene, or Teflon™, which allows the sheet metal to be positioned on its edge without risk of damaging or deforming it. Furthermore, the support members 8 improve the retention and positioning of the sheet metal, thus enhancing the safety of the operators responsible for constructing the tank.

[0049] Furthermore, the support members 8 may have a shape complementary to a lower edge of the sheet metal. Indeed, the latter may not be completely flat and may include convex portions, or corrugations, which may have a function sealing and / or thermal insulation. The support elements 8 can therefore have shapes that conform to these curved portions. Such a configuration improves the stability of the sheet metal once it is positioned on the support area 3, and the polytetrafluoroethylene material protects the sheet metal.

[0050] Furthermore, the first rail 6 and the second rail 7 constitute the first adjustment means 4 of the first embodiment of the mounting support 1. The first rail 4 is fixed, while the second rail 7, although integral with the first rail 6, is movable along the first direction X. This allows the sheet metal to be moved horizontally to correctly position it along the first direction X. The second rail 7 can, for example, slide along the first rail 6 via a ball bearing device, or, as shown, via a complementary shape allowing the rails 6 and 7 to interlock. As shown, the mounting support 1 includes at least one stop element to prevent the second rail 7 from sliding along the first rail 6 in order to prevent the second rail 7 from falling.

[0051] The second adjustment means 5 allows for displacement along the second direction Y, i.e., along the vertical direction. In [Fig. 1], the second adjustment means 5 comprises a position adjustment device 9. Such a position adjustment device 9 may be a key, a ball screw, a screw-nut system, or any other element that can be rotated clockwise or counterclockwise to move the support area 3 along a first vertical direction or a second vertical direction opposite to the first vertical direction.

[0052] The sheet metal supported on the mounting bracket 1 can therefore be precisely positioned along the two directions defining the wall to which the sheet metal is intended to be fixed. Once positioned, the sheet metal is then fixed to the wall.

[0053] Fig. 2 represents the first embodiment of the mounting support 1 seen from the side, and also includes a schematic representation of the sheet metal 10 positioned on the mounting support 1, as well as the wall 11 on which the sheet metal 10 is intended to be fixed.

[0054] In [Fig. 2], it can be observed that the fixing module 2 comprises at least one fixing member 13 ensuring the fixing of the mounting bracket 1 to the wall 11. The fixing module 2 preferably comprises a plurality of fixing members 13 in order to guarantee the stability of the fixing of the mounting bracket 1. The fixing members 13 may be screws or bolts configured to be inserted into inserts 14 arranged in the wall 11. The fixing module 2 is fixed reversibly so that the mounting bracket 1 can be moved when it is necessary to fix a sheet 10 in another location.

[0055] It is also important to note that the support members 8 can be moved along a third direction Z perpendicular to the first direction and the second direction Y, in order to move the sheet 10 closer to or further from the wall 11. Such a feature further improves the positioning quality of the sheet 10, since it can be pressed against the wall 11 only with the help of the mounting support 1.

[0056] A method for mounting the sheet metal 10 on the wall 11 thus includes a step of fixing the mounting support 1 to the wall 11 via the fixing module 2, then a step of positioning the sheet metal 10 on the support area 3, and more specifically on the support members 8.

[0057] Once the sheet metal 10 is positioned, its position can be adjusted using the first adjustment means 4 and / or the second adjustment means 5. Thus, the second rail 7 is moved along the first direction to adjust the horizontal positioning of the sheet metal 10, and the position adjustment device 9 is manipulated to adjust the vertical positioning of the sheet metal 10 along the second direction Y. Also optionally, the sheet metal 10 is also pressed against the wall 11 by moving the support members 8 along the third direction Z.

[0058] Finally, the sheet 10 is fixed to the wall 11, for example by welding with one or more other sheets already fixed, then the mounting support 1 is detached from the wall 11 in order to position it against another wall 11 and to fix a new sheet 10 to it. Such a mounting process can be carried out by two operators.

[0059] Since the omitted structural and functional details are identical to those described in [Fig.1], reference will therefore be made to the description of [Fig.1] for details complementary to those described in [Fig.2].

[0060] Figures 3 and 4 are respectively a perspective view and a side view of a second embodiment of the mounting support 1 according to the invention. As with the first embodiment, the side view of the second embodiment illustrates the sheet metal 10 and the wall 11.

[0061] The second embodiment differs from the first embodiment in that the support area 3 is a fixed portion without any support members. However, it is entirely possible to add support members to the support area 3 of the second embodiment.

[0062] According to the second embodiment, the first adjustment means 4 includes a position adjustment device 9, as does the second adjustment means 5. The position adjustment device 9 of the first adjustment means 4 and the position adjustment device 9 of the second adjustment means 5 may be a wrench, a ball screw, a screw-nut system, or any other element that can be rotated clockwise or counterclockwise to move the support area 3 in a first horizontal direction or a second horizontal direction opposite to the first. horizontal direction for the first adjustment means 4, and according to a first vertical direction or a second vertical direction opposite to the first vertical direction for the second adjustment means 5.

[0063] In figures 3 and 4 the adjustable modules 9 of the adjustment means 4, 5 are two independent position adjustment devices 9, but the adjustment means 4, 5 can both be controlled by a single position adjustment device 9.

[0064] The second embodiment of the mounting support 1 also includes at least one retaining member 15 allowing additional support of the sheet 10 against the mounting support 1. In [Fig.3], it can be seen that the mounting support 1 includes two retaining members 15 allowing better vertical stability of the sheet 10.

[0065] Each retaining member 15 is divided at its end into two tips 16 defining a receiving space. As with the first embodiment, the second embodiment of the mounting support 1 can be configured to receive a sheet 10 that includes curved portions 17, or corrugations. When the sheet 10 is positioned on the mounting support 1, the curved portions 17 fit between the two tips 16 of each retaining member 15. In order to avoid damaging the curved portions 17 of the sheet 10, the tips 16 can be made of polytetrafluoroethylene, or Teflon™. Alternatively, as not shown, the tips 16 can be flat if they are intended to come into contact with a flat portion of the sheet 10.

[0066] Just as for the first embodiment, and as illustrated in [Fig.4], the second embodiment of the mounting support 1 ensures the implementation of the mounting process described above.

[0067] The mounting bracket 1 is fixed to the wall 11 using the mounting module 2, more specifically the fasteners 13 which fit into the inserts 14 of the wall 11. The sheet metal 10 is then positioned against the support area 3 and against the retaining elements 15. The position of the sheet metal 10 is adjusted horizontally and / or vertically by manipulating the position adjustment devices 9 of the first adjustment means 4 and / or the second adjustment means 5, respectively, until the sheet metal 10 is correctly positioned in the area to which it is to be fixed. Finally, the sheet metal 10 can be fixed to the wall 11. Subsequently, the mounting bracket 1 can be detached from the wall 11 and fixed at a location where the next sheet metal 10 is to be fixed.

[0068] Of course, the invention is not limited to the examples just described and many modifications can be made to these examples without departing from the scope of the invention.

[0069] The invention, as described above, achieves its intended purpose and provides a mounting support for sheet metal used in the construction of a tank for transporting and / or storing gas in a liquid state, thereby improving the reliability and speed of installing said sheet metal. Variations not described here could be implemented without departing from the scope of the invention, provided that, in accordance with the invention, they include a mounting support conforming to the invention.
