Abstract
Description
1, The purpose of this device is to provide the opportunity for those with limited visual capacity to be able to view TV and over media output to the best of their visual ability. 2, An enclosed VR type headset that is fully immersive that covers the whole of the eyes and does not allow extraneous light in from any angle. 3, It is assumed that the wearer of the device has difficulty seeing because of damage to the retina, with only certain parts of the retina being stimulated by light. 4, Before the desired media can be played the retina is scanned by a tiny inbuilt scanner within the headset and this produces a map of the retina and the areas of the retina that are reacting to the stimuli produced by the passing scan and this then documents these areas of severe damage where no reaction is taking place then sends data to the central processing unit. 5, This data is then used by the inbuilt central processing unit to decide the intensity of delivery of the focused media output given the data gathered by the scan and the areas of the retina that require different levels of stimuli given the condition of any given part of the retina. 6, A media experience is then provided to people with damaged retinas caused by a number of conditions and whose eyesight is limited by their condition. 7, Media carrying focused beams are delivered to the retina at a bespoke intensity providing an acceptable experience and the ability for those who otherwise would not be able to for example watch television. 8, Data gathered by the CPU can be downloaded to provide data on treatment plans. 9, Constant monitoring by the scanner during use of the media player, provides data in order to provide constant bespoke optimum viewing experience and ongoing treatment data. 10, Internet connection allows remote monitoring of the performance of the retina to visual stimulation in order to gather long term data for research and treatments. 11, The media player will not be suitable for all types of visual impairment.
Claims
1, A headset connected to the internet that plays media output of the wearer’s choice and that has a central processor and an eye scanner built in to deliver a map of the condition of the eye in order to deliver bespoke visual media output stimuli to the retina, by concentrating focused media images on the more active parts of the wearer’s retina and novelty lies in the fact that the media playing headset has an inbuilt eye scanner in order to assess the condition of the eye before and during media presentations and the feedback gathered can be used for research to determine treatments by remote internet connected monitoring and provides bespoke delivery of media for the enjoyment of the wearer who would otherwise not have viable access to media output owing to eyesight impairment.AMENDMENTS TO THE CLAIMS HAVE BEEN FILED AS FOLLOWS:-Claims1, A headset connected to the internet that plays media output of the wearer’s choice and that hasa central processor and an eye scanner built in to deliver a map of the condition of the eye inorder to deliver bespoke visual media output stimuli to the retina, by concentrating focusedmedia images on the more active parts of the wearer’s retina and novelty lies in the fact that themedia playing headset has an inbuilt eye scanner in order to assess the condition of the eyebefore and during media presentations and the feedback gathered can be used for research todetermine treatments by remote internet connected monitoring and provides bespoke delivery ofmedia for the enjoyment of the wearer who would otherwise not have viable access to mediaoutput owing to eyesight impairment.LD2, A media-playing headset connected to the internet, designed to provide a personalized and accessible media experience for users and in particular those with eyesight impairments and the headset comprises a central processor with an integrated eye scanner, and a media output system, which work in tandem to deliver customized visual stimuli to the wearer's retina and the feedback collected by the eye scanner during media playback can be transmitted via the internet for remote monitoring by eyecare medical professionals and this data can be used for research purposes to develop treatments for visual impairments and to improve the functionality of the headset overtime and novelty of the invention lies in its ability to provide bespoke media delivery to individuals who would otherwise have limited or no access to media output due to eyesight challenges and by adapting the media output to the specific condition of the wearers eye and the headset ensures an inclusive and enjoyable media experience.
