Central heating system maintenance

Abstract

A reminder module 12 is provided for a wet type central heating system including a magnetic filter 10 and a chemical inhibitor added to the circulated water thereof. In accordance with manufacturer's recommendations, the magnetic filter 12 should be serviced annually, and the inhibitor should be checked, added or replaced every two years. The reminder module 12 comprises a timer arranged to provide a first alert for filter servicing at a first frequency of time, such as 12 months, and a second alert in respect of chemical checking every 24 months. The alert may be a visual or audible alert. The first or second alert may be preceded by at least one intermediate time indication which provides an advance warning of an upcoming first or second alert. The module may comprise mounting means adapted to releasably secure the module to the housing of a heating system filter unit 10. Actuator buttons 14,15 may be provided on the module 12 for performing a reset function following servicing or checking. [Figure 1]
