A system for publicly displaying messages includes elements carried by an automotive vehicle. In some embodiments the vehicle carries a publicly visible electronic display; a sensor for sensing the brightness of light in the vicinity of the display; and illumination varying circuitry for varying the brightness of light generated by the display in response to brightness detected by the sensor. In some embodiments the vehicles carries a publicly visible display formed by ganging together a plurality of displays, each having at least 640×480 pixels; and video drive circuitry for causing images to be shown on the ganged display with different portions of individual images being shown on each of the individual displays. In some embodiments the vehicle has an automotive electrical system and carries a publicly visible high-bright display, capable of providing over 1000 NITS illumination and having 640 by 480 or greater pixel resolution; and video drive circuitry causing images to be shown on the display. In some embodiments the vehicle carries a publicly visible electronic display and a computer. The computer has video drive circuitry for causing images to be shown on the display, a memory device capable of storing representations of animated display images represented in vector-based form; and programming for enabling the computer to generate animated images from the vector-based animation representations. In some embodiments the vehicle receives commands and/or information controlling what it is to display via a wireless transceiver.

Method and apparatus for automatically detecting sensitive information, applying policies based on a structured taxonomy and dynamically enforcing and reporting on the protection of sensitive data through a software permission wrapper

The present invention relates to the automatic detection of sensitive digital information, and the identification methods, application and enforcement of information security policies for digital information controlled through a software permission wrapper throughout the useful life of the information. This invention includes a unique taxonomy that defines the policies and rules regarding how the information is controlled automatically throughout its useful lifecycle based on the type of information, the stage of the information lifecycle, the user / group role accessing the information, the locality of the information, and the expected threats to the information. The taxonomy is maintained in a database that associates information security control policies and actions to sensitive data. These policies are enforced through a software permission wrapper that is used to encapsulate sensitive digital information. The software permission wrapper is used to control access and enforce digital rights to the information based on the taxonomy based policies for that information. The permission wrapper can automatically change the protection of the information based on pre-defined protection states that can automatically enforce discretionary access control rights to the sensitive information controlled in the permission wrapper. The changes to the level of protection occur dynamically based on changes in user locality, stage of information lifecycle, and user / group role and the detection of threats. In addition, there is provided an internal audit capability describing what actions the user has performed, where the data is located, with whom and how the data has been shared.

Identification system and method for medication management

An identification system and method for medication management comprises a controller, a drug library accessible by the controller, the drug library containing drug library profiles including a data set of drug information, and an identification module configured to read patient identification information from machine-readable identification devices worn by patients and to read drug information from machine-readable identification devices affixed to drugs or containers of drugs. The controller compares the read information to each other and to the drug library profile and provides alerts or error signals in the event of an inconsistency. In one case, identification devices are read by an optical reader fixedly mounted to the identification module. In another case, identification devices are read by an optical reader that is hand-held and mobile and can be moved to the location of the identification device. The hand-held reader communicates with the identification module by wired or wireless means. In another case, a third reader that is non-optical and wireless is fixedly mounted to the identification module. The controller is also configured to provide alerts or error messages in the event that there is an inconsistency between the drug information on the drug or drug container when compared to the drug library profile associated with the controller.

Interactive control system for an HVAC system

An interactive system for controlling the operation of an HVAC system is provide that comprises a thermostat for initiating the operation of the HVAC system in either a full capacity mode of operation or at least one reduced capacity mode of operation, and a controller for an outside condenser unit having a condenser fan motor and a compressor motor, the controller being capable of operating the compressor in a full capacity mode and at least one reduced capacity mode. The system also comprises a controller for an indoor blower unit having a blower fan motor, the controller being capable of operating the blower fan motor in a full capacity mode an at least one reduced capacity mode. The system further includes a communication means for transmitting information between the outside condenser unit controller and at least the indoor blower controller, where the information relates to the operation of the indoor blower and the outdoor condenser unit. The indoor blower controller responsively controls the operation of the blower fan motor in a full capacity mode or a reduced capacity mode based on the information received from the outdoor unit controller, and the outdoor unit controller responsively controls the operation of the compressor in a full capacity mode or a reduced capacity mode based on the information received from the indoor blower controller.

Image processing device, image processing method, program, storage medium and integrated circuit

It is an object to perform color correction that is simple and utilizes existing devices to achieve an increase in the feeling of depth in 2D images. Input image data are transformed into predetermined color information by a color information calculation portion 11. A correction amount control portion 10 determines a correction gain value for the color information according to depth information that has been input. A color information correction portion 12 performs color information correction based on the correction amount due to the contrast between the color information of a target pixel and representative color information of the surrounding region, and the correction gain value of the correction amount control portion. An output portion 13 converts this into a predetermined image format and outputs the result. Thus, by correcting the color information based on the contrast effect in conjunction with the depth information of the foreground and the background, for example, it is possible to easily increase the feeling of depth in a 2D image. Moreover, by controlling the color contrast effect with the depth information when performing the color correction, it becomes possible to more easily give a sense of depth that is perceived by humans.
