[0021] As shown in Figures 1 and 2, the general-purpose combine harvester has a running device 2 consisting of a pair of left and right crawlers that travel on the field, located on the underside of the machine frame 1; a pre-harvesting device 3 for harvesting grain stalks from the field, located on the front of the machine frame 1; a threshing device 4 for threshing and sorting the harvested grain stalks, located on the rear left side of the pre-harvesting device 3; and a control unit 5 for the operator, located on the rear right side of the pre-harvesting device 3.

[0022] An engine room 6 housing the engine is located below the control unit 5, a grain tank 7 for storing threshed and sorted grain is located behind the control unit 5, and a discharge auger 8 is located at the rear of the grain tank 7. A sun visor 9 is also provided above the control unit 5 to block direct sunlight.

[0023] The pre-harvesting processing device 3 consists of a raking device 3A that transports the grain stalks in the field to the rear while standing them upright, a cutting blade device 3B that cuts the base of the grain stalks transported to the rear lower part of the raking device 3A, an auger device 3C that gathers the grain stalks transported to the rear of the raking device 3A to the left, and a feeder house 3D that transports the gathered grain stalks to the threshing device 4.

[0024] As shown in Figures 3-5, a pre-cleaner 10 for removing airborne particles is provided at the front of the grain tank 7. The air drawn in by the pre-cleaner 10 is further filtered by a cleaner 11 located at the rear of the control unit 5 before being passed to the engine E and mixed with diesel fuel. In addition, two filters for removing impurities from the diesel fuel are provided in the refueling pipe between the engine E and the fuel tank 45 that stores the diesel fuel.

[0025] The fuel-air mixture is burned in engine E and then exhausted to the outside as exhaust gas through exhaust system 20. Exhaust system 20 consists of an exhaust pipe 21 connected to engine E, a silencer 22 connected to the rear of exhaust pipe 21 to muffle the exhaust noise, and a tailpipe 23 connected to the rear of silencer 22 to guide the exhaust gas to the rear.

[0026] A connecting pipe 22A extending forward is formed at the front of the silencer 22, and a connecting pipe 22B extending rearward is formed at the rear. This makes it easy to connect the rear of the exhaust pipe 21 to the front of the connecting pipe 22A, and the rear of the connecting pipe 22B to the front of the tailpipe 23.

[0027] The exhaust pipe 21 extends to the left from the exhaust port of the engine E, then curves upward, and then curves rearward, fitting into the front of the connecting pipe 22A of the silencer 22. In a side view, the exhaust pipe 21 is positioned with its rear end higher than its front end. This prevents dust, straw, and other debris from accumulating on the top of the exhaust pipe 21.

[0028] In a front view, the silencer 22 is positioned with an upward slant to the right, with its right side higher than its left side. This increases the distance between the control unit 5 and the lower part of the silencer 22, thereby suppressing the temperature rise of the control unit 5 caused by the heated air around the lower part of the silencer 22, which is heated by the high-temperature exhaust gas circulating through the connecting pipe 22A, and preventing deterioration of the working environment. It is preferable to set the upward slant angle of the silencer 22 to 45 degrees. This further suppresses the temperature rise of the control unit 5 and further prevents deterioration of the working environment.

[0029] Furthermore, in a side view, the silencer 22 is positioned with its rear end higher than its front end, and the connecting pipes 22A and 22B are also positioned with their rear ends higher. This prevents dust, straw, and other debris from accumulating on top of the silencer 22, connecting pipes 22A and 22B.

[0030] In a side view, the tailpipe 23 is formed from a front portion 23A that extends upward from the rear of the connecting pipe 22B of the silencer 22, and a rear portion 23B that extends upward more gently from the rear of the front portion 23A than the front portion 23A. This prevents rainwater from adhering to the top of the tailpipe 23 and prevents dust, straw, and other debris from accumulating. In addition, water and heavy objects such as pebbles that enter the tailpipe 23 can be discharged from the front of the tailpipe 23.

[0031] Furthermore, the rear portion of the rear section 23B extends further back than the rear wall of the grain tank 7. This prevents exhaust gas discharged from the rear section 23B from returning to the area around the operator of the control unit 5.

[0032] Furthermore, a heat shield cover 24 is provided on the upper side of the rear section 23B, covering the left, top, and right sides of the rear section 23B. This prevents dust, straw, and other debris from adhering to the rear section 23B.

[0033] The outer diameter of the rear of the exhaust pipe 21 is smaller than the inner diameter of the front of the connecting pipe 22A, so that a portion of the rear of the exhaust pipe 21 and a portion of the front of the connecting pipe 22A overlap. This allows the temperature of the exhaust gas discharged from the exhaust pipe 21 through the connecting pipe 22A to the silencer 22 to be lowered by the ejector effect. In addition, the outer diameter of the rear of the connecting pipe 22B is smaller than the inner diameter of the front of the tailpipe 23, so that a portion of the rear of the exhaust pipe 36B and a portion of the front of the tailpipe 23 overlap. This allows the temperature of the exhaust gas discharged from the silencer 22 through the connecting pipe 22B to the tailpipe 23 to be lowered by the ejector effect.

[0034] As shown in Figures 6 and 7, a main shift lever 16 for operating a continuously variable transmission (CVT) that increases or decreases the output rotation speed of the engine E and switches the direction of rotation is provided at the front of the side panel 15 located to the left of the operator's seat of the control unit 5. Behind the main shift lever 16, a sub-shift lever 17 for operating a transmission that increases or decreases the rotational output of the CVT is provided. To the right of the sub-shift lever 17, a harvesting lever 18 is provided for connecting and disconnecting the harvesting clutch, which is located in the transmission path between the CVT and the harvesting pre-treatment device 3, and the threshing clutch, which is located in the transmission path between the engine E and the threshing device 4.

[0035] The silencer 22 is positioned to the left of the left-right center of the side panel 15, with only the front part of the silencer 22 extending forward of the rear end of the side panel 15. The connecting pipe 22A of the silencer 22 is located on the left side of the side panel 15, with the front part of the connecting pipe 22A positioned behind the lever opening 18A through which the mowing lever 18 is inserted. This suppresses the temperature rise of the side panel 15, the auxiliary transmission lever 17, and the mowing lever 18 due to heated air around the lower part of the silencer 22, thereby preventing deterioration of the working environment. A fire extinguisher is also positioned above and in front of the silencer 22 on the lower side of the side panel 15.

[0036] The exhaust pipe 21 is detachably fixed to a support member 25 that extends to the left from the left side of the engine E, and is fitted inside the front part of the connecting pipe 22A, passing below the mowing lever 18. This suppresses deformation of the exhaust pipe 21 during operation and facilitates the routing of the exhaust pipe 21.

[0037] As shown in Figures 8-10, a rear frame 30 is provided at the rear of the control unit 5. The rear frame 30 is formed from a left rear longitudinal frame (the "longitudinal frame" in the claims) 31 extending upward from the aircraft frame 1, a right rear longitudinal frame 32 extending upward from the aircraft frame 1, and a rear transverse frame 33 connecting the upper parts of the left rear longitudinal frame 31 and the right rear longitudinal frame 32.

[0038] An extended portion 31A is formed on the upper part of the left rear vertical frame 31, which curves and then extends to the left. The left part of the extended portion 31A is connected to the right wall of the threshing device 4. This increases the rigidity of the rear frame 30 and suppresses deformation of the rear frame 30.

[0039] A clamping member 35 is provided below the connection point between the left rear vertical frame 31 and the rear horizontal frame 33, which clamps the silencer 22 from above and below. The clamping member 35 is formed from a lower plate member 35A that locks the lower part of the silencer 22, an intermediate plate member 35B fixed to the left rear vertical frame 31, and an upper plate member 35C that locks the upper part of the silencer 22. In addition, an extended portion 36 is formed on the left side of the lower plate member 35A, extending upward and to the left parallel to the upper plate member 35C.

[0040] The extended portion 36 and the front and rear lower parts of the silencer 22 are locked together via a pair of front and rear locking members 37, and the upper plate member 35C and the front and rear upper parts of the silencer 22 are locked together via a pair of front and rear locking members 38. This ensures that the silencer 22 is securely fixed in an upward-sloping position.

[0041] As shown in Figure 11, the grains threshed and sorted in the threshing device 4 are transported to the grain tank 7 by the grain lifting cylinder 40. A stay 41 is provided in the middle of the grain lifting cylinder 40 in the vertical direction, and a connecting member 42 provided at the front of the rear part 23B of the tailpipe 23 is detachably fixed to the lower part of the stay 41 by fastening members such as bolts, and a connecting member (not shown) provided at the rear is detachably fixed to the right wall of the threshing device 4 by fastening members such as bolts. This allows the rear part 23B to be easily attached to and detached from the stay 41.

[0042] As shown in Figure 12, the stay 41 has a rib 41A extending in the front-rear direction on its left side, and a rib 41B extending in the left-right direction that connects the intermediate part of the grain lifting cylinder 40 and the rib 41A. This prevents deformation of the stay 41 and firmly fixes the front part of the rear side 23B. In addition, much of the heat from the rear side 23B, which is heated to a high temperature by the exhaust gas, is released into the atmosphere from the grain lifting cylinder 40, thus suppressing the heat impact on the threshing device 4 and the grain tank 7. Furthermore, the grain passing through the grain lifting cylinder 40 passes through in an extremely short time, so there is no heat impact on the grain. In addition, the harness connecting the angle sensor that measures the operating angle of the main shift lever 16 and the controller, etc., is routed at a position away from the exhaust device 20.

[0043] As shown in Figures 13 and 14, an extension tailpipe (the "first extension tailpipe" in the claims) 50 can be connected to the rear of the rear portion 23B of the tailpipe 23. The extension tailpipe 50 is formed from a curved portion that extends rearward from the rear end of the rear portion 23B and then curves approximately 90 degrees to the left, and an extended portion that extends to the left from the left side of the curved portion, with the left side of the extended portion located near the left wall of the threshing device 4. This allows for a large distance between the operator of the control unit 5 and the exhaust port of the extended portion of the extension tailpipe 50, preventing exhaust gas discharged from the extended portion from returning to the area around the operator of the control unit 5.

[0044] The outer diameter of the rear portion 23B is formed to be smaller than the inner diameter of the front portion of the curved section of the extension tailpipe 50, so that a part of the rear portion 23B of the tailpipe 23 and a part of the front portion of the curved section of the extension tailpipe 50 overlap. This allows the temperature of the exhaust gas discharged from the rear portion 23C to the curved section of the extension tailpipe 50 to be lowered by the ejector effect.

[0045] A heat-shielding cover 51 is provided on the outside of the extension tailpipe 50, covering the outer circumference of the extension tailpipe 50, with the left end of the heat-shielding cover 51 extending to the left of the left end of the extension tailpipe 50. This prevents dust, straw, and other debris from adhering to the extension tailpipe 50, and also prevents rainwater from entering the extension tailpipe 50.

[0046] The lower part of the heat shield cover 51 is fixed to a support member 52 that extends rearward from the rear wall of a pair of left and right threshing devices 4, which are provided at a predetermined distance apart in the left-right direction. This allows the heat shield cover 51 to be easily attached to and detached from the outer circumference of the extension tailpipe 50.

[0047] As shown in Figures 15 and 16, another extension tailpipe (the "second extension tailpipe" in the claims) 60 can also be connected to the rear of the rear portion 23B of the tailpipe 23. The extension tailpipe 60 is formed from a curved portion that extends rearward from the rear end of the rear portion 23B and then curves approximately 90 degrees to the right, and an extended portion that extends to the right from the right side of the curved portion, with the right side of the extended portion located near the extension line of the right wall of the grain tank 7 extended rearward. This makes it possible to create a large distance between the operator of the control unit 5 and the exhaust port of the extended portion of the extension tailpipe 60, preventing exhaust gas discharged from the extended portion from returning to the area around the operator of the control unit 5.

[0048] The outer diameter of the rear portion 23B is formed to be smaller than the inner diameter of the front portion of the curved section of the extension tailpipe 60, so that a part of the rear portion 23C of the tailpipe 23 and a part of the front portion of the curved section of the extension tailpipe 60 overlap. This allows the temperature of the exhaust gas discharged from the rear portion 23C to the curved section of the extension tailpipe 60 to be lowered by the ejector effect.

[0049] A heat-shielding cover 61 is provided on the outside of the extension tailpipe 60, covering the outer circumference of the extension tailpipe 60, with the right end of the heat-shielding cover 61 extending to the right of the right end of the extension tailpipe 60. This prevents dust, straw, and other debris from adhering to the extension tailpipe 60, and also prevents rainwater from entering the extension tailpipe 60.

[0050] The front portion of the heat shield cover 61 is fixed to a support member 62 that extends rearward from the vertical discharge section 9A. The heat shield cover 61 and the support member 62 are detachably fixed together by fasteners such as bolts. This allows the heat shield cover 61 to be easily attached to and detached from the outer circumference of the extension tailpipe 60. [Explanation of Symbols]
