Abstract
To provide a ship propulsion system capable of suppressing vibrations during steering. [Solution] The ship propulsion system 100 comprises a main propulsion engine 3, an auxiliary propulsion engine 4, a steering actuator 33, a steering motor 56, and a main controller 101. The main propulsion engine 3 is mounted on the hull 2. The auxiliary propulsion engine 4 is mounted on the hull 2 and has a lower rated output than the main propulsion engine 3. The steering actuator 33 changes the rudder angle of the main propulsion engine 3. The steering motor 56 changes the rudder angle of the auxiliary propulsion engine 4. When steering the hull 2 in a state where the main propulsion engine 3 is not generating thrust and the auxiliary propulsion engine 4 is generating thrust, the main controller 101 controls the steering actuator 33 and the steering motor 56 so that the steering speed of the main propulsion engine 3 is slower than the steering speed of the auxiliary propulsion engine 4.
