The control unit uses the transport unit to transport the sheet of paper to a first waiting position determined within the transport path, and after the sheet of paper has been waiting at the first waiting position for a first waiting time, transports the sheet of paper to the image forming unit, and uses the image forming unit to form an image on the first surface of the sheet of paper. The transport unit uses the transport unit to transport the sheet of paper to a second waiting position, and after the sheet of paper has been waiting at the second waiting position for a second waiting time longer than the first waiting time, transports the sheet of paper to the image forming unit, and uses the image forming unit to form an image on the second surface of the sheet of paper.
