Abstract
This disclosure provides a reactor system and method that uses in-line measurement of refractive index for monitoring and controlling a catalytic reaction for hydrogen production. The outcome of the catalytic reaction (e.g., total organic carbon level) can be determined using refractive index data measured in-line from the product flow. Advantageously, the reactor system may include a control unit for acquiring in-line refractive index data, determining the outcome of the reaction, and adjusting the catalyst and / or reaction conditions based on the determined outcome, so that the progress of the catalytic reaction can be automatically controlled.
