Abstract

This disclosure relates to systems, apparatus, and methods for automated reagent storage within a cell processing system. In one embodiment, the disclosure relates to a reagent storage system comprising: a refrigeration unit for storing cell processing reagents; a rotating carousel configured to receive one or more fluid devices, the rotating carousel being configured to store cell processing reagents; and at least one sensor for measuring at least one parameter of the reagent storage system.

Claims

1. A reagent storage system for use in cell processing, A refrigerated unit for storing cell processing reagents, A rotating carousel configured to receive one or more fluid devices, wherein the one or more fluid devices are configured to store the cell processing reagents, A reagent storage system comprising at least one sensor for measuring at least one parameter of the reagent storage system.

2. The reagent storage system according to claim 1, wherein the at least one sensor is a temperature sensor, a pressure sensor, a particulate sensor, a relative humidity sensor, a hydrogen peroxide sensor, or a combination thereof.

3. The reagent storage system according to claim 2, wherein the at least one sensor is a temperature sensor.

4. The reagent storage system according to claim 1, further comprising a scanner, the scanner configured to scan barcodes on one or more fluid devices to detect the size of the one or more fluid devices.

5. The reagent storage system according to claim 1, further comprising a sterilization nozzle for supplying a sterilizing agent to one or more fluid devices.

6. The reagent storage system according to claim 1, further comprising a plurality of refrigeration units.

7. The reagent storage system according to claim 1, wherein one or more of the fluid devices are of different sizes.

8. The reagent storage system according to claim 1, further comprising a robotic arm for transferring one or more fluid devices from the rotating carousel to one or more devices in a cell processing work cell.

9. The reagent storage system according to claim 8, wherein the robot arm comprises a fluid device engagement feature end effector for connecting to one or more fluid devices.

10. The reagent storage system according to claim 1, further comprising a just-in-time feedthrough for loading one or more time-constrained reagents into the reagent storage system.

11. The reagent storage system according to claim 1, further comprising a cartridge feedthrough for loading one or more cartridges into the reagent storage system.

12. The reagent storage system according to claim 1, further comprising a waste unit.

13. The reagent storage system according to claim 1, wherein the refrigeration unit, the rotating carousel, and the at least one sensor for monitoring at least one parameter of the reagent storage system are housed in a single unit, the unit comprising an outer door for user access to the rotating carousel and an inner door for access to cell processing equipment in a sterile work cell.

14. The reagent storage system according to claim 13, further comprising an interlock, the interlock locking the outer door when the inner door is open.

15. The reagent storage system according to claim 10, wherein the just-in-time feedthrough comprises a sterilization nozzle for supplying a sterilizer to one or more time-constrained reagents.

16. The reagent storage system according to claim 3, further comprising an alarm for warning the user when the temperature sensor measures a temperature higher than a threshold temperature.

17. The reagent storage system according to claim 16, wherein the threshold temperature may be in the range of about 2°C to about 8°C.

18. The reagent storage system according to claim 16, wherein the alarm is an audible alarm, a visual alarm, a virtual alarm, or a combination thereof.

19. The reagent storage system according to claim 1, further comprising a controller.

20. The reagent storage system according to claim 19, wherein the controller is configured to activate at least one sensor, activate a scanner, activate an interlock, activate an alarm, activate a robotic arm, or a combination thereof.

21. A method for automated cell processing, A fluid device, equipped with a barcode and containing cell processing reagents, is loaded into a rotatable carousel. The rotatable carousel is located within a reagent storage system comprising a refrigeration unit, a scanner, at least one sensor for measuring at least one parameter of the reagent storage system, and a robotic arm, and is used for loading. Scanning the barcode of the fluid device with the scanner, A method comprising using the robotic arm to move the fluid apparatus from the rotatable carousel to the equipment in the cell processing work cell.

22. The method according to claim 21, wherein the at least one sensor is a temperature sensor, a pressure sensor, a particulate sensor, a relative humidity sensor, a hydrogen peroxide sensor, or a combination thereof.

23. The method according to claim 22, wherein the at least one sensor is a temperature sensor, and the method further comprises measuring a temperature using the at least one temperature sensor.

24. The method according to claim 21, further comprising providing a sterilizing agent for sterilizing the fluid device.

25. The method according to claim 24, wherein the sterilizing agent is ionized hydrogen peroxide (iHP), vaporized hydrogen peroxide (VHP), chlorine dioxide (CD), ultraviolet light (UV), or isopropyl mist.

26. The method according to claim 21, further comprising loading a plurality of fluid devices into the rotatable carousel.

27. The method according to claim 26, wherein at least two of the fluid devices are of different sizes.

28. The method according to claim 27, further comprising scanning the at least two fluid devices of different sizes with the scanner to determine that the fluid devices are of different sizes.

29. The method according to claim 23, further comprising warning the user if the measured temperature is higher than a threshold temperature.

30. The method according to claim 21, wherein the rotatable carousel is loaded with a fluid device according to a cell processing workflow.

31. The method according to claim 30, wherein the reagent storage system further comprises a controller configured to perform the cell processing workflow.
