A method for overcoming Logical Channel ID (LCID) limitations during bearer type switching when multiple ENDC bearers are supported. First, this method describes determining the configuration mode of a bearer being added for a UE, which may be either MCG mode or SCG split mode. Furthermore, the method describes assigning an LCID to a bearer based on the configuration mode and one or more criteria. When the method detects that a secondary node has been added to the communication network, it describes performing its task by checking whether an LCID is available to be assigned to the corresponding bearer that requires SCG split mode in response to the addition of the secondary node.
