[0001] This patent application claims the benefit of U.S. Provisional Patent Application No. 201941044022, by BHATTAD et al., entitled "PUSCH TIMELINE ISSUES WITH EXTENDED CP," filed on October 30, 2019, and which is assigned to the assignee of this application. [Technical field]
[0002] The following relates generally to wireless communications, and more particularly to uplink channel timelines with extended cyclic prefixes. [Background technology]
[0003]
[0003] Wireless communication systems have been widely deployed to provide various types of communication content, such as voice, video, packet data, messaging, broadcasts, and the like. These systems may be capable of supporting communication with multiple users by sharing available system resources (e.g., time, frequency, and power). Examples of such multiple access systems include fourth generation (4G) systems, such as Long Term Evolution (LTE), LTE Advanced (LTE-A), or LTE-A Pro systems, and fifth generation (5G) systems, sometimes referred to as New Radio (NR) systems. These systems may employ technologies such as Code Division Multiple Access (CDMA), Time Division Multiple Access (TDMA), Frequency Division Multiple Access (FDMA), Orthogonal Frequency Division Multiple Access (OFDMA), or Discrete Fourier Transform Spread Orthogonal Frequency Division Multiplexing (DFT-S-OFDM). A wireless multiple access communication system may include several base stations or network access nodes, each simultaneously supporting communication for multiple communication devices, sometimes known as user equipment (UE).
[0004]
[0004] Transmissions in wireless communication systems such as LTE and NR systems may use a cyclic prefix (CP) to provide a guard period at the beginning of a symbol (e.g., OFDMA symbol) that provides protection against multipath delay spread. A CP may be generated by copying the end of the body of a symbol to the beginning of the symbol such that the frequency domain representation of each delay spread component within a Fast Fourier Transform (FFT) processing window is the same. The lengths of both the normal CP (NCP) and the extended CP (ECP) may be specified in the system, with the NCP intended to be sufficient in the majority of scenarios and the ECP intended for scenarios with relatively high delay spread. An efficient technique for using the ECP may be desirable to help improve system efficiency. Summary of the Invention
[0005]
[0005] The described techniques relate to improved methods, systems, devices, and apparatuses that support an uplink channel timeline using an extended cyclic prefix. Generally, the described techniques provide a user equipment (UE) that supports an extended cyclic prefix (ECP) to identify or determine a duration of the ECP and transmit an ECP followed by an uplink message (e.g., on a first symbol of one or more symbols of an uplink message), where the ECP is based on when the uplink message is transmitted. For example, the UE may transmit an indication of a UE capability of supporting the ECP, where the ECP is transmitted based on the UE capability. Furthermore, the UE may identify or determine a duration of the ECP based on an uplink grant received from the uplink message and / or a base station that schedules the ECP. In some cases, the uplink grant may include an explicit indication of the ECP duration, an implicit indication of the ECP duration (e.g., via a multiplexing parameter that the UE uses to derive the ECP duration), a start symbol for transmitting an uplink message that the UE uses to start transmitting the ECP and subsequent uplink messages, or a combination thereof. Additionally or alternatively, the UE may determine the ECP duration based on a set of offsets and UE capabilities, where the set of offsets is configured in part by the base station.
[0006]
[0006] In some cases, the UE may also identify that uplink control information (UCI) that at least partially overlaps with the uplink message should be transmitted, and may determine how to multiplex the UCI with the uplink message based on the ECP. For example, the UE may determine whether to multiplex the UCI or determine the symbols of the uplink message to multiplex with the UCI based on the UE's timeline capability between identifying the trigger for transmitting the UCI and transmitting the UCI, where the timeline capability is based on the minimum number of symbols required by the UE between the event trigger and the start of the uplink channel for transmitting the UCI, the ECP, a timing advance (TA), or a combination thereof. Additionally or alternatively, upon receiving an indication of the ECP in the uplink grant, the UE may determine whether to transmit the uplink message indicated by the uplink grant based on the UE's similar timeline capability. For example, the timeline capability may be based on the minimum number of symbols required by the UE between the uplink grant and the start of the uplink channel for transmitting the uplink message, the ECP, a TA, or a combination thereof. Additionally, when transmitting an ECP and an uplink message, the ECP and the uplink message may be transmitted in the same slot (e.g., neither the ECP nor the uplink channel carrying the uplink message may cross a slot boundary based on the UE's buffer limitations / capabilities).
[0007] A method of wireless communication in a UE is described, which may include: transmitting an indication of a UE capability supporting ECP, determining to transmit an uplink message on resources of an uplink channel, performing a listen-before-talk (LBT) procedure based on the determining to transmit the uplink message, determining a duration of the ECP associated with the resources of the uplink channel, transmitting the ECP and a first symbol of one or more symbols of a subsequent uplink message on the resources of the uplink channel according to the determined duration, the ECP being based on the first symbol.
[0008] An apparatus for wireless communication in a UE is described. The apparatus may include a processor, a memory coupled to the processor, and instructions stored in the memory. The instructions may be executable by the processor to cause the apparatus to: transmit an indication of a UE capability supporting ECP; determine to transmit an uplink message on resources of an uplink channel; and, upon performing an LBT procedure based on determining to transmit the uplink message, determine a duration of the ECP associated with the resources of the uplink channel; transmit the ECP according to the determined duration followed by a first symbol of one or more symbols of the uplink message on the resources of the uplink channel; the ECP being based on the first symbol.

The code may include instructions executable by a processor to: transmit an indication of a UE capability supporting ECP; determine to transmit an uplink message on resources of an uplink channel; perform an LBT procedure based on the determination to transmit the uplink message; determine a duration of the ECP associated with the resources of the uplink channel; transmit the ECP and a first symbol of one or more symbols of a subsequent uplink message on the resources of the uplink channel according to the determined duration; and the ECP is based on the first symbol.

DETAILED DESCRIPTION OF THE PREFERRED EMBODIMENTS
[0066]
[0078] In some wireless communication systems, a user equipment (UE) may use a cyclic prefix (CP) to provide a guard period at the beginning of a symbol (e.g., an orthogonal frequency division multiplexing (OFDM) symbol) that provides protection against multipath delay spread. For example, a CP may be generated by copying the end of the body of the symbol to the beginning of the symbol such that the frequency domain representation of each delay spread component within a fast Fourier transform (FFT) processing window is the same.
[0067]
[0079] As described herein, in some cases, the UE may use an extended CP (ECP) length for different scenarios (e.g., high delay spread scenarios). For example, ECP may be used to create a gap of a particular duration (e.g., 16 microseconds (μs), 25 μs, etc.) to meet regulatory or specification requirements regarding the gap between base station transmission and UE transmission, and / or to create a listen-before-talk (LBT) gap for the UE prior to its transmission. However, based on using ECP, various issues may arise, such as the UE may have limitations of ECP duration support that are not known by the network, the UE may be expected to transmit an uplink channel at some time that cannot be reached with ECP, or the UE may be expected to transmit and / or multiplex uplink control information (UCI) in the uplink channel where the timeline becomes tighter than with ECP.
[0068]
[0080] As described herein, new UE capabilities may be introduced for the UE to indicate support for ECP and / or the amount of ECP supported (e.g., ECP duration). In some cases, the base station may configure an offset based on these capabilities, or the UE may select an offset from an available set of offsets based on these capabilities. Additionally or alternatively, the UE may receive an uplink grant to transmit an uplink message in symbol N with an indication of ECP, and the UE may determine whether to accept the uplink grant based on a timeline of symbols prior to symbol N, where the timeline is based on a minimum number of symbols (e.g., N2 symbols) required by the UE between the reception of the uplink grant and symbol N, the ECP, and a timing advance (TA). In some cases, the UE may shorten the indicated ECP based on the timeline to transmit both the ECP and the uplink message. Additionally or alternatively, the uplink channel allocation indicated in the uplink grant may include a starting point in the allocation including the ECP, such that the UE transmits the ECP starting at the indicated start of the allocation. In some cases, the ECP and the uplink channel may be in one slot.
[0069]
[0081] Furthermore, the UE may be expected to multiplex uplink control information (UCI) in the uplink channel based on the UE capability of a minimum number of symbols (e.g., Z symbols) required between an event (e.g., a triggering event) that triggers the UCI and when the uplink channel starts. In some cases, the UE may determine which symbols in the uplink channel to multiplex with the UCI based on a timeline (e.g., Z') that is further based on the minimum number of symbols (Z), the ECP, and the TA. Additionally or alternatively, the UE may determine to multiplex the UCI if a triggering event is identified some symbols prior to the start of the uplink channel based on the timeline (Z'). In some cases, the UE may drop one of the uplink channels carrying the uplink message or the uplink channel carrying the UCI based on a priority rule, or may not expect to receive an uplink grant or a triggering event, and processing both at the same time may affect the UE's ability to multiplex the uplink message and the UCI.
[0070]
[0082] Aspects of the present disclosure are initially described in the context of a wireless communication system. Further, aspects of the present disclosure are illustrated through additional wireless communication systems, ECP durations, uplink channel scheduling timelines, uplink channel allocation, UCI multiplexing timelines, and process flows. Aspects of the present disclosure are further illustrated by and described with respect to apparatus diagrams, system diagrams, and flow charts relating to uplink channel timelines with extended cyclic prefixes.
[0071]
[0083] 1 illustrates an example of a wireless communication system 100 supporting an uplink channel timeline with an extended cyclic prefix according to an aspect of the disclosure. The wireless communication system 100 includes a base station 105, a UE 115, and a core network 130. In some examples, the wireless communication system 100 may be a Long Term Evolution (LTE) network, an LTE-Advanced (LTE-A) network, an LTE-A Pro network, or a New Radio (NR) network. In some cases, the wireless communication system 100 may support enhanced broadband communications, ultra-reliable (e.g., mission-critical) communications, low latency communications, or communications with low cost and low complexity devices.
[0072]
[0084] The base station 105 may wirelessly communicate with the UE 115 via one or more base station antennas. The base station 105 described herein may include or may be referred to by one skilled in the art as a base transceiver station, radio base station, access point, radio transceiver, Node B, eNode B (eNB), Next Generation Node B or Giga Node B (any of which may be referred to as gNB), Home Node B, Home eNode B, or some other suitable terminology. The wireless communication system 100 may include different types of base stations 105 (e.g., macro base stations or small cell base stations). The UE 115 described herein may be capable of communicating with various types of base stations 105 and network equipment, including macro eNBs, small cell eNBs, gNBs, relay base stations, etc.
[0073]
[0085] Each base station 105 may be associated with a particular geographic coverage area 110 in which communication with various UEs 115 is supported. Each base station 105 may provide communication coverage to the respective geographic coverage area 110 via a communication link 125, where the communication link 125 between the base station 105 and the UE 115 may utilize one or more carriers. The communication link 125 shown in the wireless communication system 100 may include uplink transmissions from the UE 115 to the base station 105 or downlink transmissions from the base station 105 to the UE 115. Downlink transmissions may also be referred to as forward link transmissions and uplink transmissions may also be referred to as reverse link transmissions.
[0074]
[0086] A geographic coverage area 110 for a base station 105 may be divided into sectors that make up a portion of the geographic coverage area 110, and each sector may be associated with a cell. For example, each base station 105 may provide communication coverage for a macro cell, a small cell, a hot spot, or other type of cell, or various combinations thereof. In some examples, the base station 105 may be mobile and thus provide communication coverage for a moving geographic coverage area 110. In some examples, different geographic coverage areas 110 associated with different technologies may overlap, and overlapping geographic coverage areas 110 associated with different technologies may be supported by the same base station 105 or by different base stations 105. The wireless communication system 100 may include a heterogeneous LTE / LTE-A / LTE-A Pro or NR network, for example, in which different types of base stations 105 provide coverage for various geographic coverage areas 110.
[0075]
[0087] The term "cell" refers to a logical communication entity used for communication with a base station 105 (e.g., on a carrier) and may be associated with an identifier (e.g., physical cell identifier (PCID), virtual cell identifier (VCID)) to distinguish neighboring cells operating over the same or different carriers. In some examples, a carrier may support multiple cells, and different cells may be configured according to different protocol types (e.g., machine type communication (MTC), narrowband Internet of Things (NB-IoT), enhanced mobile broadband (eMBB), etc.) that may provide access to different types of devices. In some cases, the term "cell" may refer to a portion (e.g., a sector) of a geographic coverage area 110 over which a logical entity operates.
[0076]
[0088] The UEs 115 may be distributed throughout the wireless communication system 100, and each UE 115 may be fixed or mobile. The UEs 115 may also be referred to as mobile devices, wireless devices, remote devices, handheld devices, or subscriber devices, or some other suitable terminology, where a "device" may also be referred to as a unit, station, terminal, or client. The UEs 115 may be personal electronic devices, such as a cellular phone, a personal digital assistant (PDA), a tablet computer, a laptop computer, or a personal computer. In some examples, the UEs 115 may also refer to a wireless local loop (WLL) station, an Internet of Things (IoT) device, an Internet of Everything (IoE) device, or an MTC device, which may be implemented in various items, such as an appliance, a vehicle, a meter, or the like.
[0077]
[0089] Some UEs 115, such as MTC or IoT devices, may be low-cost or low-complexity devices and may provide automated communication between machines (e.g., via machine-to-machine (M2M) communication). M2M communication or MTC may refer to data communication technologies that allow devices to communicate with each other or with the base station 105 without human intervention. In some examples, M2M communication or MTC may include communication from devices that incorporate sensors or meters to measure or capture information and relay that information to a central server or application program that can utilize the information or present the information to a human interacting with the program or application. Some UEs 115 may be designed to collect information or enable automated behavior of machines. Examples of applications for MTC devices include smart metering, inventory monitoring, water level monitoring, equipment monitoring, healthcare monitoring, wildlife monitoring, weather and geological event monitoring, fleet management and tracking, remote security sensing, physical access control, and transaction-based business billing.
[0078]
[0090] Some UEs 115 may be configured to employ operating modes that reduce power consumption, such as half-duplex communication (e.g., a mode that supports one-way communication via transmission or reception, rather than simultaneous transmission and reception). In some examples, half-duplex communication may be implemented at a reduced peak rate. Other power conservation techniques for the UE 115 include entering a power-saving "deep sleep" mode when not engaged in active communication, or operating on a limited bandwidth (e.g., pursuant to narrowband communication). In some cases, the UE 115 may be designed to support important functions (e.g., mission-critical functions), and the wireless communication system 100 may be configured to provide ultra-reliable communication for these functions.
[0079]
[0091] In some cases, the UE 115 may also be able to communicate directly with other UEs 115 (e.g., using peer-to-peer (P2P) or device-to-device (D2D) protocols). One or more of the groups of UEs 115 utilizing D2D communication may be within the geographic coverage area 110 of the base station 105. Other UEs 115 in such a group may be outside the geographic coverage area 110 of the base station 105 or may not otherwise be able to receive transmissions from the base station 105. In some cases, a group of UEs 115 communicating via D2D communication may utilize a one-to-many (1:M) system in which each UE 115 transmits to every other UE 115 in the group. In some cases, the base station 105 facilitates scheduling of resources for D2D communication. In other cases, D2D communication occurs between UEs 115 without the involvement of the base station 105.
[0080]
[0092] The base stations 105 may communicate with the core network 130 and with each other. For example, the base stations 105 may interface with the core network 130 through backhaul links 132 (e.g., via an S1, N2, N3, or other interface). The base stations 105 may communicate with each other over backhaul links 134 (e.g., via an X2, Xn, or other interface) either directly (e.g., directly between the base stations 105) or indirectly (e.g., via the core network 130).
[0081]
[0093] The core network 130 may provide user authentication, access authorization, tracking, Internet Protocol (IP) connectivity, and other access, routing, or mobility functions. The core network 130 may be an evolved packet core (EPC) that may include at least one mobility management entity (MME), at least one serving gateway (S-GW), and at least one packet data network (PDN) gateway (P-GW). The MME may manage non-access stratum (e.g., control plane) functions such as mobility, authentication, and bearer management for the UEs 115 served by the base stations 105 associated with the EPC. User IP packets may be forwarded through the S-GW, which itself may be connected to the P-GW. The P-GW may provide IP address allocation as well as other functions. The P-GW may be connected to network operator IP services. The operator IP services may include access to the Internet, intranet(s), IP multimedia subsystem (IMS), or packet-switched (PS) streaming services.
[0082]
[0094] At least some of the network devices, such as the base stations 105, may include subcomponents, such as access network entities, which may be an example of an access node controller (ANC). Each access network entity may communicate with the UE 115 through some other access network transmission entity, which may be referred to as a radio head, a smart radio head, or a transmit / receive point (TRP). In some configurations, various functions of each access network entity or base station 105 may be distributed across various network devices (e.g., radio heads and access network controllers) or integrated into a single network device (e.g., the base station 105).
[0083]
[0095] The wireless communication system 100 may operate using one or more frequency bands, typically ranging from 300 megahertz (MHz) to 300 gigahertz (GHz). Generally, the 300 MHz to 3 GHz region is known as the ultra-high frequency (UHF) region or decimeter band, because the wavelengths range in length from approximately 1 decimeter to 1 meter. UHF waves may be blocked or redirected by buildings and environmental features. However, the waves may penetrate structures sufficiently for a macrocell to provide service to UEs 115 located indoors. Transmission of UHF waves may involve smaller antennas and shorter distances (e.g., less than 100 km) compared to transmissions using smaller frequencies and longer waves in the high frequency (HF) or very high frequency (VHF) portions of the spectrum below 300 MHz.
[0084]
[0096] The wireless communication system 100 may also operate in the very high frequency (SHF) region, also known as the centimeter band, using the frequency band from 3 GHz to 30 GHz. The SHF region includes bands such as the 5 GHz Industrial, Scientific and Medical (ISM) band that may be used opportunistically by devices that may be able to tolerate interference from other users.
[0085]
[0097] The wireless communication system 100 may also operate in the extremely high frequency (EHF) region of the spectrum (e.g., from 30 GHz to 300 GHz), also known as the millimeter band. In some examples, the wireless communication system 100 may support millimeter wave (mmW) communications between the UE 115 and the base station 105, where the EHF antennas of the respective devices may be smaller and more closely spaced than the UHF antennas. In some cases, this may facilitate the use of antenna arrays in the UE 115. However, propagation of EHF transmissions may be subject to greater atmospheric attenuation and shorter distances than SHF or UHF transmissions. The techniques disclosed herein may be employed across transmissions using one or more different frequency regions, and the designated use of bands across these frequency regions may vary by country or regulatory body.
[0086]
[0098] In some cases, the wireless communication system 100 may utilize both licensed and unlicensed radio frequency spectrum bands. For example, the wireless communication system 100 may employ Licensed Assisted Access (LAA), LTE Unlicensed (LTE-U) radio access technology, or NR technology in an unlicensed band, such as the 5 GHz ISM band. When operating in an unlicensed radio frequency spectrum band, wireless devices, such as the base station 105 and the UE 115, may employ Listen Before Talk (LBT) procedures to ensure that the frequency channel is clear before transmitting data. In some cases, operation in the unlicensed band may be based on a carrier aggregation configuration with component carriers operating in a licensed band (e.g., LAA). Operation in the unlicensed spectrum may include downlink transmissions, uplink transmissions, peer-to-peer transmissions, or a combination thereof. Duplexing in the unlicensed spectrum may be based on Frequency Division Duplexing (FDD), Time Division Duplexing (TDD), or a combination of both.
[0087]
[0099] In some examples, the base station 105 or UE 115 may be equipped with multiple antennas, which may be used to employ techniques such as transmit diversity, receive diversity, multiple-input multiple-output (MIMO) communications, or beamforming. For example, the wireless communications system 100 may use a transmission scheme between a transmitting device (e.g., base station 105) and a receiving device (e.g., UE 115), where the transmitting device is equipped with multiple antennas and the receiving device is equipped with one or more antennas. MIMO communications may take advantage of multipath signal propagation to increase spectral efficiency by transmitting or receiving multiple signals via different spatial layers, which may be referred to as spatial multiplexing. The multiple signals may be transmitted by a transmitting device, for example, via different antennas or different combinations of antennas. Similarly, the multiple signals may be received by a receiving device via different antennas or different combinations of antennas. Each of the multiple signals may be referred to as a separate spatial stream and may carry bits related to the same data stream (e.g., the same codeword) or different data streams. The different spatial layers may be associated with different antenna ports used for channel measurements and reporting. MIMO techniques include Single-User MIMO (SU-MIMO), in which multiple spatial layers are transmitted to the same receiving device, and Multi-User MIMO (MU-MIMO), in which multiple spatial layers are transmitted to multiple devices.
[0088]
[0100] Beamforming, sometimes referred to as spatial filtering, directional transmission, or directional reception, is a signal processing technique that may be used in a transmitting or receiving device (e.g., base station 105 or UE 115) to shape or steer an antenna beam (e.g., a transmit beam or a receive beam) along a spatial path between the transmitting device and the receiving device. Beamforming may be achieved by combining signals communicated through antenna elements of an antenna array such that signals propagating in a particular orientation relative to the antenna array experience constructive interference and others experience destructive interference. Adjustment of signals communicated through antenna elements may include the transmitting or receiving device applying a particular amplitude and phase offset to signals carried through each of the antenna elements associated with the device. The adjustment associated with each of the antenna elements may be defined by a beamforming weight set associated with a particular orientation (e.g., relative to the antenna array of the transmitting or receiving device or to some other orientation).
[0089]
[0101] In one example, the base station 105 may use multiple antennas or antenna arrays to perform beamforming operations for directional communication with the UE 115. For example, some signals (e.g., synchronization signals, reference signals, beam selection signals, or other control signals) may be transmitted by the base station 105 multiple times in different directions, including signals being transmitted according to different beamforming weight sets associated with different directions of transmission. The transmissions in different beam directions may be used (e.g., by the base station 105 or a receiving device such as the UE 115) to identify a beam direction for subsequent transmission and / or reception by the base station 105.
[0090]
[0102] Some signals, such as data signals associated with a particular receiving device, may be transmitted by the base station 105 in a single beam direction (e.g., a direction associated with a receiving device, such as the UE 115). In some examples, the beam direction associated with a transmission along the single beam direction may be determined based at least in part on signals transmitted in various beam directions. For example, the UE 115 may receive one or more of the signals transmitted by the base station 105 in various directions, and the UE 115 may report to the base station 105 an indication of the signal it received with the best signal quality or an otherwise acceptable signal quality. Although these techniques have been described with respect to signals transmitted by the base station 105 in one or more directions, the UE 115 may employ similar techniques to transmit a signal multiple times in various directions (e.g., to identify a beam direction for subsequent transmission or reception by the UE 115) or to transmit a signal in a single direction (e.g., to transmit data to a receiving device).
[0091]
[0103] A receiving device (e.g., UE 115, which may be an example of a mmW receiving device) may attempt multiple receive beams when receiving various signals from the base station 105, such as a synchronization signal, a reference signal, a beam selection signal, or other control signals. For example, the receiving device may attempt multiple receive directions, any of which may be referred to as "listening" according to different receive beams or receive directions, by receiving via different antenna subarrays, by processing the received signals according to different antenna subarrays, by receiving according to different receive beamforming weight sets applied to signals received at a set of antenna elements of an antenna array, or by processing the received signals according to different receive beamforming weight sets applied to signals received at a set of antenna elements of an antenna array. In some examples, the receiving device may use a single receive beam to receive along a single beam direction (e.g., when receiving a data signal). The single receive beam may be aligned to a beam direction determined based on listening according to various receive beam directions (e.g., a beam direction determined to have the highest signal strength, highest signal-to-noise ratio, or otherwise acceptable signal quality based on listening according to multiple beam directions).
[0092]
[0104] In some cases, the antennas of the base station 105 or the UE 115 may be located in one or more antenna arrays that may support MIMO operations or transmit or receive beamforming. For example, one or more base station antennas or antenna arrays may be co-located in an antenna assembly such as an antenna tower. In some cases, antennas or antenna arrays associated with the base station 105 may be located in various geographic locations. The base station 105 may have an antenna array with several rows and columns of antenna ports that the base station 105 may use to support beamforming of communications with the UE 115. Similarly, the UE 115 may have one or more antenna arrays that may support various MIMO or beamforming operations.
[0093]
[0105] In some cases, the wireless communication system 100 may be a packet-based network that operates according to a layered protocol stack. In the user plane, communication at the bearer or packet data convergence protocol (PDCP) layer may be IP-based. The radio link control (RLC) layer may perform packet segmentation and reassembly to communicate over logical channels. The medium access control (MAC) layer may perform priority handling and multiplexing of logical channels into transport channels. The MAC layer may also use hybrid automatic repeat request (HARQ) to perform retransmissions at the MAC layer to improve link efficiency. In the control plane, the radio resource control (RRC) protocol layer may establish, configure, and maintain an RRC connection between the UE 115 and the base station 105 or core network 130, which supports radio bearers for user plane data. In the physical layer, transport channels may be mapped to physical channels.
[0094]
[0106] In some cases, the UE 115 and the base station 105 may support retransmission of data to increase the likelihood that the data is successfully received. HARQ feedback is one technique that increases the likelihood that the data is correctly received over the communication link 125. HARQ may include a combination of error detection (e.g., using a cyclic redundancy check (CRC)), forward error correction (FEC), and retransmission (e.g., automatic repeat request (ARQ)). HARQ may improve throughput at the MAC layer in poor radio conditions (e.g., signal-to-noise conditions). In some cases, a wireless device may support same-slot HARQ feedback, in which the device may provide HARQ feedback in a particular slot for data received in a previous symbol in the slot. In other cases, the device may provide HARQ feedback in a subsequent slot or according to some other time interval.
[0095]
[0107] A time interval in LTE or NR is, for example, T s The communication resource time intervals may be organized according to radio frames, each having a duration of 10 milliseconds (ms), where the frame period is T f =307,200T s A radio frame may be identified by a system frame number (SFN) ranging from 0 to 1023. Each frame may include 10 subframes numbered from 0 to 9, each subframe may have a duration of 1 ms. A subframe may be further divided into two slots, each having a duration of 0.5 ms, each of which may contain six or seven modulation symbol periods (e.g., depending on the length of a cyclic prefix prepended to each symbol period). Excluding the cyclic prefix, each symbol period may contain 2048 sampling periods. In some cases, a subframe may be the smallest scheduling unit of the wireless communication system 100 and may be referred to as a transmission time interval (TTI). In other cases, the smallest scheduling unit of the wireless communication system 100 may be shorter than a subframe or may be dynamically selected (e.g., in a burst of shortened TTI (sTTI) or in a selected component carrier using sTTI).
[0096]
[0108] In some wireless communication systems, a slot may be further divided into multiple minislots containing one or more symbols. In some instances, a minislot's symbol or minislot may be the smallest unit of scheduling. Each symbol may vary in duration depending, for example, on the subcarrier spacing or frequency band of operation. Additionally, some wireless communication systems may implement slot aggregation, in which multiple slots or minislots are aggregated together and used for communication between the UE 115 and the base station 105.
[0097]
[0109] The term "carrier" refers to a set of radio frequency spectrum resources having a defined physical layer structure to support communications over the communication link 125. For example, a carrier of the communication link 125 may include a portion of a radio frequency spectrum band operated according to a physical layer channel for a given radio access technology. Each physical layer channel may carry user data, control information, or other signaling. A carrier may be associated with a predefined frequency channel (e.g., an Evolved Universal Mobile Telecommunications System Terrestrial Radio Access (E-UTRA) Absolute Radio Frequency Channel Number (EARFCN)) and may be arranged according to a channel raster for discovery by the UE 115. A carrier may be downlink or uplink (e.g., in FDD mode) or may be configured to carry downlink and uplink communications (e.g., in TDD mode). In some examples, a signal waveform transmitted on a carrier may be composed of multiple subcarriers (e.g., using a multi-carrier modulation (MCM) technique such as orthogonal frequency division multiplexing (OFDM) or discrete Fourier transform extended OFDM (DFT-S-OFDM)).
[0098]
[0110] The organizational structure of carriers may vary for different radio access technologies (e.g., LTE, LTE-A, LTE-A Pro, NR). For example, communications over carriers may be organized according to TTIs or slots, each of which may include user data as well as control information or signaling to support decoding the user data. A carrier may also include dedicated acquisition signaling (e.g., synchronization signals or system information, etc.) and control signaling that coordinates operations for the carrier. In some examples (e.g., in a carrier aggregation configuration), a carrier may also have acquisition signaling or control signaling that coordinates operations for other carriers.
[0099]
[0111] The physical channels may be multiplexed on the carriers according to various techniques. The physical control channels and the physical data channels may be multiplexed on the downlink carriers, for example, using time division multiplexing (TDM), frequency division multiplexing (FDM), or hybrid TDM-FDM techniques. In some examples, the control information transmitted in the physical control channel may be distributed among different control regions in a cascaded manner (e.g., between a common control region or common search space and one or more UE-specific control regions or UE-specific search spaces).
[0100]
[0112] A carrier may be associated with a particular bandwidth of the radio frequency spectrum, and in some examples, the carrier bandwidth may be referred to as the carrier or the “system bandwidth” of the wireless communication system 100. For example, the carrier bandwidth may be one of several predefined bandwidths (e.g., 1.4, 3, 5, 10, 15, 20, 40, or 80 MHz) for a carrier of a particular radio access technology. In some examples, each served UE 115 may be configured for operation over a portion or all of the carrier bandwidth. In other examples, some UEs 115 may be configured for operation using a narrowband protocol type associated with a predefined portion or range (e.g., a set of subcarriers or RBs) within the carrier (e.g., an “in-band” deployment of a narrowband protocol type).
[0101]
[0113] In a system employing MCM techniques, a resource element may consist of one symbol period (e.g., the duration of one modulation symbol) and one subcarrier, where the symbol period and the subcarrier spacing are inversely related. The number of bits carried by each resource element may depend on the modulation scheme (e.g., the order of the modulation scheme). Thus, the more resource elements the UE 115 receives and the higher the order of the modulation scheme, the higher the data rate for the UE 115 may be. In a MIMO system, wireless communication resources may refer to a combination of radio frequency spectrum resources, time resources, and spatial resources (e.g., spatial layers), and the use of multiple spatial layers may further increase the data rate for communication with the UE 115.
[0102]
[0114] A device (e.g., a base station 105 or a UE 115) of the wireless communication system 100 may have a hardware configuration that supports communication over a particular carrier bandwidth or may be configurable to support communication over one of a set of carrier bandwidths. In some examples, the wireless communication system 100 may include a base station 105 and / or a UE 115 that supports simultaneous communication over carriers associated with two or more different carrier bandwidths.
[0103]
[0115] The wireless communications system 100 may support communication with the UE 115 over multiple cells or carriers, a feature sometimes referred to as carrier aggregation or multi-carrier operation. The UE 115 may be configured with multiple downlink component carriers and one or more uplink component carriers according to a carrier aggregation configuration. Carrier aggregation may be used with both FDD and TDD component carriers.
[0104]
[0116] In some cases, the wireless communication system 100 may utilize an enhanced component carrier (eCC). An eCC may be characterized by one or more features including a wider carrier or frequency channel bandwidth, a shorter symbol duration, a shorter TTI duration, or a modified control channel configuration. In some cases, an eCC may be associated with a carrier aggregation configuration or a dual connectivity configuration (e.g., when multiple serving cells have suboptimal or non-ideal backhaul links). An eCC may also be configured for use in unlicensed or shared spectrum (e.g., when more than one operator is authorized to use the spectrum). An eCC characterized by a wide carrier bandwidth may include one or more segments that may be used by a UE 115 that is not capable of monitoring the entire carrier bandwidth or is otherwise configured to use a limited carrier bandwidth (e.g., to conserve power).
[0105]
[0117] In some cases, an eCC may utilize a different symbol duration than other component carriers, which may include the use of a reduced symbol duration compared to the symbol duration of other component carriers. The shorter symbol duration may be associated with an increased spacing between adjacent subcarriers. A device such as a UE 115 or base station 105 utilizing an eCC may transmit a wideband signal (e.g., according to a frequency channel or carrier bandwidth of 20, 40, 60, 80 MHz, etc.) at a reduced symbol duration (e.g., 16.67 microseconds). A TTI in an eCC may consist of one or more symbol periods. In some cases, the TTI duration (i.e., the number of symbol periods in a TTI) may be variable.
[0106]
[0118] The wireless communication system 100 may be, among other things, an NR system that may utilize any combination of licensed, shared, and unlicensed spectrum bands. Flexibility in eCC symbol duration and subcarrier spacing may enable the use of eCC across multiple spectrums. In some examples, NR shared spectrum may increase spectrum utilization and spectral efficiency, particularly through dynamic vertical (e.g., across the frequency domain) and horizontal (e.g., across the time domain) sharing of resources.
[0107]
[0119] Additionally, as described herein, the wireless communication system 100 may use a CP to provide a guard period at the beginning of each OFDMA symbol that provides protection against multipath delay spread. The CP may be generated by copying the end of the body of the OFDMA symbol to the beginning of the OFDMA symbol such that the frequency domain representation of each delay spread component within the FFT processing window is the same. The length of both the normal CP (NCP) and the ECP may be specified in the system. In some cases, the NCP may be intended to be sufficient in the majority of scenarios, and the ECP may be intended for scenarios with relatively high delay spread.
[0108]
[0120] In some wireless communication systems (e.g., NR Unlicensed (NR-U) communications), ECP may be used to create a gap of a particular duration (16 μs, 25 μs, etc.) to meet, for example, regulatory or specification requirements regarding the gap between the base station 105 transmission and the UE 115 transmission, and / or to create a listen-before-talk (LBT) gap for the UE 115 prior to its transmission. For example, the UE 115 may transmit an ECP of a first allocated physical uplink shared channel (PUSCH) symbol (e.g., an uplink channel symbol, a first symbol of one or more symbols of an uplink channel, an OFDMA symbol, etc.). For a scheduled PUSCH (e.g., for a scheduled uplink (SUL)), the amount of ECP (e.g., ECP duration) may be indicated in the uplink grant for the scheduled PUSCH. In some cases, the amount of ECP may also depend on the TA at the UE 115 (e.g., of which the base station 105 may not be aware).
[0109]
[0121] Additionally or alternatively, for configured granted PUSCH (CG-PUSCH) (e.g., for resource overload), the UE 115 may be provided with a specific starting offset or a set of starting offsets (e.g., the UE 115 randomly chooses which starting offset to use) that provide a starting point before the normal PUSCH data / pilot starting symbol. In some cases, the ECP of the first symbol may be used to transmit between the starting point offset and the first symbol of the PUSCH. Thus, multiple UEs 115 transmitting from time to time (e.g., based on their respective configured grants) may be assigned the same resource. For example, collisions when two UEs 115 attempt to transmit on the same resource may be avoided by two UEs 115 having different starting offsets (e.g., in combination with an LBT procedure). In some cases, a UE 115 with an earlier starting point to start transmitting may cause the LBT of a UE 115 with a later starting point to fail, and thus collisions may be reduced.
[0110]
[0122] In some cases, at least for an ECP prior to a dynamically scheduled PUSCH transmission, the ECP may be located in one or more symbols immediately preceding the PUSCH allocation (e.g., as indicated by a start and length indicator value (SLIV)). The supported duration for ECP in the UE 115 may be 0 (e.g., no extension to CP supported), C1*symbol length-25 μs, C2*symbol length-16 μs-TA, or C3*symbol length-25 μs-TA. Thus, C1 may be equal to 1 for 15 kHz subcarrier spacing (SCS) and 30 kHz SCS, or equal to 2 for 60 kHz SCS. Additionally, C2 and / or C3 may be fixed constants or may be implicitly derived based on the TA of each SCS. In some cases, the timeline indicating the minimum number of symbols between the uplink grant and the indicated PUSCH (e.g., N2 timeline, N2 symbols, uplink grant to physical uplink control channel (PUCCH) delay, etc.) may be relaxed to take ECP into account. In some cases, the limit limiting the resulting ECP may be one symbol or less for a given SCS or may be relaxed (e.g., more than one symbol). Additionally, the ECP may be used for other uplink transmissions. In some cases, the number of ECP durations that the UE 115 may use may be dynamically signaled or configured.
[0111]
[0123] However, based on using ECP, various issues may arise, such as the UE 115 may have ECP duration support limitations that are not known by the network (e.g., base station 105), the UE 115 may be expected to transmit an uplink channel at a time that cannot be reached with ECP, and / or the UE 115 may be expected to transmit and / or multiplex UCI in an uplink channel where the timeline becomes tighter with ECP.
[0112]
[0124] The wireless communication system 100 may support efficient techniques for using ECP. For example, a new UE capability may be introduced for the UE 115 to indicate support for ECP, where the duration of the ECP or the decision to transmit the ECP is based on the UE capability. Additionally or alternatively, the UE 115 may receive an uplink grant to transmit an uplink message in symbol N with an indication of ECP, and the UE 115 may determine whether to accept the uplink grant based on a timeline of symbols prior to symbol N, where the timeline is based on a minimum number of symbols (e.g., N2 symbols) required by the UE 115 between the receipt of the uplink grant and symbol N, the ECP, and the TA. Additionally or alternatively, the uplink channel allocation indicated in the uplink grant may include a starting point in the allocation including the ECP, such that the UE 115 transmits the ECP starting at the indicated start of the allocation. In some cases, UE 115 may multiplex UCI in the uplink channel based on a timeline (e.g., Z') that is further based on the minimum number of symbols (Z) required between receiving a triggering event for UCI and the start of the uplink channel, ECP, and TA for transmitting UCI.
[0113]
[0125] 2 illustrates an example of a wireless communication system 200 supporting an uplink channel timeline with an extended cyclic prefix in accordance with aspects of the disclosure. In some examples, the wireless communication system 200 may implement aspects of the wireless communication system 100. The wireless communication system 200 may include a base station 105-a and a UE 115-a, which may be examples of corresponding base stations 105 and UEs 115, respectively, described above with reference to FIG. 1. In some cases, the base station 105-a and the UE 115-a may communicate over resources of a carrier 205. Additionally, the carrier 205 may include resources in an unlicensed band (e.g., NR-U communications).
[0114]
[0126] As described herein, the UE 115-a may transmit an indication of ECP capability 210 (e.g., UE capability to support ECP) to the base station 105-a. For example, the UE 115-a may have a limitation on how much ECP the UE 115-a can support and may indicate this limitation in the ECP capability 210. Thus, the ECP capability 210 may include the UE capability of the amount of ECP supported (e.g., ECP duration). For example, the amount of ECP supported may be in absolute time units (e.g., seconds), a number of symbols, (e.g., one symbol, two symbols, etc.), or a combination thereof. Furthermore, the capability of the amount of ECP supported may be different for different SCSs (e.g., the same duration in time but different number of OFDM symbols for different SCSs) or may be the same for all SCSs. For example, the amount of ECP supported may be one symbol for any SCS, or one symbol for a 15 kHz SCS, two symbols for a 30 kHz SCS, etc.
[0115]
[0127] Additionally or alternatively, the base station 105-a may configure (e.g., via RRC signaling) a set of offsets that are within the limits indicated by the ECP capabilities 210. For example, the base station 105-a may configure a set of offsets that are below the ECP duration limit indicated by the ECP capabilities 210 (e.g., UE capabilities), and the UE 115-a may use the offset or one of the indicated offsets when transmitting the ECP and subsequent uplink signals. In some cases, the set of offsets may be configured or available to the UE 115-a (e.g., via RRC signaling from the base station 105-a) without taking the ECP capabilities 210 into account, and the UE 115-a may select an ECP duration from a subset of the set of offsets, where this subset is also within the ECP capabilities 210. For example, the complete set of available offsets may be 0, 9, 18, ..., 72 μs (e.g., in increments of 9 μs up to 72 μs), but the UE 115-a may randomly choose from 0 to 36 μs based on the ECP capabilities 210, which include a limit of ECP duration of 36 μs.
[0116]
[0128] 2, after the ECP capabilities are transmitted to the base station 105-a, the base station 105-a and the UE 115-a may subsequently communicate over resources of the carrier 205 based on the ECP 230 included when the UE 115-a transmits to the base station 105-a. For example, the base station 105-a may transmit one or more downlink signals 215 to the UE 115-a. In some cases, the downlink signals 215 may include an uplink grant 220 indicating that the UE 115-a will transmit at least one uplink signal 235. However, prior to transmitting the one or more uplink signals 235, the UE 115-a may perform an LBT 225 (e.g., an LBT procedure, a clear channel assessment (CCA), etc.) based on communicating with the base station 105-a in an unlicensed band (e.g., an unlicensed frequency band, NR-U, etc.). For example, the LBT 225 may include the UE 115-a listening to the uplink resources indicated by the uplink grant 220 to transmit one or more uplink signals 235 to determine whether the channel is clear before attempting to transmit on the uplink resources. Thus, if the UE 115-a detects a signal (e.g., above a threshold power value, as an example) on the uplink resources during the LBT 225, the UE 115-a may refrain from transmitting the uplink signal 235. Alternatively, if the UE 115-a does not detect a signal, the UE 115-a may proceed to transmit the uplink signal 235.
[0117]
[0129] However, after determining that the LBT 225 is successful (e.g., resources are available / clear), and prior to transmitting the uplink signal 235, the UE 115-a may first transmit the ECP 230 based on having previously transmitted the ECP capabilities 210. Thereafter, after transmitting the ECP 230, the UE 115-a may then transmit the uplink signal 235 as indicated by the uplink grant 220.
[0118]
[0130] Each of the downlink signal 215, the LBT 225, the ECP 230, and the uplink signal 235 may have a corresponding duration. For example, the downlink signal 215 and the uplink signal 235 may have a duration 240 and a duration 255, respectively, that are divided into slots that include multiple symbols, where the length of the symbols depends on the SCS, the type of slot (e.g., minislot, conventional slot, etc.), etc. In some cases, the length of the symbols in a slot may be T s Based on transmitting the ECP 230, the number of symbols in a slot for duration 240 or duration 255 may be 12 symbols. Furthermore, the LBT 225 may have a duration 245 (e.g., 16 μs, 25 μs, etc.) based on the type of LBT implemented. The duration 250 of the ECP 230 may then be defined as the length of the symbols in the slot minus the duration 245 (e.g., the length of the LBT 225). For example, for an LBT duration of 25 μs, the duration 250 may be equal to Ts-25 μs.
[0119]
[0131] In some cases, the UE 115-a may use a timing advance TA 260 when transmitting the uplink signal 235. For example, the UE 115-a and the base station 105-a may experience a propagation delay in the communication (e.g., uplink and downlink transmissions) between them. Thus, an uplink grant 220 may be transmitted by the base station 105-a to grant the UE 115-a access to resources for the uplink signal 235. The UE 115-a may then utilize the granted resources but apply a time advance such that the uplink signal arrives at the base station 105-a at the expected time. The time advance (e.g., TA 260) may be indicated in a TA command sent by the base station 105-a to the UE 115-a. Thus, to ensure the same uplink receive timing at the base station 105-a (e.g., to align the arrival times of multiple uplink transmissions to different base stations 105, for example), the TA 260 may indicate a time advance (or negative delay) of the uplink signal 235 relative to the received downlink timing (e.g., the uplink grant 220 in the downlink signal 215). Thus, when transmitting the TA 260, the duration 250 of the ECP 230 may be affected. For example, the duration 250 may be equal to Ts-25 μs-TA.
[0120]
[0132] Additionally, in some cases, the UE 115-a may have buffer limitations that affect transmitting the ECP 230 and the uplink signal 235. For example, the UE 115-a may have buffer limitations regarding the data length for the transmission of a given grant. As an example, if the UE 115-a is limited to holding one slot of data for the uplink signal 235 and the uplink grant 220 indicates an allocation of one slot, when the UE 115-a transmits the ECP 230, the length of the uplink signal 235 + the ECP 230 may exceed the one slot limit.
[0121]
[0133] Thus, the length (e.g., duration 255) of the uplink signal 235 indicated by the uplink grant 220 including the ECP 230 (e.g., duration 250) may be limited to a maximum of one or two slots or may be a configured UE capability. That is, duration 250+duration 255 may not exceed one or two slots. For example, when the ECP 230 is allowed to be transmitted, the length of the PUSCH indicated in the uplink grant 220 may be appropriately reduced based on the UE capability (e.g., limitations for carrying data) such that the total duration of the uplink signal 235 and the ECP 230 does not exceed the UE capability. Additionally or alternatively, the start of the combined ECP 230 and uplink signal 235 (e.g., ECP+PUSCH) may not cross a slot boundary. Additionally, the end of the uplink signal 235 (eg, PUSCH) may not cross a slot boundary and / or the combination of the ECP 230 and the uplink signal 235 (eg, ECP+PUSCH) may be within a slot.
[0122]
[0134] In some cases, the UE 115-a may determine whether to transmit the ECP 230 and the uplink signal 235 based on information included in the uplink grant 220. For example, the uplink grant 220 may include an indication of the ECP 230 (e.g., duration 250 of the ECP 230, an indication to transmit the ECP 230, etc.). Thus, the UE 115-a may determine whether to transmit the uplink signal 235 (and the ECP 230) based on when the uplink grant 220 is received prior to an indicated start of the uplink signal 235, transmitting the ECP 230, performing the LBT 225, etc. In some cases, the uplink grant 220 may include an indication of an allocation of uplink resources for the UE 115-a to transmit both the ECP 230 and the uplink signal 235. For example, the UE 115-a may transmit an ECP 230 beginning with an indication of an allocation of uplink resources followed by an uplink signal 235.
[0123]
[0135] 3 illustrates an example of an ECP duration 300 supporting an uplink channel timeline with an extended cyclic prefix in accordance with an aspect of the disclosure. In some examples, the ECP duration 300 may implement aspects of the wireless communication systems 100 and / or 200. The UE 115 may use the ECP duration 300 when transmitting an ECP 310 prior to transmitting an uplink signal in a slot 305 to the base station 105.
[0124]
[0136] Conventionally, a start time offset may be applied by the UE 115 at the beginning of a transmitted burst, where the configured grant (CG) resource is at the beginning of the transmission burst. For example, as shown, the ECP 310 may be added before a slot 305 configured to carry an uplink signal from the UE 115 to the base station 105. In some cases, this start time offset may be RRC configured and defined as the length of the ECP 310 of the first symbol located before the configured resource (e.g., slot 305). Regardless of the SCS, the duration of the ECP 310 may be up to 72 μs with a granularity of 9 μs.
[0125]
[0137] In some cases, multiple UEs 115 may be allowed to transmit on the same slot 305, and each UE 115 may choose a different starting offset in the ECP 310. Since the UEs 115 may need to perform LBT before transmitting, UEs 115 that started earlier will block later UEs. Thus, the CG-PUSCH resource may be overbooked (e.g., not all UEs 115 will want to use the resource at a given time). Problems may occur for the CG-PUSCH because the ECP 310 is transmitted before the configured resource (e.g., slot 305). For example, the timeline for multiplexing UCI with the CG-PUSCH may be affected by the ECP 310, and / or the UE capability for the length of the ECP 310 that can be supported may need to be indicated. Thus, the techniques described herein may mitigate these problems.
[0126]
[0138] 4 illustrates an example of an uplink channel scheduling timeline 400 supporting an uplink channel timeline with an extended cyclic prefix in accordance with aspects of the disclosure. In some examples, the uplink channel scheduling timeline 400 may implement aspects of the wireless communications systems 100 and / or 200. As described herein, the UE 115 may use the uplink channel scheduling timeline 400 when transmitting an uplink signal with an ECP 415 to the base station 105. In some cases, the UE 115 may use the uplink channel scheduling timeline 400 for SUL transmissions.
[0127]
[0139] Conventionally, for a PUSCH scheduling timeline, without ECP 415, UE 115 may be expected to transmit a PUSCH at symbol N if an uplink grant was received (e.g., given) at least N2 symbols earlier, where N2 depends on UE capabilities. However, if UE 115 transmits ECP 415, UE 115 may not be able to meet the same timeline of N2 symbols. Furthermore, N2 capabilities may not take into account TA 430.
[0128]
[0140] Therefore, to alleviate this problem, the UE 115 may receive an uplink grant 405 (e.g., having a duration of symbol M) that includes an indication of an ECP 415, where the uplink grant 405 indicates that the UE 115 will transmit an uplink signal 420 starting at symbol N (e.g., a starting point without considering the ECP 415). For example, the indication of the ECP 415 may include an indication of the duration 425 of the ECP 415 (e.g., the duration 425 of the ECP 415 may be equal to 0.5 symbols, 1 symbol-25 μs, 2 symbols-TA-25 μs..., etc. Further, the duration 425 of the ECP 415 may be a fractional number of symbols. In some cases, the UE 115 may also perform the LBT 410 prior to transmitting the ECP 415 and the uplink signal 420. Further, in some cases, the UE 115 may use the TA 430 when transmitting the uplink signal 420. The uplink signal 420 may include a duration Ts (e.g., the length of a symbol in a slot).
[0129]
[0141] The UE 115 may then determine to accept the uplink grant 405 (e.g., transmit the uplink signal 420 and the ECP 415 as indicated in the uplink grant 405) if the uplink grant 405 was received at least some symbols prior to symbol N. In some cases, this number of symbols may be the timeline 435 capability of the UE 115 given by f(N2,ECP,TA). For example, f(N2,ECP,TA)=N2+ECP or f(N2,ECP,TA)=N2+ceil(ECP) or f(N2,ECP,TA)=N2+ECP+TA or f(N2,ECP,TA)=N2+ceil(ECP+TA) or f(N2,ECP,TA)=N2+ceil(max(ECP+TA)) or f(N2,ECP,TA)=N2+ceil(ECP). The maximum value may be for all possible values of ECP and / or TA (e.g., multiple ECPs or CG-PUSCH starting offsets may be preconfigured for the UE to choose, and the maximum value may be for all these ECPs). In some cases, the various ceil(x) parameters may represent a ceiling function that takes a real input calculated by x (e.g., a decimal number in some cases) and outputs an integer equal to or greater than this real input (e.g., the ceiling function rounds up a real number to the highest integer of the real input, e.g., 2.4 becomes 3, or 2.8 also becomes 3). In some cases, f(N2,ECP,TA) may be RRC preconfigured (e.g., semi-statically configured). For example, the RRC preconfiguration may indicate f(N2,ECP,TA)=N2+2, where 2 (e.g., from N2+2) is the maximum possible TA+ECP, independent of the uplink grant 405 / ECP 415 / TA 430.
[0130]
[0142] Additionally or alternatively, the UE 115 may decide to accept the uplink grant 405 even if the uplink grant 405 was received earlier between N2 and N2+f(N2,ECP,TA), but may transmit the ECP 415 for a reduced duration (e.g., with respect to the indicated duration 425 in the uplink grant 405) depending on when the uplink grant 405 was received. For example, if the uplink grant 405 was received N2+TA+ECP / 2 earlier than symbol N, the UE 115 may transmit the ECP 415 for a duration of ECP / 2 (e.g., half the duration 425 indicated in the uplink grant 405). When reducing the duration of the ECP 415 to fit the timeline 435, if an additional gap is created before the ECP 415, the UE 115 may change the LBT type of the LBT 410 to satisfy the channel access restrictions. For example, when the UE 115 is configured for no LBT (e.g., not implementing LBT 410) or for a 16 μs gap in LBT 410 and an additional gap is created with a reduced ECP 415, the UE 115 may decide to implement a 25 μs LBT (e.g., cat2 LBT) before transmitting the ECP 415 and the uplink signal 420.
[0131]
[0143] 5A and 5B illustrate examples of uplink channel allocations 500 and 501 supporting an uplink channel timeline with an extended cyclic prefix according to aspects of the disclosure. In some examples, the uplink channel allocations 500 and 501 may implement aspects of the wireless communication systems 100 and / or 200. As described herein, the UE 115 may use the uplink channel allocations 500 and 501 when transmitting an uplink signal with an ECP 515 to the base station 105. Additionally, the uplink channel allocations 500 and 501 may be used to mitigate the PUSCH scheduling timeline issue described above with respect to FIG. 4. For example, the uplink channel allocations 500 and 501 may represent a starting point for a PUSCH allocation / allocation that includes the ECP 515.
[0132]
[0144] As shown, the base station 105 may transmit an uplink grant 505 including a PUSCH allocation consisting of a full UE transmission including the duration of the ECP 515. That is, the UE 115 may transmit the ECP 515 (e.g., for the uplink signal 520 of the next symbol) beginning at the indicated start of the allocation. Additionally, the UE 115 may transmit the ECP 515 after performing the LBT 510 or applying the TA 525. In some cases, the LBT 510 (e.g., LBT measurement) may be performed during a window T_lbt (e.g., T_lbt=16 μs, 25 μs, cat4 duration, etc., when applicable) before the start of transmitting the ECP 515 and the uplink signal 520. For example, as shown in the uplink channel allocation 500, the PUSCH allocation may indicate the start of the PUSCH allocation as symbol K+25 μs, where the 25 μs is the duration of the LBT 510. Thus, the UE 115 may transmit an ECP 515 for the uplink signal 520 of symbol K+1 in the first partial symbol K (eg, from symbol K+25 μs, which is less than the length (Ts) of symbol K).
[0133]
[0145] Additionally or alternatively, as shown in uplink channel allocation 501, the PUSCH allocation may indicate the start of the allocation as symbol K+25 μs+TA. Thus, if the total duration 530 of LBT 510 and TA 525 is greater than the length of symbol K (e.g., 25 μs+TA>T s , where T s represents one symbol duration), the UE 115 may transmit an ECP 515 for the uplink signal 520 in symbol K+2 (e.g., the duration 535 of the ECP 515 is 2T s-TA-25 μs). That is, ECP 515 may fill the gap between the end of LBT 510 and TA 525 (e.g., if TA 525 is used) and the next occurring symbol boundary for transmission of uplink signal 520, where ECP 515 ends at the previous symbol boundary of uplink signal 520.
[0134]
[0146] Additionally or alternatively, the PUSCH allocation indicates the LBT type of the LBT 510, the start of the allocation (e.g., symbol K), and TA delay enable / disable. The UE 115 may then determine from the above information the start of the transmission of the ECP 515 followed by the uplink signal 520. For example, the transmission may start at T_lbt or T_lbt+TA after the start of symbol K, where T_lbt may be 0 μs, 16 μs, 25 μs, etc., depending on the indicated LBT type. The UE 115 may then transmit the ECP 515 until the next symbol boundary. Thus, the UE 115 may determine the LBT type of the LBT 510 based on the T_lbt, TA, and T s For example, the duration of ECP 515 may be determined (e.g., automatically) from T_lbt+TA <T s In this case, the duration 535 of ECP 515 is T s -T_lbt-TA, but not T s <T_lbt+TA<2T s In this case, the duration of ECP515535 is 2T s -T_lbt+TA, etc. Thus, a full symbol for transmitting the uplink signal 520 may start at the next symbol boundary after symbol K+T_lbt+[TA], where [TA] represents that the addition of TA 525 is optional. The actual start of the full symbol for the uplink signal 520 may thus be symbol K, symbol K+1, symbol K+2, ..., symbol K+N, depending on whether the uplink signal 520 should be delayed by ECP 515 and / or TA 525 after symbol K.
[0135]
[0147] In some cases, a transport block (TB) may be rate-matched to the number of full symbols in the transmitted allocation for the uplink signal 520 after the ECP 515. Additionally, the PUSCH scheduling timeline UE capabilities described above with reference to FIG. 4 may be the same for the UE 115 in the uplink channel allocations 500 and 501. That is, the UE 115 may accept an uplink grant 505 to transmit in symbol N if the uplink grant 505 is received at least N2 or N2+TA symbols prior to symbol N, where N2 depends on the UE capabilities.
[0136]
[0148] 6A and 6B illustrate examples of UCI multiplexing timelines 600 and 601 supporting uplink channel timelines with extended cyclic prefixes according to aspects of the disclosure. In some examples, the UCI multiplexing timelines 600 and 601 may implement aspects of the wireless communication systems 100 and / or 200. As described herein, the UE 115 may use the UCI multiplexing timelines 600 and 601 when transmitting an uplink signal with an ECP 615 to the base station 105 and when UCI needs to be multiplexed with at least a portion of the uplink signal. In some cases, the UE 115 may use the UCI multiplexing timelines 600 and 601 for both SUL and CG uplink (CG-UL) scenarios. Furthermore, the UE 115 may perform the LBT 610 prior to transmitting the ECP 615, the uplink signal 620, and the multiplexed UCI 635 based on communicating in an unlicensed band as described herein.
[0137]
[0149] Conventionally, the UE 115 may receive a PUSCH (e.g., of duration T sIn the uplink signal 620 having the UCI 635, Z may be expected to be multiplexed in the uplink signal 620 having the UCI 635, in which case the event trigger 605 required for the UCI 635 occurs at least Z symbols earlier than the PUSCH occurs (e.g., slot N). If the UCI 635 includes an acknowledgement (ACK) / negative ACK (NACK) feedback for a downlink shared channel (e.g., physical downlink shared channel (PDSCH)) transmission, Z may be the time from the end of the downlink shared channel to the PUSCH (e.g., the PUSCH into which the UCI 635 is multiplexed). Additionally or alternatively, if the UCI 635 includes channel state information (CSI) to be multiplexed in the PUSCH, Z may be the time from a downlink control channel (e.g., physical downlink control channel (PDCCH)) trigger for CSI measurement to the start of the PUSCH, or Z may be the time from a downlink CSI reference signal (CSI-RS) transmission to the start of the PUSCH. In some cases, the UE capabilities for Z may differ for different UCI types and / or triggering events. However, along with the ECP 615 and corresponding duration 630, the UE timeline may become tighter, which affects how the UE 115 decides to multiplex the UCI 635.
[0138]
[0150] As described herein, the UE 115 may determine which symbols (e.g., PUSCH symbols) of the uplink signal 620 to multiplex with the UCI 635 based on Z', where Z'=f(Z,ECP,TA). For example, if the UE 115 is unable to multiplex the UCI 635 in the first symbol of the uplink signal 620 (e.g., of slot N) because the first symbol occurs earlier than Z', the UE 115 may multiplex the UCI 635 in the next symbol (e.g., the next PUSCH symbol) of the uplink signal 620. As shown in the UCI multiplexing timeline 600, the timeline 640 between receiving the event trigger 605-a and the start of the uplink signal 620 may be less than Z' such that the UE 115 is unable to multiplex the UCI 635 in the first symbol of slot N for the uplink signal 620. In some cases, f(Z,ECP,TA)=Z+ECP or f(Z,ECP,TA)=Z+ECP+TA or f(Z,ECP,TA)=Z+ceil(ECP+TA) (e.g., ceil(x) may represent the ceiling function described above) or f(Z,ECP,TA)=Z+max(ECP+TA) or f(Z,ECP,TA)=Z+ceil(max(ECP)) or f(Z,ECP,TA)=Z+ceil(max(ECP+TA)). The maximum value may be for all possible values of ECP and / or TA (e.g., multiple ECP or CG-PUSCH starting offsets may be preconfigured for the UE to select, and max(ECP) is the maximum value for all preconfigured ECP values). Additionally, f(Z,ECP,TA) may be semi-statically signaled to the (e.g., RRC configured) UE 115 as a constant value based on max(ECP+TA) or max(ECP). For example, f(Z,ECP,TA)=Z+2 symbols, where these two symbols are configured by RRC. The maximum value may be for all possible values of ECP 615 (e.g., various ECPs may be configured for the CG-PUSCH starting offset from which the UE 115 should select).
[0139]
[0151] Additionally or alternatively, the UE 115 may determine to multiplex the UCI 635 when the event trigger 605 is Z′ symbols (e.g., PUSCH symbols) before the start symbol of the uplink signal 620. The value of Z′=f(Z,ECP,TA) may be the same as described above. For example, as shown in the UCI multiplexing timeline 601, the event trigger 605-b may be received based on a timeline 645 of symbols before the start of the uplink signal 620, where the timeline 645 is equal to the duration 630 of the duration Z+ECP 615 (e.g., Z′=Z+ECP). Thus, the UE 115 may determine to multiplex the UCI 635 with the uplink signal 620 and may multiplex the UCI 635 in the first symbol of slot N for the uplink signal 620 based on this determination.
[0140]
[0152] In some cases, the UE 115 may determine to multiplex the UCI 635 with the uplink signal 620, but may multiplex the UCI 635 in a later symbol of slot N (e.g., the third or fourth symbol) because the Z' timeline is too tight to multiplex the UCI 635 in the first symbol of slot N for the uplink signal 620 (e.g., the time between the UCI triggering event and the start of slot N is greater than Z but less than Z').
[0141]
[0153] In some cases, the timeline of the uplink signal 620 (e.g., PUSCH) transmission may be due to any one of the following: A UCI Z timeline when the UCI 635 is multiplexed with the uplink signal 620 (e.g., PUSCH), which may apply to the SUL and CG-UL. For example, the Z timeline may be determined from an ACK / NACK UCI for the PDSCH, or a UCI for the CSI transmission. Additionally or alternatively, the UE 115 may use the N2 timeline (e.g., described above with reference to FIG. 4) for a grant-based PUSCH (e.g., applicable to the SUL).
[0142]
[0154] In some cases, if the event trigger 605 causing the UCI 635 occurs between Z and Z+ECP+TA before the start of a regular symbol for the uplink signal 620 (e.g., for the CG-UL or SUL), the UE 115 may not know how to process and prepare both the UCI 635 and the uplink signal 620 at the same time. Additionally or alternatively, if an uplink grant for the uplink signal 620 (e.g., applicable to the SUL) occurs less than N2+ECP symbols before the uplink signal 620, the UE 115 may not be able to multiplex the UCI 635 and the uplink signal 620. Thus, in some cases, the UE 115 may use a priority rule and drop one of the PUSCH (e.g., carrying the uplink signal 620) or the PUCCH (e.g., carrying the UCI 635) based on the priority rule. For example, the priorities may include PUCCH ACK / NACK, PUCCH CSI, PUSCH, where the UE 115 is expected to drop the PUSCH and transmit the PUCCH (e.g., PUCCH has a higher priority), and / or the UE 115 transmits the PUSCH and drops the PUCCH.
[0143]
[0155] The decision of whether to drop the PUSCH or the PUCCH may depend on the type of the PUCCH. For example, if the PUCCH includes ACK / NACK feedback (e.g., prioritize and transmit PUCCH and ACK / NACK feedback), the UE 115 may drop the PUSCH, but if the PUCCH includes only CSI feedback (e.g., prioritize and transmit PUSCH), the UE 115 may drop the PUCCH. Additionally or alternatively, the UE 115 may not expect to receive an uplink grant (e.g., PUSCH grant) and a UCI trigger (e.g., event trigger 605), leading to a situation where UCI 635 occurs between Z and Z+ECP+TA (e.g., when the base station 105 identifies that the UE 115 may need to transmit with ECP 615, the base station 105 may ensure that this situation does not occur by scheduling the event trigger 605 earlier, or implement a similar mitigation). Additionally or alternatively, the UE 115 may not drop the PUSCH and / or PUCCH even if the triggering event occurs less than Z' symbols earlier. For example, if the UE 115 is capable of processing and preparing the uplink signal 620, the UCI 635, and / or both at the same time, the UE 115 may not drop either message and may transmit both.
[0144]
[0156] In some cases, the type of LBT 610 may depend on whether the uplink signal 620 occurs inside or outside the base station 105 acquisition channel occupancy time (COT). Inside the base station acquisition COT, the UE 115 may use a category 2 (cat2) LBT before transmitting, while outside the base station acquisition COT, the UE 115 may be required to use a category 4 (cat4) LBT. The UE 115 may determine whether the uplink signal is inside or outside the base station acquisition COT by decoding a PDCCH that includes a slot format indicator (SFI) or a COT structure indicator (COT-SI). A PDCCH that includes an SFI or COT-SI may be a trigger event that enables the UE 115 to use a cat2 LBT. If the trigger event occurs at least Z′ symbols before the start of the uplink signal 620, the UE 115 may use a cat2 LBT, otherwise the UE 115 may use a cat4 LBT. The value of Z'=f(Z,ECP,TA) may be the same as described above (e.g., f(Z,ECP,TA)=Z+ceil(max(ECP+TA)), etc.).
[0145]
[0157] 7 illustrates an example of a process flow 700 supporting an uplink channel timeline with an extended cyclic prefix in accordance with aspects of the disclosure. In some examples, the process flow 700 may implement aspects of the wireless communications systems 100 and / or 200. The process flow 700 may include a base station 105-b and a UE 115-b, which may be examples of corresponding base stations 105 and UEs 115, respectively, described above with reference to FIGS. 1-6.
[0146]
[0158] In the following description of process flow 700, operations between the UE 115-b and the base station 105-b may be performed in various orders or at various times. Also, some operations may be omitted from the process flow 700, or other operations may be added to the process flow 700. Although the UE 115-b and the base station 105-b are shown performing some of the operations of process flow 700, it should be understood that any wireless device may perform the operations shown.
[0147]
[0159] At 705, the UE 115-b may transmit an indication of the UE capability of supporting ECP. In some cases, the UE 115-b may transmit an indication of the amount of ECP supported by the UE 115-b. For example, the amount of ECP supported may include a number of absolute time units, a number of symbols, or a combination thereof. Additionally or alternatively, the amount of extended cyclic prefix supported may be based on the SCS of the uplink channel or may be the same for any SCS of the uplink channel.
[0148]
[0160] At 710, the UE 115-b may determine to transmit an uplink message on resources of the uplink channel. In some cases, the UE 115-b may receive an uplink grant to schedule the uplink message on resources of the uplink channel. Additionally or alternatively, the UE 115-b may receive a configured grant to schedule one or more uplink messages on resources of the uplink channel.
[0149]
[0161] At 715, the UE 115-b may perform an LBT procedure based on determining to transmit the uplink message.
[0150]
[0162] At 720, the UE 115-b may determine a duration of the extended cyclic prefix associated with resources of the uplink channel. In some cases, the UE 115-b may receive from the base station a configuration of a set of offsets for transmitting the extended cyclic prefix, where the set of offsets is based on an indication of UE capabilities. Additionally or alternatively, the UE 115-b may receive from the base station 105-b a configuration of a set of offsets for transmitting the extended cyclic prefix and may select an offset from a subset of the set of offsets for transmitting the extended cyclic prefix, where the subset of the set of offsets is based on UE capabilities.
[0151]
[0163] At 725, the UE 115-b may identify uplink control information to transmit on the uplink channel based on the event trigger and may multiplex the uplink control information and at least one symbol of an uplink message on the uplink channel on a timeline that includes a minimum number of symbols required by the UE between when the event trigger occurs and a start of the uplink channel, an extended cyclic prefix, a timing advance, or a combination thereof. In some cases, the UE 115-b may determine symbols for multiplexing the uplink control information and the uplink message on the uplink channel based on the timeline.
[0152]
[0164] Additionally or alternatively, the UE 115-b may determine to multiplex the uplink control information and the uplink message based on an event trigger occurring several symbols prior to the start of the uplink channel, the number of symbols being based on a timeline. In some cases, the timeline may be based on the duration of the extended cyclic prefix, the duration of the extended cyclic prefix plus a timing advance, the smallest integer number of symbols whose duration is equal to or greater than the duration of the extended cyclic prefix, the smallest integer number of symbols whose duration is equal to or greater than the duration of the extended cyclic prefix plus the timing advance, or a combination thereof.
[0153]
[0165] In some cases, the UE 115-b may receive an indication of the timeline increase caused by the extended cyclic prefix and timing advance via RRC signaling. Additionally, the minimum number of symbols required by the UE between when the event trigger occurs and the start of the uplink channel may be a UE uplink control information capability. In some cases, the uplink control information may include a feedback message, channel state information, or a combination thereof.
[0154]
[0166] Additionally or alternatively, the UE 115-b may identify UCI to transmit on the uplink channel based on the event trigger and may drop the uplink message or uplink control information based on the priority of the uplink message, the uplink control information, the data to be transmitted in the uplink control information, or a combination thereof. In some cases, the event trigger may occur within a duration before the start of the uplink channel. Furthermore, the duration may be based on a supported number of symbols, an extended cyclic prefix, and a timing advance between the event trigger and transmitting the uplink control information.
[0155]
[0167] At 730, the UE 115-b may transmit, on the resources of the uplink channel, the extended cyclic prefix and a first symbol of one or more symbols of a subsequent uplink message according to the determined duration, where the extended cyclic prefix is based on the first symbol. In some cases, the extended cyclic prefix and the uplink message may be in the same slot.
[0156]
[0168] 8 illustrates an example of a process flow 800 supporting an uplink channel timeline with an extended cyclic prefix in accordance with aspects of the disclosure. In some examples, the process flow 800 may implement aspects of the wireless communications systems 100 and / or 200. The process flow 800 may include a base station 105-c and a UE 115-c, which may be examples of the corresponding base station 105 and UE 115, respectively, described above with reference to FIGS. 1-7.
[0157]
[0169] In the following description of process flow 800, operations between the UE 115-c and the base station 105-c may be performed in various orders or at various times. Also, some operations may be omitted from the process flow 800, or other operations may be added to the process flow 800. Although the UE 115-c and the base station 105-c are shown performing some of the operations of process flow 800, it should be understood that any wireless device may perform the operations shown.
[0158]
[0170] At 805, the base station 105-c may determine a duration of the extended cyclic prefix based on the symbol duration, the duration for the listen-before-talk procedure, and the gap between the downlink and uplink slots.
[0159]
[0171] At 810, the UE 115-c may receive an uplink grant indicating resources for the uplink channel and an indication of an extended cyclic prefix for the uplink channel.
[0160]
[0172] At 815, the UE 115-c may perform an LBT procedure based on receiving the uplink grant.
[0161]
[0173] At 820, the UE 115-c may determine a duration of the extended cyclic prefix from the received uplink grant. In some cases, the extended cyclic prefix may include a fractional number of symbols, a full number of symbols, or a combination thereof.
[0162]
[0174] Additionally, the UE 115-c may determine to transmit on the resources of the uplink channel based on a timeline including a minimum number of symbols required by the UE between a received uplink grant and a start of the uplink channel, an extended cyclic prefix, a timing advance, or a combination thereof. In some cases, the UE 115-c may determine to transmit on the resources of the uplink channel based on an uplink grant that occurs several symbols prior to the start of the uplink channel, the number of symbols being based on the timeline. For example, the timeline may be based on a duration of the extended cyclic prefix, a sum of the duration of the extended cyclic prefix and a timing advance, a smallest integer number of symbols whose duration is equal to or greater than the duration of the extended cyclic prefix, a smallest integer number of symbols whose duration is equal to or greater than the duration of the extended cyclic prefix and a timing advance, or a combination thereof.
[0163]
[0175] In some cases, the UE 115-c may receive an indication of the timeline increase caused by the extended cyclic prefix and timing advance via RRC signaling. Additionally, the minimum number of symbols required by the UE between the received uplink grant and the start of the uplink channel may be a UE uplink control information capability. In some cases, the UE 115-c may reduce the determined duration of the extended cyclic prefix based on when the uplink grant is received.
[0164]
[0176] At 825, the UE 115-c may transmit the extended cyclic prefix and a first symbol of one or more symbols of a subsequent uplink message on resources of the uplink channel according to the determined duration, the extended cyclic prefix being based on the first symbol. In some cases, the extended cyclic prefix and the uplink channel may be in the same slot.
[0165]
[0177] 9 illustrates an example of a process flow 900 supporting an uplink channel timeline with an extended cyclic prefix in accordance with aspects of the disclosure. In some examples, the process flow 900 may implement aspects of the wireless communications systems 100 and / or 200. The process flow 900 may include a base station 105-d and a UE 115-d, which may be examples of the corresponding base station 105 and UE 115, respectively, described above with reference to FIGS. 1-8.
[0166]
[0178] In the following description of process flow 900, operations between the UE 115-d and the base station 105-d may be performed in various orders or at various times. Also, some operations may be omitted from the process flow 900, or other operations may be added to the process flow 900. Although the UE 115-d and the base station 105-d are shown performing some of the operations of process flow 900, it should be understood that any wireless device may perform the operations shown.
[0167]
[0179] At 905, the UE 115-d may receive an uplink grant of resources of an uplink channel for an uplink message by the UE, the uplink grant indicating to transmit an extended cyclic prefix at a start of the resources of the uplink grant.
[0168]
[0180] At 910, the UE 115-d may perform an LBT procedure based on receiving the uplink grant. In some cases, the UE 115-d may perform the LBT procedure in a window before transmitting an extended cyclic prefix.
[0169]
[0181] At 915, the UE 115-d may rate match the TB based on one or more symbols of the uplink message.
[0170]
[0182] At 920, the UE 115-d may transmit, on the resource of the uplink channel, the extended cyclic prefix followed by the first symbol of one or more symbols of the uplink message according to the start of the resource of the uplink grant, where the extended cyclic prefix is based on the first symbol. In some cases, the UE 115-d may transmit the extended cyclic prefix followed by the first symbol of one or more symbols of the uplink message based on the duration between when the uplink grant is received and the start of the resource of the uplink grant. Furthermore, the extended cyclic prefix may end at a symbol boundary of the uplink channel, and the extended cyclic prefix and the uplink channel may be in the same slot.
[0171]

[0173]
[0185] The communications manager 1015 may send an indication of the UE capability of supporting the extended cyclic prefix; determine to transmit an uplink message on resources of the uplink channel; perform a listen-before-talk procedure based on the determination to transmit the uplink message; determine a duration of the extended cyclic prefix associated with the resources of the uplink channel; transmit the extended cyclic prefix and a first symbol of one or more symbols of a subsequent uplink message on the resources of the uplink channel in accordance with the determined duration, where the extended cyclic prefix is based on the first symbol.

The acts performed by the communications manager 1015 as described herein may be implemented to realize one or more potential advantages. At least one implementation may enable the communications manager 1015 to determine the duration of an ECP and transmit the ECP on an uplink message. Based on implementing the determination, one or more processors of the device 1005 (e.g., a processor controlling or incorporated in the communications manager 1015) may facilitate improvements to the security of communications using ECP, and in some examples, may facilitate increased spectral efficiency, higher data rates, and efficiency for reliable and low latency operation, among other benefits.
[0177]

[0178]
[0190] The communications manager 1015, or subcomponents thereof, may be physically located in various locations, including being distributed such that portions of the functionality are implemented at different physical locations by one or more physical components. In some examples, the communications manager 1015, or subcomponents thereof, may be separate and distinct components according to various aspects of the present disclosure.
