Abstract
Description
[Technical Field]
[0001] The present invention relates to a hard surface treatment composition and a method for improving the wettability of a hard surface. [Background technology]
[0002] Many hydrophobic hard surfaces, such as bathtubs, are vertical or inclined, and in order to remove dirt from these areas, it is effective to spread a cleaning agent containing an anionic surfactant or amphoteric surfactant using a spray or the like. However, on vertical or inclined hard surfaces such as bathtubs, the detergent does not stay on the surface and drips in streaks, resulting in the detergent not being fully effective. On the other hand, there are various methods to enhance the cleaning effect by increasing the adhesion and retention of the cleaning agent through various thickening methods and reducing the contact angle, thereby suppressing the dripping of the cleaning agent on vertical and inclined surfaces. Patent Document 1 discloses a method of using a polymer for increasing viscosity and a nonionic surfactant or solvent as a contact angle reducing agent. Furthermore, Patent Document 2 describes that a dishwashing detergent containing a short-chain alcohol can be sprayed. [Prior art documents] [Patent documents]
[0003] [Patent Document 1] Japanese Patent Application Laid-Open No. 2004-210808 [Patent Document 2] Special Publication No. 2018-536060 Summary of the Invention [Problem to be solved by the invention]
[0004] However, Patent Document 1 requires a thickener such as a polymer, which makes it uneconomical and makes it impossible to spray. Therefore, there is a need for a treatment agent that can be sprayed and can be efficiently spread over the entire surface of a hydrophobic hard surface without running out of liquid. Furthermore, Patent Document 2 does not suggest that a specific ratio of surfactant and short-chain alcohol can improve wetting and spreading properties when applied to a vertical surface.
[0005] The present invention provides a hard surface treatment composition that improves adhesion and wettability when sprayed onto a hard surface, and has good dischargeability by spraying and blend stability, and a method for improving the wettability of a hard surface using the same. [Means for solving the problem]
[0006] The present invention relates to a hard surface treatment composition comprising (a) a compound having a hydrocarbon group containing from 6 to 12 carbon atoms and having an HLB value of from 2.5 to 9, as determined by the Griffin method [hereinafter referred to as component (a)], (b) a surfactant (excluding component (a)) [hereinafter referred to as component (b)] in an amount of from 0.1 to 10% by mass, (c) a water-soluble organic solvent [hereinafter referred to as component (c)], and water, wherein the mass ratio (a) / (b) of the content of component (a) to the content of component (b) is from 0.05 to 0.43, and the mass ratio (a) / (c) of the content of component (a) to the content of component (c) is from 0.1 to 1.4, and the viscosity at 20°C is less than 50 mPa s.
[0007] The present invention relates to a method for improving the wettability of a hard surface, which comprises contacting the hard surface with the hard surface treatment composition.
[0008] The present invention relates to an agent for improving adhesion and wettability of a surfactant-containing composition to a hard surface, which comprises component (a). [Effects of the Invention]
[0009] According to the present invention, there are provided a hard surface treatment composition that improves adhesion and wettability when sprayed onto a hard surface, and that has good spray dischargeability and blend stability, and a method for improving the wettability of a hard surface using the same. The hard surface treatment composition of the present invention exhibits high wettability even on hydrophobic hard surfaces, and therefore, even when sprayed onto a vertical hydrophobic hard surface, the composition exhibits high adhesion and wetting / spreading properties, preventing runout and improving the amount of agent remaining, which in turn leads to improved cleaning power. DETAILED DESCRIPTION OF THE INVENTION
[0010] [Hard surface treatment composition] The reasons why the hard surface treatment composition of the present invention improves adhesion and wettability when sprayed onto a hard surface, and the sprayability and blend stability are good are not entirely clear, but are presumed to be as follows. Component (a) of the present invention, which has a hydrocarbon group with a specific carbon number and a specific HLB, has higher molecular mobility than component (b) of the present invention and is more compatible with hydrophobic surfaces than component (b). Therefore, when the treatment composition comes into contact with a hard surface, component (a) quickly adsorbs to the interface, forming a hydrophobic surface that is compatible with component (b). As a result, the hard surface treatment agent of the present invention can be wetted and spread across the hard surface, improving the residue of the treatment agent. This effect can be achieved by combining components (b) and (a), and components (c) and (a) in specific ratios. Furthermore, even with a low viscosity that allows spraying, the treatment agent can be wetted and spread across a hydrophobic hard surface, ensuring the treatment agent remains. It is also believed that this improves the formulation stability of the treatment agent. Furthermore, component (a) of the present invention is a hydrophobic compound and is very difficult to dissolve in water. Stable dissolution of this compound in the composition can be achieved by using a surfactant (component (b)) and a water-soluble solvent (component (c)) in combination. However, the effects of the present invention cannot be achieved simply by adding component (c). A lack of components (b) and (c) makes the composition unstable, while excessive amounts impair the effects of component (a). Therefore, the effects of the present invention can be achieved by adjusting the mass ratio of component (a) to components (b) and (c) within a specific range.
[0011] <Component (a)> Component (a) is a compound having a hydrocarbon group with 6 to 12 carbon atoms and an HLB value of 2.5 to 9 as determined by the Griffin method. The HLB value of component (a) is determined by Griffin's method, and in the case of a polyoxyethylene-type nonionic surfactant, the HLB value of this method is calculated using the following formula: HLB value = 20 × (MH / M) [MH: molecular weight of hydrophilic group moiety, M: molecular weight] For calculating these HLB values, the method described by Shigeo Hayano in "Yu Kagaku" Vol. 13, No. 4 (1964), pp. 36-39, at the Institute of Industrial Science, University of Tokyo, may be referred to. When the number of moles of polyoxyethylene groups added varies, the molecular weight calculated from the average number of moles added is used. For nonionic surfactants for which the HLB cannot be determined using Griffin's method, the HLB value determined experimentally will be used. The experimental method used is that described in "Surfactant Handbook," edited by Nishi Ichiro et al., published by Sangyo Tosho Co., Ltd., 5th printing, January 10, 1966, p. 319. For example, for nonionic surfactants with polyoxypropylene groups, the value determined experimentally will be used.

A hydrophobic hard surface is a hard surface material having a water contact angle of 30° or more, preferably 40° or more, and 120° or less, preferably 100° or less. Examples of hard surface materials having a water contact angle within the above range include one or more selected from polyester resin, acrylic resin, soft PVC resin, FRP resin, ABS resin, PP resin, PC resin, SUS, aluminum, and PET resin.
[0054] [Method for improving wettability of hard surfaces] The present invention provides a method for improving the wettability of a hard surface (hereinafter also referred to as the method of the present invention), which comprises contacting the hard surface with the hard surface treatment composition of the present invention. The method of the present invention can be applied as appropriate to the matters described in relation to the hard surface treatment composition of the present invention. In the present invention, a concentrated composition containing components (a), (b), (c), and any optional components may be prepared, and the concentrated composition may be diluted with water to prepare the hard surface treatment composition of the present invention, which may then be brought into contact with a hard surface. That is, the method for improving the wettability of a hard surface may involve diluting a concentrated composition containing components (a), (b), (c), and any optional components with water to prepare the hard surface treatment composition of the present invention, and then contacting the composition with a hard surface without dilution.
[0055] Another example of the method of the present invention is a method in which the hard surface treatment composition of the present invention is brought into contact with a hard surface and then left to stand without applying (or providing) external force such as mechanical force. In the present invention, the hard surface treatment composition of the present invention wets and spreads over the hard surface, so that a high cleaning effect can be achieved by contacting the hard surface without using a flexible material such as a sponge or fingers, and by leaving the composition to stand without applying external force such as mechanical force. This makes the composition suitable for cleaning areas that are difficult to reach with hands or tools, or for cleaning small areas that are difficult to reach. Leaving the surface without applying external force such as mechanical force means, for example, that no intentional cleaning operation is performed other than contacting the composition. For example, the term "leaving the surface without applying external force" can be understood to mean that the contacted composition flows naturally down the hard surface or vibrations that are not intended for cleaning are transmitted to the hard surface. After leaving it for a while, it is usually rinsed with water. When rinsing, external force (physical force) may be applied with hands, or simply rinsed with running water.
[0056] In the method of the present invention, the hard surface treatment composition of the present invention is applied to a target hard surface having an area of 100 cm. 2 From the viewpoint of coverage by wetting and spreading, it is preferable to bring the solution into contact with the substrate, and further to apply or spray the solution, at a ratio of preferably 0.04 g or more, more preferably 0.06 g or more, even more preferably 0.08 g or more, and preferably 0.15 g or less, more preferably 0.12 g or less, even more preferably 0.1 g or less.
[0057] In the method of the present invention, from the viewpoint of wetting and spreading, the hard surface treatment composition of the present invention is allowed to stand after contact with the hard surface for preferably 10 seconds or more, more preferably 15 seconds or more, even more preferably 20 seconds or more, still more preferably 30 seconds or more, and preferably 30 minutes or less, more preferably 10 minutes or less, even more preferably 5 minutes or less, still more preferably 2 minutes or less, and still more preferably 1 minute or less. In this case, the time when the composition first comes into contact with the hard surface may be considered the start of the standing period. The temperature during storage may be room temperature, for example, 10°C or higher and 30°C or lower.
[0058] In the method of the present invention, the hard surface treatment composition of the present invention may be brought into contact with the hard surface by spraying or applying, preferably by spraying. The method of contacting the hard surface treatment composition of the present invention with a hard surface is preferably spraying or applying, and examples thereof include spraying in the form of droplets or applying in the form of foam. Specifically, a spray means can be used. That is, it is preferable to use a cleaning article in which the hard surface treatment composition of the present invention is filled in a container equipped with a sprayer. The present invention provides a cleaning article in a spray container in which the hard surface treatment composition of the present invention is filled in a container equipped with a sprayer.
[0059] In the spray-container-packaged cleaner article of the present invention, the container equipped with a sprayer filled with the hard surface treatment composition of the present invention may be a manual spray device that does not use a propellant, such as a trigger-type spray container or a pump-type spray container, or an aerosol that uses a propellant. The container equipped with the sprayer is preferably a trigger-type spray that can spray or apply the contents in the form of droplets or foam, and more preferably a trigger-type spray equipped with a mechanism for spraying the contents in the form of droplets or a mechanism for forming foam (foam-forming mechanism).
[0060] When a trigger-type spray equipped with a mechanism for spraying the hard surface treatment composition of the present invention in droplets is used in the spray-container-packed cleaner article of the present invention, the nozzle diameter of the spray container that holds the composition is preferably 0.1 mm or more, more preferably 0.3 mm or more, and preferably 2 mm or less, more preferably 1 mm or less, so that spraying is easy, the sprayed droplets are not rough, they are not sprayed in a straight line, and the sprayable area is not extremely narrow. When using a trigger-type spray equipped with a mechanism for spraying droplets, the spray-container-packaged cleaning article of the present invention sprays preferably 0.1 mL or more, more preferably 0.3 mL or more, and preferably 5 mL or less, more preferably 2 mL or less of the composition in one operation.
[0061] When using a trigger-type spray equipped with a foam-forming mechanism, the cleaning article in a spray container of the present invention sprays preferably 0.5 mL or more, more preferably 1 mL or more, and preferably 30 mL or less, more preferably 15 mL or less, and even more preferably 5 mL or less of the composition in one operation.
[0062] The method of the present invention is preferred as a method for cleaning hard surfaces of hard articles, further hard surfaces such as bathrooms, bathtubs, washbasins, tiles, restrooms, washstands, mirrors, kitchen sinks, countertops, and water areas, particularly hard surfaces in bathrooms. The method of the present invention can be suitably carried out on hydrophobic hard surfaces. A hydrophobic hard surface is a hard surface material having a contact angle with water of 30° or more, preferably 40° or more, and 120° or less, preferably 100° or less. Examples of hard surface materials having a contact angle with water in the above range include one or more selected from polyester resin, acrylic resin, soft PVC resin, FRP resin, ABS resin, PP resin, PC resin, SUS, aluminum, and PET resin.
[0063] [Agent for improving adhesion and wetting / spreading on hard surfaces] The component (a) of the present invention can be suitably used as a component that improves the adhesion and wetting / spreading properties of a cleaning composition containing the surfactant, which is the component (b) of the present invention, to a hydrophobic hard surface. That is, the present invention provides an agent for improving the adhesion and wettability of a surfactant-containing composition to a hard surface, which comprises component (a). The agent for improving adhesion and wettability to hard surfaces of the present invention can be applied as appropriate to the matters described in the hard surface treatment composition and the method for improving wettability of hard surfaces. [Example]
[0064] The hard surface treatment compositions shown in Tables 1 to 5 were prepared using the ingredients listed below, and the following items were evaluated. The results are shown in Tables 1 to 5. For the hard surface treatment compositions shown in Tables 1 to 5, components (a) to (c) were added in the amounts shown in the tables and dissolved at room temperature (20°C). After blending, the pH was adjusted to 10.8 (20°C) using sodium hydroxide and / or hydrochloric acid. The pH was measured using a glass electrode method. The mass percentages of the ingredients in Tables 1 to 5 are all values based on the active ingredient. The viscosity of each hard surface treatment composition at 20°C was measured using a B-type viscometer (model: TVB-10, manufactured by Toki Sangyo Co., Ltd., using a No. 19 rotor, at 60 r / min or 1 r / min). For Comparative Example 10, a thickener (xanthan gum) was added to adjust the viscosity to the value shown in Table 1.

[0068] <Compound stability evaluation> After preparing the hard surface treatment compositions shown in Tables 1 to 5, they were stored at room temperature (20°C) for one day, and then visually observed for any changes in appearance (separation of components, layer separation, turbidity, etc.) and evaluated according to the following criteria. ◎: Uniform and transparent, with no separation or layering of components or turbidity observed △: No separation or layering of components observed, but cloudy. ×: Separation and layering of components observed
[0069] <Spray discharge evaluation> The hard surface treatment compositions shown in Tables 1 to 5 were filled into a trigger-type spray container (Bath Magiclean Foaming Spray, manufactured by Kao Corporation) and sprayed. The spray discharge properties were visually observed and evaluated according to the following criteria. ◎: Able to be discharged as foam. △: Foam was discharged, but the amount of foam was insufficient ×: Foam prevented discharge.
[0070] <Adhesion evaluation> 50 mg of each of the hard surface treatment compositions shown in Tables 1 to 5 was dropped onto a horizontally placed hydrophobic substrate (PVC test piece, 25 mm x 75 mm), tilted vertically, and the amount of the composition remaining after 30 seconds was measured and evaluated according to the following criteria. The greater the amount of the composition remaining, the better the adhesion to the hydrophobic substrate. Note that as the hard surface treatment composition spreads over the hydrophobic substrate, the adhesion area increases and the amount of residue also increases. The hydrophobic substrates used were washed with kitchen detergent "Cucute" (Kao Corporation), washed with ethanol and ion-exchanged water, and then dried. 5: The residual amount after 30 seconds is 7 mg or more. 4: The residual amount after 30 seconds is between 6 mg and 7 mg. 3: The residual amount after 30 seconds is between 5 mg and 6 mg. 2: The residual amount after 30 seconds is 2 mg or more but less than 5 mg. 1: The residual amount after 30 seconds is between 0 mg and 2 mg.
[0071] <Evaluation of wetting and spreading> 5 mg of each of the hard surface treatment compositions in Tables 1 to 5 was dropped onto a horizontally placed hydrophobic substrate (PVC test piece, 20 mm x 20 mm), and the area was measured 30 seconds later. The relative area to a blank (BDG: 7.8% by mass, Amphitol 20AB: 3.1% by mass, C12AS: 1% by mass, Lunac MY-98: 0.2% by mass, balance: water) was evaluated according to the following criteria. A larger relative area indicates greater wetting and spreading. The hydrophobic substrate used was washed with kitchen detergent "Cucute" (Kao Corporation), then washed with ethanol and ion-exchanged water, and then dried. 5: Relative area is 175 or more 4: Relative area is 150 or more and less than 175 3: Relative area is 125 or more and less than 150 2: Relative area is greater than 100 and less than 125 1: Relative area is 100
[0072] <Sebum cleansing power evaluation> Approximately 60 mg of model sebum soil (a mixture of fatty acids, squalene, wax, etc.) was attached to a hydrophobic substrate (PVC test piece, 20 mm x 75 mm), dried for 30 minutes, and then its weight was measured. The hydrophobic substrate was placed horizontally with the model sebum soil side facing up, and 50 mg of a hard surface treatment composition shown in Tables 3 and 4 was dropped onto it. The hydrophobic substrate was then immediately turned upright and left for 1 minute. After 1 minute, the hydrophobic substrate was rinsed with ion-exchanged water for 30 seconds and dried. The cleaning rate was calculated from the change in weight and evaluated according to the following criteria. The hydrophobic substrate was also washed with kitchen detergent "Cucute" (Kao Corporation), washed with ethanol and ion-exchanged water, and then dried. 5: Cleaning rate is 30% or more 4: Cleaning rate is between 22.5% and 30% 3: Cleaning rate is between 15% and 22.5% 2: Cleaning rate is between 7.5% and 15% 1: Cleaning rate is less than 7.5%
[0073] <Evaluation of protein cleaning power> 15 mg of keratin (manufactured by Tokyo Chemical Industry Co., Ltd.) was placed in a disposable NMR sample tube (manufactured by AS ONE Corporation, outer diameter 5 mm, height 180 mm), the height of the keratin (before treatment) was measured, and 500 mg of the hard surface treatment composition in Table 5 or ion-exchanged water was added. After leaving it for 15 hours, the keratin height (after treatment) was measured, and the swelling ratio after treatment with ion-exchanged water was used as the standard (100%) to calculate the protein swelling ratio using the formula below, and evaluated according to the following criteria. The higher the protein swelling ratio, the better the protein detergency, so it is an indicator of cleaning performance. ◎: Swelling ratio 110 or more ○: Swelling ratio 105 or more and less than 110 △: Swelling ratio 100 or more and less than 105
