[0006] The vehicle lamp according to the present invention comprises: a first light source disposed on a base portion; a second light source disposed on the base portion at a position separated in the left-right direction from the first light source when the lamp is mounted on the vehicle; a first lens portion disposed in front of the first light source and emitting light from the first light source forward; a second lens portion disposed in front of the second light source and emitting light from the second light source forward; and a non-emitting portion disposed below the second lens portion and having a non-emitting surface that prevents light from the second light source that travels below the second lens portion from emitting forward from the second lens portion; and a projection lens that irradiates the light from the first light source emitted from the primary lens forward on the vehicle to form a first pattern above the horizon, and irradiates the light from the second light source emitted from the primary lens forward on the vehicle to form at least a part of a second pattern different from the first pattern.

[0007] In the above-described vehicle lamp, the first lens portion may have an incident surface on which light from the first light source is incident and an exit surface that emits the light that is incident on the incident surface forward, and may be formed so as to refract the light that is incident on the incident surface toward the exit surface so as not to be internally reflected, and the second lens portion may have a front-side incident surface that is disposed in front of the second light source, side incident surfaces that are disposed so as to surround the left, right, and upper sides of the second light source, side reflecting surfaces that internally reflect the light that is incident from the side incident surface forward, and a common exit surface that emits the light that is incident on the front-side incident surface and the light that is reflected by the side reflecting surface.

[0008] In the above vehicle lamp, the second lens portion may have, on the common exit surface, a prism portion that diffuses the emitted light in the left-right direction.

[0009] In the above vehicle lamp, the first pattern may be an ADB pattern, and the second pattern may be a low beam pattern.

[0010] In the above vehicle lamp, the first light sources may be arranged in a state where a plurality of the first light sources are lined up in the left-right direction, and the second light source may be arranged at a position shifted upward relative to the first light sources.

[0011] The above-mentioned vehicle lamp may further include a third light source arranged on another base portion provided separately from the base portion, a reflector that reflects light from the third light source forward, and another projection lens that irradiates the light reflected by the reflector forward of the vehicle to form a main portion of the low beam pattern.

[0012] The above-mentioned vehicle lamp may further include a fourth light source arranged separately from the third light source on the other base portion, and the other projection lens may irradiate light from the fourth light source ahead of the vehicle to form a high beam pattern. [0015] Hereinafter, an embodiment of a vehicle lamp according to the present invention will be described with reference to the drawings. However, the present invention is not limited to the embodiment. Furthermore, the components in the following embodiments include those that are easily replaceable by a person skilled in the art, or those that are substantially the same. In the following description, the front-rear, up-down, and left-right directions refer to directions in a vehicle mounted state in which the vehicle headlamp is mounted on a vehicle, and indicate directions when viewed from the driver's seat in the direction of vehicle travel. In this embodiment, the up-down direction is parallel to the vertical direction, and the left-right direction is horizontal. In addition, in this embodiment, the front and rear directions refer to directions in a state in which the vehicle is mounted on a vehicle (mounted state).

[0016] FIG. 1 is a perspective view showing an example of a vehicular lamp 100 according to this embodiment. As shown in FIG. 1, the vehicular lamp 100 has a first unit 10 and a second unit 30. The vehicular lamp 100 shown in FIG. 1 is a vehicular headlamp disposed, for example, on the front right side of a vehicle. Therefore, in the vehicular lamp 100, the right side is the outside of the vehicle and the left side is the inside of the vehicle. Note that the following description can also be applied to a case where the vehicular lamp 100 is disposed on the front left side of a vehicle by reversing the left and right sides.

[0017] In the vehicle lamp 100 shown in Fig. 1, the first unit 10 forms a first pattern, an ADB (Adaptive Driving Beam) pattern, and a second pattern, a portion of a low beam pattern, in front of the vehicle. The second unit 30 forms a main portion of the low beam pattern and a high beam pattern in front of the vehicle. The second unit 30 is disposed rearward and outside the vehicle relative to the first unit 10.

[0018] FIG. 2 is an enlarged perspective view of the first unit 10. FIG. 3 is a perspective view of the first unit 10, showing a state in which the projection lens 14 has been removed. FIG. 4 is a perspective view showing the positional relationship between the first light source 11, the second light source 12, and the primary lens 13. FIG. 5 is a diagram showing the primary lens 13. FIG. 5(a) shows a part of the primary lens 13 (a second lens portion 22, described later) as seen from behind. FIG. 5(b) shows the configuration along the AA cross section in FIG. 5(a). FIG. 6 is a diagram showing the positional relationship between the primary lens 13 and the projection lens 14.

[0019] The first unit 10 includes a first light source 11 , a second light source 12 , a primary lens 13 , a projection lens 14 , and a heat sink 15 .

[0020] A semiconductor light source such as an LED is used as the first light source 11. A plurality of first light sources 11 are provided on a light source substrate 16 and are arranged linearly in the left-right direction. In this embodiment, the plurality of first light sources 11 emit light L1 (see FIG. 7) for forming an ADB pattern ahead of the vehicle.

[0021] The second light source 12 is, for example, a semiconductor light source such as an LED. The second light source 12 is provided separately from the first light source 11 on the light source substrate 16. The second light source 12 is arranged at a position spaced apart in the left-right direction from the multiple first light sources 11. In this embodiment, the second light source 12 is arranged at a position spaced apart outside the vehicle from the multiple first light sources 11. For example, one second light source 12 is provided. A plurality of second light sources 12 may be provided. In this embodiment, the second light source 12 emits light L2 (see FIG. 8) for forming part of a low beam pattern ahead of the vehicle.

[0022] The second light source 12 is disposed above the multiple first light sources 11. Therefore, light L2 can be easily incident on the projection lens 14 at a position above the light L1 via the primary lens 13. Therefore, when emitted from the projection lens 14, the light L2 can be irradiated below the front of the vehicle, making it possible to easily form part of a low beam pattern.

[0023] The primary lens 13 has a first lens portion 21, a second lens portion 22, a non-emission portion 23, and an attachment portion 24. The primary lens 13 is formed such that the first lens portion 21, the second lens portion 22, the non-emission portion 23, and the attachment portion 24 are integrally formed. The primary lens 13 may be formed such that the first lens portion 21, the second lens portion 22, the non-emission portion 23, and the attachment portion 24 are integrally formed as a single member.

[0024] Fig. 7 is a diagram showing the configuration of first unit 10 along a vertical cross section passing through first lens portion 21. Fig. 8 is a diagram showing the configuration of first unit 10 along a vertical cross section passing through second lens portion 22 and non-emission portion 23.

[0025] The first lens portion 21 has an incident surface 21a and an exit surface 21b. Light L1 from the first light source 11 is incident on the incident surface 21a. The incident surface 21a is formed so that the incident light L1 is refracted toward the exit surface 21b. The exit surface 21b emits the light L1 that is incident on the incident surface 21a forward. The first lens portion 21 is configured so that the light L1 that is incident from the incident surface 21a is emitted from the exit surface 21b without being internally reflected or the like.

[0026] The second lens portion 22 has a front entrance surface 22a, a side entrance surface 22b, a side reflection surface 22c, and a common exit surface 22d.

[0027] The front incident surface 22a is disposed in front of the second light source 12. The front incident surface 22a faces the light emitting surface of the second light source 12. Light L2a (see FIG. 8) emitted forward from the second light source 12 is incident on the front incident surface 22a. The front incident surface 22a is an incident surface that is convex toward the second light source 12. Due to this shape, the incident light that is incident on the front incident surface 22a is directed toward the common exit surface 22d as parallel light.

[0028] The side entrance surface 22b is disposed so as to surround the left, right, and upper sides of the second light source 12. The side entrance surface 22b is provided, for example, so as to form a part of a cylindrical surface around the second light source 12. Light L2b (see FIG. 8) emitted from the second light source 12 to the left, right, and upper sides is incident on the side entrance surface 22b.

[0029] The side reflection surface 22c is disposed so as to surround the outside of the side entrance surface 22b. The side reflection surface 22c converts the light incident from the side entrance surface 22b into substantially parallel light and directs it toward the common exit surface 22d. The side reflection surface 22c internally reflects (total reflects) the light L2b incident from the side entrance surface 22b forward. The side reflection surface 22c may be provided as a reflector surface by vapor-depositing a reflective film such as a metal film on its surface.

[0030] The common exit surface 22d emits forward light L2a incident from the front incident surface 22a and light L2b incident from the side incident surface 22b and internally reflected by the side reflecting surface 22c. Prism portions 22e are formed on the common exit surface 22d. The prism portions 22e are, for example, cylindrical lenses extending in the vertical direction, and a plurality of prism portions 22e are arranged side by side in the horizontal direction. The prism portions 22e diffuse the light L2a and L2b emitted from the common exit surface 22d in the horizontal direction.

[0031] The non-emitting portion 23 is disposed below the second lens portion 22. The non-emitting portion 23 has a non-emitting surface 23a and a substrate-facing surface 23b. The non-emitting surface 23a is provided on the front side of the non-emitting portion 23. The non-emitting surface 23a is disposed below the common exit surface 22d. The non-emitting surface 23a is a flat surface that slopes downward from the common exit surface 22d side toward the projection lens 14 side. The non-emitting surface 23a internally reflects, for example, downward or backward, light L2c (see FIG. 8) of the light L2 from the second light source 12 traveling below the second lens portion 22 so that it does not exit forward. The internal reflection of light L2c by the non-emitting surface 23a can suppress the occurrence of glare. The substrate-facing surface 23b is provided on the rear side of the non-emitting portion 23. The substrate-facing surface 23b is a flat surface that faces the light source substrate 16. In the non-emitting portion 23, the non-emitting surface 23a and the substrate-facing surface 23b are both flat and have a shape that does not emit incident light forward.

[0032] The mounting portions 24 are respectively disposed on the vehicle inner side of the first lens portion 21 and the vehicle outer side of the second lens portion 22. The mounting portions 24 have openings 24a and 24b. A protrusion 16a provided on the base portion 15a is inserted into the opening 24a. By inserting the protrusion 16a into the opening 24a, the primary lens 13 is positioned relative to the base portion 15a. A fastening member 16b such as a screw is inserted into the opening 24b. The primary lens 13 is fixed to the base portion 15a by the fastening member 16b.

[0033] The projection lens 14 is disposed in front of the primary lens 13. The projection lens 14 is attached to the base portion 15a of the heat sink 15 by a lens holder 17. The projection lens 14 has an incident surface 14a and an exit surface 14b. Light L1 from the first light source 11 emitted from the first lens portion 21 of the primary lens 13 and light L2 from the second light source 12 emitted from the second lens portion 22 are incident on the incident surface 14a. The exit surface 14b emits the light L1 and light L2 incident on the incident surface 14a toward the front of the vehicle. The projection lens 14 irradiates the light L1 toward the front of the vehicle to form a first pattern, an ADB pattern, above the horizon. The projection lens 14 irradiates the light L2 toward the front of the vehicle to form at least a part of a low beam pattern.

[0034] The heat sink 15 has a base 15a and fins 15b. The base 15a supports the light source substrate 16, the primary lens 13, and the lens holder 17 on the front side. The fins 15b are arranged on the rear side of the base 15a. The fins 15b are plate-shaped, and multiple fins 15b are arranged side by side in the vertical or horizontal direction. The fins 15b dissipate heat generated by the first light source 11 and the second light source 12.

[0035] Fig. 9 is an exploded perspective view showing an example of the second unit 30. Fig. 10 is a front view showing an example of the second unit 30, and Fig. 11 is a cross-sectional view taken along the line BB in Fig. 10. Note that the projection lens 35 is omitted in Fig. 10. The second unit 30 shown in Figs. 9 to 11 forms a main portion of a low beam pattern and a high beam pattern ahead of the vehicle.

[0036] The second unit 30 includes a third light source 31, a fourth light source 32, a reflector 33, a primary lens , a projection lens 35, and a holder .

[0037] The third light source 31 emits light L3 for forming a low beam pattern in front of the vehicle, for example. The fourth light source 32 emits light L4 for forming a high beam pattern in front of the vehicle, for example. The third light source 31 and the fourth light source 32 are each a semiconductor light source such as an LED.

[0038] A plurality of third light sources 31 and a plurality of fourth light sources 32 are provided, and are arranged side by side in the left-right direction. Four third light sources 31 are arranged side by side in the left-right direction. The number of third light sources 31 is not limited to four, and may be three or less, or five or more. Three fourth light sources 32 are arranged side by side in the left-right direction, for example, but this is not limited to this, and may be two or less, or four or more. The third light source 31 is arranged below the fourth light source 32. The third light source 31 and the fourth light source 32 are arranged above and below. The third light source 31 and the fourth light source 32 are mounted on the mounting surface 37a of the substrate 37.

[0039] The reflector 33 reflects the light L3 from the third light source 31 toward the projection lens 35. The reflector 33 has a first member 38 and a second member 39 that are fixed and integrally provided. The first member 38 and the second member 39 of the reflector 33 that are integrated are fixed to a holder 36.

[0040] The first reflecting surface 33a of the reflector 33 is provided on the first member 38 and disposed in front of the third light source 31. The first reflecting surface 33a reflects the light L3 upward. The first reflecting surface 33a extends forward from the substrate 37 and has a shape that is curved upward so as to be convex forward. The first reflecting surface 33a is formed of a free-form surface based on, for example, an ellipse or a paraboloid. The first reflecting surfaces 33a are provided corresponding to the four third light sources 31, respectively. Note that the first reflecting surfaces 33a are not limited to being provided corresponding to the four third light sources 31, respectively.

[0041] The second reflecting surface 33b of the reflector 33 is provided on the second member 39 and disposed above the fourth light source 32. The second reflecting surface 33b reflects forward the light L3 that arrives from the third light source 31 via the first reflecting surface 33a. The second reflecting surface 33b has, for example, a curved shape that is convex upward. The second reflecting surface 33b is formed of a free-form surface based on, for example, an ellipse, a paraboloid, or a plane. The curvature of the second reflecting surface 33b may be the same as or different from the curvature of the first reflecting surface 33a.

[0042] The second reflecting surface 33b forms an edge portion 40 at its lower end. The edge portion 40 has a first linear portion 40a, an inclined portion 40b, and a second linear portion 40c. The first linear portion 40a and the second linear portion 40c are portions for forming the horizontal cutoff lines CLa and CLc (see FIG. 13, etc.) of the low beam pattern. The inclined portion 40b is a portion for forming the oblique cutoff line CLb (see FIG. 13, etc.) of the low beam pattern.

[0043] The primary lens 34 is disposed in front of the fourth light source 32. The primary lens 34 has an incident surface 34a and an exit surface 34b. A portion of the light from the fourth light source 32 is incident on the incident surface 34a. The exit surface 34b emits the light L4 that is incident on the incident surface 34a.

[0044] The projection lens 35 is disposed in front of the reflector 33. The projection lens 35 is held by the holding portion 36 via a lens holder 45. The projection lens 35 has an incident surface 35a and an exit surface 35b. The incident surface 35a receives light L3 from the reflector 33 and light L4 emitted from the primary lens 34. The exit surface 35b emits the light L3 incident from the incident surface 35a toward the front of the vehicle to form a low beam pattern. The exit surface 35b also emits the light L4 incident from the incident surface 35a toward the front of the vehicle to form a high beam pattern. The projection lens 35 may be provided with a light diffusion portion (not shown) on at least one of the incident surface 35a and the exit surface 35b. This light diffusion portion diffuses the light incident on the incident surface 35a and the light emitted from the exit surface 35b in the left-right or up-down direction.

[0045] The holder 36 has a base portion (another base portion) 36a that supports the substrate 37. The base portion 36a is, for example, flat and is disposed facing forward. The holder 36 dissipates heat generated by the third light source 31 and the fourth light source 32. The holder 36 may be provided with a heat dissipation portion (not shown), such as a fin, on the rear, top, or bottom.

[0046] Next, the operation of the vehicular lamp 100 configured as described above will be described. Figures 12 to 14 show examples of patterns irradiated ahead of the vehicle. In Figures 12 to 14, line HH indicates a horizontal line, and line VV indicates a line parallel to the vertical direction (hereinafter referred to as a vertical line).

[0047] In the first unit 10, when light L1 is emitted from the first light source 11, as shown in FIG. 7, the emitted light L1 is incident on the incident surface 21a of the first lens portion 21 of the primary lens 13. This light L1 is emitted forward from the exit surface 21b without being internally reflected within the first lens portion 21. The light L1 emitted from the exit surface 21b is incident on the incident surface 14a of the projection lens 14 and is emitted forward of the vehicle from the exit surface 14b. The emitted light L1 forms an ADB pattern P11 as shown in FIG. 12(a). Note that the ADB pattern P11 may be formed in a state where it is divided into multiple parts.

[0048] In the first unit 10, when light L2 is emitted from the second light source 12, as shown in FIG. 8, the emitted light L2 is incident on the front incident surface 22a and the side incident surface 22b of the second lens portion 22 of the primary lens 13. The light L2a incident on the front incident surface 22a is emitted forward from the common exit surface 22d without being internally reflected within the second lens portion 22. The light L2b incident on the side incident surface 22b is internally reflected forward by the side reflecting surface 22c and emitted forward from the common exit surface 22d. The light L2a and L2b emitted from the common exit surface 22d are diffused in the left-right direction by the prism portion 22e. The light L2a and L2b form a low beam partial pattern P12 as shown in FIG. 12(b). The low beam partial pattern P12 constitutes a part of the low beam pattern P30, which will be described later.

[0049] Furthermore, when light is emitted from the first light source 11 and the second light source 12 simultaneously, an ADB pattern P11 and a low beam partial pattern P12 are formed in front of the vehicle, as shown in FIG. 12(c).

[0050] Furthermore, in the first unit 10, a portion of the light L2 emitted from the second light source 12 may be incident on the non-emission portion 23 below the second lens portion 22. As shown in FIG. 8, the light L2c incident on the non-emission portion 23 travels forward inside the non-emission portion 23 and is internally reflected, for example, downward or backward by the non-emission surface 23a. This light L2c is not emitted forward from the non-emission portion 23, but is emitted downward, backward, etc., and is absorbed by the light source substrate 16 or the like. Therefore, it is possible to prevent the light from reaching the upward illumination region of the entrance surface 14a of the projection lens 14, thereby suppressing the occurrence of glare light.

[0051] Here, an example of the significance of providing the second lens portion 22 and the non-emitting portion 23 will be described. In a configuration in which the second light source 12 is positioned laterally spaced apart from the first light source 11 without providing the second lens portion 22 and the non-emitting portion 23, if the low-beam partial pattern P12 using the light L2 emitted from the second light source 12 is attempted to be formed closer to the HH line, there is a risk that the light L2 may enter the upper illumination region of the incident surface 14a of the projection lens 14. The light L2 entering the upper illumination region becomes glare light. Therefore, if the second lens portion 22 and the non-emitting portion 23 are not provided, the second light source 12 must be positioned so as to sufficiently suppress the light entering the upper illumination region. In other words, the second light source 12 must be positioned vertically spaced apart from the first light source 11. In contrast, in this embodiment, by providing the second lens portion 22 and the non-emitting portion 23 for the second light source 12, it is possible to prevent the light L2 from the second light source 12 from reaching the upper illumination region of the incident surface 14a of the projection lens 14, even in a configuration in which the second light source 12 is arranged to the left and right of the first light source 11. This improves the degree of freedom in the arrangement of the second light source 12, and makes it possible to easily form the low beam partial pattern P12 at a desired position near the HH line.

[0052] In the second unit 30, when light L3 is emitted from the third light source 31, the emitted light L3 is reflected by the first reflecting surface 33a and the second reflecting surface 33b of the reflector 33 and travels forward, as shown in Fig. 11. The light L3 is incident on the incident surface 35a of the projection lens 35 and is emitted forward of the vehicle from the exit surface 35b. The emitted light L3 forms a low-beam main part pattern P31, as shown in Fig. 13(a), which is provided with a cutoff line CL that includes horizontal cutoff lines CLa, CLc and an oblique cutoff line CLb.

[0053] In the second unit 30, when light L4 is emitted from the fourth light source 32, as shown in Fig. 11, the emitted light L4 is incident on the incident surface 34a of the primary lens 34 and is emitted forward from the exit surface 34b. The light L4 emitted from the exit surface 34b is incident on the incident surface 35a of the projection lens 35 and is emitted forward of the vehicle from the exit surface 35b. The emitted light L4 forms a high beam pattern P32 as shown in Fig. 13(b).

[0054] Furthermore, when light is emitted from the third light source 31 and the fourth light source 32 simultaneously, a low beam main pattern P31 and a high beam partial pattern P32 are formed in front of the vehicle, as shown in FIG. 13(c).

[0055] Furthermore, when light is emitted simultaneously from the second light source 12 of the first unit 10 and the third light source 31 of the second unit 30, a pattern in which the low beam partial pattern P12 and the low beam main pattern P31 are superimposed, i.e., a low beam pattern P30, is formed in front of the vehicle, as shown in Figure 14(a).

[0056] Furthermore, when light is emitted simultaneously from all of the light sources of the first unit 10 and the second unit 30, a pattern P40 is formed in front of the vehicle by superimposing the ADB pattern P11, low beam partial pattern P12, low beam main pattern P31, and high beam pattern P32, as shown in Fig. 14(b). Note that each of the light distribution patterns shown in Figs. 12 to 14 is formed by a vehicle lamp 100 provided on the front right side of the vehicle, and therefore has a shape that is diffused to the right with respect to the VV line. In contrast, a light distribution pattern formed by a vehicle lamp provided on the front left side of the vehicle can have a shape that is diffused to the left with respect to the VV line.

[0057] As described above, the vehicle lamp 100 according to this embodiment includes the first light source 11 arranged on the base portion 15a, the second light source 12 arranged on the base portion 15a at a position spaced apart in the left-right direction from the first light source 11 when the light source is mounted on the vehicle, the first lens portion 21 arranged in front of the first light source 11 and emitting light from the first light source 11 forward, the second lens portion 22 arranged in front of the second light source 12 and emitting light from the second light source 12 forward, and the second lens portion 22 arranged below the second lens portion 22 and emitting light from the second light source 12 forward. a primary lens 13 integrally formed with the non-emitting portion 23 having a non-emitting surface 23a that internally reflects light traveling below the lens portion 22 backward; and a projection lens 14 that irradiates light from a first light source 11 emitted from the primary lens 13 forward of the vehicle to form an ADB pattern P11 above the horizon, and that irradiates light from a second light source 12 emitted from the primary lens 13 forward of the vehicle to form a low beam partial pattern P12 that is a part of a low beam pattern P30 different from the ADB pattern P11.

[0058] According to this configuration, light L1 and light L2 emitted from the first light source 11 and the second light source 12, which are arranged apart in the left-right direction, can be controlled by a single primary lens 13. In this case, light L3 emitted from the second light source 12 and traveling below the second lens portion 22 can be internally reflected backward by the non-emission surface 23a. This prevents light from reaching the upper illumination region of the entrance surface 14a of the projection lens 14, thereby suppressing the occurrence of glare light.

[0059] In the vehicle lamp 100 according to this embodiment, the first lens unit 21 has an incident surface 21a onto which light L1 from the first light source 11 is incident and an exit surface 21b from which the light L1 incident on the incident surface 21a is emitted forward, and is formed so that the light L1 incident on the incident surface 21a is refracted toward the exit surface 21b to prevent internal reflection, and the second lens unit 22 has a front-side incident surface 22a disposed in front of the second light source 12, side incident surfaces 22b disposed so as to surround the left, right, and upper sides of the second light source 12, side reflecting surfaces 22c that internally reflect the light incident from the side incident surface 22b forward, and a common exit surface 22d from which the light incident on the front-side incident surface 22a and the light reflected by the side reflecting surface 22c are emitted. This configuration enables efficient use of the light L1 from the first light source 11 and the light L2 from the second light source 12.

[0060] In the vehicle lamp 100 according to this embodiment, the second lens portion 22 has a prism portion 22e on the common light exit surface 22d that diffuses the emitted light in the left-right direction. With this configuration, the light L2 from the second light source 12 can be easily diffused in the left-right direction.

[0061] In the vehicle lamp 100 according to this embodiment, the first light sources 11 are arranged in a row in the left-right direction, and the second light sources 12 are arranged at positions shifted upward relative to the first light sources 11. This configuration makes it easier for the light L2 from the second light sources 12 to be incident at a higher position on the incident surface 14a of the projection lens 14. This makes it possible to efficiently form a pattern below the horizon ahead of the vehicle.

[0062] The vehicle lamp 100 according to this embodiment further includes a plurality of third light sources 31 arranged on another base portion 36a provided separately from the base portion 15a, a reflector 33 that reflects light L3 from the plurality of third light sources 31 forward, and another projection lens 35 that projects the light L3 reflected by the reflector 33 forward toward the vehicle to form a low-beam main portion pattern P31, which is the main portion of a low-beam pattern P30. With this configuration, the light sources for forming the low-beam pattern P30 are separately arranged between the second light source 12 on the base portion 15a and the plurality of third light sources 31 on the other base portion 36a, thereby ensuring a wide spacing between the plurality of third light sources 31 on the base portion 36a. This allows for sufficient dimensions for the reflector 33, thereby improving the utilization efficiency of the light L3. This also reduces heat generation from the plurality of third light sources 31.

[0063] The vehicle lamp 100 according to this embodiment further includes a fourth light source 32 disposed separately from the third light source 31 on the other base portion 36a, and the other projection lens 35 projects light from the fourth light source 32 forward of the vehicle to form a high beam pattern P32. Because the projection lens 35 forms the low beam main portion pattern P31 and the high beam pattern P32, the number of parts can be reduced.

[0064] The technical scope of the present invention is not limited to the above-described embodiment, and appropriate modifications can be made without departing from the spirit of the present invention. For example, in the above-described embodiment, the second pattern is the low beam pattern P30, and the projection lens 14 forms the low beam partial pattern P12, which is a part of the low beam pattern P30, using light from the second light source. However, the present invention is not limited to this.

[0065] Fig. 15 is a diagram showing another example of a pattern projected ahead of the vehicle. As shown in Fig. 15, the second pattern may be another type of pattern, such as an overhead pattern P50 projected above the horizon. In this case, the projection lens 14 may be configured to form all or part of the overhead pattern P50 using light from the second light source 12. [Explanation of symbols]
