AI Technical Summary

Technical Problem

Existing vehicle braking systems fail to appropriately compensate for output reductions in the first braking unit during minor malfunctions, leading to inconsistent vehicle deceleration and increased operating force, especially in configurations where the first braking unit functions as a brake booster or brake-by-wire device.

Method used

A vehicle braking control device comprising two braking units, where the second unit compensates for output reductions in the first unit by increasing wheel pressure based on the deviation between target and supply pressures, utilizing a communication bus for signal transmission and sensors to detect operation and supply pressures.

Benefits of technology

The system effectively compensates for output reductions in the first braking unit, ensuring consistent vehicle deceleration and maintaining optimal braking performance by adjusting wheel pressure through the second unit, thereby addressing inconsistencies in brake operation.

Abstract

To provide a brake control device that is composed of two units which can appropriately compensate output reduction of a first unit by a second unit when the first unit is abnormal.SOLUTION: A brake control device includes a first unit for outputting a supply pressure according to an operation amount of a brake operation member, a second unit which is provided between the first unit and a wheel cylinder, and increases the supply pressure and outputs a wheel pressure to the wheel cylinder, a communication bus for performing signal transmission between the first unit and the second unit, an operation amount sensor for detecting the operation amount, and a supply pressure sensor for detecting the supply pressure. In the brake control device, the first unit controls the supply pressure so that it approaches a target pressure calculated on the basis of the operation amount. When the first unit is abnormal, the second unit increases the wheel pressure on the basis of a deviation between the target pressure and the supply pressure.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 4
