Abstract

To provide a method for reducing elution of boron from an amorphous refractory while preventing oxidation of carbon.SOLUTION: A raw material composition containing carbon and borosilicate glass as an antioxidant are used as raw materials of an amorphous refractory. It is preferable that the amount of the borosilicate glass blended in terms of boron element is, on an external basis, 0.1-1.0 pt.mass based on 100 pts.mass of the raw material composition. It is preferable to adjust the blending amount of the borosilicate glass according to the particle size of the carbon.SELECTED DRAWING: None

Claims

1. As raw materials for amorphous refractories, a raw material composition containing carbon and borosilicate glass as an antioxidant are used. A method for reducing boron elution from amorphous refractories, wherein the amount of borosilicate glass added, in terms of boron element, is 0.3 to 1.0 parts by mass on an external basis, per 100 parts by mass of the raw material composition.

2. A method for reducing boron elution from amorphous refractories according to claim 1, wherein the amount of borosilicate glass added is adjusted according to the particle size of the carbon.

3. The method for reducing boron elution from amorphous refractories according to claim 1 or 2, wherein the carbon is at least one selected from the group consisting of graphite, carbon black, pitch, and coke.

4. The method for reducing boron elution from amorphous refractories according to claim 1 or 2, wherein the particle size of the borosilicate glass is 0.1 mm or less.

5. A monolithic refractory material is manufactured using a raw material composition containing carbon and borosilicate glass as an antioxidant. A method for producing an unshaped refractory, wherein the amount of borosilicate glass added, in terms of boron element, is 0.3 to 1.0 parts by mass on an external basis, per 100 parts by mass of the raw material composition.
