Abstract

To provide a recording device and a control method of a recording device which can perform recording on media even after all of media are supplied from a roll, even though rear ends of the media are fixed to a core body of the roll.SOLUTION: A recording device 11 comprises a roll holding part 26, a conveying mechanism 20, a recording part 30, a rear end detecting part, a cutting mechanism 57 and a control part 70. The roll holding part 26 holds a roll 25 in which long media 23 are wound up around a core body 24. The conveying mechanism 20 conveys the media 23 supplied from the roll 25, in a conveying direction along a conveyance path 29. The recording part 30 performs recording on the conveyed media 23. The rear end detecting part detects that all of the media 23 that can be supplied from the roll 25 have been supplied by the conveying mechanism 20. The cutting mechanism 57 cuts the media 23, in a crossing direction X crossing the conveying direction, at a position between the roll holding part 26 and the recording part 30. The control part 70 makes the cutting mechanism 57 cut the media 23, on the basis of information on detected rear ends from the rear end detecting part.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 2
