AI Technical Summary

Technical Problem

Conventional smoking products face issues such as charring of packaging materials due to high temperatures, production of significant gases like carbon monoxide and carbon dioxide, and poor aerosolization of aerosol-forming components, which detract from the smoking experience and flavor delivery.

Method used

An aerosol delivery device with a sliding and lateral rotation mechanism for a removable and replaceable cartridge, featuring a first and second body portion that allow sliding and rotational movement for easy insertion and removal of the cartridge, along with a plunger assembly for ejection and seating, and elastic members for retention, ensuring easy use and effective aerosol formation.

Benefits of technology

The device provides a user-friendly smoking experience by preventing packaging charring and improving aerosolization, while maintaining flavor integrity and reducing harmful gas emissions.

Abstract

The present disclosure relates to an aerosol delivery device and holder for use with a removable substrate cartridge. The holder may include a first body portion and a second body portion. The first body portion may define a longitudinal axis, a rotational axis, and an aerosol passageway. The second body portion may include a cartridge receiving chamber and may be configured to slide along the longitudinal axis and rotate about the rotational axis relative to the first body portion between a use position in which at least a portion of the second body portion is received by the first body portion and the substrate cartridge is held in the receiving chamber, and an open position in which the second body portion rotates relative to the first body portion and extends away from the first body portion so that the substrate cartridge can be inserted into or removed from the receiving chamber.
