AI Technical Summary
Existing sensor modules fail to accurately identify the position of deformation in flexible base materials, which is crucial for electronic devices like smartphones, as they lack the capability to differentiate between deformation areas without covering the entire surface with sensors.
A sensor module comprising a flexible base material with a first piezoelectric film uniaxially stretched and oriented in a specific direction, positioned on the lower surface, which outputs distinct signals based on deformation, allowing an arithmetic circuit to determine the deformation area by analyzing signal polarity when pressed, without needing to cover the entire surface.
Enables accurate identification of deformation positions on flexible base materials, enhancing the sensitivity and area coverage of deformation detection compared to traditional methods, allowing for more precise user interaction and device functionality.

[0013] [First Embodiment] A sensor module 1 according to a first embodiment of the present invention will be described below with reference to the drawings. Fig. 1 is a cross-sectional view of an electronic device EE including a sensor module 1 according to the first embodiment, viewed from the right. Fig. 2 is a diagram showing the configuration of a first sensor 12a. Fig. 3 is a diagram showing a flexible substrate 11 and the first sensor 12a viewed from above.
[0014] In this embodiment, directions are defined as follows. As shown in FIG. 1 , the direction in which the upper main surface UF11 and the lower main surface DF11 of the flexible substrate 11 are arranged in this order is defined as the downward direction. The direction in which the lower main surface DF11 and the upper main surface UF11 are arranged in this order is defined as the upward direction. The up-down direction coincides with the thickness direction of the flexible substrate 11. As shown in FIG. 3 , the direction parallel to the direction in which the long sides of the flexible substrate 11 extend is defined as the left-right direction. The left-right direction is perpendicular to the up-down direction. The direction parallel to the direction in which the short sides of the flexible substrate 11 extend is defined as the front-rear direction. The front-rear direction is perpendicular to the up-down direction and the left-right direction. However, the up-down direction, the left-right direction, and the front-rear direction are directions defined for the purpose of explanation. Therefore, the up-down direction, the left-right direction, and the front-rear direction during actual use of the sensor module 1 do not necessarily coincide with the up-down direction, the left-right direction, and the front-rear direction in this embodiment. In this embodiment, the top view refers to the state when the flexible substrate 11 is viewed downward.
[0015] In this embodiment, the sensor module 1 is a module provided in an electronic device EE such as a smartphone, as shown in Fig. 1. As shown in Figs. 1 to 3, the sensor module 1 includes a flexible substrate 11, a first sensor 12a, and an arithmetic circuit 13.
[0016] 1 and 3, the flexible substrate 11 has an upper principal surface UF11 and a lower principal surface DF11 that are aligned in the thickness direction of the flexible substrate 11. The upper principal surface UF11 and the lower principal surface DF11 are aligned in this order in the downward direction. The upper principal surface UF11 and the lower principal surface DF11 each have a rectangular shape that includes front and rear sides extending in the left-right direction and left and right sides extending in the front-to-back direction.
[0017] The flexible substrate 11 is flexible. Therefore, the flexible substrate 11 is deformed by an external force applied to the flexible substrate 11. For example, as shown in FIG. 1 , a user 200 presses the upper main surface UF11 of the flexible substrate 11 downward. The downward force applied to the flexible substrate 11 causes the flexible substrate 11 to deform. The flexible substrate 11 is, for example, a substrate having electronic components such as an organic EL display or a circuit board.
[0018] As shown in Fig. 3, the first sensor 12a has a rectangular shape with long sides extending in the front-rear direction and short sides extending in the left-right direction. The first sensor 12a is smaller than the flexible substrate 11. As shown in Fig. 2, the first sensor 12a includes an upper electrode 120, a first piezoelectric film 121a, a lower electrode 122, a charge amplifier (not shown), and an AD converter (not shown).
[0019] 2 and 3, the first piezoelectric film 121a has a sheet shape with short sides extending in the left-right direction and long sides extending in the front-rear direction when viewed in the thickness direction of the flexible substrate 11. The first piezoelectric film 121a has a first piezoelectric film upper main surface SF1 and a first piezoelectric film lower main surface SF2 that are aligned in the thickness direction of the flexible substrate 11, as shown in FIG.
[0020] The first piezoelectric film 121a generates a charge corresponding to the deformation amount of the first piezoelectric film 121a. Specifically, the first piezoelectric film 121a generates a charge corresponding to the differential value of the displacement of the first piezoelectric film 121a. The first piezoelectric film 121a has piezoelectricity in which molecules are oriented by uniaxial stretching. For example, the first piezoelectric film 121a is a film formed from a chiral polymer. An example of a chiral polymer is polylactic acid (PLA), particularly poly-L-lactic acid (PLLA). PLLA, which is made of a chiral polymer, has a helical main chain structure. PLLA has piezoelectricity in which molecules are oriented by uniaxial stretching. The first piezoelectric film 121a has a piezoelectric constant of d14. Hereinafter, the direction in which the molecules of the first piezoelectric film 121a are oriented is defined as a first orientation direction ODa.
[0021] In this embodiment, as shown in FIG. 3 , the first sensor 12a is disposed such that the first orientation direction ODa is parallel to the front-to-rear direction. The first orientation direction ODa forms an angle of 0 degrees or 180 degrees with respect to the front-to-rear direction. This 0 degree angle includes, for example, an angle of approximately 0 degrees ±10 degrees. Similarly, this 180 degrees includes, for example, an angle of approximately 180 degrees ±10 degrees. The first piezoelectric film 121a has a characteristic that the polarity of the charge generated when the first piezoelectric film 121a is stretched in the right-front direction or the left-rear direction is opposite to the polarity of the charge generated when the first piezoelectric film 121a is stretched in the right-rear direction or the left-front direction. For example, the first piezoelectric film 121a generates a negative charge when stretched in the right-front direction or the left-rear direction. The first piezoelectric film 121a generates a positive charge when compressed in the right-front direction or the left-rear direction. The first piezoelectric film 121a generates a positive charge when stretched, for example, in a right-rear or left-front direction. The first piezoelectric film 121a generates a negative charge when compressed, for example, in a right-rear or left-front direction. The magnitude of the generated charge depends on the differential value of the deformation of the first piezoelectric film 121a due to the stretching or compression.
[0022] The upper electrode 120 is a ground electrode. The upper electrode 120 is electrically connected to a ground potential. The upper electrode 120 has upper and lower main surfaces aligned in the thickness direction of the flexible substrate 11. The upper electrode 120 is fixed to the upper main surface SF1 of the first piezoelectric film by an adhesive (not shown). The upper electrode 120 covers the upper main surface SF1 of the first piezoelectric film.
[0023] The lower electrode 122 is a signal electrode. The lower electrode 122 has upper and lower principal surfaces aligned in the thickness direction of the flexible substrate 11. The lower electrode 122 is fixed to the lower principal surface SF2 of the first piezoelectric film with an adhesive (not shown). As shown in FIG. 2 , the lower electrode 122 covers the lower principal surface SF2 of the first piezoelectric film.
[0024] The charge amplifier converts the charge generated by the first piezoelectric film 121a into a voltage signal, and the AD converter generates a first signal Sig1 by AD converting the voltage signal.
[0025] The first sensor 12a is provided on the lower main surface DF11 of the flexible substrate 11. The first sensor 12a is fixed to the lower main surface DF11 of the flexible substrate 11 with an adhesive (not shown). This allows the first sensor 12a to expand and contract in the forward, backward, leftward, or rightward direction in accordance with the deformation of the flexible substrate 11. The first sensor 12a outputs a first signal Sig1 corresponding to the deformation of the flexible substrate 11.
[0026] In this embodiment, the first sensor 12a is disposed near the center in the left-right direction of the flexible substrate 11. Specifically, as shown in Fig. 3, a first center line CB1 is defined as a line that passes through a midpoint CP1 of the front edge of the lower principal surface DF11 and extends in the front-rear direction. The first sensor 12a overlaps with the first center line CB1 when viewed in the thickness direction of the flexible substrate 11.
[0027] In this embodiment, the first sensor 12a is located in front of the flexible substrate 11. Specifically, as shown in FIG. 3 , a center of gravity G12a of the first sensor 12a is defined. Also, a center of gravity G11 of the flexible substrate 11 is defined. When viewed in the thickness direction of the flexible substrate 11, the center of gravity G12a of the first sensor 12a is located in front of the center of gravity G11 of the flexible substrate 11. In this specification, the center of gravity G12a of the first sensor 12a or the center of gravity G11 of the flexible substrate 11 means the center of gravity in a top view, unless otherwise specified. Therefore, the center of gravity in this specification refers to the center of gravity in a two-dimensional plane.
[0028] 3, the area located to the right of the center of gravity G12a of the first sensor 12a is defined as a right area ArR. Similarly, the area located to the left of the center of gravity G12a of the first sensor 12a is defined as a left area ArL. In this embodiment, the right area ArR is located to the right and rear of the center of gravity G12a of the first sensor 12a when viewed in the thickness direction of the flexible substrate 11. The left area ArL is located to the left and rear of the center of gravity G12a of the first sensor 12a when viewed in the thickness direction of the flexible substrate 11.
[0029] In the configuration shown above, the polarity of the first signal Sig1 output from the first sensor 12a with respect to the reference potential VF when the right area ArR is pressed downward is different from the polarity of the first signal Sig1 output from the first sensor 12a with respect to the reference potential VF when the left area ArL is pressed downward. This will be explained below with reference to the drawings.
[0030] FIG. 4A is a diagram showing an example of the first signal Sig1 output from the first sensor 12a when the left region ArL is deformed. FIG. 4B is a diagram showing an example of the first signal Sig1 output from the first sensor 12a when the right region ArR is deformed. The horizontal axis of the graphs in FIGS. 4A and 4B represents time. The vertical axis of the graphs in FIGS. 4A and 4B represents the output value of the first signal Sig1. Time t1 in FIGS. 4A and 4B is the time when the user 200 starts pressing the flexible substrate 11. Time t2 in FIGS. 4A and 4B is the time after time t1 and when the user 200 stops pressing the flexible substrate 11. Time t3 in FIGS. 4A and 4B is a time after time t2.
[0031] For example, at time t1 shown in FIG. 4A , the user 200 presses the left area ArL, causing the first piezoelectric film 121a to expand in a left-rear direction. In this case, the first piezoelectric film 121a outputs a positive charge. Therefore, as shown in FIG. 4A , the first sensor 12a outputs a first signal Sig1 having a positive polarity with respect to the reference potential VF between time t1 and time t2. Next, at time t2, the user 200 stops pressing the left area ArL. At this time, the first sensor 12a attempts to return to its original shape due to stress generated in the first sensor 12a. This stress causes the first piezoelectric film 121a to compress in a right-front direction. In this case, the first piezoelectric film 121a outputs a negative charge. Therefore, at time t3 after time t2, the first sensor 12a outputs a first signal Sig1 having a negative polarity with respect to the reference potential VF, as shown in FIG. 4A .
[0032] On the other hand, when the user 200 presses the right area ArR at time t1 shown in FIG. 4B , the first piezoelectric film 121a is stretched in a right-rear direction. In this case, the first piezoelectric film 121a outputs a negative charge. Therefore, the first sensor 12a outputs a first signal Sig1 having a negative polarity with respect to the reference potential VF between time t1 and time t2, as shown in FIG. 4A . Next, when the user 200 stops pressing the right area ArR at time t2, the first sensor 12a attempts to return to its original shape due to stress generated in the first sensor 12a. This stress compresses the first piezoelectric film 121a in a left-front direction. In this case, the first piezoelectric film 121a outputs a positive charge. Therefore, the first sensor 12a outputs a first signal Sig1 having a positive polarity with respect to the reference potential VF at time t3, which is after time t2, as shown in FIG. 4B .
[0033] 1, the arithmetic circuit 13 is provided on the lower main surface DF11 of the flexible substrate 11. For example, if the flexible substrate 11 is a substrate having electronic components such as an organic EL display or a circuit board, the arithmetic circuit 13 is provided on the circuit board. The arithmetic circuit 13 is, for example, a CPU (Central Processing Unit).
[0034] The arithmetic circuit 13 receives the first signal Sig1 output by the first sensor 12a. The arithmetic circuit 13 executes a process (hereinafter referred to as process P) to identify the position where the flexible substrate 11 is pressed downward based on the first signal Sig1 output by the first sensor 12a. Process P will be described in detail below with reference to the drawings. Figure 5 is a flowchart showing an example of the process performed by the arithmetic circuit 13.
[0035] For example, when the arithmetic circuit 13 receives the first signal Sig1, it starts the process P (FIG. 5: START). After the start, the arithmetic circuit 13 determines the polarity of the first signal Sig1 with respect to the reference potential VF (FIG. 6: step S11).
[0036] Next, the arithmetic circuit 13 determines whether the right region ArR or the left region ArL has deformed based on the first signal Sig1 ( FIG. 5 : step S12). In this embodiment, the arithmetic circuit 13 determines whether the right region ArR or the left region ArL has deformed based on the polarity of the first signal Sig1 with respect to the reference potential VF. For example, as shown in FIG. 4A , the arithmetic circuit 13 determines that the left region ArL has deformed when it receives a first signal Sig1 with a positive polarity with respect to the reference potential VF and then receives a first signal Sig1 with a negative polarity with respect to the reference potential VF. On the other hand, as shown in FIG. 4B , the arithmetic circuit 13 determines that the right region ArR has deformed when it receives a first signal Sig1 with a negative polarity with respect to the reference potential VF and then receives a first signal Sig1 with a positive polarity with respect to the reference potential VF.
[0037] By executing the processes of steps S11 and S12, the arithmetic circuit 13 completes the process P (FIG. 5: END).
[0038] (Effect) The sensor module 1 can identify the position of deformation of the flexible substrate 11 without providing the first sensors 12a on the entire lower main surface DF11 of the flexible substrate 11. Specifically, the first piezoelectric film 121a is uniaxially stretched and has piezoelectricity in which molecules are oriented in a first alignment direction ODa. The first sensors 12a are arranged so that the first alignment direction ODa is parallel to the front-to-rear direction. The first sensors 12a overlap the first center line CB1 when viewed in the thickness direction of the flexible substrate 11. In the above configuration, the polarity of the first signal Sig1 output from the first sensor 12a with respect to the reference potential VF when the right region ArR is pressed downward differs from the polarity of the first signal Sig1 output from the first sensor 12a with respect to the reference potential VF when the left region ArL is pressed downward. Therefore, the arithmetic circuit 13 can determine whether the user 200 has pressed the right area ArR or the left area ArL by determining the polarity of the first signal Sig1.
[0039] In this embodiment, the center of gravity G12a of the first sensor 12a is located in front of the center of gravity G11 of the flexible substrate 11 when viewed in the thickness direction of the flexible substrate 11. As a result, the areas of the right region ArR and the left region ArL are larger than the areas of the right region and the left region in a sensor module (hereinafter referred to as Comparative Example 1) in which the center of gravity of the first sensor coincides with the center of gravity of the flexible substrate. Therefore, the arithmetic circuit 13 can identify deformation of the flexible substrate 11 in a larger area than in Comparative Example 1.
[0040] [Modification 1] A sensor module 1a according to Modification 1 will be described below with reference to the drawings. Fig. 6 is a top view of the first sensor 12a provided in the sensor module 1a. Note that only the parts of the configuration of the sensor module 1a that are different from the configuration of the sensor module 1 will be described, and descriptions of the parts that are the same as the configuration of the sensor module 1 will be omitted.
[0041] 6, the sensor module 1a differs from the sensor module 1 in that the long sides of the flexible substrate 11 extend in the front-to-rear direction and the short sides of the flexible substrate 11 extend in the left-to-right direction. The sensor module 1a has the same effects as the sensor module 1.
[0042] [Modification 2] A sensor module 1b according to Modification 2 will be described below with reference to the drawings. Fig. 7 is a top view of the first sensor 12a provided in sensor module 1b. Note that only the parts of the configuration of sensor module 1b that are different from the configuration of sensor module 1 will be described, and descriptions of the parts that are the same as the configuration of sensor module 1 will be omitted.
[0043] 7, sensor module 1b differs from sensor module 1 in that first sensor 12a overlaps the outer edge of flexible substrate 11 when viewed in the thickness direction of flexible substrate 11. Specifically, first sensor 12a is in contact with midpoint CP1 of the front edge of lower main surface DF11.
[0044] (Effect) The sensor module 1b makes it easier to identify the position of deformation of the flexible substrate 11. Specifically, the first sensor 12a is in contact with the midpoint CP1 of the front edge of the lower main surface DF11. In the above configuration, the center of gravity G12a of the first sensor 12a in the sensor module 1b is located forward of the center of gravity G12a of the first sensor 12a in the sensor module 1. In this case, the areas of the right region ArR and the left region ArL in the sensor module 1b are larger than the areas of the right region ArR and the left region ArL in the sensor module 1. Therefore, the arithmetic circuit 13 can identify deformation of the flexible substrate 11 in an area larger than that of the sensor module 1.
[0045] [Modification 3] A sensor module 1c according to Modification 3 will be described below with reference to the drawings. Fig. 8 is a top view of the first sensor 12a and the second sensor 12b provided in the sensor module 1c. Note that only the parts of the configuration of the sensor module 1b that are different from the configuration of the sensor module 1 will be described, and descriptions of the parts that are the same as the configuration of the sensor module 1 will be omitted.
[0046] 8, the sensor module 1c differs from the sensor module 1 in that it further includes a second sensor 12b. The second sensor 12b is provided on the lower main surface DF11 of the flexible substrate 11. The second sensor 12b outputs a second signal Sig2 corresponding to the deformation of the flexible substrate 11.
[0047] The second sensor 12b includes a second piezoelectric film 121b. The second piezoelectric film 121b is uniaxially stretched and has piezoelectricity in which molecules are oriented in a second orientation direction ODb. In this modified example, the second sensor 12b is arranged so that the second orientation direction ODb is parallel to the front-to-rear direction. The second sensor 12b overlaps with the first center line CB1 when viewed in the thickness direction of the flexible substrate 11. When viewed in the thickness direction of the flexible substrate 11, the center of gravity G12b of the second sensor 12b is located behind the center of gravity G11 of the flexible substrate 11. In this modified example, the right region ArR is located to the right and in front of the center of gravity G12b. The left region ArL is located to the left and in front of the center of gravity G12b.
[0048] The polarity of the second signal Sig2 output from the second sensor 12b when the right area ArR is pressed downward with respect to the reference potential VF is different from the polarity of the second signal Sig2 output from the second sensor 12b when the left area ArL is pressed downward with respect to the reference potential VF. For example, when the user 200 presses the left area ArL, the second sensor 12b outputs the second signal Sig2 having a negative polarity with respect to the reference potential VF. On the other hand, when the user 200 presses the right area ArR, the second sensor 12b outputs the second signal Sig2 having a positive polarity with respect to the reference potential VF.
[0049] The arithmetic circuit 13 determines whether the right area ArR or the left area ArL has been pressed based on the first signal Sig1 and the second signal Sig2. In this modification, the arithmetic circuit 13 inverts the second signal Sig2 received from the second sensor 12b with respect to the reference potential VF. In this case, when the user 200 presses the left area ArL, the polarity of the first signal Sig1 output from the first sensor 12a becomes the same as the polarity of the second signal Sig2 output from the second sensor 12b. When the user 200 presses the right area ArR, the polarity of the first signal Sig1 output from the first sensor 12a becomes the same as the polarity of the second signal Sig2 output from the second sensor 12b.
[0050] (Effect) The sensor module 1c makes it easier for the sensor module 1c to identify deformation of the flexible substrate 11. For example, in a sensor module without a second sensor (hereinafter referred to as Comparative Example 2), when a user presses the rear end of the right region or the rear end of the left region, the amount of deformation of the first sensor is small. In this case, the signal value output from the first sensor is small in Comparative Example 2. As a result, in Comparative Example 2, the arithmetic circuit may not be able to identify deformation of the flexible member. On the other hand, the sensor module 1c further includes a second sensor 12b. In this case, when the user 200 presses the rear end of the right region ArR or the rear end of the left region ArL, the second sensor 12b deforms. Therefore, the arithmetic circuit 13 can identify the position of deformation of the flexible substrate 11 by using the second signal Sig2, which has an output value greater than that of the first signal Sig1.
[0051] [Modification 4] A sensor module 1d according to Modification 4 will be described below with reference to the drawings. Fig. 9 is a top view of the first sensor 12a and the second sensor 12b provided in the sensor module 1d. Note that only the parts of the configuration of the sensor module 1d that are different from the configuration of the sensor module 1c will be described, and descriptions of the parts that are the same as the configuration of the sensor module 1c will be omitted.
[0052] 9, the front end of the first sensor 12a is in contact with the midpoint CP1 of the front edge of the lower main surface DF11. The rear end of the second sensor 12b is in contact with the midpoint CP2 of the rear edge of the lower main surface DF11. The sensor module 1d has the same effects as the sensor module 1b and the sensor module 1c.
[0053] [Modification 5] A sensor module 1e according to Modification 5 will be described below with reference to the drawings. Fig. 10 is a top view of the first sensor 12a and the second sensor 12b provided in the sensor module 1e. Note that only the parts of the configuration of the sensor module 1e that are different from the configuration of the sensor module 1c will be described, and descriptions of the parts that are the same as the configuration of the sensor module 1c will be omitted.
[0054] In this modification, as shown in FIG. 10 , the second sensor 12b is disposed so that the second alignment direction ODb is parallel to the left-right direction. A straight line that passes through the midpoint CP3 of the right side of the lower main surface DF11 and extends in the left-right direction is defined as a second center line CB2. The second sensor 12b overlaps with the second center line CB2. When viewed in the thickness direction of the flexible substrate 11, the center of gravity G12b of the second sensor 12b is located to the right of the center of gravity G11 of the flexible substrate 11.
[0055] Hereinafter, as shown in FIG. 10 , the area located in front of the center of gravity G12b of the second sensor 12b is defined as a front area ArF. The area located behind the center of gravity G12b of the second sensor 12b is defined as a rear area ArB. In this modified example, the front area ArF includes a right front area ArRF and a left front area ArLF. The right front area ArRF is located to the right and behind the center of gravity G12a. The right front area ArRF is located in front of and to the left of the center of gravity G12b. The left front area ArLF is located to the left and behind the center of gravity G12a. The left front area ArLF is located in front of and to the left of the center of gravity G12b. The rear area ArB includes a right rear area ArRB and a left rear area ArLB. The right rear area ArRB is located to the right and behind the center of gravity G12a. The right rear region ArRB is located behind and to the left of the center of gravity G12b. The left rear region ArLB is located behind and to the left of the center of gravity G12a. The left rear region ArLB is located behind and to the left of the center of gravity G12b. In this modified example, the right region ArR includes the right front region ArRF and the right rear region ArRB. The left region ArL includes the left front region ArLF and the left rear region ArLB.
[0056] In this modification, the polarity of the second signal Sig2 output from the second sensor 12b with respect to the reference potential VF when the front area ArF is pressed downward is different from the polarity of the second signal Sig2 output from the second sensor 12b with respect to the reference potential VF when the rear area ArB is pressed downward. For example, as shown in FIG. 10 , when the right front area ArRF or the left front area ArLF is pressed, the polarity of the second signal Sig2 with respect to the reference potential VF is positive. On the other hand, when the right rear area ArRB or the left rear area ArLB is pressed, the polarity of the second signal Sig2 with respect to the reference potential VF is negative. The arithmetic circuit 13 determines whether the front area ArF or the rear area ArB has been pressed based on the second signal Sig2.
[0057] 10 , when the right front region ArRF is pressed, the polarity of the first signal Sig1 with respect to the reference potential VF is negative, and the polarity of the second signal Sig2 with respect to the reference potential VF is positive. When the left front region ArLF is pressed, the polarity of the first signal Sig1 with respect to the reference potential VF is positive, and the polarity of the second signal Sig2 with respect to the reference potential VF is positive. When the right rear region ArRB is pressed, the polarity of the first signal Sig1 with respect to the reference potential VF is negative, and the polarity of the second signal Sig2 with respect to the reference potential VF is negative. When the left rear region ArLB is pressed, the polarity of the first signal Sig1 with respect to the reference potential VF is positive, and the polarity of the second signal Sig2 with respect to the reference potential VF is negative. Therefore, the calculation circuit 13 in the sensor module 1e can determine which area among the right front area ArRF, the left front area ArLF, the right rear area ArRB, or the left rear area ArLB has been pressed by determining the combination of the polarity of the first signal Sig1 relative to the reference potential VF and the polarity of the second signal Sig2 relative to the reference potential VF.
[0058] [Variation 6] A sensor module 1f according to Variation 6 will be described below with reference to the drawings. Fig. 11 is a top view of the first sensor 12a, the second sensor 12b, the third sensor 12c, and the fourth sensor 12d provided in the sensor module 1f. Note that only the parts of the configuration of sensor module 1f that are different from the configuration of sensor module 1e will be described, and descriptions of the parts that are the same as the configuration of sensor module 1e will be omitted.
[0059] 11 , sensor module 1f differs from sensor module 1e in that it further includes a third sensor 12c and a fourth sensor 12d. The third sensor 12c and the fourth sensor 12d are provided on the lower main surface DF11 of the flexible substrate 11. The third sensor 12c outputs a third signal Sig3 corresponding to the deformation of the flexible substrate 11. The fourth sensor 12d outputs a fourth signal Sig4 corresponding to the deformation of the flexible substrate 11.
[0060] The third sensor 12c includes a third piezoelectric film 121c. The third piezoelectric film 121c is uniaxially stretched to have piezoelectricity in which molecules are oriented in a third alignment direction ODc. In this modification, the third sensor 12c is disposed so that the third alignment direction ODc is parallel to the front-to-rear direction. The third sensor 12c overlaps with the first center line CB1 when viewed in the thickness direction of the flexible substrate 11. When viewed in the thickness direction of the flexible substrate 11, the center of gravity G12c of the third sensor 12c is located behind the center of gravity G11 of the flexible substrate 11. The polarity of the third signal Sig3 output from the third sensor 12c with respect to the reference potential VF when the right region ArR is pressed downward is different from the polarity of the third signal Sig3 output from the third sensor 12c with respect to the reference potential VF when the left region ArL is pressed downward.
[0061] The fourth sensor 12d includes a fourth piezoelectric film 121d. The fourth piezoelectric film 121d is uniaxially stretched and has piezoelectricity in which molecules are oriented in a fourth orientation direction ODd. In this modification, the fourth sensor 12d is disposed so that the fourth orientation direction ODd is parallel to the left-right direction. The fourth sensor 12d overlaps with the second center line CB2 when viewed in the thickness direction of the flexible substrate 11. When viewed in the thickness direction of the flexible substrate 11, the center of gravity G12d of the fourth sensor 12d is located to the left of the center of gravity G11 of the flexible substrate 11. The polarity of the fourth signal Sig4 output from the fourth sensor 12d with respect to the reference potential VF when the front region ArF is pressed downward is different from the polarity of the fourth signal Sig4 output from the fourth sensor 12d with respect to the reference potential VF when the rear region ArB is pressed downward.
[0062] In this modified example, as shown in FIG. 11 , the right front region ArRF is located to the right of and in front of the center of gravity G12c. The right front region ArRF is located in front of and to the right of the center of gravity G12d. The left front region ArLF is located to the left of and in front of the center of gravity G12c. The left front region ArLF is located in front of and to the right of the center of gravity G12d. The right rear region ArRB is located to the right of and in front of the center of gravity G12c. The right rear region ArRB is located behind and to the right of the center of gravity G12d. The left rear region ArLB is located to the left of and in front of the center of gravity G12c. The left rear region ArLB is located behind and to the right of the center of gravity G12d.
[0063] The arithmetic circuit 13 determines whether the right area ArR or the left area ArL has been pressed based on the first signal Sig1 and the third signal Sig3, and also determines whether the front area ArF or the rear area ArB has been pressed based on the second signal Sig2 and the fourth signal Sig4.
[0064] (Effects) The sensor module 1f exhibits the same effects as the sensor modules 1e and 1c.
[0065] [Variation 7] A sensor module 1g according to Variation 7 will be described below with reference to the drawings. Fig. 12 is a top view of the first sensor 12a provided in the sensor module 1g. Note that only the parts of the configuration of the sensor module 1g that are different from the configuration of the sensor module 1 will be described, and descriptions of the parts that are the same as the configuration of the sensor module 1 will be omitted.
[0066] In this modification, the first alignment direction ODa faces rightward and forward. Specifically, as shown in FIG. 12 , the diagonal of the flexible substrate 11 in a top view of the flexible substrate 11 is defined as the first diagonal TK1. In this modification, the first diagonal TK1 connects a right front corner RFA formed by the right edge and front edge of the lower main surface DF11 and a left rear corner LBA formed by the left edge and rear edge of the lower main surface DF11. In this modification, the first sensor 12a is positioned so that the first alignment direction ODa is parallel to the first diagonal TK1. The first sensor 12a overlaps with the first diagonal TK1 when viewed in the thickness direction of the flexible substrate 11. The center of gravity G12a of the first sensor 12a is located forward of the center of gravity G11 of the flexible substrate 11. In this case, when viewed in the thickness direction of the flexible substrate 11, the distance from the center of gravity G12a of the first sensor 12a to the right front corner RFA is shorter than the distance from the center of gravity G11 of the flexible substrate 11 to the right front corner RFA. Hereinafter, the area located in front of the first diagonal line TK1 on the lower principal surface DF11 is defined as the front area ArFF. In this modification, the front area ArFF is surrounded by the first diagonal line TK1, the left side of the lower principal surface DF11, and the front side of the lower principal surface DF11. Similarly, the area located behind the first diagonal line TK1 on the lower principal surface DF11 is defined as the rear area ArBB. In this modification, the rear area ArBB is surrounded by the first diagonal line TK1, the right side, and the rear side of the flexible substrate 11.
[0067] 12 , a first straight line SL1 is defined as extending in a direction parallel to the first alignment direction ODa when viewed in the thickness direction of the flexible substrate 11 and passing through the center of gravity G12a of the first sensor 12a. In this modification, the front region ArFF and the rear region ArBB are located to the left of the first straight line SL1.
[0068] The polarity of the first signal Sig1 output from the first sensor 12a relative to the reference potential VF when the front region ArFF is pressed downward is different from the polarity of the first signal Sig1 output from the first sensor 12a relative to the reference potential VF when the rear region ArBB is pressed downward. The arithmetic circuit 13 determines whether the front region ArFF or the rear region ArBB has been pressed based on the polarity of the first signal Sig1 relative to the reference potential VF. In this modification, the arithmetic circuit 13 determines whether the front region ArFF or the rear region ArBB has been pressed based on the polarity of the first signal Sig1 relative to the reference potential VF. For example, the arithmetic circuit 13 determines that the rear region ArBB has been deformed when receiving the first signal Sig1 with a positive polarity from the first sensor 12a. Furthermore, for example, the arithmetic circuit 13 determines that the front region ArFF has been deformed when receiving the first signal Sig1 with a negative polarity from the first sensor 12a.
[0069] (Effect) For the same reason as the sensor module 1, the sensor module 1g can identify the position where the flexible base material 11 is deformed.
[0070] [Variation 8] A sensor module 1h according to Variation 8 will be described below with reference to the drawings. Fig. 13 is a view of the first sensor 12a provided in the sensor module 1h as viewed from above. Note that only the parts of the configuration of the sensor module 1h that are different from the configuration of the sensor module 1g will be described, and descriptions of the parts that are the same as the configuration of the sensor module 1g will be omitted.
[0071] In this modification, the first sensor 12a is in contact with the outer periphery of the lower main surface DF11 when viewed in the thickness direction of the flexible substrate 11. The outer periphery of the lower main surface DF11 specifically refers to the front edge, rear edge, right edge, or left edge of the lower main surface DF11. In this modification, the first sensor 12a is in contact with the front edge and / or right edge of the lower main surface DF11, as shown in Fig. 13. The sensor module 1h has the same effect as the sensor modules 1g and 1b.
[0072] [Modification 9] A sensor module 1i according to Modification 9 will be described below with reference to the drawings. Fig. 14 is a top view of the first sensor 12a and the second sensor 12b provided in the sensor module 1i. Note that only the parts of the configuration of the sensor module 1i that are different from the configuration of the sensor module 1h will be described, and descriptions of the parts that are the same as the configuration of the sensor module 1h will be omitted.
[0073] In this modification, the sensor module 1i further includes a second sensor 12b. A diagonal line of the flexible substrate 11 in a top view, different from the first diagonal line TK1, is defined as a second diagonal line TK2. In this modification, the second diagonal line TK2 connects a right rear corner RBA formed by the right side and rear side of the lower main surface DF11 with a left front corner LFA formed by the left side and front side of the lower main surface DF11. The second sensor 12b overlaps the second diagonal line TK2 when viewed in the thickness direction of the flexible substrate 11. As shown in FIG. 14 , the second sensor 12b is positioned so that the second alignment direction ODb is parallel to the second diagonal line TK2. The center of gravity G12b of the second sensor 12b is located behind the center of gravity G11 of the flexible substrate 11. In this case, when viewed in the thickness direction of the flexible substrate 11, the distance from the center of gravity G12b of the second sensor 12b to the right rear corner RBA is shorter than the distance from the center of gravity G11 of the flexible substrate 11 to the right rear corner RBA.
[0074] Hereinafter, as shown in FIG. 14 , the region located in front of the first diagonal line TK1 and in front of the second diagonal line TK2 is defined as the front region ArF1. The region located in front of the first diagonal line TK1 and behind the second diagonal line TK2 is defined as the left region ArL1. The region located behind the first diagonal line TK1 and in front of the second diagonal line TK2 is defined as the right region ArR1. The region located behind the first diagonal line TK1 and behind the second diagonal line TK2 is defined as the rear region ArB1. The front region ArF1 is surrounded by the first diagonal line TK1, the second diagonal line TK2, and the front edge of the lower principal surface DF11. The left region ArL1 is surrounded by the first diagonal line TK1, the second diagonal line TK2, and the left edge of the lower principal surface DF11. The right region ArR1 is surrounded by the first diagonal line TK1, the second diagonal line TK2, and the right side of the lower principal surface DF11. The rear region ArB1 is surrounded by the first diagonal line TK1, the second diagonal line TK2, and the rear side of the lower principal surface DF11.
[0075] 14 , a second straight line SL2 is defined as extending in a direction parallel to the second alignment direction ODb when viewed in the thickness direction of the flexible substrate 11 and passing through the center of gravity G12b of the second sensor 12b. In this modification, the front region ArF1, the left region ArL1, the right region ArR1, and the rear region ArB1 are located to the left of the first straight line SL1 and also to the left of the second straight line SL2.
[0076] In this modification, the polarity of the first signal Sig1 output from the first sensor 12a when the front area ArF1 or the left area ArL1 is pressed downward is different from the polarity of the first signal Sig1 output from the first sensor 12a when the rear area ArB1 or the right area ArR1 is pressed downward. The arithmetic circuit 13 determines whether the front area ArF1 or the left area ArL1 has been pressed, or the rear area ArB1 or the right area ArR1 has been pressed, based on the first signal Sig1.
[0077] Furthermore, the polarity of the second signal Sig2 output from the second sensor 12b when the front area ArF1 or the right area ArR1 is pressed downward is different from the polarity of the second signal Sig2 output from the second sensor 12b when the rear area ArB1 or the left area ArL1 is pressed downward. Based on the second signal Sig2, the arithmetic circuit 13 determines whether the front area ArF1 or the right area ArR1 has been pressed, or the left area ArL1 or the rear area ArB1 has been pressed.
[0078] The other configurations of the second sensor 12b in the sensor module 1i are the same as those of the second sensor 12b in the sensor module 1c, and therefore description thereof will be omitted.
[0079] (Effect) For the same reason as the sensor module 1e, the sensor module 1i can identify which of the four areas on the flexible base material 11 has been pressed.
[0080] [Modification 10] A sensor module 1j according to Modification 10 will be described below with reference to the drawings. Fig. 15 is a top view of the first sensor 12a, the second sensor 12b, the third sensor 12c, and the fourth sensor 12d provided in the sensor module 1j. Note that only the parts of the configuration of the sensor module 1j that are different from the configuration of the sensor module 1i will be described, and descriptions of the parts that are the same as the configuration of the sensor module 1i will be omitted.
[0081] As shown in FIG. 15, the sensor module 1j differs from the sensor module 1i in that it includes a third sensor 12c and a fourth sensor 12d.
[0082] In this modification, the third sensor 12c is disposed so that the third alignment direction ODc is parallel to the first diagonal line TK1. The third sensor 12c overlaps the first diagonal line TK1 when viewed in the thickness direction of the flexible substrate 11. The center of gravity G12c of the third sensor 12c is located behind the center of gravity G11 of the flexible substrate 11. When viewed in the thickness direction of the flexible substrate 11, the distance from the center of gravity G12c of the third sensor 12c to the left rear corner LBA is shorter than the distance from the center of gravity G11 of the flexible substrate 11 to the left rear corner LBA. The polarity of the third signal Sig3 output from the third sensor 12c with respect to the reference potential when the front region ArF1 or the left region ArL1 is pressed downward is different from the polarity of the third signal Sig3 with respect to the reference potential when the rear region ArB1 or the right region ArR1 is pressed downward.
[0083] In this modification, the fourth sensor 12d is disposed so that the fourth alignment direction ODd is parallel to the second diagonal line TK2. The fourth sensor 12d overlaps with the second diagonal line TK2 when viewed in the thickness direction of the flexible substrate 11. The center of gravity G12d of the fourth sensor 12d is located behind the center of gravity G11 of the flexible substrate 11. When viewed in the thickness direction of the flexible substrate 11, the distance from the center of gravity G12d of the fourth sensor 12d to the left front corner LFA is shorter than the distance from the center of gravity G11 of the flexible substrate 11 to the left front corner LFA. The polarity of the fourth signal Sig4 output from the fourth sensor 12d with respect to the reference potential when the front region ArF1 or the right region ArR1 is pressed downward is different from the polarity of the fourth signal Sig4 with respect to the reference potential when the rear region ArB1 or the left region ArL1 is pressed downward.
[0084] 15 , a third line SL3 is defined as extending in a direction parallel to the third alignment direction ODc when viewed in the thickness direction of the flexible substrate 11, and passing through the center of gravity G12c of the third sensor 12c. Also, a fourth line SL4 is defined as extending in a direction parallel to the fourth alignment direction ODd when viewed in the thickness direction of the flexible substrate 11, and passing through the center of gravity G12d of the fourth sensor 12d. In this modification, the front region ArF1, the left region ArL1, the right region ArR1, and the rear region ArB1 are located to the right of the third line SL3 and also to the right of the fourth line SL4.
[0085] In this modification, the arithmetic circuit 13 determines whether the front region ArF1 or the left region ArL1 has been pressed, or the rear region ArB1 or the right region ArR1 has been pressed, based on the first signal Sig1 and the third signal Sig3. The arithmetic circuit 13 also determines whether the front region ArF1 or the right region ArR1 has been pressed, or the left region ArL1 or the rear region ArB1 has been pressed, based on the second signal Sig2 and the fourth signal Sig4.
[0086] The other configurations of the third sensor 12c and the fourth sensor 12d in the sensor module 1j are the same as those of the third sensor 12c and the fourth sensor 12d in the sensor module 1f, and therefore a description thereof will be omitted.
[0087] (Effects) The sensor module 1j has the same effects as the sensor module 1i and the sensor module 1f.
[0088] [Other Modifications] The sensor modules 1, 1 to 1i according to the present invention are not limited to the above, and may be modified within the scope of the gist thereof. In addition, the configurations of the sensor modules 1, 1 to 1i may be combined in any manner.
[0089] The flexible substrate 11 does not necessarily have to include an organic EL display and a circuit board. For example, the flexible substrate 11 may include electronic components other than an organic EL display and a circuit board. The flexible substrate 11 may have a square shape when viewed in the thickness direction of the flexible substrate 11.
[0090] The first sensor 12a does not necessarily include a charge amplifier (not shown) and an AD converter (not shown). For example, the electronic device EE may include the charge amplifier and the AD converter. In this case, the arithmetic circuit 13 receives the first signal Sig1 after conversion by the charge amplifier and the AD converter included in the electronic device EE.
[0091] In addition, in the sensor module 1, as long as the first sensor 12a overlaps with the first center line CB1 when viewed in the thickness direction of the flexible substrate 11, the center of gravity G12a of the first sensor 12a does not necessarily have to overlap with the first center line CB1 when viewed in the thickness direction of the flexible substrate 11.
[0092] In the sensor modules 1 and 1a, the center of gravity G12a of the first sensor 12a may be located behind the center of gravity G11 of the flexible substrate 11 when viewed in the thickness direction of the flexible substrate 11.
[0093] In the sensor module 1b, the first sensor 12a may be in contact with the midpoint of the rear side of the lower main surface DF11.
[0094] In the sensor module 1c, the second alignment direction ODb may coincide with the forward direction. In this case, the arithmetic circuit 13 does not invert the output of the second signal Sig2 with respect to the reference potential VF. This allows the sensor module 1d to achieve the same effect as when the second alignment direction ODb coincides with the backward direction. Similarly, in the sensor module 1d, the second alignment direction ODb may coincide with the forward direction.
[0095] In the sensor module 1e, the front end of the first sensor 12a may be in contact with the midpoint CP1 of the front edge of the lower main surface DF11, and the right end of the second sensor 12b may be in contact with the midpoint CP3 of the right edge of the flexible substrate 11. This allows the sensor module 1e to achieve the same effect as the sensor module 1b.
[0096] In sensor module 1f, the front end of first sensor 12a may be in contact with midpoint CP1 of the front edge of lower main surface DF11, the right end of second sensor 12b may be in contact with midpoint CP3 of the right edge of flexible substrate 11, the rear end of third sensor 12c may be in contact with the midpoint of the rear edge of lower main surface DF11, and the left end of fourth sensor 12d may be in contact with the midpoint of the left edge of lower main surface DF11. In this case, sensor module 1f has the same effect as sensor module 1b.
[0097] The sensor module 1h may include a second sensor 12b that overlaps the first diagonal line TK1 when viewed in the thickness direction of the flexible substrate 11 and is arranged so that the second alignment direction ODb is parallel to the first diagonal line TK1. The center of gravity G12b of the second sensor 12b is located behind the center of gravity G11 of the flexible substrate 11. In this case, when viewed in the thickness direction of the flexible substrate 11, the distance from the center of gravity G12b of the second sensor 12b to the left rear corner LBA is shorter than the distance from the center of gravity G11 of the flexible substrate 11 to the left rear corner LBA. In this sensor module 1h, the polarity of the second signal Sig2 output from the second sensor 12b with respect to the reference potential VF when the front region ArFF is pressed downward differs from the polarity of the second signal Sig2 output from the second sensor 12b with respect to the reference potential VF when the rear region ArBB is pressed downward. The arithmetic circuit 13 determines whether the front area ArFF or the rear area ArBB has been pressed based on the first signal Sig1 and the second signal Sig2. With the above configuration, the sensor module 1h has the same effect as the sensor module 1c.
[0098] In the sensor module 1h, the first sensor 12a may be in contact with the front side and the right side of the lower main surface DF11.
[0099] When the sensor module 1h includes the second sensor 12b, the first sensor 12a and the second sensor 12b may each be in contact with the outer periphery of the lower main surface DF11 when viewed in the thickness direction of the flexible substrate 11. For example, the first sensor 12a may be in contact with the right side and / or the front side of the lower main surface DF11, and the second sensor 12b may be in contact with the left side and / or the rear side of the lower main surface DF11, thereby allowing the sensor module 1h to achieve the same effect as the sensor module 1d.
[0100] In the sensor module 1 h , the first sensor 12 a may be in contact with the rear side and / or the left side of the flexible substrate 11 .
[0101] In the sensor module 1i, the first sensor 12a and the second sensor 12b may each be in contact with the outer periphery of the lower main surface DF11 when viewed in the thickness direction of the flexible substrate 11. For example, the first sensor 12a may be in contact with the front edge and / or the right edge of the lower main surface DF11, and the second sensor 12b may be in contact with the rear edge and / or the right edge of the lower main surface DF11. Such a sensor module 1i provides the same effects as the sensor module 1b.
[0102] In sensor module 1j, each of first sensor 12a, second sensor 12b, third sensor 12c, and fourth sensor 12d may be in contact with the outer periphery of lower main surface DF11 when viewed in the thickness direction of flexible substrate 11. For example, first sensor 12a may be in contact with the front edge and / or right edge of lower main surface DF11, second sensor 12b may be in contact with the rear edge and / or right edge of lower main surface DF11, third sensor 12c may be in contact with the rear edge and / or left edge of lower main surface DF11, and fourth sensor 12d may be in contact with the front edge and / or left edge of lower main surface DF11. In this case, sensor module 1j achieves the same effect as sensor module 1h.
[0103] The present invention has the following structure:
