[0045] eXtended Reality, such as AR / VR techniques, emerges in multiple use cases, including immersive gaming, Smart Transport, collaborative and concurrent engineering, among others. From a wireless connection perspective, these cases are expected to be supported by an enhanced NR wireless network, which necessitates properties like high capacity, both in terms of data rate and low network latency.
[0046] In some embodiments, to effectively manage multiple DL / UL data streams, each with distinct Quality of Service (QoS) requirements, such as a video stream and a haptic stream, it may be needed to address their varying latency and reliability needs. In some embodiments, one approach is to multiplex these data streams, transmitting them separately and simultaneously using, for example, separate resources (e.g., PDSCHs (physical downlink shared channels) or separate PUSCHs (physical uplink shared channels) ) . In such a case, the PDSCH / PUSCH scheduled for the high-priority data may pre-empt resources initially allocated for the PDSCH / PUSCH for the low-priority data. As a result, the performance of the low-priority PDSCH / PUSCH may be affected.
[0047] In some embodiments of the present disclosure, to overcome this challenge, dynamic resource allocation and priority-based scheduling algorithms can be employed. These techniques enable real-time adjustments in resource allocation based on the QoS demands of each data stream, ensuring that high-priority streams have necessary resources to transmit meanwhile without significantly impacting the performance of lower-priority streams. In some embodiments, by employing adaptive modulation and coding as well as prioritized physical channel, resource utilization can be further optimized, leading to improved overall efficiency when handling multiple data streams with diverse QoS requirements.
[0048] In some embodiments, multiple ways to implement simultaneous transmission / reception of multiple data streams may be adopted that partial resource of a lower priority PDSCH / PUSCH is preempted / occupied by a higher priority PDSCH / PUSCH under specific timeline requirements.
[0049] Consequently, the transmission of low priority PDSCH / PUSCH may be impacted.
[0050] In some embodiments of the present disclosure, some methods are provided. For example:
[0051] For downlink, the UE (user equipment) can receive entire or a part of the PDSCH after the overlapping slot.
[0052] For uplink, the UE can transmit / or retransmit entire or a part of the PUSCH after the overlapping slot.
[0053] With such a configuration, the resource usage efficiency by multiplexing two data streams at same time may be improved, and the reliability requirement of the low priority data can be met.
[0054] One use case is provided as below, but the present disclosure is not limited to this use case.
[0055] A UE may need to receive the first data (e.g., the periodic video stream (e.g., periodicity = 16.67ms) ) , and to receive the second data (e.g., the dense haptic stream (the haptic stream can be equivalent to the periodic stream (e.g., periodicity = 1ms) ) ) .
[0056] If the volume of the first data is large, the entire bandwidth may be used / allocated to transfer first data (see FIG. 1) . If the second data with a higher priority than the priority of the first data needs to be delivered timely, one way is to preempt a part of the resource from the bandwidth which has been allocated to the first data.
[0057] In some embodiments, there are different methods that can achieve it. In the following paragraphs, the downlink transmission is taken as an example, but the methods can also be used for the uplink transmission.
[0058] Method (1) :
[0059] At the time-frequency location of the overlapping REs (or resource) , the UE does not expect to receive the first data / aPDSCH (e.g., a part of the PDSCH conveyed via overlapping REs is dropped) , and the UE expects to receive the second data / aPDSCH.
[0060] As shown in FIG. 1, the PDSCH scheduled for the second data preempts, and a part of the PDSCH scheduled for the first data is dropped in slot 3.
[0061] Method (2) :
[0062] Referring to FIG. 2, for the time-frequency location of the overlapping REs (or resource) , the UE expects to receive the PDSCH scheduled for the second data.
[0063] In this case, the resource for both the first PDSCH and the second PDSCH are allocated in a same slot (referred to as rate matching) .
[0064] In this case, no partial PDSCH for the first data is dropped, but the full PDSCH for the first data is mapped to resource not scheduled for the second data (in case of Method (1) described above, it might be too late to rate match the full PDSCH for the first data, and thus, a part of the PDSCH for the first data may need to be dropped) .
[0065] In some embodiments, both Method (1) or Method (2) may cause performance loss to the PDSCH used for the first data. In some embodiments, solutions to moderate this deterioration of reliability of the PDSCH used for the first data is provided.
[0066] In some embodiments of the present disclosure, the first resource indicates the resource (e.g., physical channel (such as PDSCH or PUSCH) ) for the first data.
[0067] In some embodiments of the present disclosure, the second resource indicates the resource (e.g., physical channel (such as PDSCH or PUSCH) ) for the second data.
[0068] In some embodiments of the present disclosure, a priority of the second resource may be higher than a priority of the first resource.
[0069] In some embodiments of the present disclosure, the first resource and / or the second resource may be scheduled by control signaling (e.g., DCI (Downlink Control Information) ) respectively.
[0070] In some embodiments of the present disclosure, a priority of the control signaling scheduling the second resource is higher than a priority of the control signaling scheduling the first resource.
[0071] In the paragraphs below, many aspects of the present disclosure will be provided by taking the downlink transmission as an example, but the methods and configurations described below can also be applied to the uplink transmission. In the paragraphs below, to facilitate understanding, the first resource is referred to as first PDSCH, and the second resource is referred to as second PDSCH, but the first and second resources are not limited thereto.
[0072] Aspect A: Whether to transmit / receive third PDSCH
[0073] In some embodiments, the third resource may be used for the first data after the overlapping slot (e.g., the slot that both of the first resource and the second resource scheduled at) . In some embodiments, at least one of the TBS (Transport Block Size) (e.g., the size of the resource (e.g., the size of the time and frequency domain resources) , the DMRS (demodulation reference signal) , and / or the power of the third PDSCH is identical to the first resource in the overlapping slot. In some embodiments, the configurations of the third resource are identical to a part of the first resource in the overlapping slot.
[0074] Referring to FIG. 3 and FIG. 4, in some embodiments, the gNB (gNodeB) may transmit the third resource (e.g., the third PDSCH) (the TBS of which is identical to the first PDSCH (see FIG. 3) or a part of the first PDSCH (see FIG. 4) after the overlapping slot to improve the reliability of the first PDSCH. In some embodiments, the delay requirement of the first data is relatively relaxed.
[0075] Aspect A-1:
[0076] In some embodiments, the gNB can schedule the third PDSCH via the dynamic grant directly if the gNB determines it is needed. The size of the third PDSCH can be a part of the first PDSCH. In some embodiments, the UE receives the third PDSCH based on the control signaling (e.g., the DCI) received from the gNB. In some embodiments, the DCI scheduling the third PDSCH may be received at slot 5 in FIG. 3 or FIG. 4, but may also be received at another slot (e.g., slot 4 in FIG. 3 or FIG. 4) .
[0077] In an embodiment, one or more bit fields in the DCI scheduling the third PDSCH is reserved. In an embodiment, the one or more bit fields comprises at least one of:
[0078] the bit field (s) related to the TBS determination (e.g., including the time domain resource allocation, the frequency domain resource allocation, the CBGTI (Code Block Group Transmission Information) , the MCS (Modulation Coding Scheme) , etc. ) ;
[0079] the bit field (s) related to the DMRS port indication; and / or
[0080] the bit field (s) related to related to the power control indication.
[0081] In an embodiment, the DCI scheduling the third PDSCH comprises an indication (e.g., 1 bit) indicating that a part of the first PDSCH is preempted at an overlapping slot.
[0082] In an embodiment, the DCI scheduling the third PDSCH comprises an indication (e.g., 1 bit) indicating that the entire of the first PDSCH is preempted at an overlapping slot.
[0083] In an embodiment, the UE may receive the transmission of the third PDSCH in the slot when the DCI scheduling the third PDSCH is received.
[0084] In an embodiment, the one or more reserved bit fields in the DCI scheduling the third PDSCH described above may be used as the indication indicating that the entire or a part of the first PDSCH is preempted at an overlapping slot.
[0085] For example, one or more of the reserved bit fields indicates a part of or the entire of the first PDSCH is preempted at an overlapping slot. e.g., by set the bit field of the Time-Frequency domain resource allocation as all “1” .
[0086] In an embodiment, the UE monitors PDCCH and expects to receive the DCI from the gNB in certain time domain location (e.g., at slot 5 in FIG. 3 or FIG. 4) after the overlapping slot.
[0087] With such a configuration, the UE power consumption can be reduced due to the reduction of blind detecting and / or decoding the PDCCH.
[0088] In an embodiment, the inactivity timer (e.g., an DRX (Discontinuous Reception) inactivity timer) corresponding to a time scheduled for the first or second scheduled resource for keeping the UE active may be extended in response to the operation of multiplexing PDSCHs / PUSCHs in same slot (e.g., the overlapping between the first and second resource) .
[0089] With such a configuration, the extra latency for receiving the third resource can be avoid, due to the UE does not need to monitor the PDCCH until the next DRX_on period.
[0090] Aspect A-2:
[0091] In an embodiment, if a certain condition is met, the gNB and the UE may use the third resource in an implicit way without using additional control signaling indicating the use of the third resource. For example, if a certain condition is met, the third PDSCH is scheduled from the gNB to the UE in an implicit way, and the UE expects to receive the third PDSCH without additional DCI at the receiving slot (e.g., in slot 5) .
[0092] In one embodiment, the condition includes, a high layer parameter is configured, which enables / disables the use of the third resource.
[0093] In one embodiment, the condition includes, the UE receives high priority DCI scheduling the second PDSCH which overlap in time with the first PDSCH scheduled by low priority DCI, and the UE executes Method (1) or Method (2) described above.
[0094] In one embodiment, the condition includes the overlapping resource of the first PDSCH with the second PDSCH exceeds a first threshold (e.g., a percentage of the overlapping REs) . For example, when the overlapping resource of the first PDSCH with the second PDSCH does not exceed the first threshold, the UE may be able to successfully decode the first data in the first PDSCH through Forward error correction (FEC) .
[0095] In one embodiment, if the overlapping resource exceed a first threshold (e.g., a significant part of the first PDSCH allocated to the first data is preempted) , the UE does not receive first PDSCH that is allocated in overlapping slot.
[0096] In one embodiment, the condition includes the constraint of timing for the HARQ-ACK (hybrid automatic repeat request acknowledgment) responding the first PDSCH exceeds a threshold (e.g., the delay budget of the HARQ-ACK transmission exceeds a threshold) .
[0097] In one embodiment, the condition includes, the UE is able to delay the HARQ-ACK report. For example, K1 can be replaced by K1+ delta, in which K1 is the timing for the HARQ-ACK report for the first PDSCH and delta can be a certain time period (e.g., a number of slots and / or symbols) .
[0098] In one embodiment, the condition includes, the FDM (frequency division multiplexing) for multiplexing multiple data streams is configured to the UE.
[0099] Aspect B: Transmission of third resource
[0100] Aspect B-1: Time domain resource location of transmission of third resource
[0101] In some embodiments, the time domain resource location can be determined in some manners.
[0102] In one embodiment, the overlapping slot is slot m when first PDSCH is scheduled, m is an integer.
[0103] In one embodiment, the slot for the third PDSCH is slot n + k, wherein slot n is an earliest downlink slot / symbol after slot m, and on slot n there is a certain DCI scheduling a PDSCH delivering in slot n + k (e.g., for another service) , and wherein k is a integer. In this manner, the third PDSCH can multiplex with the PDSCH scheduled by said certain DCI.
[0104] In one embodiment, the slot transmitting the third PDSCH on the next available slot after slot n + k.
[0105] In an embodiment, the SLIV (Start and Length Indicator) information for the third PDSCH can be same as the SLIV information indicated in that DCI scheduling the first PDSCH. In another embodiment, other parameters for the third PDSCH can be the same as that indicated in that DCI. For example, the configuration of MCS, DMRS configuration, transmission configuration indicator (TCI) can be the same as that indicated in that DCI.
[0106] In some embodiments, assuming the overlapping slot is slot m (m is an integer) when first PDSCH is scheduled, the slot transmitting the third PDSCH is the earliest available slot after slot m.
[0107] In some embodiments, the slot for the third resource can be reserved by the gNB when the collision or multiplexing happens. The UE decodes the PDSCH at pre-reserved resource or slot. With such a configuration, the UE power consumption can be reduced.
[0108] Aspect B-2: transmission of third resource.
[0109] In this case, there are restriction to the parameter of transmitting the third resource (e.g., the third PDSCH) .
[0110] For example, there is a restrict number of REs (resource elements) for conveying the third PDSCH. The number of REs may correspond to a number of CBGs (Code Block Groups) of the first resource preempted by the second scheduled resource.
[0111] In one embodiment, the UE multiplexes multiple PDSCHs / multiple PUSCHs (which have the same priority) in slot n + k or the earliest available slot by using TDM (time division multiplexing) . In one embodiment, the TMD can be the symbol-level TDM, i.e., the third resource and another resource having the same priority as the third resource are allocated at different symbols.
[0112] In another embodiment, if the third PDSCH overlaps in time with an SSB (Synchronization Signal / Physical Broadcast Channel Block) (e.g., in slot 5 in FIG. 3 or FIG. 4) , the third PDSCH and the SSB can overlap by using FDM (frequency division multiplexing) .
[0113] Aspect B-3
[0114] In some embodiments, the third PDSCH / PUSCH transmits a part of the first PDSCH / PUSCH (see FIG. 4) rather than entire first PDSCH / PUSCH (see FIG. 3) . Accordingly, the resource for transmitting the third PDSCH / PUSCH can be reduced.
[0115] Details of this aspect can be ascertained by referring to Aspect B-1 and B-2, and will not be repeated herein.
[0116] In an embodiment, said a part of the first PDSCH / PUSCH can be in the symbol level or the RB (resource block) level.
[0117] Aspect C: How to transmit multiplexed PDSCHs / PUSCHs in a slot (e.g., slot 3)
[0118] Aspect C-1
[0119] In an embodiment, the RRC parameters includes at least one of the following:
[0120] the first threshold, for example, this first threshold can be the first threshold used in Aspect A-2 that when the amount of overlapping resources between the first PDSCH and the second PDSCH exceeds a first threshold (e.g., a percentage of the overlapping REs) , the UE expects to receive the third PDSCH;
[0121] the second threshold, for example, this second threshold can be the first threshold used in Aspect A-2 that when the constraint of timing for the HARQ-ACK responding the first PDSCH exceeds the second threshold, the UE expects to receive the third PDSCH;
[0122] the third threshold, for example, when the time offset from a lower priority DCI (e.g., first DCI) to higher priority DCI (e.g., second DCI) is larger than a third threshold (e.g., the third threshold is an integer) , the UE executes multiplexing for the PDSCHs / PUSCHs scheduled by the first and second DCI; and / or
[0123] a MultiplexingType (e.g., 3 types including type1, type2, and type3, which are corresponding different multiplexing types, e.g., preempt, rate-matching, or FDM) .
[0124] In an embodiment, if the overlapping resource exceed a second threshold, e.g., (a percentage of the overlapping REs) , the UE drops first PUSCH that is allocated in the overlapping slot. In certain condition, the UE expects to transmit the third PUSCH without addition DCI scheduling after the overlapping slot. In an embodiment, a high layer signaling is configured to enable multiplexing PDSCHs / PUSCHs in a slot.
[0125] Aspect C-2
[0126] In an embodiment, a new indication is in the DCI format, e.g., a bit field indicating the priority information of the corresponding PDSCH.
[0127] For example, bit “0” represents low priority PDSCH, and bit “1” represents high priority PDSCH.
[0128] As another example, bit “1” represents low priority PDSCH, and bit “0” represents high priority PDSCH.
[0129] In an embodiment, the beams / DMRS (demodulation reference signal) ports of the first and second PDSCHs are QCL (Quasi Co-Location) . That means, the UE expects to receive the first PDSCH and the second PDSCH on a same beam.
[0130] Other Aspects:
[0131] The UE can perform the FDM multiplexing for multiple streams (assuming the bandwidth is large enough, and the UE has the capability of performing the FDM of PDSCHs / PUSCHs in a slot) .
[0132] For example, when the time offset from a lower priority DCI (e.g., first DCI) to higher priority DCI (e.g., second DCI) is larger than a third threshold (e.g., the third threshold=0) , the UE executes the FDM multiplexing for the PDSCHs scheduled by the first and second DCI. In this respect, there is sufficient time for the gNB scheduling two PDSCHs overlapping in time.
[0133] In another embodiment, the UE can execute the FDM multiplexing of multiple PDSCHs / PUSCHs.
[0134] In the paragraphs below, details will be described along with some examples, but the present disclosure is not limited to the example below.
