Abstract

Embodiments of the present disclosure relate to devices and methods of communication. In one aspect, a terminal device determines a configuration indicating a first mapping between information of an A-IoT transmission and information of an interface between an A-IoT device and the terminal device and a second mapping between the information of the A-IoT transmission and information of an interface between the terminal device and a network device. Based on the configuration, the terminal device performs the A-IoT transmission between the A-IoT device and the network device. In this way, an A-IoT transmission between an A-IoT device and a network device is achieved by a terminal device as an intermediate node.

[0093] FIG. 5A illustrates a schematic diagram 500A illustrating an example process of a receiving operation of a terminal device in an FL data transfer according to embodiments of the present disclosure. For convenience, operations in FIG. 5A will be described in connection with the example of FIG. 1. As shown in FIG. 5A, the network device 120 (e.g., RAN transmitting part of the network device 120) may determine UE (e.g., the terminal device 110) , A-IoT device information and A-IoT transmission information. The network device 120 may add a header to a packet to be transmitted. The header may comprise the A-IoT device information. Then the packet with the header is mapped to a lower layer of the network device 120. Via the Uu interface, the packet is transferred to a lower layer of the terminal device 110. Then the packet is transferred from the lower layer of the terminal device 110 to the receiving part of the adaptation entity of the terminal device 110 at the Uu interface. Then the packet is transferred from the receiving part of the adaptation entity of the terminal device 110 at the Uu interface to a transmitting part (i.e., UE Transmitting part) of the adaptation entity of the terminal device 110 at the A-IoT interface.

[0094] In this way, end-to-end radio bearers of an A-IoT device may be mapped into Uu lower layer by an adaptation function at a network side.

[0095] In some embodiments, upon reception of the packet from the network device 120, the terminal device 110 may determine the information of the interface between the A-IoT device 130 and the terminal device 110 at least based on the first mapping and the information of the A-IoT transmission. In some embodiments, the terminal device 110 may determine information of the A-IoT device 130 from the packet. For example, the terminal device 110 may determine the information of the A-IoT device 130 from a destination field (e.g., a PDU destination field) of the packet. In some embodiments, the information of the A-IoT device 130 may comprise an ID of the A-IoT device 130. In some embodiments, the information of the A-IoT device 130 may comprise a set ID of a set of A-IoT devices comprising the A-IoT device 130.

[0096] In some embodiments, if the ID of the A-IoT device 130 is a local ID, the terminal device 110 may determine the destination A-IoT device as the one (s) whose local ID matches an A-IoT ID field in the packet (e.g., adaptation PDU) . In some embodiments, if there is an entry in mapping configurations, whose local ID matches the A-IoT ID field in adaptation PDU, the adaptation entity of the terminal device 110 may determine a link on an A-IoT interface corresponding to the mapping configurations configured for the concerned local ID. In this way, using a local ID (allocated to each A-IoT device) to identify a destination A-IoT device may save some bits.

[0097] In some embodiments, if an A-IoT ID is a set ID, the terminal device 110 may determine the destination A-IoT device as the one (s) whose set ID matches the A-IoT set ID field in the packet (e.g., adaptation PDU) . In some embodiments, if there is an entry in mapping configurations, whose set ID matches the A-IoT ID field in adaptation PDU, the adaptation entity of the terminal device 110 may determine a link on an A-IoT interface corresponding to the mapping configurations configured for the concerned set ID. In this way, multiple destination devices may be indicated.

[0098] Upon determination of the information of the A-IoT device 130, the terminal device 110 may determine the information of the interface between the A-IoT device 130 and the terminal device 110 based on the first mapping, the information of the A-IoT transmission and the information of the A-IoT device 130. For example, the terminal device 110 may determine a configuration corresponding to the information of the A-IoT device 130 and determine the information of the interface between the A-IoT device 130 and the terminal device 110 based on the first mapping comprised in the configuration and the information of the A-IoT transmission. Based on the information of the interface  between the A-IoT device 130 and the terminal device 110, the terminal device 110 may transmit the packet to the A-IoT device 130.

[0099] FIG. 5B illustrates a schematic diagram 500B illustrating an example process of a transmitting operation of a terminal device in an FL data transfer according to embodiments of the present disclosure. For convenience, operations in FIG. 5B will be described in connection with the example of FIG. 1. As shown in FIG. 5B, the transmitting part (i.e., UE Transmitting part) of the terminal device 110 at the A-IoT interface may determine one or more A-IoT devices (e.g., the A-IoT device 130) .

[0100] In some embodiments, the transmitting part of the adaptation entity of the terminal device 110 at the A-IoT interface may construct an adaptation PDU as needed, and submit the adaptation PDU to the lower layer of the terminal device 110 at the A-IoT interface.

[0101] FIG. 5C illustrates a schematic diagram 500C illustrating an example adaptation PDU structure according to embodiments of the present disclosure. As shown in FIG. 5C, a field “A-IoT transmission information” may carry information of the A-IoT transmission from an upper layer. A field “Destination” may carry destination information. In some embodiments for FL, the field “Destination” may indicate a device ID or local ID of an A-IoT device, or a set ID associated with the A-IoT device. A field “Data” may carry the adaptation SDU (e.g., PDCP PDU or RLC PDU) . The length of the field “Data” is variable. A field “R” indicates reserved bits. This field may be ignored by a receiver. A field “D / C” indicates whether the corresponding PDU is a data PDU or a control PDU. It is to be understood that FIG. 5C is merely an example, and any other suitable PDU structures may also be feasible.

[0102] In some embodiments, the transmitting part of the adaptation entity of the terminal device 110 at the A-IoT interface may construct an adaptation PDU without a header, and submit the adaptation PDU without the header to the lower layer of the terminal device 110 at the A-IoT interface. Via the A-IoT interface, the adaptation PDU is transferred to a lower layer of the A-IoT device 130.

[0103] In this way, an adaptation function may support A-IoT device identification for FL traffic. In addition, a mapping between an ingress Uu lower layer function and an egress A-IoT interface lower layer function may be achieved.

[0104] Accordingly, the A-IoT device 130 may receive, from the terminal device 120, the packet associated with the A-IoT transmission, and deliver the packet from a lower layer to  an upper layer (e.g., the adaptation entity) of the A-IoT device 130.

[0105] Continuing to refer to FIG. 5B, in some embodiments where the packet has a header, upon reception of the packet from a lower layer, a receiving part of the adaptation entity of the A-IoT device 130 may remove the header and deliver the packet without the header to an upper layer (e.g., a PDCP layer or an A-IoT non-access stratum (NAS) layer) . In some embodiments, the receiving part of the adaptation entity of the A-IoT device 130 may determine information of the upper layer based on the information of the A-IoT transmission and deliver the packet to the determined upper layer. In some embodiments where the packet has no header, upon reception of the packet and determination of the upper layer information, the receiving part of the adaptation entity of the A-IoT device 130 may directly deliver the packet to the upper layer.

[0106] In this way, an adaptation function at an A-IoT device may correlate received packets with the right upper layer function.

[0107] In some embodiments, upon reception of the packet from the network device 120, the terminal device 110 may determine, from the packet, that an A-IoT command is to be transmitted. In other words, upon reception of the packet from the receiving part of the terminal device 110 at the Uu interface, the transmitting part of the terminal device 110 at the A-IoT interface may determine, based on the received packet, whether there is an A-IoT command to be performed.

[0108] If there is the A-IoT command to be performed, the terminal device 110 may determine an A-IoT interface operation at least based on the first mapping and the A-IoT command. In some embodiments, the terminal device 110 may determine information of the A-IoT device 130 from the packet. For example, the terminal device 110 may determine the information of the A-IoT device 130 from a PDU destination field of the packet. In some embodiments, the information of the A-IoT device 130 may comprise an ID of the A-IoT device 130. In some embodiments, the information of the A-IoT device 130 may comprise a set ID of a set of A-IoT devices comprising the A-IoT device 130.

[0109] Then the terminal device 110 may determine the A-IoT interface operation based on the first mapping, the A-IoT command and the information of the A-IoT device 130. For example, the terminal device 110 may determine a configuration corresponding to the information of the A-IoT device 130, and the configuration comprises the first mapping between A-IoT commands and A-IoT interface operations. Then the terminal device 110  may determine the A-IoT interface operation based on the first mapping and the A-IoT command. In this case, the terminal device 110 may transmit, to the A-IoT device 130, information of performing the A-IoT interface operation.

[0110] In this way, an adaptation function may support A-IoT device identification for FL traffic. In addition, a mapping between ingress Uu lower layer function and egress A-IoT interface lower layer function may be achieved.

[0111] Accordingly, the A-IoT device 130 may receive, from the terminal device 120, the information of performing the A-IoT interface operation, and perform the A-IoT interface operation. In some embodiments, the receiving part of the adaptation entity of the A-IoT device 130 may deliver the information of performing the A-IoT interface operation to the upper layer of the A-IoT device 130. The upper layer of the A-IoT device 130 may further initiate an A-IoT interface operation (e.g., implement the A-IoT command) .

[0112] In this way, an adaptation function at an A-IoT device may also correlate received packets with the right upper layer function.

[0113] Embodiment 2

[0114] In this embodiment, a BL data transfer is described. In some embodiments, the A-IoT device 130 may perform an A-IoT transmission from the A-IoT device 130 to the network device 120 or to the terminal device 110 based on the first mapping. The terminal device 110 may perform the A-IoT transmission from the A-IoT device 130 to the network device 120 based on the second mapping.

[0115] FIG. 6A illustrates a schematic diagram 600A illustrating an example process of a transmitting operation of an A-IoT device in a BL data transfer according to embodiments of the present disclosure. For convenience, operations in FIG. 6A will be described in connection with the example of FIG. 1. As shown in FIG. 6A, a transmitting part of the adaptation entity of the A-IoT device 130 may receive a packet (e.g., adaptation SDU) from an upper layer of the A-IoT device 130 and construct an adaptation PDU.

[0116] In some embodiments, upon reception of the packet from the upper layer, the transmitting part of the adaptation entity of the A-IoT device 130 may determine UE (e.g., the terminal device 110) , A-IoT device information and A-IoT transmission information. Based on these information, the transmitting part of the adaptation entity of the A-IoT device 130 may add a header to the packet. The header may comprise at least one of an A-IoT ID field or an A-IoT transmission information field. The A-IoT ID field may  indicate the A-IoT device information, e.g., a device ID, local ID or set ID of the A-IoT device. The A-IoT transmission information field may indicate the upper layer function from which the packet is received, for example, an ID of a radio bearer from which the packet is received. The header may also comprise a destination field. The destination field may indicate a destination which is indicated by the upper layer. In some embodiments, the destination field may indicate an ID of a terminal device. This means that the A-IoT transmission is for the terminal device. In some embodiments, the destination field may comprise a bit indicating whether the A-IoT transmission is for a terminal device or for a network device. For example, a first value of the bit may indicate the A-IoT transmission is for the terminal device, and a second value of the bit may indicate the A-IoT transmission is for the network device. Alternatively, the header may be not added to the packet.

[0117] FIG. 6B illustrates a schematic diagram 600B illustrating another example adaptation PDU structure according to embodiments of the present disclosure. As shown in FIG. 6B, a field “A-IoT transmission information” may carry information of the A-IoT transmission from an upper layer. A field “Destination” may carry destination information. In some embodiments for BL, the field “Destination” may indicate an ID of a terminal device or an ID of a network device. A field “A-IoT ID” may carry information of an A-IoT device, for example, a device ID or local ID of the A-IoT device or a set ID associated with the A-IoT device.

[0118] In some embodiments, the A-IoT device 130 may determine the information of the interface at least based on the mapping and the information of the A-IoT transmission. In some embodiments, the A-IoT device 130 may determine information of the terminal device 110. In some embodiments, the information of the terminal device 110 may comprise an ID of the terminal device 110. In some embodiments, the information of the terminal device 110 may comprise a set ID of a set of terminal devices comprising the terminal device 110. Then the A-IoT device 130 may determine the information of the interface based on the mapping, the information of the A-IoT transmission and the information of the terminal device 110. Based on the information of the interface, the A-IoT device 130 may transmit a packet to the terminal device 110.

[0119] In some embodiments, the A-IoT device 130 may transmit the packet with a field indicating whether the packet is to be transmitted to the terminal device 110 or the network device 120. In some embodiments, if the packet is to be transmitted to the terminal device 110, the A-IoT device 130 may transmit the packet with a field comprising an identity of the terminal device 110.

[0120] In some embodiments, if the packet is to be transmitted to the network device 120, the A-IoT device 130 may transmit the packet with a field comprising an identity of the network device 120. In some embodiments, if the packet is to be transmitted to the terminal device 110, the A-IoT device 130 may transmit the packet on a first channel (e.g., indicated by a first logical channel identity (LCID) value) indicating that the packet is to be transmitted to the terminal device 110. In some embodiments, if the packet is to be transmitted to the network device 120, the A-IoT device 130 may transmit the packet on a second channel (e.g., indicated by a second LCID value) indicating that the packet is to be transmitted to the network device 120. In some embodiments, if the packet is to be transmitted to the terminal device 110, the A-IoT device 130 may transmit the packet without a header of an adaptation layer. In some embodiments, if the packet is to be transmitted to the network device 120, the A-IoT device 130 may transmit the packet with the header.

[0121] Then the packet with the header or without the header may be mapped to a lower layer of the A-IoT device 130. Via the A-IoT interface, the packet is transferred to a lower layer of the terminal device 110. Then the packet is transferred from the lower layer of the terminal device 110 to a receiving part of the adaptation entity of the terminal device 110 at the A-IoT interface.

[0122] In this way, a mapping between end-to-end radio bearers of an A-IoT device and an egress lower layer function may be achieved.

[0123] Continuing to refer to FIG. 6A, upon reception of the packet from the lower layer, the receiving part of the adaptation entity of the terminal device 110 at the A-IoT interface may deliver the packet to a transmitting part of the adaptation entity of the terminal device 110 at the Uu interface.

[0124] Alternatively, the receiving part of the adaptation entity of the terminal device 110 at the A-IoT interface may determine whether the A-IoT transmission is to be delivered to the transmitting part of the adaptation entity of the terminal device 110 at the Uu interface  or to the upper layer of the terminal device 110. That is, the terminal device 110 may determine whether the packet is for the terminal device 110 or for the network device 120.

[0125] In some embodiments, the terminal device 110 may determine, based on control information, whether the packet is for the terminal device 110 or for the network device 120. In some embodiments, if the packet has a field indicating that the packet is to be transmitted to the terminal device 110, the terminal device 110 may determine that the packet is to be transmitted to the terminal device 110. If the packet has a field indicating that the packet is to be transmitted to the network device 120, the terminal device 110 may determine that the packet is to be transmitted to the network device 120.

[0126] In some embodiments, the terminal device 110 may determine, based on a destination field, whether the packet is for the terminal device 110 or for the network device 120. In some embodiments, if the packet has a field indicating an ID of the terminal device 110 (e.g., if a destination field of the packet matches the ID or address of the terminal device 110) , the terminal device 110 may determine that the packet is to be transmitted to the terminal device 110. If the packet has a field indicating an ID of the network device 120 (e.g., if the destination field of the packet does not match the ID or address of the terminal device 110) , the terminal device 110 may determine that the packet is to be transmitted to the network device 120.

[0127] In some embodiments, the terminal device 110 may determine, based on lower layer information from which the packet is received, whether the packet is for the terminal device 110 or for the network device 120. In some embodiments, if the packet is transmitted on a first channel (e.g., indicated by a first LCID value) , the terminal device 110 may determine that the packet is to be transmitted to the terminal device 110. In some embodiments, if the packet is transmitted on a second channel (e.g., indicated by a second LCID value) , the terminal device 110 may determine that the packet is to be transmitted to the network device 120.

[0128] In some embodiments, the terminal device 110 may determine, based on whether the packet header presents, whether the packet is for the terminal device 110 or for the network device 120. In some embodiments, if the packet has no header of an adaptation layer, the terminal device 110 may determine that the packet is to be transmitted to the terminal device 110. If the packet has a header of the adaptation layer, the terminal device 110 may determine that the packet is to be transmitted to the network device 120.

[0129] In this way, differentiation of traffic to be delivered to an upper layer from traffic to be delivered to a network device may be achieved.

[0130] Continuing to refer to FIG. 6A, in some embodiments where the packet is to be transmitted to the terminal device 110, the packet may be transferred from a lower layer to an upper layer of the terminal device 110. In some embodiments, if the packet (e.g., a PDU) has a header, the terminal device 110 may remove the header and deliver the packet (e.g., an SDU) to upper layers.

[0131] In some embodiments where the packet is to be transmitted to the network device 120, the packet may be transferred from the receiving part of the adaptation entity of the terminal device 110 at the A-IoT interface to a transmitting part of the adaptation entity of the terminal device 110 at the Uu interface.

[0132] FIG. 6C illustrates a schematic diagram 600C illustrating an example process of a transmitting operation of a terminal device in a BL data transfer according to embodiments of the present disclosure. For convenience, operations in FIG. 6C will be described in connection with the example of FIG. 1. As shown in FIG. 6C, upon reception of the packet from the A-IoT device 130, if the packet is to be transmitted to the network device 120, the terminal device 110 (i.e., the transmitting part of the adaptation entity of the terminal device 110 at the Uu interface) may determine at least one of a field comprising information of the A-IoT device 130 or a field comprising the information of the A-IoT transmission. The information of the A-IoT device 130 may include a device ID or local ID or set ID associated with the A-IoT device 130. The terminal device 110 may add a header of an adaptation layer to the packet. The header may include the at least one of the fields.

[0133] The terminal device 110 may determine the information of the interface between the terminal device 110 and the network device 120 based on the second mapping and the information of the A-IoT transmission. Then the terminal device 110 may transmit the packet with the header to the network device 120 based on the information of the interface with the network device 120.

[0134] As shown in FIG. 6C, the transmitting part of the adaptation entity of the terminal device 110 at the Uu interface may submit the packet with the header to the lower layer of the terminal device 110 at the Uu interface. Via the Uu interface, the packet may be transferred to a lower layer of the network device 120. After removing the header, the  lower layer of the network device 120 may transfer the packet to an upper layer of the network device 120.

[0135] In this way, a mapping between an ingress A-IoT interface lower layer function and an egress Uu lower layer function may be achieved. A network device may correlate received packets with the right A-IoT devices.

[0136] So far, FL and BL data transfer procedures are respectively described in connection with Embodiments 1 and 2. For illustration, some example embodiments will be further described in connection with Embodiments 3 to 5 below.

[0137] Embodiment 3

[0138] In this embodiment, an adaptation layer is above an RLC layer. FIG. 7A illustrates a schematic diagram 700A illustrating an example A-IoT transmission according to embodiments of the present disclosure.

[0139] As shown in FIG. 7A, there are a mapping between an end-to-end radio bearer ID and an RLC channel. An adaptation function performs an FL bearer mapping at gNB to map end-to-end radio bearers of an A-IoT device into the RLC channel. The adaptation function at UE performs an FL bearer mapping between an ingress RLC channel and an egress RLC channel. The adaptation function at the A-IoT device supports a BL bearer mapping between A-IoT device end-to-end Radio Bearers and egress RLC channel. The adaptation function at the UE performs a BL bearer mapping between an ingress RLC channel and an egress RLC channel.

[0140] In an FL transmission from the UE to the A-IoT device, the UE may determine the egress RLC channel based on the bearer ID and the mapping configurations. For example, the UE may determine the egress RLC channel associate with the bearer ID according to the mapping configurations for the A-IoT device. For the radio bearer ID shared by both SRB and DRB, the SRB and the DRB are differentiated based on mapping configurations and a logical channel identity (LCID) of a Uu RLC channel from which an adaptation PDU is received.

[0141] With this procedure, an adaptation layer of a terminal device may map a packet to a lower layer of the terminal device according to information provided by a header of the packet.

[0142] Embodiment 4

[0143] In this embodiment, an adaptation layer is transparent for an A-IoT device. FIG. 7B illustrates a schematic diagram 700B illustrating another example A-IoT transmission according to embodiments of the present disclosure.

[0144] As shown in FIG. 7B, in an FL procedure, upon reception of an adaptation PDU from a lower layer, a receiving part of an adaptation entity of UE on a Uu interface may deliver packets to a transmitting part of the adaptation entity on an A-IoT interface. The transmitting part of the adaptation entity of the UE on the A-IoT interface may receive the packets from the receiving part of the adaptation entity of the UE on the Uu interface, and construct a PDU without a header. The transmitting part of the adaptation entity of the UE on the Uu interface may determine lower layer information based on A-IoT transmission information and the mapping configurations, and may determine a destination A-IoT device based on the destination field. Then the transmitting part of the adaptation entity of the UE on the Uu interface may deliver the PDU to a lower layer for transmission. The receiving part of the adaptation entity of the A-IoT device may not need an adaptation process, and may deliver the PDU to an upper layer of the A-IoT device.

[0145] In a BL procedure, a transmitting part of the adaptation entity of the A-IoT device may deliver a PDU to a lower layer for transmission. Upon reception of the PDU from the lower layer, a receiving part of the adaptation entity of UE on the A-IoT interface may determine whether to deliver the PDU to the transmitting part of the adaptation entity of UE on the Uu interface based on the lower layer from which the PDU is received. If the PDU is to be delivered to gNB, the UE may construct a header for transmitting to gNB. If the PDU is to be delivered to the UE, a lower layer of the UE may deliver the PDU to an upper layer of the UE.

[0146] With this procedure, an adaptation layer is transparent for an A-IoT device. An A-IoT device may not need to differentiate traffic with or without an intermediate node.

[0147] Embodiment 5

[0148] In this embodiment, layer-2 relay may be used. In some embodiments, a radio bearer may be omitted. In some embodiments, RLC may be skip or bypass. In some embodiments, RLC transparent mode (TM) may be used.

[0149] In an FL procedure, upon reception of a MAC PDU from a lower layer, a receiving part of an adaptation entity of UE on a Uu interface may deliver a packet to a transmitting part of the adaptation entity of UE on an A-IoT interface. In some embodiments, a  destination field indicating one or more destination A-IoT devices may be indicated in an MAC sub header of the MAC PDU. In some embodiments, an LCID field indicating an LCID may be indicated in the MAC sub header.

[0150] Then the transmitting part of the adaptation entity of the UE on the A-IoT interface may receive the packet from the receiving part of the adaptation entity of the UE on the Uu interface. In some embodiments, the transmitting part of the adaptation entity of the UE on the A-IoT interface may determine lower layer information based on at least one of mapping configurations, the destination filed or the LCID field. Then the transmitting part of the adaptation entity of the UE on the A-IoT interface may deliver the PDU to a lower layer for transmission.

[0151] In a BL procedure, a transmitting part of the adaptation entity of the A-IoT device may deliver a packet to a receiving part of the adaptation entity of UE on a Uu interface. In some embodiments, a destination field indicating one or more destination A-IoT devices may be indicated in an MAC sub header of the MAC PDU. In some embodiments, an LCID field indicating an LCID may be indicated in the MAC sub header.

[0152] Then the transmitting part of the adaptation entity of the UE on the Uu interface may receive the packet from the receiving part of the adaptation entity of the UE on the A-IoT interface. In some embodiments, the transmitting part of the adaptation entity of the UE on the Uu interface may determine lower layer information based on at least one of mapping configurations, the destination filed or the LCID field. Then the transmitting part of the adaptation entity of the UE on the Uu interface may deliver the PDU to a lower layer for transmission.

[0153] So far, FL and BL data transfer procedures are described. Embodiments of the present disclosure also provide a solution of an inventory procedure. The solution will be described in connection with Embodiment 6.

[0154] Embodiment 6

[0155] In this embodiment, an inventory function may be provided. FIG. 8 illustrates a schematic diagram 800 illustrating an example function setting for inventory according to embodiments of the present disclosure. For convenience, operations in FIG. 8 will be described in connection with the example of FIG. 1. As shown in FIG. 8, each of the A-IoT device 130 and the terminal device 110 may comprise an inventory function (denoted as AIoT-Inventory) and a lower layer function (denoted as AIoT-Lower layer) .

[0156] In some embodiments, the network device 120 may transmit, to the terminal device 110, a configuration indicating a condition for initiating an inventory procedure. In some embodiments, the network device 120 may transmit the configuration via a broadcast signaling. In some embodiments, the network device 120 may transmit the configuration via a signaling dedicated to the terminal device 110 for inventory. In some alternative embodiments, the configuration may be predefined for terminal devices and A-IoT devices.

[0157] In some embodiments, the condition may be a quality condition. In some embodiments, the condition may comprise a maximum reference signal receiving power (RSRP) threshold. In some embodiments, the condition may comprise a minimum RSRP threshold. In some embodiments, the condition may comprise both the maximum RSRP threshold and the minimum RSRP threshold. In some embodiments, the quality condition may be evaluated by other measurement quantities including reference signal receiving quality (RSRQ) , received signal strength indicator (RSSI) , signal to noise ratio (SNR) , and signal to interference plus noise ratio (SINR) . It is to be understood that any other suitable conditions may also be feasible. In some embodiments, if the condition is satisfied, the terminal device 110 may initiate the inventory procedure.

[0158] In some embodiments, if one or more A-IoT devices comprising the A-IoT device 130 are inventoried, the terminal device 110 may create the A-IoT session for the one or more A-IoT devices. In other words, the A-IoT session may associate to the one or more A-IoT devices. In the example of FIG. 4A, each A-IoT device may correspond to one A-IoT session. In the example of FIG. 4B, each A-IoT device set may correspond to one A-IoT session.

[0159] In some embodiments, the A-IoT session may be defined by at least one of a start time or an end time. In some embodiments, access operations to A-IoT devices may be interleaved in the A-IoT session.

[0160] In this way, an inventory procedure may be carried out.

[0161] It is to be understood that operations described in process 300 and in Embodiments 1 to 6 may be carried out separately or in any suitable combination. The present disclosure does not limit this aspect.

[0162] EXAMPLE IMPLEMENTATION OF METHODS

[0163] Corresponding to the above processes, embodiments of the present disclosure provide methods of communication implemented at a terminal device, at an A-IoT device  and at a network device. These methods will be described below with reference to FIGs. 9 to 11.

[0164] FIG. 9 illustrates an example method 900 of communication implemented at a terminal device in accordance with some embodiments of the present disclosure. For the purpose of discussion, in the following, the method 900 will be described with reference to FIG. 1. It is to be understood that the method 900 may include additional blocks not shown and / or may omit some blocks as shown, and the scope of the present disclosure is not limited in this regard.

[0165] At block 910, the terminal device 110 may determine a configuration indicating a first mapping between information of an A-IoT transmission and information of an interface between an A-IoT device (e.g., the A-IoT device 130) and the terminal device 110 and a second mapping between the information of the A-IoT transmission and information of an interface between the terminal device 110 and the network device 120.

[0166] In some embodiments, the information of the A-IoT transmission may indicate at least one of the following: an identity of a radio bearer for the A-IoT transmission, an identity of an A-IoT session associated with the A-IoT transmission, a type or an identity of an A-IoT command associated with the A-IoT transmission, an identity of a PDU set associated with the A-IoT transmission, an identity of a PDU session associated with the A-IoT transmission, a PDU for the A-IoT transmission is control information or data, a destination of the A-IoT transmission is one or multiple A-IoT devices, or a QoS flow associated with the A-IoT transmission.

[0167] In some embodiments, the information of the interface between the terminal device 110 and the network device 120 may indicate at least one of the following: information of a radio link control layer, information of a medium access control layer, or information of a physical layer.

[0168] In some embodiments, the information of the interface between the A-IoT device 130 and the terminal device 110 may indicate at least one of the following: information of a radio link control layer, information of a medium access control layer, information of a physical layer, an A-IoT interface operation, or information of a wave for the A-IoT interface operation.

[0169] In some embodiments, the terminal device 110 may determine, from a set of configurations, the configuration associated with a set of A-IoT devices comprising the  A-IoT device 130.

[0170] At block 920, the terminal device 110 may perform the A-IoT transmission between the A-IoT device 130 and the network device 120 based on the configuration. In some embodiments, the terminal device 110 may perform the A-IoT transmission from the network device 120 to the A-IoT device 130 based on the first mapping.

[0171] In some embodiments, the terminal device 110 may receive, from the network device 120, a packet associated with the A-IoT transmission. The terminal device 110 may determine the information of the interface between the A-IoT device 130 and the terminal device 110 at least based on the first mapping and the information of the A-IoT transmission. In some embodiments, the terminal device 110 may determine information of the A-IoT device 130 from the packet, and determine the information of the interface between the A-IoT device 130 and the terminal device 110 based on the first mapping, the information of the A-IoT transmission and the information of the A-IoT device. Based on the information of the interface between the A-IoT device 130 and the terminal device 110, the terminal device 110 may transmit the packet to the A-IoT device 130.
