AI Technical Summary
In NR SL positioning, the existing one-to-one and one-to-more mapping relationships between PSCCH resources and SL-PRS resources lead to resource wastage, PSCCH capacity issues, and increased signaling overhead due to potential collisions and explicit signaling requirements.
The proposed solution involves determining physical sidelink control channel (PSCCH) resource configuration information, which includes associations of sequence sets for PSCCH DMRS with PSCCH resources, indicating or reserving SL-PRS resources, and using different sets of sequences for PSCCH DMRS to implicitly indicate the SL-PRS resource for PRS transmission, thereby reducing signaling overhead and mitigating collisions.
This approach enhances PSCCH resource utilization, reduces collisions, and decreases signaling overhead by allowing multiple UEs to use different SL-PRS resources associated with the same PSCCH resource without additional signaling, thereby improving sidelink positioning performance and efficiency.

Abstract
Description
PSCCH ENHANCEMENT FOR SIDELINK POSITIONINGFIELD
[0001] Example embodiments of the present disclosure generally relate to the field of communications, and in particular, to a terminal device, a network device, methods, apparatuses, and a computer-readable medium for physical sidelink control channel (PSCCH) enhancement for sidelink positioning.BACKGROUND
[0002] In NR SL positioning, PSCCH DMRS may be transmitted on a PSCCH resource and SL-PRS may be transmitted on a SL-PRS resource. The PSCCH resource and an associated SL-PRS resource in the same slot may have a one-to-one mapping relationship. Alternatively, the PSCCH resource and associated SL-PRS resources may have a one-to-more mapping relationship by explicit signaling.
[0003] However, in case of one-to-one mapping relationship, resources may be wasted and PSCCH capacity may be a problem. In case of one-to-more mapping relationship, either two user equipments (UE) selecting the same PSCCH resource or selecting the same PRS resource may lead to collision of PRS transmissions, and signaling overhead may increase due to explicit indication of SL-PRS resource.SUMMARY

[0055] In the system 100A, a link from the network device 120 to terminal device 110 is referred to as a downlink (DL) , while a link from terminal device 110 to the network device 120 is referred to as an uplink (UL) . In downlink, the network device 120 is a transmitting (TX) device (or a transmitter) and terminal device 110 is a receiving (RX) device (or a receiver) . In uplink, terminal device 110 is a transmitting TX device (or a transmitter) and the network device 120 is a RX device (or a receiver) .
[0056] In the system 100A, a link between the first terminal device 110-1 and the second terminal device 110-2 is referred to as a sidelink (SL) . When the first terminal device 110-1 transmits to the second terminal device 110-2, the first terminal device 110-1 is a transmitting (TX) device (or a transmitter) and the second terminal device 110-2 is a receiving (RX) device (or a receiver) . When the second terminal device 110-2 transmits to the first terminal device 110-1, the second terminal device 110-2 is a transmitting TX device (or a transmitter) and the first terminal device 110-1 is a RX device (or a receiver) .

[0058] It is to be understood that the numbers of devices (including terminal device 110 and the network device 120) and their connection relationships and types shown in FIG. 1A are only for illustrative purposes without suggesting any limitation. [0059] FIG. 1B illustrates an example of a one-to-one mapping relationship between the PSCCH resource and a SL-PRS resource in the same slot associated with some example embodiments of the present disclosure.
[0060] As illustrated in FIG. 1B, the subchannel includes a PSCCH region 130 which is divided into several PSCCH portions, namely, PSCCH portions 131, 132, 133 and 134, each denoted by a different pattern. In the example illustrated in FIG. 1B, the size of PSCCH portions 131, 132, 133 are assumed to be equal in the frequency domain. The corresponding (sidelink) PRS region (i.e., resource region for sidelink PRS, namely SL-PRS resources) , which is denoted by 140, includes multiple PRBs. Among the multiple PRBs, one PRB is enlarged to illustrate the time division multiplexing (TDM) duration 145. Among the TDM duration 145, SL-PRS resource (denoted by a small square, such as 146-149) with the same pattern as any of the PSCCH portions 131-134 corresponds one-to-one to that PSCCH portion. For example, SL-PRS resource 146 has the same pattern as PSCCH portion 131, so the PSCCH portion 131 corresponds one-to-one to SL-PRS resource 146, and vice versa. In this case, it can be also referred to that the PSCCH portion 131 and the SL-PRS resource 146 have a one-to-one mapping relationship (which may be also referred to as one-to-one mapping type) . Similarly, SL-PRS resource 147 has the same pattern as PSCCH portion 132, so the PSCCH portion 132 corresponds one-to-one to SL-PRS resource 147, and vice versa. SL-PRS resource 148 has the same pattern as PSCCH portion 133, so the PSCCH portion 133 corresponds one-to-one to SL-PRS resource 148, and vice versa. SL-PRS resource 149 has the same pattern as PSCCH portion 134, so the PSCCH portion 134 corresponds one-to-one to SL-PRS resource 149, and vice versa. In other words, the PSCCH portion 132 and the SL-PRS resource 147, the PSCCH portion 133 and the SL-PRS resource 148, and the PSCCH portion 134 and the SL-PRS resource 149 also have a one-to-one mapping type.
[0061] One-to-one mapping relationship between PSCCH resource and SL-PRS resource (s) may be simple to implement, introduce no collision, and have no impact on the existing signaling. However, due to one-to-one mapping relationship, when the number of SL-PRSs is small, PSCCH resource may be wasted. On the other hand, when the number of SL-PRSs is large, PSCCH capacity may be a problem, in other words, there may be not enough PSCCH resource to be mapped to the SL-PRSs in a one-to-one mapping manner.
[0062] FIG. 1C illustrates an example of a one-to-more mapping relationship between the PSCCH resource and SL-PRS resources in the same slot associated with some example embodiments of the present disclosure.
[0063] FIG. 1C differs in FIG. 1B in that, in FIG. 1C, there is no PSCCH portion 134; instead, the PSCCH portion 133 corresponds to both SL-PRS resources 148 and 149. In other words, in this case, the PSCCH portion 131 and the SL-PRS resource 146, and the PSCCH portion 132 and the SL-PRS resource 147 still have a one-to-one mapping relationship, while the PSCCH portion 133 and the both SL-PRS resources 148 and 149 have a one-to-two mapping relationship, i.e., one PSCCH resource (i.e., the PSCCH portion 133) corresponds to two SL-PRS resources (i.e., the both SL-PRS resources 148 and 149) .
[0064] In the case of one-to-two mapping relationship between the PSCCH portion 133 and the both SL-PRS resources 148 and 149, to differentiate the SL-PRS resources 148 and 149, an additional bit is needed to be introduced to indicate a UE which one of the SL-PRS resources 148 and 149 should be selected to transmit a SL-PRS, when PSCCH DMRS is transited on the PSCCH portion 133. For example, value “0” of this additionally introduced bit may indicate the UE to select the SL-PRS resource 148, and value “1” of this additionally introduced bit may indicate the UE to select the SL-PRS resource 149. This additionally introduced bit may be comprised in the legacy SCI information element and transmitted to the UE via a resource pool signaling, for example, a radio resource control (RRC) signaling. Alternatively, the additionally introduced bit may be indicated to the UE separately, for example, in a customized (or newly defined) signaling. Therefore, signaling overhead for explicit indication of SL-PRS resource is increased.
[0065] Due to the one-to-two mapping relationship between the PSCCH portion 133 and the both SL-PRS resources 148 and 149, in case two UEs select at the same time the same PSCCH resource (for example, the PSCCH region 133) to transmit PSCCH DMRS, or select at the same time the same PRS resource (for example, SL-PRS resource 148 or 149) to transmit SL-PRS, collision of PRS transmissions may occur. Thus collision probability is significantly increased.
[0066] As described above with the example of a one-to-two mapping relationship between the PSCCH portion 133 and the both SL-PRS resources 148 and 149 as illustrated in FIG. 1C, in case of one-to-more mapping relationship, two or more UEs selecting the same PSCCH resource or selecting the same PRS resource may lead to collision of PRS transmissions, and signaling overhead may increase due to explicit indication of SL-PRS resource. Therefore, sidelink positioning should be further studied to improve sidelink positioning performance and efficiency, which will be described in more detail with reference to FIGS. 2-5.
[0067] Specifically, the disclosure proposes enhancement to PSCCH for sidelink positioning in a dedicated SL PRS resource pool. The key idea is that, for a PSCCH resource with one-to-more mapping (for example, the one-to-two mapping relationship between the PSCCH portion 133 and the both SL-PRS resources 148 and 149 as illustrated in FIG. 1C) , PSCCH transmission collision is mitigated by using different sets of sequences for DMRSs of PSCCHs indicating / reserving different SL-PRS resources associated with the PSCCH resource, configuring more frequency resources to the PSCCH resource to decrease code rate and different RSRP thresholds to deprioritize the selection of the PSCCH resource. The set of sequences used for a PSCCH DMRS implicitly indicates which SL-PRS resource should be used for PRS transmission, thus no additional signaling introduced in the SCI of the PSCCH is required.
[0068] More specifically, a PSCCH resource with 1-to-k mapping are assigned k sets of sequences for PSCCH DMRS is proposed. In this case, with 1-to-k mapping, a PSCCH resource is associated with k SL-PRS resources (indexed as SL-PRS resource 1, SL-PRS resource 2, …, SL-PRS resource k) . A PSCCH (occupying the PSCCH resource) indicating / reserving SL-PRS resource i uses the ith set of sequences for PSCCH DMRS. A Tx UE transmitting the PSCCH randomly selects one sequence out of the ith set of sequences for its PSCCH-DMRS. This case will be described in more detail with reference to FIG. 4.
[0069] Another solution is also proposed where PSCCH resources with different mappings types to SL-PRS resources (1-to-k mapping between a PSCCH resource and k associated SL-PRS resources in the same slot) occupy different number of PRBs (different sl-FreqResourcePSCCH values: sl-FreqResourcePSCCH (k) for 1-to-k mapping) . This case will be described in more detail with reference to FIG. 3.
[0070] Still another solution utilizing different RSRP thresholds for different mapping types (Th (pi, pj, k) for 1-to-k mapping) is proposed. In this case, in resource selection of PSCCH resources, different RSRP thresholds for different types of mappings (Th (pi, pj, k) for 1-to-k mapping) are used to treat PSCCH resources with different types of mappings differentially. This will be described in more detail with reference to FIG. 4.
[0071] Though the three solutions are introduced separately on the above, they may also be combined to achieve better effects than only one of them is used, and this case will be described in more detail with reference to FIG. 4.
[0072] FIG. 2 illustrates a signaling chart illustrating an example communication process 200 in accordance with some example embodiments of the present disclosure. For the purpose of discussion, the communication process 200 will be described with reference to FIG. 1A. The communication process 200 may involve a first terminal device (for example, the first terminal device 110-1 as illustrated in FIG. 1A) , a second terminal device (for example, the second terminal device 110-2 as illustrated in FIG. 1A) and a network device (for example, the network device 120 as illustrated in FIG. 1A) . In the following, the communication process 200 will be described with reference to the first terminal device 110-1, second terminal device 110-2 and network device 120 as illustrated in FIG. 1A.
[0073] As illustrated in FIG. 2, at block 225, the first terminal device 110-1 determines physical sidelink control channel (PSCCH) resource configuration information of a PSCCH resource (for example, PSCCH resource 131, 132 or 133 as illustrated in FIG. 1C) . Here, the PSCCH resource configuration information may comprise an association of a number of sets of sequences for PSCCH demodulation reference signal (DMRS) with the PSCCH resource, where the PSCCH resource is associated with at least one sidelink positioning reference signal (SL-PRS) resource, and a PSCCH transmission on the PSCCH resource indicating and / or reserving a SL-PRS resource among the at least one SL-PRS resource uses a set of sequences among the number of sets of sequences for PSCCH DMRS. In addition or as an alternative, the PSCCH resource configuration information may comprise an association of a number of physical resource blocks (PRBs) with a PSCCH resource, where the PSCCH resource has a mapping type related to at least one SL-PRS resource. In addition or as an alternative, the PSCCH resource configuration information may comprise an association of a reference signal received power (RSRP) threshold with a PSCCH resource, wherein the PSCCH resource has a mapping type related to at least one SL-PRS resource.
[0074] At block 230, the second terminal device 110-2 also determines PSCCH resource configuration information of a PSCCH resource, which is the same as the PSCCH resource configuration information determined by the first terminal device 110-1 at block 225. Such PSCCH resource configuration information may be (pre) defined in a specification, for example, in a 3GPP specification, or may be (pre) configured by a network device, for example, by the network device 120. For example, the network device 120 can determine the PSCCH resource configuration information at block 210, and transmit (215) the PSCCH resource configuration information 201 to the first terminal device 110-1, for example, via a resource pool signaling, which can be a higher layer signaling such as radio resource control (RRC) signaling. The network device 120 can also transmit (220) the PSCCH resource configuration information 202 (which is the same as the PSCCH resource configuration information 201, here the different reference sign “202” is used only for purpose of differentiation) to the first terminal device 110-2, for example, via a resource pool signaling, which can be a radio resource control (RRC) signaling. On the other side of communication, in order to determine the PSCCH resource configuration information, the first terminal device 110-1 receives (217) the PSCCH resource configuration information 201, for example, via a resource pool signaling. Similarly, in order to determine the PSCCH resource configuration information, the second terminal device 110-2 receives (222) the PSCCH resource configuration information 202, for example, via a resource pool signaling.
[0075] It is to be noted that the transmission of the PSCCH resource configuration information 201 and 202 may be of any order. In other words, the PSCCH resource configuration information 201 may be transmitted before or after the PSCCH resource configuration information 202, or the two may be transmitted concurrently, and the present disclosure is not limited thereto. It is also to be noted that the operations at block 225 and 230 may be of any order. In other words, the operation at block 225 may happen before or after the operation at block 230, or the two may happen concurrently, and the present disclosure is not limited thereto.
[0076] In case the PSCCH resource configuration information comprises the association of the number of sets of sequences for PSCCH DMRS with the PSCCH resource, two sequences in a set of sequences among the number of sets of sequences for PSCCH DMRS have a zero cross-correlation or a cross-correlation below a threshold. In addition or as an alternative, two sequences from two sets of sequences among the number of sets of sequences for PSCCH DMRS may have a zero cross-correlation or a cross-correlation below a threshold. Here, if a cross-correlation is zero or below a ( (pre) configured or (pre) defined or (pre) determined) threshold, then the two sequences in a set of sequences or from two sets of sequences can be considered to be orthogonal to each other.
[0077] Reference is now made back to FIG. 2. The first terminal device, as a transmission (Tx) UE in the sidelink with the second terminal device 110-2 (which plays the role of a reception (Rx) UE in the sidelink with the first terminal device 110-1) , transmits (235) , to the second terminal device 110-2, a PSCCH transmission 203 using a PSCCH DMRS on the PSCCH resource. Here, the PSCCH DMRS is associated with an SL-PRS resource among the at least one SL-PRS resource. On the other side of communication, the second terminal device 110-2 receives (237) , from the first terminal device 110-1, the PSCCH transmission 203. Here, the SL-PRS resource may be associated with the PSCCH DMRS via orthogonal cover code (OCC) sequence. In this case, in order to generate the number of sets of sequences for PSCCH DMRS, the first terminal device 110-1 may apply frequency domain OCC and time domain OCC to a base PSCCH DMRS (i.e., a base sequence) . More specifically, in order to apply the frequency domain OCC and the time domain OCC to the base PSCCH DMRS, the first terminal device 110-1 may apply the frequency domain OCC to the base PSCCH DMRS in a PSCCH symbol to generate an intermediate PSCCH DMRS, and then apply the time domain OCC to the intermediate PSCCH DMRS in different PSCCH symbols including the PSCCH symbol. Further, in order to apply the time domain OCC to the intermediate PSCCH DMRS, the first terminal device 110-1 may apply the time domain OCC to same PSCCH DMRS resource elements (REs) in the different PSCCH symbols including the PSCCH symbol. If the size of the PSCCH resource in time domain is 2 symbols, and the time domain OCC for the PSCCH DMRS may be that, for symbol index 0, Wt, 1 (0) = 1 and Wt,2 (0) =1, and for symbol index 1, Wt, 1 (1) = 1 and Wt, 2 (1) = -1, here Wt, i (l) is a parameter for the time domain OCC, l is the symbol index of symbols in the PSCCH resource, the value of l is 0 or 1, i is the index of sets of sequences for PSCCH DMRS, the value of i is 1 or 2, and t represents time domain. If the size of the PSCCH resource in time domain is 3 symbols, and the time domain OCC for the PSCCH DMRS may be that, for symbol index 0, Wt,1 (0) = 1, Wt, 2 (0) =1, and Wt, 3 (0) =1, for symbol index 1, Wt, 1 (1) = 1, Wt, 2 (1) = ej2 / 3π, and Wt, 3 (1) = e-j2 / 3π, and for symbol index 2, Wt, 1 (2) = 1, Wt, 2 (2) = e-j2 / 3π, and Wt,3 (2) = ej2 / 3π, here Wt, i (l) is a parameter for the time domain OCC, l is the symbol index of symbols in the PSCCH resource, the value of l is 0, 1 or 2, i is the index of sets of sequences for PSCCH DMRS, the value of i is 1, 2 or 3, and t represents time domain.
[0078] Alternatively, in order to apply the frequency domain OCC and the time domain OCC to the base PSCCH DMRS, the first terminal device 110-1 may apply the time domain OCC first and then apply the frequency domain OCC. Here, in order to apply the time domain OCC to generate the intermediate PSCCH DMRS, the first terminal device 110-1 may apply the time domain OCC to same PSCCH DMRS resource elements (REs) in the different PSCCH symbols including the PSCCH symbol.
[0079] Alternatively, in order to generate the number of sets of sequences for PSCCH DMRS, the first terminal device 110-1 may apply frequency domain OCC to a base PSCCH DMRS. In this case, assuming the number of sets of sequences is k, in order to generate k sets of sequences for PSCCH DMRS, the first terminal device 110-1 may apply the frequency domain OCC to the base PSCCH DMRS to generate 3k orthogonal PSCCH-DMRS sequences, then divide the 3k orthogonal PSCCH-DMRS sequences into k sets of sequences for the PSCCH-DMRS.
[0080] In case the PSCCH resource configuration information comprises the association of the number of PRBs with the PSCCH resource, it is assumed that the PSCCH resource is a first PSCCH resource, the at least one SL-PRS resource is a first SL-PRS resource, the first PSCCH resource has a 1-to-1 mapping type to the first SL-PRS resource, a second PSCCH resource has a 1-to-n mapping type to a second SL-PRS resource (s) , n is an integer larger than 1. In this case, the first terminal device 110-1 may assign a first number of PRBs to the first PSCCH resource, and assign a second number of PRBs to the second PSCCH resource. In one example, the second number is different from the first number. In another example, the number of the second SL-PRS resource (s) may be n, and the second number may be less than n times of the first number. Here, a “1-to-1 mapping type” means that one PSCCH resource (on which a PSSCH DMRS is transmitted) is associated with (mapped to) one SL-PRS resource (on which a SL-PRS is transmitted) , while a “1-to-n mapping type” means that one PSCCH resource (on which a PSSCH DMRS is transmitted) is associated with (mapped to) n SL-PRS resources (on which more than one SL-PRS is transmitted; in this case, the present disclosure proposes a solution to indicate, through which PSCCH DMRS is transmitted on the PSCCH resource, which SL-PRS resource among the n SL-PRS resources the SL-PRS shall be transmitted on. This will be described in more detail with reference to FIGS. 4 and 5) .
[0081] In case the PSCCH resource configuration information comprises the association of the RSRP threshold with the PSCCH resource, it is assumed that the PSCCH resource is a first PSCCH resource, the at least one SL-PRS resource is a first SL-PRS resource, the first PSCCH resource has a 1-to-1 mapping type to the first SL-PRS resource, and a second PSCCH resource has a 1-to-more mapping type to a second SL-PRS resource (s) . In this case, the first terminal device may assign a first RSRP threshold to the first PSCCH resource, and assign a second RSRP threshold to the second PSCCH resource. For example, the second RSRP threshold may be lower than the first RSRP threshold. In this case, the first terminal device 110-1 may further select, based on the RSRP threshold among different RSRP thresholds, a PSCCH resource among a plurality of PSCCH resources comprising the PSCCH resource, and select an SL-PRS resource randomly from the at least one SL-PRS resources. Then, the first terminal device 110-1 may transmit the PSCCH transmission using the PSCCH DMRS on the selected PSCCH resource and transmit the SL-PRS on the selected SL-PRS resource. Here, in order to select the SL-PRS resource randomly, the first terminal device 110-1 may determine whether the selected PSCCH resource is associated with more than one SL-PRS resource. If so (i.e., the selected PSCCH resource is associated with more than one SL-PRS resource) , the first terminal device 110-1 may select the SL-PRS resource randomly from the more than one SL-PRS resource.
[0082] In some embodiments, the PSCCH resource configuration information may comprise the association of the resource selection probability with the PSCCH resource. It is assumed that the PSCCH resource is a first PSCCH resource, the at least one SL-PRS resource is a first SL-PRS resource, the first PSCCH resource has a 1-to-1 mapping type to the first SL-PRS resource, and a second PSCCH resource has a 1-to-more mapping type to a second SL-PRS resource (s) . In this case, the first terminal device 110-1 may assign a first resource selection probability to the first PSCCH resource, and assign a second resource selection probability to the second PSCCH resource. For example, the second resource selection probability may be lower than the first resource selection probability. In this case, the first terminal device 110-1 may further select, based on the resource selection probability among different resource selection probabilities, a PSCCH resource among a plurality of PSCCH resources comprising the PSCCH resource, and select an SL-PRS resource randomly from the at least one SL-PRS resources (for example, to transmit an SL-PRS) .
[0083] In some embodiments, the PSCCH resource configuration information may comprise the association of the resource selection probability with the at least one SL-PRS resource. In this case, the first terminal device 110-1 may assign a first resource selection probability to the first SL-PRS resource, and assign a second resource selection probability to each of the second SL-PRS resource (s) . For example, the second resource selection probability may be lower than the first resource selection probability. In this case, the first terminal device 110-1 may further select, based on the resource selection probability among different resource selection probabilities, a SL-PRS resource (for example, to transmit an SL-PRS) .
[0084] Now reference is made back to FIG. 2. At block 240, the second terminal device 110-2 detects blindly the PSCCH DMRS, for example, the second terminal device 110-2 may detect blindly the PSCCH DMRS with the number of sets of sequences for PSCCH DMRS associated with the PSCCH resource.
[0085] Specifically, if the PSCCH resource configuration information comprises association of the number of sets of sequences for PSCCH DMRS with the PSCCH resource, the second terminal device 110-2 may receive an SL-PRS in an SL-PRS resource among the at least one SL-PRS resource associated with the PSCCH resource, and measure the received SL-PRS in the SL-PRS resource. In this case, in order to detect blindly the PSCCH DMRS, the second terminal device 110-2 may calculate a cross-correlation between the received PSCCH DMRS and local PSCCH DMRS copy using sequence (s) out of the number of sets of sequences for PSCCH DMRS associated with the PSCCH resource, then if the calculated cross-correlation is larger than a threshold, the second terminal device 110-2 may decode the PSCCH transmission assuming that the local PSCCH DMRS copy is applied, and if the PSCCH transmission is decoded (successfully) , the second terminal device 110-2 may detect the PSCCH DMRS. If the second terminal device 110-2 determines that the PSCCH DMRS is detected, the second terminal device 110-2 may accordingly measure the SL-PRS in the SL-PRS resource of the at least one SL-PRS resources associated with the PSCCH resource for the PSCCH DMRS.
[0086] In this case, if the size of the PSCCH resource in time domain is 2 symbols, and the time domain OCC for the PSCCH DMRS may be that, for symbol index 0, Wt, 1 (0) = 1 and Wt, 2 (0) =1, and for symbol index 1, Wt, 1 (1) = 1 and Wt, 2 (1) = -1, here Wt, i (l) is a parameter for the time domain OCC, l is the symbol index of symbols in the PSCCH resource, the value of l is 0 or 1, i is the index of sets of sequences for PSCCH DMRS, the value of i is 1 or 2, and t represents time domain. If the size of the PSCCH resource in time domain is 3 symbols, and the time domain OCC for the PSCCH DMRS may be that, for symbol index 0, Wt, 1 (0) = 1, Wt, 2 (0) =1, and Wt, 3 (0) =1, for symbol index 1, Wt, 1 (1) = 1, Wt,2 (1) = ej2 / 3π, and Wt, 3 (1) = e-j2 / 3π, and for symbol index 2, Wt, 1 (2) = 1, Wt, 2 (2) = e-j2 / 3π, and Wt, 3 (2) = ej2 / 3π, here Wt, i (l) is a parameter for the time domain OCC, l is the symbol index of symbols in the PSCCH resource, the value of l is 0, 1 or 2, i is the index of sets of sequences for PSCCH DMRS, the value of i is 1, 2 or 3, and t represents time domain.
[0087] At the second terminal device 110-2, in order to generate the number of sets of sequences for local PSCCH DMRS copy, the second terminal device 110-2 may apply frequency domain OCC and time domain OCC to a base PSCCH DMRS. In this case, the second terminal device 110-2 may apply the frequency domain OCC to the base PSCCH DMRS in a PSCCH symbol to generate an intermediate PSCCH DMRS, and then apply the time domain OCC to the intermediate PSCCH DMRS in different PSCCH symbols including the PSCCH symbol. In order to apply the time domain OCC to the intermediate PSCCH DMRS, the second terminal device 110-2 may apply the time domain OCC to same PSCCH DMRS resource elements (REs) in the different PSCCH symbols including the PSCCH symbol.
[0088] Alternatively, in order to generate the number of sets of sequences for local PSCCH DMRS copy, the second terminal device 110-2 may apply frequency domain OCC to the base PSCCH DMRS. In this case, for example, the second terminal device 110-2 may apply frequency domain OCC to the base PSCCH DMRS to generate 3k orthogonal PSCCH-DMRS sequences, then divide the 3k orthogonal PSCCH-DMRS sequences into k sets of sequences for the PSCCH-DMRS.
[0089] In this way, more robust PSCCH transmission in a PSCCH resource with one-to-more mapping can be enabled with little impact to specification. PSCCH collisions can be mitigated if multiple UEs use different SL-PRS resources associated with the same PSCCH resource. Meanwhile, no addition signaling is needed in SCI to indicate which SL-PRS resource of the SL-PRS resources associated with the PSCCH resource is used, thus signaling overhead can be decreased.
[0090] Hereinbefore, some examples of the present disclosure are generally described with reference to a high level signaling chart FIG. 2. In the following, some further examples of the present disclosure are described with reference to FIGS. 3-5.
[0091] FIG. 3 illustrates a one-to-more mapping relationship 300 between the PSCCH resource and SL-PRS resources in the same slot in accordance with some example embodiments of the present disclosure. In particular, FIG. 3 shows one-to-two mapping relationship 300 between the PSCCH resource and SL-PRS resources in the same slot. For the purpose of discussion, the one-to-more mapping relationship 300 will be described with reference to FIGS. 1B and 1C.
[0092] In FIG. 3, it is assumed that the PSCCH portion 331 corresponds to PSCCH portion 131 in FIG. 1C and is the same as PSCCH portion 131. Similarly, the PSCCH portion 332 is the same as PSCCH portion 132 in FIG. 1C, PRS region 340 is the same as PRS region 140 in FIG. 1C, PRB 341 is the same as PRB 141 in FIG. 1C, and the SL-PRS resources 346, 347, 348 and 349 are the same as the SL-PRS resources 146, 147, 148 and 149, respectively. And the mapping relationships are also the same as in FIG. 1C.
[0093] FIG. 3 differs from FIG. 1C in that the resource size of PSCCH portion 333 is (pre) configured to be larger than the PSCCH portion 133 in FIG. 1C. In other words, PSCCH resources with different mappings types to SL-PRS resources (1-to-k mapping between a PSCCH resource and k associated SL-PRS resources in the same slot) occupy different number of PRBs (different sl-FreqResourcePSCCH values: sl-FreqResourcePSCCH (k) for 1-to-k mapping) . More specifically, the PSCCH portion 331 having one-to-one mapping relationship with the associated SL-PRS resource 346 has less PRBs than the PSCCH portion 333 having one-to-two mapping relationship with the associated SL-PRS resources 348 and 349. Similarly, the PSCCH portion 332 having one-to-one mapping relationship with the associated SL-PRS resource 347 has less PRBs than the PSCCH portion 333 having one-to-two mapping relationship with the associated SL-PRS resources 348 and 349. In other words, the resource size in frequency domain of PSCCH portion 333 having one-to-two mapping relationship with the associated SL-PRS resources 348 and 349 is larger than the resource size of either the PSCCH portion 331 or the PSCCH portion 332 which has one-to-one mapping relationship with the associated SL-PRS resource.
[0094] For example, the set of parameters sl-FreqResourcePSCCH (k) are (pre) configured by resource pool signaling. The resource pool signaling may be, for example, a radio resource control (RRC) signaling.
[0095] In this case, a PSCCH resource with one-to-more mapping (k>1) occupies more PRBs to decrease code rate to improve PSCCH transmission robustness. This can be reflected in the following formula: sl-FreqResourcePSCCH (1) < sl-FreqResourcePSCCH (k) < k x sl-FreqResourcePSCCH (1) .
[0096] The above formula indicates that, the resource size for a PSCCH resource having a one-to-k (k>1) mapping relationship with SL-PRS resources is larger than the resource size for a PSCCH resource having a one-to-one mapping relationship with SL-PRS resource. Meanwhile, the resource size for a PSCCH resource having a one-to-k (k>1) mapping relationship with SL-PRS resources is still less than k times of the resource size for a PSCCH resource having a one-to-one mapping relationship with SL-PRS resource. In the example illustrated in FIG. 3, the value of k is 2, and the above formula implies that, for example, the resource size of PSCCH region 333 is larger than PSCCH region 331 but is still less than 2 times of the resource size of PSCCH region 331.
[0097] In this way, because the resource size of PSCCH region 333 is larger than the resource size of PSCCH region 331, code rate can be decreased, and PSCCH transmission robustness can be improved.
[0098] FIG. 4 illustrates a signaling chart illustrating another example communication process 400 in accordance with some embodiments of the present disclosure. The communication process 400 may involve a first terminal device (for example, the first terminal device 110-1 as illustrated in FIG. 1A) and a network device (for example, the network device 120 as illustrated in FIG. 1A) . In the following, the communication process 400 will be described with reference to first terminal device 110-1 and network device 120 as illustrated in FIGS. 1A and 3.
[0099] In the example as illustrated in FIG. 4, at 410, the first terminal device receives PSCCH resource configuration information from the network device. For example, the first terminal device may receive, in source pool signaling, PSCCH resource sizes and RSRP thresholds for different mapping types. For example, for 1-to-k (k>1) mapping type (i.e., one-to-more mapping type, which is described with reference to FIG. 3) , PSCCH resource sizes can be indicated with sl-FreqResourcePSCCH (k) , and RSRP thresholds can be indicated with Th (pi, pj, k) .
[0100] As mentioned above, the resource size for a PSCCH resource having a 1-to-k (k>1) mapping relationship with SL-PRS resources may be (pre) configured to be larger than the resource size for a PSCCH resource having a one-to-one mapping relationship with SL-PRS resource. Meanwhile, the resource size for a PSCCH resource having a 1-to-k (k>1) mapping relationship with SL-PRS resources is still less than k times of the resource size for a PSCCH resource having a 1-to-1 mapping relationship with SL-PRS resource. For example, in FIG. 3, the value of k is 2, and the resource size of PSCCH region 333 (pre) configured to be larger than PSCCH region 331 but is still less than 2 times of the resource size of PSCCH region 331.
[0101] Also, the set of parameters Th (pi, pj, k) may be (pre) configured by resource pool signaling, which may be, for example, an RRC signaling. Lower RSRP threshold can be (pre) configured to deprioritize the selection of a PSCCH resource with one-to-more mapping.
[0102] Then, at 415, the first terminal device selects a PSCCH resource using RSRP thresholds for different mapping types. In order to deprioritize the selection of a PSCCH resource with one-to-more mapping, a lower RSRP threshold can be (pre) configured to the first terminal device. In this way, for example, the PSCCH resource indicated by PSCCH regions 331 and 332 (which have one-to-one mapping type to associated SL-PRS resources) are more likely to be selected than the PSCCH resource indicated by PSCCH region 333 (which has one-to-more mapping type to associated SL-PRS resources) .
[0103] At 420, the first terminal device determines whether the PSCCH resource has one-to-more mapping with SL-PRS resources. If the PSCCH resource does not have one-to-more mapping with SL-PRS resources, then legacy operations may be performed. For example, the PSCCH resource indicated by PSCCH regions 331 and 332 each has one-to-one mapping type with associated SL-PRS resources, so in this case, at 450, the first terminal device selects the SL-PRS resource associated with the PSCCH resource, and at 455, the first terminal device generates a PSCCH DMRS as NR release 16. More specifically, for the example illustrated in FIG. 3, since the PSCCH resource indicated by PSCCH regions 331 and 332 each has one-to-one mapping type to associated SL-PRS resources, the first terminal device may, at 450, select the SL-PRS resource 346 associated with the PSCCH resource indicated by PSCCH region 331, and generate, at 455, a PSCCH DMRS as NR release 16 using the PSCCH resource indicated by PSCCH region 331. Alternatively, the first terminal device may, at 450, select the SL-PRS resource 347 associated with the PSCCH resource indicated by PSCCH region 332, and generate, at 455, a PSCCH DMRS as NR release 16 using the PSCCH resource indicated by PSCCH region 332.
[0104] On the other hand, at 420, if the PSCCH resource has one-to-more mapping with SL-PRS resources, then operations according to the present disclosure may be performed. More specifically, at 425, the first terminal device selects an SL-PRS resource randomly from the SL-PRS resources associated with the PSCCH resource. In other words, if a PSCCH resource with one-to-more mapping is selected, a Tx UE may select a SL-PRS resource randomly from the SL-PRS resources associated with the selected PSCCH resource. More specifically, in the example illustrated in FIG. 3, if the PSCCH resource indicated by PSCCH region 333 in FIG. 3 is selected, the first terminal device, as a Tx UE, may select a SL-PRS resource randomly from the SL-PRS resources associated with the PSCCH resource, i.e., from the SL-PRS resources 348 and 349 associated with the PSCCH region 333.
[0105] At 430, the first terminal device generates a PSCCH DMRS by applying frequency domain OCC to a base PSCCH DMRS as NR release 16. This is a legacy operation and detailed description is omitted here. At 435, the first terminal device applies time domain OCC sequence (Wt, i (l) ) (i is ranging from 1 to k) on the PSCCH DMRS if the selected SL-PRS resource is the ith resource of the SL-PRS resources associated with the PSCCH resource. Continue with the example illustrated in FIG. 3, at 420, the PSCCH resource indicated by PSCCH region 333 in FIG. 3 is selected, and at 425, the first terminal device selects a SL-PRS resource randomly from the SL-PRS resources 348 and 349 associated with the PSCCH region 333. Here, for simplicity of description, it is assumed that the first terminal device selects randomly SL-PRS resources 348 associated with the PSCCH region 333.
[0106] The k sets of sequences for PSCCH DMRS can be generated by applying both frequency domain OCC and time domain OCC to DMRS. Alternatively, the k sets of sequences for PSCCH DMRS can be generated by only applying frequency domain OCC to DMRS in each PSCCH symbol.
[0107] In case both frequency domain OCC and time domain OCC are applied to DMRS to generate k sets of sequences for PSCCH DMRS, the first terminal device may apply frequency domain OCC to a PSCCH DMRS (for example, a base PSCCH DMRS) in each PSCCH symbol at first, for example to generate an intermediate PSCCH DMRS. This may be done in the same way as specified in NR Rel-16, for example, frequency domain OCC length for PSCCH-DMRS is 3 with the OCC sequences listed in the following Table 1 (k’ corresponds to DMRS REs, i corresponds to different OCC sequences) . In this way, 3 orthogonal PSCCH-DMRS sequences can be generated for a set of sequences.
[0108] Table 1
[0109] Then, the first terminal device may apply time domain OCC to the intermediate PSCCH DMRS in different PSCCH symbols. For example, the first terminal device may apply time domain OCC to same DMRS REs in different PSCCH symbols.
[0110] Specifically, in case of PSCCH with 2 symbols (i.e., sl-TimeResourcePSCCH = 2) , the first terminal device may apply the time domain OCC sequences as listed in the following Table 2 to PSCCH-DMRS. In Table 2, l corresponds to PSCCH symbols, and i corresponds to different sets of sequences.
[0111] Table 2
[0112] Alternatively, in case of PSCCH with 3 symbols (i.e., sl-TimeResourcePSCCH =3) , the first terminal device may apply the time domain OCC sequences as listed in the following Table 3 to PSCCH-DMRS. In Table 3, l corresponds to PSCCH symbols, and i corresponds to different sets of sequences) .
[0113] Table 3
[0114] In case only frequency domain OCC is applied to DMRS in each PSCCH symbol to generate k sets of sequences for PSCCH DMRS, frequency domain OCC length for PSCCH-DMRS may be set to 3k. In this way, 3k orthogonal PSCCH-DMRS sequences can be generated and then divided into k sets of sequences for PSCCH-DMRS, therefore OCC sequences from different sets of sequences among the k sets of sequences for PSCCH-DMRS are orthogonal to each other.
[0115] Reference is now made back to FIG. 4. At 440, the first terminal device encodes the SCI, and at 445, the first terminal device forms the PSCCH. Then, the first terminal device transmits the PSCCH to a second terminal device (for example, the second terminal device 110-2 as illustrated in FIG. 1A) .
[0116] It is to be noted that, though in the example communication process 400, RSRP thresholds are used to select a PSCCH resource at 415, resource size of PSCCH region 333 having a 1-to-2 mapping type with associated SL-PRS resources 348 and 349 is (pre) configured to be larger than PSCCH region 331 or 332 having a 1-to-1 mapping type with associated SL-PRS resources (which is also described in detail with reference to FIG. 3) , and time domain OCC is applied on the PSCCH DMRS at 435, one or two of operations using RSRP thresholds differentiation, resource size differentiation, or time domain OCC can be omitted, in other words, operations using RSRP thresholds differentiation, resource size differentiation, or time domain OCC may be used separately and still achieve improvements over conventional solutions.
[0117] In this way, more robust PSCCH transmission in a PSCCH resource with one-to-more mapping can be enabled with little impact to specification.
[0118] Specifically, in a PSCCH resource with 1-to-k mapping (k>1) (for example, in the PSCCH resource indicated by PSCCH region 333 as illustrated in FIG. 3, which has a 1-to-2 mapping type with associated SL-PRS resources 348 and 349) , the second terminal device, as an Rx UE blindly decodes a PSCCH with different time domain OCC sequences applied. The Rx UE can measure SL-PRS in the ith resource of the SL-PRS resources associated with the PSCCH resource if the PSCCH is decoded assuming PSCCH DMRS with time domain OCC sequence (Wt, i (l) ) applied. This will be described in more detail with reference to FIG. 5.
[0119] FIG. 5 illustrates a signaling chart illustrating a further example communication process 500 in accordance with some embodiments of the present disclosure. FIG. 5 shows the detailed example procedure of how to detect the PSCCH DMRS with encoded SCI as illustrated in FIG. 4. The communication process 500 may involve a second terminal device (for example, the second terminal device 110-2 as illustrated in FIG. 1A) and a network device (for example, the network device 120 as illustrated in FIG. 1A) . For the purpose of discussion, the communication process 500 will be described with reference to FIGS. 1A and 3.
[0120] As illustrated in FIG. 5, at 510, the second terminal device, as an Rx UE, starts decoding PSCCH in a PSCCH resource with 1-to-k (k>1) mapping. More specifically, in the example as illustrated in FIG. 3, the second terminal device may start decoding PSCCH in a PSCCH resource as indicated by PSCCH region 333, which has a 1-2 mapping type with associated SL-PRS resources, i.e., SL-PRS resources 348 and 349 as illustrated in FIG. 3.
[0121] At 515, the second terminal device calculates cross-correlation between received PSCCH DMRS and a local PSCCH DMRS copy with a pair of frequency domain OCC sequence and time domain OCC sequence applied. More specifically, the second terminal device may locally apply a pair of frequency domain OCC sequence and time domain OCC sequence to generate a local PSCCH DMRS, and then calculate cross-correlation between the received PSCCH DMRS from the first terminal device and the locally generated PSCCH DMRS by applying the pair of frequency domain OCC sequence and time domain OCC sequence to a base PSCCH DMRS (i.e., a base sequence) .
[0122] Then, at 520, the second terminal device determines whether the calculated cross-correlation obtained at 515 is larger than a threshold. If the calculated cross-correlation is not larger than a threshold (i.e., is equal to or smaller than) the threshold, the second terminal device may go to 545.
[0123] Otherwise if the calculated cross-correlation obtained at 515 is larger than the threshold, then at 525, the second terminal device may assume that the received DMRS has been applied with the pair of frequency domain OCC sequence and time domain OCC sequence, for example, by the first terminal device when forming the PSCCH transmission comprising the PSCCH DMRS, and decode the PSCCH transmission based on such assumption.
[0124] At 530, the second terminal device determines whether a CRC check is passed. If CRC check is not passed, again the operation of the second terminal device goes to 545. If CRC check is passed, then, at 535, the second terminal device determines whether SL-PRS is destined for the Rx UE (here, the second terminal device) based on the SCI. If based on the SCI, the SL-PRS is not destined for the Rx UE, then again the operation of the second terminal device goes to 545. If based on the SCI, the SL-PRS is destined for the second terminal device (as the Rx UE) , the second terminal device continues with operations at 540. Operations at 530 and 535 are legacy operations and detailed description thereof is omitted here for simplicity.
[0125] At 540, the second terminal device measures SL-PRS in the ith (i is ranging from 1 to k) resource of the SL-PRS resources associated with the PSCCH resource on which the PSCCH is decoded assuming PSCCH DMRS with time domain OCC sequence (Wt, i (l) ) applied. More specifically, for the example illustrated in FIG. 3, the second terminal device measures SL-PRS in the ith (i is ranging from 1 to k, here k=2) resource of the SL-PRS resources associated with the PSCCH resource (i.e., the PSCCH resource indicated by PSCCH region 333 in FIG. 3) on which the PSCCH is decoded assuming PSCCH DMRS with time domain OCC sequence (Wt, i (l) ) applied. More information on the time domain OCC sequence (Wt, i (l) ) may be found in Table 3, Table 4 and related description above.
[0126] At 545, the second terminal device determines whether all pairs of frequency domain OCC sequence and time domain OCC sequence are tried. If not all pairs of frequency domain OCC sequence and time domain OCC sequence are tried, then again the operation of the second terminal device goes back to 515. If all pairs of frequency domain OCC sequence and time domain OCC sequence are tried, then the decoding process on the received PSCCH transmission from the first terminal device terminates at the second terminal device.
[0127] In this way, more robust PSCCH transmission in a PSCCH resource with one-to-more mapping can be enabled with little impact to specification.
[0128] FIG. 6 illustrates a flowchart of an example method 600 implemented at a first terminal device (for example, the first terminal device 110-1 as illustrated in FIGS. 1A and 2) in accordance with some other embodiments of the present disclosure. For the purpose of discussion, the method 600 will be described from the perspective of the first terminal device 110-1 with reference to FIG. 1A.
[0129] As illustrated in FIG. 6, at block 610, the first terminal device 110-1 determines physical sidelink control channel (PSCCH) resource configuration information of a PSCCH resource, wherein the PSCCH resource configuration information comprises at least one of the following: an association of a number of sets of sequences for PSCCH demodulation reference signal (DMRS) with a PSCCH resource, wherein the PSCCH resource is associated with at least one sidelink positioning reference signal (SL-PRS) resource, and a PSCCH transmission on the PSCCH resource indicating and / or reserving a SL-PRS resource among the at least one SL-PRS resource uses a set of sequences among the number of sets of sequences for PSCCH DMRS; or an association of a number of physical resource blocks (PRBs) with a PSCCH resource, wherein the PSCCH resource has a mapping type related to at least one SL-PRS resource; or an association of a reference signal received power (RSRP) threshold with a PSCCH resource, wherein the PSCCH resource has a mapping type related to at least one SL-PRS resource. At block 620, the first terminal device 110-1 transmits, to a second terminal device (for example, the second terminal device 110-2 as illustrated in FIGS. 1A and 2) , a PSCCH transmission using a PSCCH DMRS on the PSCCH resource, wherein the PSCCH DMRS is associated with an SL-PRS resource among the at least one SL-PRS resource.
[0130] In some example embodiments, in order to determine the PSCCH resource configuration information, the first terminal device 110-1 may receive, from a network device (for example, the network device 120 as illustrated in FIGS. 1A and 2) and via a resource pool signaling, the PSCCH resource configuration information (for example, the PSCCH resource configuration information 201 as illustrate in FIG. 2) . For example, the resource pool signaling may be a radio resource control (RRC) signaling.
[0131] In some example embodiments, the PSCCH resource configuration information may comprise the association of the number of sets of sequences for PSCCH DMRS with the PSCCH resource, and two sequences in a set of sequences among the number of sets of sequences for PSCCH DMRS may have a zero cross-correlation or a cross-correlation below a threshold. In addition or as an alternative, two sequences from two sets of sequences among the number of sets of sequences for PSCCH DMRS may have a zero cross-correlation or a cross-correlation below a threshold.
[0132] In some example embodiments, the SL-PRS resource may be associated with the PSCCH DMRS via orthogonal cover code (OCC) sequence. In this case, in order to generate the number of sets of sequences for PSCCH DMRS, the first terminal device 110-1 may apply frequency domain OCC and time domain OCC to a base PSCCH DMRS. As an alternative, the first terminal device 110-1 may apply frequency domain OCC to a base PSCCH DMRS. Specifically, in some example embodiments, in order to generate the number of sets of sequences for PSCCH DMRS, the first terminal device 110-1 may apply the frequency domain OCC to the base PSCCH DMRS in a PSCCH symbol to generate an intermediate PSCCH DMRS, and then apply the time domain OCC to the intermediate PSCCH DMRS in different PSCCH symbols including the PSCCH symbol. In order to apply the time domain OCC to the intermediate PSCCH DMRS, the first terminal device may apply the time domain OCC to same PSCCH DMRS resource elements (REs) in the different PSCCH symbols including the PSCCH symbol.
[0133] In some example embodiments, if the size of the PSCCH resource in time domain is 2 symbols, and the time domain OCC for the PSCCH DMRS may be that: for symbol index 0, Wt, 1 (0) = 1 and Wt, 2 (0) =1, and for symbol index 1, Wt, 1 (1) = 1 and Wt, 2 (1) = -1. Here, Wt, i (l) is a parameter for the time domain OCC, l is the symbol index of symbols in the PSCCH resource, the value of l is 0 or 1, i is the index of sets of sequences for PSCCH DMRS, the value of i is 1 or 2, and t represents time domain.
[0134] In some example embodiments, if the size of the PSCCH resource in time domain is 3 symbols, and the time domain OCC for the PSCCH DMRS may be that: for symbol index 0, Wt, 1 (0) = 1, Wt, 2 (0) =1, and Wt, 3 (0) =1, for symbol index 1, Wt, 1 (1) = 1, Wt, 2 (1) = ej2 / 3π, and Wt, 3 (1) = e-j2 / 3π, and for symbol index 2, Wt, 1 (2) = 1, Wt, 2 (2) = e-j2 / 3π, and Wt, 3 (2) = ej2 / 3π. Here, Wt, i (l) is a parameter for the time domain OCC, l is the symbol index of symbols in the PSCCH resource, the value of l is 0, 1 or 2, i is the index of sets of sequences for PSCCH DMRS, the value of i is 1, 2 or 3, and t represents time domain.
[0135] Specifically, in some example embodiments, in order to generate the number of sets of sequences for PSCCH DMRS, the first terminal device 110-1 may apply the frequency domain OCC to the base PSCCH DMRS to generate 3k orthogonal PSCCH-DMRS sequences, and then divide the 3k orthogonal PSCCH-DMRS sequences into k sets of sequences for the PSCCH-DMRS.
[0136] In some example embodiments, if the PSCCH resource configuration information comprises the association of the number of PRBs with the PSCCH resource, it is assumed that the PSCCH resource is a first PSCCH resource, the at least one SL-PRS resource is a first SL-PRS resource, the first PSCCH resource has a 1-to-1 mapping type to the first SL-PRS resource, and a second PSCCH resource has a 1-to-n mapping type to a second SL-PRS resource (s) where n is an integer larger than 1. In this case, the first terminal device 110-1 may assign a first number of PRBs to the first PSCCH resource, and assign a second number of PRBs to the second PSCCH resource. In one example, the second number may be different from the first number. In another example, in this case, the number of the second SL-PRS resource (s) may be N, and the second number may be less than N times of the first number.
[0137] In some example embodiments, the PSCCH resource configuration information comprises the association of the RSRP threshold with the PSCCH resource. In this case, the first terminal device 110-1 may assign a first RSRP threshold to the first PSCCH resource, and assign a second RSRP threshold to the second PSCCH resource. For example, the second RSRP threshold may be lower than the first RSRP threshold. Further, the first terminal device 110-1 may select, based on an RSRP threshold among different RSRP thresholds, a PSCCH resource among a plurality of PSCCH resources comprising the PSCCH resource, and select an SL-PRS resource randomly from the at least one SL-PRS resources. Then, the first terminal device 110-1 may transmit the PSCCH transmission using the PSCCH DMRS on the selected PSCCH resource and transmit the SL-PRS on the selected SL-PRS resource. In some example embodiments, in order to select the SL-PRS resource randomly, the first terminal device 110-1 may determine whether the selected PSCCH resource is associated with more than one SL-PRS resource, and if so (the selected PSCCH resource is associated with more than one SL-PRS resource) , select the SL-PRS resource randomly from the more than one SL-PRS resource.
[0138] In this way, more robust PSCCH transmission in a PSCCH resource with one-to-more mapping can be enabled with little impact to specification. PSCCH collisions can be mitigated if multiple UEs use different SL-PRS resources associated with the same PSCCH resource. Meanwhile, no addition signaling is needed in SCI to indicate which SL-PRS resource of the SL-PRS resources associated with the PSCCH is used, thus signaling overhead can be decreased.
[0139] FIG. 7 illustrates a flowchart of an example method 700 implemented at a second terminal device (for example, the second terminal device 110-2 as illustrated in FIGS. 1A and 2) in accordance with some other embodiments of the present disclosure. For the purpose of discussion, the method 700 will be described from the perspective of the second terminal device 120 with reference to FIGS. 1A and 2.
[0140] As illustrated in FIG. 7, at block 710, the second terminal device 110-2 determines physical sidelink control channel (PSCCH) resource configuration information of a PSCCH resource. Here, the PSCCH resource configuration information may comprise an association of a number of sets of sequences for PSCCH demodulation reference signal (DMRS) with a PSCCH resource, where the PSCCH resource is associated with at least one sidelink positioning reference signal (SL-PRS) resource, and a PSCCH transmission on the PSCCH resource indicating and / or reserving a SL-PRS resource among the at least one SL-PRS resource uses a set of sequences among the number of sets of sequences for PSCCH DMRS. In addition or as an alternative, the PSCCH resource configuration information may comprise an association of a number of physical resource blocks (PRBs) with a PSCCH resource, wherein the PSCCH resource has a mapping type related to at least one SL-PRS resource. In addition or as an alternative, the PSCCH resource configuration information may comprise an association of a reference signal received power (RSRP) threshold with a PSCCH resource, wherein the PSCCH resource has a mapping type related to at least one SL-PRS resource. At block 720, the second terminal device 110-2 receives, from a first terminal device (for example, the first terminal device 110-1 as illustrated in FIGS. 1A and 2) , a PSCCH transmission using a PSCCH DMRS on the PSCCH resource, where the PSCCH DMRS is associated with an SL-PRS resource among the at least one SL-PRS resource. At block 730, the second terminal device 110-2 detects blindly the PSCCH DMRS.
[0141] In some example embodiments, in order to determine the PSCCH resource configuration information, the second terminal device 110-2 may receive, from a network device (for example, the network device 120 as illustrated in FIGS. 1A and 2) and via a resource pool signaling, the PSCCH resource configuration information (for example, the PSCCH resource configuration information 202 as illustrate in FIG. 2) . For example, the resource pool signaling may be a radio resource control (RRC) signaling.
[0142] In some example embodiments, the second terminal device 110-2 may detect blindly the PSCCH DMRS with the number of sets of sequences for PSCCH DMRS associated with the PSCCH resource.
[0143] In some example embodiments, the PSCCH resource configuration information may comprise the association of the number of sets of sequences for PSCCH DMRS with the PSCCH resource, and two sequences in a set of sequences among the number of sets of sequences for PSCCH DMRS may have a zero cross-correlation or a cross-correlation below a threshold. In addition or as an alternative, two sequences from two sets of sequences among the number of sets of sequences for PSCCH DMRS may have a zero cross-correlation or a cross-correlation below a threshold.
[0144] In some example embodiments, the SL-PRS resource may be associated with the PSCCH DMRS via orthogonal cover code (OCC) sequence.
[0145] In some example embodiments, the PSCCH resource configuration information comprises association of the number of sets of sequences for PSCCH DMRS with the PSCCH resource, and the second terminal device 110-2 may receive an SL-PRS in an SL-PRS resource among the at least one SL-PRS resource associated with the PSCCH resource, and measure the received SL-PRS in the SL-PRS resource.
[0146] In some example embodiments, in order to detect blindly the PSCCH DMRS, the second terminal device 110-2 may calculate a cross-correlation between the received PSCCH DMRS and local PSCCH DMRS copy using sequence (s) out of the number of sets of sequences for PSCCH DMRS associated with the PSCCH resource. If so (the calculated cross-correlation is larger than a threshold) , the second terminal device 110-2 may then decode the PSCCH transmission assuming that the local PSCCH DMRS copy is applied. If the PSCCH transmission is decoded (successfully) , the second terminal device 110-2 may then detect the PSCCH DMRS.
[0147] In some example embodiments, the second terminal device 110-2 may determine whether the PSCCH DMRS is detected. If so (the PSCCH DMRS is detected) , the second terminal device 110-2 may then measure the SL-PRS in the SL-PRS resource of the at least one SL-PRS resources associated with the PSCCH resource for the PSCCH DMRS.
[0148] In some example embodiments, the size of the PSCCH resource in time domain is 2 symbols, and the time domain OCC for the PSCCH DMRS may be that: for symbol index 0, Wt, 1 (0) = 1 and Wt, 2 (0) =1, and for symbol index 1, Wt, 1 (1) = 1 and Wt, 2 (1) = -1.
[0149] In some example embodiments, the size of the PSCCH resource in time domain is 3 symbols, and the time domain OCC for the PSCCH DMRS may be that: for symbol index 0, Wt, 1 (0) = 1, Wt, 2 (0) =1, and Wt, 3 (0) =1, for symbol index 1, Wt, 1 (1) = 1, Wt, 2 (1) = ej2 / 3π, and Wt, 3 (1) = e-j2 / 3π, and for symbol index 2, Wt, 1 (2) = 1, Wt, 2 (2) = e-j2 / 3π, and Wt,3 (2) = ej2 / 3π.
[0150] In some example embodiments, in order to generate the number of sets of sequences for local PSCCH DMRS copy, the second terminal device 110-2 may apply frequency domain orthogonal cover code (OCC) and time domain OCC to a base PSCCH DMRS. As an alternative, the second terminal device 110-2 may apply frequency domain OCC to the base PSCCH DMRS. Specifically, in some example embodiments, in order to generate the number of sets of sequences for local PSCCH DMRS copy, the second terminal device 110-2 may apply the frequency domain OCC to the base PSCCH DMRS in a PSCCH symbol to generate an intermediate PSCCH DMRS, and then apply the time domain OCC to the intermediate PSCCH DMRS in different PSCCH symbols including the PSCCH symbol. For example, in order to apply the time domain OCC to the intermediate PSCCH DMRS, the second terminal device 110-2 may apply the time domain OCC to same PSCCH DMRS resource elements (REs) in the different PSCCH symbols including the PSCCH symbol.
[0151] Specifically, in some example embodiments, in order to generate the number of sets of sequences for local PSCCH DMRS copy, the second terminal device 110-2 may apply the frequency domain OCC to the base PSCCH DMRS to generate 3k (k is the number of sets of sequences) orthogonal PSCCH-DMRS sequences, and then divide the 3k orthogonal PSCCH-DMRS sequences into k sets of sequences for the PSCCH-DMRS.
[0152] In this way, more robust PSCCH transmission in a PSCCH resource with one-to-more mapping can be enabled with little impact to specification.
[0153] FIG. 8 illustrates another flowchart of another example method 800 implemented at a network device (for example, the network device 120 as illustrated in FIGS. 1A and 2) in accordance with some other embodiments of the present disclosure. For the purpose of discussion, the method 800 will be described from the perspective of the network device 120 with reference to FIGS. 1A and 2.

[0155] In some example embodiments, in order to transmit the PSCCH resource configuration information to the terminal device, the network device 120 may transmit the PSCCH resource configuration information to the terminal device via a resource pool signaling. More specifically, in the example illustrated in FIG. 2, the network device 120 may transmit (215) the PSCCH resource configuration information 201 to the first terminal device 110-1 via a resource pool signaling, and transmit (220) the PSCCH resource configuration information 202 to the first terminal device 110-2 via a resource pool signaling.
