AI Technical Summary

Technical Problem

Current wireless communication systems lack efficient mechanisms for event-based measurement reporting, particularly in scenarios involving multiple cells and beams, which hinders optimal network performance and user equipment (UE) mobility.

Method used

The proposed solution involves a UE that receives configurations for specific events from a base station (BS), performs measurements on multiple beams, and transmits measurement reports when predefined events are satisfied. These events include threshold-based conditions for beam quality improvements or deteriorations in serving, neighbor, and candidate cells.

Benefits of technology

This approach enables more precise and timely measurement reporting, allowing the BS to make informed decisions about UE mobility and resource allocation, thereby enhancing network performance and user experience.

[0043] In a communication system, an NE (e.g., a BS) may receive an L1 measurement report from a UE. Mechanisms for event-triggered (or event-based) L1 measurement reporting are desired. The present disclosure provides solutions for performing event-based L1 measurement reporting. For example, various beam-based events that can be used to trigger L1 measurement reporting are provided. For example, the triggering events and the measurement reporting may be based on a plurality of beams. For example, various entering conditions and leaving conditions of the triggering events are provided.

[0044] FIG. 1 illustrates a schematic diagram of wireless communication system 100 in accordance with some embodiments of the present disclosure.

[0046] The one or more NEs 102 may be dispersed throughout a geographic region to form the wireless communication system 100. One or more of the NEs 102 described herein may be or include or may be referred to as a network node, a base station, a network element, a network function, a network entity, a radio access network (RAN) , a NodeB, an eNodeB (eNB) , a next-generation NodeB (gNB) , or other suitable terminology. In some embodiments of the present disclosure, an NE 102 may include a centralized unit (CU) and one or more distributed units (DUs) . An F1 interface may be established between the DU of NE 102 and the CU of NE 102.

[0047] An NE 102 and a UE 104 may communicate via a communication link, which may be a wireless or wired connection. For example, an NE 102 and a UE 104 may perform wireless communication (e.g., receive signaling, transmit signaling) over a Uu interface.

[0048] An NE 102 may provide a geographic coverage area for which the NE 102 may support services for one or more UEs 104 within the geographic coverage area. For example, an NE 102 and a UE 104 may support wireless communication of signals related to services (e.g., voice, video, packet data, messaging, broadcast, etc. ) according to one or multiple radio access technologies. In some implementations, an NE 102 may be moveable, for example, a satellite associated with a non-terrestrial network (NTN) . In some implementations, different geographic coverage areas 112 associated with the same or different radio access technologies may overlap, but the different geographic coverage areas may be associated with a different NE 102.

[0049] The one or more UEs 104 may be dispersed throughout a geographic region of the wireless communication system 100. A UE 104 may include or may be referred to as a remote unit, a mobile device, a wireless device, a remote device, a subscriber device, a transmitter device, a receiver device, or some other suitable terminology. In some implementations, the UE 104 may be referred to as a unit, a station, a terminal, or a client, among other examples. Additionally, or alternatively, the UE 104 may be  referred to as an Internet-of-Things (IoT) device, an Internet-of-Everything (IoE) device, or machine-type communication (MTC) device, among other examples.

[0050] A UE 104 may be able to support wireless communication directly with other UEs 104 over a communication link. For example, a UE 104 may support wireless communication directly with another UE 104 over a device-to-device (D2D) communication link. In some implementations, such as vehicle-to-vehicle (V2V) deployments, vehicle-to-everything (V2X) deployments, or cellular-V2X deployments, the communication link 114 may be referred to as a sidelink. For example, a UE 104 may support wireless communication directly with another UE 104 over a PC5 interface.

[0051] A relaying function based on a sidelink may be supported in the wireless communication system 100. For example, a UE 104 supporting sidelink communication may function as a relay node to extend the coverage of an NE 102 (e.g., a BS) . An out-of-coverage or in-coverage UE may communicate with a BS via a relay node (e.g., a relay UE) . In some implementations, a UE, which functions as a relay between another UE and a BS, may be referred to as a UE-to-network (U2N) relay.

[0052] An NE 102 may support communication with the CN 106, or with another NE 102, or both. For example, an NE 102 may interface with another NE 102 or the CN 106 through one or more backhaul links (e.g., S1, N2, N3 or another network interface) . In some implementations, the NE 102 may communicate with each other directly. In some other implementations, the NE 102 may communicate with each other or indirectly (e.g., via the CN 106. In some implementations, one or more NEs 102 may include subcomponents, such as an access network entity, which may be an example of an access node controller (ANC) . An ANC may communicate with the one or more UEs 104 through one or more other access network transmission entities, which may be referred to as radio heads, smart radio heads, or transmission-reception points (TRPs) .

[0053] The CN 106 may support user authentication, access authorization, tracking, connectivity, and other access, routing, or mobility functions. The CN 106 may be an evolved packet core (EPC) , or a 5G core (5GC) , which may include a control plane entity that manages access and mobility (e.g., a mobility management entity (MME) ,  an access and mobility management function (AMF) ) and a user plane entity that routes packets or interconnects to external networks (e.g., a serving gateway (S-GW) , a Packet Data Network (PDN) gateway (P-GW) , or a user plane function (UPF) ) . In some implementations, the control plane entity may manage non-access stratum (NAS) functions, such as mobility, authentication, and bearer management (e.g., data bearers, signal bearers, etc. ) for the one or more UEs 104 served by the one or more NEs 102 associated with the CN 106.

[0054] The CN 106 may communicate with a packet data network over one or more backhaul links (e.g., via an S1, N2, N3, or another network interface) . The packet data network may include an application server. In some implementations, one or more UEs 104 may communicate with the application server. A UE 104 may establish a session (e.g., a protocol data unit (PDU) session, or the like) with the CN 106 via an NE 102. The CN 106 may route traffic (e.g., control information, data, and the like) between the UE 104 and the application server using the established session (e.g., the established PDU session) . The PDU session may be an example of a logical connection between the UE 104 and the CN 106 (e.g., one or more network functions of the CN 106) .

[0055] In the wireless communication system 100, the NEs 102 and the UEs 104 may use resources of the wireless communication system 100 (e.g., time resources (e.g., symbols, slots, subframes, frames, or the like) or frequency resources (e.g., subcarriers, carriers) ) to perform various operations (e.g., wireless communication) . In some implementations, the NEs 102 and the UEs 104 may support different resource structures. For example, the NEs 102 and the UEs 104 may support different frame structures. In some implementations, such as in 4G, the NEs 102 and the UEs 104 may support a single frame structure. In some other implementations, such as in 5G and among other suitable radio access technologies, the NEs 102 and the UEs 104 may support various frame structures (i.e., multiple frame structures) . The NEs 102 and the UEs 104 may support various frame structures based on one or more numerologies.

[0056] In some embodiments, the NEs 102 may include one or more relay nodes, integrated access and backhaul (IAB) nodes or wireless access backhaul (WAB) nodes which can provide wireless access services for UEs 104. A relay node (or an IAB  node or a WAB node) can directly connect to a BS or hop through one or more relay nodes (or one or more IAB or WAB nodes) before reaching the BS.

[0057] One or more numerologies may be supported in the wireless communication system 100, and a numerology may include a subcarrier spacing and a cyclic prefix. A first numerology (e.g., μ=0) may be associated with a first subcarrier spacing (e.g., 15 kHz) and a normal cyclic prefix. In some implementations, the first numerology (e.g., μ=0) associated with the first subcarrier spacing (e.g., 15 kHz) may utilize one slot per subframe. A second numerology (e.g., μ=1) may be associated with a second subcarrier spacing (e.g., 30 kHz) and a normal cyclic prefix. A third numerology (e.g., μ=2) may be associated with a third subcarrier spacing (e.g., 60 kHz) and a normal cyclic prefix or an extended cyclic prefix. A fourth numerology (e.g., μ=3) may be associated with a fourth subcarrier spacing (e.g., 120 kHz) and a normal cyclic prefix. A fifth numerology (e.g., μ=4) may be associated with a fifth subcarrier spacing (e.g., 240 kHz) and a normal cyclic prefix. A sixth numerology (e.g., μ =5) may be associated with a sixth subcarrier spacing (e.g., 480 kHz) and a normal cyclic prefix. A seventh numerology (e.g., μ=6) may be associated with a seventh subcarrier spacing (e.g., 960 kHz) and a normal cyclic prefix. For ambient IoT communication, additional numerologies (e.g., μ=-1 or μ =-2) may be introduced corresponding to 7.5 kHz or 3.75 kHz respectively.

[0058] A time interval of a resource (e.g., a communication resource) may be organized according to frames (also referred to as radio frames) . Each frame may have a duration, for example, a 10 millisecond (ms) duration. In some implementations, each frame may include multiple subframes. For example, each frame may include 10 subframes, and each subframe may have a duration, for example, a 1 ms duration. In some implementations, each frame may have the same duration. In some implementations, each subframe of a frame may have the same duration.

[0059] Additionally or alternatively, a time interval of a resource (e.g., a communication resource) may be organized according to slots. For example, a subframe may include a number (e.g., quantity) of slots. The number of slots in each subframe may also depend on the one or more numerologies supported in the wireless communication system 100. For instance, the first, second, third, fourth, and fifth  numerologies (i.e., μ=0, μ=1, μ=2, μ=3, μ=4) associated with respective subcarrier spacings of 15 kHz, 30 kHz, 60 kHz, 120 kHz, and 240 kHz may utilize a single slot per subframe, two slots per subframe, four slots per subframe, eight slots per subframe, and 16 slots per subframe, respectively. Each slot may include a number (e.g., quantity) of symbols (e.g., orthogonal frequency-division multiplexing (OFDM) symbols) . In some implementations, the number (e.g., quantity) of slots for a subframe may depend on a numerology. For a normal cyclic prefix, a slot may include 14 symbols. For an extended cyclic prefix (e.g., applicable for 60 kHz subcarrier spacing) , a slot may include 12 symbols. The relationship between the number of symbols per slot, the number of slots per subframe, and the number of slots per frame for a normal cyclic prefix and an extended cyclic prefix may depend on a numerology. It should be understood that reference to a first numerology (e.g., μ=0) associated with a first subcarrier spacing (e.g., 15 kHz) may be used interchangeably between subframes and slots.

[0060] In the wireless communication system 100, an electromagnetic (EM) spectrum may be split, based on frequency or wavelength, into various classes, frequency bands, frequency channels, etc. By way of example, the wireless communication system 100 may support one or multiple operating frequency bands, such as frequency range designations FR1 (410 MHz –7.125 GHz) , FR2 (24.25 GHz –52.6 GHz) , FR3 (7.125 GHz –24.25 GHz) , FR4 (52.6 GHz –114.25 GHz) , FR4a or FR4-1 (52.6 GHz –71 GHz) , and FR5 (114.25 GHz –300 GHz) . In some implementations, the NEs 102 and the UEs 104 may perform wireless communication over one or more of the operating frequency bands. In some implementations, FR1 may be used by the NEs 102 and the UEs 104, among other equipment or devices for cellular communication traffic (e.g., control information, data) . In some implementations, FR2 may be used by the NEs 102 and the UEs 104, among other equipment or devices for short-range, high data rate capabilities.

[0061] FR1 may be associated with one or multiple numerologies (e.g., at least three numerologies) . For example, FR1 may be associated with a first numerology (e.g., μ =0) , which includes 15 kHz subcarrier spacing; a second numerology (e.g., μ =1) , which includes 30 kHz subcarrier spacing; and a third numerology (e.g., μ=2) , which includes 60 kHz subcarrier spacing. FR2 may be associated with one or multiple  numerologies (e.g., at least 2 numerologies) . For example, FR2 may be associated with a third numerology (e.g., μ=2) , which includes 60 kHz subcarrier spacing; and a fourth numerology (e.g., μ=3) , which includes 120 kHz subcarrier spacing.

[0062] A UE 104 may include computing devices, such as desktop computers, laptop computers, personal digital assistants (PDAs) , tablet computers, smart televisions (e.g., televisions connected to the Internet) , set-top boxes, game consoles, security systems (including security cameras) , vehicle on-board computers, network devices (e.g., routers, switches, and modems) , or the like. According to some embodiments of the present disclosure, a UE 104 may include a portable wireless communication device, a smart phone, a cellular telephone, a flip phone, a device having a subscriber identity module, a personal computer, a selective call receiver, or any other device that is capable of sending and receiving communication signals on a wireless network. In some embodiments of the present disclosure, a UE 104 includes wearable devices, such as smart watches, fitness bands, optical head-mounted displays, or the like. Moreover, a UE 104 may be referred to as a subscriber unit, a mobile, a mobile station, a user, a terminal, a mobile terminal, a wireless terminal, a fixed terminal, a subscriber station, a user terminal, or a device, or described using other terminology used in the art. A UE 104 may communicate with an NE 102 (e.g., a BS) via uplink (UL) communication signals. An NE 102 may communicate with a UE 104 via downlink (DL) communication signals.

[0063] In some embodiments of the present disclosure, an NE 102 and a UE 104 may communicate over licensed spectrums, whereas in some other embodiments, an NE 102 and a UE 104 may communicate over unlicensed spectrums. The present disclosure is not intended to be limited to the implementation of any particular wireless communication system architecture or protocol. Persons skilled in the art should understand that as technology develops and advances, the terminologies described in the present disclosure may change, but should not affect or limit the principles and spirit of the present disclosure.

[0064] Layer 1 / layer 2 (L1 / L2) triggered mobility (LTM) is a procedure in which an NE (e.g., a BS) receives an L1 measurement report from a UE, and the NE (e.g. gNB) changes the serving cell of the UE by a cell switch command. LTM may also be  named as an L1 / L2 lower layer-triggered mobility or the like. The LTM procedure can be used to reduce mobility latency.

[0065] Embodiments of the present disclosure propose mechanisms for event-triggered (or event-based) L1 measurement reporting. For example, the event-based L1 measurement reporting may be based on a plurality of beams. For example, embodiments of the present disclosure provide various events that can be used to trigger the L1 measurement reporting. For example, embodiments of the present disclosure provide various entering conditions and leaving conditions of these triggering events.

[0066] More details on the embodiments of the present disclosure will be illustrated in the following text in combination with the appended drawings.

[0067] FIG. 2 illustrates a flow chart of exemplary method 200 for wireless communications in accordance with some embodiments of the present disclosure. Details described in all of the foregoing embodiments of the present disclosure are applicable for the embodiments shown in FIG. 2. For example, UE 204 may function as UE 104 in FIG. 1 and BS 202 may function as NE 102 shown in FIG. 1.

[0068] Referring to FIG. 2, at 211, UE 204 may connect to (or access) BS 202. For example, UE 204 may access a cell of BS 202, which can be referred to as the "serving cell" of UE 204. In some examples, UE 204 may access a network via single connectivity (e.g., via master cell group (MCG) only) and BS 202 is associated with the MCG of UE 204. In some examples, UE 204 may access the network via multi-connectivity (e.g., via dual connectivity (DC) , that is, MCG and secondary cell group (SCG) ) . For example, in addition to BS 202 which is associated with the MCG of UE 204, UE 204 may connect to another BS (denoted as BS #A1) which is associated with the SCG of UE 204. BS 202 and BS #A1 may also be referred to as an MN and an SN of UE 204, respectively.

[0069] In some embodiments, UE 204 may report the UE capability to the network (e.g., BS 202 or BS #A1) . For example, in response to receiving an inquiry from BS 202, UE 204 may report UE capability. In some examples, UE capability information may indicate one or more of the following: whether UE 204 supports Inter-CU LTM, Inter-CU MCG LTM or Inter-CU SCG LTM; whether UE 204 supports event-based L1  measurement report; and whether UE 204 supports a certain event (s) used to trigger L1 measurement report. For example, the UE capability information may indicate the ID(s) of the event (s) supported by UE 204.

[0070] At 213, BS 202 may transmit a reconfiguration message to UE 204. In some embodiments, the reconfiguration message may include configuration information associated with measurement report (e.g., event-based L1 measurement report) . For example, BS 202 may transmit a configuration for at least one event (or at least one condition) that is used to trigger measurement reporting to UE 204.

[0071] In some embodiments, the at least one event may include one or more of the following:

[0072] - beam-based event E1: a beam (s) (denoted as beam set #1) of the serving cell of UE 204 becomes better than a threshold (denoted as Th#1) ; and

[0073] - beam-based event E2: a beam (s) (denoted as beam set #2) of the serving cell of UE 204 becomes worse than a threshold (denoted as Th#2) .

[0074] In the context of the present disclosure, a beam set can include one or more beams.

[0075] In some embodiments, the configuration may include one or more of the following information: a threshold for event E1 (e.g., Th#1) ; a hysteresis value (denoted as Hys#1) for event E1, a threshold for event E2 (e.g., Th#2) ; a hysteresis value (denoted as Hys#2) for event E2; a gap used to monitor frequency; and a time duration (denoted as TD#A) used to determine whether an event is met within the duration. In some embodiments, Hys#1 may be configured by "hysteresis" as defined within reportConfigNR for event E1. In some embodiments, Hys#2 may be configured by "hysteresis" as defined within reportConfigNR for event E2.

[0076] In some embodiments, in response to receiving the configuration, UE 204 may perform measurements on a plurality of beams from a plurality of cells (e.g., the serving cell (s) , the neighbor cell (s) and the candidate cell (s) ) and evaluate the configured event (s) . For example, at 215, UE 204 may determine whether an event (e.g., at least one of event E1 or event E2) is satisfied or not based on the configuration and the measurements. At 217, UE 204 may transmit a measurement report to BS 202 in  response to an event (e.g., at least one of event E1 or event E2) being satisfied.

[0077] In some embodiments, determining whether an event is satisfied or not may include determining whether the event is satisfied within a time duration. The time duration may be configured by BS 202 (e.g., TD#A) or may be predefined. For example, UE 204 may determine an event is satisfied or may determine an event is satisfied within a configured time duration, and then UE 204 may be triggered to report measurement results of beams to BS 202.

[0078] In some embodiments, UE 204 may determine whether an event is satisfied or not based on one or more of: determining whether an entering condition of the event is satisfied or not; and determining whether a leaving condition of the event is satisfied or not.

[0079] In some embodiments, measurement reporting may be triggered in response to the entering condition of the event being satisfied or the entering condition of the event being satisfied within a time duration. The time duration may be configured by BS 202 or may be predefined.

[0080] In some embodiments, measurement reporting may be triggered in response to the leaving condition of the event being satisfied or the leaving condition of the event being satisfied within a time duration. The time duration may be configured by BS 202 or may be predefined. In some embodiments, UE 204 may receive an indication which indicates the UE to trigger beam measurement reporting in response to the leaving condition being satisfied or the leaving condition being satisfied within time duration.

[0081] In some embodiments, an entering condition of event E1 is considered to be satisfied in a case of satisfying the following inequality (1-1) ; and a leaving condition of event E1 is considered to be satisfied in a case of satisfying the following inequality (1-2) . MbsE in inequality (1-1) and MbsL in inequality (1-2) denote certain measurement results associated with the serving cell (e.g., measurement results of beams in beam set #1) . In some embodiments, Hys#1 inequality (1-1) or inequality (1-2) may be optional. MbsE–Hys#1 > Th#1 (1-1) MbsL + Hys#1 < Th#1 (1-2)

[0082] In some embodiments, the number of beams (denoted as m1) in beam set #1 may be configured by the network (e.g., BS 202) or predefined (e.g., in 3GPP standard specifications) . For example, m1 may be predefined as "1" in a 3GPP standard specification. For example, beam set #1 may be the best m1 beams among all beams from the serving cell of UE 204.

[0083] For example, in some embodiments, UE 204 may determine the entering condition of event E1 being satisfied when inequality (1-1) is satisfied for each beam in beam set #1 (e.g., for the best m1 beams of the serving cell of UE 204) . That is, MbsE in inequality (1-1) may denote respective measurement results of beams in beam set #1. That is, when all best m1 beams satisfy inequality (1-12) , the entering condition of event E1 is considered to be satisfied. For example, in some embodiments, UE 204 may determine the entering condition of event E1 being satisfied when inequality (1-1) is satisfied based on an average measurement result of beam set #1. That is, MbsE in inequality (1-1) may denote an average value of measurement results of beams in beam set #1.

[0084] For example, in some embodiments, UE 204 may determine the entering condition of event E1 being satisfied when inequality (1-1) is satisfied based on an average measurement result of the best minimum (m1, m1') beams. For example, a threshold for beam filtering may be configured by the network (e.g., BS 202) or predefined (e.g., in 3GPP standard specifications) . UE 204 can determine m1'beams of the serving cell with a beam quality satisfying the threshold. In the context of the present disclosure, a beam quality or a beam satisfying a threshold means that the value of the beam quality is greater than or equal to the threshold. Denoting M1= minimum (m1, m1') , MbsE in inequality (1-1) may denote an average value of measurement results of the best M1 beams of the serving cell of UE 204. Alternatively, MbsE in inequality (1-1) may denote an average value of measurement results of the best M1 beams in beam set #1.

[0085] For example, in some embodiments, UE 204 may determine the leaving condition of event E1 being satisfied when inequality (1-2) is satisfied for the best beam of the serving cell of UE 204. That is, MbsL in inequality (1-2) may denote the  measurement result of the best beam of the serving cell of UE 204. For example, in some embodiments, UE 204 may determine the leaving condition of event E1 being satisfied when inequality (1-2) is satisfied for the m1th beam (e.g., in a descending order of beam quality) in beam set #1. That is, MbsL in inequality (1-2) may denote the measurement result of the weakest beam in beam set #1. For example, in some embodiments, UE 204 may determine the leaving condition of event E1 being satisfied when inequality (1-2) is satisfied for any beam in beam set #1. That is, MbsL in inequality (1-2) may denote the measurement result of any beam in beam set #1. In other word, as long as one beam in beam set #1 satisfies inequality (1-2) , the leaving condition of event E1 is considered to be satisfied. For example, in some embodiments, UE 204 may determine the leaving condition of event E1 being satisfied when inequality (1-2) is satisfied based on an average measurement result of beam set #1. That is, MbsL in inequality (1-2) may denote an average value of measurement results of the m1 beams in beam set #1.

[0086] For example, in some embodiments, UE 204 may determine the leaving condition of event E1 being satisfied when inequality (1-2) is satisfied based on an average measurement result of the best minimum (m1, m1” ) beams. For example, a threshold for beam filtering may be configured by the network (e.g., BS 202) or predefined (e.g., in 3GPP standard specifications) . UE 204 can determine m1” beams of the serving cell with a beam quality satisfying the threshold. Denoting M1'=minimum (m1, m1” ) , MbsL in inequality (1-2) may denote an average value of measurement results of the best M1' beams of the serving cell of UE 204. Alternatively, MbsL in inequality (1-2) may denote an average value of measurement results of the best M1'beams in beam set #1.

[0087] In some embodiments, an entering condition of event E2 is considered to be satisfied in a case of satisfying the following inequality (2-1) ; and a leaving condition of event E2 is considered to be satisfied in a case of satisfying the following inequality (2-2) . MbsE in inequality (2-1) and MbsL in inequality (2-2) denote certain measurement results associated with the serving cell (e.g., measurement results of beams in beam set #2) . In some embodiments, Hys#2 inequality (2-1) or inequality (2-2) may be optional. MbsE + Hys#2 < Th#2 (2-1) MbsL-Hys#2 > Th#2 (2-2)

[0088] In some embodiments, the number of beams (denoted as m2) in beam set #2 may be configured by the network (e.g., BS 202) or predefined (e.g., in 3GPP standard specifications) . For example, m2 may be predefined as "1" in a 3GPP standard specification. For example, beam set #2 may be the best m2 beams among all beams from the serving cell of UE 204.

[0089] For example, in some embodiments, UE 204 may determine the entering condition of event E2 being satisfied when inequality (2-1) is satisfied for the best beam of the serving cell of UE 204. That is, MbsE in inequality (2-1) may denote the measurement result of the best beam of the serving cell of UE 204. For example, in some embodiments, UE 204 may determine the entering condition of event E2 being satisfied when inequality (2-1) is satisfied for the m2th beam (e.g., in a descending order of beam quality) in beam set #2. That is, MbsE in inequality (2-1) may denote the measurement result of the weakest beam in beam set #2. For example, in some embodiments, UE 204 may determine the entering condition of event E2 being satisfied when inequality (2-1) is satisfied for any beam in beam set #2. That is, MbsE in inequality (2-1) may denote the measurement result of any beam in beam set #2. In other word, as long as one beam in beam set #2 satisfies inequality (2-1) , the entering condition of event E2 is considered to be satisfied. For example, in some embodiments, UE 204 may determine the entering condition of event E2 being satisfied when inequality (2-1) is satisfied based on an average measurement result of beam set #2. That is, MbsE in inequality (2-1) may denote an average value of measurement results of the m2 beams in beam set #2.

[0090] For example, in some embodiments, UE 204 may determine the entering condition of event E2 being satisfied when inequality (2-1) is satisfied based on an average measurement result of the best minimum (m2, m2') beams. For example, a threshold for beam filtering may be configured by the network (e.g., BS 202) or predefined (e.g., in 3GPP standard specifications) . UE 204 can determine m2'beams of the serving cell with a beam quality satisfying the threshold. Denoting M2=minimum (m2, m2') , MbsE in inequality (2-1) may denote an average value of measurement results of the best M2 beams of the serving cell of UE 204. Alternatively, MbsE in inequality (2-1) may denote an average value of measurement results of the  best M2 beams in beam set #2.

[0091] For example, in some embodiments, UE 204 may determine the leaving condition of event E2 being satisfied when inequality (2-2) is satisfied for each beam in beam set #2 (e.g., for the best m2 beams of the serving cell of UE 204) . That is, MbsL in inequality (2-2) may denote respective measurement result of each beam in beam set #2. That is, when all best m2 beams satisfy inequality (2-2) , the leaving condition of event E2 is considered to be satisfied. For example, in some embodiments, UE 204 may determine the leaving condition of event E2 being satisfied when inequality (2-2) is satisfied based on an average measurement result of beam set #2. That is, MbsL in inequality (2-2) may denote an average value of measurement results of the m2 beams in beam set #2.

[0092] For example, in some embodiments, UE 204 may determine the leaving condition of event E2 being satisfied when inequality (2-2) is satisfied based on an average measurement result of the best minimum (m2, m2” ) beams. For example, a threshold for beam filtering may be configured by the network (e.g., BS 202) or predefined (e.g., in 3GPP standard specifications) . UE 204 can determine m2” beams of the serving cell with a beam quality satisfying the threshold. Denoting M2'=minimum (m2, m2” ) , MbsL in inequality (2-2) may denote an average value of measurement results of the best M2'beams of the serving cell of UE 204. Alternatively, MbsL in inequality (2-2) may denote an average value of measurement results of the best M2'beams in beam set #2.

[0093] In some embodiments, the measurement report may include one or more of:

[0094] (1) measurement results of at least one beam from the serving cell of UE 204; and (2) measurement results of at least one beam from the neighbor cell (s) of UE 204.

[0095] In some embodiments, the number of beams of the at least one beam from the serving cell may be configured by the network (e.g., BS 202) or predefined (e.g., in 3GPP standard specifications) . In some embodiments, a beam quality threshold may be configured by the network (e.g., BS 202) or predefined (e.g., in 3GPP standard specifications) . Only the beams of the serving cell with better quality than the threshold are included in the report. That is, the beam quality of each of the at least one beam from the serving cell is greater than or equal to the threshold.

[0096] In some embodiments, the at least one beam from the neighbor cell (s) may include a beam (s) from a candidate cell (s) such as LTM candidate cell. In the context of the present application, an LTM candidate cell refers to a candidate cell of a UE configured with LTM configuration. In some embodiments, only measurement results of the beams from LTM candidate cells are included in the measurement report as measurement results (2) . That is, each beam of the at least one beam from the neighbor cell (s) is a beam from an LTM candidate cell.

[0097] In some embodiments, the number of beams of the at least one beam from the neighbor cell (s) may be configured by the network (e.g., BS 202) or predefined (e.g., in 3GPP standard specifications) . In some embodiments, a beam quality threshold may be configured by the network (e.g., BS 202) or predefined (e.g., in 3GPP standard specifications) . Only the beams of a neighbor cell with better quality than the threshold are included in the report. That is, the beam quality of each of the at least one beam from the neighbor cell (s) is greater than or equal to the threshold.

[0098] In some embodiments, the maximum number of beams to be reported in a measurement report may be configured by the network (e.g., BS 202) or predefined (e.g., in 3GPP standard specifications) . The total number of beams from the serving cell and the neighbor cell (s) indicated in the measurement report is less than or equal to the maximum beam number.

[0099] In some embodiments, for a certain beam to be reported in a measurement report, the measurement report may indicate an ID of the beam (e.g., a synchronization signal block (SSB) index or channel state information reference signal (CSI-RS) index) and a measurement result of the beam such as layer-1 reference signal received power (L1-RSRP) or the like.

[0100] It should be appreciated by persons skilled in the art that the sequence of the operations in exemplary method 200 may be changed and some of the operations in exemplary method 200 may be eliminated or modified, without departing from the spirit and scope of the disclosure.

[0101] FIG. 3 illustrates a flow chart of exemplary method 300 for wireless communications in accordance with some embodiments of the present disclosure.  Details described in all of the foregoing embodiments of the present disclosure are applicable for the embodiments shown in FIG. 3. For example, UE 304 may function as UE 104 in FIG. 1 and BS 302 may function as NE 102 shown in FIG. 1.

[0102] Referring to FIG. 3, at 311, UE 304 may connect to (or access) BS 302. For example, UE 304 may access a cell of BS 302, which can be referred to as the "serving cell" of UE 304. In some examples, UE 304 may access a network via single connectivity (e.g., via MCG only) and BS 302 is associated with the MCG of UE 304. In some examples, UE 304 may access the network via multi-connectivity (e.g., via DC, that is, MCG and SCG) . For example, in addition to BS 302 which is associated with the MCG of UE 304, UE 304 may connect to another BS (denoted as BS #A2) which is associated with the SCG of UE 304. BS 302 and BS #A2 may also be referred to as an MN and an SN of UE 304, respectively.

[0103] In some embodiments, UE 304 may report the UE capability to the network (e.g., BS 302 or BS #A2) . For example, in response to receiving an inquiry from BS 302, UE 304 may report UE capability. In some examples, UE capability information may indicate one or more of the following: whether UE 304 supports Inter-CU LTM, Inter-CU MCG LTM or Inter-CU SCG LTM; whether UE 304 supports event-based L1 measurement report; and whether UE 304 supports a certain event (s) used to trigger L1 measurement report. For example, the UE capability information may indicate the ID(s) of the event (s) supported by UE 304.

[0104] At 313, BS 302 may transmit a reconfiguration message to UE 304. In some embodiments, the reconfiguration message may include configuration information associated with measurement report (e.g., event-based L1 measurement report) . For example, BS 302 may transmit a configuration for at least one event (or at least one condition) that is used to trigger measurement reporting to UE 304.

[0105] In some embodiments, the at least one event may include one or more of the following:

[0106] - beam-based event E3: at least one beam (denoted as beam set #3) of a neighbor cell (s) of UE 304 becomes an offset (denoted as offset #1) better than the current beam of the serving cell of UE 304;

[0107] - beam-based event E3a: a beam (s) (denoted as beam set #4) of a candidate cell (s) of UE 304 becomes an offset (denoted as offset #2) better than a beam (s) (denoted as beam set #5) of the serving cell of UE 304; and

[0108] - beam-based event E5: a beam (s) (denoted as beam set #7) of the serving cell of UE 304 becomes worse than a threshold (denoted as Th#4) and a beam (s) (denoted as beam set #8) of the candidate cell (s) of UE 304 becomes better than a threshold (denoted as Th#5) .

[0109] In some embodiments, the configuration may include one or more of the following information: a threshold or offset for an event (e.g., offset #1, offset #2, Th#4 or Th#5) ; a hysteresis value for an event (e.g., Hys#3 for event E3, Hys#3a for event E3a or Hys#5 for event E5) , a gap used to monitor frequency; a time duration used to determine whether an event is met within the duration (e.g., the same or separate time durations for different events) ; a measurement object specific offset of a reference signal of the neighbor cell or candidate cell of UE 304 (denoted as Ofn#1 for the neighbor cell and Ofn#2 for the candidate cell) ; a cell specific offset of the neighbor cell or candidate cell of UE 304 (denoted as Ocn#1 for the neighbor cell and Ocn#2 for the candidate cell) ; a measurement object specific offset of the serving cell of UE 304 (denoted as Ofp#1) ; and a cell specific offset of the serving cell of UE 304 (denoted as Ocp#1) . Ofn#1 and Ofn#2 may be different or the same. Ocn#1 and Ocn#2 may be different or the same.

[0110] In the context of the present disclosure, a reference signal of the neighbor cell or candidate cell can refer to an SSB, a CSI-RS, a demodulation reference signal (DMRS) or the like. In the context of the present disclosure, the serving cell may refer to a special cell (SpCell) in the case of DC. The SpCell may refer to the primary cell (PCell) of the MCG and the PSCell (PSCell) PSCell of the SCG. In some embodiments, Ofn#1 or Ofn#2 may be configured by "offsetMO" as defined within measObjectNR corresponding to the neighbor cell or candidate cell. In some embodiments, Ocn#1 or Ocn#2 may be configured by "cellIndividualOffset" as defined within measObjectNR corresponding to the neighbor cell or candidate cell. In some embodiments, Ocn#1 or Ocn#2 may be configured by "cellIndividualOffset" as defined within reportConfigNR. In some embodiments, Ocn#1 or Ocn#2 may be set to zero if it is not configured for the neighbor or candidate cell. In some embodiments, Ofp#1  may be configured by "offsetMO" as defined within measObjectNR corresponding to the SpCell. In some embodiments, Ocp#1 may be configured by "cellIndividualOffset" as defined within measObjectNR corresponding to the SpCell. In some embodiments, Ocp#1 may be set to zero if it is not configured for the SpCell. In some embodiments, Hys#3 may be configured by "hysteresis" as defined within reportConfigNR for event E3, Hys#3a may be configured by "hysteresis" as defined within reportConfigNR for event E3a and Hys#5 may be configured by "hysteresis" as defined within reportConfigNR for event E5.

[0111] In some embodiments, in response to receiving the configuration, UE 304 may perform measurements on a plurality of beams from a plurality of cells (e.g., the serving cell (s) , the neighbor cell (s) and the candidate cell (s) ) and evaluate the configured event (s) . For example, at 315, UE 304 may determine whether an event (e.g., at least one of event E3, event E3a or event E5) is satisfied or not based on the configuration and the measurements. At 317, UE 304 may transmit a measurement report to BS 302 in response to an event (e.g., at least one of event E3, event E3a or event E5) being satisfied.

[0112] In some embodiments, determining whether an event is satisfied or not may include determining whether the event is satisfied within a time duration. The time duration may be configured by BS 302 or may be predefined. For example, UE 304 may determine an event is satisfied or may determine an event is satisfied within a configured time duration, and then UE 304 may be triggered to report measurement results of beams to BS 302.

[0113] In some embodiments, UE 304 may determine whether an event is satisfied or not based on one or more of: determining whether an entering condition of the event is satisfied or not; and determining whether a leaving condition of the event is satisfied or not.

[0114] In some embodiments, measurement reporting may be triggered in response to the entering condition of the event being satisfied or the entering condition of the event being satisfied within a time duration. The time duration may be configured by BS 302 or may be predefined.

[0115] In some embodiments, measurement reporting may be triggered in response to the leaving condition of the event being satisfied or the leaving condition of the event being satisfied within a time duration. The time duration may be configured by BS 302 or may be predefined. In some embodiments, UE 304 may receive an indication which indicates the UE to trigger beam measurement reporting in response to the leaving condition being satisfied or the leaving condition being satisfied within time duration.

[0116] In some embodiments, an entering condition of event E3 is considered to be satisfied in a case of satisfying the following inequality (3-1) ; and a leaving condition of event E3 is considered to be satisfied in a case of satisfying the following inequality (3-2) . MbnE in inequality (3-1) and MbnL in inequality (3-2) denote certain measurement results associated with the neighbor cell (e.g., measurement results of beams in beam set #3) . Mbp in inequality (3-1) and inequality (3-2) denotes the measurement result of the current beam of the serving cell (e.g., SpCell) . In some embodiments, Ofn#1, Ocn#1, Hys#3, Ofp#1 and Ocp#1 in inequality (3-1) or inequality (3-2) may be optional.

[0117] MbnE + Ofn#1 + Ocn#1 –Hys#3 > Mbp + Ofp#1 + Ocp#1 + offset #1 (3-1) MbnL + Ofn#1 + Ocn#1+ Hys#3 < Mbp + Ofp#1 + Ocp#1 + offset #1 (3-2)

[0118] In some embodiments, the number of beams (denoted as m3) in beam set #3 may be configured by the network (e.g., BS 302) or predefined (e.g., in 3GPP standard specifications) . For example, m3 may be predefined as "1" in a 3GPP standard specification. For example, beam set #3 may be the best m3 beams among all beams from the neighbor cell (s) of UE 304.

[0119] For example, in some embodiments, UE 304 may determine the entering condition of event E3 being satisfied when inequality (3-1) is satisfied for each beam in beam set #3 (e.g., for the best m3 beams of the neighbor cell (s) of UE 304) . That is, MbnE in inequality (3-1) may denote respective measurement results of beams in beam set #3. For example, in some embodiments, UE 304 may determine the entering condition of event E3 being satisfied when inequality (3-1) is satisfied based on an average measurement result of beam set #3. That is, MbnE in inequality (3-1) may denote an average value of measurement results of beams in beam set #3.

[0120] For example, in some embodiments, UE 304 may determine the leaving condition of event E3 being satisfied when inequality (3-2) is satisfied for the m3th beam (e.g., in a descending order of beam quality) in beam set #3. That is, MbnL in inequality (3-2) may denote the measurement result of the weakest beam in beam set #3. For example, in some embodiments, UE 304 may determine the leaving condition of event E3 being satisfied when inequality (3-2) is satisfied for any beam in beam set #3. That is, MbnL in inequality (3-2) may denote the measurement result of any beam in beam set #3. In other word, as long as one beam in beam set #3 satisfies inequality (3-2) , the leaving condition of event E3 is considered to be satisfied. For example, in some embodiments, UE 304 may determine the leaving condition of event E3 being satisfied when inequality (3-2) is satisfied based on an average measurement result of beam set #3. That is, MbnL in inequality (3-2) may denote an average value of measurement results of the m3 beams in beam set #3.

[0121] In some embodiments, an entering condition of event E3a is considered to be satisfied in a case of satisfying the following inequality (3a-1) ; and a leaving condition of event E3a is considered to be satisfied in a case of satisfying the following inequality (3a-2) . MbnE in inequality (3a-1) and MbnL in inequality (3a-2) denote certain measurement results associated with the candidate cell (e.g., measurement results of beams in beam set #4) . MbpE in inequality (3a-1) and MbpL in inequality (3a-2) denote certain measurement results associated with the serving cell (e.g., measurement results of beams in beam set #5) . In some embodiments, Ofn#2, Ocn#2, Hys#3a, Ofp#1 and Ocp#1 in inequality (3a-1) or inequality (3a-2) may be optional. MbnE + Ofn#2 + Ocn#2 –Hys#3a > MbpE + Ofp#1 + Ocp#1 + offset #2 (3a-1) MbnL + Ofn#2 + Ocn#2 + Hys#3a < MbpL + Ofp#1 + Ocp#1 + offset #2 (3a-2)

[0122] In some embodiments, the number of beams (denoted as m3a) in each of beam set #4 and beam set #5 may be configured by the network (e.g., BS 302) or predefined (e.g., in 3GPP standard specifications) . For example, m3a may be predefined as "1" in a 3GPP standard specification. For example, beam set #4 may be the best m3a beams among all beams from the candidate cell (s) of UE 304. For example, beam set #5 may be the best m3a beams among all beams from the serving cell of UE 304. In some embodiments, the number of beams in beam set #4 may be configured or predefined differently from the number of beams in beam set #5.

[0123] For example, in some embodiments, UE 304 may determine the entering condition of event E3a being satisfied when inequality (3a-1) is satisfied for each beam in beam set #4. That is, MbnE in inequality (3a-1) may denote respective measurement results of beams in beam set #4 and MbpE in inequality (3a-1) may denote corresponding measurement results of beams in beam set #5. For example, when MbnE in inequality (3a-1) denotes the measurement result of the best beam in beam set #4, MbpE in inequality (3a-1) may denote the measurement result of the best beam in beam set #5 (scenario 1) ; when MbnE in inequality (3a-1) denotes the measurement result of the second best beam in beam set #4, MbpE in inequality (3a-1) may denote the measurement result of the second best beam in beam set #5 (scenario 2) ; …and when MbnE in inequality (3a-1) denotes the measurement result of the weakest beam in beam set #4, MbpE in inequality (3a-1) may denote the measurement result of the weakest beam in beam set #5 (scenario m3a) . When inequality (3a-1) is satisfied for each of scenario 1 to scenario m3a, the entering condition of event E3a is considered to be satisfied.

[0124] For example, in some embodiments, UE 304 may determine the entering condition of event E3a being satisfied when inequality (3a-1) is satisfied based on an average measurement result of beam set #4. That is, MbnE in inequality (3a-1) may denote an average value of measurement results of the m3a beams in beam set #4 and MbpE in inequality (3a-1) may denote an average value of measurement results of the m3a beams in beam set #5.

[0125] For example, in some embodiments, UE 304 may determine the entering condition of event E3a being satisfied when inequality (3a-1) is satisfied for each beam of the best minimum (m3a, m3a', m3a” ) beams in beam set #4. For example, a threshold for beam filtering may be configured by the network (e.g., BS 302) or predefined (e.g., in 3GPP standard specifications) . Only the beams with qualities satisfying the threshold can be selected for checking the entering or leaving condition. UE 304 can determine m3a'beams of the serving cell with a beam quality satisfying the threshold. UE 304 can determine m3a” beams of the candidate cell with a beam quality satisfying the threshold. Denoting M3a= minimum (m3a, m3a', m3a” ) , when inequality (3a-1) is satisfied for each beam of the best M3a beams in beam set #4 and the best M3a beams in beam set #5, the entering condition of event E3a is considered  to be satisfied. That is, MbnE in inequality (3a-1) may denote respective measurement results of the best M3a beams in beam set #4 and MbpE in inequality (3a-1) may denote corresponding measurement results of the best M3a beams in beam set #5. For example, when MbnE in inequality (3a-1) denotes the measurement result of the best beam in beam set #4, MbpE in inequality (3a-1) may denote the measurement result of the best beam in beam set #5 (scenario 1') ; when MbnE in inequality (3a-1) denotes the measurement result of the second best beam in beam set #4, MbpE in inequality (3a-1) may denote the measurement result of the second best beam in beam set #5 (scenario 2' ) ; … and when MbnE in inequality (3a-1) denotes the measurement result of the M3ath beam (in a descending order of beam quality) in beam set #4 and MbpE in inequality (3a-1) may denote the measurement result of the M3ath beam (in a descending order of beam quality) in beam set #5 (scenario M3a') . When inequality (3a-1) is satisfied for each of scenario 1'to scenario M3a', the entering condition of event E3a is considered to be satisfied.

[0126] For example, in some embodiments, UE 304 may determine the entering condition of event E3a being satisfied when inequality (3a-1) is satisfied based on an average measurement result of certain beams of the serving cell and the candidate cell. For example, a threshold for beam filtering may be configured by the network (e.g., BS 302) or predefined (e.g., in 3GPP standard specifications) . UE 304 can determine m3ap beams of the serving cell with a beam quality satisfying the threshold. UE 304 can determine m3an beams of the candidate cell with a beam quality satisfying the threshold. Denoting M3ap= minimum (m3a, m3ap) and M3an= minimum (m3a, m3an) , MbnE in inequality (3a-1) may denote an average value of measurement results of the best M3an beams of the candidate cell (s) of UE 304 and MbpE in inequality (3a-1) may denote an average value of measurement results of the best M3ap beams of the serving cell of UE 304. Alternatively, MbnE in inequality (3a-1) may denote an average value of measurement results of the best M3an beams in beam set #4 and MbpE in inequality (3a-1) may denote an average value of measurement results of the best M3ap beams in beam set #5. Alternatively, M3an or M3ap may be calculated based on minimum (m3a, m3ap, m3an) . For example, M3an = M3ap = minimum (m3a, m3ap, m3an) .

[0127] For example, in some embodiments, UE 304 may determine the leaving  condition of event E3a being satisfied when inequality (3a-2) is satisfied for one beam in beam set #4 (e.g., one of the best m3a beams of the candidate cell (s) of UE 204) . In other word, as long as one beam in beam set #4 satisfies inequality (3a-2) , the leaving condition of event E3a is considered to be satisfied. That is, MbnL in inequality (3a-2) may denote the measurement result of any beam in beam set #4 and MbpL in inequality (3a-2) may denote the measurement result of a corresponding beam in beam set #5. For example, if the weakest beam in beam set #4 and the weakest beam in beam set #5 satisfy inequality (3a-2) , the leaving condition of event E3a is determined to be satisfied. That is, MbnL in inequality (3a-2) may denote the measurement result of the weakest beam in beam set #4 and MbpL in inequality (3a-2) may denote the measurement result of the weakest beam in beam set #5.

[0128] For example, in some embodiments, UE 304 may determine the leaving condition of event E3a being satisfied when inequality (3a-2) is satisfied based on an average measurement result of beam set #4. That is, MbnL in inequality (3a-2) may denote an average value of measurement results of the m3a beams in beam set #4 and MbpL in inequality (3a-2) may denote an average value of measurement results of the m3a beams in beam set #5.

[0129] For example, in some embodiments, UE 304 may determine the leaving condition of event E3a being satisfied when inequality (3a-2) is satisfied for one beam of the best minimum (m3a, m3a-1', m3a-1” ) beams in beam set #4. For example, a threshold for beam filtering may be configured by the network (e.g., BS 302) or predefined (e.g., in 3GPP standard specifications) . Only the beams with qualities satisfying the threshold can be selected for checking the entering or leaving condition. UE 304 can determine m3a-1'beams of the serving cell with a beam quality satisfying the threshold. UE 304 can determine m3a-1” beams of the candidate cell with a beam quality satisfying the threshold. Denoting M3a-1= minimum (m3a, m3a-1', m3a-1” ) , when inequality (3a-2) is satisfied for any one beam of the best M3a-1 beams in beam set #4, the leaving condition of event E3a is considered to be satisfied. In other word, as long as one beam of the best M3a-1 beams in beam set #4 satisfies inequality (3a-2) , the leaving condition of event E3a is considered to be satisfied. That is, MbnL in inequality (3a-2) may denote the measurement result of any beam of the best M3a-1 beams in beam set #4 and MbpL in inequality (3a-2) may denote the measurement result  of a corresponding beam in beam set #5. For example, if the weakest beam of the best M3a-1 beams in beam set #4 and the weakest beam of the best M3a-1 beams in beam set #5 satisfy inequality (3a-2) , the leaving condition of event E3a is determined to be satisfied. That is, MbnL in inequality (3a-2) may denote the measurement result of the weakest beam of the best M3a-1 beams in beam set #4 and MbpL in inequality (3a-2) may denote the measurement result of the weakest beam of the best M3a-1 beams in beam set #5.

[0130] For example, in some embodiments, UE 304 may determine the leaving condition of event E3a being satisfied when inequality (3a-2) is satisfied based on an average measurement result of certain beams of the serving cell and the candidate cell. For example, a threshold for beam filtering may be configured by the network (e.g., BS 302) or predefined (e.g., in 3GPP standard specifications) . UE 304 can determine m3ap'beams of the serving cell with a beam quality satisfying the threshold. UE 304 can determine m3an'beams of the candidate cell with a beam quality satisfying the threshold. Denoting M3ap'= minimum (m3a, m3ap') and M3an'= minimum (m3a, m3an') , MbnL in inequality (3a-2) may denote an average value of measurement results of the best M3an'beams of the candidate cell (s) of UE 304 and MbpL in inequality (3a-2) may denote an average value of measurement results of the best M3ap'beams of the serving cell of UE 304. Alternatively, MbnL in inequality (3a-2) may denote an average value of measurement results of the best M3an'beams in beam set #4 and MbpL in inequality (3a-2) may denote an average value of measurement results of the best M3ap'beams in beam set #5. Alternatively, M3an'or M3ap'may be calculated based on minimum (m3a, m3ap', m3an') . For example, M3an'= M3ap'= minimum (m3a, m3ap', m3an') .

[0131] In some embodiments, an entering condition of event E5 is considered to be satisfied in a case of satisfying the following inequality (5-1) and inequality (5-2) . Hereinafter, inequality (5-1) may also be referred to as the first entering condition of event E5 and inequality (5-2) may also be referred to as the second entering condition of event E5. An entering condition of event E5 is considered to be satisfied when both the first and second entering conditions are satisfied.

[0132] MbpE in inequality (5-1) denotes certain measurement results associated with  the serving cell (e.g., measurement results of beams in beam set #7) . MbnE in inequality (5-2) denotes certain measurement results associated with the candidate cell (e.g., measurement results of beams in beam set #8) . In some embodiments, Hys#5, Ofn#2 or Ocn#2 in equality (5-1) or inequality (5-2) may be optional. MbpE + Hys#5 < Th#4 (5-1) MbnE + Ofn#2 + Ocn#2 -Hys#5 > Th#5 (5-2)

[0133] In some embodiments, a leaving condition of event E5 is considered to be satisfied in a case of satisfying the following inequality (5-3) or inequality (5-4) . Hereinafter, inequality (5-3) may also be referred to as the first leaving condition of event E5 and inequality (5-4) may also be referred to as the second leaving condition of event E5. A leaving condition of event E5 is considered to be satisfied when either the first or second leaving conditions is satisfied.

[0134] MbpL in inequality (5-3) denotes certain measurement results associated with the serving cell (e.g., measurement results of beams in beam set #7) . MbnL in inequality (5-4) denotes certain measurement results associated with the candidate cell (e.g., measurement results of beams in beam set #8) . In some embodiments, Hys#5, Ofn#2 or Ocn#2 in equality (5-3) or inequality (5-4) may be optional. MbpL -Hys#5 > Th#4 (5-3) MbnL + Ofn#2 + Ocn#2 + Hys#5 < Th#5 (5-4)

[0135] In some embodiments, the number of beams (denoted as m7) in beam set #7 may be configured by the network (e.g., BS 302) or predefined (e.g., in 3GPP standard specifications) . In some embodiments, the number of beams (denoted as m8) in beam set #8 may be configured by the network (e.g., BS 302) or predefined (e.g., in 3GPP standard specifications) . For example, m7 or m8 may be predefined as "1" in a 3GPP standard specification. For example, beam set #7 may be the best m7 beams among all beams from the serving cell of UE 304. For example, beam set #8 may be the best m8 beams among all beams from the candidate cell (s) of UE 304. m7 may be the same or different from m8.

[0136] For example, in some embodiments, UE 304 may determine the first entering condition of event E5 being satisfied when inequality (5-1) is satisfied for each beam  in beam set #7 (e.g., for the best m7 beams of the serving cell of UE 304) . That is, MbpE in inequality (5-1) may denote respective measurement result of each beam in beam set #7. That is, when all best m7 beams satisfy inequality (5-1) , the first entering condition of event E5 is considered to be satisfied. In some embodiments, UE 304 may determine the second entering condition of event E5 being satisfied when inequality (5-2) is satisfied for each beam in beam set #8 (e.g., for the best m8 beams of the candidate cell (s) of UE 304) . That is, MbnE in inequality (5-2) may denote respective measurement result of each beam in beam set #8. That is, when all best m8 beams satisfy inequality (5-2) , the second entering condition of event E5 is considered to be satisfied.

[0137] For example, in some embodiments, UE 304 may determine the first entering condition of event E5 being satisfied when inequality (5-1) is satisfied based on an average measurement result of beam set #7. That is, MbpE in inequality (5-1) may denote an average value of measurement results of the m7 beams in beam set #7. In some embodiments, UE 304 may determine the second entering condition of event E5 being satisfied when inequality (5-2) is satisfied based on an average measurement result of beam set #8. That is, MbnE in inequality (5-2) may denote an average value of measurement results of the m8 beams in beam set #8.

[0138] For example, in some embodiments, UE 304 may determine the first entering condition of event E5 being satisfied when inequality (5-1) is satisfied based on an average measurement result of the best minimum (m7, m7') beams. For example, a threshold for beam filtering may be configured by the network (e.g., BS 302) or predefined (e.g., in 3GPP standard specifications) . UE 304 can determine m7'beams of the serving cell with a beam quality satisfying the threshold. Denoting M7=minimum (m7, m7') , MbpE in inequality (5-1) may denote an average value of measurement results of the best M7 beams of the serving cell of UE 304. Alternatively, MbpE in inequality (5-1) may denote an average value of measurement results of the best M7 beams in beam set #7.

[0139] For example, in some embodiments, UE 304 may determine the second entering condition of event E5 being satisfied when inequality (5-2) is satisfied based on an average measurement result of the best minimum (m8, m8') beams. For  example, a threshold for beam filtering may be configured by the network (e.g., BS 302) or predefined (e.g., in 3GPP standard specifications) . UE 304 can determine m8'beams of the candidate cell (s) with a beam quality satisfying the threshold. Denoting M8= minimum (m8, m8') , MbnE in inequality (5-2) may denote an average value of measurement results of the best M8 beams of the candidate cell (s) of UE 304. Alternatively, MbnE in inequality (5-2) may denote an average value of measurement results of the best M8 beams in beam set #8.

[0140] For example, in some embodiments, UE 304 may determine the first leaving condition of event E5 being satisfied when inequality (5-3) is satisfied for the best beam in beam set #7 (e.g., for the best beam of the serving cell of UE 304) . That is, MbpL in inequality (5-3) may denote the measurement result of the best beam of the serving cell of UE 304. In some embodiments, UE 304 may determine the second leaving condition of event E5 being satisfied when inequality (5-4) is satisfied for the best beam in beam set #8 (e.g., for the best beam of the candidate cell (s) of UE 304) . That is, MbnL in inequality (5-4) may denote the measurement result of the best beam of the candidate cell (s) of UE 304.

[0141] For example, in some embodiments, UE 304 may determine the first leaving condition of event E5 being satisfied when inequality (5-3) is satisfied for the m7th beam (e.g., in a descending order of beam quality) in beam set #7. That is, MbpL in inequality (5-3) may denote the measurement result of the weakest beam in beam set #7. In some embodiments, UE 304 may determine the second leaving condition of event E5 being satisfied when inequality (5-4) is satisfied for the m8th beam (e.g., in a descending order of beam quality) in beam set #8. That is, MbnL in inequality (5-4) may denote the measurement result of the weakest beam in beam set #8.

[0142] For example, in some embodiments, UE 304 may determine the first leaving condition of event E5 being satisfied when inequality (5-3) is satisfied for any beam in beam set #7. That is, MbpL in inequality (5-3) may denote the measurement result of any beam in beam set #7. In other word, as long as one beam in beam set #7 satisfies inequality (5-3) , the first leaving condition of event E5 is considered to be satisfied. For example, in some embodiments, UE 304 may determine the second leaving condition of event E5 being satisfied when inequality (5-4) is satisfied for any beam in  beam set #8. That is, MbnL in inequality (5-4) may denote the measurement result of any beam in beam set #8. In other word, as long as one beam in beam set #8 satisfies inequality (5-4) , the second leaving condition of event E5 is considered to be satisfied.

[0143] For example, in some embodiments, UE 304 may determine the first leaving condition of event E5 being satisfied when inequality (5-3) is satisfied based on an average measurement result of beam set #7. That is, MbpL in inequality (5-3) may denote an average value of measurement results of the m7 beams in beam set #7. In some embodiments, UE 304 may determine the second leaving condition of event E5 being satisfied when inequality (5-4) is satisfied based on an average measurement result of beam set #8. That is, MbnL in inequality (5-4) may denote an average value of measurement results of the m8 beams in beam set #8.

[0144] For example, in some embodiments, UE 304 may determine the first leaving condition of event E5 being satisfied when inequality (5-3) is satisfied based on an average measurement result of the best minimum (m7, m7p) beams. For example, a threshold for beam filtering may be configured by the network (e.g., BS 302) or predefined (e.g., in 3GPP standard specifications) . UE 304 can determine m7p beams of the serving cell with a beam quality satisfying the threshold. Denoting M7p=minimum (m7, m7p) , MbpL in inequality (5-3) may denote an average value of measurement results of the best M7p beams of the serving cell of UE 304. Alternatively, MbpL in inequality (5-3) may denote an average value of measurement results of the best M7p beams in beam set #7.

[0145] In some embodiments, UE 304 may determine the second leaving condition of event E5 being satisfied when inequality (5-4) is satisfied based on an average measurement result of the best minimum (m8, m8p) beams. For example, a threshold for beam filtering may be configured by the network (e.g., BS 302) or predefined (e.g., in 3GPP standard specifications) . UE 304 can determine m8p beams of the serving cell with a beam quality satisfying the threshold. Denoting M8p= minimum (m8, m8p) , MbnL in inequality (5-4) may denote an average value of measurement results of the best M8p beams of the candidate cell (s) of UE 304. Alternatively, MbnL in inequality (5-4) may denote an average value of measurement results of the best M8p beams in beam set #8.

[0146] In some embodiments, the measurement report may include one or more of: (1a) measurement results of at least one beam from the serving cell of UE 304; and (2a) measurement results of at least one beam from the neighbor cell (s) (denoted as neighbor cell set #A) of UE 304.

[0147] In some embodiments, the number of beams of the at least one beam from the serving cell may be configured by the network (e.g., BS 302) or predefined (e.g., in 3GPP standard specifications) . In some embodiments, a beam quality threshold may be configured by the network (e.g., BS 302) or predefined (e.g., in 3GPP standard specifications) . Only the beams of the serving cell with better quality than the threshold are included in the report. That is, the beam quality of each of the at least one beam from the serving cell is greater than or equal to the threshold.

[0148] In some embodiments, the at least one beam from neighbor cell set #A may include a beam (s) from a candidate cell (s) such as LTM candidate cell. In some embodiments, only measurement results of the beams from LTM candidate cells are included in the measurement report as measurement results (2a) . That is, each beam of the at least one beam from neighbor cell set #A is a beam from an LTM candidate cell. In other words, each cell in neighbor cell set #A is an LTM candidate cell.

[0149] In some embodiments, the number of beams of the at least one beam from neighbor cell set #A may be configured by the network (e.g., BS 302) or predefined (e.g., in 3GPP standard specifications) . In some embodiments, a beam quality threshold may be configured by the network (e.g., BS 302) or predefined (e.g., in 3GPP standard specifications) . Only the beams of a neighbor cell with better quality than the threshold are included in the report. That is, the beam quality of each of the at least one beam from neighbor cell set #A is greater than or equal to the threshold.

[0150] In some embodiments, the maximum number of beams to be reported in a measurement report may be configured by the network (e.g., BS 302) or predefined (e.g., in 3GPP standard specifications) . The total number of beams from the serving cell and neighbor cell set #A indicated in the measurement report is less than or equal to the maximum beam number.

[0151] In some embodiments, only beams of a neighbor or candidate cell which  trigger the event can be indicated in the measurement report as measurement results (2a) . For example, each of the at least one beam from neighbor cell set #A is from beam set #3, beam set #4 or beam set #8. For example, UE 304 may determine that event E3 is satisfied because inequality (3-1) is satisfied for each beam in beam set #3. UE 304 may transmit a measure report including measurement results of one or more beams from beam set #3.

[0152] In some embodiments, only the beams from a cell having at least one beam which triggers the event for measurement reporting can be indicated in the measurement report as measurement results (2a) . For example, each cell in neighbor cell set #A is a cell with at least one beam included in beam set #3, beam set #4 or beam set #8. In these embodiments, some beams from a cell in neighbor cell set #A may not trigger an event for measurement reporting. For example, UE 304 may determine that event E3 is satisfied because inequality (3-1) is satisfied for each beam in beam set #3. Beam set #3 may include beam #A1 and beam #A2 from neighbor cell #A. UE 304 may transmit a measure report including measurement results of beam #A1, beam #A2 and beam #A3 from neighbor cell #A.

[0153] In some embodiments, a beam quality threshold may be configured by the network (e.g., BS 302) or predefined (e.g., in 3GPP standard specifications) . Only the beams of a neighbor cell with better quality than the threshold are included in the report. That is, the beam quality of each of the at least one beam from neighbor cell set #A is greater than or equal to the threshold. For example, the beam qualities of beam #A1, beam #A2 and beam #A3 are greater than the threshold.

[0154] In some embodiments, for a certain beam to be reported in a measurement report, the measurement report may indicate an ID of the beam (e.g., SSB index or CSI-RS index) and a measurement result of the beam such as L1-RSRP or the like.

[0155] It should be appreciated by persons skilled in the art that the sequence of the operations in exemplary method 300 may be changed and some of the operations in exemplary method 300 may be eliminated or modified, without departing from the spirit and scope of the disclosure.

[0156] FIG. 4 illustrates a flow chart of exemplary method 400 for wireless  communications in accordance with some embodiments of the present disclosure. Details described in all of the foregoing embodiments of the present disclosure are applicable for the embodiments shown in FIG. 4. For example, UE 404 may function as UE 104 in FIG. 1 and BS 402 may function as NE 102 shown in FIG. 1.

[0157] Referring to FIG. 4, at 411, UE 404 may connect to (or access) BS 402. For example, UE 404 may access a cell of BS 402, which can be referred to as the "serving cell" of UE 404. In some examples, UE 404 may access a network via single connectivity (e.g., via MCG only) and BS 402 is associated with the MCG of UE 404. In some examples, UE 404 may access the network via multi-connectivity (e.g., via DC, that is, MCG and SCG) . For example, in addition to BS 402 which is associated with the MCG of UE 404, UE 404 may connect to another BS (denoted as BS #A3) which is associated with the SCG of UE 404. BS 402 and BS #A3 may also be referred to as an MN and an SN of UE 404, respectively.

[0158] In some embodiments, UE 404 may report the UE capability to the network (e.g., BS 402 or BS #A3) . For example, in response to receiving an inquiry from BS 402, UE 404 may report UE capability. In some examples, UE capability information may indicate one or more of the following: whether UE 404 supports Inter-CU LTM, Inter-CU MCG LTM or Inter-CU SCG LTM; whether UE 404 supports event-based L1 measurement report; and whether UE 404 supports a certain event (s) used to trigger L1 measurement report. For example, the UE capability information may indicate the ID (s) of the event (s) supported by UE 404.

[0159] At 413, BS 402 may transmit a reconfiguration message to UE 404. In some embodiments, the reconfiguration message may include configuration information associated with measurement report (e.g., event-based L1 measurement report) . For example, BS 402 may transmit a configuration for at least one event (or at least one condition) that is used to trigger measurement reporting to UE 404.

[0160] In some embodiments, the at least one event may include the following event:

[0161] - beam-based event E4: a beam (s) (denoted as beam set #6) of the candidate cell (s) of UE 404 becomes better than a threshold (denoted as Th#3) .

[0162] In some embodiments, the configuration may include one or more of the following information: a threshold for an event (e.g., Th#3) ; a hysteresis value for an event (e.g., Hys#4 for event E4) , a gap used to monitor frequency; a time duration used to determine whether an event is met within the duration (e.g., the same or separate time durations for different events) ; a measurement object specific offset of a reference signal of the neighbor or candidate cell of UE 404 (denoted as Ofn#3) ; and a cell specific offset of the neighbor or candidate cell of UE 404 (denoted as Ocn#3) .

[0163] In some embodiments, Ofn#3 may be configured by "offsetMO" as defined within measObjectNR corresponding to the neighbor or candidate cell. In some embodiments, Ocn#3 may be configured by "cellIndividualOffset" as defined within measObjectNR corresponding to the neighbor or candidate cell or by "cellIndividualOffset" as defined within reportConfigNR. In some embodiments, Ocn#3 may be set to zero if it is not configured for the neighbor or candidate cell. In some embodiments, Hys#4 may be configured by "hysteresis" as defined within reportConfigNR for event E4.

[0164] In some embodiments, in response to receiving the configuration, UE 404 may perform measurements on a plurality of beams from a plurality of cells (e.g., the serving cell (s) , the neighbor cell (s) and the candidate cell (s) ) and evaluate the configured event (s) . For example, at 415, UE 404 may determine whether an event (e.g., event E4) is satisfied or not based on the configuration and the measurements. At 417, UE 404 may transmit a measurement report to BS 402 in response to an event (e.g., event E4) being satisfied.

[0165] In some embodiments, determining whether an event is satisfied or not may include determining whether the event is satisfied within a time duration. The time duration may be configured by BS 402 or may be predefined. For example, UE 404 may determine an event is satisfied or may determine an event is satisfied within a configured time duration, and then UE 404 may be triggered to report measurement results of beams to BS 402.

[0166] In some embodiments, UE 404 may determine whether an event is satisfied or not based on one or more of: determining whether an entering condition of the event is satisfied or not; and determining whether a leaving condition of the event is satisfied or  not.

[0167] In some embodiments, measurement reporting may be triggered in response to the entering condition of the event being satisfied or the entering condition of the event being satisfied within a time duration. The time duration may be configured by BS 402 or may be predefined.

[0168] In some embodiments, measurement reporting may be triggered in response to the leaving condition of the event being satisfied or the leaving condition of the event being satisfied within a time duration. The time duration may be configured by BS 402 or may be predefined. In some embodiments, UE 404 may receive an indication which indicates the UE to trigger beam measurement reporting in response to the leaving condition being satisfied or the leaving condition being satisfied within time duration.

[0169] In some embodiments, an entering condition of event E4 is considered to be satisfied in a case of satisfying the following inequality (4-1) . In some embodiments, a leaving condition of event E4 is considered to be satisfied in a case of satisfying the following inequality (4-2) . MbnE in inequality (4-1) denotes certain measurement results associated with the candidate cell (e.g., measurement results of beams in beam set #6) . MbnL in inequality (4-2) denotes certain measurement results associated with the candidate cell (e.g., measurement results of beams in beam set #6) . In some embodiments, Hys#4, Ofn#3 or Ocn#3 in equality (4-1) or inequality (4-2) may be optional. MbnE + Ofn#3 + Ocn#3 -Hys#4 > Th#3 (4-1) MbnL + Ofn#3 + Ocn#3 + Hys#4 < Th#3 (4-2)

[0170] In some embodiments, the number of beams (denoted as m6) in beam set #6 may be configured by the network (e.g., BS 402) or predefined (e.g., in 3GPP standard specifications) . For example, m6 may be predefined as "1" in a 3GPP standard specification. For example, beam set #6 may be the best m6 beams among all beams from the candidate cell (s) of UE 404.

[0171] For example, in some embodiments, UE 404 may determine the entering condition of event E4 being satisfied when inequality (4-1) is satisfied for each beam  in beam set #6 (e.g., for the best m6 beams of the candidate cell (s) of UE 404) . That is, MbnE in inequality (4-1) may denote respective measurement result of each beam in beam set #6. That is, when all best m6 beams satisfy inequality (4-1) , the entering condition of event E4 is considered to be satisfied.

[0172] For example, in some embodiments, UE 404 may determine the entering condition of event E4 being satisfied when inequality (4-1) is satisfied based on an average measurement result of beam set #6. That is, MbnE in inequality (4-1) may denote an average value of measurement results of the m6 beams in beam set #6.

[0173] For example, in some embodiments, UE 404 may determine the entering condition of event E4 being satisfied when inequality (4-1) is satisfied based on an average measurement result of the best minimum (m6, m6') beams. For example, a threshold for beam filtering may be configured by the network (e.g., BS 402) or predefined (e.g., in 3GPP standard specifications) . UE 404 can determine m6'beams of the candidate cell (s) with a beam quality satisfying the threshold. Denoting M6 =minimum (m6, m6') , MbnE in inequality (4-1) may denote an average value of measurement results of the best M6 beams of the candidate cell (s) of UE 404. Alternatively, MbnE in inequality (4-1) may denote an average value of measurement results of the best M6 beams in beam set #6.

[0174] For example, in some embodiments, UE 404 may determine the leaving condition of event E4 being satisfied when inequality (4-2) is satisfied for the best beam in beam set #6 (e.g., for the best beam of the candidate cell (s) of UE 404) . That is, MbnL in inequality (4-2) may denote the measurement result of the best beam of the candidate cell (s) of UE 404. In some embodiments, UE 404 may determine the leaving condition of event E4 being satisfied when inequality (4-2) is satisfied for the m6th beam (e.g., in a descending order of beam quality) in beam set #6. That is, MbnL in inequality (4-2) may denote the measurement result of the weakest beam in beam set #6. In some embodiments, UE 404 may determine the leaving condition of event E4 being satisfied when inequality (4-2) is satisfied for any beam in beam set #6. That is, MbnL in inequality (4-2) may denote the measurement result of any beam in beam set #6. In other word, as long as one beam in beam set #6 satisfies inequality (4-2) , the leaving condition of event E4 is considered to be satisfied. In some embodiments, UE  404 may determine the leaving condition of event E4 being satisfied when inequality (4-2) is satisfied based on an average measurement result of beam set #6. That is, MbnL in inequality (4-2) may denote an average value of measurement results of the m6 beams in beam set #6.

[0175] For example, in some embodiments, UE 404 may determine the leaving condition of event E4 being satisfied when inequality (4-2) is satisfied based on an average measurement result of the best minimum (m6, m6” ) beams. For example, a threshold for beam filtering may be configured by the network (e.g., BS 402) or predefined (e.g., in 3GPP standard specifications) . UE 404 can determine m6” beams of the candidate cell (s) with a beam quality satisfying the threshold. Denoting M6'=minimum (m6, m6” ) , MbnL in inequality (4-2) may denote an average value of measurement results of the best M6'beams of the candidate cell (s) of UE 404. Alternatively, MbnL in inequality (4-2) may denote an average value of measurement results of the best M6'beams in beam set #6.

[0176] In some embodiments, the measurement report may include one or more of: (1b) measurement results of at least one beam from the serving cell of UE 404; and (2b) measurement results of at least one beam from the neighbor cell (s) (denoted as neighbor cell set #B) of UE 404.

[0177] In some embodiments, the number of beams of the at least one beam from the serving cell may be configured by the network (e.g., BS 402) or predefined (e.g., in 3GPP standard specifications) . In some embodiments, a beam quality threshold may be configured by the network (e.g., BS 402) or predefined (e.g., in 3GPP standard specifications) . Only the beams of the serving cell with better quality than the threshold are included in the report. That is, the beam quality of each of the at least one beam from the serving cell is greater than or equal to the threshold.

[0178] In some embodiments, the at least one beam from neighbor cell set #B may include a beam (s) from a candidate cell (s) such as LTM candidate cell. In some embodiments, only measurement results of the beams from LTM candidate cells are included in the measurement report as measurement results (2b) . That is, each beam of the at least one beam from neighbor cell set #B is a beam from an LTM candidate cell. In other words, each cell in neighbor cell set #B is an LTM candidate cell.

[0179] In some embodiments, the number of beams of the at least one beam from neighbor cell set #B may be configured by the network (e.g., BS 402) or predefined (e.g., in 3GPP standard specifications) . In some embodiments, a beam quality threshold may be configured by the network (e.g., BS 402) or predefined (e.g., in 3GPP standard specifications) . Only the beams of a neighbor cell with better quality than the threshold are included in the report. That is, the beam quality of each of the at least one beam from neighbor cell set #B is greater than or equal to the threshold.

[0180] In some embodiments, the maximum number of beams to be reported in a measurement report may be configured by the network (e.g., BS 402) or predefined (e.g., in 3GPP standard specifications) . The total number of beams from the serving cell and neighbor cell set #B indicated in the measurement report is less than or equal to the maximum beam number.

[0181] In some embodiments, only beams of a neighbor or candidate cell which trigger the event can be indicated in the measurement report as measurement results (2b) . For example, each of the at least one beam from neighbor cell set #B is from beam set #6. For example, UE 404 may determine that event E4 is satisfied because inequality (4-1) is satisfied for each beam in beam set #6. UE 404 may transmit a measure report including measurement results of one or more beams from beam set #6.

[0182] In some embodiments, only the beams from a cell having at least one beam which triggers the event for measurement reporting can be indicated in the measurement report as measurement results (2b) . For example, each cell in neighbor cell set #B is a cell with at least one beam included in beam set #6. In these embodiments, some beams from a cell in neighbor cell set #B may not trigger an event for measurement reporting. For example, UE 404 may determine that event E4 is satisfied because inequality (4-1) is satisfied for each beam in beam set #6. Beam set #6 may include beam #B1 and beam #B2 from neighbor cell #B. UE 404 may transmit a measure report including measurement results of beam #B1, beam #B2 and beam #B3 from neighbor cell #B.

[0183] In some embodiments, a beam quality threshold may be configured by the network (e.g., BS 402) or predefined (e.g., in 3GPP standard specifications) . Only the beams of a neighbor cell with better quality than the threshold are included in the report.  That is, the beam quality of each of the at least one beam from neighbor cell set #B is greater than or equal to the threshold. For example, the beam qualities of beam#B1, beam #B2 and beam #B3 are greater than the threshold.

[0184] In some embodiments, for a certain beam to be reported in a measurement report, the measurement report may indicate an ID of the beam (e.g., SSB index or CSI-RS index) and a measurement result of the beam such as L1-RSRP or the like.

[0185] It should be appreciated by persons skilled in the art that the sequence of the operations in exemplary method 400 may be changed and some of the operations in exemplary method 400 may be eliminated or modified, without departing from the spirit and scope of the disclosure.

[0186] In some embodiments, the operator "<" or ">" in an inequality as described in the present disclosure can be replaced by "≤" or "≥. "

[0187] FIG. 5 illustrates a flowchart of method 500 for wireless communication in accordance with some embodiments of the present disclosure. Details described in all of the foregoing embodiments of the present disclosure are applicable for the embodiments shown in FIG. 5. In some examples, method 500 may be performed by a UE, for example, UE 104 in FIG. 1, UE 204 in FIG. 2, UE 304 in FIG. 3 and UE 404 in FIG. 4. In some embodiments, the UE may execute a set of instructions to control the functional elements of the UE to perform the described functions or operations. In some examples, a processor of a UE may cause the UE to perform method 500.

[0188] At 511, a UE may receive, from a BS, a configuration for one or more events for triggering measurement reporting. At 513, the UE may perform measurements on a plurality of beams from a plurality of cells. At 515, the UE may determine whether at least one of the one or more events is satisfied or not based on the configuration and the measurements. At 517, the UE may transmit a measurement report to the BS in response to the at least one event being satisfied.

[0189] In some embodiments, the one or more events include one or more of the following: a first event in which a first set of beams of a serving cell of the UE becomes better than a first threshold; a second event in which a second set of beams of the serving  cell of the UE becomes worse than a second threshold; a third event in which a third set of beams of a neighbor cell (s) of the UE are a first offset better than a current beam of the serving cell of the UE; a fourth event in which a fourth set of beams of a candidate cell (s) of the UE are a second offset better than a fifth set of beams of the serving cell of the UE; a fifth event in which a sixth set of beams of the candidate cell (s) of the UE becomes better than a third threshold; and a sixth event in which a seventh set of beams of the serving cell of the UE becomes worse than a fourth threshold and an eighth set of beams of the candidate cell (s) of the UE becomes better than a fifth threshold.

[0190] In some embodiments, the UE may transmit one or more following UE capability information: first information indicating whether the UE supports event-based L1 measurement report; and second information indicating whether the UE supports an event for triggering measurement reporting, wherein the second information includes an ID of the event.

[0191] In some embodiments, a number of beams is configured in each of the first, second, third, fourth, fifth, sixth, seventh and eighth sets of beams respectively by the BS.

[0192] In some embodiments, the UE may determine whether the at least one event is satisfied or not based on one of the following: determining whether an entering condition of the at least one event is satisfied or not; and determining whether a leaving condition of the at least one event is satisfied or not.

[0193] In some embodiments, the UE may determine that a leaving condition of the first event is satisfied when one of the following is less than the first threshold: a sum of a measurement result of a best beam of the serving cell of the UE and a first hysteresis value for the first event; a sum of a measurement result of a weakest beam in the first set of beams and the first hysteresis value; a sum of a measurement result of any beam in the first set of beams and the first hysteresis value; and a sum of an average value of measurement results of the first set of beams and the first hysteresis value.

[0194] In some embodiments, the UE may determine that an entering condition of the second event is satisfied when one of the following is less than the second threshold: a sum of a measurement result of a best beam of the serving cell of the UE and a second  hysteresis value for the second event; a sum of a measurement result of a weakest beam in the second set of beams and the second hysteresis value; and a sum of an average value of measurement results of the second set of beams and the second hysteresis value.

[0195] In some embodiments, the UE may determine that a leaving condition of the second event is satisfied when one of the following is greater than the second threshold: a difference between a measurement result of each beam of the second set of beams and the second hysteresis value; and a difference between the average value of the measurement results of the second set of beams and the second hysteresis value.

[0196] In some embodiments, the UE may determine that a leaving condition of the third event is satisfied when a first sum is less than a second sum, the second sum is based on a measurement result of the current beam of the serving cell of the UE, a measurement object specific offset of the serving cell of the UE, a cell specific offset of the serving cell of the UE and the first offset. The first sum is based on: one of a measurement result of a weakest beam in the third set of beams of the neighbor cell (s) , a measurement result of any beam in the third set of beams of the neighbor cell (s) , and an average value of measurement results of the third set of beams of the neighbor cell (s) ; a measurement object specific offset of a reference signal of the neighbor cell (s) ; a cell specific offset of the neighbor cell (s) ; and a third hysteresis value for the third event.

[0197] In some embodiments, a leaving condition of the fifth event is determined to be satisfied when a third sum is less than the third threshold and the third sum is based on: one of a measurement result of a best beam of the candidate cell (s) of the UE, a measurement result of a weakest beam in the sixth set of beams of the candidate cell (s) , a measurement result of any beam in the sixth set of beams of the candidate cell (s) , and an average value of measurement results of the sixth set of beams of the candidate cell (s) ; a measurement object specific offset of a reference signal of the candidate cell (s) ; a cell specific offset of the candidate cell (s) ; and a fifth hysteresis value for the fifth event.

[0198] In some embodiments, a leaving condition of the sixth event is determined to be satisfied when a first leaving condition of the sixth event or a second leaving condition of the sixth event is satisfied. The first leaving condition of the sixth event is satisfied when one of the following is greater than the fourth threshold: a difference  between a measurement result of a best beam of the serving cell of the UE and a sixth hysteresis value for the sixth event; a difference between a measurement result of a weakest beam in the seventh set of beams and the sixth hysteresis value; a difference between a measurement result of any beam in the seventh set of beams and the sixth hysteresis value; and a difference between an average value of measurement results of the seventh set of beams and the sixth hysteresis value. The second leaving condition of the sixth event is satisfied when a fourth sum is less than the fifth threshold and the fourth sum is based on: one of a measurement result of a best beam of the candidate cell (s) of the UE, a measurement result of a weakest beam in the eighth set of beams of the candidate cell (s) , a measurement result of any beam in the eighth set of beams of the candidate cell (s) , and an average value of measurement results of the eighth set of beams of the candidate cell (s) ; a measurement object specific offset of a reference signal of the candidate cell (s) ; a cell specific offset of the candidate cell (s) ; and the sixth hysteresis value.

[0199] In some embodiments, the measurement report includes measurement results of at least one beam from at least one neighbor cell of the UE.

[0200] In some embodiments, the at least one neighbor cell of the UE is a candidate cell of the UE configured with LTM configuration.

[0201] In some embodiments, a number of the at least one beam is configured by the BS. In some embodiments, a beam quality of each of the at least one beam is greater than a beam quality threshold.

[0202] In some embodiments, the at least one beam is from the third, fourth, sixth or eighth set of beams. In some embodiments, each of the at least one neighbor cell is a cell with at least one beam included in the third , fourth, sixth or eighth set of beams and wherein a beam quality of each of the at least one beam is greater than a beam quality threshold.

[0203] In some embodiments, each of the first, second, fifth and seventh sets of beams includes a number of beams with best qualities among all beams of the serving cell of the UE. In some embodiments, the third set of beams includes a number of beams with best qualities among all beams of the neighbor cell (s) of the UE. In some  embodiments, each of the fourth, sixth and eighth sets of beams includes a number of beams with best qualities among all beams of the candidate cell (s) of the UE.

[0204] In some embodiments, determining whether the at least one event is satisfied or not includes determining whether the at least one event is satisfied within a time duration, and wherein the time duration is configured by the BS.

[0205] It should be appreciated by persons skilled in the art that the sequence of the operations in exemplary method 500 may be changed and some of the operations in exemplary method 500 may be eliminated or modified, without departing from the spirit and scope of the disclosure.
