Description

Methods, devices, and systems for recommending customized artificial teeth

[0001] The present invention relates to a method, device and system for recommending an appropriate artificial tooth for an individual patient using image data obtained by scanning or photographing the face, dental contour and oral arch of a patient in need of selection of an artificial tooth for dental treatment.

[0002] Prosthodontic treatment using dentures can be performed on patients with complete or partial tooth loss. Dentures, artificial teeth, come in a variety of shapes and sizes. The choice of denture shape and size for a patient is determined by the dentist performing the treatment. Therefore, the quality of prosthodontic treatment is heavily dependent on the dentist's experience. To overcome this issue, conventional techniques exist for selecting the appropriate denture type and size using transparent rulers. However, these techniques also suffer from the limitation that the type and size of the denture are ultimately determined by the dentist's subjective judgment. Currently, no objective criteria exist for selecting the appropriate denture type and size for a patient. Therefore, there is a need in the art for a method that provides criteria for selecting the appropriate denture type and size for a patient.

[0003] The present invention aims to provide a technique for objectively selecting an artificial tooth optimized for a patient by using image data obtained by photographing or scanning the patient's face, oral cavity, and teeth.
