AI Technical Summary

Technical Problem

In wireless communication systems, multiple user equipment (UE) communicating with the same network node can consume excessive power, communication, network, and computing resources due to separate reference signal transmissions, duplicated overhead, and separate beam management operations.

Method used

A method where a UE transmits a capability report indicating support for multi-UE cooperation schemes and an indication of a preferred scheme, allowing the network node to select an efficient cooperation scheme for subsequent communications.

Benefits of technology

This approach improves spectral efficiency and reduces communication errors by allowing UEs to select and implement the most suitable multi-UE cooperation scheme based on their capabilities, thereby conserving resources and enhancing performance.

Abstract

Various aspects of the present disclosure generally relate to wireless communication. Some aspects more specifically relate to a user equipment (UE) that transmits an indication of a preferred multi-UE cooperation scheme. In some examples, the UE may transmit the indication of the preferred multi-UE cooperation scheme via UE assistance information (UAI). The indication of the preferred multi-UE cooperation scheme may indicate one or more parameters, such as one or more additional UEs with which the UE supports cooperation and / or a preferred scheme type (for example, single-frequency network (SFN), transmission switch, cooperative multiple-input multiple-output (MIMO), and / or multi-transmission reception point (TRP), among other examples).

MULTI-USER-EQUIPMENT COOPERATION SCHEMES

[0001] FIELD OF THE DISCLOSURE

[0002] Aspects of the present disclosure generally relate to wireless communication and specifically, to techniques and apparatuses for multi-user-equipment cooperation schemes.BACKGROUND

[0003] Wireless communication systems are widely deployed to provide various telecommunication services such as telephony, video, data, messaging, and broadcasts. Typical wireless communication systems may employ multiple-access technologies capable of supporting communication with multiple users by sharing available system resources (for example, bandwidth or transmit power) . Examples of such multiple-access technologies include code division multiple access (CDMA) systems, time division multiple access (TDMA) systems, frequency division multiple access (FDMA) systems, orthogonal frequency division multiple access (OFDMA) systems, single-carrier frequency division multiple access (SC-FDMA) systems, time division synchronous code division multiple access (TD-SCDMA) systems, and Long Term Evolution (LTE) . LTE / LTE-Advanced is a set of enhancements to the Universal Mobile Telecommunications System (UMTS) mobile standard promulgated by the Third Generation Partnership Project (3GPP) .

[0004] The above multiple access technologies have been adopted in various telecommunication standards to provide a common protocol that enables different UEs to communicate on a municipal, national, regional, or global level. New Radio (NR) , which may be referred to as 5G, is a set of enhancements to the LTE mobile standard promulgated by the 3GPP. NR is designed to better support mobile broadband internet access by improving spectral efficiency, lowering costs, improving services, making use of new spectrum, and better integrating with other open standards using orthogonal frequency division multiplexing (OFDM) with a cyclic prefix (CP) (CP-OFDM) on the downlink, using CP-OFDM or single-carrier frequency division multiplexing (SC-FDM) (also known as discrete Fourier transform spread OFDM (DFT-s-OFDM) ) on the uplink, as well as supporting beamforming, multiple-input multiple-output (MIMO) antenna technology, and carrier aggregation. As the demand for mobile broadband access  continues to increase, further improvements in LTE, NR, and other radio access technologies remain useful.

[0005] In some networks, a first user equipment (UE) and a second UE may communicate with a same network node. For example, the first UE may be a vehicular UE and the second UE may be a handheld UE that is associated with the first UE (for example, based on or otherwise associated with being located within a vehicle associated with the first UE) . The first UE and the second UE may separately communicate with the network node, which may consume power, communication, network, and / or computing resources in association with, for example, transmission and reception of separate reference signals, duplicated overhead, and / or separate beam management operations, among other examples.SUMMARY

[0025] Various aspects of the disclosure are described more fully hereinafter with reference to the accompanying drawings. This disclosure may, however, be embodied in many different forms and are not to be construed as limited to any specific structure or  function presented throughout this disclosure. Rather, these aspects are provided so that this disclosure will be thorough and complete, and will fully convey the scope of the disclosure to those skilled in the art. One skilled in the art may appreciate that the scope of the disclosure is intended to cover any aspect of the disclosure disclosed herein, whether implemented independently of or combined with any other aspect of the disclosure. For example, an apparatus may be implemented or a method may be practiced using any quantity of the aspects set forth herein. In addition, the scope of the disclosure is intended to cover such an apparatus or method which is practiced using other structure, functionality, or structure and functionality in addition to or other than the various aspects of the disclosure set forth herein. Any aspect of the disclosure disclosed herein may be embodied by one or more elements of a claim.

[0026] Several aspects of telecommunication systems will now be presented with reference to various apparatuses and techniques. These apparatuses and techniques will be described in the following detailed description and illustrated in the accompanying drawings by various blocks, modules, components, circuits, steps, processes, or algorithms (collectively referred to as “elements” ) . These elements may be implemented using hardware, software, or a combination of hardware and software. Whether such elements are implemented as hardware or software depends upon the particular application and design constraints imposed on the overall system.

[0027] In some networks, a first UE and a second UE may communicate with a same network node. For example, the first UE may be a vehicular UE and the second UE may be a handheld UE that is associated with the first UE (for example, based on or otherwise associated with being located within a vehicle associated with the first UE) . The first UE and the second UE may separately communicate with the network node, which may consume power, communication, network, and / or computing resources in association with, for example, transmission and reception of separate reference signals, duplicated overhead, and / or separate beam management operations, among other examples.

[0028] In some networks, the first UE and the second UE may coordinate for communications with the network node. In this way, the first UE and the second UE may perform one or more communication procedures that conserve power, communication, network, and / or computing resources in association with, for example, transmission and reception of a reduced number of reference signals, reduced overhead, and / or cooperative beam management operations, among other examples. For example, the first UE and the  second UE may communicate using a transmissions switch scheme or a single-frequency network (SFN) scheme.

[0029] In some networks, a network node may configure the first UE and the second UE with a multi-UE cooperation scheme in association with an indication of capabilities for multi-UE cooperation by the first UE and the second UE. However, the network node may select a multi-UE cooperation scheme that is less efficient than another candidate multi-UE cooperation scheme. In this way, the network node may lose some of the benefits of multi-UE cooperation scheme described herein.

[0030] Various aspects relate generally to multi-user-equipment (UE) cooperation schemes. Some aspects more specifically relate to a UE that transmits an indication of a preferred multi-UE cooperation scheme. In some examples, the UE may transmit the indication of the preferred multi-UE cooperation scheme via UE assistance information (UAI) . The indication of the preferred multi-UE cooperation scheme may indicate one or more parameters, such as one or more additional UEs with which the UE supports cooperation and / or a preferred scheme type (for example, SFN, transmission switch, cooperative multiple-input multiple-output (MIMO) , and / or multi-transmission reception point (TRP) , among other examples) .

[0031] In some aspects described herein, a UE may transmit an indication of a preferred multi-UE cooperation scheme. In some examples, the UE may transmit the indication of the preferred multi-UE cooperation scheme via UAI. The indication of the preferred multi-UE cooperation scheme may indicate one or more parameters, such as one or more additional UEs with which the UE supports cooperation and / or a preferred scheme type (for example, SFN, transmission switch, cooperative MIMO, and / or multiple transmission reception point (mTRP) , among other examples) .

[0032] In an SFN-based multi-UE cooperation scheme, the network node may configure the first UE and the second UE with common and / or overlapping UE capabilities (for example, a configuration to use a lowest number of maximum antenna ports supported by the first UE or the second UE, overlapping operating frequency bands, and / or a lowest maximum modulation and coding scheme (MCS) of the first UE and the second UE, among other examples) . The network node may configure the first UE and the second UE using an indication via a Cooperation-Config information element.

[0033] In an mTRP-based multi-UE cooperation scheme, the network node may configure the first UE and the second UE for mTRP physical uplink shared channel (PUSCH) transmissions with a sum of supported mTRP-PUSCH-RepetitionTypeA or  mTRP-PUSCH-TypeA-CB factors for non-codebook or codebook PUSCH transmission via, for example, the Cooperation-Configure information element. For example, the first UE and the second UE may communicate as though combined as an mTRP at one virtual UE (for example, the one virtual UE may include the first UE and the second UE) .

[0034] In some aspects, the UE may indicate the preferred multi-UE cooperation scheme and / or a capability information associated with multi-UE cooperation schemes, and the network node may configure UE behavior during and after use of a selected multi-UE cooperation scheme using signaling within UE capability information, a UE capability configuration message, UAI, and / or an radio resource control (RRC) reconfiguration message, among other examples.

[0035] The first UE or the second UE may be designated as an aggregator UE. The aggregator UE may be determined in association with UE coordination over a UE-UE interface. The UE-UE interface may include a sidelink interface, a WLAN interface, and / or a WPAN interface, among other examples. In some aspects, the aggregator UE may transmit (and the other UE may refrain from transmitting) an indication (for example, via a UAI message) to the network node of a preferred multi-UE cooperation scheme. In some aspects, the first UE and the second UE may select the preferred multi-UE cooperation scheme in association with UE coordination over the UE-UE interface before sending the indication.

[0036] In some aspects, a timer may indicate an amount of time allocated to the first UE and the second UE to coordinate selection of the preferred multi-UE cooperation scheme before transmission of the indication (for example, via a UAI message) . In some aspects, the timer may start when the aggregator UE decides to cooperate with one or more other UEs (for example, the non-aggregator UE) or receives one or more cooperation requests from the one or more other UEs via the UE-UE link.

[0037] In association with receiving the indication (for example, a UAI message) , the network node may accept or reject (for example, and select a different multi-UE cooperation scheme in association with the indication of the preferred multi-UE cooperation scheme) the preferred multi-UE cooperation scheme. The network node may transmit an indication to configure UE behavior and / or operations associated with the multi-UE cooperation scheme. For example, the network node may transmit the indication of the configuration via an RRCreconfig message using an information element (for example, a cooperation-config information element) while the first UE and the UE are operating in cooperation.

[0038] Particular aspects of the subject matter described in this disclosure can be implemented to realize one or more of the following potential advantages. In some examples, by transmitting the preferred multi-UE cooperation scheme to the network node, the described techniques can be used to improve performance of multi-UE cooperation schemes. For example, in association with the UE providing an indication of the preferred multi-UE cooperation scheme, the UE may select the multi-UE cooperation scheme that is suited for capabilities of the UE and / or additional UEs in the multi-UE cooperation scheme. In this way, the UE and the network node may improve spectral efficiency of an associated wireless network and / or reduce communication errors relative to a network in which the network node selects the multi-UE cooperation scheme without input of the preferred multi-UE cooperation scheme.

[0039] In association with transmitting the indication of the preferred multi-UE cooperation scheme via UAI, the UE may use an existing framework for indicating the preferred multi-UE cooperation scheme. In this way, the indication may have a reduced impact on a communication protocol relative to adding a new message or format.

[0040] In association with using overlapping capabilities for an SFD-based multi-UE cooperation scheme based at least in part on indicating a preference for SFD-based multi-UE cooperation scheme, the network node may select parameters for the SDF-based multi-UE cooperation scheme that each of the UEs can support without increasing an error rate or an increased latency.

[0041] In association with a sum of capabilities for an mTRP-based multi-UE cooperation scheme based at least in part on indicating a preference for mTRP-based multi-UE cooperation scheme, the network node may select parameters for the mTRP-based multi-UE cooperation scheme that utilize combined capabilities of each of the UEs in a way that improves spectral efficiency.

[0042] In association with the first UE and the second UE identifying an aggregator UE using UE coordination, the first UE and second UE may efficiently communicate with the network node to indicate the preferred multi-UE cooperation scheme (e.g., relative to each UE indicating preferences separately) . In association with using a time to allocate time for UE coordination, the first UE and second UE may have time to find each other, select the aggregator UE, and transmit a single communication with an indication of the preferred multi-UE cooperation scheme.

[0043] In association with the network node having an option to accept or reject the preferred multi-UE cooperation scheme, the network node may maintain control over  which multi-UE cooperation scheme is used. This may allow the network node to account for network conditions, channel conditions, or network node capabilities when selecting the multi-UE cooperation scheme.

[0044] Figure 1 is a diagram illustrating an example of a wireless network. The wireless network 100 may be or may include elements of a 5G (for example, NR) network or a 4G (for example, Long Term Evolution (LTE) ) network, among other examples. The wireless network 100 may include one or more network nodes 110 (shown as a network node (NN) 110a, a network node 110b, a network node 110c, and a network node 110d) , a user equipment (UE) 120 or multiple UEs 120 (shown as a UE 120a, a UE 120b, a UE 120c, a UE 120d, and a UE 120e) , or other network entities. A network node 110 is an entity that communicates with UEs 120. As shown, a network node 110 may include one or more network nodes. For example, a network node 110 may be an aggregated network node, meaning that the aggregated network node is configured to utilize a radio protocol stack that is physically or logically integrated within a single RAN node (for example, within a single device or unit) . As another example, a network node 110 may be a disaggregated network node (sometimes referred to as a disaggregated base station) , meaning that the network node 110 is configured to utilize a protocol stack that is physically or logically distributed among two or more nodes (such as one or more central units (CUs) , one or more distributed units (DUs) , or one or more radio units (RUs) ) .

[0045] In some examples, a network node 110 is or includes a network node that communicates with UEs 120 via a radio access link, such as a radio unit (RU) . In some examples, a network node 110 is or includes a network node that communicates with other network nodes 110 via a fronthaul link or a midhaul link, such as a distributed unit (DU) . In some examples, a network node 110 is or includes a network node that communicates with other network nodes 110 via a midhaul link or a core network via a backhaul link, such as a CU. In some examples, a network node 110 (such as an aggregated network node 110 or a disaggregated network node 110) may include multiple network nodes, such as one or more RUs, one or more CUs, or one or more DUs. A network node 110 may include, for example, an NR network node, an LTE network node, a Node B, an eNB (for example, in 4G) , a gNB (for example, in 5G) , an access point, or a transmission reception point (TRP) , a DU, an RU, a CU, a mobility element of a network, a core network node, a network element, a network equipment, and / or a RAN node. In some examples, the network nodes 110 may be interconnected to one another or to one or  more other network nodes 110 in the wireless network 100 through various types of fronthaul, midhaul, or backhaul interfaces, such as a direct physical connection, an air interface, or a virtual network, using any suitable transport network.

[0046] Each network node 110 may provide communication coverage for a particular geographic area. In the Third Generation Partnership Project (3GPP) , the term “cell” can refer to a coverage area of a network node 110 or a network node subsystem serving this coverage area, depending on the context in which the term is used.

[0047] A network node 110 may provide communication coverage for a macro cell, a pico cell, a femto cell, or another type of cell. A macro cell may cover a relatively large geographic area (for example, several kilometers in radius) and may allow unrestricted access by UEs 120 with service subscriptions. A pico cell may cover a relatively small geographic area and may allow unrestricted access by UEs 120 with service subscription. A femto cell may cover a relatively small geographic area (for example, a home) and may allow restricted access by UEs 120 having association with the femto cell (for example, UEs 120 in a closed subscriber group (CSG) ) . A network node 110 for a macro cell may be referred to as a macro network node. A network node 110 for a pico cell may be referred to as a pico network node. A network node 110 for a femto cell may be referred to as a femto network node or an in-home network node.

[0048] In some aspects, the terms “base station” or “network node” may refer to an aggregated base station, a disaggregated base station, an integrated access and backhaul (IAB) node, a relay node, or one or more components thereof. For example, in some aspects, “base station” or “network node” may refer to a CU, a DU, an RU, a Near-Real Time (Near-RT) RAN Intelligent Controller (RIC) , and / or a Non-Real Time (Non-RT) RIC. In some aspects, the terms “base station” or “network node” may refer to one device configured to perform one or more functions, such as those described herein in connection with the network node 110. In some aspects, the terms “base station” or “network node” may refer to a plurality of devices configured to perform the one or more functions. For example, in some distributed systems, each of a quantity of different devices (which may be located in the same geographic location or in different geographic locations) may be configured to perform at least a portion of a function, or to duplicate performance of at least a portion of the function, and the terms “base station” or “network node” may refer to any one or more of those different devices. In some aspects, the terms “base station” or “network node” may refer to one or more virtual base stations or one or more virtual base station functions. For example, in some aspects, two or more base  station functions may be instantiated on a single device. In some aspects, the terms “base station” or “network node” may refer to one of the base station functions and not another. In this way, a single device may include more than one base station.

[0049] A network controller 130 may couple to or communicate with a set of network nodes 110 and may provide coordination and control for these network nodes 110. The network controller 130 may communicate with the network nodes 110 via a backhaul communication link. The network nodes 110 may communicate with one another directly or indirectly via a wireless or wireline backhaul communication link. In some aspects, the network controller 130 may be a CU or a core network device, or the network controller 130 may include a CU or a core network device.

[0050] The wireless network 100 may include one or more relay stations. A relay station is an entity that can receive a transmission of data from an upstream station (for example, a network node 110 or a UE 120) and send a transmission of the data to a downstream station (for example, a UE 120 or a network node 110) . A relay station may be a UE 120 that can relay transmissions for other UEs 120. In the example shown in Figure 1, the network node 110d (for example, a relay network node) may communicate with the network node 110a (for example, a macro network node) and the UE 120d in order to facilitate communication between the network node 110a and the UE 120d. A network node 110 that relays communications may be referred to as a relay station, a relay network node, or a relay.

[0051] The UEs 120 may be dispersed throughout the wireless network 100, and each UE 120 may be stationary or mobile. A UE 120 may include, for example, an access terminal, a terminal, a mobile station, or a subscriber unit. A UE 120 may be a cellular phone (for example, a smart phone) , a personal digital assistant (PDA) , a wireless modem, a wireless communication device, a handheld device, a laptop computer, a cordless phone, a wireless local loop (WLL) station, a tablet, a camera, a gaming device, a netbook, a smartbook, an ultrabook, a medical device, a biometric device, a wearable device (for example, a smart watch, smart clothing, smart glasses (for example, an augmented reality (AR) , virtual reality (VR) , mixed reality, or extended reality (XR) headset) , a smart wristband, smart jewelry (for example, a smart ring or a smart bracelet) ) , an entertainment device (for example, a music device, a video device, or a satellite radio) , a vehicular component or sensor, a smart meter / sensor, industrial manufacturing equipment, a global positioning system device, a UE function of a network node, or any other suitable device that is configured to communicate via a wireless  medium. Some UEs 120 (for example, UEs 102a and 120e) may communicate directly using one or more sidelink channels (for example, without a network node as an intermediary to communicate with one another) .

[0066] In some aspects, the network node includes means for receiving a capability report that indicates support for one or more multi-user-equipment (UE) cooperation schemes; means for receiving, in accordance with receiving the capability report, an indication of a preferred multi-UE cooperation scheme, from the one or more multi-UE cooperation schemes; and / or means for transmitting an indication of a selected multi-UE cooperation scheme to use for one or more subsequent communications. The means for the network node to perform operations described herein may include, for example, one or more of communication manager 150, transmit processor 220, TX MIMO processor 230, modem 232, antenna 234, MIMO detector 236, receive processor 238, controller / processor 240, memory 242, or scheduler 246.

[0067] Figure 3 is a diagram illustrating examples 300 and 350 of multi-UE cooperation schemes that may be used by coordinated UEs. As shown in Figure 3, a first  UE 305 and a second UE 310 may coordinate communications with a network node 3. In some examples, the first UE 305 may be a vehicular UE and the second UE 310 may be a handheld UE in proximity to the first UE 305.

[0068] Example 300 may be an example of a transmission switch multi-UE cooperation scheme. In a transmission switch multi-UE cooperation scheme, a UE may transmit communications for another UE. As shown by reference number 320, the first UE 305 and the second UE 310 may communicate using a UE-UE link. In some aspects, the UE-UE link may include a sidelink wireless link, a wireless local area network (WLAN) link, or a wireless personal area network (WPAN) link, among other examples.

[0069] In some examples, the second UE 310 may provide information to the first UE 305 for transmission to the network node 315. In some examples, the first UE 305 may receive communications from the network node 315 and forward the communications to the second UE. Additionally or alternatively, the second UE 310 may receive the communications directly from the network node 315. As shown by reference number 325, the first UE 305 may transmit to the network node using a Uu uplink.

[0070] Example 350 may be an example of an SFN multi-UE cooperation scheme. In an SFN multi-UE cooperation scheme, coordinated UEs may both transmit uplink communications to a network node using a shared frequency allocation. As shown by reference number 355, the first UE 305 and the second UE 310 may communicate using a UE-UE link. In some aspects, the UE-UE link may include a sidelink wireless link, a wireless local area network (WLAN) link, or a wireless personal area network (WPAN) link, among other examples.

[0071] In some examples, the first UE 305 and the second UE 310 coordinate a same transmission that both UEs will transmit using a shared frequency allocation. In some examples, the first UE 305 may transmit on a first portion of the shared frequency allocation and the second UE 310 may transmit on a second portion of the shared frequency allocation. As shown by reference number reference number 360, the first UE 305 and the second UE 310 may transmit using an SFN Uu uplink.

[0072] The network node 315 may receive a communication via the SFN Uu uplink and may decode the communication as a single communication. In some examples, the network node 315 may use a combined channel between the first UE 305 and the network node 315 and between the second UE 310 and the network node 315.

[0073] In some networks, a first UE and a second UE may communicate with a same network node.

[0074] In some aspects, the first UE and the second UE may coordinate for communications with the network node. In this way, the first UE and the second UE may perform one or more communication procedures that conserve power, communication, network, and / or computing resources in association with, for example, transmission and reception of a reduced number of reference signals, reduced overhead, and / or cooperative beam management operations, among other examples. For example, the first UE and the second UE may communicate using a transmissions switch scheme or an SFN scheme.

[0075] In some networks, a network node may configure the first UE and the second UE with a multi-UE cooperation scheme in association with an indication of capabilities for multi-UE cooperation by the first UE and the second UE. However, the network node may select a multi-UE cooperation scheme that is less efficient than another candidate multi-UE cooperation scheme. In this way, the network node may lose some of the benefits of multi-UE cooperation scheme described herein.

[0076] In some aspects described herein, a UE may transmit an indication of a preferred multi-UE cooperation scheme.

[0077] In some aspects, the UE may indicate the preferred multi-UE cooperation scheme and / or a capability information associated with multi-UE cooperation schemes, and the network node may configure UE behavior during and after use of a selected multi-UE cooperation scheme using signaling within UE capability information, a UE capability configuration message, UAI, and / or an RRC reconfiguration message, among other examples.

[0078] By providing an indication of a preferred multi-UE cooperation scheme, the network node may improve efficiency gains of using multi-UE cooperation schemes,  improve scheduling assignments and / or behaviors for efficiencies (for example, in association with reference signal measurements and reporting and / or sounding reference signal (SRS) transmissions, among other examples) , and / or improve power saving gains when using a multi-UE cooperation scheme, among other examples.

[0079] In some aspects, the first UE and the second UE may be in an RRC_Connected state. Each of the first UE and the second UE may receive a UE capability enquiry message about support of multi-UE cooperation schemes. The first UE and / or the second UE may transmit an indication of preferred multi-UE cooperation schemes associated with one or more UEs (for example, the other of the second UE or the first UE) in a UE capability information message.

[0080] The first UE or the second UE may be designated as an aggregator UE.

[0081] In some aspects, a timer (for example, a CooperationPreferenceIndProhibitTimer) may indicate an amount of time allocated to the first UE and the second UE to coordinate selection of the preferred multi-UE cooperation scheme before transmission of the indication (for example, via a UAI message) . In some aspects, the timer may start when the aggregator UE decides to cooperate with one or more other UEs (for example, the non-aggregator UE) or receives one or more cooperation requests from the one or more other UEs via the UE-UE link.

[0082] In association with receiving the indication (for example, a UAI message) , the network node may accept or reject (for example, and select a different multi-UE cooperation scheme in association with the indication of the preferred multi-UE cooperation scheme) the preferred multi-UE cooperation scheme.

[0083] In an SFN-based multi-UE cooperation scheme, the network node may configure the first UE and the second UE with common and / or overlapping UE capabilities (for example, a configuration to use a lowest number of maximum antenna ports supported by the first UE or the second UE, overlapping operating frequency bands, and / or a lowest maximum modulation and coding scheme (MCS) of the first UE and the second UE, among other examples) . The network node may configure the first UE and the second UE using an indication via a Cooperation-Config information element.

[0084] In an mTRP-based multi-UE cooperation scheme, the network node may configure the first UE and the second UE for mTRP physical uplink shared channel (PUSCH) transmissions with a sum of supported mTRP-PUSCH-RepetitionTypeA or mTRP-PUSCH-TypeA-CB factors for non-codebook or codebook PUSCH transmission via, for example, the Cooperation-Configure information element –as if communicating using mTRP at one virtual UE (for example, the one virtual UE may include the first UE and the second UE) .

[0085] Once UEs decide to end the cooperation via the multi-UE cooperation scheme, which may be coordinated via the UE-UE interface, the aggregator UE may transmit an indication (for example, via a UAI message) to the network node. In some aspects, the indication may include omitting a CooperationAssistance information element (for example, in UAI) , to implicitly inform the network node about the decision to end the cooperation.

[0086] In some aspects, an information element of a UE-NR capability indication may include a cooperationScheme and / or Cooperation-PreferenceInd. In some aspects, the cooperationScheme and / or Cooperation-PreferenceInd may be used to indicate supported cooperation schemes by the UE and whether the UE supports indication of a preference of the multi-UE cooperation scheme via a UAI message, respectively.

[0087] In some aspects, an information element of OtherConfig may include a CooperationSchemeConfig and a CooperationPreferenceIndConFigure In some aspects, the CooperationPreferenceIndConfig may include an indication of a T346k timer to be used by the aggregator UE (for example, the UE sending the UAI message to the network node) to have enough time to coordinate with other one or more additional UEs before sending the UAI message. Values for this timer may be in seconds, for example. The timer may start when the aggregator UE decides to cooperate with the one or more  additional UEs or receives one or more cooperation requests from the one or more additional UEs via the UE-UE link. In some aspects, if received OtherConfig includes the CooperationPreferenceConfig and if CooperationPreferenceConfig is set to setup, the UE may consider itself to be configured to provide its preference on the multi-UE cooperation scheme with one or more additional UEs. If received OtherConfig includes the CooperationPreferenceConfig and if CooperationPreferenceConfig is not set to setup, the UE may consider itself not to be configured to provide its preference on the multi-UE cooperation scheme with one or more additional UEs and may stop the timer (for example, T346k) , if running.

[0088] In some aspects, an information element of UEAssistanceInformation may include CooperationAssistance. In some aspects, an RRCreconfig message may include a CooperationConfig information element. If the CooperationConfig information element is absent from the UEAssistanceInformation, this may indicate that the UE is not in cooperation with any UEs, or that the UE is indicating a request to stop an active multi-UE cooperation scheme (for example, if CooperationAssistance was previously sent in a UEAssistanceInformation information element) . If more than two UEs are in cooperation, the aggregator UE may remove any of the UEs by sending a UAI message and not including the subscription concealed identifier (SUCI) of those UEs in a UE-IdforCooperation information element. Similarly, the aggregator may add a UE to an active multi-UE cooperation scheme by sending a UAI message that includes a SUCI of the UE to be added.

[0089] In some aspects, the aggregator UE and any additional UEs using the multi-UE cooperation scheme may coordinate to modify or update the preferred multi-UE cooperation scheme. In some aspects, the aggregator UE may transmit a new UAI message with a modified value in the CooperationSchemePreference information element (for example, within the CooperationAssistance information element) .

[0090] When UE cooperation is enabled, a UE may report UE capabilities in a variety of ways. For example, the UE may report its own capability, or the UE may reports a ‘delta’ capability (for example, additional capability gained from UE cooperation and / or aggregation) via, for example, UAI. The ‘delta’ capability may be updated frequently in association with adding or removing UEs in cooperation with the UE, among other examples.

[0091] In some aspects, the network node may use a same procedure as in a UE initial registration request procedure to authenticate a UE SUCI, which may be sent via the UAI message by the aggregator UE.

[0092] In some aspects, the network node may query from a unified data management (UDM) entity (for example, via an access and mobility management function (AMF) ) about a list of UEs that the aggregator UE (for example, a vehicular-UE) supports for cooperation. In some aspects, a mobile network operator (MNO) may provide this information in collaboration with a manufacturer of the aggregator UE and a list of permissible UEs for cooperation may be introduced in UE subscription information in the UDM entity.

[0093] In some aspects, a network node or an associated network node may broadcast support of UE cooperation via a system information block (SIB) (for example, an on-demand SIB) .
