Abstract
Description
USER EQUIPMENT, BASE STATION, AND WIRELESS COMMUNICATION METHOD FOR LP-WUSTECHNICAL FIELD
[0001] The present disclosure relates to the field of wireless communication systems, and more particularly, to a user equipment (UE) , a base station, and wireless communication methods for low power wake up signal (LP-WUS) .BACKGROUND
[0002] Energy efficiency is one of basic requirements of 5th generation (5G) system due its support of diverse use cases including power sensitive devices such as Internet of Things (IoT) industrial wireless sensors, controllers, wearables, etc. The power consumption of these devices depends on a length of wake-up periods, e.g., paging cycle. To meet the battery life requirements, eDRX cycle with large value is expected to be used, resulting in high latency, which is not suitable for such services with requirements of both long battery life and low latency. For instance, in fire detection and extinguishment use case, fire shutters shall be closed, and fire sprinklers shall be turned on by the actuators within 1 to 2 seconds from the time the fire is detected by sensors, thus long eDRX cycle cannot meet the delay requirements. eDRX is apparently not suitable for latency-critical use cases. In DRx and eDRx cycle, the UEs need to periodically wake up once per DRX cycle, which dominates the power consumption in periods with no signaling or data traffic. If UEs are able to wake up only when they are triggered, e.g., paging in idle / inactive state and PDCCH in connected state, power consumption could be dramatically reduced. This can be achieved by using a wake up signal to trigger the main radio (MR) and a separate receiver which has the ability to monitor the wake up signal with ultra-low power as illustrated in FIG. 1A and FIG. 1B. In prior art, various issues related to low power wake up signal (LP-WUS) are discussed, however, there is no concrete proposal targeting LP-WUS parameters that a UE needs to know. Therefore, there is a need for a user equipment (UE) , a base station, and wireless communication methods for low power wake up signal (LP-WUS) , which can solve issues in the prior art.SUMMARY

[0098] FIG. 3A illustrates a wireless communication method for low power wake up signal (LP-WUS) , applied to a base station side, according to an embodiment of the present disclosure. The wireless communication method for LP-WUS, applied to the base station side includes an operation 202, receiving or generating at least one subgroup-based LP-WUS including at least one temporary subgroup identifier (ID) , and an operation 204, transmitting the at least one subgroup-based LP-WUS to user equipments (UEs) 10 of at least one subgroup, wherein the at least one subgroup includes a first subgroup and a second subgroup. Further, the processor 21 is configured to perform the above wireless communication method for LP-WUS, applied to the base station side. The wireless communication method for LP-WUS, applied to the UE side includes an operation 302, receiving at least one subgroup-based LP-WUS including at least one temporary subgroup identifier (ID) for UEs 10 of at least one subgroup, wherein the at least one subgroup includes a first subgroup and a second subgroup, and an operation 304, transmitting the at least one subgroup-based LP-WUS to the UEs of the at least one subgroup, wherein the at least one subgroup includes a first subgroup and a second subgroup. Further, the processor 11 is configured to perform the above wireless communication method for LP-WUS, applied to the UE side. The processor 11 is also configured to perform the wireless communication method for LP-WUS, applied to the UE side in the following some embodiments.
[0100] In details, in some examples, the at least one subgroup-based LP-WUS is expected to have low power consumption as its primary feature, along with a simplified detection procedure at a low power wake up receiver (LP-WUR) side to support a low-complexity architecture. To achieve at least one objective, some embodiments may focus on different subgroups-based LP-WUS for idle / inactive and connected state UEs 10. In addition, some embodiments propose various methods to reduce the power consumption of the LP-WUR during the detection and decoding of the at least one subgroup-based LP-WUS.
[0101] Information through which UEs are targeted by LP-WUS may include the UE ID, UEs subgroup ID, and / or cell ID. However, including the UE ID, UE subgroup ID, or cell ID in the LP-WUS content results in significant overhead and increased complexity in decoding the LP-WUS at the UE’s LP-WUR. To address this issue, some examples assume that the content of the at least one subgroup-based LP-WUS may include only UE subgroup ID. In other words, the at least one subgroup-based LP-WUS is transmitted to the UEs 10 of the at least one group rather than a single UE, which can reduce an overhead associated with the at least one subgroup-based LP-WUS. However, using a similar subgrouping procedure for idle / inactive state UEs 10 and connected state UEs 10 may increase a false triggering rate of the MRs of UEs 10 in connected states. Therefore, some embodiments of the present disclosure use separate subgroup IDs and separate subgrouping procedure for idle / inactive state UEs 10 and connected state UEs 10.
[0102] In some embodiments, transmitting the at least one subgroup-based LP-WUS to the UEs 10 of the at least one subgroup further includes transmitting a first subgroup-based LP-WUS including a first subgroup IDs to the UEs 10 of the first subgroup, wherein the UEs 10 of the first subgroup are in idle / inactive states. In some embodiments, the wireless communication method for LP-WUS further includes using a first temporary subgroup IDs in the first subgroup.
[0103] In details, in some examples, for the UEs 10 of the first subgroup (idle / inactive state UEs subgroups) , it is assumed that the at least one subgroup-based LP-WUS can reuse the subgrouping procedure that is used for paging the UEs 10 in idle / inactive states. In other words, the at least one subgroup-based LP-WUS can be transmitted to the UEs 10 of the first subgroup based on existing paging subgroups. A first temporary subgroup ID can be matched to the paging subgroups for LP-WUS transmission. The overall procedure of reusing the paging subgroup for the transmission of LP-WUS is illustrated in FIG. 4.
[0104] FIG. 4 illustrates a subgrouping procedure and a temporary subgroup ID assignment for idle / inactive UEs 10 according to an embodiment of the present disclosure. FIG. 4 illustrates that, in some examples, the detail procedure of LP-WUS subgroups for idle / inactive state UEs 10 including at least one of the following operations, is explained below. These operations can be performed in parallel or in a sequential relationship, and the present disclosure is not limited thereto.
[0105] Operation 1. The base station 20 determines the total number of subgroups for UE ID based subgrouping in a cell.
[0106] Operation 2. The base station 20 broadcasts the total number of subgroups for UE ID based subgrouping in a cell in the system information, which receives by MR 10B of UEs 10.
[0107] Operation 3. UEs 10 determine its subgroup in a cell.
[0108] Operation 4. The base station 20 map a first temporary LP-WUS subgroup ID to the paging subgroup ID.
[0109] Operation 5. The base station 20 broadcasts the first temporary LP-WUS subgroups ID for idle / inactive states UE 10 in a cell in the system information, which receives by the MR 10B of UEs 10.
[0110] Operation 6. UEs 10 determine the first temporary LP-WUS subgroup ID.
[0111] Operation 7. When paging message for the LP-WUS capable UE 10 is received from a core network CN at the base station 20 or is generated by the base station 20, the base station 20 determines the PO and the associated LP-WUS occasion for the UE 10.
[0112] 8. Before the UE 10 is paged in paging occasion (PO) , the base station 20 transmits the associated LP-WUS to wake the MR 10B of the UEs 10.
[0113] Note: the subgrouping and temporary subgroup ID assignment procedure is done when the MR 10B of the UE 10 is ON. The UE 10 includes a UE receiver 10A, and the UE receiver 10A includes the MR 10B and a LP-WUR 10C.
[0114] In some embodiments, the first subgroup-based LP-WUS is transmitted to the UEs 10 of the first subgroup based on paging subgroups, and the first temporary subgroup IDs are matched to the paging subgroups. In some embodiments, the first temporary subgroup IDs are based on first code points, and the first code points are mapped to the paging subgroups IDs.
[0115] In details, some examples propose assigning a first temporary subgroup ID to the UEs' paging subgroups, which can be transmitted in the at least one subgroup-based LP-WUS to inform the UEs 10 of the first subgroup to trigger the MR. In some examples, the first temporary subgroup ID can be based on first code points that are mapped to the paging subgroups IDs. The first temporary subgroup ID may refer to the first temporary LP-WUS subgroup ID. For example, if there are 8 paging subgroups, a method utilizing different code points of N=3 bits with a combination of 23= 8 code points can be applied to assign a unique first temporary LP-WUS subgroup ID to each paging subgroup. The mapping of first temporary LP-WUS subgroup ID to the associated paging subgroup is illustrated in Table 1. The first temporary LP-WUS subgroup ID can be carried in the content of the at least one subgroup-based LP-WUS. In some examples, the first temporary LP-WUS subgroup ID based on the first code points is beneficial in terms of low overhead and multiple choice of code points. For instance, for N = 4 bits, 24=16, the total number of combinations of code points could be 16, which can be assigned to 16 different subgroups of UEs.
[0116] Table 1: First code points based first temporary subgroup ID mapping to the paging subgroup ID for idle / inactive state
[0117] In some embodiments, transmitting the at least one subgroup-based LP-WUS to the UEs 10 of the at least one subgroup further includes transmitting a second subgroup-based LP-WUS including a second subgroup IDs to the second subgroup, wherein the UEs 10 of the second subgroup are in connected states. In some embodiments, the wireless communication method for LP-WUS further includes using a second temporary subgroup IDs in the second subgroup.
[0118] Using the paging subgrouping method and including the paging subgroup IDs in the LP-WUS to trigger the subgroup of UEs 10 in the connected states may result in the false trigger rate of the LP-WUS for the MR wake-up and consequently leads to higher power consumption for the UEs 10. To address this issue, some examples of the present disclosure propose designing a new subgrouping for the second subgroup-based LP-WUS and introducing a low overhead second temporary subgroup ID for the UEs 10 of the second subgroup in connected states subgroups. The details procedure of the second subgroup-based LP-WUS for the UEs 10 of the second subgroup are in connected states are illustrated in FIG. 5.
[0119] FIG. 5 illustrates a subgrouping procedure and a temporary subgroup ID assignment for connected UEs 10 according to an embodiment of the present disclosure. FIG. 5 illustrates that, in some examples, the detail procedure of LP-WUS subgroups for connected state UEs 10 including at least one of the following operations, is explained below. These operations can be performed in parallel or in a sequential relationship, and the present disclosure is not limited thereto.
[0120] Operation 1: Base station 20 determines the total number of second LP-WUS subgroups in a cell and map a second temporary subgroup ID to each second subgroup.
[0121] Operation 2: The base station broadcasts the total number of second subgroups and the second temporary subgroup ID in the cell in system information or through cell common RRC message to the MR of UEs in the cell.
[0122] Operation 3: Connected state UEs determines the second LP-WUS subgroup and the second temporary subgroup ID in a cell.
[0123] Operation 4: When PDCCH message for the LP-WUS capable UE 10 is generated by the base station 20, the base station determines the PDCCH occasion and the associated LP-WUS occasion for the UE 10.
[0124] 5. Before the PDCCH is transmitted to the UE 10, the base station 20 transmits the associated LP-WUS to the UEs 10 of the second subgroup to wake the MR of the UEs 10.
[0125] In some embodiments, the second subgroup-based LP-WUS is transmitted to the UEs of the second subgroup based on a second subgroups, and the second temporary subgroup IDs are matched to the second subgroups. In some embodiments, the second temporary subgroup IDs are based on second code points, and the second code points are mapped to the UEs of the second subgroup.
[0126] In details, some examples of the present disclosure discuss a method to calculate the LP-WUS subgroup ID for connected state UE LP-WUS subgroups. The LP-WUS subgroup IDs for connected UEs can design according to the following formula.
[0127] LP-WUS SubgroupID = (floor (UE_ID / (LPF*LP-WUS_O) ) mod NumsubgroupsForUEID) + (NumSubgroupsPerLP-WUS -NumSubgroupsForUEID) , where:
[0128] LPF: is number of total LP_WUS frames in a given time period.
[0129] LP-WUS_O: is the number of LP-WUS occasions in a LP-WUS Frame.
[0130] NumSubgroupsForUEID: number of subgroups for UE_ID based subgrouping in a LP-WUS occasion, which is broadcasted in system information.
[0131] NumSubgroupsPerLP-WUS: total number of subgroups for UE_ID based subgrouping in a LP-WUS occasion, which is broadcasted in system information.
[0132] The UE belonging to the Subgroup ID monitors its associated LP-WUS occasion which indicates the LP-WUS subgroups.
[0133] In some examples, the temporary LP-WUS subgroups ID carries in content of LP-WUS to inform LP-WUS subgroups UE about the LP-WUS trigger in connected state. In this method different code points of N bits can be used to assign a temporary LP-WUS subgroup ID which is carried in the content of the LP-WUS. For instance, consider 8 LP-WUS subgroups of UEs in connected states. The gNB can use only N = 3 bits and 23= 8 bits code points combination to assigned a unique temporary subgroup ID to the LP-WUS UE, in which each code point is associated to a subgroup of UE as shown in Table 2. This subgrouping method is very beneficial due to its multiple choices of code points by using less number of bits to be transmitted in the LP-WUS.
[0134] Table 2: Second code points based second Temporary LP-WUS subgroup ID for connected UE
[0135] In some embodiments, information carried in the at least one subgroup-based LP-WUS includes at least one temporary subgroup ID and at least one subgroup main radio (MR) wake up indication field. In some embodiments, the at least one subgroup MR wake up indication field includes information to wake up the MR of the UEs in the at least one subgroup. In some embodiments, when the information includes a first value, the UEs of the at least one subgroup wake up the MR, and / or when the information includes a second value, the UEs of the at least one subgroup is not required to wake up the MR. In some embodiments, information carried in the at least one subgroup-based LP-WUS includes at least one temporary subgroup ID and at least one UE MR wake up indication field. In some embodiments, the at least one UE wake up indication field includes a bitmap to wake up the MR of the UEs in the at least one subgroup. In some embodiments, when the bitmap includes a first value, the UEs of the at least one subgroup wake up the MR, and / or when the bitmap includes a second value, the UEs of the at least one subgroup are not required to wake up the MR.
[0136] In details, in some examples, it is assumed that the LP-WUS is transmitted to the subgroups of UEs. When the LP-WUS and subgrouping are configured, the LP-WUR of UEs monitors the associated LP-WUS occasion. This embodiment proposes two methods to carry and extract the MR trigger information from the LP-WUS.
[0137] FIG. 6 illustrates an example of information carried in LP-WUS for UEs of at least one subgroup waking up according to an embodiment of the present disclosure. In this method, the content of the LP-WUS includes the subgroup ID and MR wake-up indication field for a subgroup of UEs as shown in FIG. 6. A single bit information in the MR wake-up indication field is used to indicate the subgroup of UEs that need to wake up the MR. This approach reduces the overhead in the indication field of the LP-WUS. However, it may result in an increased false trigger rate as some UEs may receive the wake-up indication unnecessarily.
[0138] FIG. 7 illustrates an example of information carried in the LP-WUS for UEs MR waking up in at least one subgroup according to an embodiment of the present disclosure. This method proposes that the information carries in the LP-WUS contains the subgroup ID and MR wake-up indication field for the n number of UEs in the subgroup as shown in FIG. 7.
[0139] In some examples, in this method, it is assumed that the UE MR wake up indication field of the LP-WUS includes K bits for an LP-WUS occasion, where K bits = n number of UEs for a subgroup in a LP-WUS occasion configured by higher layer parameter. The LP-WUR of the UE can extract the MR trigger information from the MR wake-up indication field as given below.
[0140] For a given subgroup ID, a UE can determine the value of the (i_UE bit = UE_ID mod k) bit in the UE MR wake up indication field, where i_UE bit is bit position in the LP-WUS, K is total number of bits information in the LP-WUS. If the value of the i_UE bit = (UE ID mod k) bit is '1' , the LP-WUR of the UE is required to wake up the MR of the UE, otherwise, if the value of the bit is 0 the LP-WUR of the UE is not required to wake up the MR.
[0141] In some examples, physical resources and various physical parameters should be known to the UE before receiving the LP-WUS. As the design of the LP-WUR aims to be simple, these parameters should be provided to the UE during the initial access through the MR (of the UE or when the MR of the UE is ON.
[0142] FIG. 8 illustrates a wireless communication method for LP-WUS, applied to a base station side, according to an embodiment of the present disclosure. The wireless communication method for LP-WUS, applied to the base station side includes an operation 802, transmitting at least one resource and / or parameter associated with LP-WUS before transmitting the LP-WUS to at least one UE 10 in a cell or to UEs 10 of at least one subgroup. Further, the processor 21 is configured to perform the above wireless communication method for LP-WUS, applied to the UE side. The processor 21 is also configured to perform the wireless communication method for LP-WUS, applied to the UE side in the following some embodiments.
[0143] FIG. 9 illustrates a wireless communication method for LP-WUS, applied to a UE side according to an embodiment of the present disclosure. The wireless communication method for LP-WUS, applied to the base station side includes an operation 902, receiving at least one subgroup-based LP-WUS including at least one temporary subgroup identifier (ID) for UEs 10 of at least one subgroup, wherein the at least one subgroup includes a first subgroup and a second subgroup; and monitoring at least one subgroup-based LP-WUS occasion. Further, the processor 11 is configured to perform the above wireless communication method for LP-WUS, applied to the UE side. The processor 11 is also configured to perform the wireless communication method for LP-WUS, applied to the UE side in the following some embodiments.
[0144] In some embodiments, the at least one resource and / or parameter associated with the LP-WUS includes at least one LP-WUS occasion, at least one LP-WUS frame, at least one LP-WUS frequency location, at least one low power synchronization signal (LP-SS) , and / or LP-WUS information. In some embodiments, the LP-WUS occasion is a set of K consecutive monitoring occasions in time domain, where a low power wake up receiver (LP-WUR) is configured to perform detection attempts to decode the LP-WUS. In some embodiments, K is a total number of monitoring occasions in a LP-WUS occasion configured by higher layers. In some embodiments, K is the total number of monitoring occasions in the LP-WUS occasion configured by the higher layers via SIB1. In some embodiments, a location of each of the at least one LP-WUS occasion in time domain is based on a reference point and an offset from the reference point to a first monitoring occasion of the LP-WUS.
[0145] In some embodiments, the reference point is a paging occasion (PO) for which the LP-WUS is used to wake up the MR, and the offset is a synchronization signal block (SSB) level offset between a target PO and the first monitoring occasion of the LP-WUS. In some embodiments, the reference point is a PO for which the LP-WUS is used to wake up the MR, and the offset is a symbol / slot level offset between the PO and the first monitoring occasion of the LP-WUS. In some embodiments, the reference point is an SSB, and the offset is a symbol / slot level offset between the SSB and the first monitoring occasion of the LP-WUS. In some embodiments, the reference point is a LP-SS, and the offset is a symbol / slot level offset between the LP-SS and a first monitoring occasion of the LP-WUS. In some embodiments, the reference point is a radio frame and the offset is a symbol / slot level offset between a starting of the radio frame and a first monitoring occasion of the LP-WUS. In some embodiments, the radio frame is a frame associated with LP-WUS occasion.
[0146] In some embodiments, at least one frequency resource of at least one UE-based LP-WUS or at least one subgroup UE-based LP-WUS, and / or the at least one LP-SS is configured to the at least one UE or the UEs of the at least one subgroup through a system information. In some embodiments, at least one frequency resource of the at least one UE-based LP-WUS or the at least one subgroup UE-based LP-WUS is derived from at least one frequency resource of the at least one LP-SS. In some embodiments, the LP-WUS information is configured to the at least one UE or to the UEs of a first subgroup in idle / inactive states through a system information.
[0147] In some embodiments, the LP-WUS information is configured to the at least one UE or to the UEs of a second subgroup in connected states through a system information or through radio resource control (RRC) signaling. In some embodiments, the LP-WUS information includes a frequency location and / or a size of LP-WUS, a number of LP-WUS frames, at least one LP-WUS occasion per LP-WUS frame, the reference point, the offset , a total number of symbols per LP-WUS, a number of subgroups per LP-WUS, a number of paging occasions associated with a number of LP-WUS occasions for the UEs of the first subgroup, and / or a number of physical downlink control channels (PDCCHs) associated with a number of LP-WUS occasions for the UEs of the second subgroup.
[0148] FIG. 10 illustrates an example of LP-WUS occasion with K monitoring occasions according to an embodiment of the present disclosure. LP-WUS occasion is a set of K consecutive monitoring occasions in time domain where the LP-WUR performs detection attempts to decode the LP-WUS as shown in FIG. 10. Where K is the total number of monitoring occasion for LP-WUS configured in higher layers such as SIB1. In addition, during the LP-WUS occasion the LP-SS is not configured in order to avoid the time domain conflict between LP-SS and LP-WUS.
[0149] Location of the LP-WUS occasion: The knowledge of the LP-WUS occasion location in the time domain is necessary for the LP-WUR of the UE to be aware of it. This allows the UE’s to have sufficient time to trigger the MR (Main Radio) and synchronize with the network when the LP-WUS is triggered. In order to determine the LP-WUS occasion, this embodiment consider the following two points.
[0150] Reference point: The location of the LP-WUS occasion can be determined using a predefined reference point which is already known to the UE. This reference point serves as a starting point for calculating the timing of the LP-WUS occasion.
[0151] Offset from the reference point: In addition to the reference point, an offset value in terms of slots / symbols is applied to calculate the exact timing of the first monitoring occasion of the LP-WUS occasion. By adding the offset to the reference point, the UE can accurately determine when the LP-WUS will occur.
[0152] FIG. 11 illustrates an example of LP-WUS occasion location with target PO as reference point and SSB level offset between the target PO and LP-WUS for idle / inactive UEs according to an embodiment of the present disclosure. The determination of the LP-WUS occasion, based on the reference points and an offset from the reference point, this embodiment of the present disclosure propose the following alternative options.
[0153] Option 1: With respect to the incoming / target PO in idle / inactive states UEs
[0154] For idle / inactive UEs, the LP-WUS is used to trigger the MR to wake up for the incoming PO. Therefore, the target PO, for which the LP-WUS triggers the MR to wake up, can be considered as a reference point. To identify the location of the LP-WUS occasion to the LP-WUR of the UE, an SSB level offset from the reference point to the first monitoring occasion of the LP-WUS is used as illustrated in FIG. 11. For example, if the LP-WUS occasion is 1 SSB earlier than the target, it is considered as the offset between the LP-WUS occasion and the target PO. By using the target PO as a reference point and determining the appropriate offset, the LP-WUR of the UE can accurately locate the LP-WUS occasion.
[0155] FIG. 12 illustrates an example of LP-WUS occasion location with target PO as reference point and symbol / slot level offset between the target PO and LP-WUS for idle / inactive UEs according to an embodiment of the present disclosure. Similarly, for a UE in an idle / inactive state, the incoming target PO is considered as a reference point, and a symbols / slots level offset from the first PDCCH monitoring occasion of the target PO (reference point) to the first monitoring occasion of LP-WUS can be used to identify the LP-WUS occasion location as shown in FIG. 12.
[0156] FIG. 13 illustrates an example of LP-WUS occasion location with SSB as reference point and symbol / slot level offset between the SSB and LP-WUS according to an embodiment of the present disclosure. In some embodiments, SSB can be considered as a reference point, and a symbols / slot level offset is between the SSB and first monitoring occasion of the LP-WUS can be used to identify the LP-WUS occasion location as shown in FIG. 13.
[0157] FIG. 14 illustrates an example of LP-WUS occasion location with LP-SS as reference point and symbol / slot level offset between the LP-SS and first monitoring occasion of LP-WUS for idle / inactive and connected UEs according to an embodiment of the present disclosure. In this embodiment, the LP-WUS location can be determined according to the periodic LP-SS transmitted by the network to synchronize the LP-WUR of the UE. The reference point can be considered as first symbol of the LP-SS and a symbols / slots level offset form the first symbol of the LP-SS to the first monitoring occasion of the LP-WUS as shown in FIG. 14.
[0158] FIG. 15 illustrates an example of LP-WUS occasion location with LP-WUS as reference point and symbols / slots level offset between the starting of LP-WUS frame and first monitoring occasion of LP-WUS for idle / inactive and connected UEs according to an embodiment of the present disclosure. In some embodiments, an LP-WUS frame can be introduced which is used to transmit the LP_WUS occasion. In this embodiment, the starting symbol of the LP-WUS frame is considered as a reference point and a symbols / slots level between the reference point and the first monitoring occasion of the LP_WUS occasion is considered in order to know the LP-WUS occasion location as shown in FIG. 15.
[0159] Some embodiments of the present disclosure propose that the LP-WUS can be transmitted in a LP-WUS frame, where an LP-WUS is Radio Frame and may contain one or multiple LP-WUS occasion or starting point of a LP-WUS occasion. The maximum number of LP-WUS occasion in one LP_WUS frame can be in the range of {1, 2 or 4} LP-WUS occasion.
[0160] Knowing the frequency resources in which the LP-WUS is transmitted to the LP-WUR of the UE is important for allowing the LP-WUR of the UE to perform blind detection for LP-WUS in specific frequency resources rather than searching the entire system bandwidth. This can reduce LP-WUR power consumption and blind detection complexity. To achieve this, this embodiment of the present disclosure proposes that the frequency resources of the LP-WUS as well as LP-SS is configured to the UE during the initial access process in the following two ways.
[0161] During the initial access process, when the UE indicated whether it supports LP-WUS by including its information in the random access preamble message. The based station can configure / indicate to frequency resources to the UE in the SIB1 or SIB_X in which it will transmit the LP-WUS. In this way the frequency resources in which the LP-WUS is configured can be limited and the LP-WUR of UE do not need to perform blind detection in higher bandwidth and thus it can save the power.
[0162] FIG. 16 illustrates an example of frequency resources of LP-WUS derived from the frequency resources of LP-SS implicitly according to an embodiment of the present disclosure. In some embodiments, during the initial access, when the UE looks up for the cell to camp on and perform synchronization with the base station, the LP-WUR of the UE can also use periodic LP-SS transmitted by the base station. When the LP-WUR of the UE perform time frequency synchronization with the base station, it can implicitly derives the frequency resources in which the base station can transmit the LP-WUS. The illustration example of this method is shown in FIG. 16. In this embodiment it is assumed, that the LP-SS and LP-WUS will be transmitted in the same frequency resources.
[0163] In some examples, a UE can be provided the following for the detection of LP-WUS in Idle / inactive state and connected state by SIB1 or SIBx, or through cell common RRC signaling for connected state UE. The UE can be provided with at least one of the following parameters: 1. Frequency location and the size of the LP-WUS, to monitor LP-WUS, 2. A number of LP-WUS frames and the associated LP-WUS occasion in a LP-WUS frame. 3. a reference point and an offset form the reference point. 4. The total number of symbols of an LP-WUS. 5. The number of subgroups per LP-WUS. 6. A number of paging occasions associated with the number of LP-WUS occasions in idle / inactive state and number of PDCCH associated with the number of LP-WUS occasion in connected state. Note: In case any changes in aforementioned parameters happen the gNB need to indicate the UE about the through system information updates.
[0164] In summary, in some embodiments, the main objective of this invention is to disclose a low overhead content of the LP-WUS by reducing its carrying information through which the UE is targeted, and let the UE know several physical layer parameters before receiving the LP-WUS. This in turn, reduces the LP-WUS detection complexity and the power consumption at the LP-WUR of the UE. The disclosed methods and parameters to achieve our objectives are summarized as below. 1. Separate Subgrouping method for idle / inactive and connected state UEs are disclosed and it is proposed that the LP-WUS can be transmitted to the subgroup of UEs instead of single UEs. 2. Temporary subgroup IDs are defined and used for subgrouping in idle / inactive state and connected state UEs, in order to reduce the overhead of the LP-WUS. 3. Methods of how the LP-WUR can extract the MR trigger information from the LP-WUS has disclosed. 4. LP-WUS occasion and its location in time domain is disclosed. 5. Method of informing the UE about the time / frequency resources and other parameters associated with the LP-WUS before the detection of the LP-WUS. In some embodiments, the advantages of this invention can be is summarized below. 1. Reduced Overhead: By implementing separate subgrouping methods for idle / inactive and connected state UEs, the LP-WUS can be transmitted to subgroups of UEs instead of individual UEs. This approach helps minimize the overhead associated with the LP-WUS. 2. Temporary Subgroup IDs: The use of temporary subgroup IDs in both idle / inactive and connected states helps in reducing the overhead of the LP-WUS. These IDs facilitate efficient subgrouping of UEs. 3. Enhanced LP-WUR Functionality: The invention discloses simplified methods of the LP-WUR to extract the MR trigger information from the LP-WUS. This enables improved functionality and performance of the LP-WUR. 4. Precise LP-WUS Occasion: The disclosure provides information about the LP-WUS occasion and its specific location in the time domain. This precise knowledge allows for accurate detection and reduce the blind detection for LP-WUS decoding. 5. Prior Knowledge of Parameters: The invention introduces a method of informing UEs about the time / frequency resources and other parameters associated with the LP-WUS before its detection. This prior knowledge enables UEs to efficiently process and decode the LP-WUS, reducing detection complexity.
