Abstract

Provided in the present application is a sensing method. In the method, a first STA mainly controls supplementary measurement of a first link between a second STA serving as a source node and the first STA serving as a destination node. The method comprises: when the first STA determines that it is necessary to perform supplementary measurement on the first link, the first STA sending a first notification message to the second STA, so as to notify that the second STA initiates supplementary measurement of the first link. Compared with methods in which an AP mainly controls supplementary measurement of the first link, the method has the advantages that there is no need for the first STA to send a corresponding CSI measurement result to the AP after each measurement of a data message of the second STA; thus, the occupation of a channel during sensing measurement can be reduced, thereby reducing the interference of sensing on data communication.

Description

Perception method and communication device

[0001] This application claims priority to the Chinese patent application filed with the State Intellectual Property Office of China on September 28, 2023, with application number 202311294135.9 and application name “Perception Method and Communication Device”, the entire contents of which are incorporated by reference into this application. Technical Field

[0002] The present application relates to the field of wireless communications, and in particular, to a sensing method and a communication device. Background Art

[0003] Currently, when a non-access point station (non-AP STA) (hereinafter referred to as an STA) opportunistically measures a wireless communication link with the STA as the destination node, the STA performs channel state information (CSI) measurements based on data packets from STA#2 and notifies the access point (AP) of the measured CSI measurement results. The AP then decides whether to initiate supplementary measurements of the wireless communication link. Opportunistic measurements refer to perceptual measurements that use data packets for CSI measurements, while supplementary measurements refer to perceptual measurements that use specific measurement packets for CSI measurements.

[0004] Since wireless link perception measurements generally require a relatively high frequency, for example, CSI measurements are required 10 times per second, STA#1 must occupy the channel 10 times per second to feed back CSI measurement results to the AP. This high frequency of channel occupation significantly interferes with normal data communications.

[0005] Summary of the Invention

[0006] The present application provides a perception method that can reduce channel occupancy during perception measurement, thereby reducing the interference of perception on data communication.

[0007] In a first aspect, a perception method is provided. The method may be performed by a first STA, or may be performed by a component of the first STA (e.g., a chip or circuit), without limitation. For ease of description, the following description is based on an example of a first STA performing the perception method.

[0008] The method includes: a first STA determines that a supplementary measurement is required for a first link, wherein the first link is a link with a second STA as a source node and the first STA as a destination node, and the supplementary measurement is a measurement method that uses a dedicated measurement message for perception; the first STA sends a first notification message to the second STA, and the first notification message is used to inform the second STA to initiate a supplementary measurement of the first link.

[0009] In the above technical solution, the first STA controls the supplementary measurement of the first link. Compared with the supplementary measurement of the first link controlled by the AP, the first STA does not need to send the corresponding CSI measurement result to the AP after each measurement of the data message of the second STA, thereby reducing the channel occupancy and further reducing the interference with data communication.

[0010] In combination with the first aspect, in certain implementations of the first aspect, the first STA determines that additional measurement of the first link is needed based on a first condition, and the first condition includes: the first STA is unable to opportunistically measure the first link, and the opportunistic measurement is a measurement method that uses data packets for perception, or the first STA cannot meet the measurement requirements of the first link when opportunistically measuring the first link, or the first STA determines that the change amplitude of the first channel state information CSI measurement result is greater than a predefined CSI change threshold, and the first CSI measurement result is the CSI measurement result obtained by the first STA measuring a data packet received from the second STA.

[0011] In the above technical solution, the STA directly initiates supplementary measurements after discovering CSI changes, reducing the process of measuring and reporting to the AP, and can respond to CSI changes more quickly, thereby effectively obtaining fine-grained and real-time measurement results for subsequent applications.

[0012] In combination with the first aspect, in some implementations of the first aspect, the first STA is unable to opportunistically measure the first link, including: the first STA does not receive a data packet from the second STA, or the first STA is unable to measure the data packet from the second STA.

[0013] In combination with the first aspect, in certain implementations of the first aspect, the first STA determines that the measurement requirements of the first link cannot be met when opportunity measuring the first link, including: the frequency at which the first STA receives data packets from the second STA is less than the first measurement frequency, and the first measurement frequency is the reference frequency for the first STA's opportunity measurement.

[0014] In combination with the first aspect, in certain implementations of the first aspect, when the first STA determines that the change amplitude of the first CSI measurement result is greater than the CSI change threshold, the first STA determines that a supplementary measurement of the first link is required, including: the first STA determines that the change amplitude of the first CSI measurement result is greater than the CSI change threshold, and the first link needs to be measured at a first frequency greater than the first measurement frequency, and the first measurement frequency is a reference frequency for the first STA's opportunistic measurement; the frequency at which the first STA sends data packets is less than the first measurement frequency, and the first STA determines that a supplementary measurement of the first link is required.

[0015] In combination with the first aspect, in certain implementations of the first aspect, the first notification message includes timer information and measurement link information, the timer information indicates the first duration, the measurement link information indicates the first link, and the first timer duration is used to indicate that the second STA initiates a supplementary measurement of the first link after the first duration expires.

[0016] In combination with the first aspect, in certain implementations of the first aspect, the dedicated measurement message is a null data packet NDP message, and the method also includes: the first STA receives a null data packet announcement NDPA message from the second STA at an interval of a first time length; the first STA receives an NDP message from the second STA after receiving the NDPA.

[0017] In combination with the first aspect, in some implementations of the first aspect, the method also includes: the first STA receives a first perception measurement request message from a first access point AP, the first perception measurement request message includes first indication information, and the first indication information indicates that the first STA controls the supplementary measurement.

[0018] With reference to the first aspect, in some implementations of the first aspect, the first perception measurement request message further includes measurement link information, where the measurement link information indicates the first link.

[0019] In combination with the first aspect, in certain implementations of the first aspect, the first perception measurement request message also includes a first measurement frequency, a second measurement frequency, a channel state information CSI change threshold and a first time interval, wherein the first measurement frequency is the reference frequency for the first STA opportunity measurement, the second measurement frequency is the reference frequency for the first STA supplementary measurement, and the first time interval is the time interval between two adjacent measurement report messages sent to the first AP when the change amplitude of the CSI measurement result corresponding to the first link does not exceed the CSI change threshold.

[0020] In a second aspect, a sensing method is provided. The method may be performed by a second STA, or may be performed by a component of the second STA (e.g., a chip or circuit), without limitation. For ease of description, the following description is based on an example of the second STA performing the sensing method.

[0021] The method includes: a second STA receives a first notification message from a first STA, where the first notification message is used to inform the second STA to initiate a supplementary measurement of a first link, wherein the first link is a link with the second STA as a source node and the first STA as a destination node, and the supplementary measurement is a measurement method for perception using a dedicated measurement message; and the second STA initiates the supplementary measurement of the first link.

[0022] For the beneficial effects of the second aspect, please refer to the description of the first aspect and will not be repeated here.

[0023] In combination with the second aspect, in certain implementations of the second aspect, the first notification message includes timer information and measurement link information, the timer information indicates the first duration, the measurement link information indicates the first link, and the first timer duration is used to indicate that the second STA initiates a supplementary measurement of the first link after the first duration expires.

[0024] In combination with the second aspect, in certain implementations of the second aspect, the dedicated measurement message is an empty data packet NDP message, and the second STA initiates a supplementary measurement of the first link, including: the second STA sends an empty data packet announcement NDPA message to the first STA at an interval of the first time length; the second STA sends an NDP message to the first STA after sending the NDPA.

[0025] In a third aspect, a perception method is provided. The method can be performed by a first STA, or by a component of the first STA (e.g., a chip or circuit), without limitation. For ease of description, the following description is based on an example of the first STA performing the perception method.

[0026] The method includes: a first STA sends a first measurement report message to a first access point AP, where the first measurement report message indicates that the first STA is unable to measure a first link, where the first link is a link with a second STA as a source node and the first STA as a destination node; and the first STA receives a second perception measurement request message from the first AP, where the second perception measurement request message is used to request the first STA to perform perception measurement on a second link, where the second link is a link with a third STA as a source node and the first STA as a destination node.

[0027] The above technical solution provides a mechanism for STAs to report errors to the AP, freeing the AP from the task of constantly monitoring the specific measurement processes between STAs. This mechanism supports STA autonomous measurements and improves the reliability of opportunistic measurements.

[0028] In combination with the third aspect, in certain implementations of the third aspect, the first measurement report message includes measurement link information and error report information, the measurement link information indicates the first link, and the error report information indicates that the first STA cannot measure the first link.

[0029] In combination with the third aspect, in certain implementations of the third aspect, the first measurement report message further includes error cause information, where the error cause information indicates an error cause why the first STA cannot measure the first link.

[0030] In this example, the error is caused by the second STA not responding.

[0031] In combination with the third aspect, in certain implementations of the third aspect, the first STA performing perception measurement on the second link includes performing opportunistic measurement on the second link, where the opportunistic measurement is a measurement method that uses data packets for perception.

[0032] In combination with the third aspect, in certain implementations of the third aspect, the method also includes: the first STA determines that supplementary measurement of the second link is required; the first STA sends a second notification message to the third STA, and the second notification message is used to inform the third STA to initiate supplementary measurement of the first link, wherein the supplementary measurement is a measurement method for perception using a dedicated measurement message.

[0034] In combination with the third aspect, in certain implementations of the third aspect, the second perception measurement request message further includes measurement parameters of the second link perceived by the first STA.

[0035] In a fourth aspect, a sensing method is provided. The method may be performed by a first AP, or by a component of the first AP (e.g., a chip or circuit), without limitation. For ease of description, the following description is based on an example of the first AP performing the sensing method.

[0036] The method includes: a first AP receives a first measurement report message from a first station STA, where the first measurement report message indicates that the first STA cannot measure a first link, where the first link is a link with a second STA as a source node and the first STA as a destination node; and the first AP sends a second perception measurement request message to the first STA, where the second perception measurement request message is used to request the first STA to perform perception measurement on a second link, where the second link is a link with a third STA as a source node and the first STA as a destination node.

[0037] For the beneficial effects of the fourth aspect, please refer to the description of the third aspect and will not be repeated here.

[0038] In combination with the fourth aspect, in certain implementations of the fourth aspect, the first measurement report message further includes measurement link information and error report information, the measurement link information indicates the first link, and the error report information indicates that the first STA cannot measure the first link.

[0039] In combination with the fourth aspect, in certain implementations of the fourth aspect, the first measurement report message further includes error cause information, where the error cause information indicates an error cause why the first STA cannot measure the first link.

[0040] In this example, the error is caused by the second STA not responding.

[0041] With reference to the fourth aspect, in certain implementations of the fourth aspect, the second perception measurement request message includes measurement link information, where the measurement link information indicates the second link.

[0042] In combination with the fourth aspect, in certain implementations of the fourth aspect, the second perception measurement request message further includes measurement parameters of the second link for opportunistic measurement and supplementary measurement by the first STA.

[0043] In a fifth aspect, a perception method is provided. The method can be performed by a first STA, or can also be performed by a component of the first STA (such as a chip or circuit), without limitation. For ease of description, the following description is based on the example of the first STA performing the method.

[0044] The method includes: a first station STA receives a third perception measurement request message from a first access point AP, where the third perception measurement request message is used to request the first STA to perceive and measure any one of N links, where the destination nodes of the N links are all the first STA, and N is an integer greater than 1; the first STA measures one of the N links.

[0045] It can be understood that during the opportunistic measurement process, each node sends data packets randomly. Under this condition, this method can greatly improve the probability of successful opportunistic measurement by allowing the first STA to measure any link among multiple links, thereby reducing the impact on data communication when using dedicated perception measurement packets for perception measurement.

[0046] In combination with the fifth aspect, in certain implementations of the fifth aspect, the third perception measurement request message includes measurement link information and measurement type information, the measurement link information indicates N links, and the measurement type information indicates that the first STA only needs to measure any one of the N links.

[0047] In combination with the fifth aspect, in certain implementations of the fifth aspect, a link is a first link, the first link is a link with the second STA as the source node, and the first STA measures one link among N links, including: the first STA receives a data packet from the second STA based on a first measurement frequency, the first measurement frequency is a reference frequency for opportunistic measurement of the first STA, and the opportunistic measurement is a measurement method that uses data packets for perception; the first STA performs channel state information CSI measurement based on the data packet of the second STA.

[0048] In combination with the fifth aspect, in certain implementations of the fifth aspect, the N links include a second link, the second link is a link with a third STA as a source node, and the method also includes: the first STA receives a first dedicated measurement message from the third STA, the first dedicated measurement message is a measurement message used for supplementary measurement, and the first dedicated measurement message is used by the first STA to perform supplementary measurement on the second link; the first STA sends a first notification message to the third STA, and the first notification message is used to inform the third STA that there is no need to initiate supplementary measurement of the second link.

[0049] In the above technical solution, for the third STA that has no data message to send, the first STA can suppress the subsequent sending of the supplementary measurement message through the first notification message, thereby reducing the sending of redundant measurement messages.

[0050] In a sixth aspect, a sensing method is provided. The method may be performed by a first AP, or may be performed by a component of the first AP (e.g., a chip or circuit), without limitation. For ease of description, the following description is based on an example of the first AP performing the sensing method.

[0051] The method includes: a first access point AP determines a third perception measurement request message, where the third perception measurement request message is used to request a first station STA to perceive and measure any one of N links, where the destination nodes of the N links are all the first STA, and N is an integer greater than 1; the first AP sends the third perception measurement request message to the first STA.

[0052] For the beneficial effects of the sixth aspect, please refer to the description in the fifth aspect and will not be repeated here.

[0053] In combination with the sixth aspect, in certain implementations of the sixth aspect, the third perception measurement request message includes measurement link information and measurement type information, the measurement link information indicates N links, and the measurement type information indicates that the first STA only needs to measure any one of the N links.

[0091] With the development of wireless local area networks and wireless cellular technologies, a wide range of wireless communication devices have become widely deployed in people's daily lives. These devices include mobile phones, computers, wireless routers, smart home devices, wireless sensors, and wireless routers. Key features of these devices are their large number, low cost, and close proximity to users. In a typical home, there are often dozens or even hundreds of wireless devices surrounding a user. During wireless communication, these devices sense the interference of surrounding objects with radio waves and use this interference to detect the target's movements.

[0092] FIG2 is a schematic diagram of wireless passive sensing. The main task of a wireless passive sensing system is to sense one or more targets in an environment, such as the sensing target 101 in FIG1. A passive sensing system generally includes one or more signal transmitters, such as transmitter A (103) and transmitter B (104) in the figure, and one or more signal receivers, such as receiver 102 in the figure. The wireless signal sent by the transmitter is reflected by the sensing target 101 to form a reflection signal A (105) and a reflection signal B (106). After the reflection signal is received by the receiver 102, the receiver can sense the state of the target 101 by measuring the CSI of the reflection signal. The change of the wireless channel is manifested as the change of the amplitude and phase of the CSI. By measuring the change of the CSI over time at the receiver, it is possible to sense whether there is a target moving around and what specific action the target is taking. Therefore, this technology can be widely used in applications such as intrusion detection, elderly care, gesture recognition, respiratory sleep monitoring, and indoor people counting.

[0093] Existing wireless passive sensing technologies primarily implement passive sensing through specific wireless packets, such as null data packets (NDPs), by performing CSI measurements on the long training field (LTF) within these NDPs. With this technology, each measurement of a wireless link (a wireless communication connection between a pair of transmitting and receiving nodes) requires an interaction between the sender and receiver, occupying the wireless channel for a certain period of time. Since wireless channels are typically used for both data transmission and wireless sensing, if wireless sensing occupies too much of the wireless channel resources, data communication will inevitably be impacted. Therefore, finding a low-cost wireless sensing solution is a crucial aspect of wireless sensing protocol design. In wireless communications, in addition to dedicated sensing packets, other data packets often carry long training symbols, which can be used for CSI measurement without decoding the entire packet. Therefore, the receiver can continuously monitor the wireless channel and perform CSI measurements based on the data packets received from the transmitter. It should be noted that the destination address of the data packets used for CSI measurement by the measurement receiver is not necessarily the measurement receiver's address. The measurement receiver only needs to determine that the source address in the CSI measurement data packet is the address of the transmitter and obtain the complete LTF in the packet. Currently, this type of perception measurement technology that uses data packets transmitted in wireless networks is generally called opportunistic measurement.

[0094] Figure 3 is a schematic diagram of a communication device interaction system applicable to the present application. The system includes a measurement initiator 301 and measurement responders 302 and 303. Among them, the measurement initiator is responsible for planning the measurement task and collecting measurement results. Generally, the measurement initiator is an AP. In the subsequent processes of this application, AP is used to refer to the measurement initiator. Of course, this application can be extended to scenarios where the measurement initiator is not an AP or there are multiple APs coexisting. The measurement responder is responsible for sending and receiving measurement messages, performing actual measurements, and feeding back the measurement results to the measurement initiator. The measurement responder is generally a wireless terminal device connected to a wireless local area network. In the subsequent processes of this application, STA is used to refer to the measurement responder. As shown in Figure 3, the measurement initiator 301 notifies the measurement responder 302 of the relevant information of the measurement task through a perception measurement request message 310. The measurement responder 302 sends the measurement results to the measurement initiator 301 through a measurement report message 311. Measurement responders can perform CSI measurements between each other via measurement messages 312. One party is responsible for sending the measurement message and may be referred to as the measurement transmitter in this application. The other party is responsible for measuring the given message to obtain CSI and may be referred to as the measurement receiver in this application. The wireless communication link between the measurement transmitter and the measurement receiver may be referred to as the perception measurement link in this application. The same measurement responder can serve as both the measurement transmitter and the measurement receiver in the same measurement task. Measurement responders can exchange measurement information via measurement notification messages 313.

[0095] This application mainly relates to opportunistic measurement between STAs. The specific process of opportunistic measurement between STAs is introduced below with reference to FIG4 .

[0096] 4 is a diagram illustrating a method 400 for opportunistic measurement between STAs. The method includes the following steps.

[0097] Step 1a: The AP determines that an opportunistic measurement is required for Link #1, which has STA #2 as the source node and STA #1 as the destination node. The AP packages the measurement request in a Sensing Measurement Request message #1 and sends it to STA #1.

[0098] Step 2a: STA#1 records the measurement requirements of the corresponding link and sends a Sensing Measurement Response message to the AP to confirm participation in the sensing measurement.

[0099] Step 1b: The AP packages the measurement request in the perception measurement request message #2 and sends it to STA #2.

[0100] Step 2b: STA#2 records the measurement requirements of the corresponding link, and STA#2 sends a perception measurement response message #2 to the AP to confirm participation in the perception measurement.

[0101] Step 3: STA#1 sends a data frame as normal. For example, STA#2 sends a data frame to the AP. At this time, according to the opportunistic measurement requirements, STA#1 monitors the data frame sent by STA#2 and performs CSI measurement based on the data frame to obtain CSI measurement result #1.

[0102] Step 4: STA#1 sends a measurement report (Measurement Report) message #1 to the AP, where the message includes the CSI measurement result #1.

[0103] It should be noted that the opportunistic measurement process in step 3 and step 4 of this flow can be repeated multiple times. Repeating multiple times here means that after STA#1 measures a data packet, it sends a measurement report message to the AP.

[0104] Optionally, within a specified time period, if the AP does not receive a measurement report message, or the number of data packets sent by STA#2 is insufficient, resulting in failure to meet the measurement frequency, the AP determines that additional measurement of link #1 is required.

[0105] It should be understood that supplementary measurement is to use specific wireless messages other than data messages to perform perception measurement. It is precisely because opportunistic measurement cannot be performed, but the measurement of the link needs to be completed that the supplementary measurement process needs to be initiated.

[0106] For example, the following takes the measurement message used for the supplementary measurement as an NDP message as an example to continue to introduce how to perform the supplementary measurement, which also includes steps 5 to 9.

[0107] Step 5: The AP sends a Sensing Polling Trigger message to STA#1 and STA#2 to wake up STA#1 and STA#2 to perform additional measurements on link #1.

[0108] Step 6: STA#1 and STA#2 each send a Clear-to-Send (CTS-to-self) message to the AP to confirm their participation in the measurement.

[0109] Step 7: The AP sends a Sensing SR2SI Sounding Trigger Frame message to STA#2, triggering STA#2 to send an NDP message to the AP. SR2SI stands for sensing responder to sensing initiator.

[0110] Step 8: STA#2 sends an SR2SI NDP message to the AP. STA#1 monitors the SR2SI NDP message sent by STA#1 and performs CSI measurement based on the NDP message to obtain CSI measurement result #2.

[0111] Step 9: STA#1 sends a measurement report message #2 to the AP, which includes the CSI measurement result #2.

[0112] It should be noted that the supplementary measurement process from step 5 to step 9 in this flow can be repeated multiple times. Repeating multiple times here means that after STA#1 measures an NDP message, it sends a measurement report message to the AP.

[0113] As can be seen in this process, since the AP controls supplemental measurements between STAs, STA#1 must inform the AP of the measurement results after each measurement, and the AP decides whether to initiate supplemental measurements. Link measurements typically have a relatively high measurement frequency. For example, if CSI measurements are required 10 times per second, STA#1 would need to occupy the channel 10 times per second to report CSI measurement results. This high frequency of channel occupation significantly interferes with normal data communications.

[0114] In view of this, the present application proposes a perception method that can effectively solve the above technical problems. The method proposed in the present application is described in detail below with reference to FIG5 .

[0115] Fig. 5 is a schematic flow chart of a perception method 500 provided by the present application. The method 500 includes the following steps.

[0116] S510, the first STA determines that a supplementary measurement needs to be performed on the first link, where the first link is a link with the second STA as the source node and the first STA as the destination node, and the supplementary measurement is a measurement method of sensing using a dedicated measurement message.

[0117] Several possible scenarios in which the first STA needs to perform supplementary measurements on the first link are given below.

[0118] (1) The first STA is unable to opportunistically measure the first link, so the first STA determines that a supplementary measurement of the first link is required, wherein the opportunistic measurement is a measurement method that uses data packets for perception.

[0119] For example, if the first STA does not receive a data packet from the second STA, the first STA considers that it is impossible to measure the first link.

[0120] For example, if the first STA cannot measure the data message from the second STA, the first STA considers that it cannot measure the first link. Specifically, the first STA may be unable to measure the data message from the second STA due to reasons such as its own sleep, transmitter power control, and beamforming.

[0121] (2) When the first STA opportunity measures the first link, if the measurement requirement of the first link cannot be met, the first STA determines that a supplementary measurement of the first link is required.

[0122] For example, if the frequency at which the first STA receives data packets from the second STA is less than the first measurement frequency, it is considered that the first STA cannot meet the measurement requirements of the first link when measuring the first link, wherein the first measurement frequency is the reference frequency for the first STA's opportunity measurement.

[0123] It should be understood that the first measurement frequency is the measurement frequency that the first STA needs to achieve when opportunistically measuring the first link. However, it should be noted that because the frequency of data packets sent by the second STA is determined by the actual data to be sent, the frequency of data packets sent by the second STA may be lower than the first measurement frequency. In this case, the first STA can still opportunistically measure the first link, but the first STA's opportunistic measurement of the first link cannot meet the measurement requirements of the first link.

[0124] (3) The first STA determines that the change amplitude of the first CSI measurement result is greater than the CSI change threshold, then the first STA determines that a supplementary measurement of the first link is required, and the first CSI measurement result is a CSI measurement result obtained by the first STA performing CSI measurement on a data packet received from the second STA.

[0125] For example, the CSI change threshold can be predefined or carried in a first perception measurement request message in which the first AP requests the first STA to measure the first link. The first perception measurement request message requests perception measurement of the first link. The first perception measurement request message is not described in detail here and will be described in detail later.

[0126] It can be understood that when the change amplitude of the first CSI measurement result is greater than the CSI change threshold, it means that the current measurement environment has changed significantly. At this time, it is necessary to increase the measurement frequency to quickly obtain fine-grained measurement results and obtain valuable real-time data for subsequent perception tasks. Therefore, the first STA can trigger supplementary measurements to measure the first link at a frequency greater than the first measurement frequency.

[0127] In one possible implementation, during the opportunistic measurement process, the first STA records the historical CSI measurement results of the first link. Each time the CSI of the first link is measured, the first STA determines whether the change amplitude of the first CSI measurement result is greater than the CSI change threshold based on the newly measured CSI and the historically recorded CSI. If it is greater than the CSI change threshold, the first STA determines that a supplementary measurement of the first link is required. For example, the change amplitude of the first CSI measurement result is the change amplitude of the CSI newly measured by the first STA (i.e., the first CSI measurement result) compared with the average value of the historically recorded CSI. For example, the CSI values at moments 1, 2, and 3 are 1, 2.5, and 0.5, respectively, and the CSI value at moment 4 is 0.2. The average value of the CSI recorded at moments 1, 2, and 3 is (1+2.5+0.5) / 3. Then, the change amplitude of the CSI measured at moment 4 is 0.2 compared with the change amplitude of (1+2.5+0.5) / 3.

[0128] As can be seen from the description in (2), in order to meet the measurement requirements of the first link, the first STA needs to perform opportunistic measurement on the first link at the first measurement frequency. That is, the frequency at which the second STA sends data packets needs to be greater than or equal to the first measurement frequency to meet the measurement requirements of the opportunistic measurement of the first link. If the frequency at which the second STA sends data packets is greater than the first measurement frequency, the first STA can choose to perform CSI measurement based only on part of the data packets sent by the second STA, that is, perform CSI measurement on the data packets from the second STA at the first measurement frequency.

[0129] In one embodiment, when the change amplitude of the first CSI measurement result is greater than the CSI change threshold, the first STA needs to measure the first link at a frequency greater than the first measurement frequency (for example, frequency #A). If the frequency at which the second STA sends data packets is not greater than the first measurement frequency, the first STA determines that a supplementary measurement of the first link is required. If the frequency at which the first STA sends data packets is greater than or equal to frequency #A, the first STA may continue to perform opportunistic measurements on the first link based on frequency #A.

[0130] In another embodiment, the variation range of the first CSI measurement result is greater than the CSI variation threshold, and the first STA considers that supplementary measurement of the first link is required regardless of whether the frequency of sending data packets by the second STA is greater than frequency #A.

[0131] Optionally, in this application, the second STA may determine whether additional measurements are required on the first link. For example, the second STA determines that additional measurements are required on the first link because the second STA has no data packets to send or the second STA does not monitor the measurement report sent by the first STA to the AP.

[0132] The above scenarios only provide examples of scenarios in which the first STA and the second STA determine that supplementary measurements need to be performed on the first link. In practice, there may be more scenarios in which supplementary measurements need to be performed on the first link, and this application does not impose any restrictions on this.

[0133] For example, before S510, the method further includes: the first STA receives a first perception measurement request message from the first AP, the first perception measurement request message includes first indication information, and the first indication information instructs the first STA to control the supplementary measurement.

[0134] For example, the first STA mainly controls the supplementary measurement of the first link, which means that the first STA determines whether the supplementary measurement of the first link needs to be performed.

[0135] For example, the first perception measurement request message includes measurement link information, where the measurement link information indicates N links, where the N links include the first link, and N is a positive integer.

[0136] For example, the first perception measurement request message includes at least one of the following parameters: a first measurement frequency, a second measurement frequency, a CSI change threshold and a first time interval, wherein the first measurement frequency is a reference frequency for the first STA's opportunity measurement, the second measurement frequency is a reference frequency for the first STA's supplementary measurement, and the first time interval is a time interval between two adjacent measurement report messages sent to the first AP when the change amplitude of the CSI measurement result corresponding to the first link does not exceed the CSI change threshold.

[0137] It should be understood that the above measurement requirement parameters are applicable to the N links indicated by the measurement link information unless otherwise specified, and the details will not be described in detail.

[0138] FIG6 is a schematic diagram of a frame structure of a possible perception measurement request message proposed in the present application. The perception measurement request message may be any of the perception measurement messages described in the embodiments of the present application. For ease of description, the frame corresponding to the perception measurement request message shown in FIG6 is referred to as a perception measurement request frame. The perception measurement request frame may include, but is not limited to, the parameters included in the first perception measurement request message described above.

[0139] It should be understood that the number of bits occupied by each field in the perception measurement request frame given in FIG6 is only an example and should not limit the frame structure or frame length of the perception measurement request frame proposed in this application.

[0140] It should also be understood that the name of the perception measurement request frame and the names of the fields included in FIG6 are merely examples and should not limit the perception measurement request frame proposed in this application.

[0141] As shown in Figure 6, the perception measurement request frame includes a measurement type field, an opportunity measurement frequency field, a CSI variation threshold field, an active measurement frequency field, a report interval field, a link count field, a source association identification (AID) (S / AID) field, and a destination association identification (D / AID) field. Each field is described in detail below.

[0142] (1) The measurement type field occupies 8 bits, of which 3 bits have specific meanings, and the remaining 5 bits are reserved. The following describes the 3 bits with specific meanings. The positions of bits 1 through 3 within the 8 bits are not limited.

[0143] The first bit indicates whether the node receiving the message needs to measure all links in the link list with the node as the destination node. For example, if the bit is 0, it indicates that the node needs to measure all links in the link list with the node as the destination node, and if the bit is 1, it indicates that only any one link in the link list with the node as the destination node needs to be measured. For example, if the link list contains two links STA#2->STA#1 and STA#3->STA#1. At this time, if the bit is 1, it means that STA#1 only needs to measure any one of the two links. The scheme corresponding to this field is described in detail in Figures 12 and 13 below, and will not be described in detail here.

[0144] The second bit indicates the link direction. For example, if the bit is 0, it indicates that the link requires bidirectional measurement, that is, both the sending and receiving ends of the link need to be measured. If the bit is 1, it indicates that only unidirectional measurement is required, that is, the destination node can measure the measurement message sent by the source node.

[0145] The third bit indicates whether the node receiving the perception measurement request frame is allowed to proactively increase the measurement frequency for supplementary measurement when a change in the CSI measurement result is found. For example, when this bit is 1, it indicates permission.

[0146] (2) The Opportunistic Measurement Frequency field indicates the number of CSI measurements per second required for each link under opportunistic measurement conditions (i.e., this field carries the first measurement frequency). For example, if this field occupies 10 bits, the maximum number of CSI measurements required per second indicated by this field is 1023. For example, if this field is decimal 10, it indicates that CSI measurements are required 10 times per second.

[0147] (3) The CSI Change Threshold field indicates that when the CSI change exceeds this threshold, a report to the AP or further action is required (i.e., this field carries the CSI change threshold). For example, with an interval of 2%, when this field is decimal 2, it means the CSI change threshold is 4%.

[0148] (4) Active Measurement Frequency indicates the number of times each link needs to measure CSI per second when the measurement frequency is actively increased (i.e., this field carries the second measurement frequency). For example, this field occupies 16 bits, and the maximum number of CSI measurements that can be indicated per second is 65535. For example, a decimal value of 100 indicates that 100 CSI measurements are required per second.

[0149] (5) The reporting interval field indicates the interval between sending a measurement report message when the CSI change amplitude is less than the CSI change threshold (i.e., the first time interval is carried in this field). For example, in seconds, this field occupies 8 bits, and the maximum length of the first time interval is 255 seconds. For example, after the STA sends a measurement report to the AP at time a, it sends a measurement report message to the AP again at time b after a period of time, wherein the CSI change amplitude of the corresponding link between time a and time b does not exceed the CSI change threshold, and the time interval between time b and time a is the first time interval.

[0150] It can be understood that in method 400, STA#1 (i.e., the measurement receiver) needs to report the measurement results to the AP after each CSI measurement, informing the AP of the measurement details so that the AP can determine whether to initiate a supplemental measurement process. However, in this embodiment, based on the reporting interval field and the CSI change threshold field, STA#1 can perform multiple measurements continuously and only provide feedback when the measurement results change, significantly reducing the number of feedback messages. For example, based on method 400, in a monitoring scenario, if CSI measurements are required 10 times per second, then 10 measurement results need to be fed back per second. In this embodiment, if the environment has not changed significantly and STA#1 does not detect a CSI change exceeding the CSI change threshold, it can report no change in the environment at a longer interval (e.g., a first interval of 30 seconds). This shows that the number of feedback messages is reduced by 300 times. In monitoring scenarios, no activity in the environment is the most common condition during monitoring. Optimizing this condition can significantly reduce the interference of perception on data communication in monitoring scenarios.

[0151] (6) The Link Quantity field indicates the number of links included in the subsequent link list. For example, this field occupies 8 bits, indicating a maximum of 255 links.

[0152] (7) The S / AID field indicates the source node identifier of a link, and the D / AID field indicates the destination node identifier of a link (i.e., an S / AID field and a corresponding D / AID field carry information about a link in the measured link information). An AID identifier of all 0s or all 1s can be used to indicate a special node. For example, when the S / AID field is all 0s, it can be used to indicate any source node, and when the S / AID field is all 1s, it can indicate that the source node is an AP.

[0153] S520: The first STA sends a first notification message to the second STA, where the first notification message is used to inform the second STA to initiate a supplementary measurement of the first link. Correspondingly, the second STA receives the first notification message from the first STA and determines that the supplementary measurement needs to be started.

[0154] For example, the first notification message includes timer information and measurement link information, wherein the measurement link information indicates the first link, the timer information indicates a first duration, and the first duration is used to indicate that the second STA initiates a supplementary measurement of the first link after the first duration expires.

[0155] It can be understood that the first duration is a timer duration, and the first duration instructs the second STA to start countdown after obtaining the first duration. When the timer reaches 0, the second STA starts to initiate supplementary measurement of the first link.

[0156] For example, if the frequency of the supplementary measurement is frequency #A, the first duration is determined based on frequency #A. For example, if frequency #A is 100 times per second, the first duration is 0.01 seconds.

[0157] For example, frequency #A is determined based on an actual frequency or a second measurement frequency required for supplementary measurement of the first link, where the second measurement frequency is a reference frequency for supplementary measurement of the first STA.

[0158] S530: The second STA initiates a supplementary measurement of the first link.

[0159] It should be understood that the first STA informs the second STA to initiate supplementary measurement of the first link, that is, to inform the second STA to send a dedicated measurement message for supplementary measurement to the first STA, so that the first STA performs supplementary measurement on link #1 based on the dedicated measurement message from the second STA.

[0160] In one embodiment, if the dedicated message for supplementary measurement is an NDP message, since the second STA needs to send an NDPA message to the first STA before sending the NDP message to the first STA, the second STA initiates a supplementary measurement of the first link, including: the second STA sends an NDPA message to the first STA at an interval of a first time length to inform the first STA that an NDP message is about to be sent, and correspondingly, the first STA receives the NDPA message from the second STA at an interval of the first time length; the second STA sends an NDP message to the first STA after sending the NDPA message, and correspondingly, the first STA receives the NDP message from the second STA after receiving the NDPA message, and performs CSI measurement based on the NDP message to obtain the CSI measurement result.

[0161] It can be understood that the second STA sends an NDP message to the first STA at a short interframe space (SIFS) interval after sending the NDPA message. Since the sending interval between sending the NDPA message and sending the NDP message is fixed, the second STA also sends the NDPA message to the first STA at an interval of the first duration.

[0162] It should be noted that the NDPA described in this application and the NDPA in the accompanying drawings are all sensing NDPAs, and the related parts will not be described in detail later.

[0163] Optionally, the first STA may send a notification message #1 to notify the second STA of successful reception of the supplementary measurement message, or may not send the notification message. For example, when the notification message #1 is not sent, the second STA assumes that the reception is successful and the timer setting (i.e., the first duration) remains unchanged, and the supplementary measurement message is continuously sent at intervals of the first duration.

[0164] It can be seen that in method 400, STA#1 needs to report the measurement results after each measurement and inform the AP of the specific measurement situation, so that the AP can decide whether to initiate a supplementary measurement process. In the above technical solution, the first STA controls the supplementary measurement of the first link. The first STA does not need to send the corresponding CSI measurement results to the AP after each measurement of the second STA's data message, thereby reducing the channel occupancy and further reducing the interference with data communication.

[0165] It should be noted that in the various embodiments of the present application, unless otherwise specified or there is a logical conflict, the terms and / or descriptions between different embodiments are consistent and can be referenced by each other, and the technical features in different embodiments can be combined to form new embodiments according to their internal logical relationships.

[0166] The method 500 is illustrated below with reference to FIG. 7 and FIG. 8 in combination with specific scenarios.

[0167] Figure 7 is a schematic diagram of a method 700 for STA master-controlled supplementary measurement provided by this application. Figure 7 mainly describes the process of the first STA master-controlled supplementary measurement in a scenario where the first STA does not receive a data message from the second STA. The method mainly includes the following steps.

[0168] In S710a, the AP determines that an opportunistic measurement is required for link #1 (an example of the first link). Link #1 is a link with STA #2 (an example of the second STA) as the source node and STA #1 (an example of the first STA) as the destination node. The AP then initiates a measurement setup procedure and sends a perception measurement request message #1 (an example of the first perception measurement request message) to STA #1, notifying STA #1 to participate in the opportunistic measurement of link #1 and informing STA #1 of the relevant parameters for the opportunistic measurement and supplementary measurement.

[0169] S711a, after receiving the sensing measurement request message #1, STA #1 feeds back participation in the opportunistic measurement to the AP via a sensing measurement response (Sensing Measurement Response) message #1.

[0170] S710b, the AP sends a perception measurement request message #2 to STA#2 to notify STA#2 to participate in the opportunistic measurement of link #1, and informs STA#2 of the relevant parameters of the opportunistic measurement and the supplementary measurement.

[0171] S711b, after receiving the perception measurement request message #2, STA#2 feeds back participation in the opportunistic measurement to the AP via the perception measurement response message #2.

[0172] It should be noted that this application does not limit the order of S710a and S710b.

[0173] S712: STA#2, as the measurement transmitter, has no data packets to send. STA#1 has not received any measurement packets after a period of time and determines that a supplementary measurement process needs to be initiated. STA#1 then sends Notification Message #1 (an example of the first Notification Message) to STA#2, informing STA#2 to initiate a supplementary measurement of Link #1. In response, STA#1 receives Notification Message #1 from STA#1.

[0174] For example, notification message #1 includes information of link #1 and timer duration #1 (ie, an example of the first duration).

[0175] Optionally, during this process, STA#1 may enter a sleep state to conserve energy. STA#1 can include its sleep parameters in Notification Message #1. For example, the sleep parameters include the time period during which STA#1 will subsequently enter sleep mode and the time period during which it can receive messages. STA#2 determines the time to send supplemental measurement messages based on STA#1's sleep parameters and its own data transmission and sleep requirements.

[0176] S713. After receiving notification message #1, STA#2 determines that supplementary measurements need to be started. STA#2 counts down after obtaining timer duration #1. When the timer reaches 0, STA#2 sends NDPA#1 to STA#1, informing STA#1 that it is about to send an NDP message for supplementary measurements. Correspondingly, STA#1 receives NDPA#1 from STA#1.

[0177] S714, STA#2 sends NDP message #1 to STA#1. Correspondingly, STA#1 receives NDP message #1 from STA#2 and uses NDP message #1 to perform CSI measurement and obtain CSI measurement results.

[0178] It should be noted that S713 and S714 can repeatedly send NDP messages multiple times according to a given measurement interval (i.e., timer duration #1). For example, in S714, STA#2 starts counting down after sending NDP message #1 to STA#1. When the timer changes from timer duration #1 to 0, STA#2 continues to send NDPA#2 to STA#1. After sending NDPA#2, it continues to send NDP#2 to STA#1.

[0179] S715 , STA# 1 sends a measurement report message # 1 to the AP. The message includes information related to the measurement result of the supplementary measurement link # 1 .

[0180] It can be seen that in the scenario where the supplementary measurement of the link is controlled by the AP in method 400, the process is relatively complicated. In method 400, a supplementary measurement can be completed through the interaction of a total of 5 messages from step 5 to step 9. However, in the present application, the supplementary measurement controlled by the STA only requires the measurement transmitter STA#2 to send two messages, NDPA and NDP, to complete a supplementary measurement. The process is relatively simple, which greatly reduces the number of message interactions for supplementary measurements, reduces channel occupancy, and thus reduces interference with data communications.

[0181] Figure 8 is a schematic diagram of another method 800 for STA-controlled supplemental measurements provided herein. Figure 8 primarily describes the process for STA-controlled supplemental measurements in scenarios where the magnitude of the CSI measurement change exceeds a CSI change threshold, requiring a timely increase in measurement frequency to rapidly acquire fine-grained measurement results and obtain valuable real-time data for subsequent sensing tasks. This method primarily includes the following steps.

[0182] S810a, the AP determines that it is necessary to perform opportunistic measurement on link #1 (i.e., an instance of the first link), where link #1 is a link with STA #2 (i.e., an instance of the second STA) as the source node and STA #1 (i.e., an instance of the first STA) as the destination node. Afterwards, the AP initiates a measurement establishment process and sends a perception measurement request message #1 (i.e., an instance of the first perception measurement request message) to STA #1 to notify STA #1 to participate in the opportunistic measurement of link #1, and informs it of the relevant parameters of the opportunistic measurement and supplementary measurement. At the same time, the AP includes indication information #1 in the perception measurement request message #1, and the indication information #1 indicates that the measurement frequency is allowed to be increased when the change amplitude of the CSI measurement result of link #1 is greater than the CSI change threshold. For example, the indication information #1 can be indicated by the third bit of the measurement type in Figure 6.

[0183] For example, the increased supplementary measurement frequency is determined based on the actual demand for supplementary measurement of the first link or the reference frequency for supplementary measurement configured by the AP for STA#1 (ie, an example of the second measurement frequency).

[0184] S811a, after receiving the perception measurement request message #1, STA#1 feeds back participation in the opportunistic measurement to the AP via the perception measurement response message #1.

[0185] S810b, the AP sends a perception measurement request message #2 to STA#2, and sends a perception measurement request message #2 to STA#2 to notify STA#2 to participate in the opportunistic measurement of link #1, and informs the relevant parameters of the opportunistic measurement and supplementary measurement.

[0186] S811b, after receiving the perception measurement request message #2, STA#2 feeds back participation in the opportunistic measurement to the AP via the perception measurement response message #2.

[0187] It should be noted that this application does not limit the order of S810a and S810b.

[0188] S812, STA#2 sends a data packet to the AP normally. At the same time, STA#1 monitors the data packet sent by STA#2 and performs CSI measurement based on the data packet to obtain the CSI measurement result of link #1.

[0189] It can be understood that in this step, STA#1 performs CSI measurement on the data packet from STA#2 based on the reference frequency (i.e., an example of the first measurement frequency) of link#1 configured by the AP. In other words, S812 needs to be repeated multiple times.

[0190] S813: During the measurement process, STA#1 discovers that the CSI change exceeds the CSI change threshold. Based on indication information #1, STA#1 determines that additional CSI measurements with finer granularity are required. STA#1 then sends notification message #1 (an example of the first notification message) to STA#2, instructing STA#2 to initiate supplementary measurements of link #1. In response, STA#2 receives notification message #1 from STA#1.

[0191] For example, notification message #1 includes information of link #1 and timer duration #1 (ie, an example of the first duration).

[0192] S814. After receiving Notification Message #1, STA#2 determines that supplementary measurements need to be started. STA#2 counts down after obtaining Timer Duration #1. When the timer reaches 0, STA#2 sends NDPA Message #1 to STA#1, informing STA#1 that it is about to send an NDP message for supplementary measurements. In response, STA#1 receives NDPA Message #1 from STA#1.

[0193] S815, STA#2 sends NDP message #1 to STA#1. Correspondingly, STA#1 receives NDP message #1 from STA#2 and uses NDP message #1 to perform CSI measurement and obtain CSI measurement results.

[0194] For other descriptions of S814 and S815, please refer to the description of S714, which will not be repeated here.

[0195] S816. STA#1 sends a measurement report message #1 to the AP, indicating that the CSI of link #1 has changed (for example, indicating that the CSI change amplitude is greater than the CSI change threshold). The measurement report message #1 also includes the fine-grained CSI measurement results measured during the change process.

[0196] Optionally, in this method, after obtaining the CSI result using a measurement message, STA#1 can inform the AP of the measurement result through a measurement report message, or it can jointly compress the CSI measurement results of multiple measurement messages and transmit the CSI measurement results of the multiple measurement messages in one measurement report message.

[0197] Compared with method 400, the advantages of method 800 are: first, in this method, the STA directly initiates the supplementary measurement after discovering the CSI change, which reduces the process of reporting measurements to the AP and can respond to CSI changes at a faster speed, thereby effectively obtaining fine-grained and real-time measurement results for subsequent applications; second, the supplementary measurement process initiated by the STA can send only one notification message, and the subsequent process can complete a supplementary measurement through two messages, NDPA and NDP. Compared with method 400, the number of message exchanges for a single supplementary measurement is significantly reduced, thereby reducing interference with data communications.

[0198] The following describes another sensing method proposed in this application in detail. This method provides a mechanism for STAs to report measurement errors to the AP. This mechanism provides basic reliability for link measurement. When a problem occurs on the measured link, the STA can notify the AP, allowing the AP to reschedule the opportunistic measurement process. This method is described in detail below with reference to Figure 9.

[0199] FIG9 is a schematic flow chart of a perception method 900 provided by the present application. The method 900 includes the following steps.

[0200] S910: A first STA sends a first measurement report message to a first AP, where the first STA is unable to measure a first link, where the first link is a link with a second STA as a source node and the first STA as a destination node. In response, the first AP receives the first measurement report message from the first STA.

[0201] For example, the first measurement report message includes measurement link information and error report information, wherein the measurement link information indicates the first link, and the error report information indicates that the first STA cannot measure the first link.

[0202] For example, the first measurement report message further includes error cause information, where the error cause information indicates a specific reason why the first STA cannot measure the first link. For example, the error cause is no response from the peer end, where the peer end is STA#2.

[0203] Figure 10 is a schematic diagram of a possible frame structure of a measurement report message proposed in this application. The measurement report message can be any measurement report message described in the embodiments of this application. For ease of description, the frame corresponding to the measurement report message shown in Figure 10 is referred to as a measurement report frame. The measurement report frame may include, but is not limited to, the information included in the first measurement report message described above.

[0204] It should be understood that the number of bits occupied by each field in the measurement report frame given in FIG10 is only an example and should not constitute a limitation on the frame structure or frame length of the measurement report frame proposed in this application.

[0205] It should also be understood that the name of the measurement report frame and the names of the fields included in FIG10 are merely examples and should not limit the measurement report frame proposed in this application.

[0206] Optionally, the notification message and measurement report message in all embodiments of the present application may adopt the same frame structure, in which some fields are related to the notification message and some fields are related to the measurement report message.

[0207] As shown in Figure 10, the measurement report frame includes a report type field, an S / AID field, a D / AID field, a measurement timestamp field, an error code field, a retransmission timer setting field, and a power saving information field. Each field is described in detail below.

[0208] (1) The Report Type field occupies 8 bits. Six of these bits have specific meanings, and the remaining two bits are reserved. The following describes the specific meanings of the six bits. This application does not limit the positions of bits 1 through 6 within the 8-bit field.

[0209] The first bit indicates whether it is a normal CSI report (ie, the bit carries error report information). For example, if the bit is 0, it indicates that the CSI report is a normal CSI report; if the bit is 1, it indicates that the CSI report is an error CSI report, for example, the bit is 1 in S910.

[0210] The second bit indicates whether the CSI change amplitude is greater than the CSI change threshold. For example, if the bit is 0, it indicates that the CSI change amplitude is less than the CSI change threshold; if the bit is 1, it indicates that the CSI change amplitude is greater than the CSI change threshold. For example, the bit is 1 in S816.

[0211] The third bit indicates whether the node receiving the message needs to send a measurement message. For example, if the bit is 0, it indicates that the node receiving the message does not need to send a measurement message; for example, if the bit is 1, it indicates that the node receiving the message needs to send a measurement message.

[0212] The fourth bit indicates whether the node receiving the message needs to reset the retransmission timer. For example, if the bit is 0, it indicates that the node receiving the message does not need to reset the retransmission timer; if the bit is 1, it indicates that the node receiving the message needs to reset the retransmission timer.

[0213] The fifth bit indicates whether the message includes a specific CSI measurement result. For example, if the bit is 0, it indicates that the message does not include a specific CSI measurement result; if the bit is 1, it indicates that the message includes a specific CSI measurement result. For example, in S910, the bit is 0.

[0214] The sixth bit indicates whether the message contains the sleep cycle information of the measurement receiving end. For example, if the bit is 0, it indicates that the message does not contain the sleep cycle information; if the bit is 1, it indicates that the message contains the sleep cycle information.

[0215] (2) S / AID and D / AID refer to the description of (7) in Figure 6 and will not be repeated here.

[0216] (3) The measurement timestamp field is used to indicate the corresponding timestamp of the measurement result (i.e., the time point of the last CSI measurement of the link). For example, this field is in milliseconds.

[0217] (4) The error cause field indicates the specific cause of the CSI measurement error (i.e., this field carries the error cause information). For example, this field occupies 4 bits. 0000 indicates no error, 0001 indicates insufficient transmit power at the measured receiving end, 0010 indicates a measurement timer expiration, 0011 indicates insufficient battery or computing power at the measured receiving end, 0100 indicates no response from the peer end, and the remaining codes are reserved.

[0218] (5) The Retransmission Timer Setting field instructs the node receiving the message to reset the timer based on the timer duration indicated by this field (i.e., this field carries the timer information described in S520). For example, in milliseconds, this field occupies 20 bits, and the maximum timer duration is 1048 seconds.

[0219] (6) The sleep period information field indicates that the first 8 bits indicate the duration of sleep from the current time, and the last 8 bits indicate the duration of normal transmission and reception after the end of sleep (i.e., this field carries the sleep parameters described in S712). For example, the duration indicated by this field is in units of 100 milliseconds.

[0220] S920, the first STA receives a second perception measurement request message from the first AP, where the second perception measurement request message is used to request the first STA to perform perception measurement on a second link, where the second link is a link with a third STA as a source node and the first STA as a destination node.

[0221] The second perception measurement request message is similar to the description of the first perception measurement request message in S510 and will not be repeated here.

[0222] This method provides a mechanism for STAs to report errors to the AP, freeing the AP from the task of constantly monitoring the specific measurement processes between STAs. This mechanism supports the autonomous STA measurements provided by other processes in this application and improves the reliability of opportunistic measurements. A possible complete implementation of method 900 is described below.

[0223] FIG11 is a schematic diagram of a perception method 1100 provided by the present application. The method mainly includes the following steps.

[0224] In S1110a, the AP determines that an opportunistic measurement is required for link #1 (an example of the first link). Link #1 is a link with STA #2 (an example of the second STA) as the source node and STA #1 (an example of the first STA) as the destination node. The AP then initiates a measurement setup procedure and sends a perception measurement request message #1 (an example of the first perception measurement request message) to STA #1, notifying STA #1 to participate in the opportunistic measurement of link #1 and informing it of the relevant parameters for the opportunistic measurement and supplementary measurement.

[0225] S1120b, after receiving the perception measurement request message #1, STA #1 sends a perception measurement response message #1 to the AP to feedback participation in the opportunistic measurement.

[0226] S1110b, the AP sends a perception measurement request message #2 to STA#2 to notify STA#2 to participate in the opportunistic measurement of link #1, and informs STA#2 of the relevant parameters of the opportunistic measurement and the supplementary measurement.

[0227] S1120b, after receiving the perception measurement request message #2, STA#2 feeds back participation in the opportunistic measurement to the AP via the perception measurement response message #2.

[0228] It should be noted that this application does not restrict the order of S1110a and S1110b. At S1130, STA#1, as the measurement receiver, does not receive the data packet sent by STA#2. STA#1 triggers the supplementary measurement process and sends Notification Message #1 to STA#2, instructing STA#2 to initiate the supplementary measurement process.

[0229] S1140: STA#2 may fail to initiate supplementary measurements due to reasons such as sleep or leaving the network. STA#1 determines that it cannot measure link #1 and sends a measurement report message #1 to the AP. Measurement report message #1 indicates that the CSI report is an erroneous CSI report and that the error is caused by a lack of response from the peer end. Accordingly, the AP receives measurement report message #1.

[0230] S1150a: Based on the information indicated in Measurement Report Message #1, the AP decides to modify measurement link #1 to measurement link #2. Link #2 is a link with STA #3 (an example of a third STA) as the source node and STA #1 (an example of a first STA) as the destination node. The AP then initiates a measurement establishment procedure and sends Awareness Measurement Request Message #3 (an example of a second Awareness Measurement Request message) to STA #1, notifying STA #1 to participate in the opportunistic measurement of link #2 and informing it of the relevant parameters for the opportunistic and supplementary measurements.

[0231] S1160a , after receiving the perception measurement request message #3 , STA#1 sends a perception measurement response message #3 to the AP to feedback participation in the opportunistic measurement.

[0232] S1150b, the AP sends a perception measurement request message #4 to STA#3 to notify STA#3 to participate in the opportunistic measurement of link #2, and informs STA#3 of the relevant parameters of the opportunistic measurement and the supplementary measurement.

[0233] S1120b, after receiving the perception measurement request message #4, STA #3 feeds back participation in the opportunistic measurement to the AP via the perception measurement response message #4.

[0234] It should be noted that this application does not limit the order of S1150a and S1150b.

[0235] S1170, if STA#3 has a normal data message to send to the AP, STA#1 can correctly monitor the data message from STA#3, and perform CSI measurement based on the data message to obtain a CSI measurement result.

[0236] S1180 , STA# 1 sends a measurement report message # 2 to the AP. Correspondingly, the AP receives the measurement report message # 2 from STA# 1.

[0237] For example, STA#1 determines whether the change amplitude of the measured CSI measurement result is greater than the CSI change threshold. If it is, it reports the current measurement result to the AP. If it is not, there is no need to report for the time being. For the specific time of reporting, please refer to the description of the reporting interval field in Figure 6, which will not be repeated here.

[0238] The following is a detailed introduction to another perception method proposed in this application. In the perception measurement request message shown in Figure 6, the AP may request the STA to measure multiple links. In this method, the STA only needs to measure any link in the link list contained in the perception measurement request message with the STA as the measurement receiving node. This method can give full play to the advantages of opportunistic measurement. For example, the STA can perform perception measurement on a link that can be opportunistically measured, avoiding the occupation of the channel by supplementary measurement. At the same time, this method can also avoid repeated measurements of similar links. The following is a detailed introduction to this method in conjunction with Figure 12.

[0239] FIG12 is a schematic diagram of a sensing method 1200 provided by the present application. The method 1200 includes the following steps.

[0240] S1210. The first AP determines a third perception measurement request message, where the third perception measurement request message is used to request the first STA to perceive and measure any one of N links, where the destination nodes of the N links are all the first STA, and N is a positive integer.

[0241] For example, the third perception measurement request message includes measurement link information and measurement type information, the measurement link information indicates N links, and the measurement type information indicates that the first STA only needs to measure any one link among the N links.

[0242] For the frame structure of the third perception measurement request message, please refer to the description in Figure 6, which will not be repeated here. For example, the first bit in the measurement type field in Figure 6 carries the measurement type information.

[0243] S1220: The first AP sends a third perception measurement request message to the first STA. Correspondingly, the first STA receives the third perception measurement request message from the first AP.

[0244] S1230: The first STA measures one link among the N links.

[0245] For example, the link is the first link, and the first link is a link with the second STA as the source node and the first STA as the destination node. Then, the first STA measures one link among N links, including: the first STA receives a data packet from the second STA based on a first measurement frequency, and the first measurement frequency is a reference frequency for the first STA to measure the opportunity; the first STA performs CSI measurement based on the data packet of the second STA.

[0246] It can be understood that the first STA performs CSI measurement based on the data message of the second STA, which means that the first STA has successfully measured the first link.

[0247] In one possible scenario, the N links that the first AP requests to sense and measure include the second link, where the second link is a link with a third STA as a source node and the first STA as a destination node. If the first STA has successfully measured the first link, the first STA does not need to measure other links. However, since the third STA does not know that the first STA only needs to measure any link with the first STA as a destination node, when the third STA has not sent any data message, the third STA believes that the first STA has no opportunity to measure the second link. The third STA will actively trigger a supplementary measurement. Specifically, the third STA will send a measurement message #1 for the supplementary measurement to the first STA. Correspondingly, the first STA receives the measurement message #1 from the third STA. Since the first STA has successfully measured the first link, the first STA sends a first notification message to the third STA. The first notification message is used to inform the third STA that there is no need to initiate a supplementary measurement of the second link. Correspondingly, the third STA receives the first communication message from the first STA. Thereafter, the third STA stops initiating a supplementary measurement of the second link.

[0248] For example, the frame structure of the first notification message is shown in Figure 10. The first STA can set the third bit in the report type field in Figure 10 to 0, indicating that the node receiving the message (the third STA) does not need to send a measurement message for supplementary measurement to the first STA.

[0249] For example, the first STA can set the 4th bit in the report type field in the report type field in Figure 10 to 1, indicating that the node receiving the message (the third STA) needs to reset the retransmission timer, and set the retransmission timer setting field in the message to all 0s, indicating that the timer length is infinite, that is, the third STA does not need to send a measurement message to the first STA.

[0250] It is understood that during the opportunistic measurement process, each node sends data packets randomly. Under these conditions, this method can significantly increase the probability of successful opportunistic measurement by allowing the first STA to measure any of multiple links, thereby reducing the impact on data communications when using dedicated perception measurement packets for perception measurement. Furthermore, in this method, for a third STA that has no data packets to send, the first STA can suppress subsequent transmission of supplementary measurement messages using a first notification message, thereby reducing the transmission of redundant measurement messages. The following example illustrates a possible complete implementation process of method 1200.

[0251] FIG13 is a schematic diagram of a perception method 1300 provided by the present application. The method mainly includes the following steps.

[0252] In S1310a, the AP determines that opportunistic measurements need to be performed on link #1 (i.e., an example of the first link) and link #2 (i.e., an example of the second link). Link #1 is a link with STA #2 (i.e., an example of the second STA) as the source node and STA #1 (i.e., an example of the first STA) as the destination node, and link #2 is a link with STA #3 (i.e., an example of the third STA) as the source node and STA #1 as the destination node. The AP then initiates a measurement establishment procedure and sends a perception measurement request message #1 (i.e., an example of the third perception measurement request message) to STA #1, notifying STA #1 to participate in opportunistic measurements of link #1 and link #2. The perception measurement request message #1 also indicates that STA #1 is permitted to measure only either link #1 or link #2.

[0253] S1320a, after receiving the perception measurement request message #1, STA #1 feeds back participation in the opportunistic measurement to the AP via the perception measurement response message #1.

[0254] S1310a, the AP sends a perception measurement request message #2 to STA#2 to notify STA#2 to participate in the opportunistic measurement of link #1, and informs STA#2 of the relevant parameters of the opportunistic measurement and the supplementary measurement.

[0255] S1320b, after receiving the perception measurement request message #2, STA#2 feeds back participation in the opportunistic measurement to the AP via the perception measurement response message #1.

[0256] S1310c, the AP sends a perception measurement request message #3 to STA#3 to notify STA#3 to participate in the opportunistic measurement of link #2, and informs STA#3 of the relevant parameters of the opportunistic measurement and the supplementary measurement.

[0257] S1320c: After receiving the perception measurement request message #3, STA #3 feeds back participation in the opportunistic measurement to the AP via a perception measurement response message #3.

[0258] It should be noted that this application does not limit the order of S1310a, S1310b and S1310c.

[0259] S1330: STA#2 has data packets to send to the AP, so STA#2 continues to send data packets to the AP. Meanwhile, STA#1 monitors the data packets from STA#2 and measures the CSI based on the data packets.

[0260] For example, STA#1 determines whether the change amplitude of the measured CSI measurement result is greater than the CSI change threshold. If so, it reports the current measurement result to the AP. If not, it does not need to report temporarily.

[0261] At step S1340, STA#3 does not send a data message. Since STA#3 is unaware that STA#1 only needs to measure one link with STA#1 as the destination node, STA#3 proactively initiates a supplementary measurement of link #2. For example, STA#3 sends NDPA message #1 to STA#1 to inform STA#1 that it is about to send an NDP message for the supplementary measurement.

[0262] S1350, STA#3 sends NDP message #1 to STA#1, and correspondingly, STA#1 receives NDP message #1 from STA#3.

[0263] In step S1360, since STA#1 has already measured link #1, it does not need to measure link #2. Therefore, STA#1 sends notification message #1 to STA#3 to inform STA#3 that it does not need to initiate the supplementary measurement process again. Correspondingly, STA#3 receives notification message #1 from STA#1 and no longer initiates the supplementary measurement of link #2.

[0264] S1370, STA#2 continues to send data packets, STA#1 monitors the data packets sent by STA#2, performs CSI measurement based on the data packets, obtains CSI measurement results, and sends measurement report message #1 to the AP based on the measurement results.

[0265] For example, if the change amplitude of the CSI measurement result corresponding to link #1 is always no greater than the CSI change threshold within a period of time, then after a reporting interval (for example, the first time interval in S510) has passed since the last measurement report #1 was sent to the AP, STA #1 notifies the AP through measurement report message #1 that the CSI change amplitude in link #1 is less than the CSI change threshold.

[0266] This method utilizes the opportunistic measurement multiple-choice method, giving full play to the advantages of opportunistic measurement. Compared with the current opportunistic measurement scheme that requires fixed link transmitters and receivers, it avoids repeated measurements of similar links and reduces redundant measurement messages.

[0267] Typical scenarios for the proposed solution include security monitoring and motion recognition. In such scenarios, if environmental changes are minimal—that is, in most cases, surrounding objects do not move—the CSI of the corresponding link does not change. In this case, to promptly detect changes in the surrounding environment, the AP may need to monitor the link between STAs. This is primarily because the link between STAs is more likely to be affected by the surrounding environment. For monitoring tasks, the link CSI is generally measured at frequent intervals and compared with the link's historical CSI. For example, if the monitoring task needs to detect environmental changes within 100 milliseconds, CSI measurements may need to be performed 10 times per second. However, since environmental changes are rare in monitoring tasks, CSI changes only occur when there is intrusion or target motion. Therefore, to conserve measurement reporting resources, STAs generally do not need to report when the CSI remains unchanged. That is, STAs can wait a longer period (e.g., 30 seconds) between measured CSI values to report that the CSI has not changed to the AP. Therefore, in monitoring tasks implemented using opportunistic measurement, if the environment remains unchanged, the STA and AP can communicate at longer intervals. In this case, the system primarily uses opportunistic measurements, leveraging data packets normally transmitted in the measurement network to acquire CSI. The perception and monitoring task requires only a limited number of dedicated messages (i.e., only every 30 seconds). Therefore, this solution significantly reduces the overhead of over-the-air data transmission resources used by the perception and monitoring task. Furthermore, because the CSI measurement node measures and compares CSI at a high rate (e.g., 10 times per second), it can quickly detect changes in the environment. When CSI changes, indicating an action, the AP is immediately notified and the next action, such as increasing the number of measurements, is taken. This rapid response effectively captures environmental changes, laying the foundation for low-latency detection for subsequent intrusion alerts and action recognition.
