Abstract
Description
A data reporting method and related device
[0001] This application claims priority to the Chinese patent application filed with the State Intellectual Property Office of China on November 3, 2023, with application number 202311468705.1, and priority to the Chinese patent application entitled “A data reporting method and related device”, all contents of which are incorporated by reference into this application. Technical Field
[0002] The present application relates to the field of communication network technology, and in particular to a data reporting method and related devices. Background Art
[0003] In the communications field, when a user equipment (UE) has data to send, it needs to report the amount of data in its buffer to the network via a buffer status report (BSR). The network then allocates uplink transmission resources to the UE based on this information. Currently, four main types of BSR reporting are used: short BSR, short truncated BSR, long BSR, and long truncated BSR. With the development of communication systems and the emergence of new service scenarios, the amount of data that UEs need to report is also increasing. How to properly report BSRs is currently a pressing issue.
[0004] Summary of the Invention
[0005] The embodiment of the present application provides a data reporting method and related devices, which can reasonably utilize uplink transmission resources to report BSR and realize refined scheduling of network resources.
[0006] In a first aspect, an embodiment of the present application provides a data reporting method, applied to a terminal device or a chip in the terminal device, the method comprising:
[0007] Determine the medium access control MAC control element CE format based on the configuration information; the configuration information is used to instruct the terminal device to report the amount of data in the logical channel group LCG through the parameters in the first BS table;
[0008] Generate a cache status information report corresponding to the MAC CE format for reporting.
[0009] It can be seen that in the embodiment of the present application, the terminal device can determine the corresponding MAC CE format based on the configuration information. The MAC CE format can be a traditional MAC CE format or a newly defined MAC CE format. The newly defined MAC CE format can use the index in the first BS table to report the amount of cached data. Since the index in the first BS table is divided more finely, the terminal device can achieve finer-grained BSR reporting, and reporting BSR is more reasonable.
[0010] In a possible implementation, the buffer status information report includes a buffer status report BSR; and determining a medium access control MAC element CE format based on the configuration information includes:
[0011] If the terminal device has an LCG that needs to report the first data volume, the MAC CE format is determined to be the first format based on the configuration information; the BSRMAC CE corresponding to the first format includes a first indication field and a second indication field; the first indication field is used to indicate the first data volume corresponding to the LCG; the second indication field is used to indicate that the information in the first indication field is represented by parameters in the first BS table or by parameters in the second BS table.
[0012] In this implementation, the terminal device can select the first format for BSR reporting based on the configuration information. In the first format, the index in the first BS table can be used to indicate the amount of data in bufferSize, or the index in the second BS table can be used to indicate the amount of data in bufferSize, making the method of reporting data amount relatively flexible. Furthermore, when the index in the first BS table is used to indicate the amount of data in bufferSize in the first format, both the new BS table and the new MAC CE format are used, which is conducive to more fine-grained data amount reporting and more reasonable reporting.
[0013] In a possible implementation, the buffer status information report includes a buffer status report BSR; and determining a medium access control MAC element CE format based on the configuration information includes:
[0014] If the terminal device has only one LCG that needs to report the first data volume, the MAC CE format is determined to be the second format based on the configuration information; the BSR MAC CE corresponding to the second format includes a first indication field; the first indication field is used to indicate the first data volume corresponding to the LCG, and the information in the first indication field is represented by the parameters in the first BS table.
[0015] In this implementation, a new MAC CE format is introduced. The terminal device can select the second format to report the BSR based on the configuration information. The second format uses the index in the first BS table to indicate the amount of data in the bufferSize, which is conducive to achieving finer-grained data volume reporting. At the same time, compared with the existing MAC CE format, the new MAC CE format uses a fixed length of two bytes, which can save the overhead of data volume reporting, thereby improving the gain of reporting the BSR.
[0016] In a possible implementation manner, the MAC subheader of the BSR MAC CE corresponding to the second format includes a third indication field; the third indication field is used to indicate that the BSR MAC CE is a BSR MAC CE of the second format type.
[0017] In this implementation, the terminal device may define a new LCID or eLCID in the outer MAC subheader of the BSR MAC CE corresponding to the second format to indicate that the subsequent MAC CE is in the second format.
[0018] In a possible implementation, the first format includes an enhanced BSR format or an enhanced long BSR format.
[0019] In this implementation, the first format may be an enhanced BSR format or an enhanced long BSR format, so that the parameters in the first BS table or the second BS table may be flexibly used to report the BSR.
[0020] In one possible implementation, the second format includes an enhanced short BSR format or an enhanced truncated BSR format.
[0021] In this implementation, the second format may be an enhanced short BSR format or an enhanced truncated BSR format, so that the parameters in the first BS table may be used to report the BSR, thereby achieving finer-grained BSR reporting and saving reporting overhead, which is more reasonable.
[0022] In a possible implementation, the BSR is a regular BSR or a periodic BSR.
[0023] In one possible implementation, the cache status information report includes a delay status report DSR; the DSR MAC CE corresponding to the MAC CE format includes a fourth indication field and a fifth indication field; the fourth indication field is used to indicate the second data volume to be reported by the corresponding LCG; the fifth indication field is used to indicate the remaining time until the data corresponding to the second data volume expires.
[0024] In this implementation, when a terminal device reports the volume of emergency data, it can select parameters in the new BS table based on configuration information to report the data volume. Furthermore, it can choose new MACCE formats, such as the enhanced BSR format, enhanced long BSR format, enhanced short BSR format, or enhanced truncated BSR format, for DSR reporting. This enables more reasonable and fine-grained data volume reporting. Of course, the terminal device can also select the traditional MACCE format for DSR reporting, making the reporting method relatively flexible.
[0025] In a possible implementation, the data corresponding to the second data volume includes data corresponding to a service data unit SDU that a packet data convergence protocol PDCP layer instructs a radio link control RLC layer to delete; the PDCP layer instructs the RLC layer to delete the SDU when a discard timer of data corresponding to the SDU expires;
[0026] Among them, if the data corresponding to the SDU or at least one segment of the SDU has been delivered to the lower layer, the remaining time until the data corresponding to the SDU or at least one segment of the SDU is 0; or the remaining time until the data corresponding to the SDU or at least one segment of the SDU is the minimum value of the remaining time until the expiration of at least one target data, wherein the at least one target data is the data corresponding to the second data volume except the SDU or at least one segment of the SDU; or the data volume of the data corresponding to the SDU or at least one segment of the SDU is reported through the BSR.
[0027] In this implementation, for data corresponding to an SDU that the PDCP layer instructs the RLC layer to delete due to expiration of a discard timer, the terminal device can still use the DSR to report the data volume and set the remaining time until expiration for this type of data so that this type of data can be processed normally and sent to the network side, thereby helping to ensure that emergency data is not discarded and thus ensuring data integrity. Optionally, the terminal device can also report data corresponding to the SDU or at least one segment of the SDU through the BSR to ensure that it is not discarded.
[0028] In a second aspect, an embodiment of the present application provides a data reporting method, which is applied to a terminal device or a chip in the terminal device, and the method includes:
[0029] Determine the medium access control MAC control element CE format based on the number of padding bits and configuration information; the configuration information is used to instruct the terminal device to report the amount of data in the logical channel group LCG through the parameters in the first BS table;
[0030] Generate a cache status information report corresponding to the MAC CE format for reporting.
[0031] It can be seen that in the embodiment of the present application, the terminal device can determine the corresponding MAC CE format based on the number of padding bits and configuration information.
[0032] In a possible implementation, the buffer status information report includes a buffer status report BSR; and determining a medium access control MAC element CE format based on the number of padding bits and configuration information includes:
[0033] If the terminal device has an LCG that needs to report the first data volume, and the number of padding bits is greater than or equal to the sum of the size of the BSR MAC CE corresponding to the first format and the size of the MAC subheader of the BSR MAC CE corresponding to the first format, the MAC CE format is determined to be the first format based on the configuration information; the BSR MAC CE corresponding to the first format includes a first indication field and a second indication field; the first indication field is used to indicate the first data volume that the corresponding LCG needs to report; the second indication field is used to indicate that the information in the first indication field is represented by parameters in the first BS table or by parameters in the second BS table.
[0034] In this implementation, the terminal device compares the number of padding bits with the size of the BSR MAC CE corresponding to the first format and can select the first format for BSR reporting. In the first format, either the index in the first BS table or the index in the second BS table can be used to indicate the amount of data in bufferSize, making the method of reporting data volume relatively flexible. Furthermore, when the index in the first BS table is used to indicate the amount of data in bufferSize in the first format, both the new BS table and the new MAC CE format are used, which facilitates more fine-grained data volume reporting and makes reporting more reasonable.
[0035] In a possible implementation, the buffer status information report includes a buffer status report BSR; and determining a medium access control MAC element CE format based on the number of padding bits and configuration information includes:
[0036] If the terminal device has multiple LCGs that need to report the first data volume, the number of padding bits is greater than or equal to the sum of three bytes and the size of the MAC subheader of the BSR MAC CE corresponding to the first format, and is less than the sum of the size of the BSR MAC CE corresponding to the first format and the size of the MAC subheader of the BSR MAC CE corresponding to the first format, then the MAC CE format is determined to be the third format based on the configuration information; wherein the third format is a truncated type of the first format.
[0037] In this implementation, when the number of padding bits is greater than or equal to the sum of three bytes and the size of the MAC subheader of the BSR MAC CE corresponding to the first format, and is less than the sum of the size of the BSR MAC CE corresponding to the first format and the size of the MAC subheader of the BSR MAC CE corresponding to the first format, the terminal device can use the truncation type of the first format (i.e., the third format) to report the data volume. In the third format, the index in the first BS table can be used to indicate the data volume in bufferSize, or the index in the second BS table can be used to indicate the data volume in bufferSize. The method of reporting the data volume is relatively flexible. Moreover, when the index in the first BS table is used to indicate the data volume in bufferSize in the third format, both the new BS table and the new MAC CE format are used, which is conducive to achieving more fine-grained data volume reporting and more reasonable reporting.
[0038] In a possible implementation, the buffer status information report includes a buffer status report BSR; and determining a medium access control element MAC control element CE format based on the number of padding bits and configuration information includes:
[0039] If the terminal device has multiple LCGs that need to report the first data volume, and the number of padding bits is greater than or equal to the sum of two bytes and the size of the MAC subheader of the long BSR MAC CE, and less than three bytes and the sum of the size of the MAC subheader of the BSR MAC CE corresponding to the first format, then the MAC CE format is determined to be the long truncated BSR format based on the configuration information.
[0040] In this implementation, when the number of padding bits is greater than or equal to the sum of two bytes and the size of the MAC subheader of the long BSR MAC CE, and less than three bytes and the size of the MAC subheader of the BSR MAC CE corresponding to the first format, and there are multiple LCGs with data to be sent, the terminal device can use the long truncated BSR format to report the data volume, and can report the cache status of as many LCGs as possible.
[0041] In a possible implementation, the buffer status information report includes a buffer status report BSR; and determining a medium access control MAC element CE format based on the number of padding bits and configuration information includes:
[0042] If the number of padding bits is less than the sum of two bytes and the size of the MAC subheader of the long BSR MAC CE, and the terminal device has multiple LCGs that need to report the first data amount, determine, based on the configuration information, that the MAC CE format is a truncated BSR format;
[0043] If the number of padding bits is less than the sum of two bytes and the size of the MAC subheader of the long BSR MAC CE, and the terminal device has one LCG to report the first data volume, the MAC CE format is determined to be the short BSR format based on the configuration information.
[0044] In this implementation, when the number of padding bits is less than the sum of two bytes and the size of the MAC subheader of the long BSR MAC CE, the terminal device can determine whether to use the truncated BSR format or the short BSR format based on the number of LCGs to report data.
[0045] In a possible implementation, the first format includes an enhanced BSR format or an enhanced long BSR format.
[0046] In this implementation, the first format may be an enhanced BSR format or an enhanced long BSR format, so that the parameters in the first BS table or the second BS table may be flexibly used to report the BSR.
[0047] In one possible implementation, the cache status information report includes a delay status report DSR; the DSR MAC CE corresponding to the MAC CE format includes a fourth indication field and a fifth indication field; the fourth indication field is used to indicate the second data volume to be reported by the corresponding LCG; the fifth indication field is used to indicate the remaining time until the data corresponding to the second data volume expires.
[0048] In this implementation, when a terminal device reports the volume of emergency data, it can select parameters in the new BS table based on the configuration information to report the data volume. Furthermore, it can choose a new MACCE format for DSR reporting, such as the enhanced BSR format, enhanced long BSR format, enhanced truncated BSR format, or enhanced long truncated BSR format. This enables more reasonable and fine-grained data volume reporting. Of course, the terminal device can also select the traditional MACCE format for DSR reporting, making the reporting method relatively flexible.
[0049] In a possible implementation, the data corresponding to the second data volume includes data corresponding to a service data unit SDU that a packet data convergence protocol PDCP layer instructs a radio link control RLC layer to delete; the PDCP layer instructs the RLC layer to delete the SDU when a discard timer of data corresponding to the SDU expires;
[0050] Among them, if the data corresponding to the SDU or at least one segment of the SDU has been delivered to the lower layer, the remaining time until the data corresponding to the SDU or at least one segment of the SDU is 0; or the remaining time until the data corresponding to the SDU or at least one segment of the SDU is the minimum value of the remaining time until the expiration of at least one target data, wherein the at least one target data is the data corresponding to the second data volume except the SDU or at least one segment of the SDU; or the data volume of the data corresponding to the SDU or at least one segment of the SDU is reported through the buffer status report BSR.
[0051] In this implementation, for data corresponding to an SDU that the PDCP layer instructs the RLC layer to delete due to expiration of a discard timer, the terminal device can still use the DSR to report the data volume and set the remaining time until expiration for this type of data so that this type of data can be processed normally and sent to the network side, thereby helping to ensure that emergency data is not discarded and thus ensuring data integrity. Optionally, the terminal device can also report data corresponding to the SDU or at least one segment of the SDU through the BSR to ensure that it is not discarded.
[0052] In a third aspect, an embodiment of the present application provides a data reporting device, which is applied to a transmitting device or a chip in the transmitting device, and includes a processing unit; the processing unit is configured to:
[0053] Determine the medium access control MAC control element CE format based on the configuration information; the configuration information is used to instruct the terminal device to report the amount of data in the logical channel group LCG through the parameters in the first BS table;

[0055] In a possible implementation, the buffer status information report includes a buffer status report BSR; and in determining a medium access control MAC element CE format based on the configuration information, the processing unit is specifically configured to:

By way of illustration, both an application running on a terminal device and a terminal device can be a component. One or more components can reside in a process and / or an execution thread, and a component can be located on a computer and / or distributed between two or more computers. In addition, these components can be executed from various computer-readable media having various data structures stored thereon. Components can communicate, for example, through local and / or remote processes based on signals having one or more data packets (e.g., data from two components interacting with another component between a local system, a distributed system and / or a network, such as the Internet interacting with other systems via signals).
[0110] First, a brief introduction to the relevant terms and related technical background in this application is given to facilitate understanding by those skilled in the art.
[0111] (1)LCG: Logical channel group;
[0112] (2) BSR: The UE reports the amount of data in each LCG to the network;
[0113] (3)DSR: Delay status report, where the UE reports to the network how much urgent data is in each LCG and how long it will take for this data to expire;
[0114] (4) LCID: Logical channel ID, used to identify the type of the following Media Access Control (MAC) Control Element (CE);
[0115] (5) eLCID: extended LCID, extended logical channel identifier;
[0116] (6) XR: Extended Reality, a general term for virtual reality (VR) technology, augmented reality (AR) technology, etc.
[0117] It should be understood that when the UE reports the amount of data, the BSR used currently has two formats and four types as shown in Figures 1 and 2. Figure 1 shows the format corresponding to the short BSR and the truncated BSR, which includes the logical channel group identifier (LCG ID) indication field and the buffer data amount (buffer Size) indication field. Figure 2 shows the format corresponding to the long BSR and the truncated BSR. In this format, the LCG ID is placed in the first byte, followed by the buffer size corresponding to each LCG. The difference between the two formats shown in Figures 1 and 2 lies mainly in the buffer size field. The former occupies 5 bits and the latter occupies 8 bits. This is actually related to the buffer status table (BS table) used. When the UE reports the amount of data, it needs to use the data amount to look up the BS table and fill in the corresponding index field in the BS table in the buffer size field. There are currently two BS tables, one of which is shown in Table 1, with a total of 2 5 =32 indexes:
[0118] Table 1
[0119] Another table is shown in Table 2, which has 2 8 =256 indexes:
[0120] Table 2
[0121] The selection rules for the current four BSR formats are as follows:
[0122] For regular BSR or periodic BSR:
[0123] For padding BSR:
[0124] In the study of XR business scenarios, an 8-bit BS table was introduced. Compared with the table shown in Table 2, the value range of the new table is different. Specifically, its value range may be smaller, and the range indicated by each index in the new BS table is finer. Then when there are old BS tables and new BS tables, there will be such a problem. For example, the range indicated by index 1 in the old BS table may be 1 to 100, while the range indicated by index 1 in the new BS table is 1 to 10. The base station receives index 1 from the UE, but does not know whether index 1 is taken from the old BS table or the new BS table. To solve this problem, a new MAC CE was introduced in the XR study. Its format is shown in Figure 3. The MAC CE shown in Figure 3 is similar to the format shown in Figure 2, with the difference that there is an extra byte of "BT i " field, which indicates whether the corresponding bufferSize i uses the index in the new BS table or the index in the old BS table. If the amount of buffered data in the UE can be represented by the index in the new BS table, the new BS table is used. Only when the amount of buffered data in the UE cannot be represented by the new BS table will the old BS table be used. Whether the UE can use the new BS table depends on the network configuration for each LCG.
[0125] Based on the existing BSR selection rules and two BS tables, new problems arise:
[0126] First, when to use the MAC CE format shown in Figure 3? Some researchers have proposed that the UE should use the MAC CE format shown in Figure 3 when at least one LCG configured by the network can use the new BS table, and this LCG has data to transmit, and the amount of data to be transmitted falls within the range of the new BS table. This implies that if the UE has no data to transmit in any LCG that can use the new BS table, or if there is data to transmit but the new BS table does not cover it and the old BS table is the only option, the UE must still use the traditional MAC CE format.
[0127] Second, in the existing Regular / Periodic BSR format selection rules, when the UE has only one LCG with data to report, the short BSR is used. This means that if the UE has only one LCG with data, the UE cannot use the new BS table to report the data of this LCG. If you want the UE to use the new BS table to report the data volume of this LCG, how should you select it?
[0128] Third, in the existing padding / regular / periodic BSR format selection rules, the MAC CE format shown in Figure 3 is not used for reporting. How can we choose between the traditional MAC CE format and the MAC CE format shown in Figure 3 to achieve reasonable BSR reporting?
[0129] To address the deficiencies in the related art, the present application provides a data reporting method that can be applied to the fifth generation mobile communication technology (5G) and the subsequent sixth generation mobile communication technology (6G), and can be specifically implemented based on the system architecture shown in Figure 4. As shown in Figure 4, the system architecture includes network devices and terminal devices. Exemplarily, the terminal device can be referred to as a terminal, which can be a device with wireless transceiver capabilities. The terminal device can be a UE, where the UE includes but is not limited to a handheld device, a vehicle-mounted device, or a wearable device with wireless communication capabilities. Exemplarily, the UE can be a mobile phone, a tablet computer, or a computer with wireless transceiver capabilities. The terminal device can also be a virtual reality (VR) terminal device, an augmented reality (AR) terminal device, a wireless terminal in unmanned driving, a wireless terminal in telemedicine, a wireless terminal in a smart grid, a wireless terminal in a smart city, a wireless terminal in a smart home, and the like. In the embodiments of the present application, a terminal device may be a device for implementing a terminal function; or a device capable of supporting the terminal in implementing the function, such as a chip system, which may be installed in the terminal. In the embodiments of the present application, a chip system may be composed of a chip or may include a chip and other discrete devices.
[0130] Exemplarily, the network device includes a base station (BS), which can be a device deployed in a wireless access network that can communicate wirelessly with a terminal device. In the embodiment of the present application, the device for realizing the function of the network device can be a network device; it can also be a device that can support the network device to realize the function, such as a chip system, which can be installed in the network device. [0131] Optionally, in some deployments of network devices, the network device may be a centralized unit (CU) and a distributed unit (DU), etc. For example, operations or steps of the radio link control (RLC) layer, the media access control (MAC) layer, and the radio resource control (RRC) layer may be performed by the CU, and operations or steps of the physical (PHY) layer may be performed by the DU. In other deployments of network devices, the CU may be further divided into a CU-control plane (CP) and a CU-user plane (UP), etc. In still other deployments of network devices, the network device may be an antenna unit (RU). In still other deployments of network devices, the network device may be an open radio access network (ORAN) architecture, etc. The embodiments of the present application do not limit the deployment method of the network device. For example, when the network device is an ORAN architecture, the network device shown in the embodiments of the present application may be an access network device in the ORAN, or a module in the access network device, etc. In the ORAN architecture, CU can also be called open (O)-CU, DU can also be called O-DU, CU-CP can also be called O-CU-CP, CU-UP can also be called O-CU-UP, and RU can also be called O-RU.
[0132] The technical solution provided in this application is introduced in detail below in conjunction with specific implementation methods.
[0133] Please refer to Figure 5, which is a flow chart of a data reporting method provided in an embodiment of the present application. The method can be implemented based on the architecture shown in Figure 4. As shown in Figure 5, the method includes steps 501-502:
[0134] 501: The terminal device determines the MACCE format based on the configuration information.
[0135] In an embodiment of the present application, the configuration information is used to indicate that the terminal device can report the amount of data in the LCG using the parameters in the first BS table. The first BS table is a newly proposed BS table (i.e., an 8-bit new BS table). Optionally, the configuration information can be used to indicate that the amount of data in at least one LCG of the terminal device can be reported using the parameters in the first BSR table. Optionally, the at least one LCG can be one or more. Optionally, there should be data to be sent in the at least one LCG. Optionally, the amount of data in the LCG to which data needs to be sent is within the range of the first BS table. Optionally, there can be one or more LCGs in the at least one LCG to which data needs to be sent. The contents indicated by the above configuration information can be reasonably combined in the specific selection logic. For example, the configuration information can be used to indicate that the amount of data in at least one LCG of the terminal device can be reported using the parameters in the first BSR table, and that the parameters in the first BSR table can be used to report that there is data to be sent in the LCG, and the amount of data to be sent is within the range of the first BS table. For example, the configuration information can be used to indicate that the amount of data in at least one LCG of the terminal device can be reported using the parameters in the first BSR table, even if the LCG to which data needs to be sent is not within the range of the at least one LCG, etc. In the embodiment of the present application, when the MAC CE format is a truncated MAC CE format, the configuration information is used to indicate that the terminal device can report the amount of data in the LCG using the parameters in the first BS table. It can be understood that if there are multiple LCGs in the terminal device that need to report the amount of data, but only some of the LCGs can use the truncated MAC CE to report the amount of data, then at least one LCG among the LCGs selected to report the amount of data using the truncated MAC CE is indicated by the network as being able to report the amount of data in the LCG using the parameters in the first BS table. Further, optionally, the amount of data in the LCG is within the range of the first BS table.
[0136] Exemplarily, the amount of data to be reported in the LCG of the terminal device may include a first amount of data or a second amount of data. The first amount of data refers to the amount of data reported using BSR, that is, the amount of data corresponding to regular data. The triggered BSR may be RegularBSR, periodic BSR, or padding BSR. The second amount of data refers to the amount of data reported using DSR, that is, the amount of data corresponding to emergency data. In other words, the second amount of data means that the remaining time from expiration of the data is within a time range, and the time range is composed of 1 or 2 time thresholds. If the time range is composed of 1 time threshold, the remaining time from expiration of the second amount of data is less than or equal to the time threshold. If the time range is composed of two time thresholds, for example: T1 and T2, and T1>T2, the remaining time from expiration of the second amount of data should be greater than or equal to T2, and less than or equal to T1. Alternatively, the second data amount may be a data amount including data corresponding to a service data unit (SDU) or a portion of the SDU that the Packet Data Convergence Protocol (PDCP) layer instructs the RLC layer to delete, wherein the SDU or the portion of the SDU has been delivered to a lower layer. Alternatively, the second data amount may also be understood as a data amount including data corresponding to an SDU or a portion of the SDU that the PDCP layer instructs the RLC layer to delete due to expiration of an associated PDCP discard timer.
[0137] Exemplarily, if the terminal device has an LCG (including one or more) that needs to report a first amount of data, the MAC CE format is determined to be the first format based on the configuration information. The first format refers to the MAC CE format shown in Figure 3. As shown in Figure 3, the BSRMAC CE corresponding to the first format includes an LCG ID indication field, and the LCG ID indication field is used to indicate the identifier of the LCG that needs to report the first amount of data. The BSRMAC CE corresponding to the first format also includes a first indication field and a second indication field. The first indication field is used to indicate the first data amount corresponding to the LCG, that is, the bufferSize field; the second indication field is used to indicate whether the information in the first indication field is represented by a parameter (i.e., index) in the first BS table or by a parameter (i.e., index) in the second BS table, that is, "BT i " field. For example, BT1=1 indicates that the parameter in bufferSize corresponding to LCG1 uses the index in the first BS table. The second BS table is an old BS table, and the range indicated by the index in the first BS table is different from the range indicated by the index in the second BS table, that is, the range is finer-grained than the range indicated by the index in the second BS table.
[0138] Exemplarily, the first format includes an enhanced BSR format or an enhanced long BSR format, or may also be referred to as an extended BSR format, an extended long BSR format, an extended BSR format, an extended long BSR format, etc. It may be embodied in the standard text as follows:
[0139] In this implementation, the terminal device can select the first format for BSR reporting based on the configuration information.
[0140] Exemplarily, if the terminal device has only one LCG that needs to report the first data volume, the MAC CE format is determined to be the second format based on the configuration information; the BSR MAC CE corresponding to the second format includes a first indication field; the first indication field is used to indicate the first data volume corresponding to the LCG, and the information in the first indication field can be represented using parameters in the first BS table. Exemplarily, the second format can be any of the MAC CE formats shown in Figures 6-8A. Any of the MAC CE formats shown in Figures 6-8A uses two bytes. In the MAC CE format shown in Figure 6, the first byte indicates the LCG ID, and the second byte indicates the first data volume corresponding to the LCG, and is represented by an index in the new BS table. In the MAC CE format shown in Figure 7, the first byte indicates the LCG ID and the reserved bit R (reserved), and the second byte indicates the first data volume corresponding to the LCG, and is represented by an index in the new BS table. The MAC CE format shown in Figure 8A also indicates the LCG ID and the reserved bit R in the first byte, and the second byte indicates the first data volume corresponding to the LCG, and is represented by an index in the new BS table. Optionally, the BSR MAC CE corresponding to the second format may further include a second indication field, namely, a "BT" field. For example: add a "BT" field to any of the MAC CE formats shown in Figures 6 to 8A, for example, the "BT" field after the LCG ID in Figure 8B. Optionally, the information in the first indication field may be represented by parameters in the first BS table or by parameters in the second BS table. In the case where the BSR MAC CE corresponding to the second format includes a second indication field, the second indication field is used to indicate whether the information in the first indication field is represented by parameters in the first BS table or by parameters in the second BS table.
[0141] Exemplarily, the MAC subheader of the BSR MAC CE corresponding to the second format includes a third indication field; the third indication field is used to indicate that the BSR MAC CE is a BSR MAC CE of the second format type. The third indication field may be an LCID or an eLCID. Optionally, a new LCID or eLCID is defined in the outer MAC subheader of the BSR MAC CE corresponding to the second format to indicate that the subsequent MAC CE is in the second format. Exemplarily, the second format includes an enhanced short BSR format or an enhanced truncated BSR format. Alternatively, it may be referred to as an extended short BSR format, an extended truncated BSR format, an extended short BSR format, an extended truncated BSR format, and so on. It may be reflected in the standard text as follows:
[0142] The LCID or eLCID can be represented by the parameters in Table 3 (e.g., index):
[0143] Table 3
[0144] It should be noted that Table 3 is only an example and does not limit the LCID or eLCID in the embodiments of the present application.
[0145] In this implementation, a new MAC CE format is introduced.
[0146] Exemplarily, if the terminal device has an LCG that needs to report the second data volume, the MACCE format can also be determined based on the configuration information. Among them, the DSR MAC CE corresponding to the MAC CE format includes a fourth indication field and a fifth indication field; the fourth indication field is used to indicate the second data volume that the corresponding LCG needs to report; the fifth indication field is used to indicate the remaining time from expiration of the data corresponding to the second data volume. For example: the fourth indication field can be a bufferSize field. Exemplarily, as shown in Figure 9, if the terminal device has 1 LCG that needs to report the second data volume, the MACCE format can be to add the remaining time from expiration of the data corresponding to the second data volume after each bufferSize in the second format. That is to say, the fifth indication field can be the remaining time field of the urgent data cached in the corresponding LCG, and the remaining time field is used to indicate the remaining time from expiration of the data. Exemplarily, as shown in Figure 10, if the terminal device has multiple LCGs that need to report the second data volume, the MACCE format can be to add the remaining time from expiration of the data corresponding to the second data volume after each bufferSize in the first format. Exemplarily, the MACCE format may also be obtained by adding the remaining time until the data corresponding to the second data amount expires after each bufferSize in the short BSR format or the long BSR format, and so on.
[0147] In this implementation, when a terminal device reports the volume of emergency data, it can select parameters in the new BS table based on configuration information to report the data volume.
[0148] It should be understood that the remaining time until the expiration of the data corresponding to the second data volume refers to the value of the PDCP discard timer corresponding to the data at the PDCP layer. As shown in Figure 11, when the PDCP layer receives a data packet from the upper layer, the PDCP layer will start a timer for the data packet. The initial value of this timer (for example, 30ms) is deducted from the delay budget of the message. When it is deducted to 0, it means that the data message has expired. The PDCP layer will clear the data message from the cache and indicate it to the lower RLC layer. The data message may already be being processed at the RLC layer. After receiving the packet loss indication from the PDCP layer, the RLC layer will usually delete the protocol data unit (PDU) corresponding to the data packet at the RLC layer. The PDU is an SDU relative to the RLC layer. However, in RLC acknowledged mode (AM) and RLC unacknowledged mode (UM), even if the PDCP layer indicates packet loss to the RLC layer, the RLC layer cannot delete or discard the corresponding SDU. For example: in the RLC AM mode retransmission scenario, the corresponding SDU has been passed to the lower layer; in the RLC UM mode segmentation scenario, at least one segment of the corresponding SDU has been delivered to the lower layer. In these scenarios, the terminal device still needs to use the determined MAC CE format to generate the DSR of the data corresponding to the SDU and report the data volume corresponding to the SDU, that is, the data corresponding to the second data volume reported by the terminal device should include the data corresponding to the SDU that the PDCP layer instructed the RLC layer to delete. When performing DSR reporting, if the data corresponding to the SDU or at least one segment of the SDU has been submitted to the lower layer, the terminal device can set the remaining time of the fifth indication field to 0 in the DSR MAC CE corresponding to the determined MAC CE format; or, the terminal device can select the minimum value from the remaining time until expiration of at least one target data, and set the fifth indication field to the minimum value in the DSR MAC CE corresponding to the determined MAC CE format. The at least one target data is the data corresponding to the second data volume other than the SDU or at least one segment of the SDU. For example: in addition to the SDU indicated by the PDCP layer for deletion, the terminal device also needs to report the data volume corresponding to SDU1 and SDU2. Then, a minimum value can be selected from the remaining time until expiration of the data corresponding to SDU1 and SDU2 (for example: the remaining time until expiration of the data corresponding to SDU1 is the smallest and is 3ms). Then, the remaining time until expiration of the data corresponding to the SDU indicated by the PDCP layer for packet loss in the RLC layer is set to 3ms.Exemplarily, the terminal device may also report the amount of data corresponding to the deleted SDU or at least one segment of the SDU to the PDCP layer through BSR, that is, the SDU or at least one segment of the SDU is not reported using DSR, that is, the data amount is not reported as emergency data.
[0149] It should be understood that if at least one target data does not exist, the triggered DSR is canceled.
[0150] Exemplarily, delay budget may also be replaced by PDU Set Delay Budget (PSDB) or Packet Delay Budget (PDB), which does not affect the essence of the invention.
[0151] It should be noted that if the network device side has received the SDU sent by the terminal device and replied to the terminal device confirmation information, the PDCP layer may also send a deletion indication of the SDU to the RLC layer. In this case, if the discard timer of the data corresponding to the SDU has not expired, the remaining time of the fifth indication field is the value corresponding to the discard timer. For example: if there are 10ms left in the discard timer, the remaining time of the fifth indication field is 10ms.
[0152] In this implementation, for data corresponding to an SDU that the PDCP layer instructs the RLC layer to delete due to expiration of a discard timer, the terminal device can still use the DSR to report the data volume and set the remaining time until expiration for this type of data so that this type of data can be processed normally and sent to the network side, thereby helping to ensure that emergency data is not discarded and thus ensuring data integrity. Optionally, the terminal device can also report data corresponding to the SDU or at least one segment of the SDU through the BSR to ensure that it is not discarded.
[0153] 502: The terminal device generates a cache status information report corresponding to the MAC CE format and reports it to the network device.
[0154] In an embodiment of the present application, the terminal device determines the corresponding MAC CE format based on the configuration information, generates a cache status information report corresponding to the format, such as BSR or DSR, and sends the cache status information report to the network device.
[0155] Optionally, as shown in FIG12 , the method may further include steps 503 and 504:
[0156] 503: The network device configures uplink resources for the terminal device based on the buffer status information report;
[0157] 504: The terminal device performs uplink transmission based on the uplink resources configured by the network device.
[0158] Compared with the network device, when the terminal device reports the cache status of the LCG in a more refined manner, the network device can allocate resources to the terminal device in a more refined manner, thereby achieving refined scheduling.
[0159] It can be seen that in the embodiment of the present application, the terminal device can determine the corresponding MAC CE format based on the configuration information.
[0160] Please refer to Figure 13, which is a flow chart of another data reporting method provided in an embodiment of the present application. The method can be implemented based on the architecture shown in Figure 4. As shown in Figure 13, the method includes steps 1301-1302:
[0161] 1301: The terminal device determines the MACCE format based on the number of padding bits and configuration information.
[0162] In this embodiment of the present application, configuration information is used to instruct a terminal device to report the amount of data in an LCG using parameters in a first BS table. Optionally, the configuration information may be used to instruct a terminal device to report the amount of data in at least one LCG using parameters in a first BSR table. Optionally, the at least one LCG may be one or more. Optionally, the at least one LCG should have data to transmit. Optionally, the amount of data in the LCG with data to transmit is within the range of the first BS table. Optionally, the at least one LCG with data to transmit may be one or more. The contents indicated by the above configuration information can be reasonably combined in specific selection logic. For example, the configuration information may be used to instruct a terminal device to report the amount of data in at least one LCG using parameters in a first BSR table, and to report that there is data to transmit in an LCG using parameters in the first BSR table, and that the amount of data to transmit is within the range of the first BS table. For example, the configuration information may be used to instruct a terminal device to report the amount of data in at least one LCG using parameters in the first BSR table, even if the LCG with data to transmit is not within the range of the at least one LCG. In an embodiment of the present application, when the MAC CE format is a truncated MAC CE format, the configuration information is used to indicate that the terminal device can report the data volume in the LCG using the parameters in the first BS table. This can be understood as follows: there are multiple LCGs in the terminal device that need to report the data volume, but only some LCGs can use this truncated MAC CE to report the data volume. In this case, at least one LCG selected to report the data volume using this truncated MAC CE is indicated by the network as being able to report the data volume in the LCG using the parameters in the first BS table. Furthermore, optionally, the data volume in the LCG is within the range of the first BS table.
[0163] The BSRMAC CE corresponding to the first format includes an LCG ID indication field, which is used to indicate the identifier of the LCG to which the first data volume needs to be reported. The BSRMAC CE corresponding to the first format also includes a first indication field and a second indication field. The first indication field is used to indicate the first data volume corresponding to the LCG, that is, the bufferSize field; the second indication field is used to indicate whether the information in the first indication field is represented by a parameter (that is, an index) in the first BS table or a parameter (that is, an index) in the second BS table, that is, "BT i " field. Exemplarily, the first format includes an enhanced BSR format or an enhanced long BSR format.
[0164] Exemplarily, the amount of data to be reported in the LCG of the terminal device may include a first amount of data or a second amount of data. The first amount of data refers to the amount of data reported using BSR, that is, the amount of data corresponding to regular data, and the triggered BSR may be a padding BSR; the second amount of data refers to the amount of data reported using DSR, that is, the amount of data corresponding to emergency data.
[0165] For example, in terms of reporting the BSR, if the terminal device has an LCG that needs to report a first amount of data, and the number of padding bits is greater than or equal to the sum of the size of the BSR MAC CE corresponding to the first format and the size of the MAC subheader of the BSR MAC CE corresponding to the first format, then the MAC CE format is determined to be the first format based on the configuration information. The first format can be specifically described in Figure 3. It can be reflected in the standard text as follows:
[0166] In this implementation, the terminal device compares the number of padding bits with the size of the BSR MAC CE corresponding to the first format and can select the first format for BSR reporting. In the first format, either the index in the first BS table or the index in the second BS table can be used to indicate the amount of data in bufferSize, making the method of reporting data amount relatively flexible. Furthermore, when the index in the first BS table is used to indicate the amount of data in bufferSize in the first format, both the new BS table and the new MAC CE format are used, which facilitates more fine-grained data amount reporting and makes reporting more reasonable.
[0167] For example, if the terminal device has multiple LCGs that need to report the first data volume, and the number of padding bits is greater than or equal to the sum of two bytes and the size of the MAC subheader of the long BSR MAC CE, and less than three bytes and the sum of the size of the MAC subheader of the BSR MAC CE corresponding to the first format, then the MAC CE format is determined to be a long truncated BSR format based on the configuration information. The long truncated BSR format is the truncated type of the MAC CE format shown in Figure 2. It can be reflected in the standard text as follows:
[0168] Among them, three bytes are the first data amount corresponding to at least one LCG plus the bytes of the first indication field and the second indication field; two bytes are the first data amount corresponding to one LCG plus the bytes of the first indication field.
[0169] It should be noted that when comparing the number of padding bits and MAC CE, it is necessary to ensure that both sides of the comparison are in the same unit. For example, in the above comparison description, the number of padding bits can be understood as the number of bits. The three bytes compared with it cannot be 3, but should be converted to a number with the same bit unit, that is, 3 bytes × 8 bits = 24 bits.
[0170] In this implementation, when the number of padding bits is greater than or equal to the sum of two bytes and the size of the MAC subheader of the long BSR MAC CE, and less than three bytes and the size of the MAC subheader of the BSR MAC CE corresponding to the first format, and there are multiple LCGs with data to be sent, the terminal device can use the long truncated BSR format to report the data volume, and can report the cache status of as many LCGs as possible.
[0171] Exemplarily, if the terminal device has multiple LCGs that need to report the first data volume, and the number of padding bits is greater than or equal to the sum of the three bytes and the size of the MAC subheader of the BSR MAC CE corresponding to the first format, and is less than the sum of the size of the BSR MAC CE corresponding to the first format and the size of the MAC subheader of the BSR MAC CE corresponding to the first format, then the MAC CE format is determined to be the third format based on the configuration information; wherein the third format is a truncated type of the first format. Exemplarily, the third format can be an enhanced truncated BSR format or an enhanced long truncated BSR format. It can be reflected in the standard text as follows:
[0172] In this implementation, when the number of padding bits is greater than or equal to the sum of three bytes and the size of the MAC subheader of the BSR MAC CE corresponding to the first format, and is less than the sum of the size of the BSR MAC CE corresponding to the first format and the size of the MAC subheader of the BSR MAC CE corresponding to the first format, the terminal device can use the truncation type of the first format (i.e., the third format) to report the data volume.
[0173] Exemplarily, if the number of padding bits is less than the sum of two bytes and the size of the MAC subheader of the long BSR MAC CE, and the terminal device has multiple LCGs to report the first amount of data, the MAC CE format is determined to be a truncated BSR format. Optionally, when the terminal device has multiple LCGs to report the cache status, the terminal device can select the LCG with the highest priority based on the priorities of the multiple LCGs and report its cache status. If the number of padding bits is less than the sum of two bytes and the size of the MAC subheader of the long BSR MAC CE, and the terminal device has one LCG to report the first amount of data, the MAC CE format is determined to be a short BSR format. Among them, the truncated BSR format and the short BSR format can be seen in the description shown in Figure 1. It can be reflected in the standard text as follows:
[0174] In this implementation, when the number of padding bits is less than the sum of two bytes and the size of the MAC subheader of the long BSR MAC CE, the terminal device can determine whether to use the truncated BSR format or the short BSR format based on the number of LCGs to report data.
[0175] Exemplarily, in terms of reporting DSR, the terminal device can also determine the MAC CE format based on the number of padding bits and configuration information. Among them, the DSR MAC CE corresponding to the MAC CE format includes a fourth indication field and a fifth indication field; the fourth indication field is used to indicate the second data volume to be reported by the corresponding LCG; the fifth indication field is used to indicate the remaining time until the data corresponding to the second data volume expires. For example: the fourth indication field can be the bufferSize field. Exemplarily, if the terminal device has 1 LCG to report the second data volume, the MACCE format can be the bufferSize of the DSR MAC CE corresponding to the short BSR format plus the remaining time until the data corresponding to the second data volume expires. That is to say, the fifth indication field can be the remaining time field of the urgent data cached in the corresponding LCG, and the remaining time field is used to indicate the remaining time until the data expires, and so on.
[0176] In this implementation, when a terminal device reports the volume of emergency data, it can select parameters in the new BS table based on the configuration information to report the data volume.
[0177] Exemplarily, the data corresponding to the second data volume reported by the terminal device includes data corresponding to the SDU that the PDCP layer instructs the RLC layer to delete, and the PDCP layer instructs the RLC layer to delete the SDU when the discard timer of the data corresponding to the SDU expires. When performing DSR reporting, if the data corresponding to the SDU or at least one segment of the SDU has been delivered to the lower layer, the terminal device can set the fifth indication field to 0 in the DSR MAC CE corresponding to the determined MAC CE format; or, the terminal device can select the minimum value from the remaining time until expiration of at least one target data, and set the fifth indication field to the minimum value in the DSR MAC CE corresponding to the determined MAC CE format. Among them, the at least one target data is the data corresponding to the second data volume except the SDU or at least one segment of the SDU. For example: in addition to the SDU that the PDCP layer indicates is deleted, the terminal device also needs to report the data volume corresponding to SDU1 and SDU2. Then, a minimum value can be selected from the remaining time until the expiration of the data corresponding to SDU1 and SDU2, and it can be set as the remaining time until the expiration of the data corresponding to the SDU that the PDCP layer indicates is lost at the RLC layer. Exemplarily, the terminal device can also report the data volume corresponding to the SDU or at least one segment of the SDU that the PDCP layer indicates is deleted through the BSR, that is, the SDU or at least one segment of the SDU is not reported using the DSR, that is, the data volume is not reported as emergency data. It should be understood that if there is no at least one target data, the triggered DSR is canceled.
[0178] In this implementation, for data corresponding to an SDU that the PDCP layer instructs the RLC layer to delete due to expiration of a discard timer, the terminal device can still use the DSR to report the data volume and set the remaining time until expiration for this type of data so that this type of data can be processed normally and sent to the network side, thereby helping to ensure that emergency data is not discarded and thus ensuring data integrity. Optionally, the terminal device can also report data corresponding to the SDU or at least one segment of the SDU through the BSR to ensure that it is not discarded.
[0179] 1302: The terminal device generates a cache status information report corresponding to the MAC CE format and reports it to the network device.
[0180] In an embodiment of the present application, the terminal device can determine the corresponding MAC CE format based on the number of padding bits and the size of the cache status information report corresponding to the first format, and generate a cache status information report corresponding to the format, such as: BSR or DSR, and send the cache status information report to the network device.
[0181] Optionally, as shown in FIG14 , the method may further include steps 1303 and 1304:
[0182] 1303: The network device configures uplink resources for the terminal device based on the buffer status information report;
[0183] 1304: The terminal device performs uplink transmission based on the uplink resources configured by the network device.
[0184] Compared with the network device, when the terminal device reports the cache status of the LCG in a more refined manner, the network device can allocate resources to the terminal device in a more refined manner, thereby achieving refined scheduling.
[0185] It can be seen that in the embodiment of the present application, the terminal device can determine the corresponding MAC CE format based on the number of padding bits and configuration information.
[0186] Please refer to Figure 15, which is a schematic diagram of the structure of a data reporting device provided in an embodiment of the present application. As shown in Figure 15, the device may include a transceiver unit 1501 and a processing unit 1502; wherein:
[0187] Processing unit 1502 is used to determine the media access control MAC control unit CE format based on configuration information; the configuration information is used to instruct the terminal device to report the amount of data in the logical channel group LCG through the parameters in the first BS table; and generate a cache status information report corresponding to the MAC CE format.
[0188] The transceiver unit 1501 is configured to report the cache status information.
[0189] It can be seen that in the device shown in Figure 15, the corresponding MAC CE format can be determined based on the configuration information. The MAC CE format can be a traditional MAC CE format or a newly defined MAC CE format. In the newly defined MAC CE format, the index in the first BS table can be used to report the amount of cached data. Since the index in the first BS table is divided more finely, the terminal device can achieve finer-grained BSR reporting, and reporting BSR is more reasonable.

[0199] In a possible implementation, the data corresponding to the second data volume includes data corresponding to a service data unit SDU that a packet data convergence protocol PDCP layer instructs a radio link control RLC layer to delete; the PDCP layer instructs the RLC layer to delete the SDU when a discard timer of data corresponding to the SDU expires;
[0200] Among them, if the data corresponding to the SDU or at least one segment of the SDU has been delivered to the lower layer, the remaining time until the data corresponding to the SDU or at least one segment of the SDU is 0; or the remaining time until the data corresponding to the SDU or at least one segment of the SDU is the minimum value of the remaining time until the expiration of at least one target data, wherein the at least one target data is the data corresponding to the second data volume except the SDU or at least one segment of the SDU; or the data volume of the data corresponding to the SDU or at least one segment of the SDU is reported through the BSR.

[0205] It can be seen that in the device shown in Figure 16, the corresponding MAC CE format can be determined based on the number of padding bits and configuration information.

[0210] In a possible implementation, the buffer status information report includes a buffer status report BSR; and in determining the medium access control MAC element CE format based on the number of padding bits and the configuration information, the processing unit 1602 is specifically configured to:
[0211] If the terminal device has multiple LCGs that need to report the first data volume, and the number of padding bits is greater than or equal to the sum of two bytes and the size of the MAC subheader of the long BSR MAC CE, and less than three bytes and the sum of the size of the MAC subheader of the BSR MAC CE corresponding to the first format, then the MAC CE format is determined to be the long truncated BSR format based on the configuration information.

[0214] If the number of padding bits is less than the sum of two bytes and the size of the MAC subheader of the long BSR MAC CE, and the terminal device has one LCG to report the first data volume, the MAC CE format is determined to be the short BSR format based on the configuration information.
