Abstract
Description
[0001] DESCRIPTION
[0002] BARREL LOCK FOR SINGLE SHOT BREAK ACTION RIFLES
[0003] Technical Field
[0004] The subject matter of this invention relates to a barrel lock for a single shot and break action rifle, which allows the barrel to be locked to the receiver after the barrel §s closed and ready for firing.
[0005] Prior art
[0006] In single shot and break action rifles, which are generally used for hunting and sport shooting, the barrel is opened (broken) from the receiver by the user by separating / rotating the joint from the axis, allowing a new cartridge to be inserted into the rifle. General principle of use of a break action rifle:
[0007] Barrel Opening(breaking): the user opens the barrel of the rifle by separating it from the receiver. This usually takes place around the joint or axis at the bottom of the barrel.
[0008] Cartridge Loading: When the barrel is opened, the user places a new cartridge into the rifle.
[0009] Barrel Closure: after the cartridge is inserted, the user closes the barrel back towards the reciver. This is the step that activates the firing mechanism and makes the rifle ready for firing.
[0010] Trigger Pull and Firing: When the trigger is pulled, the firing mechanism is activated. This mechanism usually includes a trigger mechanism and releases the firing pin when the trigger is pulled. The firing pin fires the cartridge.
[0011] Ignition and Cartridge Explosion: The firing pin lights the cartridge and activates the igniter inside the cartridge. This starts an ignition process that causes the cartridge to explode and eject from the barrel.
[0012] The user can then open the barrel again to remove the empty cartridge and insert a new cartridge. The barrel opening / breaking and closing steps that make the rifle ready for firing are the two indispensable steps in single shot and break action rifles. A barrel lock is used to close the barrel to the receiver. Barrel locks are critical elements that prevent the barrel from being opened / broken without the intervention of the user. On the other hand, in terms of user comfort and safety, they should be easily accessible and openable by the user.
[0013] They are usually controlled by a lever on the receiver. When the lever is pulled by the user, the lock, which is mounted inside the receiver, is released from the barrel and allows the barrel to be opened. When the barrel is closed again after the user has loaded the ammunition, the lock engages back into the barrel and secures the barrel to the receiver.
[0014] Aim of the Invention
[0015] The aim of this invention is to create a barrel lock that can be controlled from the trigger mechanism for user's comfort in single shot break-barrel riffles.
[0016] Another aim of the invention is to reduce the amount of power required for the cock spring by changing the position of the cock spring without changing the position of the cock and trigger in a limited space in the rifle.
[0017] Another aim of the invention is to be able to change the position of the cock by moving the cock with the movement of the lock.
[0018] Another aim of the invention is to provide a lock system eith increased user safety.
[0019] Yet another aim of the invention is to increase the accuracy of the shot / target by increasing the barrel stability thanks to the design of the lock.

[0027] The items in the figures above are numbered as follows and will be used throughout the remainder of the specification:
[0028] 1. Single shot and break action rifle
[0029] 2. Receiver
[0030] 3. Lock
[0031] 4. Lock Tip
[0032] 5. Trigger guard

[0034] 7. Cock
[0035] 8. Cock Housing
[0036] 9. Pin
[0037] 10. Lever Housing
[0038] 11. Lock Spring
[0039] 12. Trigger
[0040] 13. Cock Spring
[0041] 14. Stage
[0042] 15. Lock Spring Housing
[0043] 16. Joint
[0044] 17. Lever tip
[0045] The barrel lock mechanism mainly consists of trigger guard(5), lever lock(6) and lock(3). (Figure 2-3-4) It works on the principle that the lock(3), which contains at least one lock tip(4) located on the receiver(2), passes into the lock tip slots located on the barrel. The lock tips(4), which are released from the slots by the user moving the lock(3) at the desired time, allow the barrel to be separated from the receiver(2). It is a technical problem that the lock(3) can be moved without any additional lever on the single shot and break action rifle.
[0046] In the invention, the movement of the lock is provided as follows. The trigger guard(5) is connected to the receiver(2) by means of a pin(9). Thanks to its connection with a single pin(9), the trigger guard(5) is able to make circular movements in the axis of the pin(9). (Figure 3 - 4) In the invention, it is aimed to move the lock(3) horizontally by utilizing the circular motion of the trigger guard(5). For this purpose, a lock lever(9) extending into the receiver(2) is formed in the inner part of the trigger guard(5) inside the receiver(2).
[0047] The lever lock(6) is rod-shaped and extends into the receiver(2) as aforementioned. The lever lock(6) passes through the lever housing(lO) formed on the lock(3) which lies horizontally in the receiver(2). A structure in the form of a joint(16) is formed on the lever loc k(6). Since the joint diameter is equal to the diameter / width of the lever housing(lO), each movement of the lever lock(6) can move the lock(3). In this way, the circular movement of the trigger guard(5) is transferred to the lock(3) by the lever lock(6) and the horizontal movement of the lock (3) is ensured. Therefore, when the trigger guard(5) is rottated in "a" direction, it can move the lock(3) in the "z" direction. (Figure-3) In addition, the lever tip( 17) on the joi nt( 16) leans agaisnt the lockwall and prevents the lock(3) from rotating around its own axis.
[0048] When the lock(3) is retracted into the receiver, in other words, when it moves in the "z" direction, the lock ends on the lock end are released from the lock slots on the barrel and the barrel can be opened / broken.
[0049] The lock spring(ll), which is compressed when the lock(3) moves in the "z" direction, opens when the user releases the trigger guard(5) and pushes the lock(3) in the "y" direction and returns it to its original position. This movement of the lock(3) also pushes the lever lock (6), which moves the trigger guard(5) in the "b" direction and returns the trigger guard(5) to its initial position. (Figure- 4) There is also a cock housing(8) on the lock(3) through which the cock(7) passes. The cock(7), which is connected to the receiver by a pin and rotates on the axis of the pin, passes through the aforementioned cock housing(8), with one end touching the trigger(12) and the other end touching the cock spring(13). Another problem solved by the invention is that the cock(7) changes its position simultaneously with the closing of the barrel.
[0050] As a result, the lock(3) is preferably cylindrical. The cylindrical form is designed with two stage diameters. In this way, strength is provided with the large diameter and bearing is provided with the small diameter. At one extreme of the lock(3) there is at least one lock end which fits into the lock slot on the barrel. At the other extreme of the lock(3) there is preferably a lock spring housing(15) in which the lock spring(ll) fits. The lock(3) comprises a lever housing(lO) in which the lever lock(6), which transfers the movement of the trigger guard(5) to the lock(3), is inserted and which is formed with the same width as the diameter of the joint formed on the lever housing(lO). The lock(3) also comprises at least one cock housing(8) through which the cock(7) passes and which, when the lock(3) moves, contacts the cock(7) and causes the cock(7) to move. By moving the lock(3) in the "z" direction, the cock(7) that contacts the walls of the cock housing(8) formed on the lock(3) also moves. In this way, the cock(7), which moves circularly on the pin axis, can change its position. The stages(14) to be formed on the cock(7) and sitting on the trigger(12) can change the cock position(safety / cocked).
