Present embodiments relate to a modular firearm. More specifically but without limitation, present embodiments relate to a modular firearm, for example semi-automatic rifle, with various modules that provide differing functions to a semi-automatic or automatic rifle. Some of the functions include, but are not limited to, connector for ambidextrous stock folding, interchangeable magwell for changing of firearm caliber, a barrel module with evacuation chamber, and ambidextrous charging handle.

Various embodiments are directed to ambidextrous firearm controls, including an ambidextrous bolt control assembly and / or ambidextrous magazine release and associated methods. The ambidextrous bolt control assembly may include a bolt catch configured to hingedly connect to a firearm to rotate between a disengaged position and an engaged position, the bolt catch may include a first bolt catch engagement button operable from a first side of the firearm and a first bolt catch release button operable from the first side of the firearm; an ambidextrous bolt catch engagement button operable from a second side of the firearm; and an ambidextrous bolt catch release button operable from the second side of the firearm; wherein the ambidextrous bolt catch engagement button and the ambidextrous bolt catch release button may each be separately movable relative to the firearm. The ambidextrous bolt catch assembly may further include an ambidextrous magazine release assembly.

A slide for a firearm includes a top surface and an optical sight mounting surface recessed into the top surface of the slide. At least one pin opening is defined through a portion of the optical sight mounting surface and is configured to receive a pin for attaching an optical sight to the slide. At least one sight attachment opening is defined through the optical sight mounting surface to serve as another connection point for the optical sight. The pin opening and the sight attachment opening allow the optical sight to be attached directly to the slide of the firearm.

A handgun trigger has a trigger body configured for pivotable or rotatable movement when installed in a handgun. A trigger shoe is removably attached or attachable to the trigger body and defines a user interface for firing the handgun. The trigger shoe can be made of polymeric material and can be attached to the trigger body using a snap fit. For example, the trigger shoe snaps over rear-facing surfaces of the trigger body when installed. Also disclosed is a takedown lever assembly for a semiautomatic handgun, where the takedown actuation lever operable between a firing position and a takedown position. In the takedown position the takedown actuation lever permits removal of the slide from the frame. In the takedown position the trigger is blocked from rotating to the pulled trigger position.

The present invention describes a fixation system for the backstrap of pistol grips, preferably micro-compact pistols. The present invention aims to promote better ergonomics for different users of the same pistol. As each person has different hand dimensions, it is not possible to develop a grip geometry that ensures an ideal hold for everyone, thus, the present invention describes a system that allows the interchangeability of backstraps of different sizes, all of which can be fitted to the pistol's grip. To attach the backstrap to the grip, a housing and a tab equipped with at least one through-hole are designed on the grip and a protrusion is arranged on the backstrap, which fits into said housing, and holes for a connecting element to be inserted and held in the holes and the through-hole.

A trigger assembly has a trigger rotatable about a trigger axis of rotation between a resting position and a pulled position, where the trigger has a trigger shoe and a trigger body. The lever action firearm includes an action lever movable between a retracted position and an extended position. The action lever includes second and third pivots. The action lever is pivotally connected to the lower frame at the second pivot. The lever action firearm also includes a linkage assembly is pivotally connected to the action lever at the third pivot, wherein the linkage assembly is pivotally connected to the bolt carrier assembly at the first pivot.

A control system for a firearm platform includes a chassis, a first bolt actuator rotatably received within the chassis having an upward position and a downward position and configured to engage a bolt when in the upward position. A second bolt actuator is rotatably received within the chassis and operatively engaged with the first bolt actuator to move in unison. A mag release is slidably received within a slot in the chassis and capable of sliding between left, center, and right positions. A mag catch is rotatably received within the chassis and in operable communication with the mag release such that the mag catch engages a magazine when the mag release is centered and disengages the magazine when the mag release is in the right or left position.

A firearm that includes an upper receiver, a barrel coupled to the upper receiver, and a lower receiver coupled to the upper receiver. The lower receiver may include a magazine well and an extension mount positioned forward of the magazine well. A firearm with ambidextrous bolt release mechanism includes a barrel and a bolt slideably mounted in the receiver for axial movement between forward closed breech position in battery with the barrel and a rearward open breech position. The propellant containment vessel may include a body portion having a forward opening, with a propellant charge disposed therein and a cap portion that is crimp rolled within the mouth of the vessel to seal the forward opening. The closed end of the propellant containment vessel may define a primer receptacle configured to receive the primer. The receptacle may define a depth that is less than the primer height so that, when inserted into the receptacle, the primer extends rearwardly beyond the containment vessel. The muzzleloader system may be configured to fire only specifically configured propellant containment vessels.

Conversion devices and methods for converting a chassis style rifle to function as a traditional bolt style rifle. The conversion device includes a conversion component that attaches to a standard or modified standard lower receiver of a rifle to allow the rifle to remain capable of being used as either a chassis gun or standard rifle configuration as desired by the operator. The conversion component may attach to the magazine well of the rifle. The conversion component is removably installable on the lower receiver, and accessories, such as a forearm or handguard, may be removably attached to a conversion component and are supported by the lower receiver. The configuration eliminates the need to contact the upper receiver during the act of firing a shot, particularly for gripping with the off-hand or resting on separate shooting accessories. The accuracy and precision of the rifle are enhanced.

In various aspects, an assembly includes a firearm lower receiver that defines a magazine well and comprises an attachment feature positioned forward of the magazine well. An extension mount may be engaged with the attachment feature of the firearm lower receiver. The extension mount may be monolithic with or configured to be coupled to a firearm handguard.

A rifle has a body, a magazine slot, a handle, a lower mechanism movable between primary and secondary positions in the direction of the barrel extension to drive bullets into the barrel and a monoblock rifle mechanism having an upper mechanism extending over the barrel of the rifle. A primary lock slot is provided on the upper mechanism, and a secondary lock slot on the barrel. One end of a main arm is rotatably connected to the barrel. A button is connected to the main arm so that the user can move the main arm. If the rifle mechanism is retracted, it includes a mechanism stopper with a lock lever that fits into the primary lock slot and prevents the rifle mechanism from moving.

Such bolt carrier movement mechanism may comprise a bolt carrier, an impingement body, a primary extraction leverage member, and an action control structure coupler. The impingement body has at least one impingement surface. The primary extraction leverage member has a coupler mounting portion, an impingement member portion, and a bolt carrier mounting portion. The primary extraction leverage member is engaged at the bolt carrier mounting portion of the bolt carrier. The impingement member portion of the primary extraction leverage member is adjacent to the at least one impingement surface of the impingement body and includes at least one impingement member. The action control structure coupler is pivotably engaged with the coupler mounting portion of the primary extraction leverage member.

Firearm assemblies having a receiver, a stock, and a bottom metal with integral sidewalls defining a cartridge receiving area are disclosed. The sidewalls of the bottom metal preferably extend vertically into a recess defined by the receiver. A firearm comprises a frame which detachably receives a magazine, trigger, and a reciprocating slide moveable between a forward position and rearward removal position. A pivotable takedown lever is selectively engageable with the slide between blocking and non-blocking positions. A magazine disconnect member movably responsive to inserting the magazine into or removing the magazine from the firearm is alterable between a rearward locked position which prevents movement of the trigger to disable the firing mechanism, and a forward unlocked position which allows movement of the trigger and concurrently engages the takedown lever to prevent the takedown lever from leaving the blocking position associated with the ready-to-fire condition of the firearm. The slide is removable from the firearm when the takedown lever is in the non-blocking position. Engagement between the magazine disconnect member and takedown lever prevents full insertion of the magazine if the lever is left in the non-blocking position.

Apparatuses and methods are provided for an optimized direct gas operated firearm. The firearm includes an upper receiver coupled with a lower receiver by a tensioning screw that reduces wobble between the upper and lower receivers. A barrel extension is configured to eliminate misalignment during installation into the upper receiver. A bolt carrier includes a reinforced bolt assembly and a forward-biased dwell weight. The bolt assembly includes an extractor and an extractor pin that simplify disassembly of the firearm. A handguard includes locks that attach to a barrel nut area of the firearm. The locks clamp onto the barrel nut area to align the handguard with the upper receiver. An ambidextrous bolt catch release assembly is operable from either side of the lower receiver. A bolt catch release paddle is disposed at the front of a trigger guard to provide easy access from either side of the lower receiver.
