The firearm includes an upper receiver coupled with a lower receiver by a tensioning screw that reduces wobble between the upper and lower receivers. The bolt assembly includes an extractor and an extractor pin that simplify disassembly of the firearm. A handguard includes locks that attach to a barrel nut area of the firearm. The locks clamp onto the barrel nut area to align the handguard with the upper receiver. An ambidextrous bolt catch release assembly is operable from either side of the lower receiver.
