Devices and methods are provided for immobilizing facet joints of the vertebral column. Embodiments of the invention provide an implant that is inserted in a facet joint from which cartilage has been removed, and which retains the approximate original spacing of the facets in the joint. A retaining arrangement, such as an adhesive, a threaded fastener, or a screw is then used to secure the implant in the joint.

The present invention provides an eyewear frame assembly. A frame has an aperture for receiving a lens. The frame has a split to expand upper and lower portions of the frame to insert or remove the lens from the aperture. First and second projections extend outwardly from the upper and lower frame portions, respectively. The first and second projections have first and second tapered portions, respectively. A sleeve receives said first and second projections. The sleeve has first and second inwardly extending and tapered tabs adapted to receive the first and second tapered portions to secure the first and second projections within the sleeve. The upper and lower portions of the frame are prevented from expanding when the first and second projections are received within the sleeve. First and second openings in the sleeve provide access to depress the first and second projections to remove the first and second projections from the first and second sleeves. A threaded fastener and a threaded sleeve forms a reinforcement assembly for the two portions of the split frame. The sleeve engages the fastener to resist its disengagement with the bushing.

The base is formed with a groove for receiving a supporting portion of the rotating support which has outwardly cavities. The base has outwardly accommodating spaces which is formed with an aperture for receiving a ball and resilient element on two sides. A mounting bracket attaches implements and other devices to the top surface of an inclined raised seam roof structure. An apparatus and method is provided for validating or verifying a fastener connection. A wrench or other torque tool can be engaged with a fastener to be tested. A rotation sensor is associated with the wrench for sensing rotation of the fastener and for generating a first output signal. A torque sensor is associated with the wrench for generating a second output signal corresponding to torque being generated by the wrench against the fastener. A processor is in communication with the rotation sensor to receive the first output signal and is in communication with the torque sensor to receive the second output signal. The processor analyzes the first and second output signals in accordance with a control program stored in memory.

A torque tool and an associated method are provided which apply operator-defined levels of torque to a threaded fastener. In one aspect, a portable, battery powered torque tool controls the motor to slow further advancement of the threaded fastener once the torque that has been applied to the threaded fastener has reached a predefined threshold.
