Systems, including apparatus and methods, for internal fixation of a fractured or otherwise compromised bone. These systems may include and/or make use of bone plates, locking screws, and/or kits, among others.

A suture anchor includes a body having a distal end and a proximal end. Projections in the form of ribs or threads are formed on the body for retaining the anchor in a hole formed in bone. An eyelet formed on the distal end of the body accepts suture. The eyelet preferably is formed by a loop of suture. Where the body of the anchor is formed of a polymer, the suture loop can be formed by insert-molding the suture into the body. Tissue is reattached to bone using the suture anchor by securing a length of suture to the tissue, and threading the length of suture through the eyelet on the distal end of the anchor, leaving lengths of suture extending from either side of the eyelet. Installing the suture anchor into the bone wedges the lengths of suture between the suture anchor and the bone, thereby securing the tissue without the need for tying knots. Pullout strength can be enhanced by twisting the lengths of suture prior to installation of the anchor into the bone.

A system for endosteal tibial ligament fixation with adjustable tensioning is disclosed. A grasping hook located on a shaft is used to draw a ligament graft into a contoured drill hole formed in a bone. A series of slanted ridges on the shaft can pass in only one direction through a securing push nut residing in the contoured drill hole, resulting in an interference fit that secures the attachment system, while allowing the tension of the ligament graft to be adjusted.

A rivet-like bone anchor has a floating washer at its head that can adapt to an angled bone surface and, thereby, better secure a tissue thereto. The anchor includes a rivet, an expandable sleeve, and a washer. The rivet includes a head and an elongate body having proximal and distal ends, the head being mounted on the proximal end of the elongate body. The expandable sleeve has an inner bore adapted to receive the rivet body. The washer “floats” at a proximal end of the sleeve. As the rivet is inserted into sleeve, the sleeve expands into an interference fit with the bone. The head of the rivet, moreover, forces the floating washer into contact with the tissue at an angle that conforms to that of the underlying bone surface. A deployment tool permits the anchor to be deployed without application of unnecessary counterforce. The tool includes an outer tube, the distal end of which can hold the anchor housing, e.g., via a screw fit. A rod, which is slidably disposed within the bore of the tube, can be used to push the rivet into the expandable sleeve so that the sleeve expands into the bone, so that the floating washer is forced into position against the bone surface, and so that anchor is broken away from the housing. This can be effected, for example, by squeezing the distal ends of the outer tube and the rod together, e.g., in the manner that the end of a syringe is squeezed.

A front-loading syringe which comprises a movable plunger for injecting liquid contrast media, is rotatably mountable on a front wall of an injector housing with an interference fit and in sealed relationship with respect thereto, with or without a pressure jacket, by a first-quick release mechanism. At the same time, the plunger is connected to an injector drive mechanism by a second readily releasable mechanism. During the mounting operation, a sensor reads injection information from an indicator device on the syringe and feeds it to an injector control. A heart valve assembly includes an annular prosthesis including an annular member and a sewing cuff extending radially from the annular member, and a valve member including a frame and a plurality of leaflets carried by struts. The annular prosthesis includes a plurality of pockets extending upwardly from the annular prosthesis for receiving a portion of the frame for securing the valve member to the annular prosthesis. Each pocket may include a flexible rim extending upwardly the sewing cuff and a cover at least partially defining a recess. The rim may be deflectable radially outwardly to accommodate a portion of the frame being received in the recess, and may be resiliently biased to return inwardly when released to cover the portion of the frame with the respective cover. The valve member may be further secured to the annular prosthesis by an interference fit between the rim and the frame.

In one aspect, the invention is directed to a camera for mounting on a vehicle, wherein the camera housing made up of two housing members, with a conductive coating on the interior of each of the housing members. The two housing members mate together using an interference fit, to provide a greater assurance that they are electrically connected to each other. One of the housing members is connected to ground. In another aspect, the invention provides a camera module that has a housing and a wire harness or wire or lead that is electrically connected to circuitry of the camera and that extends through the camera housing for electrical connection to a vehicle wire harness or the like. The wire or lead extends through a portion of the housing with the housing disposed at the wire prior to connection of the wire to the circuitry of the camera. The electrical connection of the wire to the camera circuitry is made as the housing is assembled. The joint at where the wire extends outward from the housing portion is sealed, such as via shrink wrapping or the like.

The invention is directed toward a cartilage repair assembly comprising a shaped structure of subchondral bone with an integral overlying cartilage cap which is treated to remove cellular debris and proteoglycans and milled cartilage in a bioabsorbable carrier. The shaped structure is dimensioned to fit in a drilled bore in a cartilage defect area so that said shaped bone and cartilage cap when centered in the bore does not engage the side wall of the bore in an interference fit and is surrounded by milled cartilage and carrier. A method for inserting the assembly into a cartilage defect area is disclosed.

The invention is directed toward a cartilage repair assembly comprising a cylindrically shaped allograft structure of subchondral bone with an integral overlying smaller diameter cartilage cap which is treated to remove cellular debris and proteoglycans. The shaped structure is dimensioned to fit in a drilled bore in a cartilage defect area so that the subchondral bone of the structure engages the side wall of the bone portion of the drilled bore in an interference fit while the cartilage cap is spaced from cartilage portion of the side wall of the drilled bore forming a gap in which a milled cartilage and biocompatible carrier mixture is placed allowing cell transfer throughout the defect area. A method for inserting the shaped allograft structure into a cartilage defect area is also disclosed.

According to the present invention there is provided a snap in locking cable connector with a cylindrical housing having an entry end aperture and an exit end aperture. The entry end aperture can accept the snap-in spring steel adapter of U.S. Pat. No. 6,080,933 as well as the exit end peripheral spring steel locking ring described in this patent to provide a connector that allows rapid and simplified installation of armored cable into a junction or circuit box. The cylindrical housing includes an annular groove or ridge about the inner periphery thereof in the area of the entry end for retention of the spring steel adapter. An electrical cable connector of this type that relies upon frictional or interference fit for retention of the spring steel adapter is also described. Retention of the spring steel adapter with a screw, rivet or similar fastener is also described.

A reclosable strap assembly includes an elongate strap having a first end including a plurality of engaging segments. A clasp includes a frame that defines a frame opening for receiving the first end. Each of the plurality of engaging segments is sized to create an interference fit between the individual engaging segment and the frame when the individual engaging segment is inserted into the frame opening.

A device for altering the angle between the shaft and the head of a golf club. The preferred embodiment of the invention utilizes a plurality of inserts which are configured to be inserted into a tapered hole in the golf club head for receiving a shaft or a hosel for mating with the shaft. Each such insert is designed to provide a different angle between head and shaft so that the golfer merely selects one of the plurality of inserts which will be best for his or her hitting accuracy. The inserts are positioned in the club head in such a way as to create a swaging of the insert into the club head and the insert onto the shaft tip. Swaging is the interference fit of two components with two or more surfaces that are forced together in a locking condition, for instance a tapered pin into a tapered hole. A swaging screw is utilized to drive the insert into a tapered swage condition with the club head and thus squeeze onto the shaft to ensure a strong bond without utilizing an adhesive. The disclosed embodiment relates to a golf club putter, but other golf clubs, such as metalwood head golf clubs would employ the invention as well.

A container assembly has a substantially rigid moulded plastic shell, tub, a lid, and an auxiliary container that may contain a thermal storage medium such as a phase change liquid. The lid has a peripheral seal that mates in an interference fit with the lip of the tub. The lid also has external fittings that define a seat for the auxiliary container. The lid and the auxiliary container have mutually engaging guides and guide followers that permit a single degree of translational freedom sliding motion of the auxiliary container relative to the lid. The fittings of the seat and the interference fit seal fittings of the lid and the tub do not interfere with or obstruct each other. The tub, the lid and the auxiliary container may have roughly the same footprint, such that when assembled they form a compact assembly, one atop, or beside, the other. An insulating beverage container holder is disclosed that is adapted to receive either longneck beverage bottles or aluminum cans. The insulating beverage holder consists of a substantially cylindrical body having 3 axially aligned apertures therein. One aperture is sized for an interference fit with the cylindrical diameter of an aluminum can beverage container. A second aperture is sized for an interference fit with the neck portion of a longneck beverage container. A third aperture, situated between the first and second apertures, is sized for an interference fit with the larger diameter of a longneck beverage container. A tamper-evident rigid plastic food container system wherein the outer periphery of the mating surfaces of the lid and tray are permanently bonded together after the food product has been placed in the tray, a set of perforated rows at an inner periphery, the interconnect of which needs to be torn into order to open the lid. Intentional, inadvertent or malicious ingress into the container can only be made by tearing at the perforations thereby evidencing the potential tampering and contamination of the packaging contents. The lid and tray edges may further include mechanical interference fits, including snap-fit grips that may be of the releaseably lockable kind to permit sealing, release and re-sealing multiple times without deterioration in reliability, and which can further prevent or minimize leakage of liquid food product.

The invention consists of an endoluminal prosthesis adapted for placement at a bifurcation site within the body. The stent or stent-graft may be constructed to have segments of differing structural properties. A section of the stent-graft may be constructed to have a single-lumen tubular stent member covering a multilumen graft member. The stent-graft may comprise at least two modular components adapted for in situ assembly. An extended cylindrical interference fit may be used to seal the modular components.
