A fire retardant is a substance that is used to slow or stop the spread of fire or reduce its intensity. This is commonly accomplished by chemical reactions that reduce the flammability of fuels or delay their combustion. Fire retardants may also cool the fuel through physical action or endothermic chemical reactions. Fire retardants are available as powder, to be mixed with water, as fire-fighting foams and fire-retardant gels. Fire retardants are also available as coatings or sprays to be applied to an object.

Cosmetic and pharmaceutical foam

The invention relates to uses of an alcohol-free cosmetic or pharmaceutical foam carrier comprising water, a hydrophobic solvent, a foam adjuvant agent, a surface-active agent and a water gelling agent as a flame retardant or flame resistant foam. The hydrophobic solvent is preferably mineral oil; medium chain triglycerides; isopropyl myristearate or octyl dodecanol, silicone oil or vegetable oil or mixtures thereof. The cosmetic or pharmaceutical foam carrier does not contain aliphatic alcohols, also making it non-irritating and non-drying. The alcohol-free foam carrier is suitable for inclusion of both water-soluble and oil-soluble pharmaceutical and cosmetic agents.

The invention discloses a halogen-free flame-retardant thermoplastic elastomer cable material with polyphenylether as the base materials and a preparation method thereof. The raw material of the cable material contains the components with the following weight percentage: 10 to 35 percent of matrix resin A; 5 to 15 percent of matrix resin B; 10 to 25 percent of elastomer; 5 to 25 percent of softening plasticizer; 8 to 15 percent of flame-retardant plasticizer; 20 to 40 percent of smoke-suppression flame retardant; 3 to 10 percent of compatilizer; 1 to 5 percent of lubricant; 1 to 5 percent of powder surface conditioner; 0 to 10 percent of mineral filler; 0.1 to 1 percent of stabilizing agent. The invention adds matrix resin, polyphenylether of strong polarity and functional group of styrene-ethylene / butylene-styrene segmented copolymer, which effectively improves the compatibility of non-polar elastomer with polyphenylether; the invention also adds plasticizer, which reduces the hardness of the material and increases the flexibility; and through the optimization and interaction of the softening plasticizer and the flame-retardant plasticizer, the invention reduces the hardness and improves the tactility of the material, and the flame retardant performance is excellent.

An optical cable, which is flame-retardant, and has excellent adhesion of the protective covering to the fiber cladding and uniform thickness of the fiber cladding, contains a polymer optical conductor containing a fiber core; a single-layer or multi-layer fiber cladding; an inner external layer which adheres to the fiber cladding with a peel force of at least 50 N; and an outer external layer which adheres to the inner external layer with a peel force of not more than 30 N. The inner external layer contains a molding composition having a first polyamide selected from a) PA 11, b) PA 12, c) PA 1012, d) PA 1212, e) a copolyamide of at least two of PA 11, PA 12, PA 1012 and PA 1212, said copolyamide containing not more than 30 mol % of a comonomer, and f) mixtures thereof. The first polyamide contains at least 50 mueq / g of amino end groups. The first molding composition has a zero-shear viscosity of from 400 to 6000 Pas. The outer external layer contains a second molding composition which has the following i)-iii): i) from 20 to 95% by weight of a second polyamide selected from a) PA 11, b) PA 12, c) PA 1012, d) PA 1212, e) a copolyamide of at least two of PA 11, PA 12, PA 1012 and PA 1212, said copolyamide containing not more than 30 mol % of a comonomer, f) a polyetheramide of at least one of a)-e), and g) mixtures thereof, ii) from 5 to 45% by weight of a flame retardant, and iii) from 0 to 60% by weight of an impact modifier.

Strengthened, light weight wallboard and method and apparatus for making the same

A novel wallboard composition is disclosed comprising a unique combination of synthetic binders selected for their ability to establish a strengthened permanent bond in the final dry state for use in a wallboard composition comprising primarily gypsum, and in a wallboard composition comprising an expanded mineral such as Perlite which largely reduces the amount of gypsum over current gypsum wallboard formulations, thus reducing the weight while maintaining the strength of the wallboard structure. In a preferred embodiment, the lightweight, strengthened wallboard of the present invention also comprises an optional covering veneer that is applied to the top ply of the face paper to provide increased strength, moisture resistance, and fire retardency, and the back paper top ply is treated to provide increased flexural strength. Additionally, this invention relates to the unique manufacturing process to produce the wallboard composition of the present invention in order to create a lightweight, strengthened, moisture resistant, and fire retardant wallboard used to cover walls and ceilings in construction applications. Still further, this invention relates to the apparatus for manufacturing the wallboard composition of the present invention, including a method and apparatus for economically converting a standard gypsum wallboard manufacturing facility into a facility for manufacturing wallboard of the present invention.

For wood powder / polystyrene composite material, compared with no addition of flame retardant, the average heat release rate is decreased by 48 percent, the quantity of smoke yield is reduced by 30 percent and the CO yield is decreased by 28 percent during combustion. The product of the invention has high oxygen-index, long ignition time and no droplet, which greatly reduces the fire hazard of the material, and the appearance of the material is similar with wood. The product of the invention also has low cost, wide application range and good creep resistance, forming performance and mechanical property.

The invention relates to a piece of inflaming retarding soft polyvinyl chloride plastic used in electric wires and cables, which belongs to sheath and insulation materials used in electric wires and cables in industrial polymer materials and is composed of the raw materials with the following proportion by weight: 25 to 70 parts by weight of polyvinyl chloride resin 100 plasticizer; 5 to 40 parts by weight of co-polymerization resin, 3 to 12 parts by weight of stabilizing agent; 5 to 20 parts by weight of flame retardant I; 5 to 25 parts by weight of flame retardant II; 30 to 130 parts by weight of flame retardant III; 0 to 40 parts by weight of loading agent and 0.5 to 5 parts by weight of lubricant. The inflaming retarding soft polyvinyl chloride plastic used in electric wires and cables provided by the invention has very good inflaming retarding performance with the oxygen index as high as more than 46 and can meet the requirements of using the electric wires and cables with special inflaming retarding requirements as the sheath and insulation materials; the inflaming retarding soft polyvinyl chloride plastic not only has very good inflaming retarding performance but also has favorable low temperature resistant and embrittlement resistant performances and very good soft performance and processing performance.
