[0040] In accordance with various embodiments, the BS 202 may be an evolved node B (eNB) , a serving eNB, a target eNB, a femto station, or a pico station, for example. In some embodiments, the UE 204 may be embodied in various types of user devices such as a mobile phone, a smart phone, a personal digital assistant (PDA) , tablet, laptop computer, wearable computing device, etc. The processor modules 214 and 236 may be implemented, or realized, with a general purpose processor, a content addressable memory, a digital signal processor, an application specific integrated circuit, a field programmable gate array, any suitable programmable logic device, discrete gate or transistor logic, discrete hardware components, or any combination thereof, designed to perform the functions described herein. In this manner, a processor may be realized as a microprocessor, a controller, a microcontroller, a state machine, or the like. A processor may also be implemented as a combination of computing devices, e.g., a combination of a digital signal processor and a microprocessor, a plurality of microprocessors, one or more microprocessors in conjunction with a digital signal processor core, or any other such configuration.

[0041] Furthermore, the steps of a method or algorithm described in connection with the embodiments disclosed herein may be embodied directly in hardware, in firmware, in a software module executed by processor modules 214 and 236, respectively, or in any practical combination thereof. The memory modules 216 and 234 may be realized as RAM memory, flash memory, ROM memory, EPROM memory, EEPROM memory, registers, a hard disk, a removable disk, a CD-ROM, or any other form of storage medium known in the art. In this regard, memory modules 216 and 234 may be coupled to the processor modules 210 and 230, respectively, such that the processors modules 210 and 230 can read information from, and write information to, memory modules 216 and 234, respectively. The memory modules 216 and 234 may also be integrated into their respective processor modules 210 and 230. In some embodiments, the memory modules 216 and 234 may each include a cache memory for storing temporary variables or other intermediate information during execution of instructions to be executed by processor modules 210 and 230, respectively. Memory modules 216 and 234 may also each include non-volatile memory for storing instructions to be executed by the processor modules 210 and 230, respectively.

[0042] The network communication module 218 generally represents the hardware, software, firmware, processing logic, and / or other components of the base station 202 that enable bi-directional communication between base station transceiver 210 and other network components and communication nodes configured to communication with the base station 202. For example, network communication module 218 may be configured to support internet or WiMAX traffic. In a typical deployment, without limitation, network communication module 218 provides an 802.3 Ethernet interface such that base station transceiver 210 can communicate with a conventional Ethernet based computer network. In this manner, the network communication module 218 may include a physical interface for connection to the computer network (e.g., Mobile Switching Center (MSC) ) . The terms “configured for, ” “configured to” and conjugations thereof, as used herein with respect to a specified operation or function, refer to a device, component, circuit, structure, machine, signal, etc., that is physically constructed, programmed, formatted and / or arranged to perform the specified operation or function.

[0043] The Open Systems Interconnection (OSI) Model (referred to herein as, “open system interconnection model” ) is a conceptual and logical layout that defines network communication used by systems (e.g., wireless communication device, wireless communication node) open to interconnection and communication with other systems. The model is broken into seven subcomponents, or layers, each of which represents a conceptual collection of services provided to the layers above and below it. The OSI Model also defines a logical network and effectively describes computer packet transfer by using different layer protocols. The OSI Model may also be referred to as the seven-layer OSI Model or the seven-layer model. In some embodiments, a first layer may be a physical layer. In some embodiments, a second layer may be a Medium Access Control (MAC) layer. In some embodiments, a third layer may be a Radio Link Control (RLC) layer. In some embodiments, a fourth layer may be a Packet Data Convergence Protocol (PDCP) layer. In some embodiments, a fifth layer may be a Radio Resource Control (RRC) layer. In some embodiments, a sixth layer may be a Non Access Stratum (NAS) layer or an Internet Protocol (IP) layer, and the seventh layer being the other layer.

[0044] Various example embodiments of the present solution are described below with reference to the accompanying figures to enable a person of ordinary skill in the art to make and use the present solution. As  would be apparent to those of ordinary skill in the art, after reading the present disclosure, various changes or modifications to the examples described herein can be made without departing from the scope of the present solution. Thus, the present solution is not limited to the example embodiments and applications described and illustrated herein. Additionally, the specific order or hierarchy of steps in the methods disclosed herein are merely example approaches. Based upon design preferences, the specific order or hierarchy of steps of the disclosed methods or processes can be re-arranged while remaining within the scope of the present solution. Thus, those of ordinary skill in the art will understand that the methods and techniques disclosed herein present various steps or acts in a sample order, and the present solution is not limited to the specific order or hierarchy presented unless expressly stated otherwise.

[0045] 2. Systems and Methods for Wireless Sensing Measurement Reports

[0046] Integrated sensing and communication (ISAC) can provide sensing functions based on the 5G communication system. To sense one or more potential targets, a mobile node or device can measure the reflected sensing signal and can report the sensing results to a sensing function (SF) . The sensing function can compute and determine the presence, location, and / or shape of the sensing targets. For each sensing target or sensing environment object, a plurality of paths of reflected sensing signals can be detectable and reported to the SF. The measurement report overhead can be large and unaffordable for a 5G communication system.

[0047] The SF can be a core network unit or a network unit connecting with base station or even embedded into a base station. The SF can be a UE which is able to compute and determine the presence, location, and or the shape of the sensing targets.

[0048] A unified design of communication and sensing functions through joint design of signal (s) and / or hardware can optimize resource utilization compared to two independent systems, and can reduce costs and power consumption. The 5G communication system can transmit wireless signals to target areas or objects. The 5G communication system can analyze the received reflected wireless signals to obtain corresponding sensing measurement data. The 5G communication system can provide sensing services to third-party applications. The 5G communication system can aggregate the sensing measurement data of other sensing technologies (such as cameras, radars, etc. ) to jointly provide sensing services.

[0049] The Integrated Sensing and Communication domain includes at least 32 use cases and their corresponding requirements. Table 1 shows use cases that are divided into categories.

[0050] Table 1. The categories of use cases.

[0051] In the above four categories of use cases for ISAC, the detection, positioning, and tracking type of use case can be deployed. In example use cases or implementations, a large number of UAVs may be used in industrial inspections, security patrols, transportation, logistics transportation, and other scenarios. Typical use cases for UAV sensing can include (1) UAV intrusion detection and (2) UAV collision avoidance and flight trajectory tracing.

[0052] FIG. 3 illustrates an example implementation of sensing for UAV intrusion detection. UAV intrusion detection can be applied to detect / monitor UAV illegal flying in restricted areas (e.g., light rail, airports, government facilities, research institutes, high-speed railway stations, etc. ) . UAV intrusion detection may not require the cooperation of the UAV. The UAV may be unaware of the sensing / monitoring operation. When one or more UAVs appear in the same restricted area, the 5G or 6G system can sense a presence or proximity of one  or more UAVs flying (e.g., illegal UAVs) . gNB based sensing can be used for UAV intrusion detection measurements. The gNB can refer to any type of base stations including 5G and 6G based stations.

[0053] FIG. 4 illustrates an example implementation of network-assisted collision avoidance for UAVs. UAVs can perform various tasks such as surveillance, early warning, and communication in various weather and airspaces. UAVs can be widely used in applications for aerial photography, urban management, agriculture, geology, meteorology, electric power, emergency rescue, and disaster relief. UAV delivery can be used in the logistics industry (such as food delivery, retail goods delivery, postal delivery, delivery of medical aids, agriculture delivery, industrial delivery, etc. ) . The UE can be onboard the UAV. The UE can provide its positioning information and UE ID to a (e.g., 5G) network. The UE can collect the reflection signals from its environments and can send the sensing measurement data associated with the UE ID to the (5G) network via the communication connection. 5G RAN nodes can send sensing signal (s) toward specific directions, angles, and / or areas to track the UAV. UE based sensing measurements and gNB based sensing measurement can be used for UAV collision avoidance and flight trajectory tracing.

[0054] FIG. 5 illustrates an example implementation of UAV flight trajectory tracing (e.g., by 5G systems) . A 5G system can sense a presence or proximity of one or more UAVs that are flying.

[0055] Example Implementation Features 1

[0056] To implement a sensing function by 5G-Asystem, a gNB or UE can transmit sensing signals (e.g., sensing reference signals) . The sensing signals may hit a sensing target (e.g., a UAV Target 0, UAV Target 1, or an environment object such as a building) , and be further reflected to a receiver. The receiver can measure the reflected sensing signal and can determine the presence, the location and / or even the shape of a sensing target. The receiver can measure the reflected sensing signal and report the measurement results to SF, and the SF can determine the presence, the location and / or even the shape of a sensing target.

[0057] FIG. 6 illustrates an example configuration of mono-static sensing. As shown in FIG. 6, a gNB can transmit a sensing signal in the air to detect UAV intrusions and can locate the intruded UAVs. When a UAV Target 0 enters a sensing zone, the sensing signal can hit (e.g., be incident on) the UAV Target 0 and can reflect to the gNB. The gNB can detect the reflected signal and can determine the occurrence of a UAV invasion / intrusion on restricted space. This sensing mode can be referred to as mono-static sensing mode as the sensing signal is both transmitted and received by the same node.

[0058] FIG. 7 illustrates an example configuration of bi-static sensing. As shown in FIG. 7, gNB 0 can transmit a sensing signal in the air to detect UAV intrusions and can locate the intruded UAVs. When UAV Target 0 enters a sensing zone, the sensing signal can hit the UAV Target 0 and the sensing signal can be reflected to a gNB 1. Then, gNB 1 can detect the reflected signal and can determine the occurrence of a UAV invasion. This sensing mode can be referred to as bi-static sensing mode as the transmission side and receiving side of the sensing signal are different. The measurement results based on the reflected sensing signal can include a Reference Signal Received Power (RSRP) , RSRPP (per path RSRP) , timing of arrival (TOA) , timing difference of arrival (TDOA) , Rx-Tx timing difference, Doppler information, speed, phase rotation, and / or angle of arrival (AOA) .

[0059] As shown in FIG. 7, when the distance r00 between the UAV Target 0 and gNB 0, and the distance r10 between a target UAV Target 1 and gNB 0 are the same, then the two detected paths in time domain may be overlapped as shown in FIG. 8. FIG. 8 illustrates an example scenario of same path detection for two targeted UAVs. However, the receiver side may still be able to distinguish the two targets with other characteristics including angles and Doppler information.

[0060] For example, the measurement results may include:

[0061] Measurement Units (MU) MU#0: {τ0 , AOA0, v0, possible RSRPP0} , MU#1: {τ1 , AOA1, possible RSRPP1 } .

[0062] ● where τ0 and τ1 are the same values.

[0063] ● One measurement unit is {τ0 , AOA0, v0, possible RSRPP0} .

[0064] One measurement unit can correspond to one sensing target. For two UAVs, UAV Target 0 and UAV Target 1, two measurement units can be reported to the SF. A mobile device, UE, or node can provide a list of measurement units (MU) or measurement report units where each measurement unit can include a RSRP, a RSRPP (per path RSRP) , timing information (e.g., timing of arrival (TOA) , timing difference of arrival (TDOA) , Rx-Tx timing difference, etc. ) , Doppler information, speed, phase rotation, and / or angle of attack (AOA) . The Doppler information can correspond to the timing information, AOA and / or the RSRPP.

[0065] The RSRP / RSRPP, timing information, Doppler information, AOA, and / or AOD can be general descriptions. Power related information report can be represented by (e.g., can include) the RSRP and / or RSRPP. Angle related information report can be represented by the AOA or AOD. Speed or Doppler information can be represented by the Doppler information. RSRP or RSRPP can refer to receiving power per path per angle or per path per angle per Doppler. In each measurement unit, one metric can refer to one or more of RSRPP or RSRP, one or more of timing information, one or more of Doppler information, one or more of AOA, and / or one or more of AOD. For example, a RSRP or a RSRPP can represent a signal receiver power corresponding to an angle and a path. The RSRP or RSRPP can represent a signal receiver power corresponding to an angle, a Doppler information and a path.

[0066] Each measurement unit can include:

[0067] ● One or more of RSRPP (per path RSRP) and / or RSRP;

[0068] ● One or more of Timing information, e.g., Timing of arrival (TOA) , or timing difference of arrival (TDOA) , or Rx-Tx timing difference;

[0069] ● One or more of Doppler information or Speed or phase rotation;

[0070] ● One or more of AOA;

[0071] ● One or more of AOD.

[0072] FIG. 9 illustrates an example scenario of two paths for a given target. Each sensing target (e.g., UAV) can reflect / produce multiple reflected signals, paths, and / or rays. For example, two paths can be detected  due to reflected signals from fuselage and tail portions respectively. As shown in FIG. 9, for each target UAV, two reflected paths from different parts of the UAV can return to the gNB receiver side. The receiver gNB can detect two paths for each target. The gNB can report four measurement units (MU) for example.

[0073] MU#0: {τ0 , AOA0, v0, possible RSRPP0} ;

[0074] MU#1: {τ1 , AOA’0, v’0, possible RSRPP’0} , marked in dash lines;

[0075] MU#2: {τ0 , AOA1, v1, possible RSRPP1} ;

[0076] MU#3: {τ1 , AOA’1, v’1, possible RSRPP’1} , marked in dash lines;

[0077] The first two MUs (MU#0 and MU#1) can correspond to UAV Target 0, and the last two MUs (MU#2 and MU#3) can correspond to UAV Target 1.

[0078] To sense more accurately, the system bandwidth utilized to support this can be very large, and a very large number of antenna elements can be used for AOA detection. Hence, base stations can usually detect and report many measurement units for one target. The measurement report overhead can be large. Informing the mobile device, UE, and / or node of a list of measurement difference ranges can be required / beneficial. The measurement difference range can include / cover or be for one or more of the following measurement difference values: RSRPP difference range, Doppler information difference range, angle measurement difference range, and / or timing measurement difference range. In some cases, a range can be a threshold value.

[0079] When the mobile device, UE, and / or node determines that the difference of the potential report values of two measurement units are within the indicated ranges for some of or all metrics (e.g., a metric is one of RSRPP, Doppler, Angle and timing) , mobile device, UE, and / or node can combine those measurement units and can report the combined measurement units. I some cases, the mobile device, UE, and / or node can associate those measurement units and can report the association.

[0080] As shown in FIG. 9, since the two measurement units #0 and #1 correspond to the same UAV target, the measurement report value differences can be small, especially on the Doppler, AOA, and / or τ. For example,

[0081] |τ0 -τ1| <= τthreshold;

[0082] | AOA0 -AOA’0 | <= AOAthreshold;

[0083] | v0 -v’0 | <= vthreshold;

[0084] | RSRPP0 -RSRPP’0 | <= RSRPPthreshold.

[0085] The mobile device, UE, and / or node can combine the two measurement units and can report the combined measurement units. The combined measurement units can be reported to a sensing function or a UE. For example, the measurement difference range values τthreshold, AOAthreshold, RSRPPthreshold, can be configured by the sensing function to the mobile device, UE, and / or node.

[0086] When the measurement value difference of two MUs is larger than or equal to the configured difference range threshold, the two MUs may be not associated (e.g., the two MUs are not considered to be for the same target object / area) . When the measurement value differences of the two MUs are smaller than the configured difference range threshold, the two MUs can be associated (e.g., the two MUs can be considered to relate / pertain to the same target object / area) . When the measurement value differences of the two MUs are larger than the configured difference range threshold, the two MUs may be not associated. When the measurement  value differences of the two MUs are smaller than or equal to the configured difference range threshold, the two MUs can be associated. After the determination, the mobile device, UE, and / or node can report any such associated measurement units in a combined way. For the non-associated MUs, the mobile device, UE, and / or node may not report the non-associated MUs in the combined way.

[0087] For the combined report, one solution can be to report a reference MU, and report difference / delta values for other associated MUs (e.g., relative to metrics / values of the reference MU) . For example,

[0088] ● MU#0: {τ0 = 400ns , AOA0= 30 degree, v0 = 200Hz, RSRPP0 = -50dB} which is the reference;

[0089] ● MU#1 for report: {Δτ1 = -2 ns , ΔAOA1= 2 degree, Δv1 = 4 Hz, ΔRSRPP1 = -4 dB} ;

[0090] ○ That means, the real MU#1 values should be {τ0 + Δτ1 or τ0 - Δτ1 , AOA0 + ΔAOA1 or AOA0 -ΔAOA1, v0 + Δv1 or v0 -Δv1, RSRPP0 + ΔRSRPP1 or RSRPP0 -ΔRSRPP1} ;

[0091] ● MU#2 for report: {Δτ2 = -3 ns , ΔAOA2= 3 degree, Δv2 = 5 Hz, ΔRSRPP2 = 2 dB} .

[0092] The reported overhead can hence be reduced. For instance, the SF can determine that the combined reported MUs are for one sensing target. For example, some of the measurement elements can be reported in a differential approach / format (e.g., timing and Doppler information can be reported in the differential approach / format, and angle information can be reported with absolute values / format) .

[0093] Reporting a value and a differential range for the associated or combined MUs can be used for combined reports. The reported differential range values can be within the configured measurement difference ranges.

[0094] MU#0: {τ0 = 400ns + range [-2, +3] , AOA0= 30 degree + range [-1, 2] , v0 = 200Hz + range [-5, 6] , RSRPP0 = -50dB + range [-4, +1] } .

[0095] The Doppler information can be the same for the associated or combined MUs. The mobile device, UE, and / or node can report a value and a differential range for one or more of the timing, angle (e.g., AOA and / or AOD) and RSRP and / or RSRPP. Some measurement elements (e.g., RSRP or RSRPP) may not be included in each MU.

[0096] In some cases, the mobile device, UE, and / or node can further report the uncertainty values for some measurement elements of the MU or the combined MU. The uncertainty can refer to the confidence level of the report measurement elements. For example, the mobile device, UE, and / or node can report an uncertainty for Doppler information for a combined MU, such as [-5, +5] Hz, which can mean that the uncertainty of the reported Doppler information may be within [-5, +5] Hz.

[0097] Example Implementation Features 2

[0098] The measurement units can be grouped such that the MUs within one group can be associated, and MUs in different groups can be independent. For example, the difference of some or all measurement element values of MUs in one group can be within the configured measurement difference ranges. The measurement element can refer to the timing, angle, Doppler and / or RSRPP.

[0099] FIG. 10 illustrates an example implementation of grouping-based reporting. One measurement group can correspond to one sensing target as shown in FIG. 10. To identify or distinguish the different sensing targets, the association information among measurement report units can be reported to the sensing function or the UE. The grouping information of the measurement report units can be reported to the sensing function for SF-based sensing, or to the UE for UE-based sensing. An identification for each MU can be assigned and / or reported. The MUs with the same identification can be assumed to be in one group or to be associated.

[0100] For the grouping-based reporting, the MUs can be grouped with the same or similar values of one, two, three, or four (e.g., one or more) of the timing, angle, Doppler, and / or RSRPP measurements in to one group. For example, the MUs with the same or similar values of timing and angle measurement elements can be grouped into one group. The measurement side report can include independent measurement values for Doppler and / or RSRPP.

[0101] Example Implementation Features 3

[0102] FIG. 11 illustrates an example implementation of multiple sensing areas. As shown in FIG. 11, sensing functions can provide the gNB and / or the UE with the potential sensing area or the rough location of potential sensing targets. When the potential sensing area or the rough location of potential sensing targets is far from the gNB or UE, then the gNB or UE may receive multiple measurement units with very similar reported values (e.g., the two paths can be very close for sensing area 1) . If the potential sensing area or the rough location of potential sensing targets is near the gNB or UE, then the gNB or UE may receive multiple measurement units with very relatively different reported values (e.g., the two paths are not close for sensing area 2 compared with sensing area 1) .

[0103] The measurement difference range can be configured per a (or for each) sensing area, sensing target, reference signal (RS) resource, RS resource set, RS resource configuration, sensing measurement request configuration, timing measurement value and / or distance value. For example, each RS resource can be directed towards different beam directions which can be used for sensing UAV (s) in the air and car (s) on the ground respectively. The range can be separately configured.

[0104] The measurement difference range can be configured to be per (e.g., for each) sensing area or per sensing target. A plurality of measurement difference ranges can be configured. The measurement side can select a measurement difference range based on the estimated timing / distance measurement value. For example, when two lists of measurement difference ranges are configured and the estimated timing measurement value is small (e.g., smaller than a threshold) , then the second list can be used; when the estimated timing measurement value is large (e.g., larger than a threshold) , then the first list can be used. The selection of the measurement difference range can depend on the distance between the transmitter or receiver, and / or the sensing area and / or sensing target. The sensing receiver device can select one of the first measurement difference range or the second measurement difference range according to a timing measurement value or distance value.

[0105] Example Implementation Features 4

[0106] As shown in FIG. 8, two targets may correspond to the same path or timing but may include different values for remaining measurement elements (e.g., AOA, Doppler and RSRPP, etc. ) . Hence, a reporting  mechanism can be to report M1 number of AOA information, M2 number of Doppler information, and / or M3 number of RSRPP information for each path, such that there can be a mapping between the M1 number of AOA information and the M2 number of Doppler information, or a mapping among the M1 number of AOA information, the M2 number of Doppler information, and / or the M3 number of RSRPP information. M1, M2 and M3 can be positive integer number. In some cases, M2 = M3 > M1. In some cases, M2=M3 and can be multiple times of M1.

[0107] For example, as shown below, in one measurement report, for each path, there can be a one-to-one mapping between each AOA and Doppler values.

[0108] ■ {τ0, [AOA0, v0, possible RSRPP0] , [AOA1, v1, possible RSRPP1] } ; or

[0109] ■ {τ0, [AOA0, v0] , [AOA1, v1] , possible RSRPP0} .

[0110] In another example, M1= 2 number of AOA information can map to M2=4 number of AOA information and M3=4 number of RSRP information, as shown in the following:

[0111] ● τ0:

[0112] ● AOA0

[0113] ○ v0, RSRPP0;

[0114] ○ v1, RSRPP1.

[0115] ● AOA1

[0116] ○ v2, RSRPP2;

[0117] ○ v3, RSRPP3.

[0118] FIG. 12 illustrates an example process of UAV paths with multiple Dopplers values. UAVs can be sensing targets where each reflected path can correspond to two types of Doppler information from a fuselage and / or a propeller of the UAV respectively. For each path, one AOA and multiple Doppler values can be reported. In a measurement report, there can be one-to-X mapping between AOA and Doppler values. In another example, one AOA can be mapped to X Dopplers and / or X RSRPP.

[0121] Example Implementation Features 5

[0122] FIG. 13 illustrates an example scenario for UAV tracking. For Integrated Sensing and Communication (ISAC) , one important use case can include using gNB or UE for target tracking. Target tracking can include detecting whether a sensing target is present, and / or the location of the target. Target tracking can include tracking the sensing when the sensing target is moving as shown in FIG. 13 where the UAV can move in increments from t0 to t1 in different time.

[0123] The gNB can use the reflected sensing signal to detect the path timing, angle, Doppler and / or power information, and can report the measurement results from t0 to t1 to the SF and / or UE. The reporting overhead may be large. One solution can be to set up the association of the measurement report units at different times and / or different measurement reports and / or in different measurement report instances. After the SF and / or UE  receives the measurement report units, the SF and / or UE can identify which measurement units are associated. The SF and / or UE can assume that the associated measurement units are for the same target. For example, the receiver side (e.g., gNB or UE) can report the association information of multiple measurement results where the measurement results can be reported at different times, slots, and / or in different measurement reports. The association can be implemented by an identifier of each measurement unit. The measurement units with the same identifier can be associated. For example, the following two MUs can be reported in slot i and slot j, or in different measurement reports.

[0124] ● MU#0:

[0125] ○ {τ0, AOA0, v0, RSRPP0 } ;

[0126] ○ Association identifier = x.

[0127] ● MU#1:

[0128] ○ {τ1, AOA1, v1, RSRPP1 } ;

[0129] ○ Association identifier = y.

[0130] If x = y, it can be assumed that the MU#0 and MU#1 are associated. The two associated measurement reports for different times can be for the same sensing target (e.g., the same UAV for UAV tracking) .

[0131] The associated measurement units can correspond to at least one of independent measurement time instances, measurement time occasions, measurement reports, transmission-reception points (TRPs) , user equipment (UEs) , frequency layers, carriers, reference signal (RS) resource sets, resources, and / or independent combinations of one or more of TRPs, UEs, frequency layers, carriers, RS resource sets, or resources. For example, the measurement units from different frequency layers can be for the same target.

[0132] The MUs in multiple measurement time instances, measurement time occasions, measurement reports, transmission-reception points (TRPs) , user equipment (UEs) , frequency layers, carriers, reference signal (RS) resource sets, resources, and / or independent combinations of one or more of TRPs, UEs, frequency layers, carriers, RS resource sets, or resources can be grouped.

[0133] When the UAV flies quickly at a time, the measurement values of two MUs can be different. The receiver side may not be able to ensure whether the two MUs are associated or not. Then, a confidence level indication for an identified association can be reported. The confidence level indication can be a value that can include a decimal between 0 and 1 (including 0 and 1) . For example, 0.2 can indicate 20%certainty for the association between the two MUs; 1 can indicate 100%certainty for the association between the two MUs.

[0134] To reduce report overhead, some of measurement report values of MU#1 (which can be associated with MU#0) can be based on the report values of MU#0. The differential values relative to the report values of MU#1 can be reported in MU#0.

[0135] ● MU#0:

[0136] ○ {τ0, AOA0, v0, RSRPP0 } ;

[0137] ○ Association identifier = x.

[0138] ● MU#1:

[0139] ○ {Δτ1, ΔAOA1, Δv1, ΔRSRPP1 } ;

[0140] ○ Association identifier = x:

[0142] ■ It is noted that in some cases, some of measurement elements can be reported as a differential value (e.g., timing) , and other measurement elements can be reported with absolute values (e.g., angle, Doppler and / or RSRPP, etc. ) .

[0143] Example Implementation Features 6

[0144] FIG. 14 illustrates an example implementation of combining measurement units from RS resources from different TRPs. To reduce measurement report overhead can be to associate and / or combine measurement reports from a list of TRPs, a list of RS resource sets of the same or different TRPs, a list of RS resources of the same or different RS resource sets, and / or TRPs. As shown in FIG. 14, gNB0 and gNB1 can transmit two RS resources towards the same target and / or target area, and the receiver UE can measure the reflected signals from the gNB0 and gNB1 through the same target0. The UE can that determine the two measured signals to be associated. The UE can combine the measurements and report the measurements for overhead reduction.

[0145] The single measurement unit can be reported with a list, e.g., alist of TRPs, a list of RS resource sets of the same or different TRPs, a list of RS resources of the same or different RS resource sets, TRPs, and / or a list of time stamps. The same target can be measured based on the two or more resources from the different TRPs and / resource sets. For the UL, the single measurement unit can be reported with a list: e.g., a list of UE IDs, a list of RS resource sets of the same or different UE IDs, a list of RS resources of the same or different RS resource sets, and / or UE IDs. The list of time stamps (e.g., 2 or more) can be reported to imply multiple MUs in different time stamps are associated, or similar, or for the same target. The single measurement unit can be reported with a list, e.g., a list of time stamps, list of transmission-reception points (TRP) identifiers (IDs) , list of frequency layer IDs, list of resource set IDs, list of resource IDs, a list of user equipment (UE) IDs, or a list of a combination of one or more of time stamps, TRP IDs, frequency layer IDs, resource set IDs, resource IDs, and / or UE IDs.

[0156] Example Implementation Features 7

[0157] For some sensing algorithms, one or more configured or pre-configured parameters can be used to get the sensing measurement results. For different parameter values, the measurement results may be different. The parameter (s) can be configured by the sensing function to a TRP or UE.

[0158] It should be understood that any number of features from any one or more example implementations can be combined in any order or manner, and are in no way limited to a specific example implementation.

[0159] FIG. 15 illustrates an example of sensing measurement results based on different configurations. Two power threshold values can be used for incident angle estimations. The sensing results can be different based on the two power threshold values. The threshold can refer to one or more of a power threshold, RSRP or RSRPP threshold, timing threshold, distance threshold, angle threshold, and / or Doppler information threshold. The threshold can be replaced by one or more of power range, RSRP or RSRPP range, timing range, distance range, angle range, and / or Doppler information range. The threshold can be replaced by the number of targets.

[0160] The sensing computation unit (e.g., in a receiver or SF) can access or determine the configured or pre-configured parameters. The receiver (e.g., wireless communication device, UE, mobile device, node, sensing measurement device, sensing receiver) can report the parameter together with the measurement results and / or measurement unit.

[0170] For sensing, a mobile device and / or node can provide a list of measurement units (MU, or names as measurement report unit) where each measurement unit can include:

[0171] ● RSRPP (per path RSRP) ;

[0172] ● Timing information, e.g., Timing of arrival (TOA) , or timing difference of arrival (TDOA) , or Rx-Tx timing difference;

[0173] ● Doppler information or Speed or phase rotation:

[0174] ○ This Doppler information can include more than one values.

[0175] ● AOA.

[0177] The measurement units can be grouped where MUs within one group can be associated, and MUs in different groups can be independent. An identification for each MU can be reported such that MUs with the same identification can be assumed to be in one group or to be associated.

[0178] A reporting mechanism can be to report M1 number of AOA information, M2 number of Doppler information, and M3 number of RSRPP information for each path, such that there can be mapping between M1 number of AOA information and M2 number of Doppler information, or mapping among M1 number of AOA information, M2 number of Doppler information, and M3 number of RSRPP information.

[0187] While various embodiments of the present solution have been described above, it should be understood that they have been presented by way of example only, and not by way of limitation. Likewise, the various diagrams may depict an example architectural or configuration, which are provided to enable persons of ordinary skill in the art to understand example features and functions of the present solution. Such persons would understand, however, that the solution is not restricted to the illustrated example architectures or configurations, but can be implemented using a variety of alternative architectures and configurations. Additionally, as would be understood by persons of ordinary skill in the art, one or more features of one embodiment can be combined with one or more features of another embodiment described herein. Thus, the breadth and scope of the present disclosure should not be limited by any of the above-described illustrative embodiments.

[0188] It is also understood that any reference to an element herein using a designation such as "first, " "second, " and so forth does not generally limit the quantity or order of those elements. Rather, these designations can be used herein as a convenient means of distinguishing between two or more elements or instances of an element. Thus, a reference to first and second elements does not mean that only two elements can be employed, or that the first element must precede the second element in some manner.

[0189] Additionally, a person having ordinary skill in the art would understand that information and signals can be represented using any of a variety of different technologies and techniques. For example, data, instructions, commands, information, signals, bits and symbols, for example, which may be referenced in the above description can be represented by voltages, currents, electromagnetic waves, magnetic fields or particles, optical fields or particles, or any combination thereof.

[0190] A person of ordinary skill in the art would further appreciate that any of the various illustrative logical blocks, modules, processors, means, circuits, methods and functions described in connection with the aspects disclosed herein can be implemented by electronic hardware (e.g., a digital implementation, an analog implementation, or a combination of the two) , firmware, various forms of program or design code incorporating instructions (which can be referred to herein, for convenience, as "software" or a "software module) , or any combination of these techniques. To clearly illustrate this interchangeability of hardware, firmware and software, various illustrative components, blocks, modules, circuits, and steps have been described above generally in terms of their functionality. Whether such functionality is implemented as hardware, firmware or software, or a combination of these techniques, depends upon the particular application and design constraints imposed on the overall system. Skilled artisans can implement the described functionality in various ways for each particular application, but such implementation decisions do not cause a departure from the scope of the present disclosure.

[0191] Furthermore, a person of ordinary skill in the art would understand that various illustrative logical blocks, modules, devices, components and circuits described herein can be implemented within or performed by an integrated circuit (IC) that can include a general purpose processor, a digital signal processor (DSP) , an application specific integrated circuit (ASIC) , a field programmable gate array (FPGA) or other programmable logic device, or any combination thereof. The logical blocks, modules, and circuits can further include antennas and / or transceivers to communicate with various components within the network or within the device. A general purpose processor can be a microprocessor, but in the alternative, the processor can be any conventional processor, controller, or state machine. A processor can also be implemented as a combination of computing devices, e.g., a combination of a DSP and a microprocessor, a plurality of microprocessors, one or more microprocessors in conjunction with a DSP core, or any other suitable configuration to perform the functions described herein.

[0192] If implemented in software, the functions can be stored as one or more instructions or code on a computer-readable medium. Thus, the steps of a method or algorithm disclosed herein can be implemented as software stored on a computer-readable medium. Computer-readable media includes both computer storage media and communication media including any medium that can be enabled to transfer a computer program or code from one place to another. A storage media can be any available media that can be accessed by a computer. By way of example, and not limitation, such computer-readable media can include RAM, ROM, EEPROM, CD-ROM or other optical disk storage, magnetic disk storage or other magnetic storage devices, or any other medium that can be used to store desired program code in the form of instructions or data structures and that can be accessed by a computer.

[0193] In this document, the term "module" as used herein, refers to software, firmware, hardware, and any combination of these elements for performing the associated functions described herein. Additionally, for purpose of discussion, the various modules are described as discrete modules; however, as would be apparent to one of ordinary skill in the art, two or more modules may be combined to form a single module that performs the associated functions according to embodiments of the present solution.

[0194] Additionally, memory or other storage, as well as communication components, may be employed in embodiments of the present solution. It will be appreciated that, for clarity purposes, the above description  has described embodiments of the present solution with reference to different functional units and processors. However, it will be apparent that any suitable distribution of functionality between different functional units, processing logic elements or domains may be used without detracting from the present solution. For example, functionality illustrated to be performed by separate processing logic elements, or controllers, may be performed by the same processing logic element, or controller. Hence, references to specific functional units are only references to a suitable means for providing the described functionality, rather than indicative of a strict logical or physical structure or organization.

[0195] Various modifications to the embodiments described in this disclosure will be readily apparent to those skilled in the art, and the general principles defined herein can be applied to other embodiments without departing from the scope of this disclosure. Thus, the disclosure is not intended to be limited to the embodiments shown herein, but is to be accorded the widest scope consistent with the novel features and principles disclosed herein, as recited in the claims below.
