AI Technical Summary

Technical Problem

In non-terrestrial networks (NTNs) with longer and varying round-trip times, half-duplex devices face challenges in determining whether uplink and downlink transmissions will collide, making it difficult for the network to manage timing advance and prioritize receptions or transmissions effectively.

Method used

A system information window is configured with prioritized monitoring occasions for downlink control information, and a collision handling window is established to determine the prioritized link direction based on criteria such as monitoring occasion position, number of occasions, or previous reception of system information blocks, ensuring proper prioritization of receptions or transmissions.

Benefits of technology

This approach allows half-duplex devices to efficiently manage collisions by prioritizing important information receptions over uplink transmissions, maintaining network synchronization and reducing resource blocking, thereby enhancing communication efficiency in NTNs.

Description

MECHANISM FOR MONITORING SYSTEM INFORMATIONFIELD

[0001] Various example embodiments of the present disclosure generally relate to the field of telecommunication and in particular, to methods, devices, apparatuses and computer readable storage medium for monitoring system information.BACKGROUND

[0002] A half-duplex device cannot receive and transmit simultaneously. In terrestrial networks, these devices are relatively easy to handle because the round-trip time (RTT) in such a network is limited and thus the network can determine whether uplink and downlink will collide. In traditional terrestrial networks, a gNB would also be able to keep track of the timing advance commands that has been provided to the user equipment (UE) over time and therefore have a reasonable understanding of the timing advance that is being applied at the UE side. However, the challenge is that in non-terrestrial networks (NTNs) , the RTT is longer and with large variation within the cell. For example, a differential delay in a cell deployed by a satellite at 600 km altitude exceeds 3 ms. Such a large uncertainty makes it difficult for the network to determine whether uplink and downlink transmissions will collide in a specific UE.SUMMARY

[0045] As used herein, the term “network device” refers to a node in a communication network via which a terminal device accesses the network and receives services therefrom. The network device may refer to a base station (BS) or an access point (AP) , for example, a node B (NodeB or NB) , an evolved NodeB (eNodeB or eNB) , an NR NB (also referred to as a gNB) , a Remote Radio Unit (RRU) , a radio header (RH) , a remote radio head (RRH) , a relay, an Integrated Access and Backhaul (IAB) node, a low power node such as a femto, a pico, a non-terrestrial network (NTN) or non-ground network device such as a satellite network device, a low earth orbit (LEO) satellite and a geosynchronous earth orbit (GEO) satellite, an aircraft network device, and so forth, depending on the applied terminology and technology. In some example embodiments, radio access network (RAN) split architecture comprises a Centralized Unit (CU) and a Distributed Unit (DU) at an IAB donor node. An IAB node comprises a Mobile Terminal (IAB-MT) part that behaves like a UE toward the parent node, and a DU part of an IAB node behaves like a base station toward the next-hop IAB node.

[0046] The term “terminal device” refers to any end device that may be capable of wireless communication. By way of example rather than limitation, a terminal device may also be referred to as a communication device, user equipment (UE) , a Subscriber Station (SS) , a Portable Subscriber Station, a Mobile Station (MS) , or an Access Terminal (AT) . The terminal device may include, but not limited to, a mobile phone, a cellular phone, a smart phone, voice over IP (VoIP) phones, wireless local loop phones, a tablet, a wearable terminal device, a personal digital assistant (PDA) , portable computers, desktop computer, image capture terminal devices such as digital cameras, gaming terminal devices, music storage and playback appliances, vehicle-mounted wireless terminal devices, wireless endpoints, mobile stations, laptop-embedded equipment (LEE) , laptop-mounted equipment (LME) , USB dongles, smart devices, wireless customer-premises equipment (CPE) , an Internet of Things (IoT) device, a watch or other wearable, a head-mounted display (HMD) , a vehicle, a drone, a medical device and applications (e.g., remote surgery) , an industrial device and applications (e.g., a robot and / or other wireless devices operating in an industrial and / or an automated processing chain contexts) , a consumer electronics device, a device operating on commercial and / or industrial wireless networks, and the like. The terminal device may also correspond to a Mobile Termination (MT) part of an IAB node (e.g., a relay node) . In the following description, the terms “terminal  device” , “communication device” , “terminal” , “user equipment” and “UE” may be used interchangeably.

[0047] As used herein, the term “resource, ” “transmission resource, ” “resource block, ” “physical resource block” (PRB) , “uplink resource, ” or “downlink resource” may refer to any resource for performing a communication, for example, a communication between a terminal device and a network device, such as a resource in time domain, a resource in frequency domain, a resource in space domain, a resource in code domain, or any other combination of the time, frequency, space and / or code domain resource enabling a communication, and the like. In the following, unless explicitly stated, a resource in both frequency domain and time domain will be used as an example of a transmission resource for describing some example embodiments of the present disclosure. It is noted that example embodiments of the present disclosure are equally applicable to other resources in other domains.

[0048] The term “system information block (SIB) ” used herein may refer to information that contains radio resource configuration (RRC) information which is common for all UEs. The term “a system information window” may refer to a time duration where the system information can be received / transmitted. The term “monitoring occasion” used herein may refer to a set of time-domain resources where control information (such as, SIB or downlink control information (DCI) ) can be monitored / received. The term “collision handling window” used herein may refer to a time duration where a transmission collision is handled / solved based on a configured rule.

[0049] FIG. 1 illustrates an example communication environment 100 in which example embodiments of the present disclosure can be implemented. In the communication environment 100, a plurality of communication devices, including a first device 110 and a second device 120, can communicate with each other. In the example of FIG. 1, the first device 110 may be a UE and the second device 120 may be a base station / gNB serving the UE. The serving area of the network device 120 may be called a cell 102.

[0050] It is to be understood that the number of devices and their connections shown in FIG. 1 are only for the purpose of illustration without suggesting any limitation. The communication environment 100 may include any suitable number of devices configured to implementing example embodiments of the present disclosure. Although not shown, it would be appreciated that one or more additional devices may be located in the cell 102,  and one or more additional cells may be deployed in the communication environment 100. It is noted that although illustrated as a network device, the second device 120 may be another device than a network device. Although illustrated as a terminal device, the first device 110 may be another device than a terminal device.

[0051] In the following, for the purpose of illustration, some example embodiments are described with the first device 110 operating as a UE and the second device 120 operating as a base station. However, in some example embodiments, operations described in connection with a terminal device may be implemented at a network device or other device, and operations described in connection with a network device may be implemented at a terminal device or other device.

[0052] In some example embodiments, a link from the second device 120 to the first device 110 is referred to as a downlink (DL) , while a link from the first device 110 to the second device 120 is referred to as an uplink (UL) . In DL, the second device 120 is a transmitting (TX) device (or a transmitter) and the first device 110 is a receiving (RX) device (or a receiver) . In UL, the first device 110 is a TX device (or a transmitter) and the second device 120 is a RX device (or a receiver) .

[0053] Communications in the communication environment 100 may be implemented according to any proper communication protocol (s) , comprising, but not limited to, cellular communication protocols of the first generation (1G) , the second generation (2G) , the third generation (3G) , the fourth generation (4G) , the fifth generation (5G) , 5.5G, the sixth generation (6G) , and the like, wireless local network communication protocols such as Institute for Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE) 802.11 and the like, and / or any other protocols currently known or to be developed in the future. Moreover, the communication may utilize any proper wireless communication technology, comprising but not limited to: Code Division Multiple Access (CDMA) , Frequency Division Multiple Access (FDMA) , Time Division Multiple Access (TDMA) , Frequency Division Duplex (FDD) , Time Division Duplex (TDD) , Multiple-Input Multiple-Output (MIMO) , Orthogonal Frequency Division Multiple (OFDM) , Discrete Fourier Transform spread OFDM (DFT-s-OFDM) and / or any other technologies currently known or to be developed in the future.

[0054] As mentioned above, the half-duplex UE (HD-UE) is proposed. A HD-UE in paired spectrum may not be capable of simultaneous transmissions and receptions on a  serving cell with paired spectrum. A HD-UE may not expect to detect a downlink control information (DCI) format scheduling a reception in a set of symbols and detect a DCI format scheduling a transmission in any symbol from the set of symbols. If a HD-UE is configured by higher layers to receive a physical downlink control channel (PDCCH) , or physical downlink shared channel (PDSCH) , or channel state information reference signal (CSI-RS) , or downlink positioning reference signal (DL PRS) in a set of symbols, the HD-UE may receive the PDCCH, or PDSCH, or CSI-RS, or DL PRS if the HD-UE does not detect a DCI format that indicates to the HD-UE to transmit a PUSCH, or PUCCH, or PRACH, or SRS in at least one symbol of the set of symbols; otherwise, the HD-UE does not receive the PDCCH, or PDSCH, or CSI-RS, or DL PRS in the set of symbols.

[0055] In some solutions, for type B half-duplex FDD operation, guard periods, each referred to as a half-duplex guard subframe, are created by the UE by: not receiving a downlink subframe immediately preceding an uplink subframe from the same UE, and not receiving a downlink subframe immediately following an uplink subframe from the same UE. One approach to handling the timing uncertainty is that the UE reports the Timing Advance (TA) it applies, such that the base station can estimate when a UE will start the uplink transmission and receive a downlink transmission. The TA report may be specified for both NR and IoT NTN and can thus be used to enable the base station whether there will be a collision.

[0056] In some solutions, in NTN, the UE is responsible for pre-compensating uplink transmissions by setting its TA based on the current UE position, satellite position and feeder link delay. The two latter are part of the satellite assistance information, which is provided to the UE via SIB19 and is essential System Information for the UE.

[0057] In some solutions, the UE may apply the system information (SI) acquisition procedure to acquire positioning assistance data information. The UE in RRC_IDLE and RRC_INACTIVE may ensure having a valid version of (at least) the master information block (MIB) , SIB1 through SIB4, SIB5 (if the UE supports E-UTRA) , SIB11 (if the UE is configured for idle / inactive measurements) , SIB12 (if UE is capable of NR sidelink communication / discovery and is configured by upper layers to receive or transmit NR sidelink communication / discovery) , and SIB13, SIB14 (if UE is capable of V2X sidelink communication and is configured by upper layers to receive or transmit V2X sidelink communication) , SIB15 (if UE is configured by upper layers to report disaster roaming related information) , SIB16 (if the UE is capable of slice-based cell reselection and the  UE receives NSAG information for cell reselection from upper layer) , SIB17 (if the UE is using TRS resources for power saving in RRC_IDLE and RRC_INACTIVE) , SIB19 (if UE is accessing NR via NTN access) and SIB22 (for ATG access) . Upon receiving SIB19 in an NTN cell, the UE in RRC_CONNECTED may: start or restart T430 for serving cell with the timer value set to ntn-UlSyncValidityDuration for the serving cell from the subframe indicated by epochTime for the serving cell. If SatSwitchWithReSync and t-Service are included, and the UE may support hard satellite switch with resynchronization, and if t-ServiceStart is included and the UE supports soft satellite switch with resynchronization, the UE may perform the satellite switch with resynchronization between the time indicated by t-ServiceStart and the time indicated by t-Service for the serving cell. Alternatively, the UE may perform the satellite switch with resynchronizationat the time indicated by t-Service for the serving cell. The UE may attempt to re-acquire SIB19 before the end of the duration indicated by ntn-UlSyncValidityDuration and epochTime by UE implementation.

[0058] In some solutions, for SI message acquisition PDCCH monitoring occasion (s) are determined according to searchSpaceOtherSystemInformation. If searchSpaceOtherSystemInformation is set to zero, PDCCH monitoring occasions for SI message reception in SI-window may be same as PDCCH monitoring occasions for SIB1. If searchSpaceOtherSystemInformation is not set to zero, PDCCH monitoring occasions for SI message may be determined based on search space indicated by searchSpaceOtherSystemInformation. PDCCH monitoring occasions for SI message which are not overlapping with UL symbols (determined according to tdd-UL-DL-ConfigurationCommon) are sequentially numbered from one in the SI window. The [x×N+K] th PDCCH monitoring occasion (s) for SI message in SI-window may correspond to the Kth transmitted synchronization signal block (SSB) , where x = 0, 1, ... X-1, K = 1, 2, ... N, N is the number of actual transmitted SSBs determined according to ssb-PositionsInBurst in SIB1 and X is equal to CEIL (number of PDCCH monitoring occasions in SI-window / N) . The actual transmitted SSBs are sequentially numbered from one in ascending order of their SSB indexes. The UE may assume that, in the SI window, PDCCH for an SI message is transmitted in at least one PDCCH monitoring occasion corresponding to each transmitted SSB and thus the selection of SSB for the reception SI messages is up to UE implementation.

[0059] When acquiring an SI message, the UE may:

[0060] 1> determine the start of the SI-window for the concerned SI message as follows:

[0061] 2> if the concerned SI message is configured in the schedulingInfoList:

[0062] 3> for the concerned SI message, determine the number n which corresponds to the order of entry in the list of SI messages configured by schedulingInfoList in si-SchedulingInfo in SIB1;

[0063] 3> determine the integer value x = (n-1) x w, where w is the si-WindowLength;

[0064] 3> the SI-window starts at the slot #a, where a = x mod N, in the radio frame for which SFN mod T = FLOOR (x / N) , where T is the si-Periodicity of the concerned SI message and N is the number of slots in a radio frame as specified in technical specification (TS) 38.213

[0013] ;

[0065] 2> else if the concerned SI message is configured in the schedulingInfoList2;

[0066] 3> determine the integer value x = (si-WindowPosition -1) x w, where w is the si-WindowLength;

[0067] 3> the SI-window starts at the slot #a, where a = x mod N, in the radio frame for which SFN mod T = FLOOR (x / N) , where T is the si-Periodicity of the concerned SI message and N is the number of slots in a radio frame as specified in TS 38.213

[0013] ;

[0068] .o.

[0069] 1> receive the PDCCH containing the scheduling RNTI, i.e. SI-RNTI in the PDCCH monitoring occasion (s) for SI message acquisition, from the start of the SI-window and continue until the end of the SI-window whose absolute length in time is given by si-WindowLength, or until the SI message was received;

[0070] 1> if the SI message was not received by the end of the SI-window, repeat reception at the next SI-window occasion for the concerned SI message in the current modification period;

[0071] 1> if all the SIB (s) and / or posSIB (s) requested in DedicatedSIBRequest message have been acquired:

[0072] 2> stop timer T350, ifrunning.

[0073] In some solutions, the UE may be only required to acquire broadcasted SI message if the UE can acquire it without disrupting unicast or MBS multicast data reception, i.e. the broadcast and unicast / MBS multicast beams are quasi co-located. The UE may not be required to monitor PDCCH monitoring occasion (s) corresponding to each transmitted SSB in SI-window. If the concerned SI message was not received in the current modification period, handling of SI message acquisition is left to UE implementation. A  UE in RRC_CONNECTED may stop the PDCCH monitoring during the SI window for the concerned SI message when the requested SIB (s) are acquired.

[0074] This is problematic in NTN, where the UE has to maintain a valid SIB19 in order to be able to pre-compensate uplink transmissions correctly, i.e. UE needs to read new SIB19 before the validity timer of SIB19 expires. If the UE does not have a valid SIB19 it is not allowed to transmit the scheduled PUSCH, PUCCH, physical random access channel (PRACH) or sounding reference signal (SRS) anyway (since the expiry of the validity timer for the ephemeris information will cause the UE to automatically lose its UL synchronization) .

[0075] An example solution would be to change the rule such that SIB19 is prioritized, but the challenge is that the network is not aware when the UE is attempting to acquire the SIB19. The expected network configuration for a network would be that the gNB would provide the SIB19 with a much shorter periodicity compared to the validity duration. The re-acquisition of SIB19 is based on the validity duration, which is conveyed in the information element NTN-Config.

[0076] As can be seen the validity duration range is 5 seconds to several minutes and the number of SI-windows within such a range can thus be large, since the SI-periodicity is 8-512 radio frames (aradio frame being 10 ms long) . Furthermore, the SI window length is 5-1280 slots and according to the search space configuration there can be many PDCCH monitoring occasions (for scheduling the SIB) within each SI window. If a network configures for SIB19 to be provided roughly every 1 second, while the validity duration is 10 seconds the UE has the opportunity to monitor every second, but would in principle only need to actually read the SIB19 every 10 seconds (or even 20 seconds in case the gNB provides ephemeris information pointing into the future under the condition that the UE supports “backwards propagation” ) . However, the network will not know during which of the SIB scheduling windows during a validity duration the UE will actually read the SIB19.

[0077] This means the network scheduler would have to block a very large amount of uplink resources, because they collide with a PDCCH monitoring occasion, which can potentially include a SIB19 scheduling which the UE potentially needs (due to the validity timer approaching expiry) . Further, whether existing handling rules for the following cases may be reused or updated when taking into account TA mismatch between actual  TA used by UE and assumed TA at the gNB based on available TA report: Case 1: Dynamically scheduled DL reception collides with semi-statically configured UL transmission; Case 2: Semi-statically configured DL reception collides with dynamically scheduled UL transmission; Case 3: Semi-statically configured DL reception collides with semi-statically configured UL transmission; Case 4: Dynamically scheduled DL reception collides with dynamic scheduled UL transmission; Case 5: Configured SSB collides with dynamically scheduled or configured UL transmission; Case 6: Dynamic or semi-static DL collides with valid RO; Case 7: Collision due to direction switching.

[0078] In an example solution, certain SI windows may be served, which means the current collision rule would not apply within the window and instead the UE can prioritize the reception of the SIB19. The solution does not consider when the individual UE previously acquired the SIB19 and therefore it may be inconvenient to some UEs that their preferred SIB19 SI window is far from a reserved window, which results in the UE receiving the SIB19 “too early” relative to a potential validity timer expiry. Furthermore, a SI window (being up to 1280 slots long) may include many PDCCH monitoring occasions (depending on the search space configuration) of which the UE only would need one or a few to acquire the SIB19. It is therefore suboptimal to block all PDCCH monitoring occasions in a SI window.

[0079] In accordance with some example embodiments of the present disclosure, there is provided a solution for collision handling. In particular, a UE can be configured by the network to prioritize monitoring of a subset of the configured PDCCH monitoring occasions within the SI window. Further it also proposes a collision handling window in which UE will prioritize a configured direction (i.e. UL or DL or other e.g. sidelink) , where the UE can prioritize PDCCH monitoring and related PDSCH over scheduled UL transmission in the window. In this way, it can solve the collision, thereby ensuring the reception of important information. Further, it enables the network and UE to have an aligned understanding of when the UE will prioritize SIB19 reception over uplink transmissions.

[0080] Example embodiments of the disclosure will be described in detail below with reference to the accompanying drawings. For the purpose of illustrations, example embodiments are described with reference to SIB reception. It is noted that example embodiments of the present disclosure can be implemented in any proper scenarios.

[0081] FIG. 2 illustrates signaling flow 200 of distributed feedback in accordance with some example embodiments of the present disclosure. For the purposes of illustrations, the signaling flow 200 is described with reference to the first device 110 and the second device 120 shown in FIG. 1.

[0082] The second device 120 transmits (2010) a first configuration of a system information window to the first device 110. In other words, the first device 110 receives (2010) the first configuration of the system information window from the second device 120. In some embodiments, the first configuration may indicate a start time instant of the system information window and a time duration of the system information window. Alternatively, or in addition, the first configuration may indicate the start time instant and an end time instant of the system information window. For example, as shown in FIG. 3A and FIG. 3B, the first configuration may indicate the system information window 310. Table 1 below shows an example of the first configuration of the system information window. It is noted that Table 1 is only an example not limitation.

[0083] Table 1

[0084] The system information window includes a plurality of monitoring occasions for downlink control information (DCI) scheduling a SIB. For example, as shown in FIG. 3A and FIG. 3B, the system information window 310 may include monitoring occasions 320-1, 320-2, 320-3, 320-4, 320-5, 320-6, 320-7 and 320-8. The DCI scheduling the SIB may be transmitted / received on one or more of these monitoring occasions. It is noted that the  number of monitoring occasions shown in FIG. 3A and FIG. 3B is only an example not limitation. Table 2 below shows an example of information element (IE) search space. It is noted that Table 2 is only an example not limitation. As can be seen the PDCCH monitoring is defined with a periodicity in slots, a duration in slots and then number of symbols to monitor PDCCH per slot of the duration. Thus, there can be one or more PDCCH monitoring occasions for the DCI scheduling the SIB.

[0085] Table 2

[0086] In some example embodiments, a set of monitoring occasions may be prioritized over uplink transmission within the system information window. In other word, if the uplink transmission collides with at least one of: the reception of SIB and / or monitoring the DCI scheduling the SIB in the set of monitoring occasions, the first device 110 may prefer monitoring the DCI and / or the reception of SIB instead of the uplink transmission.

[0087] In some example embodiments, the second device 120 may transmit (2015) a second configuration indicating a set of monitoring occasions in the plurality of monitoring occasions to the first device 110. In other words, the first device 110 may receive (2015) the second configuration from the second device 120.

[0088] In some example embodiments, the first device 110 may prioritize the X first monitoring occasions within the system information window over scheduled uplink transmission, while the remaining Y monitoring occasions are ignored if the second device 120 schedules the uplink transmission. In this case, X and Y are integer numbers and the sum of X and Y may be equal to the number of monitoring occasions in the system information window. For example, as shown in FIG. 3A, the first device 110 may prioritize the first four monitoring occasions (i.e., the monitoring occasions 320-1, 320-2, 320-3 and 320-4) within the system information window 310 and the remaining four monitoring occasions (i.e., the monitoring occasions 320-5, 320-6, 320-7 and 320-8) may be ignored if the uplink transmission is scheduled. It is noted that the number of monitoring occasions in the set of monitoring occasions shown in FIG. 3A is only an example not limitation.

[0089] In some example embodiments, the second configuration may indicate the number of monitoring occasions in the set of monitoring occasions 310. For example, as shown in FIG. 3A, the second configuration may indicate four monitoring occasions in the set of monitoring occasions 310.

[0090] Alternatively, the second configuration may indicate a time window including the set of monitoring occasions relative to a start of the system information window. For example, as shown in FIG. 3B, the time window 330’ may include the monitoring occasions 320-1, 320-2, 320-3 and 320-4. The second configuration may indicate the time window 330’ relative to the start 340 of the system information window 310.

[0091] In some other embodiments, the set of monitoring occasions may correspond to a configured window in which monitoring the system information block is prioritized than uplink transmission. By way of example, as shown in FIG. 5, the set of monitoring occasions 520-1, 520-2, 520-3, 520-4 and 520-5 may correspond to the configured window 510. It is noted that the number of monitoring occasions in the set of monitoring occasions shown in FIG. 5 is only an example not limitation. In some example embodiments, the configured window for collision handling is distributed with a periodicity within the system information window. For example, the system information window may include one or more configured windows for collision handling.

[0092] In some example embodiments, which link direction is prioritized in the configured window for collision handling may be determined by a network configuration. In some example embodiments, a DL direction may be prioritized. In this case, if a collision occurs in the configured window, the first device 110 may perform the DL reception over UL transmission. Alternatively, an UL direction may be prioritized. In this case, if a collision occurs in the configured window, the first device 110 may perform the UL transmission over DL reception. In some other embodiments, a SL direction may be prioritized.

[0093] In some example embodiments, the start of the configured window and a duration of the configured window may be configured by the second device. Alternatively, the start of the configured window and a duration of the configured window may be predefined. By way of example, as shown in FIG. 5, the start 530 of the configured window 510 and the duration of the configured window 510 may be configured or predefined. In some example embodiments, the start of the configured window and the duration of the  configured window may be relative to the system information window. Alternatively, the start of the configured window and the duration of the configured window may be in absolute values.

[0094] In some example embodiments, a set of downlink channels prioritized over uplink channels may be within the configured window. For example, the configured window may be defined just to prioritize a set of DL channel / signal e.g. the PDCCH monitoring but not other DL channel / signal. Alternatively, all downlink channels prioritized over the uplink channels may be within the configured window. For example, the configured window may be defined to prioritize all DL channel / signal over UL channel / signal.

[0095] In some example embodiments, the configured window may be specific to the first device 110. In some example embodiments, a size of the configured window may be based on a time duration for reading a downlink channel by the first device 110. For example, the size of the window may be based on UE reported / requested time to read the DL channel, e.g. PDCCH including PDSCH when scheduling SIB19.

[0096] Alternatively, the start time of the configured window may be based on a last time of reading the system information block successfully. For example, the start time of the window can be based on UE reported last time reading the SIB19 successfully. Reading the SIB19 successfully may refer to receiving and / or decoding the SIB successfully.

[0097] In some example embodiments, the number of monitoring occasions in the set of monitoring occasions may be based on an overlapped part of search space configuration and the system information window. For example, the number X may be the monitoring occasions according to the overlapped part of search space configuration and the system information window.

[0098] Alternatively, the number of monitoring occasions in the set of monitoring occasions may be based on an overlapped part between physical downlink control channel monitoring occasions for the system information and the system information window. For example, the number X may be the monitoring occasions according to the overlapped part of PDCCH monitoring occasions and the system information window (or the configured window for collision window) .

[0099] The second device 120 transmits (2020) an indication for scheduling an uplink transmission that at least partially overlaps with a monitoring occasion for the downlink  control information or a downlink transmission carrying the system information block within the system information window to the first device 110. In other words, the first device 110 receives the indication for scheduling the uplink transmission that at least partially overlaps with a monitoring occasion for the downlink control information or a downlink transmission carrying the system information block within the system information window from the second device 120.

[0100] The first device 110 determines (2030) whether to prioritize at least one of: monitoring the DCI or a reception of the SIB over the uplink transmission based on one or more off a position of a monitoring occasion for the system information block in the system information window, a number of monitoring occasions where the system information block was scheduled, or whether the system information block is received previously. In some example embodiments, the first device 110 may monitor (2040) the SIB based on the determining. For example, monitoring (2040) the SIB may include monitoring the DCI scheduling the SIB. As another example, monitoring (2040) the SIB may include receiving the SIB. Alternatively, the first device 110 may transmit (2040’) the uplink transmission based on the determining. In this way, the UE can receive the SIB timely and avoid unnecessary latency for uplink transmission. Example embodiments are described below in details.

[0101] In some example embodiments, if the position of the monitoring occasion for the system information is in the set of monitoring occasions in the system information window, the first device 110 may prioritize at least one of: monitoring the DCI or the reception of the SIB over the uplink transmission. That is, if the position of the monitoring occasion for the system information is in the set of monitoring occasions in the system information window, the first device 110 may perform the monitoring of the DCI or the reception of the SIB. For example, ifa next monitoring occasion is part of X1 (X1 is an integer number) first monitoring occasions in the system information window, the first device 110 may prioritize downlink reception, if the downlink reception is scheduled. For example, as shown in FIG. 3A, if the position of the monitoring occasion (such as, the monitoring occasion 320-2) for the system information block is in the set of monitoring occasions 330, the first device 110 may monitor the system information block. By way of example, if the scheduled uplink transmission and the reception of SIB collisions in the monitoring occasion 320-2, the first device 110 may monitor the system information block and skip the uplink transmission in the monitoring occasion 320-2. In some example embodiments,  the X1 may start at an offset to the start of the system information window and the value of X1 may be configured by the second device 120.

[0102] In some other example embodiments, if a next monitoring occasion is within X2 ms from the start of the system information window, the first device 110 may prioritize downlink reception, if the downlink reception is scheduled. For example, as shown in FIG. 3B, if the position of the monitoring occasion for the system information block is in the time duration 330’, the first device 110 may monitor the system information block.

[0103] Alternatively, if the position monitoring occasion for the system information is out of (i.e., not in) the set of monitoring occasions in the system information window, the first device 110 may prioritize the uplink transmission over the monitoring of the DCI and / or the reception of the SIB. That is, if the position monitoring occasion for the system information is not in the set of monitoring occasions in the system information window, the first device 110 may perform the uplink transmission. For example, if a next monitoring occasion is not part of X1 first monitoring occasions in the system information window, the first device 110 may prioritize uplink transmission, if the uplink transmission is scheduled. For example, as shown in FIG. 3A, if the position of the monitoring occasion (such as, the monitoring occasion 320-6) for the system information block is out of the set of monitoring occasions 330, the first device 110 may perform the uplink transmission. By way of example, if the scheduled uplink transmission and the reception of SIB collisions in the monitoring occasion 320-6, the first device 110 may perform the uplink transmission and skip monitoring the SIB in the monitoring occasion 320-6.

[0104] In some other example embodiments, if a next monitoring occasion is out of X2 (X2 can be any suitable value) ms from the start of the system information window, the first device 110 may prioritize uplink transmission, if the uplink transmission is scheduled. For example, as shown in FIG. 3B, if the position of the monitoring occasion for the system information block is out of the time duration 330’, the first device 110 may perform the uplink transmission. In some example embodiments, the X2 may start at an offset to the start of the system information window and the value of X2 may be configured by the second device 120.

[0105] In some example embodiments, if the number of monitoring occasions in a subset of monitoring occasions where the system information block was scheduled is less than a threshold number, the first device 110 may prioritize monitoring the system information  block over the uplink transmission during the subset of monitoring occasions or the set of monitoring occasions. In some example embodiments, if the second device 120 only schedules the SIB in a subset (for example, Z monitoring occasions) of the set of monitoring occasions (for example, X monitoring occasions, Z<X) , the first device 110 may shift the time to apply the reverted collision rule to allow the set of monitoring occasions that actually result in SIB19 scheduling, which means that the rule is reverted later than the first X monitoring occasions. In some other example embodiments, the collision rule may be reverted when either X or Z is achieved. For example, as shown in FIG. 3B, ifX is 5 and Z is 3 and the second device 120 schedules the system information block in monitoring occasions 320-1, 320-2 and 320-6, the second device may revert the rule after 5 monitoring occasions.

[0106] In some example embodiments, if the number of monitoring occasions where the system information block was scheduled is less than a threshold number, the first device 110 may prioritize monitoring the system information block over the uplink transmission during the subset of monitoring occasions or the set of monitoring occasions. For example, as shown in FIG. 3B, if the number of monitoring occasions where the system information block was scheduled is less than a threshold number, the first device 110 may prioritize monitoring the system information block than the uplink transmission during the subset 350’ of monitoring occasions or the set 330’ of monitoring occasions.

[0107] In some example embodiments, if the number of monitoring occasions in a subset of monitoring occasions where the system information block was scheduled is less than a threshold number and the monitoring occasion for the system information is out of the subset of monitoring occasions or the set of monitoring occasions, the first device 110 may perform the uplink transmission. The threshold number can be any suitable value. For example, as shown in FIG. 3B, if the number of monitoring occasions where the system information block was scheduled is less than the threshold number and the monitoring occasion is out of the subset 350’ of monitoring occasions, the first device 110 may perform the uplink transmission. As another example, if the number of monitoring occasions where the system information block was scheduled is less than the threshold number and the monitoring occasion is out of the set 330’ of monitoring occasions, the first device 110 may perform the uplink transmission.

[0108] In some other example embodiments, if the number of monitoring occasions where the system information block was scheduled is equal to or larger than a threshold  number and the monitoring occasion for the system information is out the subset of monitoring occasions, the first device 110 may perform the uplink transmission. For example, as shown in FIG. 3B, if the number of monitoring occasions where the system information block was scheduled is equal to or larger than the threshold number and the monitoring occasion for the system information is out the subset 350’ of monitoring occasions, the first device 110 may perform the uplink transmission.

[0109] In some example embodiments, the number of monitoring occasions in the set of monitoring occasions or the time duration including the set of monitoring occasions may correspond to a UE capability. For example, if the UE has limited receiving capability or is in poor coverage conditions, the UE may require multiple PDCCH and PDSCH receptions to completely receive & decode the relevant SIB. Therefore, the UE may report the value of X to the network. For example, the first device 110 may transmit, to the second device 120, information indicating the number of monitoring occasions or a time duration for the set of monitoring occasions needed for monitoring the system information block.

[0110] In some example embodiments, the first device 110 may notify the second device 120 when it has received the SIB19 if the reception happens before the collision rule is reverted. The notification may then cause the rule to be reverted (i.e. uplink is prioritized) . For example, the first device 110 may transmit, to the second device, an indication regarding the reception of the system information block. In some example embodiments, if the system information block was received in the current system information window, the first device 110 may transmit, to the second device, an indication regarding the reception of the system information block. In some example other embodiments, if the system information block was received in another system information window that is in the same system information modification window as the current system information window, the first device 110 may transmit, to the second device, an indication regarding the reception of the system information block.

[0111] In some example embodiments, if the system information block is received previously, the first device 110 may prioritize the uplink transmission over the monitoring of the DCI scheduling the SIB and / or the reception of the SIB. For example, if the system information block is received in the system information window or if the system information block is received in another system information window which is in the same system information modification window as the current system information window, the  first device 110 may perform the uplink transmission. The system information within the same system information modification window may not change. For example, as shown in FIG. 3A, if the system information block was received in the system information window 310, the first device 110 may prioritize the uplink transmission. Alternatively, if the system information block was received is another system information window (not shown) which is in the same system information modification window as the system information window 310, the first device 110 may prioritize the uplink transmission.

[0112] Alternatively, if the system information block is not received previously, the first device 110 may prioritize the monitoring of the DCI scheduling the SIB and / or the reception of the SIB over the uplink transmission. For example, if the first device 110 does not receive the system information block in the system information modification window that includes the system information block, the first device 110 may monitor the system information block.

[0113] In some example embodiments, if system information block is received before a time instant, the first device 110 may transmit the indication regarding the reception of the system information block. For example, the first device 110 may be configured to only report the SIB19 reception if it happens T seconds before the collision rule would have been reverted based on the above options (e.g. T seconds before the X’th PDCCH monitoring occasion) .

[0114] In some example embodiments, the indication is transmitted via a signaling dedicated to the first apparatus. For example, the first device 110 may provide the notification through a UE dedicated signaling channel which is pre-configured for the UE, which means that the first device 110 knows the exact time and resource to provide the indication. The availability of the configured resource may also be conditional on the parameters Z and X. One channel that could be used to provide the signaling would be the PRACH, where a dedicated random-access preamble could be used for such indication.

[0115] According to example embodiments described with reference to FIG. 2, it enables the network and UE to have an aligned understanding of when the UE may prioritize SIB19 reception over uplink transmissions. Further, it provides opportunities for the UE to acquire SIB19 while at the same time providing options for the network to schedule uplink, which collides with PDCCH monitoring occasions for SIB19.

[0116] FIG. 4 illustrates signaling flow 400 of distributed feedback in accordance with some example embodiments of the present disclosure. For the purposes of illustrations, the signaling flow 400 is described with reference to the first device 110 and the second device 120 shown in FIG. 1.

[0117] The second device 120 transmits (4010) a first configuration of a collision handling window to the first device 110. In other words, the first device 110 receives (4010) the first configuration of the collision handling window from the second device 120. In some embodiments, the first configuration may indicate a start time instant of the collision handling window and a time duration of the collision handling window. Alternatively, or in addition, the first configuration may indicate the start time instant and an end time instant of the collision handling window. For example, as shown in FIG. 5, the first configuration may indicate the collision handling window 510.

[0118] In some example embodiments, the collision handling window is localized or distributed. Alternatively, or in addition, the collision handling window is periodic or aperiodic. In some other example embodiments, the collision handling window is semi-static configured or dynamic configured. In some example embodiments, the collision handling window is used for at least one of: all channels or a subset of channels in uplink, all channels or a subset of channels in downlink, all signals or a subset of signals in uplink, or all signals or a subset of signals in downlink.

[0119] The first device 110 determines (4020) a prioritized link direction based on a first prioritization criterion, if there is a link direction collision in the collision handling window. The first device 110 may perform (4030) a transmission based on the prioritized link direction. Alternatively, the first device 110 may perform (4030’) a reception based on the prioritized link direction. In some example embodiments, which link direction is prioritized in the configured window for collision handling may be determined by a network configuration. That is, the first prioritization criterion may be configured by the second device 120. Alternatively, the first prioritization criterion may be predefined.

[0120] In some example embodiments, the first prioritization criterion may indicate that a DL direction is prioritized. In this case, if a collision occurs in the collision handling window, the first device 110 may perform the DL reception over UL transmission. For example, as shown in FIG. 5, if the collision occurs in the collision handling window 510  (such as, the monitoring occasion 520-2) , the first device 110 may perform the DL reception over UL transmission in the collision handling window 510.

[0121] Alternatively, the first prioritization criterion may indicate that an UL direction is prioritized. In this case, if a collision occurs in the collision handling window, the first device 110 may perform the UL transmission over DL reception. In some other embodiments, the first prioritization criterion may indicate that a SL direction is prioritized.

[0122] In some example embodiments, the prioritized link direction in the collision handling window may be a configured link direction from the second device 120. Alternatively, the prioritized link direction in the collision handling window may be a link direction with low priority based on a second prioritization criterion which is applied in an absence of the collision handling window.

[0123] In some example embodiments, the first device 110 may change the first prioritization criterion to the second prioritization criterion, at or after an end of collision handling window. For example, as shown in FIG. 5, the first device 110 may change the first prioritization criterion to the second prioritization criterion, at or after an end 540 of collision handling window. By way of example, if the first prioritization criterion indicates that a DL direction is prioritized and the second prioritization criterion indicates that an UL direction is prioritized, and if the collision occurs after the end 540 the collision handling window 510 (such as, the monitoring occasion 520-6) , the first device 110 may perform the UL reception over DL transmission in the monitoring occasion 520-6. In some example embodiments, if there is no link direction collision in the link direction collision window, the first device 110 may perform a link direction processing without changing prioritization. For example, if there is no collision in the collision window 510, the first device 110 may perform the reception or transmission based on the second prioritization criterion.

[0124] According to example embodiments described with reference to FIG. 4, when the collision handling is configured, it can provide a window to enable aligned understanding of prioritizing PDCCH reception or prioritization in any UL / DL collision so that to let UE have opportunity to prioritize UL or DL based on requirement.

[0125] It is noted that example embodiments described with reference to FIG. 2 to FIG. 5 can be implemented independently. Alternatively, example embodiments described with reference to FIG. 2 to FIG. 5 can be combined in any suitable manners.

[0126] FIG. 6 shows a flowchart of an example method 600 implemented at a first apparatus in accordance with some example embodiments of the present disclosure. For the purpose of discussion, the method 600 will be described from the perspective of the first device 110 in FIG. 1.

[0127] At block 610, the first apparatus receives, from a second apparatus, a first configuration of a system information window. The system information window comprises a plurality of monitoring occasions for downlink control information scheduling a system information block.

[0128] At block 620, the first apparatus receives, from the second apparatus, an indication for scheduling an uplink transmission that at least partially overlaps with a monitoring occasion for the downlink control information or a downlink transmission carrying the system information block within the system information window.

[0129] At block 630, the first apparatus determines whether to prioritize at least one of: monitoring the downlink control information or a reception of the system information block or the uplink transmission based on at least one of: a position of a monitoring occasion for the system information block in the system information window, a number of monitoring occasions where the system information block was scheduled, or whether the system information block is received previously.

[0130] At block 640, the first apparatus monitors the system information block or perform the uplink transmission based on the determining.

[0131] In some example embodiments, a set of monitoring occasions in the plurality of monitoring occasions is prioritized over the uplink transmission within the system information window.

[0132] In some example embodiments, the method 600 further comprises: based on a determination that the position of the monitoring occasion for the system information is in the set of monitoring occasions in the system information window, monitoring the system information block; or based on a determination that the position of the monitoring  occasion for the system information is out of the set of monitoring occasions in the system information window, performing the uplink transmission.

[0133] In some example embodiments, the method 600 further comprises: receiving, from the second apparatus, a second configuration indicating the set of monitoring occasions in the plurality of monitoring occasions.

[0134] In some example embodiments, the second configuration indicates the number of monitoring occasions in the set of monitoring occasions, or wherein the second configuration indicates a time window including the set of monitoring occasions relative to a start of the system information window.

[0135] In some example embodiments, the set of monitoring occasions corresponds to a configured window in which monitoring the system information block is prioritized over uplink transmission.

[0136] In some example embodiments, the configured window is distributed with a periodicity within the system information window.

[0137] In some example embodiments, a set of downlink channels prioritized over uplink channels is within the configured window, or wherein all downlink channels prioritized over the uplink channels are within the configured window.

[0138] In some example embodiments, a configured window in which monitoring the system information block is prioritized over the uplink transmission is specific to the first apparatus.

[0139] In some example embodiments, a size of the configured window is based on a time duration for reading a downlink channel by the first apparatus, or wherein a start time of the configured window is based on a last time of reading the system information block successfully.

[0140] In some example embodiments, the number of monitoring occasions in the set of monitoring occasions is based on an overlapped part between physical downlink control channel monitoring occasions for the system information and the system information window.

[0141] In some example embodiments, the method 600 further comprises: based on a determination that the number of monitoring occasions in where the system information  block was scheduled is less than a threshold number, prioritizing monitoring the system information block over the uplink transmission during a subset of monitoring occasions or the set of monitoring occasions.

[0142] In some example embodiments, the method 600 further comprises: based on a determination that the number of monitoring occasions where the system information block was scheduled is less than a threshold number and the monitoring occasion for the system information is out of a subset of monitoring occasions or the set of monitoring occasions, performing the uplink transmission.

[0143] In some example embodiments, the method 600 further comprises: based on a determination that the number of monitoring occasions s where the system information block was scheduled is equal to or larger than a threshold number and the monitoring occasion for the system information is out a subset of monitoring occasions, performing the uplink transmission.

[0144] In some example embodiments, the method 600 further comprises: transmitting, to the second apparatus, information indicating the number of monitoring occasions or a time duration for the set of monitoring occasions needed for monitoring the system information block.

[0145] In some example embodiments, the method 600 further comprises: transmitting, to the second apparatus, an indication regarding the reception of the system information block.

[0146] In some example embodiments, the method 600 further comprises: based on a determination that the system information block is received previously, performing the uplink transmission; or based on a determination that the system information is not received previously, monitoring the system information block.

[0147] In some example embodiments, the method 600 further comprises: based on a determination that the system information block is received before a time instant, transmitting the indication regarding the reception of the system information block.

[0148] In some example embodiments, the indication is transmitted via a signaling dedicated to the first apparatus.

[0149] In some example embodiments, the first apparatus is a terminal device, and the second apparatus is a network device.

[0150] FIG. 7 shows a flowchart of an example method 700 implemented at a first apparatus in accordance with some example embodiments of the present disclosure. For the purpose of discussion, the method 700 will be described from the perspective of the first device 110 in FIG. 1.

[0151] At block 710, the first apparatus receives, from a second apparatus, a first configuration of a collision handling window.

[0152] At block 720, based on a determination that there is link direction collision in the collision handling window, the first device determines a prioritized link direction based on a first prioritization criterion for the collision handling window.

[0153] At block 730, the first device performs a transmission or a reception based on the prioritized link direction.

[0154] In some example embodiments, the prioritized link direction in the collision handling window is one of the following: a configured link direction from the second apparatus, or a link direction with low priority based on a second prioritization criterion which is applied in an absence of the collision handling window.

[0155] In some example embodiments, the first apparatus is caused to: changing the first prioritization criterion to the second prioritization criterion, at or after an end of collision handling window.

[0156] In some example embodiments, the first apparatus is caused to: based on a determination that there is no link direction collision in the link direction collision window, performing a link direction processing without changing prioritization.

[0157] In some example embodiments, the collision handling window is localized or distributed, or wherein the collision handling window is periodic or aperiodic, or wherein the collision handling window is semi-static configured or dynamic configured.
