[0079] The embodiments of the present disclosure are described in detail with reference to the accompanying drawings. It should be understood that these embodiments are discussed only for better understanding, rather than limitations on the scope of the present disclosure. The described features, advantages, and characteristics of the disclosure may be combined in any suitable manner in one or more embodiments.

[0080] Generally, all terms used herein are to be interpreted according to their ordinary meaning in the relevant technical field, unless a different meaning is clearly given and / or is implied from the context in which it is used. The steps of any methods disclosed herein do not have to be performed in the exact order disclosed, unless clearly given and / or implied from the context. Any feature of any of the embodiments disclosed herein may be applied to any other embodiment, wherever appropriate.

[0081] As used herein, the term “network” or “communication network” refers to a network following any suitable communication standards (such for an internet network, or any wireless network) . For example, wireless communication standards may comprise WLAN (Wireless Local Area Network) , new radio (NR) , long term evolution (LTE) , LTE-Advanced, 5G NR, 6G etc. In the following description, the terms “network” and “system” can be used interchangeably.

[0082] The term “node / network node” refers to a computing device or computing entity or computing function or any other devices (physical or virtual) in a communication network. For example, the node in the network may include a base station (BS) , an access point (AP) , or any other suitable device in a wireless communication network. The BS may be, for example, a node B (NodeB or NB) , an evolved NodeB (eNodeB or eNB) , a next generation NodeB (gNodeB or gNB) , a remote radio unit (RRU) , a radio header (RH) , a remote radio head (RRH) , a relay, a low power node such as a femto, a pico, and so forth. Further, the node may include other core network node, such as an Access and Mobility Management Function, AMF, a Session Management Function, SMF, a User Plane Function, UPF, a mobility management entity, MME, or a serving gateway, S-GW, etc.

[0083] The term “terminal device” refers to any end device that can access a communication network and receive services therefrom. By way of example and not limitation, the terminal device refers to a mobile terminal, user equipment (UE) , a non-AP device (such as a non-AP Station (STA) ) , or other suitable devices. The terminal device may include, but not limited to, a mobile phone, a cellular phone, a smart phone, a wearable device, a vehicle-mounted wireless terminal device, a vehicle, and the like.

[0084] As one example, a terminal device may represent a device configured for communication in accordance with one or more communication standards promulgated by any standard organization, such as 3rd generation partnership project, 3GPP.

[0085] As yet another example, in an Internet of Things (IoT) scenario, a terminal device may represent a machine or other device that performs monitoring and / or measurements, and transmits the results of such monitoring and / or measurements to another terminal device and / or network equipment. Particular examples of such machines or devices are sensors, metering devices such as power meters, industrial machinery, or home or personal appliances, for example refrigerators, televisions, personal wearables such as watches etc. In other scenarios, a terminal device may represent a vehicle or other equipment that is capable of monitoring and / or reporting on its operational status or other functions associated with its operation.

[0086] It shall be understood that although the terms “first” and “second” etc. may be used herein to describe various elements, these elements should not be limited by these terms. These terms are only used to distinguish one element from another. For example, a first element could be termed a second element, and similarly, a second element could be termed a first element, without departing from the scope of example embodiments. As used herein, the term “and / or” includes any and all combinations of one or more of the associated listed terms.

[0087] As used herein, “at least one of the following: <a list of two or more elements>” and “at least one of <a list of two or more elements>” and similar wording, where the list of two or more elements are joined by “and” or “or” , mean at least any one of the elements, or at least any two or more of the elements, or at least all the elements.

[0088] In the communication networks, there are already many kinds of solutions proposed for avatar communication, for example, Internet Protocol Multimedia Subsystem (IMS) avatar communication based on (or not based on) Data Channel (DC) solution.

[0089] FIG. 1 is a diagram showing a Frequency-time resource partitioning of SBFD as compared to traditional FDD and TDD.

[0090] There is a Rel-18 study item on duplexing evolution, studying new duplexing schemes including subband non-overlapping full duplex (SBFD) .

[0091] 3GPP 5G NR currently supports two duplexing modes: FDD for paired bands and TDD for unpaired bands. In TDD, the time domain resource is split exclusively between downlink and uplink. Allocation of a limited time duration for the uplink in TDD would result in reduced coverage, increased latency, and reduced capacity.

[0092] Motivated by this, 3GPP has agreed to initiate a Rel-18 study item (RP-213591) on the evolution of duplexing operation in NR that addresses the challenges above. One of the objectives of the study item is to allow simultaneous DL and UL transmission on different physical resource blocks (PRBs) within an unpaired wideband NR cell, as illustrated in FIG. 1. The set of PRBs assigned to a specific link direction is known as subband and this new way of duplexing is denoted as subband non-overlapping full duplex (SBFD) .

[0093] As shown in FIG. 1, as a FDD scheme, DL and UL are arranged in the same time period, but different frequencies. As an example, a guard band is also allocated between them.

[0094] As a TDD, DL and UL are arranged in the same frequencies, but different time periods.

[0095] As shown in FIG. 1, full duplex (FDU) is an alternative name to SBFD, the arrangement of the DL and UP will be more flexible.

[0096] FIG. 2 is a diagram showing an illustration of SBFD and non-SBFD slots.

[0097] As to definition of SBFD slots, from the above description of SBFD operation, it can be observed that there are two slot types for both DL and UL transmissions as shown in FIG. 2, namely:

[0098] ● Non-SBFD slots, during which the entire band is used for either DL or UL (i.e., legacy / full DL / UL slots) .

[0099] ● SBFD slots, during which the non-overlapping DL subbands and UL subband (s) both exist, and

[0100] ○ Several SBFD operation modes have been studied including whether time and frequency locations of subbands for SBFD operation are known to the SBFD-aware UE or not. It however has been agreed in 3GPP RAN1#110 meeting that at least the operation mode with time and frequency locations of subbands for SBFD operation being known to the SBFD-aware UE is prioritized. This means that SBFD slots should be known by the (SBFD-aware) UE in one way or another. For example, the network uses cell-specific signalling to communicate the time and frequency configuration of SBFD slots to the UEs.

[0101] FIG. 3 is a diagram showing a co-channel cross-link interference types in SBFD deployment.

[0102] There are several cross-link interference (CLI) components in SBFD operation. As explained in a technical document for RAN1#110 meeting (R1-2207267) and illustrated in FIG. 3, SBFD introduces a new types of CLI, namely co-channel inter-subband CLI from non-overlapping frequency resources. This interference can be better classified depending on the source of the interference as:

[0103] - 1. gNB self-interference;

[0104] - 2. intra-cell UE-to-UE co-channel inter-subband CLI;

[0105] - 3. inter-cell UE-to-UE co-channel inter-subband CLI;

[0106] - 4. gNB-to-gNB co-channel inter-subband CLI.

[0107] Besides these new CLI types, in case of different frequency domain partitioning in neighbor cells, the system may also suffer from co-channel CLI from transmissions on overlapping frequency resources:

[0108] - 5. gNB-to-gNB inter-cell co-channel CLI from overlapping frequency resources;

[0109] - 6. UE-to-UE inter-cell co-channel CLI from overlapping frequency resources.

[0110] FIG. 4 is a diagram showing DL user perceived throughput (UPT) for SBFD and TDD with different configurations.

[0111] The importance of these new interference types has been extensively studied by system-level simulations during the 3GPP study item. Embodiments of the present disclosure may focus on the UE-to-UE CLI measurements and FIG. 4 shows the DL UE throughput for an urban macro scenario adopting SBFD. In this scenario, the UEs are dropped in confined areas (aka clusters) so that the UE-to-UE CLI is present. It can be noted that any of the SBFD configurations shows lower DL throughput than the static TDD. The DL performance degradation is specially noticeable on the 5th percentile, which represents the UEs deployed at the cell edge. One could think about a cell-edge UE transmitting in with high transmit power while another (nearby) cell-edge UE is receiving in DL. The CLI level in such case is quite high and significantly impacts the DL throughput of the cell-edge UE. UPT refers to user perceived throughput.

[0112] The serving gNB should be aware of the DL UE CLI conditions such that it can apply CLI mitigation schemes. Therefore, CLI measurements are needed for the optimal SBFD operation.

[0113] As to UE-to-UE CLI measurements currently supported, as part of the dynamic TDD standardization, 2 types of UE-to-UE cross-link interference measurements were standardized. One consists of measuring the RSRP of a SRS, also known as SRS-RSRP, and the other consists of measuring the RSSI of a given set of resources, also known as CLI-RSSI.

[0114] As to SRS reference signal received power (SRS-RSRP) , SRS reference signal received power (SRS-RSRP) is defined as linear average of the power contributions of the resource elements carrying sounding reference signals (SRS) . SRS-RSRP shall be measured over the configured resource elements within the considered measurement frequency bandwidth in the configured measurement time occasions.

[0115] For frequency range 1, the reference point for the SRS-RSRP shall be the antenna connector of the UE. For frequency range 2, SRS-RSRP shall be measured based on the combined signal from antenna elements corresponding to a given receiver branch. For frequency range 1 and 2, if receiver diversity is in use by the UE, the reported SRS-RSRP value shall not be lower than the corresponding SRS-RSRP of any of the individual receiver branches.

[0116] It is applicable for RRC_CONNECTED intra-frequency.

[0117] As to CLI Received signal strength indicator (CLI-RSSI) , CLI Received Signal Strength Indicator (CLI-RSSI) , is defined as linear average of the total received power observed only in the configured OFDM symbols of the configured measurement time resource (s) , in the configured measurement bandwidth from all sources, including co-channel serving and non-serving cells, adjacent channel interference, thermal noise etc.

[0118] For frequency range 1, the reference point for the RSSI shall be the antenna connector of the UE. For frequency range 2, CLI-RSSI shall be measured based on the combined signal from antenna elements corresponding to a given receiver branch. For frequency range 1 and 2, if receiver diversity is in use by the UE, the reported CLI-RSSI value shall not be lower than the corresponding CLI-RSSI of any of the individual receiver branches.

[0119] It is applicable for RRC_CONNECTED intra-frequency.

[0120] The focus of embodiments of the present disclosure is on CLI-RSSI measurements for SBFD. Further, the focus embodiments of the present disclosure may also include CLI-RSSI and SRS-RSRP jointly measurements for SBFD.

[0121] As to UE-to-UE CLI measurements for SBFD, currently in 3GPP, there are discussions on how the UE should perform the CLI measurements within a SBFD slot. Companies’ opinions are quite divided. The embodiments of the present disclosure focuses on Method #1, 2, 3. As an more specific example, they may focus on method #2, 3.

[0122] For SBFD aware UEs, CLI measurements is performed within the active DL BWP and the the following are considered:

[0123] · Method#1: UE measures RSSI within DL subband;

[0124] · Method#2: UE measures RSRP of aggressor UE within UL subband;

[0125] · Method#3: UE measures RSSI within UL subband;

[0126] · Method#4: UE measures RSSI within guard band.

[0127] The following is captured in the moderator summary for the CLI handling after RAN1#116 meeting and it is underlined the focus of embodiments of the present disclosure:

[0128] Embodiments of the present disclosure aims to provide a scheme to measure the leakage of an UL transmission while solving the following problems of the different methods discussed in 3GPP:

[0129] - Method#1 (Victim UE measures RSSI within DL subband) : This option has the problem that the victim UE’s CLI-RSSI measurements will be contaminated with DL signals from neighbour cells and even with DL signals from the serving cell. Distinguishing the UL leakage (interest of the measurements) from the DL signals in the CLI-RSSI is not possible / hard to achieve.

[0130] - Method#2 (Victim UE measures RSRP of aggressor UE within UL subband) : This option’s problem is the fact that the UE measures the RSRP of a specific aggressor UE using the “fundamental signal” , instead of the leakage of this fundamental signal (which is the interest of the measurements) .

[0131] - Method#3 (Victim UE measures RSSI within UL subband) : The problem of using this method is that the measurements can’ t identify individually any aggressor UE. Also, likely measurements will be dominated by the fundamental signal interference and not by the leakage (which is the interest of the measurements) .

[0132] FIG. 5A is a flow chart showing a method performed by a network node, according to exemplary embodiments of the present disclosure.

[0133] As shown in FIG. 5A, the method 500 comprises: a step S502, transmitting, to a first terminal device, a first configuration indicating a plurality of radio resources. The first configuration further indicates the first terminal device not to transmit radio signal in a first set of radio resources of the plurality of radio resources, and to transmit a radio signal in a second set of radio resources of the plurality of radio resources. The method further comprises: a step S504, transmitting, to a second terminal device, a second configuration indicating the plurality of radio resources. The second configuration further indicates the second terminal device to perform a first measurement in a third set of radio resources of the plurality of radio resources. The third set of radio resources is at least part of the first set of radio resources.

[0134] According to embodiments of the present disclosure, the exemplary embodiments of the present disclosure propose a mechanism that provides specifical procedures for interference measurement in communication network. The second terminal device may particularly measure an interference / leakage caused by a radio signal transmitted by the first terminal device. The measurement result will be more precise.

[0135] In exemplary embodiments of the present disclosure, the first measurement is a measurement for cross link interference -received signal strength indicator, CLI-RSSI. The first measurement is a measurement for a CLI from the first terminal device to the second terminal device during a Sub-band full duplex, SBFD, slot.

[0136] In exemplary embodiments of the present disclosure, the second configuration further indicates the second terminal device to perform a second measurement in a fourth set of radio resources of the plurality of radio resources. The second set of radio resources is at least part of the fourth set of radio resources.

[0137] In exemplary embodiments of the present disclosure, the radio signal is a sounding reference signal, SRS. The second measurement is a measurement for sounding reference signal -reference signal received power, SRS-RSRP.

[0138] According to embodiments of the present disclosure, the CLI and the SRS related to SBFD may be measured.

[0139] FIG. 5B is a flow chart showing further steps of the method as shown in FIG. 5A, according to exemplary embodiments of the present disclosure.

[0140] In exemplary embodiments of the present disclosure, the method further comprises: a step S506, receiving, from the second terminal device, a report including at least one of: a result of the first measurement, a result of the second measurement, and / or a difference between the result of the first measurement and the result of the second measurement. The report is received via at least one of: a channel state information, CSI, report, a medium access control-control element, MAC-CE, or a radio resource control, RRC, message.

[0141] According to embodiments of the present disclosure, the CLI and the SRS related to SBFD may be measured, and reported together or selectively.

[0142] In exemplary embodiments of the present disclosure, the first set of radio resources and the third set of radio resources are the same. The second set of radio resources and the fourth set of radio resources are the same.

[0143] In exemplary embodiments of the present disclosure, the first set of radio resources includes the third set of radio resources and a guard band. The fourth set of radio resources includes the second set of radio resources and the guard band.

[0144] According to embodiments of the present disclosure, a guard band may be optional for different measurements. Then, a result with or without a guard band may be obtained by the network.

[0145] In exemplary embodiments of the present disclosure, the plurality of radio resources comprises a plurality of resource blocks, RBs.

[0146] In exemplary embodiments of the present disclosure, the plurality of RBs are allocated in an uplink, UL, subband. A set of RBs in the plurality of RBs are used as offset between the second set of radio resources from other subband. The plurality of RBs are distributed in same time period and different frequencies.

[0147] According to embodiments of the present disclosure, the configuration may be based on RBs. Further, the configuration may be also based on other metric, such as a resource element (RE) level. For example, Each RB contains 12 REs and only some of the REs are active within each RB.

[0156] In exemplary embodiments of the present disclosure, the second indication comprises one or more numeric values for a quantity of radio resources in the third set of radio resources, or one or more numeric values for a ratio of the third set of radio resources related to the plurality of radio resources.

[0157] According to embodiments of the present disclosure, an SRS resource configuration with a second indication may be used for indicating the improved measurement scheme. The existing SRS resource configuration may be modified to include the second indication, or the second indication may be included in other configuration or other transmission / message / signalling. The efficiency is also improved.

[0158] Further, according to embodiments of the present disclosure, a RSSI resource configuration may be associated with the SRS resource, for combining / associating the first measurement and the second measurement.

[0159] Further, according to embodiments of the present disclosure, when the first indication or second have more than one value, the first terminal device will transmit the radio signal more than one time, and the second terminal device may perform the measurements more than one time accordingly.

[0160] FIG. 5D is a flow chart showing further steps of the method as shown in FIG. 5A, according to exemplary embodiments of the present disclosure.

[0165] Further, if some other terminal devices are served by other network node but are also around the second terminal device, the network node may coordinate with the other network node to keep the some other terminal devices and / or even the other network node mute (i.e., not transmit radio signal) in the plurality of radio resources.

[0166] Via such manner, the second terminal device may obtain measurement results only related to the transmission of the first terminal device.

[0190] FIG. 7C is a flow chart showing further steps of the method as shown in FIG. 7A, according to exemplary embodiments of the present disclosure.

[0191] In exemplary embodiments of the present disclosure, the method further comprises: a step S710, receiving, from the network node, an update of the second indication.

[0192] In exemplary embodiments of the present disclosure, the network node comprises a base station; and the second terminal device comprises a second user equipment, UE.

[0193] Embodiments of the present disclosure propose a mechanism that attempts to achieve “safe conditions” for the UE to measure leakage transmissions while it is not impacted by DL signals (from the serving and neighbour cells) and / or by the fundamental UL signals (at least from UE’s served by the same serving cell, i.e., intra-cell UEs) . To achieve these conditions, the victim UE will be measuring RSRP and RSSI jointly over different resources in the UL subband.

[0194] The intention is to mimic the conditions of leakage inside the UL subband, and therefore, the gNB shall configure the aggressor UE to partly transmit over the UL subband while leaving some resources as blanked. Here, for example, it is assumed that SRS will be used for the measurements.

[0195] The leakage of the transmission is expected, among other parameters, to be dependent on the used bandwidth, and therefore, the gNB could change the ratio of resources with transmissions and the blank resources. See below the minimum requirements of the UE in-band emissions from TS 38. 101-2, where NRB and LCRB parameters relate to the transmission bandwidth:

[0196] 6.4.2.3.2 In-band emissions for power class 1

[0197] The relative in-band emission shall not exceed the values specified in Table 6.4.2.3.2-1 for power class 1 UEs.

[0198] Table 6.4.2.3.2-1: Requirements for in-band emissions for power class 1

[0199] IQ image refers to in-phase quadrature image.

[0200] The victim UE would receive an indication of the active and blanked resources of the aggressor UE and will perform different CLI measurements depending on the resource type. The UE shall perform RSRP measurements over the active SRS resources and measure RSSI over the blanked resource, where the leakage is expected to be measured.

[0201] To account for the effect of the guardband, the victim UE could be configured with certain offset such that the RSSI measurements only account for RBs which are K RBs separated from the active SRS resources. K is an integer number indicating number of RBs.

[0202] Additionally, to ensure that at least there no intra-cell UL transmissions overlapping with the blanked resources, the gNB should∶

[0203] ●Ensure by proper scheduling that no UL transmissions are overlapping, this could be symbol level muting;

[0204] ●Indicate with group-common signaling the blank SRS resources, which should be considered for the UE during the transport block preparation, this could be RE-level muting;

[0205] ●Indicate with group-common signaling that M-1 UEs in the vicinity of the aggressor UE (the M_th UE) shall perform CLI measurements. M is an integer number indicating number of UEs.

[0206] FIG. 8A is a diagram showing an active and blank SRS resources for RSRP and RSSI measurements without a guardband, respectively.

[0207] FIG. 8B is a diagram showing an active and blank SRS resources for RSRP and RSSI measurements with a guardband, respectively.

[0208] FIG. 8A and FIG. 8B show a representation of how a SRS transmission, initially scheduled to occupy the entire UL subband, is now partly transmitted to ensure that leakage is observed over the blank resources.

[0209] To mimic the conditions of the leakage (inside the UL subband) , the gNB can indicate the legacy SRS transmission a set of RBs that are going to be active (or inactive) . The intention is to achieve similar conditions as if the aggressor UE transmits over the entire UL subband and the victim UE measures over the DL subband or guardbands. The benefits by doing it on the UL subband is that DL transmissions are avoided and CLI-RSSI measurements are not contaminated.

[0210] The victim UE will measure the SRS-RSRP over the non-zero power SRS (NZP-SRS) resources and CLI-RSSI over the new zero-power SRS (ZP-SRS) resources. The intention is that a group of UEs may measure while a given aggressor is transmitting, thus no other UL signal is expected to contaminate the ZP-SRS resources.

[0211] Alternatively, the victim UE could be configured with a CLI-RSSI resource that is configured via an offset from the NZP-SRS resources.

[0212] The ratio of active / inactive SRS resources could be changed dynamically and thus the RSRP+RSSI resources should change accordingly. Motivation for this is that leakage might change with respect to the BW used for the transmission.

[0213] Accordingly, if the “safe conditions” are met, the victim UE is able to have a 1-to-1 mapping between SRS-RSRP measurements of a given aggressor UE and its corresponding leakage (measured in CLI-RSSI) .

[0214] The victim UE could be configured to report both SRS-RSRP and CLI-RSSI (preferred) , or alternatively, only the CLI-RSSI and the corresponding SRS Id.

[0215] The benefit of such method is that the UE can report fundamental and leakage measurements per SRS resource. This is achieved by supporting simultaneous reporting of RSRP fundamental power and RSSI leakage power. Moreover, the configuration of the SRS-RSRP and CLI-RSSI measurements can be done with a single configuration.

[0216] As an example, the measurements and reporting could be used as follows. Assume that the aggressor UE is configured with an SRS transmission (SRS#1) with BW of 50 RBs. The SRS is then configured to have 10 active RBs. The victim UE receives the configuration and would then measure SRS-RSRP over the active 10 RBs, and CLI-RSSI over the remaining 40 RBs. The victim UE could report as follows:RSRP (active resources) = -80 dBm, which is considered as a fundamental signal,RSSI (blanked resources) = -110 dBm, which is considered as a leakage signal,Difference = 30 dBm.

[0217] With this information the gNB would know that the aggressor UE configured with SRS#1 is creating -80 dBm of interference from its fundamental signal and -110 dBm from its leakage. And thus, it could derive that there are 30 dB of difference between both signal components.

[0218] The amount of leakage might be bandwidth dependent and therefore the possibility of changing the ratio of active  / inactive resources. Thus, later on, the same (or other) SRS configuration it is now changed to have 40 RBs active. It is expected now that the RSRP maintain the same, while the leakage changes:RSRP (active resources) = -80 dBmRSSI (blanked resources) = -115 dBmDifference = 35 dBm.

[0219] This frequency dependency will be helpful at the gNB side. Depending on the frequency span of the future PUSCH allocations to the aggressor UE, the gNB could determine the expected leakage transmission to the victim UE.

[0220] Further, in FIG. 8B, a guardband / offset is optional, the victim UE may perform the SRS-RSRP, or perform the CLI-RSSI, or does not perform measurement on this part.

[0221] The embodiments of the present disclosure may address several aspects: configuration of blanked SRS resources at the aggressor UE, configuration / notification of blanked SRS resources to victim UE, and victim UE measurements and reporting. Some detailed exemplary embodiments are illustrated in the following.

[0222] [Corrected under Rule 26, 18.12.2025]As to aggressor UE SRS configuration, according to current technical specifications, the bandwidth of an SRS is configured by multiple parameters which are configured via RRC:

[0223] FIG. 9 is a diagram showing SRS bandwidth configuration according to c-SRS and b-SRS.

[0224] FIG. 9 is from Table 6.4.1.4.3-1 from TS 38.211.

[0225] Depending on the c-SRS (i.e., c_SRS) , b-SRS (i.e., b_SRS) and b-hop (i.e., b_hop) configurations, the UE assumes one SRS bandwidth (given by the m_SRS parameter) as shown in FIG. 9.

[0226] It should be noted that current technical specifications are not supporting frequency hopping for SRS configured for CLI measurements. Therefore, b_hop >= B_SRS for the SRS resources configuration are not allowed for CLI measurement purposes. And one could simply focus on the first column shown in the table of FIG. 9.

[0227] FIG. 10 is a diagram showing an example of blanked SRS resources indication.

[0228] One possible implementation is to configure an additional m_SRS_blanked_b parameter, which is configured by RRC, where m_SRS_blanked must be lower than m_SRS_b. The frequency assignment of the SRS resources starts from the bottom of the UL BWP + frequencyDomainShift (n_shift) . In order to be able to measure leakage over the UL subband, the blanked resources should then be assigned to the upper-end of the SRS resources as depicted in FIG. 10.

[0229] A UE configured with m_SRS_b and m_SRS_blanked_b is configured with an SRS transmission of m_SRS_b where the first (m_SRS_b –m_SRS_blanked_b) RBs are active SRS transmissions and the remaining m_SRS_blanked_b RBs are in-active, i.e., no power is allocated to them.

[0230] For another example, another parameter “m_SRS_active_b” may be used to directly indicate the active RBs. Or, both of “m_SRS_blanked_b” , and “m_SRS_active_b” may be used. However, only adding a parameter “m_SRS_blanked_b” will be enough and clear to indicate the blank resource (which is in interest) .

[0231] Accordingly, FIG. 9 (The Table 6.4.1.4.3-1 from TS 38.211) should then be extended to accommodate for different combinations of m_SRS_blanked_b for a given m_SRS_b.

[0232] Another alternative is the introduction of a new RRC parameter which simply indicates the ratio of allocated RBs for SRS which should be active or inactive. For instance, following the example above, to achieve 20 RBs out 48 RBs to be blanked, the gNB could use the new parameter P_inactiveRBs with a value of 0.4 or {0.4, 0.6…} . The UE could then calculate the number of inactive RBs are:

[0233] As mentioned earlier, the bandwidth of the SRS would play a role on the power of the leakage. Thus, it should be useful for the gNB to change the portion of RBs which are blanked for the same SRS configuration. For instance, one could think of a periodic SRS transmissions, which changes the blanked resources from time to time. A RRC configuration could also be a possible solution for this, however, it could be that the changes are required quicker than what RRC re-configuration typically takes long time. To cover the dynamic aspects of the configuration, the gNB could decide to indicate a new P_inactiveRBs or point to a new row of the table which modifies m_SRS_b and / or m_SRS_blanked_b.

[0234] As to victim UE measurement resources configuration, according to current technical specifications, the UE configured to measure CLI receives an SRS configuration as follows [TS 38.331, MeasObjectCLI configuration] :

[0235] So basically, the UE receives an SRS-Resource IE which is expected to be the same as the one configured for the aggressor UE. Thus, if the new parameters defined in the previous section are introduced and configured for a given aggressor UE, the victim UE is also able to understand which RBs of the SRS are blanked.

[0236] The gNB could also indicate a different m_SRS_blanked_b (or P_inactiveRBs) to the victim UE such that the expected effect of the guardbands is also accounted. Alternatively, a new parameter could be included in the SRS-ResourceConfigCLI-r16 which defines the resource offset the victim UE should apply to account for the guardband.

[0237] In case of a change of the SRS configuration by either DCI or RRC-reconfiguration, the victim UE should be notified using the same type of signal.

[0238] By UE implementation, the UE shall perform SRS-RSRP measurements only over the active SRS RBs and perform CLI-RSSI measurements over the inactive SRS RBs. The UE is therefore expected to receive a MeasObjectCLI which includes an SRS-Resource with blanked resources enabled. The legacy SRS-ResourceConfigCLI-r16 could be re-used.

[0239] Alternatively, the UE could be configured with a RSSI resource which refers (or point) to the SRS configuration. Any of the legacy parameters for configuring a RSSI resource should be then ignored, and the UE should rely on the SRS configuration. The UE shall then perform RSSI measurements over the blanked SRS resources. An example of the RRC configuration is as follows:

[0240] Alternatively, the UE could be configured with the legacy CLI-RSSI, i.e., with a start RB and nrOfRBs that overlaps with the blanked resources. This option can provide some measurement result, but the problem with this option is that the UE will measure not only on the resource elements overlapping with SRS resources but also in other resources where any UL signal could have been allocated. This can be solved if the network ensures that no other UL transmissions are scheduled by the time of the measurements.

[0241] As to CLI measurements reporting, the victim UE could be configured to report both the SRS-RSRP measured on the active SRS resources and the CLI-RSSI measured on the inactive SRS resources. Alternatively, the CLI-RSSI is reported. It can also report the difference between SRS-RSRP, and CLI-RSSI. This is the metric showing the received leakage interference. The reporting can occur as part of the CSI report, MAC-CE or RRC.

[0242] The following figures summarizes the idea of the embodiments of the present disclosure. FIG. 11 shows a flowchart of the non-proposed operations and proposed operations.

[0243] As shown in FIG. 11, in the non-proposed operations, the serving gNB transmits periodic SRS transmission configuration for CLI measurements to (potential) aggressor UE, and transmits periodic CLI measurements configuration and reporting configuration to (potential) victim UE. Then, the victim UE perform measurements and only report the SRS-RSRP.

[0244] In one proposed embodiment using RRC configuration, the serving gNB transmits periodic SRS transmission for CLI measurements and partial SRS transmission (e.g., m_blanked_SRS_b) to (potential) aggressor UE, and transmits periodic CLI measurements (with blanked resources) and reporting configuration (SRS-RSRP + CLI-RSSI) to (potential) victim UE. Then, the victim UE perform measurements and report SRS-RSRP + CLI-RSSI.

[0245] In another proposed embodiment using DCI configuration, the serving gNB transmits periodic SRS transmission for CLI measurements to (potential) aggressor UE, and transmits periodic CLI measurements and reporting configuration to (potential) victim UE.

[0246] Then, the serving gNB transmits dynamic indication of SRS blanked resources to (potential) aggressor UE, and transmits dynamic indication of blanked measurement resources to (potential) victim UE. Then, the victim UE perform measurements and report SRS-RSRP + CLI-RSSI.

[0247] FIG. 12 shows behaviour of the gNB and (aggressor / victim) UEs.

[0248] As shown in FIG. 12, in a step S1202, the gNB may send a configuration to the aggressor UE with resources for SRS transmissions used for CLI measurements.

[0249] In a step S1204, gNB may send a configuration to the victim UE for CLI measurements and reporting.

[0250] In a step S1206, gNB may receive from the victim UE a measurement report including an SRS-RSRP and CLI-RSSI measurements associated to an SRS resource configuration.

[0251] In a step S1208, the aggressor UE may receive a configuration of SRS resources with an indication of certain resources being blanked.

[0252] In a step S1210, the aggressor UE may determine the blanked resources according to the configuration.

[0253] In a step S1212, the aggressor UE may transmit SRS on active resources, while avoiding transmissions on the inactive resources.

[0254] In a step S1214, the victim UE may receive an SRS-based CLI measurements and reporting configuration, in which some SRS resources are configured as blanked.

[0255] In a step S1216, the victim UE may determine the blanked resources according to the configuration.

[0256] In a step S1218, the victim UE may measure SRS-RSRP and CLI-RSSI on active and inactive resources, respectively.

[0257] In a step S1220, the victim UE may report the measurement results to the gNB.

[0291] In certain embodiments, some or all of the functionality described herein may be provided by processing circuitry executing instructions stored on in memory, which in certain embodiments may be a computer program product in the form of a non-transitory computer-readable storage medium. In alternative embodiments, some or all of the functionalities may be provided by the processing circuitry without executing instructions stored on a separate or discrete device-readable storage medium, such as in a hard-wired manner. In any of those particular embodiments, whether executing instructions stored on a non-transitory computer-readable storage medium or not, the processing circuitry can be configured to perform the described functionality. The benefits provided by such functionality are not limited to the processing circuitry alone or to other components of the computing device, but are enjoyed by the computing device as a whole, and / or by end users and a wireless network generally.

[0292] The term “non-transitory, ” as used herein, is a limitation of the medium itself (i.e., tangible, not a signal) as opposed to a limitation on data storage persistency (e.g., RAM vs. ROM) .

[0293] As described in above exemplary embodiments of this disclosure, embodiments herein afford many advantages. According to embodiments of the present disclosure, the exemplary embodiments of the present disclosure propose a mechanism that provides specifical procedures for interference measurement in communication network. The second terminal device may particularly measure an interference / leakage caused by a radio signal transmitted by the first terminal device. The measurement result will be more precise.

[0294] It should be understood that the above embodiments are only for illustration but not limitation. The present disclosure may be carried out in other ways than those specifically set forth herein without departing from essential characteristics of the disclosure. All changes to these embodiments not departing from the meaning and equivalency of the appended claims are intended to be comprised herein.
