Abstract
Description
Terminal and Communication Method
[0001] The present invention relates to a terminal and a communication method in a wireless communication system.
[0002] In 3GPP (Registered Trademark) (3rd Generation Partnership Project) Rel-19, as a further improvement of LTM (Latency Triggered Mobility or Lower layer (L1 / L2)-Triggered Mobility), in addition to RACH based LTM, Conditional LTM (Conditional LTM) that supports RACH (Random Access Chanel)-less LTM is being discussed.
[0003] In the Early TA (Timing Advance) acquisition in the Conditional LTM procedure, the UE pre-acquires the TA values of multiple candidate cells. In the LTM of Rel-18, the validity of the TA value was managed on the network side, but in the conditional LTM of Rel-19, it is required that the UE guarantees the validity of the TA value.
[0004] In order to manage the validity of the TA value on the UE side, a method of maintaining a TA timer on the UE side and a method of determining that the TA value is valid if the change in the measurement result of L1 is below a threshold are being discussed. In other words, if the timer for managing the validity of the TA value in the UE expires or the change in the measurement result of L1 of the cell associated with the TA value exceeds the threshold, the TA value in the UE becomes invalid.
[0005] 3GPP TS 38.300 V18.2.0(2024-06)3GPP TS 38.401 V18.2.0(2024-06)
[0006] However, conventionally, in conditional LTM, the operation of the UE when the TA value becomes invalid was not clear. Therefore, there was a possibility that the UE could not appropriately execute cell / beam switching by conditional LTM.
[0007] The terminal in this embodiment includes a transmitting unit that transmits Layer 1 and Layer 3 measurement information measured in one or more candidate cells to a base station, and a control unit that performs cell switching when predetermined execution conditions are met after the transmission of the measurement information. The control unit manages the validity of the TA value associated with each of the candidate cells, and the control unit performs a predetermined operation when the TA value becomes invalid.
[0008] According to this embodiment, in a system that supports conditional cell switching, the operation of the terminal after the TA value becomes invalid can be clarified, and the cell switching procedure can be executed appropriately.

[0010] This embodiment will be described below with reference to the drawings. Note that the embodiments described below are examples, and the embodiments to which the present invention applies are not limited to those described below.
[0011] The wireless communication system of this embodiment operates using existing technology. Existing technology is, for example, wireless communication technology based on communication standards such as the 3GPP standard. Existing technology is, for example, NR (New Radio), but is not limited to existing NR. As used herein, the term "NR" has a broad meaning that includes NR (5G) and later systems (e.g., 6G), unless otherwise specified.
[0012] In the embodiments described below, we will use terms such as SS (Synchronization signal), PSS (Primary SS), SSS (Secondary SS), PBCH (Physical broadcast channel), PRACH (Physical random access channel), PDCCH (Physical Downlink Control Channel), PDSCH (Physical Downlink Shared Channel), PUCCH (Physical Uplink Control Channel), and PUSCH (Physical Uplink Shared Channel), which are used in existing LTE systems. This is for convenience of description, and similar signals, functions, etc., may be called by other names. In NR, the above terms will be referred to as SS, PSS, SSS, PBCH, PRACH, etc., without any particular distinction from LTE.
[0013] In this embodiment, the duplex method may be a TDD (Time Division Duplex) method, a FDD (Frequency Division Duplex) method, or any other method (for example, a Flexible Duplex).
[0014] In this embodiment, "configuring" wireless parameters means either pre-configuring predetermined values, or configuring wireless parameters notified by the base station 10 or terminal 20.
[0015] Figure 1 shows an example of the configuration of a wireless communication system in this embodiment. The wireless communication system in this embodiment includes a base station 10 and a terminal 20, as shown in Figure 1. Although Figure 1 shows one base station 10 and one terminal 20, this is an example, and there may be multiple base stations 10 and terminals 20.
[0016] Base station 10 is a communication device that provides one or more cells and communicates wirelessly with terminal 20. The physical resources of the wireless signal are defined in the time domain and the frequency domain. The time domain may be defined by the number of OFDM (Orthogonal Frequency Division Multiplexing) symbols, and the frequency domain may be defined by the number of subcarriers or resource blocks. Base station 10 transmits synchronization signals and system information to terminal 20. Synchronization signals are, for example, PSS and SSS. System information is transmitted, for example, via PBCH and is also called broadcast information. Synchronization signals and system information may also be called SSB (SS / PBCH block). As shown in Figure 1, base station 10 transmits control signals or data to terminal 20 via DL (Downlink) and receives control signals or data from terminal 20 via UL (Uplink). Both base station 10 and terminal 20 are capable of transmitting and receiving signals using beamforming. Furthermore, both base station 10 and terminal 20 are capable of applying MIMO (Multiple Input Multiple Output) communication to DL or UL. Furthermore, both the base station 10 and the terminal 20 may communicate via secondary cells (SCell) and primary cells (PCell) using Carrier Aggregation (CA). In addition, the terminal 20 may communicate via the primary cell of base station 10 and the primary secondary cell group cell (PSCell) of another base station 10 using Dual Connectivity (DC).
[0017] Base station 10 may also be referred to as a RAN (Radio Access Network) node. Base station 10 is, for example, a gNodeB (gNB) in NR.
[0018] Terminal 20 is a communication device equipped with wireless communication capabilities, such as a UE (User Equipment), smartphone, mobile phone, tablet, wearable device, or M2M (Machine-to-Machine) communication module. As shown in Figure 1, Terminal 20 receives control signals or data from the base station 10 via DL and transmits control signals or data to the base station 10 via UL, thereby utilizing various communication services provided by the wireless communication system. Terminal 20 also receives various reference signals transmitted from the base station 10 and performs propagation path quality measurements based on the reception results of these reference signals.
[0019] In the following explanation, " / " means "and / or" unless otherwise specified, or unless the context makes it clear that it has a different meaning.
[0020] In the following explanation, UE will be described as an example of a terminal, and gNB will be described as an example of a base station.
[0021] 3GPP Rel-18 introduced LTM (Lower layer (L1 / L2)-Triggered Mobility) as a technology to achieve low-latency, seamless communication with fast-moving UEs. LTM is a technology for high-speed cell switching from source cells to target cells, and Rel-18 specifies RACH-based LTM.
[0022] 3GPP Rel-19 discusses Conditional LTM as a further improvement to LTM. Conditional LTM supports RACH-less LTM in addition to RACH-based LTM. With RACH-less LTM, the UE can connect to the target cell without sending a RACH preamble, further reducing cell switching delays.
[0023] The following two options are being discussed in the Rel-19 conditional LTM:
[0024] In Option 1, as shown in Figure 2, the network determines potential candidate target cells / beams based on L1 (Layer 1) / L3 (Layer 3) measurement reporting.
[0025] In Option 2, as shown in Figure 3, the UE determines potential candidate target cells / beams and reports them to the source cells.
[0026] Figure 2 is a sequence diagram showing the operation of the wireless communication system in Option 1 described above. As shown in Figure 2, in step S11, LTM preparation is performed. In step S12, Early TA acquisition is performed.
[0027] In step S13, the UE sends the L1 / L3 measurement report to the Source gNB.
[0028] In step S14, Source gNB determines potential candidate target cells / beams.
[0029] In step S15, the Source gNB sends a Notification of potential candidate target cells / beams to the Target gNB 10-2. In the example in Figure 2, the Notification of potential candidate target cells / beams shows targetConfigID#1, (UL)TCI state ID#1, targetConfigID#2, and (UL)TCIstate#2.
[0030] In step S16, the Target gNB prepares the radio resources (e.g., dynamic grant) for the UE's first uplink transmission.
[0031] In step S17, Source gNB sends a notification of potential candidate target cells / beams (e.g., targetConfigID#1, (UL)TCI state ID#1, targetConfigID#2, (UL)TCIstate#2) to the UE.
[0032] In step S18, the UE decides to switch to the target cell / beam when the execution condition (for example, for targetConifgID#1, (UL)TCI state ID#1) is met. In step S19, the UE performs the first uplink transmission to the target gNB. The execution condition is a condition for cell switching and may include latency requirements.
[0033] Figure 3 is a sequence diagram showing the operation of the wireless communication system in option 2 described above.
[0034] In step S21, LTM preparation is performed. In step S22, Early TA acquisition is performed. In step S23, the UE sends L1 / L3 measurement reporting (potential candidate target cells / beams) to the Source gNB.
[0035] In step S24, Source gNB determines potential candidate target cells / beams.
[0036] In step S25, the Source gNB sends a notification of potential candidate target cells / beams (e.g., targetConfigID#1, (UL)TCI state ID#1, targetConfigID#2, (UL)TCIstate#2)) to the Target gNB 10-2.
[0037] In step S26, the UE starts monitoring the execution condition.
[0038] In step S27, the UE decides to switch to the target cell / beam when the execution condition (for example, for targetConifgID#1, (UL)TCI state ID#1) is met. In step S28, the UE performs the first uplink transmission to the target gNB.
[0039] In the Early TA acquisition described above in step S12 of Figure 2 and step S22 of Figure 3, the UE acquires the TA values of multiple candidate cells in advance. In Rel-18's LTM, the validity of the TA values was managed on the network side, but in Rel-19's conditional LTM, the UE is required to guarantee the validity of the TA values.
[0040] To manage the validity of TA values on the UE side, two methods are being discussed: one is to maintain a TA timer on the UE side, and the other is to determine that the TA value is valid if the change in the L1 measurement result is below a threshold. In other words, if the timer that manages the validity of the TA value in the UE expires, or if the change in the L1 measurement result of the cell associated with the TA value exceeds a threshold, the TA value in the UE becomes invalid.
[0041] However, conventionally, in conditional LTM, the behavior of the UE when the TA value becomes invalid has not been clear. Therefore, there has been a risk that the UE may not be able to appropriately execute cell / beam switching by conditional LTM.
[0042] According to this embodiment, the behavior of the UE after the TA value obtained by early TA acquisition in conditional LTM becomes invalid is clarified, and LTM can be appropriately executed.
[0043] In this embodiment, conditional LTM includes subsequent conditional LTM. In conditional LTM, RRC reconfiguration is required for each cell switch, but in subsequent conditional LTM, after LTM is executed once, cell switching can be repeated between candidate cells without RRC reconfiguration.
[0044] In this embodiment, conditional LTM may be referred to as conditional cell switching, which is executed based on predetermined execution conditions after transmission of measurement information of layer 1 and layer 3.
[0045] In this embodiment, a cell may mean at least one of a cell or a beam. In this embodiment, cell switching may mean at least one of cell switching or beam switching.
[0046] Hereinafter, examples in this embodiment will be described. Each example may be executed independently, or any combination of a plurality of examples may be executed.
[0047] The example shows the behavior of UE 20 when the TA value obtained by early TA acquisition in the procedure of conditional LTM becomes invalid. Each of the TA values obtained in early TA acquisition is associated with each candidate cell of the target cell.
[0048] (Example 1) According to Example 1, in RACH-less conditional LTM, when the TA value held by UE 20 for each candidate cell becomes invalid, it may fallback to RACH based LTM. That is, RACH based LTM may be triggered.
[0049] To fallback to RACH based LTM, a dedicated RACH resource for fallback to RACH based LTM may be set for UE 20 from the network (gNB 10) for each candidate cell in advance.
[0050] When the TA value becomes invalid in the UE, the network may notify or set UE 20 to fallback to RACH based LTM using RRC.
[0051] However, since the RACH resource is limited, the network may not be able to prepare a RACH resource for fallback to RACH based LTM for each candidate cell. If a RACH resource for fallback to RACH based LTM is not set for UE 20, UE 20 cannot fallback to RACH based LTM implicitly (without an explicit instruction, etc.). In such a case, UE 20 may execute the operation of Example 2 or Example 3. If a RACH resource for fallback to RACH based LTM is set for UE 20, the setting of the RACH resource to UE 20 may mean that an explicit fallback to RACH based LTM is possible.
[0052] FIG. 4 is a sequence diagram showing an example of the operation of the wireless communication system in Example 1.
[0053] In step S101, LTM preparation is executed. In LTM preparation, for example, initial settings and parameter exchanges for performing LTM are performed.
[0054] In step S102, Early TA acquisition is performed. Early TA acquisition is a procedure for obtaining TA values early. For example, UE 20 receives TA information from the network, which includes the TA values associated with each candidate cell. For example, the TA values associated with each candidate cell include the TA value of cell #3, which is managed by Target gNB 10-2. Upon receiving the TA information, UE 20 activates the TimeAlignmentTimer, which manages the expiration date of the TAs. When the TimeAlignmentTimer expires, UE 20 considers the TA information to be invalid and needs to acquire new TA information.
[0055] The UE 20 performs L1 (e.g., signal strength) and L3 (e.g., delay) measurements of cells / beams (e.g., surrounding cells / beams). The L1 measurement result is at least one of RSRP (Reference Signal Received Power), RSRQ (Reference Signal Received Quality), or SINR (Signal to Interference plus Noise Ratio). The L3 measurement result is at least one of delay, jitter, or packet loss.
[0056] Based on the measurement results, the UE 20 identifies potential candidate target cells / beams, which are candidate cells / beams for the switching target. Potential candidate target cells / beams are, for example, cells / beams that have better communication quality and / or can communicate with lower latency than the current cells / beams.
[0057] In step S103, UE 20 sends the L1 / L3 measurement report to Source gNB 10-1. The L1 / L3 measurement report includes the L1 and L3 measurement results of potential candidate target cells / beams. The cell ID / beam ID of the potential candidate target cells / beams may be included in the L1 / L3 measurement report or in a separate notification.
[0058] In step S104, Source gNB 10-1 sends Notification of potential candidate target cells / beams to Target gNB 10-2. In the example in Figure 4, potential candidate target cells / beams are represented by targetConfigID#1, (UL)TCI state ID#1, targetConfigID#2, and (UL)TCIstate#2.
[0059] In step S105, Target gNB 10-2 prepares radio resources (e.g., dynamic grant) for the first uplink transmission (first UL transmission) to the target cell / beam switched to by UE 20. This is the process by which Target gNB 10-2 prepares radio resources for communication with UE 20. Dynamic grant is radio resources that are dynamically allocated for data transmission.
[0060] In step S106, the TA value of cell #3 becomes invalid in UE 20. For example, if the TimeAlignmentTimer associated with the TA of cell #3 expires, UE 20 determines that the TA value of cell #3 has become invalid. Another example of a TA value becoming invalid is when the change in the measurement result of L1 of cell #3 exceeds a predetermined threshold. UE 20 determines that the TA value of cell #3 has become invalid in this case.
[0061] In step S107, UE 20 may fall back to RACH-based LTM, and RACH-based LTM may be executed between UE 20 and Target gNB 102. UE 20 may also perform the fallback to RACH-based LTM triggered by the invalidation of the TA value in cell #3. As another example, the network (gNB 10) may instruct UE 20 to fall back to RACH-based LTM.
[0062] (Example 2) According to Example 2, if the TA value held by UE 20 for each candidate cell becomes invalid, UE 20 may send a notification to the network (Source gNB 10-1) indicating that the TA value has become invalid.
[0063] The notification may indicate that the TA value has become invalid for each cell (candidate cell) associated with the TA value.
[0064] The network may send a PDCCH ordered RACH to UE 20 as an instruction to perform the RACH procedure on candidate cells where the TA value has become invalid. After UE 20 sends a RACH preamble to Target gNB 10-2 (Target DU (Distributed Unit)), Target gNB 10-2 may calculate a new TA value and send the new TA value to Source gNB 10-1 (Source DU) via CU (Central Unit). Source gNB 10-1 (Source DU) may then send the new TA value to UE 20 using a new MAC CE. These steps may be performed for each candidate cell.
[0065] Figure 5 is a sequence diagram showing an example of the operation of the wireless communication system in Embodiment 2. The operations of steps S201-S206 in Figure 5 are the same as the operations of steps S101-S106 in Figure 4.
[0066] In step S207, UE 20 sends a notification to Source gNB 10-1 indicating that the TA value associated with cell #3 has become invalid.
[0067] In step S208, the TA acquisition procedure is performed between UE 20, Source gNB 10-1, and Target gNB 10-2, and in step S209, UE 20 obtains a new TA value associated with cell #3 from Source gNB 10-1 via a new MAC CE.
[0068] In step S210, UE 20 begins monitoring the execution condition.
[0069] In step S211, if the execution condition is met, the UE 20 decides to execute the switch to the target cell / beam.
[0070] In step S212, UE 20 performs the first uplink transmission to Target gNB 10-2.
[0071] (Example 3) According to Example 3, if the TA value held by UE 20 for each candidate cell becomes invalid, UE 20 may exclude the candidate cell / beam associated with the invalid TA value from the cells / beams targeted for monitoring of the execution condition. In other words, the target of monitoring of the execution condition is the candidate cell / beam associated with the valid TA value.
[0072] Figure 6 is a sequence diagram showing an example of the operation of the wireless communication system in Embodiment 3. The operations of steps S301-S306 in Figure 6 are the same as the operations of steps S101-S106 in Figure 4.
[0073] In step S307, UE 20 excludes cell #3, which is associated with the TA value that was invalidated in step S306, from the monitoring of the execution condition.
[0074] In step S308, if the execution condition is met, the UE 20 decides to execute the switch to the target cell / beam.
[0075] In step S309, UE 20 performs the first uplink transmission to Target gNB 10-2.
[0076] (Example 4) According to Example 4, if the TA value held by UE 20 for each candidate cell becomes invalid, UE 20 may request the network to fall back to NW (Network) controlled LTM (i.e., Rel-18 LTM).
[0077] Figure 7 is a sequence diagram showing an example of the operation of the wireless communication system in Embodiment 4.
[0078] The operations in steps S401-S406 in Figure 7 are the same as the operations in steps S101-S106 in Figure 4.
[0079] In step S407, UE 20 sends a request to Source gNB 10-1 to fall back to the NW-controlled LTM (i.e., Rel-18 LTM).
[0080] Network-controlled LTM (Long-Term Mobile) is a method in which the network proactively controls the mobility of the UE (Unified Entity). In Network-controlled LTM, the network considers the surrounding environment of the UE and the overall network conditions to determine the optimal cell for the UE. The network then sends the UE information about the target cell and the conditions for switching (e.g., delay threshold, throughput threshold, etc.). The UE then switches cells based on the information received from the network.
[0081] In step S408, the NW controlled LTM procedure is performed between UE 20, Source gNB 10-1, and Target gNB 10-2.
[0082] (Example 5) According to Example 5, if the TA value held by UE 20 for each candidate cell becomes invalid, UE 20 may notify the network that the TA value has become invalid, and the network may trigger a fallback to NW-controlled LTM (i.e., Rel-18 LTM).
[0083] Figure 8 is a sequence diagram showing an example of the operation of the wireless communication system in Embodiment 5. The operations of steps S501-S506 in Figure 8 are the same as the operations of steps S101-S106 in Figure 4.
[0084] In step S507, UE 20 notifies Source gNB 10-1 that the TA value associated with cell #3 is invalid.
[0085] In step S508, Source gNB 10-1 triggers a fallback to NW-controlled LTM for UE 20, and in step S509, Source gNB 10-1 triggers a fallback to NW-controlled LTM for Target gNB 10-2.
[0086] In step S510, the NW controlled LTM procedure is performed between UE 20, Source gNB 10-1, and Target gNB 10-2.
[0087] (Example 6) According to Example 6, UE 20 may determine that an LTM failure has occurred when the TA value associated with a candidate cell has become invalid. In this case, "invalid TA value" may be set as the cause of the LTM failure (Failure cause).
[0088] Thus, according to the above embodiment, the behavior after the TA value obtained by early TA acquisition in conditional LTM becomes invalid is clarified, and LTM can be executed appropriately.
[0089] (Device Configuration) Next, an example of the functional configuration of the base station 10 and terminal 20 that perform the processes and operations described above will be explained. [0100] In the following explanation, the term "device" can be read as "circuit," "device," "unit," etc. The hardware configuration of the base station 10 and terminal 20 may include one or more of the devices shown in the figure, or it may be configured without some of the devices.
[0101] Each function in the base station 10 and terminal 20 is realized by loading predetermined software (programs) onto hardware such as the processor 1001 and storage device 1002, which allows the processor 1001 to perform calculations, control communication by the communication device 1004, and control at least one of the reading and writing of data in the storage device 1002 and auxiliary storage device 1003.
[0102] The processor 1001 controls the entire computer, for example, by running an operating system. The processor 1001 may consist of a central processing unit (CPU) that includes interfaces with peripheral devices, control devices, arithmetic units, registers, etc. For example, the control unit 140, control unit 240, etc., described above may be implemented by the processor 1001.
[0103] Furthermore, the processor 1001 reads programs (program code), software modules, or data from at least one of the auxiliary storage device 1003 and the communication device 1004 into the storage device 1002, and executes various processes accordingly. The program used is one that causes the computer to execute at least a part of the operations described in the above embodiment. For example, the control unit 140 of the base station 10 shown in Figure 9 may be implemented by a control program stored in the storage device 1002 and operated by the processor 1001. Also, for example, the control unit 240 of the terminal 20 shown in Figure 10 may be implemented by a control program stored in the storage device 1002 and operated by the processor 1001. Although the above-described processes have been explained as being executed by one processor 1001, they may be executed simultaneously or sequentially by two or more processors 1001. [0130] The processing procedures, sequences, flowcharts, etc., of each aspect / embodiment described herein may be reordered, provided they are consistent with each other. For example, the methods described herein present various step elements in an exemplary order and are not limited to that specific order.
[0131] In this specification, specific operations performed by the base station 10 may, in some cases, be performed by its upper node. In a network consisting of one or more network nodes having a base station 10, it is clear that various operations performed for communication with the terminal 20 can be performed by the base station 10 and at least one of the other network nodes (for example, an MME or S-GW, but not limited to these). Although the above example illustrates the case where there is one other network node besides the base station 10, the other network node may be a combination of multiple other network nodes (for example, an MME and an S-GW).
[0132] The information or signals described in this disclosure may be output from a higher layer (or lower layer) to a lower layer (or higher layer). They may also be input and output via multiple network nodes.
[0133] Input and output information may be stored in a specific location (e.g., memory) or managed using a management table. Input and output information may be overwritten, updated, or appended to. Output information may be deleted. Input information may be transmitted to other devices.
[0134] The determination in this disclosure may be made by a value represented by one bit (0 or 1), by a Boolean value (true or false), or by a numerical comparison (for example, a comparison with a predetermined value).
[0135] Software should be broadly interpreted to mean instructions, instruction sets, code, code segments, program code, programs, subprograms, software modules, applications, software applications, software packages, routines, subroutines, objects, executable files, execution threads, procedures, functions, and so on, whether they are called software, firmware, middleware, microcode, hardware description languages, or by any other name.
[0136] Furthermore, software, instructions, information, etc., may be transmitted and received via a transmission medium. For example, if software is transmitted from a website, server, or other remote source using at least one of wired technology (such as coaxial cable, fiber optic cable, twisted pair, or digital subscriber line (DSL)) and wireless technology (such as infrared or microwave), then at least one of these wired and wireless technologies is included in the definition of a transmission medium.
[0137] The information, signals, etc. described in this disclosure may be represented using any of the various different techniques. For example, the data, instructions, commands, information, signals, bits, symbols, chips, etc. that may be referred to throughout the above description may be represented by voltage, current, electromagnetic waves, magnetic fields or magnetic particles, optical fields or photons, or any combination thereof.
[0138] In addition, terms used in this disclosure and terms necessary for understanding this disclosure may be replaced with terms having the same or similar meanings. For example, at least one of the channel and symbol may be a signal (signaling). Also, a signal may be a message. Furthermore, a component carrier (CC) may be called a carrier frequency, cell, frequency carrier, etc.
[0139] The terms “system” and “network” as used in this disclosure are interchangeable.
[0140] Furthermore, the information, parameters, etc., described in this disclosure may be expressed using absolute values, relative values from a given value, or other corresponding information. For example, wireless resources may be indicated by an index.
[0141] The names used for the parameters described above are not restrictive in any way. Furthermore, the formulas and other expressions using these parameters may differ from those expressly disclosed in this disclosure. Various channels (e.g., PUCCH, PDCCH, etc.) and information elements can be identified by any suitable name, and therefore, the various names assigned to these various channels and information elements are not restrictive in any way.
[0142] In this disclosure, terms such as "Base Station (BS)", "wireless base station", "base station equipment", "fixed station", "NodeB", "eNodeB (eNB)", "gNodeB (gNB)", "access point", "transmission point", "reception point", "transmission / reception point", "cell", "sector", "cell group", "carrier", and "component carrier" may be used interchangeably. Base stations may also be referred to by terms such as macrocell, small cell, femtocell, and picocell.
[0143] A base station can accommodate one or more (e.g., three) cells. If a base station accommodates multiple cells, the entire coverage area of the base station can be divided into multiple smaller areas, each of which may also be provided with communication services by a base station subsystem (e.g., a Remote Radio Head (RRH)). The terms “cell” or “sector” refer to part or all of the coverage area of at least one of the base station and / or base station subsystems that provide communication services in that coverage.
[0144] In this disclosure, the transmission of information by a base station to a terminal may be interpreted as the base station instructing the terminal to perform control or operation based on the information.
[0145] In this disclosure, terms such as "Mobile Station (MS)," "user terminal," "User Equipment (UE)," and "terminal" may be used interchangeably.
[0146] A mobile station may also be referred to by those skilled in the art as a subscriber station, mobile unit, subscriber unit, wireless unit, remote unit, mobile device, wireless device, wireless communication device, remote device, mobile subscriber station, access terminal, mobile terminal, wireless terminal, remote terminal, handset, user agent, mobile client, client, or several other appropriate terms.
[0147] At least one of the base station and the mobile station may be called a transmitting device, a receiving device, a communication device, etc. At least one of the base station and the mobile station may also be a device mounted on a mobile body, the mobile body itself, etc. The mobile body refers to a movable object, and its speed of movement is arbitrary. This also includes the case when the mobile body is stationary. The mobile body includes, but is not limited to, vehicles, transport vehicles, automobiles, motorcycles, bicycles, connected cars, excavators, bulldozers, wheel loaders, dump trucks, forklifts, trains, buses, handcarts, rickshaws, ships and other watercraft, airplanes, rockets, satellites, drones (registered trademark), multicopters, quadcopters, balloons, and items mounted on them. The mobile body may also be a mobile body that moves autonomously based on operation commands. It may be a vehicle (e.g., a car, an airplane, etc.), an unmanned mobile body (e.g., a drone, an autonomous vehicle, etc.), or a robot (manned or unmanned). Furthermore, at least one of the base station and the mobile station may include devices that do not necessarily move during communication operations. For example, at least one of the base station and the mobile station may be an IoT (Internet of Things) device such as a sensor.
[0148] Furthermore, the term "base station" in this disclosure may be interpreted as "user terminal." For example, the various aspects / embodiments of this disclosure may be applied to a configuration in which communication between a base station and a user terminal is replaced with communication between multiple terminals 20 (which may be called, for example, D2D (Device-to-Device), V2X (Vehicle-to-Everything)). In this case, the terminals 20 may have the functions that the base station 10 has. Also, terms such as "uplink" and "downlink" may be interpreted as terms corresponding to terminal-to-terminal communication (for example, "side"). For example, uplink channel, downlink channel, etc., may be interpreted as side channel.
[0149] Similarly, the term "user terminal" in this disclosure may be replaced with "base station." In this case, the base station may be configured to have the same functions as the user terminal described above.
[0150] As used in this disclosure, the terms “determining” and “determining” may encompass a wide variety of actions. “Determining” may include, for example, judging, calculating, computing, processing, deriving, investigating, looking up, searching, or inquiring (e.g., searching in a table, database, or other data structure), or ascertaining. “Determining” may also include receiving (e.g., receiving information), transmitting (e.g., sending information), inputting, outputting, or accessing (e.g., accessing data in memory). Furthermore, "judgment" and "decision" can include considering something as having been "judged" or "decided" after resolving, selecting, choosing, establishing, comparing, etc. In other words, "judgment" and "decision" can include considering something as having been "judged" or "decided" after some action. Also, "judgment (decision)" can be reinterpreted as "assuming," "expecting," or "considering."
[0151] The terms “connected,” “coupled,” and any variations thereof mean any direct or indirect connection or coupling between two or more elements, and may include the presence of one or more intermediate elements between two elements that are “connected” or “coupled” with each other. The coupling or connection between elements may be physical, logical, or a combination thereof. For example, “connection” may be reinterpreted as “access.” As used in this disclosure, two elements may be considered to be “connected” or “coupled” with each other using at least one of one or more wires, cables, and printed electrical connections, and, in some non-limiting and non-exclusive examples, electromagnetic energy having wavelengths in the radio frequency domain, microwave domain, and optical (both visible and invisible) domain.
[0152] The reference signal can also be abbreviated as RS (Reference Signal), and may be called a pilot depending on the applicable standard.
[0153] In this disclosure, the phrase "based on" does not mean "based solely on" unless otherwise specified. In other words, the phrase "based on" means both "based solely on" and "based at least on."
[0154] Any reference to elements using the designations “first,” “second,” etc., as used in this disclosure does not generally limit the quantity or order of those elements. These designations may be used in this disclosure as a convenient way to distinguish between two or more elements. Accordingly, references to the first and second elements do not imply that only two elements may be employed, or that the first element must precede the second element in any way.
[0155] In the configuration of each of the above devices, "means" may be replaced with "part," "circuit," "device," etc.
[0156] Where the terms “include,” “including,” and variations thereof are used in this disclosure, these terms are intended to be inclusive, as is the term “comprising.” Furthermore, the term “or” as used in this disclosure is not intended to mean exclusive OR.
[0157] A wireless frame may consist of one or more frames in the time domain. Each of these frames in the time domain may be called a subframe. A subframe may further consist of one or more slots in the time domain. A subframe may have a fixed time length (e.g., 1 ms) that is independent of numerology.
[0158] Numerical logic may be communication parameters applied to at least one of the transmission and reception of a signal or channel. Numerical logic may include, for example, at least one of the following: subcarrier spacing (SCS), bandwidth, symbol length, cyclic prefix length, transmission time interval (TTI), number of symbols per TTI, radio frame configuration, specific filtering processes performed by the transceiver in the frequency domain, and specific windowing processes performed by the transceiver in the time domain.
[0159] A slot may consist of one or more symbols in the time domain (such as OFDM (Orthogonal Frequency Division Multiplexing) symbols, SC-FDMA (Single Carrier Frequency Division Multiple Access) symbols, etc.). A slot may also be a time unit based on neurologic.
[0160] A slot may include multiple minislots. Each minislot may consist of one or more symbols in the time domain. Minislots may also be called subslots. Minislots may consist of fewer symbols than a slot. A PDSCH (or PUSCH) transmitted in a time unit larger than a minislot may be called a PDSCH (or PUSCH) mapping type A. A PDSCH (or PUSCH) transmitted using a minislot may be called a PDSCH (or PUSCH) mapping type B.
[0161] Wireless frames, subframes, slots, minislots, and symbols all represent units of time when transmitting a signal. Different names may be used for each of these terms.
[0162] For example, one subframe may be called a Transmission Time Interval (TTI), multiple consecutive subframes may be called a TTI, or one slot or one minislot may be called a TTI. In other words, at least one of a subframe and a TTI may be a subframe in existing LTE (1 ms), a period shorter than 1 ms (e.g., 1-13 symbols), or a period longer than 1 ms. Note that the unit representing the TTI may be called a slot, minislot, etc., instead of a subframe.
[0163] Here, TTI refers to, for example, the smallest time unit for scheduling in wireless communication. For example, in an LTE system, the base station schedules each terminal 20 to allocate wireless resources (such as the frequency bandwidth and transmission power available to each terminal 20) in TTI units. However, the definition of TTI is not limited to this.
[0164] TTI may be a transmission time unit for channel-encoded data packets (transport blocks), code blocks, code words, etc., or it may be a processing unit for scheduling, link adaptation, etc. When a TTI is given, the actual time interval (e.g., number of symbols) in which the transport block, code block, code word, etc. are mapped may be shorter than the TTI.
[0165] Furthermore, if one slot or one mini-slot is referred to as a TTI, then one or more TTIs (i.e., one or more slots or one or more mini-slots) may constitute the minimum time unit for scheduling. In addition, the number of slots (number of mini-slots) that constitute this minimum time unit for scheduling may be controlled.
[0166] A TTI with a time length of 1 ms may be called a normal TTI, a long TTI, a normal subframe, a long subframe, a slot, etc. A TTI shorter than a normal TTI may be called a shortened TTI, a short TTI, a partial or fractional TTI, a shortened subframe, a short subframe, a mini slot, a sub slot, a slot, etc.
[0167] Furthermore, long TTIs (e.g., normal TTIs, subframes, etc.) may be interpreted as TTIs with a time length exceeding 1 ms, and short TTIs (e.g., shortened TTIs, etc.) may be interpreted as TTIs with a TTI length less than that of a long TTI but 1 ms or more.
[0168] A resource block (RB) is a resource allocation unit in the time domain and frequency domain, and in the frequency domain, it may contain one or more consecutive subcarriers. The number of subcarriers in an RB may be the same regardless of the neurology, for example, 12. The number of subcarriers in an RB may be determined based on the neurology.
[0169] Furthermore, the time domain of the RB may contain one or more symbols and may be the length of one slot, one minislot, one subframe, or one TTI. One TTI, one subframe, etc., may each consist of one or more resource blocks.
[0170] One or more RBs may also be called a Physical RB (PRB), Sub-Carrier Group (SCG), Resource Element Group (REG), PRB pair, RB pair, etc.
[0171] Furthermore, a resource block may consist of one or more resource elements (REs). For example, one RE may be a radio resource area comprising one subcarrier and one symbol.
[0172] A Bandwidth Part (BWP), also known as a partial bandwidth, may represent a subset of consecutive common resource blocks (RBs) for a particular neurology in a given carrier. These common RBs may be identified by an index of the RBs relative to a common reference point of the carrier. The PRBs may be defined and numbered within a given BWP.
[0173] A BWP may include a BWP for UL (UL BWP) and a BWP for DL (DL BWP). One or more BWPs may be set within a single carrier for a UE.
[0174] At least one of the configured BWPs may be active, and the UE does not need to assume that it will transmit or receive a predetermined signal / channel outside of the active BWP. In this disclosure, terms such as "cell" and "carrier" may be read as "BWP".
[0175] The structures described above, such as wireless frames, subframes, slots, minislots, and symbols, are merely illustrative. For example, the number of subframes included in a wireless frame, the number of slots per subframe or wireless frame, the number of minislots included in a slot, the number of symbols and RBs included in a slot or minislot, the number of subcarriers included in an RB, and the number of symbols, symbol length, and cyclic prefix (CP) length within a TTI can be varied in various ways.
[0176] In this disclosure, if articles are added through translation, such as a, an, and the in English, this disclosure may include the fact that the noun following these articles is plural.
[0177] In this disclosure, the term "A and B are different" may mean "A and B are different from each other." The term may also mean "A and B are each different from C." Terms such as "separate" and "combine" may be interpreted similarly to "different."
[0178] Each aspect / embodiment described in this disclosure may be used individually, in combination, or switched between as needed during implementation. Furthermore, notification of specific information (e.g., notification that "X is") is not limited to explicit notification, but may also be implicit (e.g., by not providing such notification).
[0179] Although the present disclosure has been described in detail above, it will be clear to those skilled in the art that the present disclosure is not limited to the embodiments described herein. The present disclosure can be implemented in modified and altered forms without departing from the intent and scope of the present disclosure as defined by the claims. Therefore, the descriptions in the present disclosure are illustrative and not intended to be restrictive in any way.

Claims
1. A terminal comprising: a transmitting unit that transmits Layer 1 and Layer 3 measurement information measured in one or more candidate cells to a base station; and a control unit that performs cell switching when predetermined execution conditions are met after the transmission of the measurement information, wherein the control unit manages the validity of the Timing Advance (TA) value associated with each of the candidate cells, and the control unit performs a predetermined operation when the TA value becomes invalid.
2. The terminal according to claim 1, wherein the predetermined operation is an operation that falls back to a cell switching procedure involving a random access procedure.
3. The terminal according to claim 1, wherein the predetermined operation is an operation to transmit a notification to the base station indicating that the TA value has become invalid.
4. The terminal according to claim 1, wherein the predetermined operation is an operation to exclude candidate cells associated with invalidated TA values from the target of monitoring the predetermined execution conditions.
5. The terminal according to claim 1, wherein the predetermined operation is an operation that requests the base station to fall back to a cell switching procedure based on network control.
6. A communication method performed by a terminal, comprising: managing the validity of the Timing Advance (TA) value associated with each of one or more candidate cells; transmitting Layer 1 and Layer 3 measurement information measured in the candidate cells to a base station; performing cell switching when predetermined execution conditions are met after the transmission of the measurement information; and, when the TA value becomes invalid, falling back to a cell switching procedure with a random access procedure or transmitting a notification to the base station indicating that the TA value has become invalid.
