[0003] The present invention relates generally to the field of multi-purpose ergonomic dispensing devices and adapter systems for self-administration of substances, and more particularly to syringes and applicators configured for comfortable, single-handed operation in medical, reproductive, personal-care, hygiene, laboratory, veterinary, and industrial applications.

[0005] What is needed in the field of self-administration syringes and applicators is a device specifically designed for comfortable, single-handed use by individuals without medical training to operate these devices independently on themselves. Current syringes and applicators are predominantly designed for use by healthcare professionals or administration by another person, making them difficult for self-use.
[0006] In self-administration, the directional force and finger placement required are substantially different from traditional use, and the user must often operate the device with a single hand, for example when administering to intimate or difficult-to-reach anatomical sites. However, these solutions primarily address professional use rather than selfadministration biomechanics, where users must simultaneously stabilize the device, control the plunger, and manage inward directional forces.

[0020] SUMMARY OF THE INVENTION
[0021] In various embodiments, the present invention provides ergonomic dispensing devices for self-administration, ergonomic adapter systems for retrofitting existing syringes and applicators, and combinations thereof, all configured to enable or improve single-handed self- administration of substances. In accordance with some embodiments of the present invention, the ergonomic self-administration dispensing device and the adapter system useful for converting conventional syringes, provide improved comfort and control during use and thereby expand the range of situations in which users can safely and effectively perform selfadministration.
[0022] In accordance with some embodiments of the present invention, the ergonomic dispensing devices and the adapter system for syringes and applicators provide a solution for enhancing the self-administration of substances. These ergonomic solutions address challenges associated with conventional syringe designs by improving grip stability, control, and user comfort during single-handed operation. In accordance with some embodiments of the present invention, there is thus provided a self-use dispensing device for administering medications, fluids, semi-fluids and other substances. The self-use dispensing device comprises: a. a barrel having a distal end proximal end and defining an internal cavity for holding a substance, said barrel further comprising at least one thumb grip or thumb support positioned to receive the user’s thumb during operation; b. a plunger slidably disposed within the barrel from the proximal end, said plunger further comprising one or more finger grips configured to receive the user’s index and / or middle fingers during self-use; c. wherein the arrangement of the thumb grip on the barrel and the finger grip(s) on the plunger is configured for controlled dispensing during self-use with a single hand.

Claims
1. CLAIMS1. A self-use dispensing device for administering medications, fluids, semi -fluids and other substances, comprising: a. a barrel having a proximal end and a distal end, said barrel further comprising a thumb grip positioned near the proximal end to accommodate the user’s thumb during operation; b. a plunger inserted into the proximal end of the barrel, said plunger further comprising finger grip(s) positioned to accommodate the user’s index and / or middle fingers during self-use; wherein the arrangement of the thumb grip on the barrel and the finger grip(s) on the plunger provides enhanced comfort and precision for the controlled dispensing during self-use with a single hand, minimizing the risk of user error, spillage, or misapplication.
2. The device of claim 1, wherein said finger grip(s) on said plunger are shaped as full circles, semicircles, flanges, wings, or any other ergonomic shapes to facilitate comfortable engagement by said user’s index and / or middle fingers.

A method for self-administering medications, fluids, semi-fluids and other substances using the device of claim 1, comprising: a. engaging the thumb grip with a thumb of a user and engaging the finger grip with at least one finger of the user; b. drawing the substance into the barrel by retracting the plunger while stabilizing the barrel with the thumb; and c. dispensing the substance by advancing the plunger while stabilizing the barrel with the thumb.
8. The device of claim 1, wherein the plunger and barrel are made of materials suitable for single-use or reusable purposes for use in medical, reproductive, personal-care, hygiene, cosmetic, laboratory, veterinary, industrial, or other applications.

A multi-purpose self-use dispensing device, comprising: a. a barrel for holding a medication, fluid or semi-fluid and other substances, said barrel further comprising a thumb grip for stabilizing the device during operation; b. a plunger having finger grip for engaging the user’s index and / or middle fingers, said plunger being inserted into the barrel for controlled dispensing of the substance; c. wherein the device is configured for a variety of applications requiring selfadministration of various substances for use in medical, reproductive, personal -care, hygiene, cosmetic, laboratory, veterinary, industrial, or other applications.

An ergonomic adapter system for retrofitting a syringe or applicator to facilitate selfadministration of substances, comprising: a finger grip plunger adapter configured to attach to a plunger of the syringe or applicator, said finger grip plunger adapter comprising at least one finger grip ergonomically positioned for engagement by a user's fingers, a thumb grip barrel adapter configured to attach to a barrel of the syringe or applicator, said thumb grip barrel adapter comprising a thumb grip ergonomically positioned for engagement by a user's thumb; wherein the finger grip plunger adapter and thumb grip barrel adapter are configured to enable single-handed operation of the syringe or applicator during self-administration.
