AI Technical Summary

Technical Problem

Current liquid sampling systems for cell cultures and bodily fluids require manual control, leading to wastage and inaccurate test results due to air introduction, especially in anaerobic and aerobic test bottles.

Method used

A fluid transfer apparatus with fixed-volume fluid stores, vents, and closures to manage gas and liquid communication, minimizing waste and ensuring precise transfer to test bottles.

🎯Benefits of technology

Reduces wastage and improves accuracy by allowing controlled fluid transfer with minimized air introduction, ensuring consistent and reliable test results.

Abstract

A fluid transfer apparatus (100) has an outlet (142) and at least one fluid store (106, 108) with a vent (116, 118) pervious to gas and impervious to liquid, an inlet (130) for transferring liquid to the fluid store(s) (106, 108). Each fluid store (106, 108) has a closure (160, 162) operable to selectively isolate at least part of the fluid store (106, 108) from the outlet (142). Liquid can be transferred to all of the stores (106, 108) from the inlet (130) and then sequentially transferred to separate sample containers by sequentially opening and closing the closures (160, 162).
