Abstract
A cage segment for composing a ball bearing cage includes a plurality of pockets, each formed as a spherical pocket having a sphere center. A boss protruding in the radial direction is formed on at least one of an outer circumferential face and an inner circumferential face of the cage segment, the boss having a spherical side face continuous with an inner face of the pocket, and the geometric center of the boss is located on a cross-section passing through the sphere center of the pocket and perpendicular to the axial direction. A width d of an intersection between the top face of the boss and the spherical side face and the ball diameter Dw satisfy: d = 0.05 × Dw ~ 0.30 × Dw. The disclosure also provides a cage and a ball bearing. By providing bosses at specific locations on the cage segments, with bosses having a width adapted to the diameter of the balls, stable operation of the cage among the balls is ensured during operation of the bearing, without unusual radial runout, misalignment, etc.; at the same time, the presence of the bosses strengthens the root of the claws, allowing the cage to withstand greater impact forces thereby reducing the risk of the claws breaking or the cage becoming dislodged.
