Abstract
The invention relates to a method for the selective electro-oxidative fragmentation of lignin using an electrochemical system, comprising the following steps: (i) synthesis of a nickel-cobalt electrocatalyst; (ii) obtaining an anode coated with the electrocatalyst; and (iii) selective fragmentation and oxidation of solubilised lignin in an electrochemical reactor comprising said anode, in which vanillic acid and syringic acid are obtained as preferred products.
